much like his mother, rory is scottish. he has the thickest accent.

his father dipped before shannon even knew she was pregnant, having been called back to england. he had only been in scotland on a vacation. rory never knew his dad, shannon hasn't even disclosed the man's name.

somehow dodged the bright ginger hair of his mom's side of the family. it's not entirely gone, his hair does shine a bit red in direct sunlight.

shannon is reminded of danica, another blake without red hair, every time she sees her son's dirty blond hair.

grew up in blake castle. shannon was still maintaining the keep & hosting the games. plus, it's their ancestorial home.

now that he's eighteen, shannon has let him join the next generation of mystery inc. rory gets to leave the country / travel the world solving mysteries with his cousins & velma's adopted kid(s).

he's more of a fanatic trap-maker than a researcher. uncle fred likes to joke that even if his twins didn't get his enthusiasm for traps, at least his nephew did.

though, not many mysteries require a trap to catch the villain of the week, rory's more often using his charm to interview people involved, getting them to like him & divulge more information than they might've given in a group setting.

has made an appearance on spittin' cryptic!! it was the first ever episode; yako wanted to do an episode on the loch ness monster as the story his dad seeing the tail as they left scotland is what made yako interested in cryptids in the first place. rory was freshly fifteen at the time.

when the dvd set of the first season came out, there was a bonus "behind the scenes" house tour of blake castle.

like all blakes before him, rory has a knack for getting into trouble. "family history of... getting trapped in overly complicated booby traps of our own design," as his mother says. he also has a knack for getting out of trouble. it's a combination of self-defense classes (both by his relatives & by professional instructors) & experience with getting in & out of trouble so many times before.

not immune to saying the most outta pocket bullshit about houses as if it's perfectly normal. he grew up in a castle for heaven's sake!

"where's your candy?" "in the pantry??" "but that's where food goes??" "candy is food??" "but what about the basement candy shelf." "rory. no one else has a basement candy shelf. that's not a thing!"

helped with the highland games all throughout his childhood & teenage years. he plans on returning every year to help as needed, taking time out of mystery solving to do so.

has a pet ferret!! her name is noodle & she's a year old. noodle comes on investigations, sitting in rory's hoodie pocket or the hood itself.

he's not allowed in the labs or to help with experiments because he made this joke one too many times:

he also made this joke to uncle shaggy one too many times (chasing shaggy included) & is not allowed to hang out with yako if shaggy's going to be there.
