It's crazy how people can reject the very heart of the film Nosferatu 2024. Named the relationship between Ellen & Orlok.

Note that no one among the Orlok & Ellen fans denies that she loves Thomas, at least, I have never seen any fans of Orlok & Ellen claim otherwise.

Simply, we also integrate the fact that she has sexual desire for Orlok (because she is sexually frustrated with Thomas) and also a deeper connection than that with him on an aspect of her that only he can understand.

In cinema, it's mostly what happens on screen that matters, even if the dialogues have a certain importance and must be well done, they are not really the main attraction.

At the limit, people will recognize the erotic aspect between the vampire and the girl, but nothing more, refusing the aspect of connection that we are talking about.

And again, either some will accept that Ellen desires Orlok, but others will say that it is only a desire resulting from Orlok's manipulation thanks to his powers.

While the film is very clear.

Not only is it a relationship based on eroticism but also on a deeper connection linked to the darkness in Ellen, an aspect of her that only Orlok can understand, and some romantic undertones between the two characters.

Seriously, in the interviews we talk about a love triangle. Of the vampire in love with Ellen. Of a sexual awakening (contradicting the idea that some fans have that Orlok forces this sexual desire in a "magical" way in Ellen) and of a love between a girl and a demon. Not to mention the take on inspiration from Death and the Maiden, the Beauty and the Beast and Wuthering Heights ! But yeah... nothing romantic between the girl and the monster at all here...

Captain Curly (Mouthwashing) - When You Can't Fix Everything and Why He's a Victim of Jimmy

There are many discussions surrounding Captain Curly all around the internet on whether he is a good person or not.

Some say he isn't while some say he is, but the question simply has an easy answer.

Curly is a morally grey character.

Captain Curly, when we first play as him and see through his perspective, we come to learn a lot about him with the short amount of sections where we do play as him.

We know that he is very optimistic, he cares deeply for his crew and always tries to look on the bright side of things. He just wants everything to be fine, and will always try to fix it if it isn't because, well because he's the captain.

But him being so optimistic is what was his downfall, and I think that's what makes him such a well written and realistic, morally grey character.

Curly isn't innocent, but he is a victim of Jimmy just like everyone else on the ship is.

Let me explain.

Curly was the first person Anya told about when Jimmy assaulted her and how she was pregnant, and Curly told her he would talk to Jimmy.

He would fix it.

I hate when people say that he didn't care about Anya or didn't believe her. Curly never said he didn't believe her, and he never said he was defending Jimmy either.

This is one of the examples of his optimistic views doesn't work out for him.

We know that Curly invited Jimmy to work with him in Pony Express and we immediately assume that because they're friends, then Curly is defending Jimmy.

But if you replay and really pay attention to Curly and Jimmy's conversations, you come to realize that Jimmy is borderline controlling and abusive with the way he talks to Curly.

He isn't and doesn't see Curly as a friend, but Curly being too nice and tends to look past that type of stuff, that made it easy for Jimmy to manipulate Curly.

After Anya told him, Curly did talk to Jimmy about it, but he went about it in a calm way. I think what he did is pretty realistic for the situation they're in, but I'll talk more about that later.

Curly talking to Jimmy is what led Jimmy to crash the ship and get Curly injured and fuck everything else up. Not to mention that Jimmy wanting to get rid of Curly so he could be captain also played a huge part in it.

Jimmy never saw Curly as a friend, he only saw him as someone he could use to get what he wanted.

Curly trying to fix what happened by talking to Jimmy was his wake up call, his karma in a way.

Because of the crash, Curly understands Anya in a way when Jimmy starts to hurt and force him to take the pain meds. Curly being brutally hurt and injured can only lay and not do anything to stop it.

He finally understood what Anya had felt in a way, and he probably hates himself because he didn't do something to protect her.

And her killing herself in front of him and watching the rest of his crew die to the hands or consequences of Jimmy, even Jimmy himself, was what made Curly realize that he simply can't fix everything.

Curly is absolutely a victim of Jimmy like everyone else on the ship is.

He was manipulated, abused, and not to mention Jimmy literally ate some of his body. All of this was because Curly was too optimistic.

Curly is one of the most realistic characters, and I think people saying that he's as bad as Jimmy just aren't thinking about the fact that he was a victim of Jimmy himself.

Yes, he could have done more to protect Anya, most likely by switching her over to a room that has locks.

But I believe that he couldn't do anything besides that, especially when it comes to Jimmy.

He knows how crazy and angry Jimmy gets. He was probably thinking that he couldn't just go up to him and start a fight because, let's be real, Jimmy was going to kick Curlys ass and he was probably going to crash the ship no matter what.

Curly, in my opinion, while yes, he didn't do anything to protect Anya, he wasn't protecting or defending Jimmy.

Curly was trying to look at how he could fix it, but I think no matter what he did it wouldn't have mattered.

I see people saying that Curly could have shot Jimmy with the gun or locked him up in another room or contacted the higher-ups of Pony Express. I don't think any of this would have realistically worked.

One, he can't kill Jimmy because he is the co-pilot, and they needed a co-pilot for the ship, and locking him in a room wouldn't have worked either.

Curly couldn't have called the higher ups either because Pony Express wouldn't have done anything because they simply just don't care about their workers.

No matter what Curly did or what he could have done, none of it realistically would have worked or done anything to solve the problem.

I'm not defending Curly at all, I'm a victim of assault myself, so I understand Anyas feelings, I'm simply saying that we should look at the other possibilities and should start thinking about what Curly was actually thinking before saying he was as terrible as Jimmy.

His optimistic views on life and on people are what caused his downfall.

The bitter enemies to lovers dynamic works much better with Hermione, Ron, Neville or Ginny than with Harry, as they all have much more limited perspective and interactions with Draco. Basically any Gryffindor but Harry, lol. I have zero interest in any of those pairing for this reason (and many others, but not relevant here). Thoughts?

Yup. To each their own. I do enjoy the "bitter enemies to lovers" trope - some of my early ships include kylux, baneblake, and lawlight, which all fit that description nicely. The thing is, it's all about hwat is most interesting and works best with the characters. So, while I think that type of dynamic can be interesting and realistic for some pairings, it just doesn't work with drarry from my point of view because that's not who the characters are. And it's also not what's most interesting or striking about their relationship.

The really special and unique thing about drarry is yes there's enmity and rivalry and conflict and later there's a literal war that they find themselves on opposite sides of. But for all that, they never truly hate each other. Even when they should, they can't bring themselves to. For all that they may distrust each other and fight and even hurt each other, whenever one is truly in danger the other always helps him.

And for all that there should be no trust between them, Draco sends his friends away and turns his back on Harry when they are in the train compartment in book 6, because he knows Harry won't attack him from behind while he is alone and vulnerable (and he's right). And moments later when Harry finds himself incapacitated and completely at Draco's mercy, he is angry, but he isn't afraid that Draco will torture or kill him or turn him over to Voldemort, even though he (correctly!) believes that Draco is a Death Eater (and he's right!!!). That's so complex and unique and interesting! That's what draws me to the ship.

That's not to say that post-war they would immediately fall into each other's arms or that Harry would suddenly completely trust Draco wasn't up to anything or tolerate Draco mistreating his friends, or that Draco would instantly unlearn all his prejudices overnight. There would be a process. And that creates great fodder for fic. But in my opinion it wouldn't look like a story of enemies who truly hate and want to harm each other being inexorably drawn together, because neither Harry nor Draco ever really wanted that.

Remember that not only did Draco say "I can't be sure," but also after book 6 Harry downplayed or downright concealed many of Draco's crimes on the astronomy tower. And in the Room of Requirement not only did Harry save Draco, but Draco also tried to intervene to stop Crabbe & Goyle harming Harry, even tho by that time he was wandless - and indeed the next time we see him a Death Eater has drawn his wand on him, and seems to think Draco is no longer on his side....

Its funny you bring up the children in Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss because there was literally a situation where like what a 9-10 year old was at a Hazbin convention asking Blake Roman an inappropriate question regarding Angel Dust. It is so mind boggling to watch. Hazbin and Helluva are supposed to be for adults (+18) but the both shows don’t seem adult despite covering big topics like rape, kinks, etc. It feels like 2 kids in a trench coat attempting to sneak into a R rated movie.

At the day it’s the parent’s responsibility and they should be called out. Running for your life as a bad blood wasn’t everything that you’ve heard. Yeah, it dangerous when at every turn you could find yourself headless. Where you had to hide the signal of your ship encase an enforcer was tracking it. Where you couldn’t go to the markets. Couldn’t do anything but hide and keep your head down at all times. One slip up could be the end of the line for you.

Sometimes, being on the run was fun.

One enforcer you loved to tease and trick was Assassin. He was just that. An assassin. You were just a little quicker than him, a little smarter than him. You kept him just close enough he could catch your scent but too far for him to catch you. It was exciting. The racing of your heart. The adrenaline dump.

This was all because you killed a Yautja who deserved it. Yet, the courts didn’t see it that way and deemed you a bad blood. Before they could execute you right there, you had slipped out right from underneath their mandibles. You were gone before anyone noticed in time.

Now, on the run from anyone who would love your skull as a trophy, you play a game of predator and prey with Assassin. He’s meant to be one of the best. Top of line. Engineered to be able to take on anything. But he couldn’t catch you. The times you’ve caught a glimpse of his face afterwards was so delicious to watch.

Yet, you knew this game would come to an end. Either from a slip up or he finally changes his plan. When that day would come, you savor it by the look on his face. He would then catch his prey, once and for all.

That day had come.

You weren’t expecting it either. For each time the two of you would meet, you thought you would’ve been able to notice it. Like the pieces of a puzzle falling into place. No, it wasn’t like that. Assassin had come to you like a spacecraft with no airbrakes. He was done playing these games with you. He would take what he needed from you. That meant you entirely.

Though, the bounty didn’t need you alive, just the head or video proof of a bad bloods death, he hauled you onto his ship. Your hands were cuffed tightly behind you, preventing any comfort. Assassin had a death grip on the crook of your elbow and nearly was dragging you up the steps.

Since he was engineered to be the way he was, Assassin was massive in height and mass. He easily towered over your average male size. Despite knowing death was soon to come, you scanned him from head to toe with a smirk. If you were to die today, at least one of the last things you got to see was his delicious body.

“You finally-ack!” you tried to make a snarky remark when he shoved a ball of cloth into your mouth. A glare was set on him for a moment before you spit the fabric out. “That’s rude. I was trying to congratulate you with words for finally catching me.” You huffed and started to purposefully dragging your feet along the ramp.

Assassin gave you no chances. He spun around and hauled you up onto his shoulder before you could even make a sound. A death grip held onto the crook of your knee as he marched up into the belly of his ship. Armor protected the only section you were close enough to bite. You growled and tried to pull free from your bindings. That failed.

“I know you didn’t have to keep me alive. What’s the occasion?” Assassin’s deadly claws bit deeper into your skin. The pain was well worthy it. “You wanted to get a good look at me? The one to deceive you all of this time. Where are you going to put my skull?” You know this will only bring your death quicker, but why not fuck with him before then?

Nothing is said by the brute. He continues deeper into his ship and passes into a room.

Trophies lined the wall. A room you knew well of. A trophy room for any Yautja to gave no matter their occupation. Everyone has one of these. Including yourself on your own ship.

One you’ll never see again.

You are ungracefully thrown off of his shoulder against a wall. A grunt leaves you. Assassin moves quick to secure bands around your biceps that are chained to the wall. He steps away to look at you for a moment. When he deems you secure, he marches over to the work bench and plops down on a stool. But, he makes no move to kill you. He just stays there at the desk.

After everything you’ve done to rile him up, you would’ve thought he’d kill the moment he could. Assassin keeps pushing it back. You tug on your bonds and find no place to escape. This was the end of the line for your game. You leaned against the wall and ignored the discomfort in your arms.

“What’s it going to be, Assassin?” you questioned his method of death. “Gonne drag it out? Make me suffer for all the trouble I put you through? Or do you wanna just get done and over with?” Who knows what he may do. Depends on how angry you’ve made him. On what he wants to put you through.

A chest rumbling growl sounded from Assassin. If it was anyone else, you might have been terrified. Your body reacted in a way you didn’t think it could.

In his anger, Assassin stomped back up to your chained form, towering over you. His mandibles were flared wide, shoulders heaving with each breath he took. Fear pierced your heart as you looked up at him. You narrowed your eyes, pulling your mandibles close in. He wasn’t close enough to bite.

His hand wrapped around your throat and cut off air supply. Your narrowed gaze widened. Instantly, you tried to bend down and bite his arm. Anything to free yourself from this slow, painful death he was pushing you towards.

“You have been a pain in my side since I was assigned to you,” he snarled and applied more pressure to the point it felt like he was about to snap your neck. Only sounds of your choking were able to slip out. Nothing could slip, not even a drop of oxygen to delay the inevitable. Your hands clawed wildly at the wall behind you. The sounds terrible on your ears even as you stare to lose consciousness.

“I do not how you continue to do it. Every pauk-de time, escaping my clutches. You disgusting scum of a Yautja. You do not deserve to even look upon me!” His talons dug into the back of your neck, drawing out more pain. You felt yourself going limp in his hold. You saw the recognition, the satisfaction growing in his eyes when he noticed as well.

This is how you were going to die.

“Your escapes stop today, scum. I have caught you.” At the last possible moment, his hand lets air back into your lungs. Your body violently surges for what it could consume. You cough and choke, panting for each breath you were given. “I have plans for you.”

A shutter ran through your already trembling frame. Your head whipped up, mandibles flaring. “You think you have me. But you will fail. That’s all you’re good at,” you snarked back at him.

Assassin immediately retightened his hold and cut off your air once more. His own fangs flared wide challenging your own. Despite the loss of air, you don’t back down. You push against his hold to go toe to toe with him.

For a flicker of a moment, Assassin’s bright eyes darted down your frame then back to your eyes. Your anger falter for a second afterwards until you pulled it back with a full force. Assassin shoved you flush with the wall again. His free hand touched at your exposed chest. You weren’t expecting to get snagged in the middle of sleeping.

Sharp claws sliced through your scales, leaving scars in their wake. Your jaw tightened to hold back any noises of pain. Then, his fingers touched the waistband of your pants. Your thoughts are short circuited. Yet, you didn’t oppose to stopping his hand.

His digits slipped underneath the fabric. The lack of air was making you loopy again. Your eyes grew unfocused while trying to maintain eye contact with him. You grow slack against your bonds once more. Assassin pulls his grip away from your throat and lets you gasp for needed air again. You fight against the chains holding you to the wall while snarling.

“Fucking let me go. Either kill me or let me go!” you shouted at him and ignored the pain of the metal digging into you. The advanced Yautja ignores your words. Instead, he grips at the fabric of your pants and tears it free from your body. You choked and narrowed your eyes. The color of them reflected the rage you felt building inside of you. Ready to boil over at any point. “I’ll kill you for that!”

Either too focus on his internal mission or purposefully ignoring you, Assassin scoops up both of your legs and pins them to his chest. Your feet hang over his shoulders, barely long enough to reach that far up his body. He reaches between your bodies. A metal click sounds. Then, you feel the heat and wetness of him tapping at the swell of your butt cheek.

You snorted and kept your gaze locked on his face. “That’s all? I can barely feel it.” Assassin snarls. His head turns and fangs latch onto your ankle. Teeth dig deep into your muscles and drawing blood to the surface when he pulled away. You don’t give him the satisfaction of crying out or flinching. “Go pauk yourself.”

A scary, evil grin spreads across his features. You felt the color drain from your face. That dark colored Yautja keeps himself pressed to your pinned body. Pain is sharp. There is no relief, no sign of stopping. Assassin moves like its his last day in the universe. His anger drives each new pounding into you. There was no time to recoup from this. He makes you take and take and take. He doesn’t care about if you can handle it or not. He’s just using you for his own pleasure. It doesn't want you to compare the two ships because it makes it clear that her fantasy is a dream that will never come true. There is no ship comparison to make because there is no other ship. It doesn't want you to hate her because it gives her traits that show that her true motivation is respect for Twilight, the guy we're supposed to connect with and root for - respect to the point where she doesn't even consider lying to him to get in his good grades.

Nightfall's story is not about her being the "annoying hypotenuse" or the "deceiving, seducing vixen"... it's currently tragic. She dedicates her entire being to make herself worthy of the man she's in love with, and that blinds her to what exactly he truly finds worthy in another person. So she ends up being the exact opposite of that and giving him a 100% wrong idea. And it's also, ultimately, not what will make her happy. No-one becomes happy by dedicating their entire being to becoming perfect for someone else, we become happy when we're accepted for who we are.

And idk Nightfall is an amazing flip on such tropes and it's done so simply that I honestly wish to see more of her, and to see her grow and realize where she's gone wrong and to try and focus on her own happiness. A happiness she can reach by being honest to herself first and foremost, and by not being aggressive towards people she thinks are being "obstacles" on her way towards it.

removed from any shipping its genuinely notable to me that rodya seemingly latches on to gregor from the start. of course shes doing her little facade (and if you go back to the earlier episodes now, its a lot more egregious and easier to notice) but its curious that out of any of the sinners, its him she actively chooses to interact with and drop a nickname on first

shes very very teasing especially initially and seems to target him for his arm, a lot of her comments being based on him being bugmoded. it honestly could look cruel especially with the full context we have now, though notably these do all take place pre-gregor revelations, but if you jump to this being a signifier of rodya bullying/wanting to get actual pain or upset out of gregor you'd have to skip over this scene

which is both silly but also i feel pretty significant for understanding something about the two of them and their relationship:

gregor is not actually a helpless pushover who lets himself be walked over and he will speak up if a line is crossed for him

rodya can read and understand when he's distressed, gets hesitant and will back off. her intention is not actual upset from gregor

what's important to me in my read of rodya is that she does have a facade, deliberately to be charming and likable, but i dont think her buttonpushing/ragging on of gregor (and later the other sinners) is actually entirely part of that, i think its the opposite. showing real honest affection is something difficult to her, so she skips a few steps and jumps straight into poking fun like you would with someone youve known a long time.

I think her "true" personality isn't cold and calculative, from further story context i interpret it as more jaded and sarcastic. these moments to me read as a sort of fumble or early mask slip, she's not baring it all with these bits but she has singled out gregor in her mind and is particularly hovering (based on how the majority of both of their interactions throughout are from the very start with eachother) around him, trying to get closer in an awkward way.

I think people miss that theres a lot you can take and learn about rodya from their interactions, whether its because of a focus on shipping or trying to outright deny there is anything going on there at all
