A Queer Historical Murder Mystery To Fall In Love With
How could I resist Lavender House by Lev AC Rosen after hearing it was a historical fiction murder mystery where the main character is a gay man in the 1950s who gets employed by the wife of a soap dynasty businesswoman to investigate the death of said businesswoman? Not only is it LGBTQ representation, but its representation given by an author who identifies with the LGBTQ community. Someone who…

I FINALLY read The Unwanted Guest yesterday! And by "read" I mean "did a reading", I got to do Ianthe, none if us had read the script beforehand, and we randomly improvised with chairs to follow the scene instructions, it was absolutely glorious.
ANYWAY. I cannot decide what is hotter: Palamedes in his terrible half-burnt suit and the cigarette he doesn't know why he's holding, or Ianthe with her maid/butler routine.
Believe me, no one is more horrified to realize this than me.
#The PLAY#the DRAMA#the EVERYTHING i want to scream. I did scream. I rolled around in the floor and sobbed#'i can't compliment sandwich this babe'.......... the ace attorney reference.......... DULCIE...................#Ianthe Tridentarius the woman you are (<- fucked up nasty rat queen with a brain like a greek theater murder mystery tea party)#wait let me rephrase that. IANTHE NABERIUS THE PERSON YOU ARE (?????)#It opens SO many bafföing questions about babs too#Like. We knew he was a 1950s greaser at heart#but the ace attorney dramatics?#Anyway. I am so normal so so normal (<- guy who has been thinking about stages like a glass of water in the desert since yesterday)#*wistful sigh*#the locked tomb#the unwanted guest

I haven't shown much of the visual novel I'm working on! What Shadows Know is a supernatural murder mystery where photography revives the dead. Here are some of Boyer's expressions—a professor investigating a hit-and-run case that left a woman undead.

Go read my original book!
Now available on Kindle for only 2 pounds! (3 USD) it was literally the minimum price i could choose fr
If you've read my aot fics, you probably know my OC, Nathalie. I used her as the protagonist of my new original series. Book 1 is finally out and you can get it here.
Yes, I used a silly little pen name
There's gonna be a bunch of crime/thriller/mystery/human experimentation/cold war/scifi shit, BUUUUTTT there's also gonna be a very juicy love triangle with a healthy dose of angst and action/adventure.
And from 21/06-25/06 you can get it for free at Kindle Free Book Deals, so stay tuned in!
If you're a nerd (like me) you're gonna love it cuz I explore the concept of biological time travel via quantum entanglement, and all of it takes place in the 1950s.
Summary:
The Burgess Family, a group of highly intelligent individuals, keeps their advanced technology hidden from the rest of the world. To protect it, they created the Garner Family, perfect soldiers, genetically engineered to obey them. A side effect of such an experiment resulted in a single Garner per generation to be born with the ability of time and space travel. Set in 1956, Dr Nathalie Burgess joins the time and space traveller, Tedric Garner, in a project to uncover the mysteries of time and space. Who would have thought that they would stray so far from their research?

Camilla Beeput in Grantchester (2014) S1E5
Sidney takes Geordie to London where, as guests of Sidney's sister Jennifer, they visit the jazz club owned by her boyfriend Johnny's father Archie. Halfway through the evening Johnny's sister Claudette is murdered. She was about to elope with her lover Walter, who accuses Archie, an arrogant man, who brings in his friend inspector Williams, whom Geordie suspects to be corrupt. Indeed twelve years earlier Williams arrested Archie on suspicion of murder but released him. Archie believes that Claudette's slaying was revenge for those far off events and Sidney and Geordie set out to find the avenger. In the meantime Sidney feels guilty for having spent the night in the bed of glamorous vocalist Gloria and Guy, aware of the young vicar's attraction to Amanda, tells him that the wedding will now be in London.

#this is howling into the void but i do also welcome answers#this story keeps trying to become about peggy and may's War Cameraderie and not fitzsimmons eventually kissing#and also a history of council housing in the 1950s#NOT NOW STORY IDEAS I HAVE TO FINISH THIS#it was meant to be done in FEBRUARY#anyway i have shunted most of that to the story seeds notebook but this is still going to be a very long chapter#fs boardinghouse au#lou writes#mostly stuff she isn't mean to be writing#also today: trying desperately not to write an outline for the swallows and amazons wwii murder mystery

Aghhhh The Sweetness At The Bottom of the Pie is my favourite mystery novel but I feel like I cam never recommend it on account of the racism.
#it's set in 1950 but it was written in 2009#it irks me because casual 1950s misogyny occurs but is challenged#whereas casual 1950s racism is not. indeed the main character herself is extremely racist.#which is. in character for a rich white british 11 year old in 1950 (or today...)#but is also just jarring to randomly stumble across in the middle of an otherwise fun and jaunty murder investigation#dont know what the solution to this is. but i do hope the author figures out a solution in a later book#alan bradley why did you do this to me personally#books#murder mystery#mystery books#lizard life#trenchcoat reviews#middle grade fiction

4.21.2024
This morning, while the sun was stretching its spine and rising into the sky, I was in the shower. Getting ready to drive too long and too far to work in an office. An office placed in the center of a city I cannot stand. Maybe on another day I will get into that. I am not feeling nostalgic today, only a little resentful. Listening through earbuds, I follow Mrs. Davenport fall into step with the…
