Alright homies. Time to strap in and strap on for a crap guide to surviving this capitalist hellscape nightmare (because Bezos can suck my dick)
It’s come to my attention that a lot of y’all probably either grew up with access to going to medical professionals, did the walk in clinics, or simply suffered a childhood of feeling miserable but just let sickness run it’s course because who the fuck has money for medical care these days.
I am here to enlighten you that it doesn’t have to be misery all the time. I have been dubbed the mom friend for many reasons, one of which being my innate ability to soothe just about anything that ails you, bandage and package any wound that you probably can forgo the ER (or at least live long enough to get there) and it’s all done for relatively cheap if you know what you’re doing and where to look.
Today’s lesson is what to do when allergies kick your fucking ass because they sure as hell are using mine as a field goal today.
You got a sore throat, but you hate cough drops, cough syrups, all that sticky yucky bullshit that honestly ends up only temporarily soothing the problem and doesn’t actually help? Yeah throw that shit out. What you want is tea. Just buy the off brand shit it works just as well. For soothing a sore throat, get you some green tea and some echinacea (preferably in the same blend but you can have two different boxes) a box of cheap off brand tea will run you about $3.50 a box, so if you need two, that’s $7. You’ll want to add lemon to that (a lemon is like 50¢ I’m pretty sure) and mix it pretty well. Now if you have the money to splurge, you can sweeten it with locally grown honey. That can be expensive though so it’s optional. I know some of us don’t have a lot to spare.
The reason why this works:
Echinacea has antibacterial and anti fungal properties that will help kill the bacteria in your throat that causes the soreness.
Green tea boosts you metabolism, but it also is packed with amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and has a very high count of antioxidants.
Lemon is full of vitamin C which is a great boost to your immune system.
Locally grown honey over regular because it’ll be made with the pollen currently kicking your ass. It’s like giving yourself a tasty vaccination against the local plant sperm.
If you’re needing to sleep, and you’re congested too, or just can’t sleep because of how miserable you feel, you can make this same blend and add chamomile or lavender to it. Chamomile and lavender both provide melatonin to help your body wind down and sleep, but they also have strong anti inflammatory properties that will reduce the inflammation in both your throat and nasal passages. If you’re extremely congested and it’s settling in your chest, add ginger and turmeric instead for a combo that’ll break up that nasty shit quick.
This has been your local lesbian’s insights, now signing off and hoping to not die.

Home Remedies for Asthma Attack Without Inhaler
A rapid and severe worsening of asthma symptoms, such as coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, and tightness in the chest, is known as an asthma attack. The airways narrow and become swollen and mucus-filled during an asthma attack, making it difficult for air to pass through. This may make the sufferer feel as though they are gasping for air or not breathing at all. Exercise, allergens, cold air, respiratory infections, and stress are just a few of the things that might cause asthma episodes. Attacks from asthma can be fatal if left untreated. As a result, in order to prevent more attacks, it's critical to seek prompt medical assistance while having an asthma attack, adhere to an asthma action plan, and take recommended medications.
Sit upright: To help with breathing during an asthma attack, it can be beneficial to sit up straight.
Practice breathing exercises: Exercises in controlled breathing, including belly breathing or pursed-lip breathing, can help you regulate your breathing and lessen discomfort.
Drink warm liquids: Warm drinks, such tea or warm water with honey, can ease symptoms and relax the airways.
Use a humidifier: It can help to release mucus and ease breathing to breathe in moist air. A humidifier can help the air become more moist.
Try herbal remedies: Certain herbs, including licorice, ginger, and turmeric, may have anti-inflammatory effects that can help with symptom relief. But, before using any herbal therapies, it's crucial to speak with your doctor.
Take a hot shower: A hot shower's steam can aid in widening airways and facilitating better breathing.

The reason why ginger ale such as Canada Dry (especially flat) help is usually due to the ginger (not at all from the carbonation really unless you have gas). This may also be why a place with a lot of tea drinking history like Britain may instead opt for something like lemon and ginger tea (especially with honey), as the lemon and honey help sooth the troat while the ginger and the warmth of the tea settle the stomach.
Something such as ginger beer (no it isn't alcohol) can probably also be used, however ginger beer is considered to be spicy to some people, especially younger children and may end up upsetting their stomach with the carbonation from it. Eating slices of ginger on their own isn't something widely enjoyed from my knowlege, but could also help in settling the stomach too.
There may also be additional placebo effect healing due to an association made between a tasty drink and the medicine usually given beforehand which usually tastes very bad. So when feeling sick and drinking a specific drink, the flavor triggers processes that an settle the stomach (although it still needs medicine and rest to recover quickly). This is honestly the only logic I can find for drinking any cola, as it has no lemon or ginger, besides the electrolytes within flavoured drinks also helping in hydrating the body more efficiently, as just straight water can end up going right through you when you're sick.
On the island where I live (in Canada, not the USA), we use the Canada Dry Ginger Ale remedy as well, but instead of eating light foods like crackers or bread with it, we have a certain kind of light, thin cookie we eat too. This cookie is called a gingersnap, as they are flavoured with ginger, and any good gingersnap will snap loudly when broken or bitten into (you can dip them into milk or tea to soften them tho). Part of the reason for this is that the ginger in the cookie makes for a snack much more agreeable with an upset stomach, and the other part is that one of the companies that produces them is based on this island so they are widely available, and the brand is part of the island's heritage and identity so they are beloved. But many people who bake know the recipe too and are usually happy to make a batch and share some with their friends and family members who are sick so that they can at least not be sick AND hungry.
And put where you're from in the tags if you're comfortable w it!!!

Home Remedies to Cure Bad Breath Naturally
Bad breath, also called halitosis, is a common problem that can happen to anyone. It can lead to embarrassment and anxiety, impacting social interactions. Fortunately, there are natural remedies that can help you tackle this problem effectively. This blog will explore several home remedies to help you get rid of bad breath, focusing on easy-to-implement solutions.
What is Halitosis?
Halitosis can be caused by various factors, including poor oral hygiene, certain foods, and underlying health issues. It often stems from bacteria in the mouth that produce foul-smelling compounds. To combat this, it's essential to understand the root causes of bad breath and how to address them.
Natural Remedies for Bad Breath
While professional dental care is essential, dentist advice often includes natural remedies that can help combat this problem effectively. From simple home practices to refreshing herbal solutions, these natural methods can keep your breath fresh without harsh chemicals.
1. Stay Hydrated
One of the simplest ways to combat bad breath is by drinking plenty of water. Drinking plenty of water helps rinse away food bits and bacteria in your mouth. Additionally, water stimulates saliva production, which plays a vital role in neutralizing odors. Aim for at least eight glasses of water daily to keep your mouth fresh.
2. Herbal Mouthwash
Using a natural mouthwash can significantly improve your breath. You can create a simple herbal mouthwash at home using ingredients like:
Peppermint oil: Known for its refreshing scent, peppermint oil has antibacterial properties that can help combat the bacteria responsible for bad breath.
Clove oil: This oil is known for its antiseptic properties and can help kill bacteria in the mouth.
To make your mouthwash, mix a few drops of peppermint or clove oil in a glass of water and swish it around in your mouth for 30 seconds before spitting it out.
3. Baking Soda
Baking soda is a versatile ingredient that can help neutralize odors in the mouth. It works by balancing the pH level in your mouth, making it less conducive for bacteria to thrive.
How to use baking soda for bad breath:
Mix one teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of water.
Use this mixture as a mouth rinse or brush your teeth with it once a week.
4. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar (ACV) is another effective remedy for bad breath. It can help balance the pH levels in your mouth and kill odor-causing bacteria.
Using ACV:
Dilute one tablespoon of ACV in a glass of water and drink it before meals.
Alternatively, you can use it as a mouthwash by mixing it with water.
5. Green Tea
Green tea contains polyphenols that can reduce bacteria in the mouth and improve breath freshness. Drinking a cup of green tea can help combat halitosis effectively.
Tips for using green tea:
Brew a cup of green tea and enjoy it without added sugar.
You can also use cooled green tea as a mouthwash.
6. Fresh Herbs
Chewing on fresh herbs like parsley, mint, or cilantro can provide a natural way to freshen your breath. These herbs contain chlorophyll, which helps neutralize odors.
How to use fresh herbs:
Keep a few sprigs of parsley or mint handy and chew on them after meals to help combat bad breath.
You can also blend these herbs into smoothies for added benefits.
Foods to Avoid
While certain foods can help freshen your breath, others can contribute to halitosis. Dairy products, in particular, can lead to bad breath for some people. This is because they contain proteins that can produce sulfur compounds when broken down in the mouth. If you notice that dairy worsens your breath, consider reducing your intake or opting for dairy alternatives.
Proper Oral Hygiene
Keeping your mouth clean is essential for avoiding bad breath. Here are some simple steps to follow:
Make sure to brush your teeth at least twice a day : Use toothpaste with fluoride to help get rid of food bits and plaque effectively.
Floss daily: Flossing helps eliminate food particles stuck between your teeth, reducing the chances of bacteria growth.
Clean your tongue: Use a tongue scraper or your toothbrush to gently clean your tongue, where bacteria can accumulate.
Sugarless Gum
Chewing sugarless gum can stimulate saliva production, which helps wash away food particles and bacteria. Look for gum containing xylitol, as it has been shown to reduce cavity-causing bacteria in the mouth.
If you're wondering how to get rid of bad breath, incorporating these natural remedies into your routine can help significantly. From staying hydrated to using herbal mouthwashes and maintaining proper oral hygiene, you have many options at your disposal. Remember, if bad breath persists despite these efforts, it may be time to consult a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying health issues. Take charge of your oral health and enjoy fresher breath naturally!
