Okay so I decided to do some research on Spinal Cord Injuries because of potential Aven-centric fanfic (Something Beautiful) and uh.

Judging by where he got impaled by the spear, he might end up having complete Paraplegia (Paralysis of legs and occasionally lower back)... but since the chances of it being incomplete Paraplegia increases as you go further down the spinal cord, I think Aven might have incomplete Paraplegia...

Although he can't really walk on his own, since only one of his legs can barely registers anything, and he can't really move them voluntarily.

HOWEVER, that does not mean that he's gonna be out-of-action... since said fic is a crossover of sorts with my original idea called Runalongs, and he does get his own buddy that he uses a mount of sort (Unfortunately, it can't fit indoors due for it being the size of a large draft horse, so he usually resorts to a wheelchair or crutches whenever he's inside... said Runalong doesn't really care that it's a tad to big for indoor spaces, but it just helps with other stuff, kind of like a service dog!)

I will be looking more in-depth in this, since I do want it to be pretty accurate, as well as avoid any errors, especially with his Runalong.

I've been seeing a lot of knight posts recently. pretty great

On my first day in Germany I got to my hotel and I couldn't get the lights to turn on. And I was like "Eh, fuck it, I'll just take a shower in the dark." And then the shower wouldn't get hot. I waited and waited and it stayed ice cold.

So I go down to the front desk and I'm like "My lights won't turn on and my shower won't get hot" so they send this guy up with me. We get into the room and I flick the switch and nothing happens so I'm like "See?"

And he goes "You must put your card in the slot."

"I... what? I have to put my room card in the light switch?"

"Of course!"

Now I have been in many hotels in the US and never encountered this concept, but apparently it was something most of their guests already knew. So I'm looking like a fool at this point. I feel like an idiot. The dude is fully grinning at me. I put the card in the slot and voila, the light turns on.

Then he's like "Ok, let's see if the shower works. You know you must wait for the hot water?" and I just know he's thinking I'm an idiot who also can't use a shower. This stupid American can't wait for the hot water! She can't even use a light switch or a shower!

And I guess he was distracted by these thoughts of my stupidity, because this dude fully stepped into the shower. In his nice dress shirt and slacks. He just. Gets into the shower.

And turns it on.

one time I used the ben affleck smoking reaction image in the family group chat and my mom replied with the funniest possible response which was: "mommy doesn't know who the guy is???" and that phrase has not left my brain since. I'll see blorbos on my dash that I don't recognize and I'll be like well it seems mommy doesn't know who the guy is.

I was rambling on the issue of museums and human remains and how certain populations are more likely to have their bodies put on display to be gawked at and then went "well I guess the Pompeii casts were of Europeans. there are bones in there right?" and Googled it to make sure, at which point I confirmed that yes there are bones in there, but more interestingly DNA testing revealed that a cast of an adult holding a child everyone assumed was a mother and child were, in fact, a man and a kid entirely unrelated to him. Honestly that's more moving to me. Maybe they were connected in a way other than blood, but maybe a stranger saw a child when the world was ending and thought the one thing he could do was hold them.
