I really can see him as a detective in some kind of noir movie, solving a murder case and saving you. But he is cold as ice of course, he won’t fall that easily for you. May be he’s drinking in some fancy bar or smoking in a dark alley.

On a bit of a Film Noir kick right now, so blame that

Imagine, if you will:

Danny, a private eye in Gotham, ever the hard boiled detective, sitting in his dark office, drinking coffee you could use to tar a roof. The office isn't in a good neighborhood but rent still ain't cheap. He's fixing to get a new case on his desk soon

Enter one Timothy Drake-Wayne, CEO of Wayne Enterprizes. He walked in shirt unbuttoned dangerously low in a suit sharp enough to cut yourself on and bags under his eyes to large to be counted as carry on. Mr. Drake has a job for him, one he wants to keep quite, and one important enough that he's willing to add a couple zeros to Danny's usual rate. This job is a dream come true... almost too good to be true...

Tim Drake aka Red Robin(yummm) needs plausible deniability on a case tied to his civilian identity and so hires a PI and lays down a trail of clues for him. All the while playing up the Noir tropes to flirt with the cute detective.

why doesn't he just take care of it as Red Robin? Shhhhh... the detective is cute and he's having too much fun playing the homme fatale

Bonus: Immediately after wrapping up Tim's case Kon walks into Danny's office dolled up in a vintage dress, period appropriate makeup done, all to play the part of the Femme Fatale and do the exact same thing Tim did. Does he know Tim literally just did that? Maybe, maybe not

A few months back, I threw a couple concepts for a Dead Boy Detectives film noir AU... and, well, as I am using my free day to rewatch Mentopolis, I am in the mood.

So---

It's the early-to-mid 1930's, and Detective Edwin Payne, formerly of Scotland Yard, has moved to New York City after a spat with one of his coworkers led to him getting outed and fired. Joining him is his best friend since childhood, Charles Rowland, who came along not just to support Edwin and make sure he wouldn't be alone in a new city and new country, but to leave a life of working a shitty factory job behind. The two friends are attempting to make ends meet by starting up a P.I. business, but so far, it's pretty slow going. The only real work they've been able to get is marital disputes, and they can barely afford to keep their secretary, Niko, around... until a couple things come in at once.

Firstly, a pushy young reporter by the name of Crystal Palace---who everyone knows, as much as she tries to hide it and make an actual name for herself, is the daughter of a pair of incredibly famous Hollywood actors---starts coming by the office. At first, she's just visiting her friend at her new job, but as someone who wants to be an investigative journalist but is constantly being given puff, society pieces, she starts to get very interested in Edwin and Charles's work... and for some strange reason, she always seems to show up exactly where they're investigating, and she always seems to have some sort of information that nobody could possibly know.

Secondly, Edwin and Charles wind up getting their first big case, from an individual known only as "The Cat King---" a nightclub owner and gentleman thief, who hires them to solve the disappearance of a young man that he'd started doing some jobs with, who never gave out his real name but went by the moniker "Crow." Edwin and Charles both have a hard time trusting the Cat King, and Charles in particular is convinced that he's not telling the whole truth, but since even the 50% the Cat King paid up front is enough to pay their rent for months on end... well, they've got no other choice but to go chasing down alleyways, infiltrating speakeasies, and scoping out the most dangerous parts of the city to track down Crow. And as they get further and further into the case, they realized that they've opened up a can of worms involving one of the most powerful families in New York.

And... I think I'll leave it there for now ;)
