Just to share my own thoughts, I don't think that was the point. @fortunatelyginger
The article is not taking the male perspective into account since this time the writer is focused on girls. I doubt she was bringing up girls' and women's problems in her book about men's problems either, because that wasn't her focus. Not focusing on the male perspective in this article doesn't makes boys' and men's experiences with bullying from women any less real.
The article is showing one possible explanation why teenage girls are feeling unwell. These girls are telling about their experiences with harsh online and in-person bullying from these certain boys in their school. Not from men as a whole. It is also true that people who are struggling are more likely to take their anger and sadness out on others especially without proper support or knowledge about healthy coping mechanisms. Boys still often lack support.
Regular cruel comments and sexualization are undoubtedly a valid cause for someone to start feeling unwell. Teenagers are at an age where their identity and emotional regulation skills are still developing. Receiving this kind of treatment will usually take a bigger toll on teens than adults.
It's been a while since I was a teen, but I remember this kind of bullying from both girls and boys. Both also received it. Teens in general can be cruel as hell.
However, in my experience teenage boys were doing this kind of bullying more often, or at least they were generally more aggressive and open about it than girls. The worst bullies were usually from dysfunctional families. Girls also usually had, and most likely still have, more pressure than boys when it comes to looks, and that pressure is not only coming from boys. This is an indivual experience, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was still the case in some schools.
Andrew Tate has some good points when it comes to self-improvement, but he also has more harmful takes on human value and mental health. "This is why women should not vote, they're morons" comment after a (trans)woman was expressing stress over elections is not something I would like my own sons to hear or look up to. Someone like HealthyGamer, a Harvard trained psychiatrist focusing especially on boy's and men's mental health, would be a better choice.
Tate's followers from what I've seen are not usually the kindest to women, some of them being blatantly hateful online. When young impressionable boys who have no proper critical thinking skills or media literacy skills yet see this kind of content and comments, there is a risk they will absorb all the things they're fed, including hatred towards women, without a second thought. They don't have the maturity to pick the genuinely helpful tips and ignore the rest. This in turn can affect the way they treat girls and women in their close circle. I think this is what the article was trying to convey by mentioning Tate.
These bullies might not be the only or the main reason why girls are unwell, but it is certainly still a serious problem that parents and teachers should pay more attention to. Teenagers are old enough to understand right from wrong. Behavior like this needs to be corrected not only in boys, but in teens in general.
Social media is creating more apathetic and cruel kids. You can also see it from the way those boys reacted to a fellow boy trying to stand up for her. Basic human decendy shouldn't be ridiculed or seen as something negative.

Why are British teenage girls so unhappy? Here’s the answer (Caitlin Moran, The Times, Sep 13 2024)
"The report, by the Children’s Society, found that British 15-year-old girls are the most unhappy in Europe.
British girls aged 10-15 are “significantly less happy” with their life, appearance, family and school than the average boy — and their happiness is still declining.
Boys’ life satisfaction, meanwhile, remains broadly stable. (…)
But I still didn’t have an “aha!” moment about why this so disproportionately affects girls until… I talked to some teenage girls.
It was at a party, and I went to vape with them on the patio. Because I take my nicotine like children do.
“Duh — it’s the boys,” one said when I brought it up, as all the others agreed.
“The boys?” I asked.
My last book, What About Men?, had been all about how much boys struggle these days: their loneliness; their suicide rates. I’d spent the past year feeling very sympathetic towards boys.
“Yeah, well, who do you think they’re taking out their unhappiness on? It’s us,” another girl said.
“One boy at school used to draw a picture every day of how ugly I was,” a third girl said. “Every day for two years.”
“They’ve all got ‘Rate The Girls’ polls on their WhatsApps,” the first said. “They mark you down for weight gain, haircuts, what you say.”
“But then, if you’re hot, it’s just as bad, in a different way, because they’ll be talking about how they want to f*** you.”
The girls discussed coping techniques. Bad news: none of them worked.
“The only way you can stop them is if you become ‘one of the boys’ and hang out with them. But then,” the second girl said with a sigh, “all the other girls call you a slut. Because you’ve gone over to the boys’ side.”
“Surely it’s not all the boys?” I said. “There must be some nice boys?”
“Oh, yeah,” one girl said. “But they keep their heads down. Because… well, look.”
She showed me the Instagram account of her friend. Under every picture she posted of herself — smiling in a new dress; with her dog — dozens of anonymous accounts had replied with the most rank abuse.
“Fat.” “Slut.” “You gonna try and kill yourself again, for attention?”
“They’re all boys from her school,” she said. “And look, this one boy tried to defend her.”
I saw a series of messages from a brave teenage boy, posting things like, “You’re all big men, leaving these replies under anonymous accounts.”
As I could see, this boy immediately became a target too. Mainly accusations that he was “white knighting” this girl: “You wanna f*** her, bro?”
“So,” I asked, “you don’t think it’s social media pressure to be beautiful, or the economy, that’s making girls so sad?”
“Well, yeah, them too,” the first girl said. “But, Monday-Friday, 9-3, I’m not on social media. I’m not… in the economy. I’m just with these boys. And no one talks about how horrible they are.”
I thought about another recent report, showing a 30 per cent ideological gap between Gen Z men, who are increasingly conservative, and Gen Z women, who are increasingly progressive.
I thought about Andrew Tate, who has nine million mostly young male followers — and faces human trafficking charges, which he denies.
And I thought: maybe these girls are on to something. Maybe more people need to vape with teenage girls and ask them for the school gossip."

Sit Still
NSFW- King Sukuna x F!reader
Tumblr media
"Kuna, we can't." You panic now, as your new husband Sukuna has two of his huge tattooed hands on your hips, pinning you down, as you're sitting on his lap on his throne, and he has one of his thick, long cocks shoved inside of you, the other pressing against your swollen little clit and all the way up to your bellybutton, hidden under your crimson and gold robes.
"Tch, sit still brat, or they'll know how slutty their Queen is." The King of Curses hisses against your ear, making you tremble, holding in your whine, his cock stretching you out so good you can't stand it, he bucks his hips up once, slamming your cervix with his leaky tip. "Should put a baby in you right here, they need an heir."
"We can't... we..." You're trying to focus as you're soaking one of his thick cocks, holding in your whimper, feeling his strong muscles bunching and flexing under you, the low rumble of his moan.
"Be good or I'll fuck you right in front of them, they can see we consummated this marriage, hmm?" Sukuna chuckles, as you struggle to sit still as your husband's cock is throbbing inside of you.
"Y-you're ridiculous, Kuna." You whisper back, earning his ruby red glare, leaning forward to grab your chin with one of his hands, the others pulling your hips down.
"Insolent brat, one more word... I swear... don't do that." You're squeezing your walls tighter now, knowing Sukuna is going to punish you, but fuck you want it. Your smile on your face makes his heart race, you feel it even if he won't say so, clearing his throat and leaning one of his arms on the side of his throne, chin in his hand as the guards and the nobles walk in, all while your cunt is milking his cock, and the other is dripping pre cum against your bare skin.
"You'll punish me, my King?" You whisper, as you feel one of his tongues on his hand licking your neck as he wraps his huge hand around it.
"You'll take both my cocks tonight, in both your holes." You're soaking him further at the thought, dripping down his veiny cocks, trembling, you don't know if you can handle so much yet. He chuckles softly. "Better sit still."

Buck's halfway through his third cup of startlingly bad coffee when Josh pushes the door to the breakroom open, looking mildly concerned in the half second before someone else looms over his shoulder.
He's too numb to do much more than take another sip of coffee as he watches Josh usher Tommy in.
The door clicks shut behind him. Buck wonders for a moment if Tommy's ever actually been to the new dispatch headquarters before. If he ever went to the old one, charming grin on his face while he waited for Abby to finish up so he could take her out, drive her home while her car was in the shop - but no, Tommy would have worked on it himself, maybe.
Had Josh recognized him, that first time, with half of his soot on Buck's face, and just never said anything?
The silence is tense. They're in a fishbowl, no room to lash out even if either of them wanted to because more than half the people working in this place can see them if they just tip their head to the side.
"How can I help?"
It's - his voice is strained, scared, worried. Buck doesn't have a single guess as to how he knows. Maybe Bobby. It's the only person he can think of who would have -.
Buck snorts. "I rebounded with a serial killer who just kidnapped my sister and my baby niece or nephew. I don't - I'm not sure what you want."
He glances up just in time to see the end of Tommy's grimace. Good. He's not sure how much more disastrous of a choice he could have made to try to get Tommy out of his system, but at least it hurts him to know. At least...
"Do you want me to go?"
Buck can't remember anyone asking, before. Usually they just... leave. Get up, walk out, disappear. Tommy bubbled Buck five times in three months. Buck went through seven bags of flour before he drove Eddie to the airport.
His voice shakes on his "No," and Tommy is there, all of the sudden, his hand hovering just over Buck's shoulder, like he realized halfway there it might not be welcome. "Do you still think I need to keep looking for someone better than you?"
It'd been seeing Tommy out with a guy that'd prompted him to stop fucking baking and make an effort to just...get over it But with Eddie away, and the rest of the 118 so wrapped up in their lives, there weren't a whole lot of outlets for that. And it's been easy to willfully misinterpret Tommy's breakup speech. Or - interpret it in the most hurtful way possible.
"Is this what you want to do right now?" Tommy asks, even and measured. "Will this help?"
"I want my sister back!"
Tommy takes a step back. His hands shift to his pockets, and Buck just wants -
"Why are you here?"
He tips his head up. Holds Tommy's gaze. Tommy flounders in a way Buck's never seen before.
He looks - tired. Good. White Henley under a flannel Buck had always told him brought out his eyes. The jeans Buck had stolen once or twice because they made his ass look good. His hair's grown in at the sides, and the sprinkling of greys are more obvious than the last time he'd seen it this length.
"I just... didn't want you to be alone."
Tears threaten at the corners of his eyes. He wants to laugh, but he's terrified if he starts he won't be able to hold in the fear. "When did that change?"
Tommy gnaws on his cheek. "You have so many people, Buck. You have -."
"I don't want emotional repression Tommy here, so if you're just here to keep me distracted until someone else can be here you should just... go."
Something flashes in his gaze. Anger, maybe. Terror.
"Please let me stay."
It hurts, to hear it. It hurts to hear the trepidation in his voice as he says it. Buck just wants to pull him in, tuck his face into the curve of his neck, soak in the warmth of his arms.
Buck spends too long staring at his knees. Long enough for Tommy to shift, to sigh, to nod his head decisively out of the corner of Buck's eye.
The word is stuck in his throat. Has been for months, since Tommy looked at him with teary eyes and walked away.
"I won't be able to let you go again."
He's already half turned away. Buck can only see half his expression as his eyes dip closed. He swallows. Nods, again.
Buck can't watch him push back through that door, so he stares at the toes of his boots until his vision starts to blur.
A second pair of toes swim into his eyeline. A hand shifts through his curls, snagging on knots, digging towards his scalp, and he can't quite bite back the sob. The arms that reach for him are warm, big and familiar, and Buck gives himself over to the panic and the fear that have been clawing at his chest for hours now. Tommy says something - whispers it into the air above Buck's head over and over, but Buck can't - he just -
He presses his face into Tommy's stomach, digs his fingers into the back of his shirt, sucks in horrible, gasping breaths. It's not enough. Nothing will be until he's got Maddie in his arms.
But it's more than he had an hour ago.
"Stay," he manages, and Tommy's fingers curl around Buck's neck and hold.

hi! could you do fluff prompt #37 with hoshi but its yn who brings hoshi flowers AAAAAAAAAA maybe because yn knows how hard this cb has been for hoshi so they surprise him with flowers after practice ><
WHY IS THIS CUTE!!!!! thank you for requesting lovely 🤍
request your own: full prompt list!
check out my masterlist!
fluff prompt #37: "you brought me flowers? just because?"
soonyoung was getting frustrated. he had been trying to nail down the choreography for the last hour, but it wasn’t clicking. his movements were stiff, and the steps felt off. it wasn’t even about the difficulty of the routine—he was just getting too worked up over the smallest things. his temper was hot, his mind too cluttered to focus.
mingyu and seungkwan were there too, leaning against the wall and watching him with amused looks. neither of them said anything, knowing well that interrupting soonyoung when he was in this mood was a terrible idea.
just as soonyoung was about to shout in frustration, the door to the practice room opened. he watches as you stepped in, carrying a small bouquet of bright flowers, and the atmosphere immediately shifted.
soonyoung stopped mid-movement, his eyes snapping to the flowers in your hands. his irritation faded for a split second, replaced by a flash of confusion. who’s giving her flowers? he thought, his chest tightening. is it her crush?
he stared at you for a moment, his gaze slightly narrowing. “who gave those to you?” he asked, his tone a little more annoyed than usual, though he tried to mask it.
you blinked, taken aback by the question. “uh... no one,” you said softly, holding the bouquet out toward him. “i got them for you.”
for a moment, soonyoung didn’t know how to process that. “for me?” his voice was barely above a whisper as he looked at the flowers, then back to you. “why?”
his ears began to burn a little, the tips turning a shade of red that was impossible to hide. he wasn’t used to this, to being the center of your attention like this. he could feel his heart racing slightly as he tried to make sense of it. why would you get me flowers?
“just because,” you replied with a shrug, offering him a soft smile.
soonyoung stared at the flowers again, the blush creeping further across his cheeks. “you... got me flowers? just because?” his voice dropped, quieter now, a little more vulnerable. he could feel his own heart hammering in his chest.
before you could respond, mingyu, ever the troublemaker, jumped in with a grin plastered on his face. “you got soonyoung hyung flowers? what about me? what about us? we want flowers too!"
"they're just flowers, friends can give each other flowers! calm down." you answered, trying to calm your hammering heart.
seungkwan chimed in, barely able to contain his laughter. “just flowers? just because? this is a whole new level of romance,”
soonyoung’s eyes widened, and his ears turned even redder as he shot both of them a glare. “shut up,” he mumbled, his words barely audible. he was trying to keep his composure, but it was hard with mingyu and seungkwan giving him no mercy.
you, on the other hand, felt your stomach twist with nerves. you had no idea what was going on, but it sounded like they were making fun of you. was it that obvious? you thought, trying not to fidget with your hands. maybe bringing him flowers wasn’t such a good idea after all.
soonyoung, still flustered and now very much aware of how loud mingyu and seungkwan were being, took a deep breath and finally looked back at you. “thanks... really. i, uh... i appreciate it.”
you gave him a small smile, but you could feel the tension between you two. “no problem,” you said, shifting awkwardly. “well, i’ve got some errands to run. i should go.”
as you turned to leave, soonyoung’s eyes followed you, his mind racing. what am i doing? he thought. just tell her you like her already, you idiot.
mingyu and seungkwan shared a knowing look, and as soon as the door clicked shut behind you, they wasted no time.
“you’re such an idiot,” mingyu said, his voice dripping with teasing. “how much more obvious can it be? flowers? just because? come on.”
seungkwan snorted. “seriously, how can you not see it? she brought you flowers, you’ve gotta make a move, or she’s gonna think you’re either completely stupid & clueless or you just don't have feelings for her.”
soonyoung’s face was burning now, his fists clenching at his sides. “i know, okay? it’s not that simple.”
mingyu rolled his eyes. “it’s not that complicated, you just need to get your act together. you’re lucky she even likes you.”
soonyoung didn’t say anything more. he was too embarrassed to admit just how nervous he was about the whole thing. he didnt want to admit that something as simple as flowers got to him, but something in him clicked, and without another word, he turned and rushed for the door.
he dashed down the stairs, his mind made up in an instant.
you were just outside the building, walking down the street with your head slightly lowered. soonyoung caught sight of you and nearly tripped in his haste to catch up. “hey!” he called out, his voice breathless. “wait up!”
you stopped and turned to face him, eyes wide. “soonyoung? did i leave something behind?”
he ran a hand through his hair, trying to compose himself. "no, uh," he took a deep breath, then blurted out the question he had been dying to ask. “do you have time tonight? for dinner? and maybe a movie?” his eyes shifted to yours, trying to read your expression.
you blinked, caught off guard by the suddenness of his words. “dinner and movie? like... outside?"
he nodded quickly, his nervousness creeping back in. “yeah, like... outside.”
your eyes flicked between him and the ground, trying to process what was happening. “like... a date?”
soonyoung’s heart skipped a beat, and he nodded again, more confident now as a smile creeps onto his face, “yeah. like, a date.”

arthur morgan x reader

Tumblr media
Life has never treated you kindly so eventually, as soon as you could leave your family home, you turned to the oldest profession in the world. Even if that kind of life was better, it still wasn't ideal, but it was the best you could do. Eventually, you started to like it because even with its issues and dark sides it wasn't that terrible. Some would even dare saying it was 'easy money', which you actually knew wasn't true.
Luckily for you, you ended up in one of the more expensive brothels. Maybe it was the 'splendor' of the place, the luxorious interior, that made you feel somewhat safe. Safer than you would feel in some cheap saloon where the patrons consisted of drifters with a questionable past.
You had your regular patrons, ones that you got along with well — one of the reasons why they were your regulars. These were the men that could stay a bit longer after the service itself was done without making it awkward. Ones that you could have a conversation with, ones that saw you as another human being, not just an item to relieve their frustration.
It was a normal evening, the building was neither empty nor full. You didn't have that much on your hands, you and a fellow working girl were entertaining a group of men. They sat by a table, a drink in one hand, a cigar in the other, and two of these men had a companion in their lap — you and your friend. Ending the evening in the bedroom wasn't certain, for now you were just trying to make them spend as much money as possible on the drinks.
Then, Arthur walked in. One of your regulars, one you were particularly fond of. The chemistry between the two of you was so strong sometimes you wanted to tell him he didn't have to pay.
His eyes immediately found you, and he would be lying if he said he didn't feel jealous seeing you in the man's lap. But you, as if on command, turned to look at Arthur and as you noticed your favorite patron, you excused yourself from the table.
"Mister Callahan," you beamed, approaching the man, "so good to see you again."
He tipped his hat to you, his lips curling into a soft smile. "Evenin' darlin', thought I'd stop by again. You been keepin' busy?"
The way he always called you darling, every time, made you feel so warm and bubbly. Of course, he wasn't the first man to do that, but when it came from him, it felt almost sincere.
"Busy enough," you replied, glancing over your shoulder at the table of men you just left, "but I'll always make time for you, mister."
"Well, reckon I'll take you up on that. How bout we find a quiet spot?"
"Your wish is my command." Giggling, you took Arthur by the hand to lead him upstairs where your room was. Even if he already knew the way well enough.
Your room was just like any other room in that brothel — furnished with the most luxorious-looking furniture, tastefully decorated with expensive ornaments, every little detail taken care of.
As the door to your room clicked shut behind you, the world outside seemed to fade miles away. In that moment right there it were just the two of us, bathed in the dim light by the fireplace's glow.
Arthur's hat found its usual place on the small table by the door and he turned to face you, "I can never stay away for too long." Shortly, his hands landed on your waist, resting on the corset of your dress.
"Then maybe you should visit more often..." You suggested, your own hands finding their way to the man's shoulders.
"I'm afraid it ain't a good idea, darlin'. I always look forward to seein' you. But sayin' goodbye..."
"I get what you mean," you chuckled, "so what's it gonna be today? Just the regular service, or you want something extra? It'll be on the house."
Every time Arthur visited you, it was both blissfull and painful for him. You were so good at what you were doing it felt like a religious experience, but the attachment he held for you left a hole in his heart each time he had to say goodbye.
He had always wished he could just ask you to leave this life, and join the gang, but which woman would agree for this? Your current life, your current job, as oppressing as it was, couldn't be worse than living on the run. In Arthur's eyes at least.
In the brothel you had your own room, a wardrobe with many dresses. You had a somehow stable income, it didn't seem as if money were any issue to you. All this, compared to what you could have in the camp, was much worse. And you didn't even know his real last name, there was no reason for you to leave this life you had for a criminal.
Why did Arthur even fall for a working girl? The exact same thing happened to John, which Arthur would often make fun of him for. Maybe life just decided to pull a joke on Arthur now. But he just couldn't control himself, from the first time he saw you, you were different. With other women it didn't take long to notice they're just playing a role, but you... from the first time you even smiled at Arthur, he was drawn to how genuine it looked. And now, you had become not just a pretty face to entertain him, but someone he felt at ease with.
This time, as many times before, Arthur didn't hurry to get dressed and leave the room, return back to camp after getting what he wanted. Instead, he stayed under the covers in your bed, smoking a cigarette as you kept going on about something that happened a few days ago.
He didn't mind, he could let you yap his ears off, your voice was such a calming sound. It was almost hard to believe you weren't just a hallucination he made up. How could such an ethereal being just lay there, next to him, head propped propped on your palm as you lay on your stomach, talking about whatever nonsense? How could this happen to a man like Arthur Morgan?
"...so then," you paused to take the cigarette from Arthur, take one puff and hand it right back, "you'd think a man like him would have some sense, right? Well, no, he was so damn thick in the head, she just told the guard to throw him out!"
Arthur chuckled, exhaling a stream of smoke. "Bet he didn't see that comin'. I'm glad I ain't made it onto your list of thick-headed fools yet."
"Yet!" You playfully reminded him. "You seem to have more sense than others, although I can't say I'm some weak little girl. I don't even need a guard, but the madam insists it's for safety."
A thought lingered in the back of Arthur's mind. It was weird, in a sense, to know there's a guard right outside your door whenever you had a man up there. Even right then.
"I don't doubt you could handle yourself, darlin'," Arthur smirked, taking one last drag from his cigarette, "but it don't hurt havin' someone lookin' out for you."
You rolled your eyes, a smile tugging at your lips. "Guess you're right, mister."
Arthur stubbed out the ciragette into the ashtray that stood on the bedside table, knowing what it meant. His time was up, he extended the time of his visit as long as he could. Now that his usual cigarette was finished, it was the time for him to go.
He swung his legs over the side of the bed to stand up. You watched as he reached for his clothes that had been thrown onto the floor, and for the first time a single tear started to burn the corner of your eye.
With his jeans already on, and his shirt for now unbuttoned, he reached to the pocket, retrieving the usual payment. You wiped the tear away as it escaped your eye. It was always the same routine, but it didn't make it any easier to watch him go.
"Here it is." He said almost robotically, placing the money next to the ashtray, throwing in a little tip.
You looked at the money with sadness in your gaze, then your eyes shifted to look at the man. "You know, you shouldn't have to pay, because you don't make it feel like work."
There they were, the words Arthur was so afraid to hear. Him having a more romantic kind of attachment to you was one thing. However, knowing that you reciprocated the feeling, made it more difficult.
"Good," he nodded, "cause you don't make me feel like the bastard I am," as he buttoned up his shirt.
You sat up on the bed, pulling the sheets harder around you, since you were still naked. "Arthur..." You sighed, the rest of the sentence dying in your throat.
The fact that for the first time you had used his actual name instead of calling him mister as always, made it only more difficult.
"No, darlin', don't."
"You know you don't have to leave, right?"
Oh, he had to leave. If he overstayed his welcome too much, the guard at your door would become highly suspicious. And that would only cause issues for you.
"I have to, don't wanna make it harder." Arthur replied.
"Harder for who? I know a man's nature well enough, and I can tell there's something more in the— the way you fuck me, Arthur."
He thought maybe playing dumb would help him. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that if you were to ask me to... to abandon this life for you... I would."
Arthur gulped. It was just what he wished for, but what he couldn't allow to happen. "I've got nothin' to give you. I live on the run, it ain't somethin' you wanna be a part of, trust me."
"You think I'd rather keep fucking strangers to survive, than travel the world with a man I lo—"
"You don't." Arthur interrupted you. "You don't know what you're talkin' bout." Love was a word of huge weight, there was no way it was what you felt for him.
You insisted. "I know what I feel, and I know what you feel, I see it in your eyes, I feel it when you're in my bed, Arthur. I wanna leave this life for you."
"It ain't gonna be no escape, though, just another kind of trap. You deserve better than fuckin' strangers to get by, but you also deserve better than runnin' and not knowin' which day will be your last."
"I don't want better!" At that point you didn't care if the guard outside will hear. "I want you, Arthur!"
"I want you too, darlin'," he admitted, his voice breaking slightly, "but... you're safer here. I can't sentence you to a life of an eternal wanderin'."
His words had a final tone, but as well as you could read his eyes, you could tell he regrets saying what he had just said. You could have had a roof over your head, and locks in your door, but it wasn't safety. It was survival.
You stepped closer, reaching out to grab Arthur's hand. You knew he didn't want to leave, you were sure he wants you just like you wanted him. "Arthur..."
His heart ached when he saw the way your beautiful eyes looked at him, but still he decided to kiss you. It only made it worse, making another cut in Arthur's already damaged heart.
"I gotta go." He stated, freeing his hand from yours.
"No." You refused as if you had any say in that matter. You could demand he takes you with him now, wherever he's headed, but what would it do?
"I can't make promises," he continued, putting his boots and jacket on, then his hat, "but I'll figure somethin' out."
You stayed silent, watching him leave the room, not knowing if he's going to keep his word. All you had now was the money, that you didn't even want from him, and the promise that could have been empty.

You sit in the practice room, watching your boyfriend, Chan, as he dances, practicing a dance for his newest ‘Danceology’. “You’re amazing, baby,” You murmur under your breath, as the song finishes up.
“Thank you, my love.” He smiles, coming to sit next to you. “You should dance with me sometime.”
You laugh, a dry, humorless laugh. “You know better than anyone that I have two left feet, and can’t dance to save my life.”
He smiles gently, wrapping an arm around you and placing a kiss on your temple. “But still, it would be fun to dance with you.”
You sigh, “Channie, you have enough dancing talent for both of us.” You smile, pressing a kiss to his sweaty cheek.
“Maybe one day?” He asks, a small pout on his lips.
You smile softly, unable to resist his pout. “I don’t dance, but maybe I can try for you.”
And that’s how you ended up in the practice room with Soonyoung and Minghao, panting and out of breath, as they teach you the dance to ‘Wait’. “Guys, I don’t know if I can do this,” you pant, taking a swig of your water.
“You can!” Soonyoung says. “You just have to practice. You wanna do this for him, right?”
“We’ll be here, every step of the way,” Minghao says softly.
“Thanks guys…” You say, giving them an appreciative smile.
“Okay!” Soonyoung says, clapping his hands. “From the top!”
Over the next three months, whenever Soonyoung and Minghao have time, they help you with the dance, occasionally the other members will come in and watch, cheering you on. It’s been hard for them, to keep this a secret. But they do it because they know how much it will mean to Chan.
“Baby, clear up your calendar for next Saturday,” you smile as you walk into your apartment, locking the door behind you.
“Well hello to you too,” he chuckles. “What’s next Saturday?”
You walk up to him and kiss his cheek. “It’s a surprise!” You giggle.
“What’s the surprise?” He smiles.
“Baby, it’s a surprise, why would I tell you?” You chuckle, pinching his cheek.
He whines, a smile on his face. “Pleaseeeeeeeee?”
“You’ll just have to wait and find out.” You say, a sly grin on your face.
The next week leading up to your surprise’, you’re practicing with Soonyoung and Minghao every night, occasionally having the other members come in and give you tips. And it’s HARD to hide it from Chan, especially as you get more nervous leading up to the actual event. You even almost get caught practicing at home a few times, but play it off as you just doing a silly little dance.
The day of your ‘exhibition’, as Soonyoung likes to call it, arrives, and you’ve never felt more nervous. “You’ll do great,” Minghao assures you. “You’ve been practicing for six months, and it looks amazing.”
“Yeah! And you look great, too!” Soonyoung quips. Soonyoung had taken the duty of finding a more feminine version of your boyfriend’s ‘Wait’ outfit.
“He’s here!” Soonyoung beams, giggling as he runs to his position in the center of the room.
“Babe?” He asks, as he opens the door, eyes drawn to your outfit, the way it hugs your body perfectly, and Minghao and Soonyoung waving cheerily at him.
“Hey,” you smile.
“….whats going on?” He asks, eyebrow raised.
“Just sit down, and you’ll see, okay?” You smile, leading him to a seat. You give him a kiss on the cheek before walking to the center of the room, Soonyoung and Minghao behind you, as your backup dancers.
The music starts, and you dance, focusing on the flow of the music, but still keeping sharp and precise movements. You make eye contact with Chan a few times, blushing as you do so. The last note of the song plays and you look at Chan, a smile on your face. His mouth is agape, eyes wide, and he’s unable to speak for a moment. “Babe..?” You ask softly.
“W-when did you learn this?” He mutters.
“Over the past few months…I wanted to surprise you.” You say shyly.
He walks up and throws his arms around you, nuzzling his head into your neck. “You did this for me?” He asks softly.
You pull away enough just to see his face and nod. “Of course, baby.”
He smiles and presses his lips onto yours, earning whoops and cheers from the members around you. He smiles as he pulls away, cupping your cheek. “Two left feet my ass, you’re not gonna get out of dancing with me anymore.”

Kagari Amagase
Things I can Only Do With You at Night: Ch1 | Ch2 | Ch3 | Ch4 | Card
Tumblr media
Emma: "The sakura manju is delicious! It's so cute and round that I find myself admiring it for a while before taking a bite."
Emma: "Prince Kagari, would you like one too?"
Kagari: "Sure."
After watching over the shopkeeper’s belongings, Prince Kagari really did go around the festival with me.
It’s so much more fun—no, infinitely more fun—with someone else, and I could feel my spirits lifting compared to when I wandered alone.
(Prince Kagari is…)
(Hmm… I can’t tell anything from his expression.)
I stopped in front of a stall that caught my eye.
Emma: "Prince Kagari, look, there’s a ring toss game!"
Kagari: "Yeah, I can see that."
(The prizes vary depending on the score you get.)
(Oh, that little basket bag at the top is so lovely! But it looks like you need to get the highest score to win it.)
Kagari: "…"
(Maybe I should give it a try. It could make for a nice festival memory!)
Emma: "Prince Kagari, do you want to try the ring toss too?"
Kagari: "Sure."
(Ugh… I didn’t land a single ring. They were softer than I expected and kept flying off in weird directions.)
The prize I chose with my score was a bottle of colorful konpeito (sugar stars). Its cuteness made me forget my disappointment entirely.
(Still, Prince Kagari casually scored the highest. I should’ve asked him for tips.)
Tumblr media
Kagari: "Here, take this Princess."
He handed me the lace basket bag I had been eyeing.
Emma: "Is it really okay…?"
Kagari: "I wouldn’t use it if I kept it."
Kagari: "From the looks of it, it’s well-crafted by a top-tier workshop. It’s sturdy and will last a long time."
Emma: "Then, I’ll accept it… Thank you."
The bag was well-made, with a smooth and pleasant texture. A small sakura charm dangled gently from the handle.
●●●●●● Flashback ●●●●●●
Kagari: "You’re easy to read. That’s something I’ve learned about you."
●●●●●● Flashback End ●●●●●●
(I must’ve let my feelings show again.)
(There were plenty of other prizes he could’ve picked. Maybe he chose this on a whim, but… I’m so happy.)
Emma: "Ah…"
Suddenly, Prince Kagari grabbed my hand and took a bite of my strawberry candy.
Watching him lick his lower lip up close sent my heart racing.
Emma: "Please, just tell me if you want some!"
Kagari: "If I told you, I wouldn’t get to see your reaction."
(He means when I get flustered, doesn’t he?)
(It feels like he’s made this a kind of game… but still…)
When I stole a glance at Prince Kagari, his expression remained unreadable, though the corners of his eyes had softened just a bit.
(Well, if he’s enjoying himself too, then I suppose it’s fine.)
Trying to hide my own smile, I took a bite of the strawberry candy as well.
(Maybe I’ll switch out my current pochette for the basket bag.)
(Oh, wait…)
Kagari:  "What’s wrong Princess?"
Emma: "Prince Kagari, do you have a moment later?"
....
Tumblr media
Emma: "Would you like to light some sparklers with me?"
After finishing with the stalls and returning from the bustling streets to the castle, I opened the wooden box I had taken out of my bag.
Emma: "Someone gave me these sparklers while I was helping with festival preparations."
Emma: " I was saving them for the festival day, and I’d really like it if you’d join me. If you’d like…"
Kagari: "…"
Emma: "Prince Kagari?"
Kagari: "It’s nothing."
Kagari: "I just thought it was a little childish to suddenly want fire."
Emma: "Would you like a sparkler?"
Kagari: "Sure."
(He agreed! That’s a relief.)
Something about the slight widening of his green eyes caught my attention, but I handed him a sparkler nonetheless.
For some reason, Prince Kagari stared at it for a while before finally taking it.
With anticipation in my chest, I brought the sparkler close to the candle flame he had lit for me.
A small orb of fire blossomed like a flower bud, scattering orange sparks with a gentle crackle.
(It’s so beautiful…)
It didn’t have the grandeur of fireworks in the sky, but the way the sparks changed shape over time was ephemeral and captivating—enough to make me forget to blink.
(Wow, the sparks are growing even brighter and stronger now.)
Tumblr media
Kagari: "…."
Emma: "Prince Kagari, your sparkler is beautiful too."
Kagari: "…Yeah, it’s mesmerizing."
(But his gaze hasn’t left me this whole time…)
(Maybe he prefers how my sparkler burns?)
(Ah, the sparks are starting to fade.)
As the end neared, the number of falling sparks lessened, and the glowing orb quietly dropped away.
Prince Kagari’s sparkler also went out, and the quiet that followed felt tinged with a certain melancholy.
(Perhaps I feel this way because the festival is truly coming to an end.)
Emma: "…I’ve found one more thing I love in Kogyoku.”
Kagari: "You have a low threshold for liking things, don’t you?"
Kagari: "When you leave Kogyoku, tell me how many things you’ve come to like."
Emma: "You’ll be surprised! Please look forward to it."
Emma: "Prince Kagari, thank you for accompanying me to the festival and lighting sparklers with me."
Kagari: "I just had the time."
Emma: "Even so, I’m happy that you spent that time with me."
When I look back on today, the fun memories come rushing back one after another.
I got to interact with many people from the town while helping prepare for the festival.
(Surely, the next time I see them, I’ll be able to greet them more casually. But…)
I suddenly found myself imagining the day I’d eventually have to leave Kogyoku.
The pang of sadness that welled up was even stronger than what I’d felt when the sparklers had burned out, and my gaze unconsciously turned to Prince Kagari.
(Prince Kagari is…)
(…He’ll probably be the same as ever.)
……
The next day, I went to a sweets shop to buy some dorayaki-flavored candies.
There, I heard a startling story from the boy who had given me the sparklers.
Tumblr media
Boy: "They say, if you do sparklers with someone you care about, just the two of you with no interruptions, you’ll be bound together."
Boy: "That’s what I wanted to tell you that day!"
Emma: "I see…"
Emma: "Is that a legend everyone in Kogyoku knows?"
Boy: "Yep. If anything, it’s rare for someone not to know it."
Emma: ".....Is that so."
(If he’d just said doing sparklers at the festival brings good fortune, it would’ve been better but…)
As I forced myself to suppress the dizziness creeping up on me, my cheeks grew hot at the thought of Prince Kagari.
(Does Prince Kagari know this legend too? …No, he probably doesn’t remember things he’s not interested in.)
(And he isn’t someone I care for in THAT way, so there’s no reason to be flustered…)
●●●●●● Flashback ●●●●●●
Kagari: "…"
Emma: "Prince Kagari?"
Kagari: "It’s nothing."
●●●●●● Flashback End●●●●●●
(…Could he have misunderstood something? No, there’s no way…)
(......…)
(How should I react the next time I meet Prince Kagari…?)
…….
Tumblr media
Shigure: "Hey, Kagari, why’d you have Emma help with the festival preparations?"
After the regular meeting, Shigure's question stopped Kagari in his tracks.
Kagari: "…It was a whim."
Kagari: "If I had to give a reason, it’s because I thought she’d find it easier to spend time here if she got to know a few more faces in this unfamiliar country."
Shigure: "Wow, that’s…kind of thoughtful."
Kagari: "Besides, if people recognize her as someone I know, they'll keep an eye on her out of curiosity."
Shigure: "Wow, that’s…heartless."
Kagari: "You didn’t know that about me?"
Shigure: "I did, actually. Well, having the townsfolk keep an eye out could be useful if something happens, so I see where you’re coming from."
Shigure: "And what about the festival day itself? After dealing with that enemy, you disappeared somewhere."
Kagari: "I went around the festival stalls with her and did sparklers."
Shigure: "Anyone else there? …Just the two of you?"
Kagari: "Just the two of us."
Shigure: "Ah, I see. I see."
Kagari: "…? What’s with that creepy look on your face?"
Shigure: "Wait, do you not know about the sparklers legend, Kagari?"
Kagari: "I don’t."
Kagari: "That was my first time even holding sparklers."
Shigure: "Ah, I see. Well then…"
Kagari: "Honestly, I couldn’t understand what was so enjoyable about it that she’d light up like that…"
Unconsciously, Kagari's jade-green eyes wandered toward the spot where he and Emma had lit sparklers the previous night.
Tumblr media
Kagari: "…But I got to see something good."
Kagari: "I wouldn’t mind doing it again…with her."

(I've talked about Drift fucking crystals before right? Like there's no way that I haven't at least once right?)
How it all starts, of course, is with Rodimus making dirty jokes about some of the more... suspiciously shaped crystals in his collections, which Drift scolds him for. None of his crystals would be used like that! It's disrespectful!
Drift definitely doesn't spend the next couple of weeks staring at the ceiling of his room, furiously jacking off, while carefully avoiding looking at his collection. Or even thinking about it. Absolutely not. (Damn it, Rodimus)
So when he's next at an alien market and perusing the crystals and gemstones section, he definitely has no ulterior motive for buying an absurdly large harmonic quartz suspiciously cut and polished into the shape of a textured spike. Complete coincidence. (Listen, it was a really high-quality quartz for dirt cheap, he had to take that deal, ignore his bank account numbers)
And Drift is simply making a smart and tactical decision when he hides it in his subspace until he gets back to his room. Rodimus would probably never shut up about it, and maybe even steal it to try and do... lewd... acts with it! Truly, he is just looking out for the safety and dignity of all involved. Minimus would be proud
It's just... curiosity, that makes him take out the new quartz before he starts... "tending to himself," so he can compare it to his spike... only to see if it actually is that phallic!
The harmonic quartz is certainly pretty, shimmering with many vibrant colors. And large. And thick. And at the base of the center pillar, there are still some small crystalline formations, lovely and polished to a shine, but decently sharp enough to make you want to keep them away from anything... sensitive
A healthy dose of self-delusion really can't cover for the fact that once Drift realizes the crystal is so generously proportioned that it's nearly twice as big as his spike, his valve starts dripping. Any internal justifications of "academic interest" or "morbid curiosity" can't cover for the way he's now rubbing the blunt tip of the quartz across his glowing node and flushed valve folds
And, all right... maybe... he's been thinking about this more than he should. Maybe, getting it out of his system would make him stop. Maybe putting that blunt, unyielding crystal into his valve won't feel good at all, and he won't lie awake thinking about it anymore, so he should just put it in and be done with it-
Drift's loud moan shatters both the silence of his room and his hopes of not enjoying this, as he forces the massive crystal past the first caliper of his valve. It's somehow nothing like a spike, and yet better, his valve desperately clenching around the too-large quartz. The burn of his first caliper squeezing down on its unyielding, solid mass is exquisite. (It's possible there are some other things he has been avoiding admitting to himself, every time an injury made him revved up with charge that he did his best to ignore)
And, well. Maybe once Drift's collected himself, he ends up staring at the ceiling again, thinking about the empty ache in the rest of his valve, and the sunk cost fallacy, and how the rest of the crystal might feel if this is just the tip, and the merits of literally just saying "fuck it."
So he does. Fuck it, I mean. Vigorously, with great enthusiasm and some mild self-injury. His needy little valve was designed take the softer living metal of a spike, or something similar. The hard quartz he's forcing his valve open with is nothing like that at all. The sweet thrill of pain lights up his array with more charge than he ever really wants to self-reflect on
If Drift could even hear himself right now, he'd probably be embarrassed by the noises he's making. The aching burn of each new caliper he harshly pushes through has him moaning like a virgin taking their first spike. But he's too distracted by how fragging full he feels, one hand brutally pistoning the quartz into his abused valve, the other furiously rubbing circles on his anterior node
Fragging hell, when he finally manages to force the whole thing inside of him and grind the fat, blunt tip into his ceiling node, he shrieks like he's being fragging murdered, and accidentally overloads himself into unconsciousness
As Drift wakes up the next morning, still aching around the crystal he didn’t have the chance to pull out, valve lips scratched and bleeding from the rough edges at the base of his new favorite false spike, he looks at the ceiling and thinks: maybe I should start a new crystal collection...
(and, oh primus, if I get an infection from this, no one is ever going to let me live it down)

As we’re facing the next COVID surge (brought on by holiday travel), I thought I might try a different kind of COVID post. You can skip to here for some easy to do tips and tricks you might have missed, or you can read down for my discussion of why this is important.
I have recently been writing and thinking a lot about why so many of my friends and family’s actions on COVID are so different from mine. Namely why so many people I know no longer seem very interested in either preventing themselves from being sick or, importantly, not spreading sickness to anyone else.
In my own case, the experience of staying home to stop the spread in 2020 forced me to strongly reconsider my behavior up to that point. Why had I ever thought it was OK to go to work or ride the subway with the flu, unmasked and taking no precautions, knowing that the flu certainly hospitalizes and kills people each year? Even if the flu was no big deal for my body, my behavior had limited other people—particularly disabled people—from comfortably being in public during flu season. I had knowingly spread around an illness. I radically reconsidered a lot of my behavior, and in particular, 2020 pushed me to focus more specifically on disability justice in my activism. A disability justice framework pushes us beyond thinking about individual access to consider how ableism limits us all from liberation.
Getting back to why this reconsideration didn’t happen on a mass level, understanding disability justice also means understanding that ableism is the current social order. And if it’s the order of the day, like other oppressive ideologies, that means we are all drenched in it and it is impossible to avoid ever doing something ableist. Furthermore, most people are going to act in ableist ways, most of the time. None of this are exempt from this, but not even trying is definitely worse!
I am also well aware that good COVID information is hard to come by, especially if you are not on the regular lookout for it. And if you do go looking for it, it can quickly get overwhelming. So I’d like to offer here a very short, distilled list of things people might have missed since 2020. (I’ve not taken the time to track down citations for all of these things; you’ll have to trust me that I got them from trustworthy sources or you can verify on your own. I’m happy to give more info on any of these too.)
Some of these things are easy enough to do. I’m offering this list because from a “stop the spread” mindset, each specific thing you do is helpful. This list is not meant to be comprehensive, and it’s hopefully not overwhelming. You don’t have to be perfect or avoid COVID 100% of the time or make this part of your identity, but I’d like to ask everyone reading this to take one step up in your mitigations for the holiday season, since this is reliably a time with huge increases in virus transmission. With around a thousand people still dying every week from COVID in the US, you don’t know whose life you may save by being a little more careful.
Masking This is the biggest bang for your buck, precaution-wise. If it’s hard for you to mask all the time in public, consider masking in places that disabled people really can’t avoid, like the pharmacy, the grocery store, and on public transportation.
I’d also suggest that if masks are uncomfortable, try different kinds of masks! The Aura is my favorite mask – it’s tight to my face so my glasses don’t fog and head straps don’t hurt my ears like ear straps do. Wellbefore sells masks in different sizes and colors, and Armbrust has sampler packs. Just try a bunch and see what works for you!
Finally, know that if at all possible, you should wear an N95 or KN95 mask. This is a change since spring 2020 because the current variants of COVID are more contagious.
Mouthwash Washing your mouth out with a mouthwash containing CPC (cetylpyridinium chloride) before or after seeing people, or just regularly, will kill some of the virus in your mouth and keep you below the threshold to get sick and/or shed the virus to others. This is a really easy one; CVS brand mouthwash has CPC.
Sip mask These valves will allow you to drink without breaking the seal of your mask. This is great for airplane travel, crowded conferences, or other risky spaces that you need to be in for an extended amount of time.
Airplane The most dangerous time on an airplane from a virus transmission standpoint is the time sitting on the runway (because of the way they circulate and filter the air onboard). Even if you don’t mask up during the flight, this is the best time to mask. (And if you do mask, this is the worst time to have a snack or drink – try to keep your mask on for all of this period.)
Space out risky or crowded events Don’t go to a wedding and a concert in the same weekend! Illness takes 3-5 days to develop after exposure, so give yourself time to know if you got sick from the last thing before potentially spreading that to the next thing.
Air purifiers work! This is a great one for places that you can’t avoid, like school, work, or daycare. You can make your own Corsi-Rosenthal box, but there’s also a variety of high quality air purifiers you can get for $70-100. You want to make sure it has a HEPA or Merv13+ filter on it, and check how quickly it changes out the air in a room. Since COVID is airborne, there can be COVID in a space even after the person has left it. Setting up air purifiers and/or opening windows until enough air has circulated before you remove your mask is a great way to make a space COVID safer
Test before going to events, even if you don’t feel sick Rapid tests (the kind you’re used to getting from the government and at the drug store) False negatives from these are rampant but a positive test reliably means you have COVID. The accuracy of these tests also increases a LOT if you take two of them 48 hours apart.
Better home tests are now available Metrix and Pluslife are both testers you can buy that offer a similar level of accuracy to a PCR test (that is, very accurate!). These devices are expensive, but so is another COVID infection: think of the missed work, cost of Paxlovid, and potential for Long COVID to keep you down even longer.
It’s a good idea to get an updated vaccine 2x a year too; like the flu shot, these vaccines are updated to try to fend off the particular variants that are circling. Be mindful though that vaccination will not necessarily stop transmission, especially of asymptomatic cases. Handwashing is also good for general prevention, but it doesn’t really stop COVID transmission. In the early days of COVID, researchers guessed that it was spread by physical droplets. That’s why we were instructed to wash our hands and groceries. But now we know that COVID is airborne; it spreads more like cigarette smoke than spit!
Of course, no single thing works perfectly. The best model is still the Swiss cheese model, but that also means each thing you do helps. If you’re reading this, please consider doing *one more thing* to take care of yourselves and others. I love you

"The truth is that the blue, the monsters, the dust in the air, all that, the real reason that grown-ups talk about this like they have a big secret is because we're scared too. Because as much as you think we know everything, the biggest secret of all is we mostly don’t. And that’s what we hide from you. The thing we hide from the kids isn’t that we know everything it’s that we don’t know everything. Cause we don’t want you to be scared." -Tula

right at the beginning of the Silmarillion (literally on chapter one) at some point it says that on everything that was made on Eä over the first days, Aulë had a part, and what makes me deeply insane about that is the same fucking wording used to talk about Mairon’s involvement in Melkor’s work. I am once again unwell about Mairon being unable to escape being a Maia of Aulë, because what if the true thing that you cannot escape is you.
#mairon#sauron#tolkien#lotr#the silmarillion#originals.txt#maia of aulë commentary series#this has so many ramifications and roads it diverges into and i am unwell about all of them#1. what if what truly tipped Mairon against the Valar was this exactly. not just the lack of recognition and disagreement over how things#are done. but Aulë - MANWË'S EXECUTING ARM. THE GUY WHO HE HIMSELF AND HIS GUYS ARE DOING THE HEAVY LIFTING - brought an idea to Manwë#he said No and Aulë came back#defeated about it and told his closest Maia's that it was a no go but they should be happy they still did it and goes into his archive of#secret things. and Mairon instead of accepting how it Should Be What Was Supposed To Be *pushed* him or tried to get him to try again#because HE thought he was right about this one thing#Insane. once again i can be trusted with adapting the silmarillion into the screen because i am sooooo normal about it#2. what if being you is as much of a blessing as it is a curse. a weight. a liability. something staring back at you with too many eyes and#claws and teeth until whatever that is twists over itself causing you to twist over yourself all cracked bones in wrong positions#2.A. do you think this was what terrified him when Luthien said Melkor would hate him? that he would be reminded he was *continues to be#against his will because no matter how much he tries to grab the reigns he is back at this same spot. a room with a bright sign he cannot#break that says WELCOME. MAIA OF AULE!* a maia of aulë? whom he hated?#that he would stop being His Mairon and would become once again Mairon the Maia of Aule because if he is a great deceiver he is too his 1st#victim of his own deceive?#insane if you ask me#3. first time i read the silm i was 15 second time i was 17 so there was a lot of things i did not catch or did not interpret as i do now#and the blatant Aulë - Mairon parallels escaped me completely#at least in this way

I can’t believe they made me prefer Shyamalan’s adaptation. I can’t believe they’ve done this to me.
#like he did a bad job but he at least tried something#he failed but he was definitely aiming for something I can appreciate#the new one just took out all agency and everything important about each character#I’m not even talking about sokkas sexism#although that also shows a huge misunderstanding of the original to think that that needed to be taken out to update it#I’m talking about aang not even being allowed the flaw of running away from being the avatar and being a scared kid#he just goes out to fly around a while to like clear his head and gets caught in a storm???#pro tip if your plot is driven by coincidence it is a Bad Plot#him being a kid and being dragged into this world and responsibility is like Important and Good to explore#and also they didn’t they didn’t even get rid of silks being sexist btw they just don’t call it what it is#which is WORSE#he still thinks katara can’t fight or protect the village but all the boys can#they try to frame it like it’s just about leadership?? oh yeah?? why does he think he should be a leader and katara shouldn’t?#whats that called?#and yue works in the kitchen now to be more relatable?#they took the sexism out of his plot line and put it into the show itself#I need to stop adding tags but I could literally go on all day#I’m not precious about adaptations#it’s fine to change things#but if all the changes you make are just removing characters’ agency and growth and the POINT of them#those are Bad Changes#you did it Wrong#also they literally CLUNG to tell don’t show as a guiding principle#they didn’t do the most basic storytelling once#not once did they show something to us instead of just telling us what we’re meant to think over and over#first episode includes about five retellings of the opening monologue#aang TELLING gyatsu that he’s playful instead of once just showing him goofing off#this is fucking storytelling 101#all that to say the movie is terrible but it’s like funny and more like a failed attempt at something decent#this series is more like a successful execution of a bad approach to the story and I think that’s worse

honest to god looking at people talk about the ganondorf fight im surprised i did so well as someone who could not Flurry Rush or Perfect Parry for shit
#totk spoilers#esp in the notes as i continue to ramble ->#idk if anyways still looking for tips for the fight but BASICALLY what i had going on was#going in i had 15 hearts and 3 of them were gloom locked bc alas i was not perfect at the prefight#and 4 gloom recovery foods (one 9 recov. two 6s and one 3) and i had to basically make it work off that bc i couldnt head out to make more#honest 2 god i would make more to brute force it easier#round 1 i basically forced myself to learn the timing to perfect parry the sword (never got the spear or bat down well) so i could get in#damage that way and then shoot his ass in the head with gidbo fused arrows (i had about 30 left from the quest) you wanna use as little#gidbos in this phase so u can use them to rush thru phase 2 where i just unloaded them all into him#next phase u can hit back all his attacks which is great because good lird i could not slash him if i wanted to#it would usually go he attacks with his sword -> he attacks with the mega gloom that actually steals hearts instead of locking them. knock#back these -> he attacks u with his sword -> repeat#ive heard people say they went through like 5 shields in this part i made it through using only 2#UM. try to get through phase 1 without using any of ur gloom food but if u make a shit ton then u should be good i had to work w/ what i ha#good game! they stole my fuckin clothes at the end again <- i know this is so u can see links arm no matter what u were wearing into the#fight but I WAS WEARING THE CLIMBING GEAR IT WAS ALREADY AN ARMS OUT KINDA LOOK !!#ashen.rambles

This used to work for me, until the weight of it ended up piling up on me to the point it crushed me and made me drop out of school (and then made me drop out again two more times when I tried to go back to it and the same thing happened again).
It's such terrible advice too because you're training yourself to only be able to work under terrible amounts of stress, and the level of stress you need in order to push you to actually get things done keeps getting higher and higher, until you're at such a baseline level of stress all the time that you become both numb and hypersensitive to it, simultaneously. So when you do inevitably miss a very important deadline that can ruin your life, it can very easily become traumatic in a way that breaks you completely, and you become incapable of doing anything at all if there's even a shadow of stress associated to it. And seeing how you needed the stress in order to get things done in the first place, because you were never taught proper strategies that allow you to actually get things done in a way that's sustainable with your adhd when you haven't got that pressure, you can very easily become stuck, unable to do anything at all.
And yeah, I haven't got any actual advice on what you can do instead, because I've been busy dealing with the actual clinically diagnosed c-ptsd that growing up with undiagnosed and horribly mismanaged adhd and autism gave me, and I still haven't found anything that actually works for me.
Just wanted to emphasise that following that kind of "advice" is completely unsustainable and can potentially end up really fucking you up, so throw it in the garbage whenever you see it.
There's a bunch of adhd advice out there that's like "people with adhd tend to work better under deadlines due to the anxiety so here are ways to artificially induce a stress response in order to get you to get work done" and it's like well what if I don't want to be stressed out all the time in order to function

Please don't tune out when you get to the non-partisan section of your ballot this November. First off, where state Supreme Court justices are elected, Republicans are trying their darndest to elect candidates who will destroy reproductive freedom, gut voting rights, and do everything in their power to give "contested" elections to Republicans. Contrast Wisconsin electing a justice in 2023 who helped rule two partisan gerrymanders unconstitutional, versus North Carolina electing a conservative majority in 2022, who upheld a racist voter ID law and a partisan gerrymander that liberal justices had previously struck down both of.
Second, local judicial offices will make infinitely more of an impact on your community than a divided state or federal legislature will. District and circuit courts, especially, are where criminalization of homelessness and poverty play out, and where electing a progressive judge with a commitment to criminal justice reform can make an immediate difference in people's lives.
It's a premier example of buying people time, and doing profound-short-term good, while we work to eventually change the system. You might not think there will be any such progressive justices running in your district, but you won't know unless you do your research. (More on "research" in a moment.)
The candidates you elect to your non-partisan city council will determine whether those laws criminalizing homelessness get passed, how many blank checks the police get to surveil and oppress, and whether lifesaving harm reduction programs, like needle exchanges and even fentanyl test strips, are legal in your municipality. Your non-partisan school board might need your vote to fend off Moms for Liberty candidates and their ilk, who want to ban every book with a queer person or acknowledgement of racism in it.
Of course, this begs the question — if these candidates are non-partisan, and often hyper-local, then how do I research them? There's so much less information and press about them, so how do I make an informed decision?
I'm not an expert, myself. But I do think/hope I have enough tips to consist of a useful conclusion to this post:
Plan ahead. If you vote in person, figure out what's on your ballot before you show up and get jumpscared by names you don't know. Find out what's on your ballot beforehand, and bring notes with you when you vote. Your city website should have a sample ballot, and if they drop the ball, go to Ballotpedia.
Ballotpedia in general, speaking of which. Candidates often answer Ballotpedia's interviews, and if you're lucky, you'll also get all the dirt on who's donating to their campaign.
Check endorsements. Usually candidates are very vocal about these on their websites. If local/state progressive leaders and a couple unions (not counting police unions lol) are endorsing a candidate, then that's not the end of my personal research process per se, but it usually speeds things up.
Check the back of the ballot. That's where non-partisan races usually bleed over to. This is the other reason why notes are helpful, because they can confirm you're not missing anything.
I've seen some misconceptions in the reblogs, so an addendum to my point about bringing notes on the candidates: I strongly suggest making those notes a physical list that you bring polling place with you. Many states do allow phones at the polling place, but several states explicitly don't — Nevada, Maryland, and Texas all ban phones, and that may not be an exhaustive list. There may also be states that allow individual city clerks to set policies.
You should also pause and think before you take a photo of your ballot, because even some states that don't ban phones still ban ballot photographs. But whether it's a photo, or just having your phone in general — in an environment as high-risk for voter suppression as the current one, you don't want even a little bit of ambiguity about your conduct. Physical notes are your friends.
