I was wondering if you have any advice on trust and stuff when it comes to deities?

Welcome to my hive, sweetheart! Thank you for sending in your ask. 🌷🐝

I've seen a few people come into my asks and wonder about the process of trust and faith in their path. And, a practice that helped me was - really just... Asking myself things. As simple as that sounds, it can take time to truly hear yourself. Not the anxiousness, the learned functions, hear you.

What is trust? What is faith? Call me a lunatic wizard or whatever you may please, but, I believe language is gibberish. Word meanings are make believe. There is no set in stone way to define things of faith and trust - no guidebook to emotions and mindsets. Especially when it comes to interacting with the spiritual realm, something our brains are conditioned to beware of, and not believe.

When starting out, it's important to try and make time to define these things for yourself. And the meanings can change, as time goes on. Define what faith is to you, since, that is like a twin to trust. What religion and worship is. What makes you feel comfortable enough to trust.

Sure, you can base it off of the dictionary meaning &/or what someone else sees it as, but, that's for them. For others. They won't ever experience your path as you do. They won't fit in your footsteps. So why try and force yourself to follow theirs?

Do you trust yourself?

That's something that I, like many others, have had to ask ourselves thoroughly. Because, mainly, if you cannot trust yourself, you will not trust the results, answers, or experiences you gain throughout your journey. This particular subject of trust, faith, and so forth, takes a long time. Or it may feel like a long time, depending on some people and their differences. Overall, this a process that cannot be rushed.

If rushed, it isn't truly authentic. Officialized. And, no, you are not expected to have over 1000% of trust in yourself, that's quite frankly a bit impossible for humans to do with anything. It's a part of our nature. So, there's no shame in it. In how long it may take. In the styles that help you, ect. As long as you aren't harming someone else, or further damaging yourself in the process, you have the freedom to exercise this however you see and feel fit.

Can you listen to yourself?

I know I brought this up earlier in the post, but let me expand on it, since it's a very crucial step to trust and comprehension when it comes to spiritual realms.

Listening to yourself comes in oceans of different variants. It can come in emotions, images, tingles, slight bodily movements... Really just, whatever happens for you. Listen to your body. To your intuition. Yourself.

That's vague, yes. And this process can be difficult as well. Trust, in itself, is a difficult thing for most, if not all, of the population.

Listening to yourself in any of the formats that come to you (which, I do encourage to do some research on clairsenses and chakras here. Research and Experiment. That type of thing. For, there's no point in researching if you will not put it to use and put your own spin on it to make it work for you.) will be hard if they have not been previously trained.

Images and visualization / clairaudience came to me pretty easily, since I wrote many, many stories and poems as a child. I spent my days soaked into literature and living it out. Daydreaming it, fantasizing it, feeling it. Practice makes progress. And eventually, you'll find what is perfect for you. However, perfection takes time. Perfection takes defining what perfect is for you. Perfection takes realism. Not harshness, not coddling, but real. What is real to you? What does real mean? So on, so forth.

Really hearing yourself can be hard. Especially if you suffer from mental illness, or a type of disability. And to that I say, as someone who struggles with both, don't discourage yourself for it. Don't push yourself beyond your limits. Yes, I applaud and heavily encourage you to get out of your comfort zone. Because comfort zones aren't growth, from what I have learned. But, limits, boundaries, ect - have those with yourself. Overworking, pressuring, and so on? Those will not help you progress. You will burn out, just as if you water a flower too much, it shall drown. Treat yourself like a plant. Starting out as a seedling, then sprout, and over time, the flimsy stems of you shall grow strong and beautiful. Give yourself pollen. Not more pain.

I have a motto for this, and its: If I am lost, I am simply between chapters. If you feel confused, or- insecure of yourself and your path, there has never been a rememberable, heart touching story, that does not come with some form of trial. Some form of confusion and pain. Ect. The point is too keep flipping those pages. To finish the book. Maybe pick up the next part of the series if you wish. But skipping to the end page never leaves a satisfied reader. Does that make sense??? I feel like I messed up the point a bit there, lol.

Now, most of the questions here may be hard to answer. And that's alright. They were for me too, and still can be at times. They may not even work for all of them. Generalization here is not the key. Simply, take my words as a blanket. You can sew your own imagery into it and turn it into something of your own, that you personally enjoy and can find comfort when swaddled into.

What are the exact name ofthose Buddha statues Iori made you posted? Besides the Boss one

The Earth statue is Bishamonten, one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Japan. Aside from Ebisu, who is a purified Hiruko, all of the Seven Lucky Gods are regional variants of gods imported from China and India. Bishamonten specifically is Kuvera, a Hindu wealth god who was promoted to a Buddhist guardian deva (Buddhist name: Vaisravana). Notorious avatars of Kuvera include Li Jing (Nezha's father, avatar status canon to Type-Moon Pan-Human History), Sakanoue no Tamuramaro (Suzuka Gozen's husband, avatar status unclear in Type-Moon), and Uesugi Kenshin (Nagao Kagetora, avatar status maybe exclusive to Gudaguda).

The Water statue is Maha Vairocana, the most central and most perfected entity in Mahayana Buddhism. The Buddha above all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, so to speak. In 752, Emperor Shoumu established that Maha Vairocana is the Buddha form of sun goddess Amaterasu, a belief established as canon to Type-Moon. Amaterasu/Vairocana shows her actual face in Tamamo's route of CCC, so she's the only one in the post where I put a picture of the actual Buddha instead of an avatar.

The Wind statue is a Bodhisattva known by the Japanese name Kanzeon (frequently shortened to Kannon) or the Sanscrit name Avalokitesvara, but certainly more popular by the Chinese name Guanyin thanks to their recurring presence in China's mythological epics. They're featured in The Investiture of the Gods as one of the Xians who completed their studies under Yuanshi Tianzun, and later they appear in Journey to the West as the Bodhisattva who sent Xuanzang on his journey and pretty much always the first one they call for help when they need intervention from a higher force. They're widely known for being a shapeshifter, resulting in many variants of statues of them both in masculine and feminine forms. During the ban on Christianity in Japan, the Christians got away with having Virgin Mary statues by establishing Mary's image as one of the many transformations of Kanzeon. Bodhisattva Kanzeon is the main object of worship of the Yoshinaka Temple, which is why both he and Tomoe have Avalokitesvara's sutra as their NP name. Surprisingly enough, Guanyin has yet to make any significant appearance in Fate/, so I went with Yoshinaka's armor as their image because the Yoshinaka Temple association comes with the strong implication that his armor is a treasure modeled after Kanzeon's image.

The Fire statue is Acala, more known by his Japanese name, Fudou Myou-ou. You may know him as the big angry Stand from Musashi's Noble Phantasm. Acala is a really minor Wisdom King in the original Indo-Buddhist side of things, but for some reason, he's immensely popular in Japan. The main story he's featured in is the story of how Sidharta Gautama became The Buddha. The most popular version of it is that Mara appeared to impede Gautama's enlightenment, but ultimately was driven away inside him Mara found the angry face of Acala, the Buddha's demon-conquering form. That's the version I'm more familiar with, so I would prefer using Extra's Buddha as Fudou Myou-ou's image, but another version says that Acala was either a messenger sent by Vairocana to ensure Gautama's enlightenment or Vairocana's own demon-conquering form. And Musashi's materials associate Fudou with Shiva (never heard of this connection before), so for canon compliance, I had to go with Shiva('s avatar Asvattaman).

And the Void statue is the Thousand-Armed Guanyin. It's a transformation where Guanyin copies the 1000 arms of Vishnu to reach out and save the biggest possible number of sentient beings in all worlds. I could use Yoshinaka again since that's another Guanyin, but I went with Vishnu('s avatar Rama) since this form is essentially Guanyin transformed into Vishnu. I also considered photoshopping 40 extra pairs of arms into Rama but I'm lazy and the pose in his card really doesn't help anyone trying to multiply his arm.

THE DOOMED SEARCH FOR ATLANTIS AND ATILLA THE ORCA

ATILLA was an ORCA. ORCA are not from a place so much as a zone. As life moves in a fluid context that is billions of atoms pushing against each other at unfathomable variants of pressure and magnitude.

ATILLA was the spawn of CUJO and PHILOMENA. Both came from long and furious blood lines. A colorful heritage in an unspoken brogue of click, ticks and flips…

- [ ] They would summer near the FAWKLAND’s and spend winter between GIBRALTAR. The currents changed with the seasons and they lived almost completely in a conciousness of impulse and sensation

Each season the journey across the vast quiet brought challenges that they’ve learned from. Unlike DOLPHINS who are quiet, vain and egocentric, ORCA are a more communal folk who share and collaborate.

Each decade the great SCION would be crowned at the CAPE OF GOOD HOPE ritual. It’s not well documented, but according to ancient lore passed down generationally regarding the decorum and conditions that will spark the commencement of the ritual would proceed as such.

The current and successor would drive a guyer of small fish into the break smashing a buffet of wriggling SARDINES and BABY MACKEREL crashing before 1000’s of hungry PENGUINS.

The SCION and successor would then allow the cadre of brethren who’d accompanied them to the dangerous and treacherous passage to push in amd engage.. This charge would create a torrent of motion and carnage.

While the feast commenced in perfect harmony as planned, the SCION and successor would turn from the shore and dive directly down until they both felt the hold and clutch them almost to stasis…

At a moment of truth the current SCION would take a final look back at the one would would return to the great POD and dictate the agenda and maxims that would be gospel for the next decade. With this perhaps momentary motion of tremendous respect, the SCION would turn invariably deeper to allow tremendous pressure to consume them into the silent embrace of the bottom briney deep…

Once the gaze of SCION shifted below the successor would rise and return. At this time the feast would continue unabated.

After 3 days and nights the brood would retreat back the larger gathering just north of the FAWKLANDS.

This hadn’t always been where this occurred. In a time several centuries prior the nasty men that smelled for miles away would invade the sacred space. They would harpoon the sacred grand folk who would hurd the tremendous schools of fish with precision. These men were quite determined, but made the mistake of underestimating the resolve of the ORCA to drive them from this place. After several season the SCION of that era moved to wage war on the BOSTON WHALERS.

At first it was a ship here or there that would mysteriously disappear. But after the flag ship of the NANTUCKET fleet was sunk the WHALER’s moved away for from the FAWKLAND’s estuary.

ATILLA knew all of these stories as very brief riddles that were taught by beaching fish and guessing how flops they would wiggle out. But he also knew it was his charge to sort the incursion of greddy and reckless treasure hunters run amok between PORT VERDE and GIBRALTAR.

The ORCA always considered GIBRALTAR as a dead space that should not be lingered in. The bounty on either side of the strait was too vast to effectively hold or command. But this was prior to ANTON and his brutal incursion.

It had been an uneventful fall leading into winter. But then it happened….

ANTON was a GREEK treasure hunter who’d found a foolish oligarch to fund his hair brained hunt for the lost city of ATLANTIS…

ANTON’s plan had no bells or whistles. ATON was barely literate but spent every waking moment searching for money or information that could benefit his quest for glory. It was by pure accident that met his benefactor. He promised him untold riches at a very reasonable investment of 10 MILLION EUROS.

He didn’t even provide any details before accepting the massive injection of funds he’d clawed at so desperately.

Once he had his bankroll he set up “exploration” of the vast space between PORT VERDE and GIBRALTAR. This would entail extensive use of ultra sonic equipment and exploratory DEPTH CHARGES that would resonate 1,000’s of ultra sonic decibels, mapping the contours of the ocean floor. This would create a deafening roar that would be cataclysmic for any marine life in the vacinity.

It was on one particularly beautiful morning that ATILLA’s half brother CLAUS approached his in a manner he had dreaded. He clicked out the news that his family had been found floating in a plume of KRILL and SARDINES… The DEPTH CHARGE had created a shockwave that killed them all instantly.

ATILLA dove deep without hestitation to summon the wisdom and courage of the elders. To feel the pressure envelop him whole and provide him the insight needed to bring vicious reciprocity upon the monsters who’d committed this unspeakable hubris.

When ATILLA arose from the dees he breached the surface of the bay and smacked his tail wildly to summon the call. Within hours he was surround in all directions by his great family.

ATILLA was an ORCA of action not words, so his clicks were brief and blunt.

The entire POD would descend upon the exploration fleet and see them all perish. His motion toward the strait from the bay was precisely planned. They would become a great crescent and squeeze them in.

The charge was so feirce that ATILLA called a brief pause allowing the waves of ORCA to stack up tighter for the assault. He dove all the way below the feet and circled back. His designs were sound so he clicked the signal motioning the first brave wave of ORCA to engage the fleet.

The first wave of ORCA went between the half dozen vessels of the AKROPOLIS expedition. They started to create a current bringing the vessels inward like a hand closing. The next wave began by punching the ship’s sterns head on.

This instantly sounded the alarm. Harpoons and long guns sounded, but by this time ATILLA had brought his COUP DE’ GRACE down upon them. Unbeknownst to ANTON, the fleet sat adjacent to a deadly UNCHARTED REEF. The reef was shaped like a sickle. The armada would invariably throttle up in desperation to escape the onslaught of ORCA’s slamming into their vessels.

ANTON let out a billowous cry over his megaphone on the POTEMKEN’s bridge. The ships scurried like scared mice in a vast field as thr ominous shadows decent from above, plucking them off one by one. The first two mid-size friggetts’ were at full speed when they crashed into the stone like maze just inches below the breaking water.. The ORCAS splashed angrily around the wreck showing NO QUARTER.

All the rats rushed out of the decimated and now burning vessels, the adolescent ORCA poured under the wreckage to breach feed on the fleeing enemies just as their WHITE SHARK brethren had taught them.

ORCA or ORCINUS ORCA; or the “toothed whale” are APEX oceanic predators. Much like other APEX predators, the assumption and hence name “KILLER WHALE” is not a name that the ORCA themselves accept or appreciate.

As APEX creatures, all things in the kingdom they command swim before them in submission. It must be noted that the GREAT LIE of human and ORCA interaction is not a thing the ORCA unlike humans can ever forgive.

The first mighty ORCA who lived and died in captivity in the Northern Pacific region were of HIGH BLOOD to the current ORCA SCION. When the monsters who captured, enslaved, abused, tortured and ultimately held them in bondage until they simply expired from extreme physical distress a power message spread across the ocean.

Trekking the Kilimanjaro path to Marangu Despite being challenging at the very end to reach the top, the 5-day route is rather simple. I do not intend to go into shipping discussions, because I find shipping largely very boring and it’s also not my place to say who can/should and who can’t/shouldn’t ship what. There are people with more relevant opinions of appropriateness or inappropriateness of Nezha ships than me.

It’s just about the question of his age that have been flowing around.

I have fairly recently read Investiture of the Gods (Fengshen Yanyi). English version is over 1000 pages long and it’s not as well written as Journey to the West (that I’m also familiar with). Aside from that I’ve seen multiple Journey to the West adaptations and several Nezha movies (I’m also familiar with Hoshin Engi anime, which is retelling of Fengshen Yanyi, based on the manga by the same title, so a bit different tradition).

So far I haven’t seen a posts from anyone who is actually familiar with the version on Nezha’s story from the Fenshen Yanyi novel (16th century). Obviously many people are familiar with Fengshen Yanyi story in general - it’s a part of living storytelling tradition and living religion, especially in China and other East Asian countries, as well in diaspora in the “West,” where the story carries significant cultural relevance. The story is a myth or a legend and as such by the definition there is no canon. Hence I don’t think the novel is a “better” or “truer” version that the stories told by parents to children. I don’t have ethnographical data on the different variants of Nezha’s story is in oral retellings. Other people know the story from popular media and I don’t think that’s necessarily any less “true” (with the caveat that multiple popular media made departure from widely recognized story on purpose and therefore should not be treated the same as the versions that attempt to be faithful to the tradition).

We do however have a time frame, because both Fengshen Yanyi and JttW are fantastic retellings of real events. Fengshen Yanyi took place in 11th century B. C. E. and JttW in 7th century C. E.

Sun Wukong was born roughly 1000 years before the main plot takes place (there are different estimates on the exact number, but this is the magnitude we operate here).

According to Fenshen Yanyi novel Li Nezha died at the age of seven and after some time (at least half a year) his he was incarnated in the body made of lotus roots. At this point he gained the appearance of a young man,16 feet tall (everyone in this book is about this tall, also Naza was already 6 feet tall as a seven year old). At this point he’s a spirit of a child piloting artificial body with outwards appearance of a youth. Nezha’s body does not act as a normal human body and can’t be subjected to the same kinds of magic as normal people. He never experienced growing up.

Further time-frame is that apparently about 26 years passed between Nezha’s lotus incarnation and the conclusion of Fenshen Yanyi (at leats I think it’s the case based on the prophecy in chapter 15 that specifies the time frame of events). During that time Nezha cultivated himself under the tutelage of a Daoist master Taiyi Zhenren (Fairy Primordial). Afterwards he goes to cultivate for some more and then he presumably goes with the rest of his family to live in Heaven.

Funny story, time passes differently in Heaven according to JttW. A year on earth only last a day in Heaven. So the six-seven centuries that passed between Li Nezha’s ascension to the birth of Sun Wukong only lasted for about two years from the former’s point of view.

Sun Wukong is well over 300 years old (over 342 years old according the the records of the Underworld) when he is first invited into Heaven and subsequently meets Li Nezha for the first time. Again about a year had passed for Li Nezha, while Sun Wukong actually lived all those years on Earth. So Li Nezha is chronologically much older, bur he only experience living for about 40 years. So, anyway Li Nezha’s life experience can be counted in decades, while Sun Wukong’s life experience is in centuries. And in a show like Lego Monkie Kid, Heaven dwelling Li Nezha’s life experience is still counted in decades, while Sun Wukong’s life in Earthly Realm lasted millennia.

Technically Li Nezha is a adult (18+ and an adult body), but in JttW there are immortal boys over 1000 years old living and cultivating on Earth. 30-40 years is pretty negligible for an Immortal. So my interpretation (of portrayal in the novel) is that despite technically being older he’s still a seven year old piloting artificial body of an adult.

Both Li Nezha and Sun Wukong are extremely young by Heavenly standards. Comparatively Jade Emperor have cultivated himself for  “one thousand seven hundred and fifty kalpas, with each kalpa lasting a hundred and twenty-nine thousand six hundred years.”(JttW, Chapter 7 - that’s 226 800 000 years, even if you divide it by 365 to adjust for Heavenly time flow it’s over 621 369 years).

In most other versions I’m familiar with Nezha is portrayed as a child ranging from toddler(ish) to a pre teen, so instances when he’s portrayed as adult (in appearance)  departure from the dominant trend.

In Traditional Chinese Opera he’s portrayed as wawasheng (a child role). Of course he’s normally played by and adult actor.

there is also (unfortunately) Nezha from Fate series. Who is (unfortunately) sexy anime girl (yet somehow no one argues that Nezha is a female, because there in some versions he is one. For that matter no one argues Sun Wukong is human, even though many human versions of him exist in pop culture. Funny that).

It’s not that Li Nezha is universally portrayed as a child. There are many versions of the story that depict him as an adult (at least in appearance), but being a child is as relevant as for the cultural understanding who this character is as being a monkey is for Sun Wukong.
