Hey guys, I wanted to tell you about the Ihyaa' initiative. My friend Mohammed Ayesh, who's been our vetter on the ground in Ghazzah for the last year or so, wants to make a space and provide resources for University students to complete their studies in a proper learning environment, along with providing food parcels, stationary, and other essentials. You may have heard of the Isnad initiative! It's very similar to the Ihyaa' initiative but it's located elsewhere. They had to find the right room to use as a classroom for the Ihyaa' initiative and they're going to be paying rent of 2000$ for it. Mohammed Ayesh has informed me that starting on Monday this rent will begin.

University students are the foundation of a better and rebuilt Ghazzah! If you want to help Ghazzah rebuild, this is one of the first steps you can start assisting with.

Gaza has no food - How your donations are essential in helping Gazans survive

"Gaza has no food," "At least 798 Palestinians have been killed at aid distribution point," "85% of Gaza's population have entered the 'fifth stage' of malnutrition," you have heard of all this, and I will not go into detail. In response to this, I have heard a lot of people asking - some out of genuine concern, others as an excuse not to help - "If Gaza has no food, how will donating to individual families help?"

But your donations do help Gazans get food, and it is now more important than ever. Here is how (information provided by my friend Ibrahim (@aburakhiaibrahim) (help him here)):

Official aid is severely restricted as Israel has forbid food supplies from entering Gaza. Aid is funneled through the "Gaza Humanitarian Foundation," which is infamous for their daily massacres of Palestinians.

Some markets in Gaza still have some food, here is where food from the markets come from:

Aid from GHF. Some people are selling aid for an exorbitant price

Food produce from Gaza's farmlands. This constitutes 10% of Gaza's vegetable supply. Again, they are sold at a really high price.

This is all the food left in Gaza.

There are grassroot efforts sourcing food and distributing aid as well, but distribution relies on personal networks. Hence, depending on the location and access, some people receive nothing at all.

This is the food your donations enable Ibrahim's family to purchase. These are all the food items left for 28 people! 28 PEOPLE!!! These supplies are not enough for even a meal for 28 people, yet this is all they have left! As a result, Ibrahim and his family are heavily rationing their food, and they have not eaten anything for 5 days!

Other than food, they also need money for Samir's operation! Samir's condition has worsened due to a lack of food and medicine. And now his father Ahmed is also injured and cannot find food for his children!

Ahmed's son may lose his foot and his other son is currently missing! Please help them!

Ahmed (@ahmedsammer12) has been texting me and he is very worried about his son Samir. Samir has been severely injured in the foot. Ahmed has taken him to multiple hospitals in Gaza but none of them have been able to help as the operation Samir requires is very complicated! Samir may lose his foot if the surgery he needs is not performed! They wish to travel outside of Gaza as soon as possible so that Samir can get the operation he needs, but travel expense is expensive and prices only continue to rise in Gaza, so they need your donation to do so!

Moreover, Ahmed's younger son Saeed is missing. They have received no news about Saeed. People keep telling them that Saeed may have already been killed or have been taken prisoner. Hani (@dawoudi) has not eaten anything for 7 days. For 7 days he has consumed 0 kcal/day. He and his wife are not eating just so their children can eat. He told me that he enjoys seeing his kids eating more. He told me he has lost a lot of weight. I am really worried.

I have been messaging with Hani since last October. I sincerely think that he is one the kindest and most selfless person I have ever had the honour of knowing. Despite his own struggles, Hani founded and has been continuously running @/gazavetters. The @/gazavetters vetted list has been growing rapidly the past few months, a testimony to the hard work of Hani and the gazavetters team, yet Hani's own fundraiser often go for days without donations.

Surviving a genocide is difficult and stressful, to say the very least. What you can see online is just the tip of the iceberg. Everything Hani told me in private just made me admire him more. From him telling me about Darine, his children, @/gazavetters and helping other Palestinians in Gaza, it is evident how much love he has in his heart, love for not only his family but also for strangers he does not even know.

I know he is not going to stop worrying about the people around him, especially his children. I just hope he is also taking care of himself, I just hope that he also gets to eat. But to be able to get food, he needs our support. Please help him buy food in the market so he can eat.
