Playing in the snow

Here we see a young Iyam-ru pair from planet Persus playing together in the snow. Being such intelligent animals comes with both advantages and disadvantages-, as these avians often find themselves growing bored and seeking entertainment in anything they can find. In this scenario, they're simply enjoying their time together, with the male munching on a snowball he made and the female jealously pecking after him for a piece of it.

I wanted to share a few WiPs of a Microraptor art doll project I was never able to finish... but I might go back to it at some point. I didn't take any pics of how far I got with it 1-2 years ago, but I already covered its entire neck in black feathers. I wanted to make it as realistic and accurate as possible to the data we have about this dinosaur. Hopefully, I'll have more time for my crafts again when freelancing. I miss it so much.

Windsurfing

Some avian populations that dwell in mountainous regions of Persus, particularly the Iyam-ru, use the heated air from volcanic hot springs for updrafts, allowing them to cruise effortlessly through the sky. They have adapted to the geothermal activity of their habitat by climbing nearby peaks surrounding the steaming ponds. The cliffs, shaped by centuries of volcanic activity, have become a common playground for them. Here, they tend to engage in aerial acrobatics and intricate flight patterns, showcasing their agility and glistening plumage. The steep rocky outcrops serve as launchpads, where the birds often engage in playful competitions, each vying for the best position to catch the next thermal current. This friendly rivalry adds a dynamic spirit to the cliffs, making it a vibrant and essential part of their daily life, and giving tourists visiting the hot springs one kind of a show.

Cik'rr species

The Cik‘rr are defined by their relentless pursuit of expansion and resource exploitation. They leave a trail of devastated worlds in their wake, moving from planet to planet in a never-ending quest for new resources. Their strength lies in their adaptability, military prowess, and uncompromising societal structure, making them a formidable force in the galaxy.

The incident

Event log Day: 349 Subject ID: A008 Status: Post-exposure to Archframe prototype Subject A008 displayed elevated aggression levels following prolonged exposure to the Archframe prototype. Blood tests performed at 16:22 revealed a significant spike in cortisol levels (245% above baseline), suggesting a heightened stress response. Despite verbal commands and remote detachment attempts, Subject A008 refused to disengage from the Archframe. At 19:34, the security team initiated a manual extraction protocol, forcibly removing A008 from the biosuit. The process resulted in minor lacerations along the interface points where the Archframe’s cables had integrated with the subject’s neuro-linkage nodes. Immediate medical intervention was provided. Post-extraction: Subject A008 exhibited no further aggressive behavior, with vitals returning to normal levels. The subject retired to sleep at 22:43. Event log Day: 350 Subject ID: A008 Incident: Aggression escalation, violent interaction with Subject A149 At 03:12, security cameras recorded Subject A008 engaging in a violent assault on Subject A149 within A149‘s cell. Subject A008 was observed repeatedly biting and masticating A149, displaying a complete dissociation from prior behavior. Security intervened at 03:15, but despite efforts, Subject A149 sustained critical injuries and entered a coma shortly after the incident due to Subject A008's venom. Blood tests taken from A008 immediately after the incident showed a continued elevation in cortisol and the presence of unidentified neurochemical markers. A008 was sedated and returned to isolation. An emergency partition was erected to prevent direct interaction between A008 and the research team. Medical and psychological evaluations are ongoing. A008 has not responded coherently to any stimuli or questioning. Further investigation into the Archframe’s potential neurological impacts is underway. Skaarn species

As a strict stratocratic society, the Skaarn prioritize individual freedoms within a set of norms; most notably their right to bear arms. From a very young age just after passing sexual maturity they are indoctrinated by undergoing a mandatory three-year-long compulsory military training, instilling discipline, respect for authority, and a sense of responsibility. Their strict hierarchical values and a requirement to behave professionally are a fundamental part of their society. Forming the backbone of the T.F.E.’s main military forces, Skaarn are also highly sought after as skilled workers and soldiers among independent factions and corporations.

The remnant

This physical precursor, who had been asleep for billions of years, is now awake aboard the Artox Trahelis, unsettling everyone with its strange presence and raising more questions than it answers. Even if it remains mute most of the time, it has many stories to tell if one allows access to the mind, even if it does not always fully comprehend where they are coming from.

Not every one of the crew is fond of the Architect's abilities to hear thoughts and appears to actively modify its shape to a more grounded look, which is why the commander chose to be the one communicating with the outcast firsthand, inspiring it, and teaching it what it means to be a mortal—even if the Architect’s feedback periodically breaks her mind. However, her obsession with this being has grown exponentially since its discovery—more or less willingly. She never imagined she'd experience a real celestial entity in her life, and she is already hundreds of years old.
