Its so weird, because i am a huge Marius fan, and you put many reasons why he is my absolute favorite character as things why he SUCKS! Its so cool to me, to read something so accurate and then have someone put out a completely different opinion on it! (i do not think he is Good, none of them are. But i think he is cool, his better qualities resonate with me the most of all the characters, i love lore, and i love reading about him the most)

There are few things, that i do not understand and it bothers me endlessly! I just can't figure out where some readings come from, very sinserely (because i want to respect other readings and interpretations), maybe you could help me understand?

First: that Marius dislikes being challenged and tries to "keep Armand to himself"(generalizing) - as i read it, Marius prefers people who challenge him, can stand up to him. All of his paramours are like that - Pandora, Bianca, Armand, Lestat, Daniel..even Botticelli actively defy him, in a way other characters don't and Marius himself is vocal on that being something he admires about them. He does not know how to deal with that, oh no, but he loves it - the fire he himself does not possess. He also actively helps Armand learn about his culture and family, ready to be left behind when they visit Kievan Rus. He also never shows any type of concern about Armands "daytime" personal connections. As i remember, he encourages it decpite objections, actually.. My personal reading is that most drama and abuse between Marius and Armand is about Marius refusing the codependency Armand desperatly wants. (and them being oppisitely unhealthy about that)

Second: there is a notion, that Marius would not want Armand to grow up? And i do not understand where it comes from at all... Marius actively states (and thinks) that his own wish is to see Armand grown into a Man and he refuses time and time again to turn him before then (or to turn him at all) , until Armand is on the deaths door. (i also saw a thing about shaving, but all of them are shaved before the turning as an old ritual, canonically, i believe, only Santino is unshaved so. I might be wrong tho lol. One of canon reasons (again, if my memories are not faulty) - facial and body hair might go in and out of style, so clean shave helps them blend in better)

I you would spare some time to let me understand where those come from i would be forever grateful, because i sometimes think i am blind (and i might be! Thats why i ask. I am a bit scared that i might be percieved in bad faith, but if i have a blindspot i will not see it myself, so getting outside help is the only way haha)

I think that the reason a lot of my Marius posts seem to contradict parts of canon is bcus Marius is a very self contradictory character. His wants are often in conflict with each other, and in his relationship with Armand he is always warring between conflicting desires.

First: I definitely agree that Marius seeks out people who challenge him and does rlly enjoy it (to an extent lol). but the way I perceive it, marius likes to be challenged *to an extent*. He doesn’t want a partner who will be weak and docile with him, he wants a partner he’ll need to fight into being docile and he wants to loose that fight<3.He prefers someone with some fire in them, clearly, based on his choice of lovers lol. And I think this is bcus Marius likes the chase, like any vampire. He likes the thrill of being with someone who makes him hurt for it a little bit, he likes fighting and arguing and struggling to stifle a spark he knows is too bright to put out. But also, like most ppl lol, Marius likes to be challenged only so much as he isn’t challenged to the point of having to change himself. He doesn’t want to change his perspective, whenever a partner of his gets him to rethink how he thinks or acts he tends to get rlly mad. He wants to be challenged as long as it’s fun, if he’s uncomfortable or feeling like he might actually adopt a new perspective or change as a person he puts a stop to it. At the end of the day he needs that teacher and student or master and subordinate dynamic to stay in tact. He likes to be challenged but he doesn’t like to be weakened or caught off guard in anyway that makes him question his authority or his strength.

When it comes to Marius helping Armand rediscover his culture, yas! This actually is a good transition bcus this is also a good example of what I’m talking about when it comes to the being challenged thing. Marius is happy and eager to help Armand heal from the demons of his past by rediscovering the family and culture hes forgotten, so long as Armand is obedient and answering to his call at the end of the day. Marius is happy to be left on the sidelines, up until armand starts disregarding his authority and moving away from him on his own path. After coming home from Kiev Armand realizes that he doesn’t gain anything from learning from Marius and he would rather learn on his own by discovering himself and processing what this new culture means to him. And Marius let’s him have this, until he realizes that he’s loosing his control over Amadeo and he is not going to come back to him without a push, and he beats the absolute shit out of him 😭 again, challenged to an extent.

Second: when marius first buys Armand he explains in blood and gold that part of why he chose Armand was bcus he wanted a vampire companion in Bianca, but he felt too guilty to turn Bianca bcus she was a bright young woman with a future ahead of her, so he chose Armand to be his future vampire companion instead bcus Armand was broken enough to not have a chance of a future anyway (therefore turning him is guilt free). Then, marius learns very quickly that Armand could easily have a future just as bright as Bianca, once he’s under his care he starts to prosper, and he realizes that turning him into a vampire would be equally as cruel as turning Bianca. So his motive changes, and he decides that his desire to turn Armand is wrong and he should instead give him the chance to live a full human life just like any of the other boys. Marius wants this bcus he knows that it’s the right thing to do, to give up the person he loves for their own good. But it’s also, deep down, not what he wants at all, bcus it agonizes him to think of a future where he doesn’t have Amadeo. So this creates this self contradictory mess, where Marius is aiming both at the same time to turn Armand into a vampire and also to let him live a human life. He starts doing contradictory things, like feeding Armand his blood and exposing him to vampirism + getting him hooked on it, and then sending him out to “experience humanity” bcus that’s what Marius wants for him.

It caused Armand to be driven absolutely insane, bcus he’s being communicated two different things about what Marius wants for his future. I think Marius’s conflicting desire causes part of Armand’s desperate begging for him to turn him. Armand is so fed up with this mind melding conflict he just wants Marius to rip the band aid off and do it 😭 cuz they both know it’s what they both want. And Marius knows that this is the terrible abusive option, and he can’t get Armand to see this bcus Armand is too far deep in his love brain.

So my answer is, Marius wants Armand to grow up bcus he knows that’s what’s best for him, but he continues to hold out on the possibility of vampirism and refuses to cut ties with Armand bcus he rlly does want to turn him against his better judgement, which in my opinion reads as a desire to keep him young, under his control, in that limbo stage where he doesn’t need to make a decision. Partly bcus if Armand is young and compliant and his body isn’t changing the clock isn’t ticking and Marius doesn’t have to confront that his choices r either loose Amadeo or ruin him.

Toby has known Natalie for about 5 years, and Jack for 4, and Ben for 3. ok now im gonna do long ass headcanons for their relationships bc im just soooooooo silly . .

toby and natalie knew eachother when they were at the height of like.. using murder as a relief/power trip. it was a really sick and fucked up thing to bond over, and it wasnt something either of them took lightly or as a joke. but it was something they did talk about, moreso 'let me tell you about my night' and they'd kinda just allude to the murder part of it. eventually, natalie stopped killing as much (and stuck strictly to freak weirdo men at bars/clubs who try taking advantage of ppl). toby doesn't have the luxury to stop bc he only did it when the situation/order calls for it.

they usually just lounge around together. watch trash reality tv, natalie was ashamed of her art for a while but toby loves getting her to show him her stuff. toby taught her how to axe throw and cut down trees. he helped fix up the barn she stays in so it's actually livable. he even got brian to help with shit like insulation cuz theres no heat/ac in it. sometimes he does her hair if shes having an awful night. she never had someone to brush her hair growing up, having no mother/sister/girl friends, and finds it to be insanely fucking relaxing. lulls her to sleep so quick. it reminds toby of lyra and he cried one time after she fell asleep from it. she never found out about it.

toby was the first proxy to be nice to jack. not that tim and brian were horrible to jack (only after he was . . 'tamed' i guess). but toby was the first one to like, bring him things, talk to him, actually attempt bonding. if tobys feeling lonely and natalies not in the mood to entertain, jack was almost always welcoming. ok maybe not welcoming in the like :) hiiii toby. way. but in the. 'ok yea whatever come in i guess' way.

jack used to cook a lot before he was sacrificed. now he doesnt have the same taste buds, and while he can eat human food, its all pretty bland to him. best he can enjoy is insanely spicy stuff, and thats more sensation rather than flavor. BUT TOBY. that fucking dude can EAT. he's brought like a fat steak and veggies and rice and random shit to jacks and asked him to make him dinner. and oddly enough jack was willing to do it. toby continued to do that stuff. jack didnt know about tobys CIPA for a while and was baffled when this white boy from rural colorado could actually handle the spice anytime jack made south asian food LOL.. ("how much spice do you want" "i dont care make it as spicy as you like" "toby are you sure of this" "yeah i can take it").

of the 3, toby is the least close to ben. mostly bc ben is best fucking friends w jeff and toby doesnt like jeff very much(who does?). plus toby figured ben was like a kid and wasnt exactly crazy about being besties with a 12 yr old. But then ben played some video games with him. ben doesnt really Act like an. ipad fortnite tiktok middle shcool type of kid so toby was like Oh he's cool i guess.!

At the top of the building a person stands on the edge, watching someone who seems…to be playing...on a crane?

That “person” on the building was me. And that “someone” was my crazy friend-jungkook-who offered me on a date because my ACTUAL date stood me up. Now I have to deal with his crazy nonsense because now I think he may have fallen in love with me or something. It was Monday when jungkook told me his offer and that very same night we went out. It started off nice, me complaining about all the things i didn't like about my new "relationship"if that's what you want to call it , you know how he told me he would ask me to be his girlfriend soon but 2 months in now i dont think thats going to happen. Back to the story, the “date” started nice but when the waitress asked if we were together he said YES?! I was a little over dramatic but come on we are like best friends so of course i'm going to be a little put off.

Tuesday came around and jungkook was literally hanging off my train. I was going home for the week because we got into a fight after we got home Monday. We live together and I hated being awkward in my own home so I wanted to leave for the week. And how did he find out I was leaving? I don't know because I never told him. So him HANGING OFF MY TRAIN was a little scary until he started talking. Well yelling so i could hear him through the glass. Talking about how he's sorry even though that shit eating smile on his face was still present. Jungkook only wanted me to come back home because he likes me and hates being rejected. When I tell you he has a big ego… it is worse than words can describe. His fluffy hair flowing in the wind, as much as i hate to admit it he was very attractive.

Wednesday comes around and jungkook apparently is loved by my parents because they let him stay with me at their house… sometimes I think they love him more than me. Now I'm at the laundromat and this man keeps following me. The store, the park, even the skate park and he doesn't even know how to skate. While he's sitting on one of the washing machines I'm putting away my moms clothes in the dryer and suddenly one of the pipes broke and the whole place was filling with water. I didn't want to die with this moron by my side so I tried to get out but he pulled me back. I eventually got Jungkook's hands off my waist to scold him about how we were now stuck in a flooded building, the only thing he said was he didnt want to die alone. I looked this grown man in the eye and I was like WHAT?! So u would rather kill 2 people then 1 and he.said.yes. At this point we were swimming, and I was trying to dodge the splashes his hands made when he fell back as I pushed him, mad that he put me in this situation. He was begging for me to forgive him at this point but I was having none of it. He was honestly kinda cute like this. Thankfully before I went further into my weird thoughts someone opened the shut door that had become harder to open because of the pressure the water was putting on it and it all flushed out leaving us and my moms clothes wet.

Thursday came around and he got hit by a biker and when he saw me- i was only there because my mom sent me to go get some food and i had no idea where he was, i was kinda hoping he left me alone- Jungkook tried to get out of the bed the ambulance people put him in. that man is crazy-Dedicated if you will-but i kinda respect that. And when he finally convinced the doctors he was totally fine- besides the fact that he was very much delulu and cray cray- he somehow found me in a crowd of people going in different directions and gave me flowers he bought from some random guy selling them on the street. Jungkook scares me sometimes, but of course when he told me what happened I was worried, I mean how did he know he was completely fine?! I think that just fed into his delusions more but I didn't care at that moment. He's still my friend even if he's delulu and I do still care about him.

Friday A huge storm came by and what was Jungkook doing? Following me to the house so i didn't “ get blown away” well maybe he should have looked at the wind speed because he tripped up and fell into a metal pole hurting his back… welp not my fault.

Saturday nothing really happened besides him being dramatic and laying in a casket acting as if he died from the fall. God he was crazy. And as I stood up and laughed at him calling him crazy and went out of the building I missed how Jungkook smiled when he saw me laugh.

And that brings us to today. Sunday where he rented a crane and a professional to drive it just so he could pull a stunt that scared the crap outta me. As I stood at the edge of the building watching Jungkook carefully making sure he didn't fall I thought about Monday where he raced after me when I stormed off mad and how he really was sorry. Tuesday when he literally was hanging on to a train that was going quite fast with one hand. Wednesday when the places flooded and how if he died he wanted it to be with me. Thursday when he bought me flowers even though he was hurt. Friday when he got hurt trying to watch over me. Saturday when he faked his death just so I could laugh at him and call him crazy. Maybe he wasn't so bad after all. So as we walked back home I took his hand in mine and smiled at him. Maybe we can try this out. :)

How I feel about this character: I like her !!! i feel like shes not talked about much outside of ships which is a shame because i feel like if people came together on her character (this includes people writing canon) then there could be a compelling character here that wouldnt deny her roots or just stay the same sort of trope she used to be. I cant deny i do enjoy that they occassionally dip into her little interest in tarot :) its nice to see that trait remembered.

All the people I ship romantically with this character: sonic of course, shadow, blaze a bit?, metal sonic anddd... yea thats it

My non-romantic OTP for this character: i think her with silver or knuckles is always fun :) idk why i think its because they bounce off of each other well. equal levels of no braincells happening here at least with silver. and with knuckles i feel like they could have a fun brother sister dynamic.

My unpopular opinion about this character: what is the popular opinion on her .... idk ill just use this as more of me talking about her character in general. i wish people would use her abandonment issues more, or at least like integrate that into her character since i think its a trait that shows up a bit in the little visual novel and in sonic frontiers and i think that makes sense as a trait for her

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: if she was ever playable again . I HAVENT played the sonic frontiers dlc but i think giving her a little spin off game ala the princess peach games would be fun. maybe then her team from sonic heros can be used again and i could like care about big and cream outside of them being sparingly used in canon .. and big not just being a joke ... also i just want more development for herrr im always begging for development or character in this series i know its for children but plsss also i wish they would like actually like .. fully deal with her whole thing with sonic... it feels like they wanna pretend her obsession just never happened and wasnt like the main thing with her character before they basically turned her into sally acorn.

OFC i love asks like this 🙏 i'll go over a bit of most i've posted! i can go over other details or ones i missed anytime. sorry i took so long to reply, i often forget to check here haha link (post-mm): not much special, i opted for a modified tunic that gives him an undershirt and matching (visible) shorts beneath the tunic. the scars on his face and streak in his hair are remnants from using the fierce deity (kijin, as i call him!)'s power. and kind of breaking him loose from his binding, but thats for another time. the scars take on the red/blue coloring if he's used the mask recently, and will gradually fade back with time! he also has a chipped tooth and nicked ear from the chase scene at the very beginning of MM. i opted to give him more grown out hair as a sign of growth as a person, and it can also be used to showcase my little rambling ideas about the kokiri having an affinity for decorating themselves. hair clips, ribbons, braids, ponytails, ect! kijin: still finalizing his design right now, but i'm giving him a cape and some more armor stuff. i chose to give him a tunic with patches on it, meant to resemble the moon! that's all i've got to say about him, for now at least. tatl & tael (gijinkas): i'm planning on an overhaul for them maybe, but generally i wanted them to have a matching outfit theme as i see them as being really closely bonded siblings. the small bells on their design are a play on how they make chiming noises rather than any audible voicelines like navi. i wanted them to contrast in shape language as well, which i think fits well with their opposite personalities. majora (gijinka): a more simplified and easy version for me to draw with a bit more flair than just a mask and some icky spaghetti noodle tendrils. i drew inspiration for her from the wrath and incarnate forms of the boss fight, and tossed in a bit of influence from hades (kid icarus uprising) as well. the horns and fangs as well as headpiece draw inspiration from dragon majora, who is from a side story in the MM manga. fun tidbit about my majora is that he has a tiny eye under there :-) couple's mask (gijinka): i wanted a sort of formal look for them while also maintaining an affectionate vibe. used anju's wedding dress for a teeny bit of inspo, and the rose in their pocket is red/purple to symbolize termina's newlywed sweethearts! the weird hair shape is made to represent the symbol on the mask, just... vaguely, i fear. mask of truth (gijinka): same as couple, i wanted to go off of vibe. i drew inspo from various sheikah appearances over the timeline, mainly skyward sword's impa and breath of the wild's outfits! one eye to match the typical sheikah emblem/gossip stone look the mask has. mido: not too different from canon, i just gave him some freckles and extra accessories. the compass he has is an item he found in the woods! saria: again, not super different, the biggest thing i changed were her eyes and outfit. i think she looks quite nice with the heterochromia, and i think it's a sweet idea for her and link to sort of bond over being different - albeit, in different ways. i also have a blast mask gijinka, who i don't think i posted here. i'm due for a big dump of stuff soon </3 hopefully i didn't forget too much! thank you for the ask, as always :3 🤍 if i missed anything, anyone's welcome to let me know!

Matty pauses in the middle of the room, looking up at George, "hmm." he takes in the feedback, mulling it over in his brain.

Over the years, George has grown to recognize Matty's different silent moments and their functions, so he didn't need to press any further.

"Well, what'd we do to create this...this umm....Truman Black-esque vibe?" Matty asked, mostly rhetorically, but George knew that thinking out loud was meant to be a group endeavor.

"Well, the whole fuckin show." George shrugs, chuckling.

He rounds the scissors through his friend's hair a few times, stepping back to admire his work. His brows cross as he walks back up to Matty, rounding the chair to stand facing him and check to see if both sides are equal.

"right," George squats down to be at eye level with Matty and measures strands of hair from both sides of his face against each other. "Let's see here."

Matty realizes how close George's face is to his and he, of course, uses the opportunity to pinch his friend's nose. "ooppp...caught your nose!" He laughs.

George rolls his eyes, attempting to act frustrated, but Matty's ridiculous laugh makes him giggle in return. "Okay, all sorted, I believe. Go take a look, tell me what you think.'

Matty rushes into the bathroom turning the lights on and scrupulously examining his hair from all angles.

"So, what's the verdict?" George stands in the doorway, leaning against the frame.

"It's great! Wouldn't even be able to tell it was done by a complete buffoon." He grins.

i think that after getting her body back takane just cant look at mirrors. she wants to fix her hair but if she looks in the mirror she'll get slapped in the face with the fact that yeah shes alive and has a body. like wow thats me thats how other people see me. its supposed to be comforting but for takane it isnt cause she feels so detached from her actual physical form and its as if shes living in a body that isnt hers. it makes her want to rip her skin off so she just asks haruka to tie her hair

I'm on my way to tell my boyfriend, eddie munson, that i'm pregnant. i'm so scared he will be upset, but i know he loves me, and deep down i know that he would never hate me for anything. i'm just so scared for such a big change. a baby is a huge responsibility! i hope we can make it through this endeavor!

i knock on his door.

he opens it and i see him, wearing his iconic hellfire t-shirt and jean jacket, hair a frizzy mess, but that was my man! i lunge forward and trap him in a hug, pee stick in hand.

"why are you so happy? especially when vecna is going around killing everyone!" eddie warns me. little does he know... hehehe.

he is now dead!

anyway, for coping n such, she doesnt have many specific coping strategies, all the ones shes tried in the past have failed in the end. in general tho, she usually leans on bolt and littie for support, especially during depressive episodes. she also escapes into games n such to help Cope, but it doesnt work all the time since that still requires some energy. sometimes shes burnt out or so deep in depressive stuff that she just.. cant get herself to do it. thats when she leans on littie and bolt the most.

for the social side of things, she doesnt do much actually. shes mostly stopped caring about seeming weird or whatever and doesnt mask too much.. cus of that and her impulsiveness, she can often seem kinda blunt, and doesnt use much nonverbal communication. the little she does use is based off of shows and games she likes lol, tho idk how aware of that she is]

Overall Stuff:

Starting off with aesthetics, but I love how the designs on the jackers are nice and symmetrical, it makes them look super formal.

Love the addition of the white stripes on their slacks. It's not a requirement for a uniform, but it doesn't pop up very often and for a good reason: it brings attention to the legs, which are obviously pretty important in marching. It's super easy to tell if someone is out of step with this. You put stripes on your pants if you're confident that you're in synch.

Also they're all wearing black shoes with black socks (or, so it seems), thats good!

Hair is nice and short and not touching the collar of the jacket, wonderful.

Love the addition of the gloves. Some bands have every member wear gloves, but some only allow the drum major to wear them, so thats how I kinda view it since that's what my band did. Brings attention to the hands!

Speaking of other drum major-y stuff, you can see that they're wearing black dress cords in the mv (they kinda blend into the uniform in the pic, but you can see it moving around sometimes). These are the tassels that are attached to their left shoulder.

I can't tell if it's a design on the bottom of their slacks, or maybe their shoes, but? It kinda looks like striped socks? I dunno, I couldn't see it super well.

Besides the offenses that everyone has, they have the best uniform of the bunch, in terms of like, rules of dress. Also the posture in the pic makes them look like they're standing at attention, which I like.

Mikey:

Personal note but I love the cut of his jacket so much, I'd totally wear it. Not super conventional for a marching uniform but still neat.

Hey, he has a medal! I mean, it's probably because he keeps fucking dying, and it's also not really in the nice spot, but good for you!

The necklace needs to go though, or be hidden under the jacket. Jewelry is a no-go.

Gonna do the same here as I did with Mikey and just assume his hair isn't touching the collar because, again, couldn't see the back of his neck, so fuck it.

The piercings need to either come out or be covered up, though. (Antecdote, but one of our drummers had snake bites and he had to wear bandaids over them and he looked really stupid)

Tattoos are a weird thing because they're not always easily covered, and they obviously can't be removed, but I do like how the collar is coving his neck tattoo.

Due to him moving a ton and the jacket was being lifted a lot, he could benefit from a cummerbund with the uniform, but it's no required.

Now, the shoes being black is a plus, but I'm pretty sure he's wearing platforms?? Which just seems really hard to march in...

Also, I just gotta say, in terms of thinking of it as an actual uniform, I hate the sleeves so much. They fit Frank's look, esp in this era, and do look good on him, but imagine a whole marching band having those sleeves. A fucking nightmare.

Ray:

Also I love the design on his jacket the most. If you combined Mikeys cut and Ray's design then it'd be the perfect jacket *chefs kiss*

Unfortunately he's the only one who needs to put his hair up. The hair cannot touch the collar of the jacket. Typically it'd be put underneath the shako, but... I guess they forgot them at home. I cannot say I envy the amount of bobby pins it will take to get that lovely hair up in there though...

Why... Why does he have dress cords? They're even more prominent than Gerards, and they're pretty strictly a drum major thing?? Who gave you those???

Besides that, fairly unoffensive, the hair is just the biggest issue here.

so, in my opinion, the award for the ugliest design goes to: childe. his clothes are all gray and with a boring style, he has a very silly scarf and he thinks hes very cool for it but actually, he isnt. also. that little gap he has at the bottom of his jacket showing his stomach??? its so dumb and also means he doesnt wear a shirt under the jacket, like really?? so yeah, ugliest design for me

as for some others, i agree with you in doris design! especially her glasses are so ugly and that ruins all the design for me. similar to dori, i dont really like dionas design either. also, and this might be a hot take too, i dont like much candace design. okay shes not ugly, i actually really like all the accessories she has, that shes one of the few poc characters ingame and the only one that has heterochromia too! but. somehow i hate how they did her hair and just that is ruining her design for me, and its quite frustrating. and finally, this one i dont really hate it? but ayato deserved to have a different design from the one they ended up giving him. his clothes look a lot like a western costume and so different from the traditional japanese clothes i expected him to have so it was kind of a disappointment for me when they finally revealed his design

now, reading that the ugliest designs for you are benny and razor... :( i mean yeah its true they dont have the best designs, but personally i think they match a lot with their personality and i really like their characters too, so i cant seem to hate their designs either ajfdlk though i agree with you that the gap in razors hoodie to let their hair out is... weird, yeah. as for nilou and nahida i think their designs are very cute! but theres one thing i dont like abt them and is how white they look. living in sumeru they obviously deserved some melanin, and especially nahida being the dendro archon, but we know how hyv is, sighhhhhh

now on the brighter side, the prettiest designs! i cant choose just one so ill say my most favorites: kazuha (my fave character so i love his design a lot too), kokomi (very pretty pastel colors!), yoimiya (i love her tattoos, her hair accessories, how she wears her clothes, everything). hu tao is also one of my fave designs for sure, so we agree on that one too! xiaos design is also sooo good and i really like fischls skin too!!

as for the others you said, theyre not my most favorites but theyre very good ones too! rosarias reskin is much better than her original design and suits her a lot, and scaramouche idk if youre referring to his original design or his playable one but theyre both so nice too
