Oceanids are the children of Oceanus.

All nereids are nymphs, but not all nymphs are nereids. The difference isn’t just, “water nymph”. Nereids are the children of Oceanids.

(Naiads are basically the same except fresh water. Naiads are the daughters of the Potamoi, who are children of Oceanus :D)

Penelope is a nereid. Amphitrite’s grandfather is Oceanus, so she’s also a nereid. Penelope and Amphitrite are cousins.

Thinking about how the Primordial Sea Water is supossed to dissolve people from Fontaine, and I wonder if that aplies only to humans or if affects other entities too. Would an Oceanid disolve? A melusine? Would Neuvillette dissolve?

And if the Primordial Sea is the water that will flood Fontaine according to the prophecy, isn't it implying that Furina wouldn't be affected, would that be because she is an Archon or would be because despite being Fontaine Archon she is not originally from Fontaine.

Especially the treatment of Leuce who, in the myth was Hades’s first love or at least his lover before Persephone.

and the characterization of Thetis who, in mythology refused Zeus’s (and Poseidon’s) advances AND was raised by Hera!! Like the number of women that could’ve been the homewrecker in Zeus and Hera relationship... why her.

Is it just me, or have we not really received an adequate explanation of the beef between the oceanids and Focalors? All the humanoid oceanids like Idyia and Callirhoe suggest that Fontaine became uninhabitable for oceanids after Focalors took over. Rhodeia asks if Traveller is an assassin sent from her homeland. It's implied that some oceanids didn't accept Focalors and saw her as some kind of interloper, yet there's no reason why this would have happened as she made it her life's work to protect Egeria's legacy. There's obviously some enmity going on, yet, we don't see any inkling of that from Focalors or indeed Furina or Neuvillette. It just feels like a massive unresolved plot hole.

First of a few Genshin fan characters I worked on in 2024 -- although Dakarai existed the year before these concepts, and is a revamp of an even older character of mine.

I has redesigned Dakarai to be a Natlanese vision-wielder (or at least, Natlan resident with a Natlan-shaped vision case) before the region launched, and was banking on there being some substance to the whole “vishap-people” lore that was teased in that limited Enkanomiya event. But so much basic information about the nation was kept underwraps by HYV, so some of his backstory will be a challenge to match the canon lore. Oh well, that’s what fan-designs are for -- I can work out the details another day.

So there is this thing I do where I’d roam around on Wikipedia finding out cool Greek mythology facts and I stumbled upon Chrysippus, his tragic story really touched me and I was disappointed to find out that Euripides made a play about him that is now lost. One thing that especially stood out to me is this pottery art depicting Chrysippus with a woman named Zeuxo. Who is she? What is she to him? Is she the oceanid Zeuxo? Or a mortal woman who happens to share her name? There is not a single surviving source that tells us. I’ve drawn Zeuxo before so I decided to draw her again.
