His immediate family consists of him, his parents, and his siblings Abeer, Ghadeer, Hassan, and Mazen. Ghadeer is in Algeria right now, the rest of them are trapped in Gaza. They are trying to evacuate out of Gaza. She is fundraising to try to evacuate herself and her surviving family members out of Gaza. He is in urgent need of medical treatment and surgeries. He has lost many family members, including his aunt and her children and husband. What to do when someone close to you is diagnosed with mental illness?

The best way to help someone experiencing a mental health challenge is to offer a listening ear and let them know you are there for them.

Listen & encourage professional support: Often, we have a strong desire to ‘fix’ or ‘solve’ someone else’s problem, however, this is not your role and should be left to a professional. The best thing you can do is to help them find an appropriate service through a GP, mental health phone line, mental health service or by searching online.

Acknowledge your own feelings: It is normal to feel a range of powerful — and often unpleasant — emotions such as anger, shame, embarrassment, guilt, self-blame, hurt and grief when a loved one behaves in a way that is difficult to understand or deal with. Opening conversations around suicide and educating yourself about their mental challenge may help with processing your own emotions.

Practise self-care: Self-care is not selfish, but a necessity if you are supporting someone with mental illness, to avoid getting to the point where you experience fatigue or burn-out. Go back to the basics: get enough sleep, do some regular physical activity, eat well, spend time with friends or loved ones, and engage in activities or hobbies that you enjoy.

Get support: Having someone close to you who lives with mental illness can be overwhelming and frustrating, sometimes confusing and isolating too. But you do not have to go through it alone.

Today I sleep and sleep and sleep and sleep. I wake up in between, but I sleep. It has been three or four weeks of not getting a full night's sleep and I am done with it. My body finally gives in and overpowers the mysterious forces of my new medication.

It does not result in a good night's rest, but at least I don't feel as exhausted as I usually do. Tomorrow I see my therapist and I wonder what he will say.

One more night.

National Hot Dog Day

National Hot Dog Day celebrates the popular cooked sausage, which many times is eaten in a bun. Hot dogs gained in popularity in the United States in the early 20th century, and are similar to frankfurters and wieners, which take their names from Frankfurt, Germany, and Vienna, Austria. In the United States, hot dogs were traditionally sold at hot dog stands and carts, and were prominent in New York City, as well as Chicago. They have become a prominent part of American culture, and have been closely associated with baseball. Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest and the Oscar Meyer Wienermobile have also become cultural icons.

How to Observe National Hot Dog Day

The day should be spent eating hot dogs! There are many types of hot dogs you can try, as well as various types of condiments that can be put on them. Maybe today you can try a style of hot dog you've never had before! If you don't want to make your own, there are plenty of good restaurants you can buy some at.
