Little work in progress of Cassandra's rejection of Apollo.
(also, one of Apollo's animals are wolves, and something something, "Bite little wolf", something something. )

Odysseus adopting cassandra
But for some extra flair? Odysseus rocking up to Ithica with a gaggle of new sisters/daughters for Penelope and aunties/sisters for Telemachus. Allow me to illustrate:
Hecuba - I WISH more Troy stories focused on Hecuba, she was just as strong-willed as her daughter, in the trojan women she was snarling at odysseus until the gods turned her into a dog, letting her escape and travel with Hecate. In other tellings she's saved from slavery by Apollo and taken to Lycia. In soft odysseus™ stories like Epic and the above cassandra adoption post, I can see him offering sanctuary to Hecuba and her becoming Penelope's new sister.
Athena - Even in the original text she's a friendly figure to odysseus, not seeing him as a devotee but a student. In modern retellings they are basically siblings (hopefully that's not blasphemy).
Circe (+ ∞ no. Of nymphs) - Again, in Epic she's more sympathetic but I do love the idea of a small tidal wave of nymphs arriving on Ithica and setting up a "nymph quarter" of the city, trading potions and amulets. Would also be a boon for a post-war kingdom.
Calypso - Calypso is never a pure good character in retellings, and I find it weird. Every man in the illiad that lived left that city with slave women, this isn't saying girlbossification [patent pending] is necessary, but Calypso slides between date-rapist to emotional manipulator.
I haven't seen a re-imagining where she's a child? Her mythology is sparse, other than what occurs on Ithica, we only know her father is Atlas. Personally, I'd lean into that, gods age weird, have her be a child, also makes the moral dilemma harsher "I couldn't come home because a goddess trapped me" vs "I couldn't come home because I had to get a child to trust me, raise her for a bit, and build a boat worthy of her". It doesn't allow Calyso much agency but neither does being a man-obsessed roadblock so meh.
Anyways my favorite aspect of the oddessy is it changes with history, the original should always be read when it can be, but it should be remade, retold and warped. It's a story that wasn't written down for the first few centuries it was told, it was fluid and changes to fit the storyteller. So change everything.

Yeah, Raps does this stuff and then gets surprised that Cass betrays her... she should have seen it coming.
Cassandra must've felt terrible. Having pulled an extremely impressive stunt, expecting to impress the kids watching, hoping to gain some validation and respect, at least from kids since everyone else saw her as a mere maid to the princess. But instead they just ran past her (like she was nothing) to hug 'Princess Rapunzel' who just happened to be standing doing nothing.

This episode has one of the strongest foreshadowing to Cassandra's betrayal featuring her trauma.

Every time my beloved and I are driving folks around we end up needing to explain the myth of Cassandra.
You see, Cassandra was a devotee of the god Apollo. Apollo wanted to smash real bad and blessed her with the gift of prophecy. But Cassandra did not return his feelings and Apollo was pissed. He couldn’t revoke a divine blessing but he added the condition that no one would ever believe her prophecies.
So that’s what we named our GPS. We disobey Cassandra at our peril. We may doubt or disbelieve her, but Cassandra always knows.

Can I just say? The scene in FHJY where they find the bodies of Yolanda Badgood and Lucy Frostblade and Kristen asks Cassandra to keep their souls safe while they continue working to solve the mystery, and it works? That did something to my brain chemistry.
Being so unsure if you can help but reaching out for that power anyways because you just Have to try, and watching it work out, praying to the doubt and uncertainty because it’s truly always there, and watching it melt into peace for the two people you wanted to help. I know it’s a fictional deity created for a DND campaign about teenagers but damn I would join the church of Cassandra if I could.
AND THEN WHEN THEYRE REVIVED AT THE END OF THE SEASON and thank Kristen for keeping them safe in *her* afterlife, and talk about how safe and peaceful it is? I Cried, it was so heartwarming
