LATE WINTER BUTTER ROLLS
My first post I ever made. I was pretty new to the tumblr community at the time. I loved kitchen witchcraft, and I'm the type of person who will ramble on about how much I love cooking and baking. This blog gave me an outlet to express my love of cooking, baking, paganism, and witcraft. And these rolls are very tasty, I make them to this day!
WITCHY TOMATO BASIL SOUP
Tasty, simple, and a crowd-pleaser. It's perfect for a beginner kitchen witch! It was also the second recipe I ever posted.
SWEET CREAM BUNS
It was a recipe given to me by one of my good friends at the time. Every time I make it, it gets devoured in less than 10 minutes. It was also my first recipe to get over 50 notes. I was shocked but ecstatic that so many people would even give it the time of day lol.
WITCHY THUMBPRINT COOKIES
These ones were just fun to make and delicious lol.
A WITCH’S COZY BUTTERNUT WINTER SOUP
A quick soup that feeds a lot of people during the fall season. Fall is my favorite season, so of course I'm very biased lol.
SAMHAIN PUMPKIN BREAD
I love pumpkin bread and apple cider... So why not combine the two? This one was definitely one of my favorites of all time. Moist pumpkin bread and chocolate chips have to be one of my favorite things on this planet. It also makes for the perfect gift for friends and family. Yummy!
ANGEL’S AWARD-WINNING LEMON POPPY SEED BREAD
I love dessert loaves of any kind, so naturally, this would be on the list lol.
MAPLE BUTTER COOKIES
Super simple comfort food! I love any time of cookie with brown sugar.
BRING ME POSITIVITY PECAN FRENCH TOAST BAKE
I love French toast, and I love positivity~
SAMHAIN SOUL CAKES RECIPE
These are really good! And traditional. If you celebrate Samhain, I recommend you make some soul cakes and have friends and family help decorate. I give the littles a bag of orange frosting and let them go crazy lol.
FEEL BETTER CHICKEN SOUP
One of my most recent is my witchy twist on chicken noodle soup!

Donnie and Mikey are in the kitchen set, they're both in chef's uniform. Though Donnie has his AR glasses on, they offered Mikey a pair, but he declined because 'it would distract him from cooking'.
They're making 'Summer Snacks with some science'.
Donnie grabs an odd looking device and sets it up while the audience is questioning what it is. Mikey has returned with salt, cream, a few random labeled canisters, and a cooler.
"Okay, so now we're going to show you some easy ways to make your own icecream. Though results may vary, this is how we make it." Donnie explains while pulling a few pint sized tubes from inside the machine.
"Oooohh, there's so many possible flavors to make!" Mikey gushes while placing down ingredients, "I want to try mixing up this one flavor I saw pop up in my feed. What was the mixture again?" Mikey pulls out his phone to look up the recipe.
"While you do that, I will start with a sorbet recipe, and see how if it sets properly. We haven't messed with sorbet as much, I don't think it's too different, but it's for food science!" Donnie exclaimed as he grabs a food processor type gadget. He has a projection of a recipe floating next to him. "Okay, so depending on which recipe, this either needs sugar, or syrup, fruit puree or juice... it's almost just a more complex juice pop than something like icecream."
"I think I found the one I saw earlier!" Mikey announces while holding his phone in the air. "Alright, so we just need to make a vanilla base, and add a few extra things. Though we need to substitute a couple ingredients in this one."
"It has nuts in it?" Donnie questions while tossing some cut up fruit into the food processor.
"It has nuts in it." Mikey confirmed, "I wonder if I could switch it for sunflower seeds, or would it mess up the taste?" He asked out loud while looking over the ingredients they have prepared.
"Well these will just be small batches, so just test it out. If it doesn't work, Red will still eat it. Since it shouldn't trigger his nut allergies." Donnie replies back while measuring out the sugar to add to the sorbet mixture.
Mikey nods his head, then starts grabbing what he needs to make the vanilla ice cream base for his mix.
Donnie then cleared his throat, "Now for those who have been asking, this device is a custom built Ice Cream Maker, that makes multiple small batches at once. You put the mixture into these tubes, and they go inside the machine where it gets a bit tumbled and mixes while being super chilled." Donnie has some videos demonstrating how the machine works pop up while he explains this.
"It's very handy for when we all can't agree on which flavor we want to make. Or we want to mess around with multiple flavors." Mikey adds while mixing together the cream, milk, sugar, some salt, and some fresh-ish vanilla bean.
The audience watched as the two mix together several ice cream mixtures that get put into the Ice Cream maker, and a few Sorbet mixes get put into the freezer.
"While those get mixed and set, let's use the rest of this fruit to make some refreshing drink mixes!" Mikey shouts while Donnie cleans up some of the work area.
"Let's hope we still have some of that delicious melon left. Because you're still banned from that farmers market right?" Donnie asks nonchalantly with a small smug look.
Mikey freezes before turning towards Donnie with a harsh glare, "You know good and well, that it was not my fault! He wanted $50 for a small bag of citrus fruits, that were $10 at most at a different stall." He says with a slight growl.
"Well you didn't need to beat him up over it."
"He said my culinary skills were worse than prison quality! Prison Quality! He deserved to be sent to the worst prison in the world for that!!!" Mikey yells, shocking the audience.
The audience are spamming the chat with lots of confused messages and emojis combinations.
"I would question why he insulted your cooking, but I don't want to get on Dr. Delicate Touch's bad side." Donnie says, "Do we have any club soda left, of do we need to send Blue to get more?" They add to try redirect the subject, and not get something thrown at him for bringing up the topic in the first place.
The continue on with testing out drinks, until the timer went off to check on the ice cream. The audience split on wanting to know more about Mikey getting banned from a farmers market, and wanting to talk about what the duo was making during the stream.

I had at least part of this story as a prompt planned for a while. The rest was just 'I want to write Smarts and Crafts doing something together'.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m hagging out a day early because I’m headed out of town for a couple of days, but I was not about to miss this month’s hag party. I love making infusions and have managed to turn infused witch things into my full time job, so this is my strawberry jam. Strawberry vanilla hibiscus infused mead, specifically.
I try to make at least 2 batches of mead a year; one at Yule to be shared at Midsommar, and the other made at Midsommar to be shared at Yule. It’s a nice way for me to slow down and apply patience (I’ve got zero) to a project, and eventually reap the delicious benefits of waiting for the mead to mature. And it’s very sweet to taste the labors of summer in the middle of winter, and then to taste the warm spices of winter in summer. It’s alcohol-fueled time travel.
This mead is my favorite of all the batches I’ve made, so I made 3 gallons instead of the usual 1 gallon batches I make.
Mead is incredibly easy to make; once you toss everything together, it’s just a waiting game. Here’s the down and dirty but there are many good recipes online if you want something more complex. Sanitizing your equipment is the most important step and you can use San-star from a homebrew supplier, or make your own with a gallon of cool water and about an ounce of household bleach. Everything you use here needs to be sanitized.
You need all this stuff to make a gallon:
2.5 - 3 lbs honey
1/2 pack sweet or dry yeast mead (I used champagne yeast because I like it bone dry)
1 gallon spring or purified water
2 cups berries
Vanilla bean, split and scraped
10 raisins
1/2 cup dried hibiscus flowers
You’ll also want a gallon sized glass carboy, a big funnel, a large cooking pot, a small cooking pot, an airlock, a sieve, a rubber stopper that fits your carboy, and a big spoon to stir with.
Put your honey in your large pot and add about half a gallon of water. Warm it on low just until the honey dissolves. Watch the heat, honey scorches quickly. While it warms, put your clean chopped strawberries into the small pot with about 2 cups of water. Bring it to a low simmer and use a potato masher or an immersion blender to make a purée. Add your hibiscus flowers, heat for a few minutes to let them soften and turn off the heat. When it’s just barely warm, use your sieve to filter out the seeds and flowers.
Once your honey water cools to about 100 degrees, pour it into your clean carboy. Add the other half gallon of water, and your sieved strawberry purée. Top up with additional water if needed, leaving about 3 inches of head room. Add your vanilla beans and raisins. Raisins provide nutrients for the yeast. Sprinkle the yeast on top, but be sure your mixture is 90 degrees or cooler or your yeast will die.
Pop your rubber stopper into the carboy and insert the water filled airlock. Now you wait. Let it ferment for 2 weeks. Most of the activity will have stopped.
Now you need to filter the mead into a second carboy. If you don’t have one, use a sanitized pot or bucket while you wash your carboy for the secondary fermentation. You want to pour or siphon slowly and carefully, using a fine mesh strainer, so you leave most of the settled yeast and bits of strawberry out. Once it’s carefully filtered, add it back to the carboy, put the stopper and airlock back in. Now wait for a long time. This mead should be ready to drink in 6 months, but it’ll be a bit rough and unrefined. You can bottle it at this point, which is what I do, but lots of people just let it age in the carboy. I like heavy duty swing top glass bottles, but wine bottles work too.
If you’re patient, save a few bottles to age for a full year. This is when your mead becomes a nectar fit for gods, with all the roughness gone, and the delicate honey flavor gets complex. Keep your bottles in a cool dark place.
Thank you @msgraveyarddirt for hosting!

Beat the Heat: 10 Refreshing Summer Food and Drink Ideas
Tumblr media
Without a doubt, summer has arrived! And with summertime here, the extreme heat makes everyone feel hot, tired, and uneasy. The most crucial thing to do to be healthy and persevere through this intense heat is to stay hydrated and eat foods that help the body maintain its coolness. There are healthier and more nutritional options available to help you combat the summer heat, even if it’s tempting to go for sweet drinks and ice cream. Cooling down with refreshing drinks, such as mocktails or cocktails, can be a breeze during the summer heat. It helps you quench your thirst, cool you down, and elevates your selection of refreshments.
In the article below, ten cool food and drink suggestions are listed. They can help keep you hydrated and cool on the warmest days of the year.
1. Watermelon: The Hydration Hero
The official fruit of summer and outdoor cookouts is watermelon. It replaces fluids lost through sweat and tastes like a juicy slice of hydration. Rich in antioxidants like lycopene and vitamins A and C, watermelon can help shield your skin from the sun’s damaging rays. While watermelons are a delicious snack to feast on, just as is, there are also multiple different delicious recipes out there. Watermelon is one of the tastiest summertime fruits; its juice is much better. Its hydrating qualities help keep your body moisturized and invigorated, making it incredibly refreshing.
2. Cucumber: Cooling and Crisp
Cucumbers provide a delightful crunch and keep you hydrated because they are over 95% water. They also include silica, which is known to support joint health and maintain the radiance and suppleness of your skin. Savor it in drinks, smoothies, salads, or as a snack with luscious hummus. Refreshing drinks are not only enjoyed but practically required on the hottest summer days, and cucumber is one of the best ingredients for DIY summer drinks. Cucumber and watermelon together are the perfect way to relieve your thirst because it contains two of the most hydrating foods on the planet. An easy recipe with the two includes a nice glass of white wine sangria with watermelon balls, cucumber slices, and lime slices. The most hydrating drink you will ever try!
3. Coconut Water: Nature’s Electrolyte Drink
Coconut water is a healthy substitute for sports drinks in the summertime heat, especially if you are sweating profusely. High in electrolytes like potassium and magnesium, coconut water helps replenish vital minerals lost via sweat and helps maintain appropriate hydration levels. A refreshing glass of coconut water will lift your spirits right away. Its refreshing flavor and subtle sweetness make it the ideal beverage to ward off the summertime blues. Consume enough coconut water if you feel dehydrated since it is an excellent electrolyte.
4. Mint: The Zesty Refresher
Mint is a plant that helps you stay cool and gives your meals a flavor boost. It can be blended into smoothies or used to create cool beverages like mint lemonade. Mint leaves also make a refreshing infusion in water or an addition to salads. For an additional level of hydration and coolness, it’s always a good idea to bring its cold friend, cucumber, over for a delightful spritz in a tall glass of sparkling water.
5. Berries: Bursting with Antioxidants
Not only are berries like raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries delightful, but they are also a great source of antioxidants. These tiny powerhouses can improve your general health and shield your skin from UV harm. Snack on them, puree them into smoothies or mix them with yogurt for a tasty treat. Alternatively, pick some and consume them right from the bush!
6. Citrus Fruits: Vitamin C Boosters
Vitamin C, abundant in oranges, lemons, and grapefruits, boosts immunity and keeps the body cool in the summer. Make your zesty drinks or savor freshly squeezed juices for a nutritious and “Z’esty” boost. The best drink that is easily indulgent is the classic lime juice or lemonade, the most popular summertime beverage. This refreshing drink has ingredients like mint leaves, lemons, sugar, salt, and water. It’s really easy to create and tastes fantastic every single time. In some parts of the world, to add some distinctive flavor, you can also spice up lime juice with additions easily found in the kitchen, like cumin, coriander powder, and black pepper, among others.
7. Yogurt: A Cool, Creamy Delight
There are several ways to enjoy yogurt: a cooling and adaptable snack. In addition to supporting digestive health, it has probiotics and can be cooling on a hot day. Try making flavorful yogurt dips or parfaits with fresh fruit to make your meals filling and light. Unquestionably, one of India’s favorite curd-based drinks is buttermilk, also called chaas. The advantages of chaas, such as a fantastic digestive system, are further enhanced by spices like jeera. Enjoy this delicious masala chaas dish on any hot and sunny day. On the other hand, yogurt can be made into delicious snacks by adding berries to a bowl of plain or flavored yogurt.
8. Cilantro: Flavorful and Fresh
Based on the consensus, you either love or despise cilantro. Some people find it to be a tasty herb that gives every meal a freshness, and some cannot stand the taste of it. However, for those who love cilantro, it tastes great in cold soups, salsas, and salads. It has cooling qualities and improves digestion, and it tastes fantastic.
9. Tomatoes: Juicy and Nourishing
Tomatoes, high in vitamins A and C, also cool and support good skin. Savor them raw or sliced with a little salt for a refreshing snack, or add them to salads or gazpachos. Tomatoes are one of the most versatile foods; they can go into any mainstream dish, be made into a sauce or soup, and add flavor and tang to anything you desire.
10. Leafy Greens: Light and Nutritious
Even though you might be eating lighter over the summer, you don’t have to give up on nutrients. Powerful sources of nutrients are leafy greens, including kale, spinach, and arugula. Their high water content keeps you hydrated and packed with important vitamins and minerals.
Conclusion
In conclusion, stay cool and healthy simultaneously, without compromising taste or flavor, with the help of food and drinks that naturally contain cooling nutrients. You’ll stay hydrated, nourished, and cool as the temperature rises by including these cool foods in your summer diet.

Kurt laughed at Blaine as they stepped out of the taxi in front of the Chinese restaurant where Mike’s party was being held.  Red bags in hand, Blaine was practically bounding on the tips of his toes in excitement. “What has gotten into you?”  Kurt asked, marveling at the enormous grin plastered on the other man’s face. “Kurt, “ Blaine had this incredulous look on his face as he addressed him.  “Have you never been to Jing Fong before?” “Um, no?” “Wait, wait . . or had dim sum, like ever?”
The mention of Julliard again started to make Kurt's pulse race.  He quickly selected a bao (pork bun)  from one of the bamboo steamer baskets littering the table.  As he bit into it to distract himself, Kurt savored the fluffy bun and the sweet and savory pork inside.
Brittany pulled Kurt out of Blaine’s arms and into the kitchen.  “Oooh, Kurt can you make me the pretty pink unicorn drink you made me last week?” She giggled excitedly and clapped her hands as Kurt nodded. Britany practically skipped away after Kurt as she followed him into the kitchen.
Tried to think of what Brittany would consider as a pink unicorn drink that Kurt would have made her. Here's are some ideas ( I imagine, whatever it is, the rim would be covered in pink sugar crystals or some sort of rainbow edible glitter, no?

I'll catch up with responding to some of your past comments as well!

As I procrastinate this lovely, blisteringly hot evening, I would like to share my tips and tricks for everyone who does not have AC this summer. My qualifications are that I grew up without AC for much of my childhood and am currently living without AC right now.
House:
Houses love to get hot so here's a few quick tips to help keep it, and you, cool.
Use the weather to your advantage. When the sun goes down, open your windows, especially in second, third, and higher stories. Heat settles up high so let it out while it is a little cooler. HOWEVER: make sure to close them early (like 4 am early) as the sun is coming up to maximize the amount of cool air that stays in the house.
Make your house a bunker. Close up all your windows, blinds, and cover windows during the day. This especially applies to windows that get direct morning or midday sun. It likes to roast your house so stop it from doing that.
Spend as much time as possible on lower floors. If you have a basement, especially an unfinished one, it can be your best friend. Cooler air sinks, less sunlight, and usually underground are winning combos for basements. Either way though, the lower you are the cooler it is usually.
If you can/need to: insulate the outside, circulate the inside. What that means is create barriers to the outside to stop heat from entering. Put up rolled towels in windows or doors that are not sealed well. Inside, keep doors open and have fans going to circulate the air. This helps it feel cooler and stops it from becoming suffocatingly still.
Don't cook if you can avoid it, or cook outside. Definitely do not bake. If you need to cook or bake, try to do it after the sun sets so you can open the windows and air out the house. Alternatively, use a barbeque, grill, or hotplate outside. There are tons of great recipes and you can do almost all your cooking out there.
Yourself:
As a person, here are some things you can do to keep cool.
Drink a metric ton of water. Self-explanatory but you're going to be sweating a fair amount no matter what so make sure to replace it.
Eat cool foods. I don't necessarily mean popsicles and stuff, although those are great. But consider eating things that are lighter, easy to prepare, and easy to eat (one of my staples this time of year is beans, salsa, and tortilla chips). Also eat things with high water contents like apples, they give a feeling of coolness and help hydrate.
Shower warm. This may seem counter-intuitive but by raising your internal temperature it helps your body acclimatize. Always give yourself like 10 seconds of freezing cold water at the end just before you get out though to feel super cool and amazing.
Wear light clothes. Or wear less clothes. Whatever floats your boat. Wear materials that are breathable (more natural materials like cotton) and avoid heavy materials (like polyesters and wool).
Along with clothes, avoid putting things on your head, wrists, and feet if possible. These are places where we lose a lot of body heat and we are trying to encourage that, so don't cover them. A great thing to do is to blow gently on your wrists, it sometimes gives you the sensation of cooling down slightly when you're just too hot.
If you are overheating, use cool water or towel wrapped ice. Specifically near your face, neck, wrists, elbows, back of the knees, and feet. All of these places have arteries and veins close to the surface so it will help you cool down faster. ALWAYS wrap your ice in a towel or move it around on your skin so you don't get burnt by the ice.
Lay down on hardwood or tile floors. It feels great and helps to leech the heat from your body. Tile works better then hardwood for this but anything is better then carpets and rugs.
Right before bed:
I know tons of people have a hard time sleeping in the heat too so here's some tricks just for that too!
Get Wet. Right before going to bed, have a shower, go swimming, run through a sprinkler, or even wipe yourself down with a wet cloth. Do this right before you go to bed and it helps keep your body cool while you fall asleep. Just make sure to leave yourself a little wet and don't dry off fully so the water can act like sweat and cool you down.
Move where you sleep. If you live in a multi-story house or a room in your home is cooler guess what that's your bedroom now. Find the coolest place to sleep and set up shop there instead. It's better to get a good night's rest then not.
Alternatively, find a different surface to sleep on. If your bed is too hot and you can handle it, move to a tile or wood floor. They stay much cooler then anything made of fabrics.
Sleep without blankets and other people wherever possible. If you still need to or want to sleep with someone, don't share blankets so you don't share body heat. Making a wall of pillows is also great to keep bodies away from each other's heat.
Use a fan! Whether you direct it straight at you or have it oscillate it makes a world of difference!
I hope that helps someone somewhere. This comes from a lot of years of experimentation and errors, but it works for me at least. If anyone has anything else to add throw it in here too!

Traditional Lebanese Lemonade #Refreshing #ChefMate #Lebanon #Beirut #Dearborn #Homemade #Recipe
Ingredients
• 4 limes
• 4 lemons
• 1 teacup sugar
• 1 tbsp rose water
• 1 liter (34 fl oz) cold water
• Ice (optional, but highly recommended for ultimate chill vibes!)
• 1 green apple (for some fun, crisp garnish)
Directions
1. Slice & Dice the Citrus Party: Cut the limes and lemons into 8 pieces each. Think of this step as therapy—channel your inner chef!
2. Hands-On Juicing: Toss the lime and lemon pieces into a large bowl. Add the sugar and then, here's the fun part: get your hands in there! Squeeze, squish, and mash those citrus pieces with your hands and fists until every last drop of juice is released. Bonus points for a mini arm workout!
3. Chill Time: Cover the bowl and let the mixture rest in the refrigerator for 10 minutes. Let those flavors mingle.
4. The Rose Water & Hydration Combo: Take the bowl out of the fridge, add the rose water, and pour in 1 liter of cold water.
5. Strain the Goodness: Grab a mesh strainer and filter the lemonade into a pitcher, leaving behind all the pulp and seeds.
6. Pour, Sip & Laugh: Here’s the fun part—pour the lemonade into a cup with a dramatic flourish (add ice and a slice of green apple for flair). Take a sip, smack your lips, and let out an exaggerated “Ahhh!” because you just nailed Lebanese lemonade!

The simple and flexible recipe allows you to try different tea bases and sweetness levels to create a drink that feels handcrafted just for you.
Ingredients and Recipe
Here's everything you'll need to create this refreshing drink: Ingredients - Two teaspoons of tea leaves (green tea or herbal tea works best) - One large sprig of fresh mint - 2 cups of pure water - Two tablespoons of honey or sugar (optional, to taste) - Juice of 1 lemon or orange (you can switch it up with lime for a different twist) - Tonic water or sparkling water (for that bubbly sparkle) - Ice for serving - Lemon slices and fresh mint for garnish
Step-by-Step Recipe Instructions
Follow these steps to make your perfect Citrus Mint Tea Sparkler: - Brew the Tea Base - Begin by steeping the tea leaves and fresh mint in boiling water. Let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes to allow the flavours to infuse fully. Once ready, strain the tea leaves and mint leaves for a clear tea base. If you prefer a sweeter drink, you can add honey or sugar at this stage. Stir well to dissolve. - Add Citrus Flavor - Squeeze the juice of one lemon or orange into the tea mixture. Stir thoroughly to mix the citrus flavor with the tea. - Prepare the Glasses - Fill your serving glasses with ice, keeping the drink chilled and refreshing. Divide the tea and citrus mixture among the glasses. - Top with Bubbles - Pour tonic water or sparkling water over the tea mixture in each glass. Stir gently to combine but keep some bubbles intact for that refreshing sparkle. - Garnish and Serve - Add a few lemon slices and a fresh sprig of mint on top for garnish. This adds an extra layer of flavor and enhances the visual appeal, making your Citrus Mint Tea Sparkler look as refreshing as it tastes.

Is The Margarita Actually American? A True Cocktail Classic, The Margarita Is A Great Gateway Into Agave Spirits.
— By The Thinking Drinkers | July 3, 2024
Tumblr media
Open Seven Nights a Week, Cantina OK! Sydney is renowned for its distinctive take on the traditional margarita. Photograph By Dexter Kim
Other Than Straight Up, What’s The Best Way To Enjoy Tequila?
Easy. Have it in a margarita. It’s been one of America’s favourite mixed drinks for the past 10 years and it’s a stone-cold tequila, and mezcal, classic. What’s more, it’s a superb sip for summer, it’s simple to make and easy to drink — even if you’re apprehensive about agave spirits. You need, however, to let agave spirits into your life. They were the only spirits to see a rise in UK sales and last year.
Sounds Good. What Is It?
Depending on which bartender you ask, the margarita is a tequila twist on a sour, a sidecar or a daisy – all of which comprise of a base spirit, an acidic component (lemon, lime) and a sweet ingredient (liqueur). The first written recipe, published in a 1953 issue of Esquire, recommended an ounce of tequila, a dash of triple sec and lime or lemon juice — and purists argue that, aside from the addition of a salt rim, a true margarita shouldn’t veer away from this core trio. In this, its most classic form, it’s served either on the rocks, straight up or frozen.
Who Invented It?
Oh no. We were hoping you weren’t going to ask that. No other cocktail’s creation is mired in more mystery. All manner of theories abound — many of which, like the margarita itself, should be taken with a generous pinch of salt.
Several bars, either side of the Mexican border, claim to have been the drink’s birthplace, with some believing it was a Texan Drink, created in homage to either actor Rita Hayworth (whose real name was Margarita Cansino) or singer Peggy (Margaret) Lee in the late 1940s.
Another popular tale is of a Texan Socialite called Margaret ‘Margarita’ Sames who, while living it up in Acapulco, mixed Tequila with Cointreau before adding Lime and a Salt Rim. Known initially as ‘Margarita’s drink’, its popularity spread via her significant social network, which included John Wayne and Tommy Hilton, who added it to the cocktail menu across his Eponymous Hotel Chain.
While the marketing folk at Cointreau push Sames’s story, some hail bartender Carlos ‘Danny’ Herrera as The Creator, claiming he first poured the drink at a Tijuana Roadside Restaurant for a Young Dancer named Marjorie King. Danny served the drink to Majorie, who claimed she was allergic to every spirit other than tequila, in a Stemmed Glass Rimmed with Rock Salt and Christened it ‘Margarita’ — the nearest name in Spanish to Marjorie. When pressed on the exact date for when this happened, Danny wavered between 1947 and 1948. “Three things happen when you get old,” he said. “You lose your memory, and I can’t recall the other two.”
What If You Find Tequila And Mezcal, You Know, A Bit ‘Challenging’?
Just like the Martini and the Daiquiri, the popularity of the Margarita has seen it mutate. Some use additional or Alternative Ingredients, ranging from Chilli and Amaretto to Red Wine, Chartreuse and even Single Malt Scotch whisky.
The Tommy’s margarita, however, is the most iconic twist on the classic. Created in Tommy’s Mexican Restaurant in San Francisco in the late 1980s by owner, and, and Legendary Agave Aficionado, Julio Bermejo, it’s a slightly sweeter version (owing to the use of agave syrup instead of triple sec), which is served on the rocks.

Ingredients:
50ml Ocho Blanco Tequila
25ml Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao
25ml Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
Salt Flakes (Ideally Maldon)
Lime Wedge (Optional)
— Recipe For The Perfect Margarita By Agave Spirits Expert Jess Estes
Method:
Shake all the tequila, dry curaçao and lime juice vigorously in a cocktail shaker before double straining (running the mix through two strainers) into a rocks glass half-rimmed with salt, over cubed ice. Garnish with a lime wedge, if you like.
Where To Drink It?
1. Hacha, London. This awesome agaveria in south London’s Brixton Village is the spiritual home of the sensational mirror margarita. Designed by owner and bartender legend Deano Moncrieffe, it’s entirely see-through and made with the oils of red, white and pink grapefruits.
2. Tommy’s Mexican Restaurant, San Francisco. Hailed as the epicentre of agave spirits in the US and stocking more than 300 tequilas and mezcals, this iconic yet unassuming Mexican restaurant is owned by Julio Bermejo, who tirelessly campaigned for quality 100% agave tequilas in the 1990s.
3. Cantina OK!, Sydney. It’s all about the agave at this tiny, 20-person, hole-in-the-wall bar. Its legendary margaritas are made with hand-sourced tequilas and mezcals, hand-shaved ice and fresh hand-pressed lime juice.
4. 400 Rabbits, Nottingham. A cracking cocktail burrow inspired by Mayaheul, the Aztec deity of the agave plant, who was said to have birthed a bountiful brood of intoxicated rabbits. Expect fun times, knowledgeable staff and great drinks at reasonable prices.

Harvesting Giant White Pears, Refreshing Summer Sugar-Soaked Pear Recipe
Harvest Giant White Pears Summer is the ideal time to harvest giant white pears. These pears are large in size, with smooth white skin, and sweet crispy flesh. The harvesting process not only brings the joy of seeing the fruits from the garden, but also an opportunity to enjoy the fresh air, feel the freshness of nature.
For harvesting, you need to pay attention to choosing fully ripe pears, usually when they have a lighter color and are easily separated from the branches. Gently rotate the pear with your hands to separate it from the tree without damaging the fruit or branches. After harvesting, you should store pears in a cool place or in the refrigerator to keep them fresh for longer.
Cool Sugar-Pickled Pears Recipe for Summer One of the great ways to enjoy giant white pears is to turn them into cool sugar-soaked pears that are both easy to make and great for cooling off on hot summer days.
Material:
4-5 giant white pears
200g white sugar or rock sugar
500ml filtered water
1 pinch salt
A few mint leaves or a few lemon slices for garnish (optional)
How to make:
Pear preparation: Peel the pears, cut them into bite-sized pieces and soak them in dilute salt water for about 10 minutes so that the pears do not darken.
Cooking sugar water: Put 500ml of filtered water and 200g of sugar in a saucepan, heat medium until the sugar is completely dissolved. You can add a little lemon juice so that the sugar water has a slight sour taste, making the dish more attractive.
Pickling pears: Take out the pear, rinse it with clean water, then put it in a glass jar. Pour the cooled sugar water into the jar, cover tightly and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
Enjoy: When serving, you can add a few mint leaves or a few lemon slices to add flavor. This sugar-soaked pear is delicious when served cold, and can be served with ice or mixed with water to cool down the drink.
Cool sugar-soaked pears are not only cooling, but they're also a great way to enjoy the sweet and refreshing flavor of giant white pears during the summer. Have a great experience with this simple recipe!

National Black Cow Day
National  Black Cow Day is observed every year on June 10, the perfect time to celebrate a cold and refreshing beverage when temperatures start getting warmer. Many people also know the black cow as the humble root beer float or ice cream soda. Some people even substitute vanilla ice cream with chocolate ice cream, making it a “brown cow.”
History of National Black Cow Day
A black cow is a beverage made with root beer and vanilla ice cream, which is relished by people of all age groups.
Frank  J. Wisner, hailing from Cripple Creek, Colorado, invented the black  cow. He was the owner of the Cripple Creek Cow Mountain Gold Mining  Company. One night he was thinking about the line of soda waters that were being produced for the citizens of Cripple Creek and that’s when he  came upon the idea for the root beer float. While staring out of his window, he saw the full moon shining on the snow-capped Cow Mountain, which made him think of a scoop of vanilla ice cream. That encouraged him to add a spoonful of vanilla ice cream to the children’s soda Myers  Avenue Red Root Beer. When he took his first sip of the drink, he knew he was onto something great. He named his creation ‘Black Cow Mountain,’ which was later shortened to ‘black cow’ by the local children.
