Since I just turned off reblogs on another post that quickly went from "let's have fun" to "this is fucking awful, I'm taking away this toy," please read this BlueSky thread from rahaeli, who I don't think is on here.

Most of it I've c/p for ease of readability bc BSky's threading sucks.

Okay, it's time again to talk about what the experience of having a social media account with a bunch of followers (*) is like. (* "a bunch" of followers is platform dependent. I'm getting irritating shit at 2k on Bluesky I didn't get until 10k on Twitter.)

(Ugh, wait, nevermind, I hit 3k while I wasn't looking. Anyway.) Someone who has never had more than 100 followers literally cannot comprehend the sheer volume of the responses you get. Even if individual posts don't get a ton of replies, if you post with any frequency, it accumulates.

Once you hit the first degradation threshold, your experience gets a little bit shittier. It's overwhelming volume, but the people who are following you are mostly ideologically, socially, and culturally aligned to you. You have the same concept of social media manners.

You'll get a few duplicate comments, because nobody reads the comments before they reply, but they're mostly from cool people, so you just roll your eyes a little at the same joke five times. You still make friends. You still have fun and can wind up finding neat new people.

And then those neat new people retweet your stuff, and it starts reaching out to an audience of people who are less aligned with what you think of as social media manners. You start getting some replies you find obnoxious: they're in good faith, you can tell, but they just grate on you sometimes.

And then *those* people start reposting your more viral threads, and you get people following you who are three degrees of separation from the people you are most likely to vibe with. And three degrees of separation is the second degradation threshold.

The second degradation threshold is where you start getting the constant, low-grade sand-in-a-pearl annoyances. The person who wants to argue with everything. The 15 people making the identical shitty "joke" that's actually just doing the exact thing you're complaining about, "ironically".

The people who look at a post that contains no question marks and think "there is an implied question here and I will answer it!" and leap to offer the most basic advice that you already thought of because you have existed for more than three seconds and can, in fact, think of the obvious answers.

The people who are spoiling for a fight no matter what, because you used one word in the post that is their particular berserk button and they're going to scream at you for hating waffles because you said you like pancakes even though you never mentioned waffles.

It is constant. It is never-ending. You cannot escape it. Every time you post anything at all, opening the app means wading through twenty garbage replies for every reply from someone who is actually cool and you'd vibe with just fine if you chatted with them.

You want to bitch about a minor annoyance? There will be 40 people all giving you the same useless advice. You want to squee about something you're enjoying that's making you happy? There will be 40 people coming to scold you because that thing isn't morally pure enough.

Every post. Every day. About 75% of the time you compose a post, you will get halfway through writing it and think "I can't deal with the replies this will get today" and delete it. You stop talking about things you enjoy, because you're tired of people shitting on them.

You stop complaining about the tiny annoyances in your life that you want to bitch about, because weirdly enough you already HAVE tried the first fifteen obvious suggestions you're going to get, and you don't want to spend an hour explaining why they won't work to everyone who's "helping".

(But you can't just ignore the "helpful" posts and not engage with them, because then you start getting accusations of being "elitist" and "standoffish" and jesus, lady, we're just trying to help here, why do you have to be so fucking rude and stuck-up, you full of yourself bitch.)

If you are any less gracious to the 40th person than that person thinks they deserve, there is a very good chance they're going to call you a cunt and drag allot their friends in to dogpile you and make the site unusable for at least three days.

The third degradation threshold is when you start needing to regularly call your local police department and politely remind them there are people who get very mad at you online and will try very hard to have you murdered by armed agents of the state and you'd appreciate it if they didn't do that.

I first had that conversation with my local police department in 2003. It's gotten faster now, at least? You usually don't have to start by explaining what social media even is.

Bluesky has tighter thresholds than Twitter did. On Twitter it was nicely exponential: the breakpoints were around 1k, 10k, 100k. Bluesky is running faster. I'm getting Twitter 10k annoyances at a Bluesky 3k. I am trying very, very hard not to switch over into Twitter 10k defensive posting.

I want to leave the defensive posting back on Twitter. I really do. I want to be able to bitch about a thing without having to wade through 20 "go try [extremely obvious thing]". I want to post about a thing I enjoy without 20 people yelling at me I'm bad for enjoyjng it.

There's a difference between arguing about an idea (which I love) and the onslaught of constantly infuriating replies plucking at your last goddamn nerve. And the more "last goddamn nerve" replies you get, the crankier you are, and then people lose their shit at you because you snapped at them.

So maybe let's all start keeping a few principles in mind: 1) if there's more than one reply, check to see if your point has already been covered. If it has, you don't need to repeat it.

2) Even the funniest joke gets old after the 20th time you hear it in 3 hours.

3) "I'm going to jokingly do the exact thing you just were complaining about because ha ha the real joke is I would never do that asshole thing" is never funny, and it is indistinguishable from you actually doing the asshole thing.

4) If there is no question mark in the tweet, think twice about offering "helpful" advice unless you and the poster know each other *mutually*, not just parasocially, you know it's likely to be new info for them, and you ask "do you want to hear how I handle this?" first and get an affirmative.

5) If you are going to ignore 4, ask yourself "is this a suggestion that someone with a reasonable level of generalized adult knowledge would think of trying within the first 15 minutes of approaching the problem?" If so, do not suggest it.

6) Do you really need to nitpick that grammar, spelling, or word choice? Did you understand what they were trying to say before autocorrect mangled it or they blanked on the exact word they wanted and found a close one? If you understood the meaning, don't be their volunteer copyeditor.

7) Is someone excited about a thing you hate? Are they having fun with the thing? Is the thing a front for white supremacist recruiting or organizing the overthrow of the US government? If the answers are yes, yes, and no, respectively, shut the fuck up and let people enjoy things.

8) We are all occasionally That Commenter. If someone you have a pre-existing relationship with replies to you and lets you know you're being That Commenter, it's because they have a positive enough impression of you they don't want to go straight to block. Treat this like the warning sign it is.

9) It deserves repeating: remember the Law of Large Numbers. Even if you only commented once, you may be the hundredth irritating comment that person got that day. Bluesky's terrible threading makes this worse: people don't keep a single thread of mounting crankiness the way they did on Twitter.

9a) If someone's top tweet sounds really annoyed at something, maybe check their timeline or follow back their nested self-QTs to see what level of irritable they're at and over what so you don't step straight on the same rakes they've been dodging all day.

10) However, remember that BSky also doesn't show replies made by people the OP has blocked in a thread. If they post about a pattern that's making them cranky and you look and don't see anything, they probably already blocked the worst of it. They still saw it in their mentions in order to block.

I really cannot overstate how absolutely exhausting and soul-destroying the experience of having a large account can be. It's also somehow still rewarding, or we wouldn't do it. But especially if you're a woman or a person of color or a female POC, that balance is really, really close most days.

And of course, the ones who stay are the ones who do find it still rewarding enough to keep doing it despite the constant irritations.

From here, the thread moves into a conversation about stuff specific to BlueSky, but the majority of the thread is truly applicable to Tumblr as well.

You may be the first person to comment "op lives on a planet without music," or "op has never heard of [thing OP didn't mention for whatever reason]," but you're probably not, and at a certain point, it becomes like someone tapping a sunburn.

i would really like to say yes, because i care a great deal about aspects of them, but it's looking pretty unlikely. i lost all my files (and my calmlywriter key !!! always save your emails and receipts, everyone!!!) and also it's hard to feel motivated about them now. i guess i will leave this up in the air just to soothe my own feelings but in reality the answer is Probably Not.

So while we're on the subject, here are some other thoughts.

I found Neil Gaiman's online presence - and the more overzealous members of his fanbase - annoying. And please stay with me here, I promise this isn't me trying to be smug or claim I "knew all along" or anything. There's a huge gulf between finding someone a bit annoying and thinking that their behaviour online is less than stellar occasionally and suspecting them of being a sexual predator. I don't think there could have been any way of me "knowing all along" without reading everything in the worst possible faith, which I'm not willing to do and which I maintain is not a good or helpful approach in general. And to people who genuinely looked up to him and felt completely blindsided by the news, I'm really sorry. It wasn't your fault and I hope you can do something kind for yourself today.

Anyway, back to the subject at hand. I didn't like the way he handled criticism of his work, a lot of the time. I don't think creators are obligated to personally listen to and address every negative opinion of their work, or explain every individual aspect of it that someone disliked. But I felt like a lot of his responses to feedback tended to lean into and encourage praise, while being a little disingenuous and sometimes belittling towards criticism. (And really, why feel the need to respond to everything when you could just ignore it?)

I didn't like the way he always felt the need to weigh in on fandom debates or throw out "word of god" explanations for this or that thing, including when nobody even asked. (Want to know who inspired the "I don't care what the author said" comment in my bio? Take a guess.) Especially when some of them felt engineered to paint him and his work in the best possible light.

Again, I'm not drawing attention to all this in an attempt to claim any one thing was a blatant red flag or must have been down to some sinister motivation. That's not the point I'm trying to make.

But it is one of the reasons that I was always deeply uncomfortable by the culture of hero-worship and "touch not god's anointed" that always seemed to exist around him. Like regardless of whether or not you thought this or that criticism against him was warranted, the way people would treat him like some kind of messiah who deserved nothing but praise and lose their absolute shit whenever anyone said anything remotely negative about him was absurd. Nobody deserves that, regardless of what they've done.

But at the same time... you know, I liked his work. Not just "I liked the stuff he co-wrote with someone else" or "I liked the films and TV shows he worked on with a whole bunch of other people." I liked the books he wrote by himself. They had some parts worth criticising, sure, what doesn't. But overall I thought they were well-written and funny and thought-provoking and I enjoyed myself when I was reading them. Neverwhere is the first book I had a crack at re-reading in a different language, which should tell you how much I liked it. And I didn't even dislike everything he posted on the internet. I thought some comments were pretty funny and/or insightful. I even reblogged the odd post.

And I wasn't all that vocal about any negative feelings I had towards him, because... well, frankly because a lot of the negative feelings I'd seen expressed by other people about him tended to look like "he's the devil incarnate, his work sucks, he's the worst person alive and he secretly hates every marginalised group and people should feel ashamed for sincerely liking his stuff."

And I didn't agree with that either! I didn't want to be roped in with those people. I didn't feel comfortable around them, any more than I felt comfortable around the Neil Gaiman Defense Squad, Working Tirelessly Day And Night To Aggressively Stamp Out Any Criticism Of Our Lord And Saviour.

And honestly I'm not entirely sure what kind of broader point I'm trying to articulate here, or whether I'm just working through stuff in my head. But I will say that this kind of polarising, zero-sum-game approach to criticism is... bad. It's just bad. It makes it so people are reluctant to put forward any kind of nuanced stance, for fear that they'll end up getting pigeonholed into one oversimplified category or another, or it ends up pushing people towards one extreme stance or another out of sheer frustration or contrariness. And it makes it incredibly difficult to have any kind of actually productive debate when it comes to criticising media, or criticising creators. Inevitably people's hackles are going to be up whichever side they lean towards more, and a lot of people with valuable input will inevitably end up going "yeah, I can see how that's a good point, but also the last person who brought this topic up with me deemed it appropriate to send me a barrage of messages telling me to kill myself about it, so forgive me if I'm not interested in engaging any further."

Obviously a culture of hero worship inevitably makes it a lot easier for predators to operate, and I have no doubt that being inundated with messages about how wonderful you are and how everyone who's criticising you is in the wrong must make it a lot easier to rationalise your actions. But I feel like this tendency to paint everything in terms of "are they a pure uwu blameless smol bean angel OR the devil incarnate" is incredibly unhelpful regardless of what side you come down on. The "devil incarnate" crowd can be part of the problem too.

But here’s a lil fic on how I think it would go:

Dallas’s Sick Day

Warning: talk of being sick, talk of throwing up (not detailed), slightly suggestive comments, and cursing

Dallas feels sick but he doesn’t tell anybody, he usually never does. But leave it to Johnny to tell when someone doesn’t look/feel good. “Hey man, you don’t look so good”. And truth be told, Dallas didn’t feel too good either, he felt hungover, but he knew he didn’t drink last night. No matter what was wrong or what was happening, he still felt awful. “No man, I’m fine”. He felt dizzy and hot, even despite ditching his jacket, which he rarely does. Johnny knows that Dallas is too stubborn to do anything about being sick himself and he’s not gonna let Johnny make him do anything about it. So as a last resort, Johnny takes him to the mother of the gang, someone he knew would take care of Dally, Darry.

Johnny walked into the doorway of the Curtis house, Dallas stumbling behind him. Man, he did not feel good. “Hey, Dally’s being stubborn, can you help me out?” Johnny asked quietly, afraid Dallas will leave if he hears why they’re really there. Darry sighs, “alright, I’ll see what I can do, but I can’t guarantee anything”. They both turn and watch as Dallas stumbles over to their couch to watch cartoons on the tv.

Darry softly walks over to Dallas. “Hey buddy, you don’t look so hot” Dallas looked up at him, “yeah, you’re not the first to tell me that” he glares at Johnny, but only for a second as he returns back to the tv. Darry walks away into the bathroom for a few minutes. After some beating and banging around in the medicine cabinet, Darry emerges from the bathroom with some liquid cold medicine.

“Hey Dal, I want you to drink this, okay buddy?” He holds out the medicine cup towards Dallas. “Man, I don’t need no damn medicine!” Dallas says in a whiny tone. He then sees Johnny look at him with a pleading look, which made him feel bad. “Fine,” he says with a groan, “Cheers!” He holds up the medicine cup and drinks it, slamming it down on the coffee table after he swallowed it. He made a face after swallowing the awful medicine.

Dallas then started coughing and gagging, a result of the medicine. “Goddammit!” he chokes. “This stuff is awful!” “Well, it might be awful, but it’ll make you feel better” Darry said. “Whatever you say” returned Dally.

Darry returned to making his coffee after Dallas settled down, thinking, it is way too early for this. A few minutes later, he sees Dallas jump up and book it to the window of the living room and open it like a madman. Dally hung his head out the window as Darry ran over to see what was going on. “Now Dallas just what in the hell are you-” he hears coughing and gagging coming from Dallas. Johnny was already over by Dallas, patting his back and looking pale himself. “I think he threw up” Johnny said in a low voice, looking at Darry. Darry could tell Johnny was heading in Dally’s direction too. “Ok Johnny, you can go and sit down now.” Darry said in a gentle voice. Johnny did as told and went to go sit back on the floor.

As Dallas finished, he fell on his knees and he turned around. He curled himself up with his legs to his chest. He looked like he was gonna cry and his face was red but pale at the same time. “You poor thing” Darry said. This is possibly the worst he’s ever seen Dallas, and that’s saying something. “Come on,” Darry said, motioning for Dally to get up. Dally slowly got up, his world still slightly spinning around him.

As Dally wrapped his arm around Darry’s shoulders for support, he was guided to Soda’s room. After all, Soda didn’t sleep in there anymore since he started sleeping with Ponyboy, so Darry wasn’t too worried about it. It was more like a guest room anyway, but nobody knew that. If they did, there’s no telling what would be happening in the room. On second thought, Darry had a pretty good idea on what would happen.

As Darry guided Dallas to the bed, he pointed for him to sit down. Dallas weakly sat down on sodas bed, using his hands to prop himself up. “Now, take off that shirt, will ya?” Darry asked. Dallas’s shirt had some of his sick on it, not a lot, but still enough. Dallas reluctantly took off his shirt, he had felt freezing cold these last few minutes, wishing he hadn’t ditched his jacket before. Dallas threw his shirt on the ground as Darry asked, “do you want one of Sodas old shirts?” Dallas shook his head. No matter how cold he was, clothing made him uncomfortable when he slept. The only article of clothing he’d ever wear to bed is his underwear.

Dallas kicked off his shoes and started to lay back on the bed. “Now, I’m gonna go put this shirt in the wash, when I come back in here I better see you resting. I’ll put a trash can on your side of the bed just in case, understood?” Dallas nodded his head, and as soon as Darry left the room, Dallas started taking his jeans off and he threw them in the floor. He curled himself up under the covers and slowly drifted off to sleep. The next time Darry walked into the room, Dallas was fast asleep, Darry decided to wash Dally’s jeans too, since realistically they haven’t been washed in god knows how long.

When Dallas woke up, he saw his shirt and jeans neatly folded on the nightstand with a note on top saying:

“Had to go to work, if you need somebody,Johnny and probably Two are in the house. When you wake up it’ll probably be time for your second dose of medicine, so I set it beside your clothes.

Get better soon,

Darry”

Dallas smirked as he saw the medicine cup laying beside his clothes. He contemplated for a minute, Darry’s words in the back of his mind, “Well, it might be awful, but it’ll make you feel better”. “damn, this better be worth it” Dallas said. And with that, Dally threw back his head swallowed the medicine. It was still as awful as he remembered it. He still didn’t feel good, but he was hungry.

He walked into the kitchen and low and behold, Two-bit and Johnny were there, watching tv. Dally walked into the kitchen, looking for a snack. He seen ramen noodles and thought, perfect. He was looking for a bowl and heard a cat-call-like whistle behind him. Uh oh. “Look at that fine piece of ass!” Two-bit whooped. Dallas had forgotten he was only wearing boxers. “Oh, shut up, Two” Dallas slightly reddened with embarrassment. For everything he talked, Dallas was actually a little shy when it came to his body. Dally was glad his underwear was black, which is quite forgiving, or else Two-bit would probably be hooping and hollering about some of Dallas’s other body parts.

As his ramen was heating up, Dallas went on the hunt for some pajama pants in Sodas room because he wanted to watch tv while he ate his ramen, and he’ll be damned if Two-bit harassing him was gonna get in the way of that. Luckily, he found a pair. Soda and Dallas were about the same size anyway, so Dally just slid the pants on with no issues. He seemingly got done just in time for his ramen. Dallas fixed his ramen and went to go sit down with Two and Johnny. “Dang Dal, you must not have felt so good” Johnny said. Dally raised a brow. “Why?” “Well, it’s three o’ clock in the afternoon and you’ve been asleep since eight this morning.” “What?” Dally said in shock. He didn’t bother to look at the alarm clock in Soda’s room when he got up.

It was awful quiet in the Curtis house considering Ponyboy was gone (probably getting into trouble with curly) and Steve, Soda, and Darry were at work. Two-bit broke the silence. “Hey guys, don’t I sound like Woody the Woodpecker?” Before they could process what he said, Two-bit tried to impersonate Woody the Woodpecker’s laugh. “Sure, Two” Johnny said with uncertainty. Dally just laughed. That medicine made him a little tired, even though he had just gotten up. Dallas decided to embrace the fact that he was sick and he was supposed to be getting rest. In his defense, he still felt kinda lousy, so he went and laid back down and peacefully fell back asleep (not without taking off Soda’s pj pants, of course)…

and just in general.. leave people comments. leave them asks about their projects. just go over and gush about their work. i know it sounds embarrassing but writers love nothing more than to hear that someone likes what they are doing. if you find a fic that hasnt been updated in forever, comment on it. it might just be the spark the author needs to continue. while kudos and likes are nice, and just as valuable to some, its definitely in the words the people leave for them that matter the most. im not saying this to put pressure on anyone, its just how it is, and i feel like unless people are writers themselves, and even then sometimes, thats just hard to grasp, especially if the writer is a smaller and less popular one who doesnt get a lot of traffic in the first place

i think thats all. just be nice and considered to everyone, reblog peoples works, this post with others add ons and so forth. and if i find anyone talking shit here or at other writers for something they share, you'll be blocked and im probably taking your kneecaps. be fucking nice. we are all struggling here and we need to stick together

I'm not trying to stir drama. I was simply organizing my Olivia tag on my page because I kept getting asked the same fucking questions over and over.

"Do you have pictures of Olivia with no makeup?" , "Do you have pictures of Olivia when she was younger?", "Do you have pictures of Olivia's art that she's done?" She should be flattered people are interested in her. They aren't interested in her music, but their interested in other stuff about her.

Anyway, I organized the posts, putting all the pics together (by topic) in one post, so that if anyone has a question, they can just find it in the #oliviajean hashtag here on Tumblr before they ask me the same questions again.

Lord knows nobody is doing a manuel search within my blog to search for stuff, so I put it on the public hashtag.

At the same time, I thoroughly organized posts about Jack and Olivia on my page. I deleted about 30 posts that weren't informative or really important and kept the rest.

Looking through some of the inactive Olivia Tumblr fanpages, I reblogged a few things that were interesting. I reblogged a few videos on your page. I answered your Ask about Lupus. I wasn't trying to stir shit up. I'm just doing my thing over here.

Those who follow me know I lost interest in these two lunatics after they posted their unhinged fear mongering shit on IG. I honestly couldn't care less.

Again - if Olivia and Jack only knew all the Ask's sent to my inbox that I reject, delete and never publish. If I didn't delete them, my page would be a daily shit show.

Just started yet another reread of Inimitable Verse by deniigiq and I fully plan on rereading their into the multiverse series which occasionally crosses over also - this is a Spider-Man/team red focused series, think comics canon infused early mcu-spidey since only homecoming had come out for a non substantial amount of time they were working on the series and the daredevil stuff is explicitly tv show AND comics. Also the multiverse series is how I got into Murderdock and therefore how I got into Spider Gwen

Unpretty's Sorrowful And Immaculate Hearts series which is just a loosely interconnected series of DC fics. My personal favorites are Empty Graves, in which Martha Kent keeps killing time travelers trying to kill baby! Clark; any of their clois fics but especially Third Wheel; and Anti-Social, which is a social media fic mostly about Tim and Bruce that made me cry laughing. Catch Bruce trying to get Walmart's employees to unionize. Also shout out to unpretty's only fic with Jason in it, it looks awesome but is tragically incomplete

This particular Reverse Robin AU which put in the work to reverse every single younger generation and is chef's kiss I LOVE this version of Tim he's wild

Both of Shoalsea's fics are in constant rotation for me I talk about Into The Brighter Night all the time in the tags of reblogs and stuff it truly lives in my head rent free. Anyway Tim gets kidnapped by aliens and the batfam have to watch as yj98 saves him and it's angsty and funny and such a good take on what could have been if the new 52 hadn't happened. And Compassion Builds No House is about Tim and Pru from Red Robin. Ugh they're both so good

Speaking of Clois (I did you've just forgotten this by now) brilliant (like a confession) by kathkin (penny-anna on the hellsite) is so fucking good I'm. Okay. Anyway it'll be listed as inspiration if/when I finally post my two person love triangle fic for them

so today i was in the mw oc server talking abt some stuff i noticed about jawbone (+ some other theory stuff as well!!)

so first of all. two kind of obvious details:

he is green (“yeah no shit sherlock” i hear u thinking. trust me there is a reason why im pointing it out)

his pupils are triangular. nobody else in the show so far has had triangular pupils. (well. i mean commander tezzoree’s eye has a triangular pupil but she hasnt made an appearance in any episodes yet and i doubt the two characters are connected)

another thing: so in the ref sheet of him posted to the mw tumblr back in september i believe(?), his name is written as “jawbone (a.k.a. scythelord)��

you know where a character by the name of “scythelord” has shown up already?

which means that tyneen and her crew are probably after him, which probably explains why they’re at the thicc chicc casino. (how do i know jawbone is there? because ricket is there, which i know because he is shown interacting with both shrike and tyneen, who we know are both there)

You CONSTANTLY ask for feedback, begging for comments on your fanfics, yet you don't even reply to them. You are not the least bit thankful. Yes, you're right, I guess I am a bit shameless in promoting my work. But I think I yap about my fics as much as the next writer. I'm proud of what I've made/am making and I want to talk about it. I sometimes tag #tianshan when talking about my fics, but oftentimes it's just #inap or #ddd because I don't want to bombard the tianshan tag with my silly posts.

And what sucks is what you're seeing as attention-seeking is half true (everyone makes posts to get attention, that's neutral fact), the other part of it is: I'm trying to make a connection. The way I wish someone would just DM me and talk to me directly about tianshan, or the latest ox chapters or hell, my fics - that would make me so happy!! Not many people do, and so I continue making posts about tianshan, making polls, asking for engagement from the fandom because bruh I've been into tianshan for practically a decade - I want to talk about them!

That bit about replying to every comment on the last chapter of inap is a weird thing to criticise. Over the years, I've struggled with replying to comments, and though I know it's not a requirement to do so, I've always felt bad about that. But by leaving that end note, I was holding myself accountable, making sure that I appreciate everyone who got to the end of my fic and left a lovely message for me. That's all man. There wasn't some superior mindset behind it. Someone leaves a message, I'm going to say thank you!

I answered that previous anon message because I know it's true, I'm not a good writer. I get stuck describing scenes very literally, I'm not good at metaphors or romantic wording, and I use italized words as a crutch to illustrate internal thoughts. Earlier this week, I reblogged a fanart piece for the Mouthwashing game, wondering why it was so popular, as while I had seen the game months earlier, seeing Tumblr get so into it was surprising as at the time, it didn't stand out to me too much when I first watched it. After being nosy and snooping around the tags, I now fully get why it has become such a phenomenon here.

Anyway, the whole thing kind of inspired me to want to make my own lil space crew. I'll be keeping their designs simple though, as I don't wanna stress myself out with this too much; its just a small side thing for funsies. I don't have full design ideas for others yet, but I figured I can at least post this guy for starters. I admittedly don't fully like the poster one, buuuut IDK how to fix it rn so I'll leave it as is.

The poster's Lone wolf quote is basically Stefan's mantra; it both shows how despite what he may seem like at first glance, he very much cares about the people around him, and how the whole "lone wolf" thing isn't even realistic (and in a way, harmful way of thinking), and Stefan knows that.

When I say "dad" I mean he is the responsible friend who tries to keep most shenanigans at bay - mainly from their tech assistant Mara.

The person yelling for him is in fact Mara

He's bi, tends to be oblivious to people's crushes on him because of a lot of self-loathing caused by what happened. He also learns later on he is polyamorous too.

He met pretty freaky people in prison, but NOBODY was as scary as his current captain, according to him.

His childhood friend has a crush on him, and so does the medic lady. He is aware of Matt's crush on him, but somehow completely oblivious to Cherry, even though she shows it more obviously.... (the Captain and the systems officer find it VERY fun to watch)

Those two aren't competitive or anything about their shared crush, they're both the kind of people that just want their loved ones to be happy and would be happy for either if they got lucky - provided the dumbass would notice either.....

His wolf motif is because of his surname meaning "wolf"

BG STORY STUFF: Stefan wears a gas mask, because of his sensitivity to a common gas type utilized in most spaceships' systems in this story; a special type of non-flammable gas, that unfortunately can cause hallucinations, and in his case, causes bouts of severe aggression/Lack of sense of pain.

-----> The reason why he has an odd reaction is because of some evil scientist shenanigans he had to go through as a kid, unknowingly to him and his mum, who thought the doctors were trying to cure a terrible illness he supposedly had. (They were just testing out brainwashing stuff, you know, usual evil government bullshit)

------> he ended up in prison because while working in another ship, he had a severe fit and killed a lot of his coworkers (whom he already had negative emotions towards due to their shitty behavior towards the woman staff - he was raised better by his mama)

-----> There was a massive riot in the prison he was in, hence he managed to escape.

His friend insisted on helping and got him in the ship; Stefan initially avoided everyone else like plague afraid he'd have a fit, but did grow fond of the oddball group pretty quickly.

Then, during a space-pirate raid, he learned that he can actually recognize this group even in that state, so they aren't in danger from him - plus their captain is a very prepared woman, and had already figured out his history. (She has stuff to knock him out to sleep it off)

Intro post.

I had a [tumblr] account before this one, but I became inactive/barely active on it for a long time, so I'm making a new one.

I decided to make this blog both a gimmick and my main, because my first gimmick on my old account became basically the same as my main but with some gimmick stuff sometimes.

Hopefully nobody has done this gimmick yet, because I was trying hard to come up with something new, until I eventually decided to do a holiday.

If you are sending an ask, and you really want it to be clear if it's in or out of character, put (gimmick) or (not gimmick) somewhere in the ask. Otherwise, I'll assume from the context.

I'm aroace (double repulsed), and a minor, so don't interact with me sexually or romantically.

I don't know my gender, and I don't care about it enough to focus on figuring it out, so for now I'm just calling myself gender unknown because of Pokémon.

I don't want chain asks, like "You're great! Sent this to 10 blogs who you think are great.", but I do want to be tagged in tag games, Picrew chains, and stuff like that.

Also, don't send me donation request asks, because I don't have a lot of money, and I don't want to verify every single one of them, risking either promoting a scammer, or missing evidence and thinking that someone who legitimately needs help is a scammer. If you need financial help, there are better places to ask for it.

Gimmick-specific part of the post (in character):

I'm Halloween, and my material form is a vampire (one of the scary monster-like ones, not one of the conventionally attractive human-like ones).

My body was created around 19 years ago, when the fear that has been accumulating throughout all of humanity's existence was strong enough to give me form.

I can see (and hear) everything that every non-sapient monster (or corvid, or black cat, or bat, for some reason) sees, and I can telepathically speak to all monsters (sapient monsters can choose to stop hearing it).

(Is this too much lore for a gimmick intro post? Also, does the lore sound like I'm trying to be dark and/or edgy (because I don't want that)?)
