"Hmmm, not gonna celebrate?" Addie said, chuckling. "Well, ain't you lucky." Addie did, too, for a human. But the reality was that she wasn't human anymore. Hadn't been for a little bit now, apparently. She supposed that made her lucky, too. She didn't think she was all that lucky, though. She'd never been a lucky person, and therefore luck had been irrelevant to her. She drew in her own breath of smoke, watching the other woman. She smirked and let out a long sigh as well as the smoke, chuckling at the end of it. "Usually when I run into women they don't have broken arms," she said back, crossing her free arm over her chest, "but I can't really complain. I was headed to the bar. Why? Care to join me?"

Cassandra lifted a brow, not missing the lack of subtlety the stranger proudly wore, and smiled her thanks as she accepted the offering—she didn't mind flirting if it meant a free cigarette. Holding it up to her mouth between index and middle finger, she leaned in towards the lighter, inhaling as it sparked. While they weren't her vice of choice, she knew how to handle her smoking and didn't so much as cough as she leaned back.

A wry chuckle escaped in between puffs. “Well, mostly I was just planning on going home, so no wandering.” She took the moment to rove her gaze over the other, intrigue mingling with warmth the smoke left in her chest. “Not the worst. Could be better, but,” she shrugged noncommittally. “I'm told it'll heal fast, so. Grinning and bearing it, I guess. What about you? You headed somewhere specific or do you just like running into women with broken arms?” A smirk edges the corners of her mouth as she playfully echoes the other woman's words.

Every time my beloved and I are driving folks around we end up needing to explain the myth of Cassandra.

You see, Cassandra was a devotee of the god Apollo. Apollo wanted to smash real bad and blessed her with the gift of prophecy. But Cassandra did not return his feelings and Apollo was pissed. He couldn’t revoke a divine blessing but he added the condition that no one would ever believe her prophecies.

So that’s what we named our GPS. We disobey Cassandra at our peril. We may doubt or disbelieve her, but Cassandra always knows.
