Earnest young man with an unhealthy tan Puts a drink in my hand and says: "I understand You're in search of the place to continue the chase Of the heavenly taste? I suggest in that case You all come with me to my place by the sea Where the glasses shall be overflowing with free Alcoholic delights and free love if you like For what point has this life if you can't realize your dreams?"
Oh, raise your glasses high And drink the town dry!
We'll drink beyond the boundaries of sense! We'll drink 'til we start to see lovely pink elephants Inside our heads, inside our beds Inside the threads of our pyjama legs So don't shoot til you see the reds of our eyes And an army of elephants marching behind From the day I was born 'til the night I will die All my lovers will be pink and elephantine!

heard it was friday the 13th! here’s anti-kira :) the anti fairywinkle-anti-cosma family’s head butler. the opposite of his fairy counterpart, anti-kira is quiet, obedient, and doesn’t want to question any sort of authority over him by his lord — no matter how absurd they may be (well, anti-fairy world is a lawless land, so it's not like there's anything revolutionary he needs to be fighting for...)
like kira was to peri when he was a kid, anti-kira was some sort of babysitter for irep, though he’s more like an annoying older advisor instead of a quirky mentor like kira. like peri to kira, irep doesn’t like him. the reason's the opposite of peri’s — he’s a worrywart that fusses over irep’s wellbeing and disaster scenarios to the point it gets aggravating. coupled with his obedient nature, if not standing besides anti-cosmo, anti-kira is constantly seen running around the castle doing tasks, usually for his lord's evil, world domination plans.

You know, considering that Dale has a big interest in anything that can make him money
Would he use his newfound form to make a profit?
I feel as though, if it was Dev who got that bite, he'd totally use it for profit. Be it filming Dev like he's filming a odd dog, or caging him like he's some sort of attraction.
Oh, imagine all the promotions he could do! All the money he could make! All for the low low price of sacrificing his son
Too bad it wasn't Dev who got bit though
As addicted to money as Dale this is, quite literally, his worst nightmare come to life. He is horrified by his body and the idea of letting anybody see him like this is too mortifying to bare. not to mention he fully believes this is direct punishment for his actions.
As for using Dev a money making tool like that... horrifyingly, he probably would if he could get away with hiding that it was his child. That being said this never would have happened to Dev.
#fop nature au#He is also scared of being locked up in a lab to be experimented on#maybe one day he'll have a book written on this crazy supernatural experience he had#but right now hes much more concerned with trying to figure out if he can undo it#trying to think of a world where Dev has deer lycanthropy but Dale doesnt#If he's still recognizably Dev then like. tbh he'd proabably become the public face of werewolf acceptance#obviously it would be performative as hell#'give me money if you think my poor adorable son shouldn't be discriminated against for his lycanthropy🥺'#but like if you cant hide it profit from it you know#if he's not recognizably Dev then it'd proabably be darker

GRAAAH YOU HOOKED ME ONTO YOUR LITTLE BITTIES FOP AU RAAAHH *aheM* May we see some good ole' brother bonding time perchance? 👉👈 I've been sad recently, thinking about the show canon with Timmy basically straight up forgetting his own godbrother, leaving Peri to just suddenly move on?? Poor guy must've been so confused on why he couldn't see his brother anymore :[
Bonding time!! Once every two weeks, Timmy will take time off of work to visit and spend time with Peri. They like playing a common Fairy game called "Snip the Tail"!
Although it could get quite intense. They're not allowed to play it anymore at their parents' house. Peri's never won against Timmy.

Apollo isn't there to say it, but the guilty look on Klavier's face when asked about how much he's slept can probably be heard anyway. Especially when he says almost too quietly, "...Not really, no. Not on purpose, but... It just. Happened. I promise I napped a few times."
Apollo is certainly kinder than someone like the Chief Prosecutor might be able his behavior, but Klavier still feels chastised plenty. He doesn't like making people worry. But a tiny part of his mind is glad that someone clearly is.
"Thank you." Klavier says once Apollo finishes, clearly grateful. It's nice to be able to speak mostly freely with someone again, considering how long it's been since he's bared his heart like this. Not since before the Themis trial, and before that several weeks before the Tobaye trial. "...I mean it."
"But anyway. Um." He takes a moment to process Apollo's question, and make sure he understands where the other is--because it's clear Apollo misunderstood how quickly the pseudo-album came together. It's still in rough shape (a rough set of instrument parts with the guitar melody and his voice) but still a lot for only a handful of days. "Yes--feedback. You're...you're the first person to know this set of songs exists, really, at least in this state. Um--some of the lyrics are from old song ideas. A couple of lines that have been salvaged from what I wrote before the Gavinners was a thing, and Daryan vetoed the songs they originally came from." A slight waver in his voice, but he recovers fast. "I had thought about revisiting them since the Tobaye trial, since one or two lines have kind of always stuck out as my favorites."
"But 95% of the melodies and about 85 to 90% of the lyrics are all new, and the recycled stuff might as well be fresh, too, because it's changed so much. And...well, I don't really have anyone to help refine things." He's still friends with his former bandmates, but they've all kind of drifted apart in the past few years. Klavier's been busy, and they're all off either doing police work or enjoying their new solo careers. "So. Yeah. Thanks for--for. Mmm."
He's nervous. That's a first, at least in front of Apollo.
Regardless that there was no one in the room to make eye contact with, Apollo felt his gaze instinctively avert at the mention of Daryan Crecsend. Klavier had already assuaged his worries about being blamed for what had happened, but those events were obviously still a painful point, and it was hard not to still feel culpable for his loss. Especially when it was being pointed to as what had brought about this dry spell of musical inspiration, and when it was explained that that had been more difficult for Klavier emotionally than Apollo had ever acknowledged.
The comparison to journalling helped things fall more into place. Apollo didn't know a thing about music or songwriting, but he did write prolifically about his thoughts and feelings, and he could empathize with the catharsis of capturing the things that were hard to say out loud in a different form. The private nature of a journal didn't translate completely to the artsy need to create and share music that 'worked', but it was still easy enough to imagine the struggle of working through more complex feelings without such a reliable aide to express them.
Like, feelings about the execution of someone you looked up to.
"This... week...?" Apollo fell silent for a moment, but anyone listening could probably hear the sounds of his brain frantically recalibrating to this new information. He'd already known that on some level this had to have been related to Mr Gavin, just given the timing of it -- but Klavier suddenly regaining his songwriting ability and recording ten new pieces in less than a week after his brother's death provided much, much different context than Apollo's initial assumption that he had been sitting on a half-finished album for a couple of years and merely taken recent events as the impetus to finish it and send it out. "Did you-- have you slept?"
But that wasn't really what this conversation was about, and Apollo didn't want to put his friend on the defencive by criticizing his priorities in taking care of himself (... yet). "I mean... yeah, I'd be frustrated, too. All of this is a lot to have stayed pent up all this time, isn't it...?"
"So, help me understand. I think I'm mostly getting it already, but 'everything' is a lot to come out at once like this... so maybe talking through it will help you figure out where you can tighten it up. That's why you wanted feedback before showing it to anyone else, right?" Apollo tried to sound focussed on the music; he didn't want to ask directly about anything Klavier wasn't emotionally ready to share, but the pieces were coming together in a way that made him more concerned for his feelings than he had been already. Klavier talked like some part of him that had been trapped was set free when he was able to write again -- but if that freedom was triggered by the death of someone close and took the form of a manic, days-long songwriting episode, was it a sign of healing or of sickness? "Whatever you need, I want to help."

Hi! I really like your other takes on Underdark races, and wanted to ask if you had any thoughts on improving grimlocks? Beyond the permanent blindness they have and the whole being humans who adapted to the underdark, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot else done with them.
Monsters Reimagined: Grimlocks
Would it surprise anyone to learn that a d-list d&d monster has It's roots in 1800s ideas about eugenics and bad adaptations of genre fiction? No? Then you've been paying attention, top marks.
Asker is absolutely right in their assessment that there's not really much to grimlocks. They're one of many "hostile tribal primitives" that have filled out the monster roster ever since the original developers lifted them en mass from the pulp adventure stories they grew up reading.
A common theme among these pulp works and the early scifi that inspired it was devolution, the idea that a people could degrade from greatness back into an animistic nature. The most well known pop culture example would be HP lovecraft's deep ones, where the author's fears of race mixing manifest as monsters that literally push humanity back down the evolutionary ladder to the stage of fish.
There's plenty of different ways to explain the origin of this writing trend, but I like to chalk it up to an anxiety resulting from the widespread acceptance of Darwin's theory of evolution by a society that believed wholeheartedly in scientific racism. If intelligence (read: whiteness) wasn't just a god given right but was infact inheritable, then it could also be disinherited, bred out of a population whether by on purpose or by accident. This made it so important to practice good breeding (read: eugenics), to preserve the pure stock from falling to degeneracy (read: miscegenation) and introducing undesirable traits into the genepool.
We can see fear this with grimlocks, humanoids who were inherently lessened by their "adaptation" to life underground, losing their intelligence and eyesight and descending into a state of barbarism. Given that this is one of the few d&d monsters that mention evolution at all, we can trace this feature to their likely inspiration: The morlocks in H.G. Wells' Time machine, published a scant 36 years after Darwin published The Origin of Species.
I'm not well read enough to know whether Wells pioneered the idea of subhuman descendants, but I can say that most of his imitators missed the point of his writing: Wells saw in his day an increasingly indolent upper class inflicting brutal and dehumanizing labour conditions on the poor to support their own carefree lifestyle. He satirized this in his book by showing that while the descendants of the rich had devolved into beautiful, useless, idiots, the descendants of the workers devolved into subterranean ape-things who maintained the machinery that allowed the eden like existence of the rich while farming them for meat. Say what you will about Wells' race politics (Neither degenerate fop or inbred ape can withstand the smarts and strength of the enlightened colonial Englishman) but his writing was specifically class continuous, and the brutality of the morlocks was a direct result of the exploitation of working people in his own day and age.
When the morlocks were adapted into the grimlocks , the d&d writers kept their canibalistic streak but specifically removed their class based origins as well as their mechanical knowhow. This is a near identical process to what happened with a creature the worlocks helped inspire: Tolkien's orcs, which were likewise turned from a commentary on the brutality of the industrial age into warlike primitives. It's a bit of a trend.
If you wanted to "fix" the grimlocks I'd go one of two ways:
If you want to engage with themes of primality, make them legit underdark dwelling primates/australopithecus type of creatures, just figuring out tool use and language. Make the rumours of them being descended from cave-exploring humanoids a common myth made up by surface dwellers.
If you want to get spicy about it though, give them back their mechanical aptitude and maybe mix in a few more dashes of pulp "lost civilization" ancient aliens nonsense. Have them dwell in great mechanical complexes beneath the earth, worker drones who've long outlived the creatures that enslaved them and scribed mechanical knowledge into their very being. Originally denied understanding of the machines they toiled to build, work, and maintain, the grimlocks jealously guard the science they've spent generations reverse engineering, giving them the reputation of being violently territorial for those underdark travelers who venture too close to the megastructures they inhabit.

The Fairly Odd Parents: A New Wish Observations
What actually sold me on giving this series a solid chance, was the theme song, why? Because for me it showed what the series is attempting to be, something that’s paying homage to the source material while being it’s own thing and knowing what it wants to be.
The original theme song is categorized as Electric Swing or Light Jazz. This new theme song sounds like straight up Swing and it SLAPS!
The Set Up
So Hazel Wells moves to the city with her parents for her Dads job and at the same time her older brother and best friend Antony has left for college. Leaving Hazel overwhelmed but still trying to put on a brave face for her family. Not long after arriving they are visited by their new next door neighbors
Cosmo and Wanda are masquerading as a retired human couple
Lol one of the gifts in the welcome basket Cosmo gives them is a jar of pennies. In some places it’s a thing to leave pennies as gifts for fairies, I wonder if Cosmo thought it was a custom human gift
The concept of the parents are pretty interesting, especially their jobs.
Angela is a therapist and author, with all of the non self awareness fairy world had going on her insight could definitely be interesting if she somehow finds out. she is also pretty open minded and non judgmental, not being off put by Cosmo and Wanda’s weird behavior and inviting them in
Marcus is a paranormal scientist, which instantly makes Cosmo and Wanda nervous but what makes him interesting is that he didn’t go in the direction I thought he was going. I thought he was going to go full FOP writing fashion and him basically say he was looking for fairies. But no, he is just wanting to learn the unexplained and mostly about ghost. I don’t know the fact that he is presented as a friend to Cosmo and Wanda who could be a potential obstacle because of the interest that are apart of his character is a lot more interesting then if he was presented as a blatantly obvious obstacle and that’s his only purpose as a character. ( not saying it was bad when FOP did it, they did it in a way that was funny just not to compelling)
Hazel figures out they are magic because both Cosmo and Wanda are piss poor at hiding it but Hazel actually completely drops it after being unable to get her parents to see it
Angela and Marcus actually make pretty good foils for Cosmo and Wanda they are both just completely normal people who highlight Cosmo and Wanda’s colorfulness just as they highlight Angela and Marcus’s normalcy. Hazel, Marcus, and Angela seem to be emotionally intelligent people and it makes them enjoyable and honestly is refreshing
This girl has more emotional maturity then I ever dreamed of having at 10, she keeps her brave face until she hears that Antony can’t come visit till the holiday brake, she has an understandable brake down and her parents feel really bad they are having to change so much so fast for her.
She almost runs away until Cosmo and Wanda catch her (which is interesting because when she passed them on her way up stairs they where to busy with their mail to pay attention to her, but when she is about to run away their full attention snapped to her. Their “child is about to do something stupid”senses must have been tingling) she relents and vents to them about her troubles and that she just wanted to see her brother.
Cosmo and Wanda seem to have a Cathartic moment in realizing that Hazel needed help and that they realized that they were ready to be Godparents again. It was this moment I was like “yeah, you guy’s definitely retired because letting go of Timmy hurt you”
It’s when after everything is resolved and Hazel visits their vary magical and whimsical apartment (I bought the episodes on YouTube but they wouldn’t let me take screen shots) that they reveal that they had been on a 10,000 year sabbatical through time and space during their retirement. They don’t bring up Timmy, just say that they used to be Godparents to kids but then retired for 10,000 years (and no it’s not 10,000 years into the future, they were just time traveling). They actually nervously ask Hazel if she would consider being their Godkid which she enthusiastically agrees too. Don’t make pacts with fairies kids
How it’s going so far
Something interesting to note that while they never bring up Timmy, he kinda haunts the background I think they still have some unprocessed grief for Timmy that may get unpacked. I herd this show is supposed to get an overarching story and after seeing a few episodes I can tell that it’s staying consistent that it’s not completely episodic even if it’s a slow build ( as slow as it’s allowed to be anyway)
It looks like their human personas are their default disguises, that has the potential to be interesting in future episodes
I can tell that Hazel is still not 100% close with Cosmo and Wanda right off the bat, she is still getting to know them, like it was actually so enduring to watch her formally thank them for playing with her. Cosmo and Wanda are also trying to ease themselves in for her sake, but it’s clear that even though they are out of practice they are all in for this little girl and are in Godparent mode. Wanda is never not in Mom mode, and Cosmo already knows all of her special interests off the top of his head in the short time he has known her.
I don’t know, I just saw that a lot of people have been “rightfully” cautious about this show or have written it off, and just wanted to share some things that I thought made it interesting and made it worth giving a look
There are some who are a bit hopeful because one of the writers for infinity train is on the writing team so who knows
#fop#the fairly oddparents#the fairly oddparents a new wish#fop a new wish#fop a new wish spoilers#not the stuff I usually write about#but it did catch my interest#idk I just hope this didn’t get to rambley

you guys… izzy calls stede things like “ponce” and “fop”* because those are class-based insults. stede is a rich fuck who decided on a whim to pirate and absorbed ed into his dangerous little play fantasy. izzy doesn’t hate stede for being “effeminate”. he hates him for doing this job that they all have to do to survive simply for fun when he didn’t need to, and pull ed into the whimsy that will likely get him killed or get stede killed and ed depressed.
stede, to izzy, comes across as a man playing a fun game and using poor (and not very competent) ppl as his pawns in it because he wants a good time, whereas ed and izzy didn’t choose to become pirates because it seemed like a good laugh, but moreso because it was that, or starve and die, and then made the best of it. they put in the work and carved out a legend as protection, us vs the world and then stede shows up and ed doesn’t care about them anymore and stede didnt do anything to “earn” his place as a captain, which izzy probably wouldn’t care about if it wasn’t directly affecting ed.
*revisiting this and izzy doesn’t call stede this, it was calico jack who did that, izzy in the show has insulted stede on his competence and his intelligence and his class status, but not anything to my knowledge that is coded as queerphobic or homophobic. the op of the post i’m referencing said izzy said it but i dont think he did.
#idk#rambling maybe#izzy hands#ofmd#the izcourse#ish#adding this after: this is based on a post that says izzy calls stede those things#looking back on it im not sure if izzy calls stede a ‘fop’ i think thats cj that does that#sighs i guess i gotta rewatch every izzy scene….

Oh hello! Ah, your welcome! Maybe it's because I've also wanted to see a FOP AU that leans more into darker fairy lore that I felt so inspired by seeing your post lmao.
Like..., you can do so much with how many dark themes FOP has. (Plus, your Fairy designs remind me so much of the full on white robe costumes from the Midsommar movie, like I wonder how Jorgen would look like in your AU adfagsgshs. It certainly will be funny to see him in a dress hahaha.)
I will put more of my comments down here.
It is unfortunately a detriment for Timmy's safety and sanity, but it is also for character development and good horror writing hehe. I just thought there's so much fun with such a concept.
But, I don't think there's many that share my sentiments lmao, since FOP as a standalone show is so light-hearted and slapsticky with heavy dark understones. Unlike, it's sibling show, Danny Phantom, which also has really cool dark ideas, but sometimes will touch upon it, dissimilar to FOP lol.
But about what you mentioned for your AU, adafhsshjs hahaha alright, I guess Timmy being involved in child labor does contribute more to him being really miserable hahahah. So, hm, I guess I will have to rethink about some stuff I've thought about and with your recent inputs of your AU.
I think Vicky being his workplace tormentor is a good idea! My theory was just quite similar to what the show had, so I think this makes more sense to implement her by this role in this AU.
I wonder how much does Timmy owe them with the wishes/magic conjuring lmao. It certainly will not help him being less involved with the paranormal and magic later on (or being taken by Cosmo and Wanda lol).
Besides that, I didn't know that fairies from myths all see humans on a similar age level? That's certainly an interesting idea. So, that's why they terrorize the humans without discrimination then. (Eh sorry, I think I misunderstood of what you mentioned about children being treated as similar to adults. You meant that in the era sense, not myth sense. Apologies my bad.)
Still, Cosmo and Wanda are the ones to free Timmy from his child-labor situation? Or do they just provide him the childhood that he needs? I'll reread that part lmao. I guess I am that tired to misread that.
I do have to admit, that I do not have enough knowledge or know intimately on details of the Victorian era in history. Like, I can google it and read about it online, but it will never be as great as those who have learned about it more seriously and can implement it into their stories. Still, even if my understanding is just surface level, that doesn't stop me from having fun thinking about your AU.
I will continue to read about stuff related to this AU for more accuracy, but it still won't be as perfect as those who get the era and myths more deeply. So yeah, I have more ideas that I want to share on your AU, but time isn't on my side currently. But, I will read more if you have more to share about this AU in the meantime.
No pressure though! Just have fun and take your time like I do!!!
Thank you for the compliments on my sketches by the way. I kinda want to draw Timmy in a dress based on an old painting for this AU hahaha. (I need to formulate which angle and designs looks good... this will take a while.... I have to finish my reports first *cries silently*.)
Overall, you know how I think your AU and designs are very cool beans lol. I want to see more and might contribute more, but I won't force you if there's not much to say.
I will unfortunately be very busy these next few days, still I am here if you want to discuss more on this AU or if you have more things to say. I am certainly invested. Thank you and I'll see you later.
Just a few thoughts in the night
My little fix on Fairly "The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish!" won't let me go, so I've been thinking a little bit about everything. Today I decided to refresh my memory about how fairies were represented in myths and folklore. Of course, I turned to wikipedia with this question. It was interesting to find out that fairies were described as spirits with a glow, and their bodies had the consistency of a thick cloud, "and their bodies are so changeable because of the refinement of the spirit." By nature, they are quite touchy creatures, but also fairies have always been ready to thank a person for doing them a favor / helping. It is better not to accept gifts from fairies. After a while, the "fairy gold" may well turn out to be leaves or crumbs from a pie. Well, how can you forget that these creatures are terrible pranksters? It was they who tangled their hair at night, soiled things that were dried in the air, stole small objects, led travelers away from the true path. And besides small tricks, they could have more dangerous behavior, well, for example, it was believed that if a person died unexpectedly, his fairies stole and planted a dummy. Do you remember that fairies are offended? Well, they're also vindictive. The avenging fairy can cause serious illnesses and cause paralysis in livestock, or cause fires. And they also stole or took children (and not only) to their magical world forever. No one knew about the fate of these unfortunate people, but there are two options - either an absolute joyful life without worries, or death from homesickness. Oh, and many more people who supposedly had magical abilities received them from fairies. Just imagine an au in which the fairies from FOP would be more like the fairies from the myths (I don't know if there are similar au and fanfiction on them, but agree, the idea is interesting). Or in general, where the characters are transferred to a more medieval/Victorian setting and interact with fairies. Imagine, fairies don't just help children, but use them for their own selfish fairy purposes. Either for revenge, or for a prank, or for the sake of, uh, the subsequent transfer of children to the Devil. Idk, it's fun to play with and all that.
(Well, it seems that in the Victorian era people especially strongly believed in fairies, so, huh, keep Timmy that a little boy in the Victorian era and meets fairies. They definitely will NOT give him to the Devil instead of their child ("It was popularly believed that this dangerous habit for humans had to do with the "subordinate" position of fairies, who are forced to pay tribute to the Devil with their own children; to save the latter, they steal human ones"))
#the fairly oddparents#the fairly oddparents a new wish#fairly oddparents#fop#fopanw#fop au#fairy#myth#mythical beings#thoughts and theories#victorian dark fae fop au lol#usagifuyusummer reply posts#i love the idea of this au lol thank you i will be observing and maybe give my two cents on this au when i have the time#in the meantime take your time and have fun!#oh yeah i remembered your recent concept art showed that the fairies are not wearing white dresses anymore it was a recent development#that i didn't register it yet when writing this reply lmao now the fairies look like those old fantasy fairy drawings lol with glitters#and sparkles everywhere! it looks so pretty lol but i kinda think that the first time timmy meets them that they're wearing white robes#due to the early midsommar vibes i got from your early sketches lol im kinda thinking the ceremony that timmy saw them do was not very nice#to some poor human victim lmao timmy got traumatised from seeing that ceremony and got was early on terrified when he found out TWO fairies#were following him around after that event that's why he's so cautious and guarded with the fairies early on but as time goes on#he eventually found that these two fairies only wish to care and nurture (and take him forever) so yeah i need to write this more neatly lo

Hey! How are you doing? I hope you're doing well!
I have a few thoughts on my mind about Timmy, man I miss him so much! I know we have the original series to watch but still. (So sorry that it’s long one!)
I would imagine that Timmy would turn out to be a great man with a good job, a lovely husband and father to his family.
I think maybe his job would be a lawyer, writer or a job that helps children with problems of their own like social worker or something.
About his wife...
I'm not quite sure about Trixie because I have mix feelings about her. She seems to not care about Timmy at all. I know they're still kids and we have no idea what happened as they grow up after the original series (not counting Season 9 and 10 as I heard both don't exist anymore in FOP New Wish.) | don't know if I really like her or she's right for Timmy.
Maybe Tootie would get over her obsession at least I hope so. I know she went through so much thanks to her older sister, which I'm disappointed in their parents for not doing anything due to many reasons, they may have been good people but not good parents.
Anyway, due to Timmy's future daughter from Channel Chasers, they looked similar so it's most likely that it has to be Tootie. If that's really her then I would hope she grow up and more mature, she will not be afraid of her sister, Vicky!
Kind of hope Vicky won't find out that that she has niece and nephew if they never told her…
Tootie or Timmy meeting a new lovely woman that is rightfully for him that cares and love him very much. I don't mind having Tootie, I would love to see her, all I hope she no longer afraid of her sister!
I'm not sure how it works with twins from Channel Chasers' ending like how it does make sense. I find it hard to tell because that ending takes place in 20 years later but FOP New Series takes place into 20 years later as well. Cosmo and Wanda were seen with twins but in the canon they're Hazel's. Poof/ Peri wasn't planned/added until Season 6 of the original. Channel Chasers episode came from Season 4. Twins can't be 10 years old because it seems like Timmy had them at 20 years old. It wouldn't make sense.
It would make more sense if the twins, Tammy and Tommy were younger than Hazel and Dev like 5 years old or younger, but I'm not sure if they will become canon to FOP New Wish. It would be interesting if they do. I don't know about the names Tommy and Tammy. If they become canon and are 5-6 years old, it would be interesting to see their personalities being opposite, like one twin is more calm and chill during other one is more cheerful and funny. That one of them or both are into the mystery and adventures.
I kind of hope that they will have their clothes different designs and not look exactly same as 10 years old Timmy and 10 years old Tootie.
Or maybe they would be toddlers.
About Timmy's parents…
Do you think Timmy stay in contact with them? I wouldn't be surprised if he no longer wants to do with them due to reasons and that they don't know anything about Timmy's children. It's not like Timmy wants to keep them secret, his parents can be, well... them.
I wouldn’t be surprised if his parents have not changed much.
Timmy and his family would no longer live in Dimmsdale City because of well.... We saw how they are... yikes, poor Timmy.
Do you think Timmy still friends with AJ and Chester? I'm not sure if they're still friends or something. I mean AJ has the business of his own and is such busy. Still can't believe he became fairy hunting- (Big YIKES for Fairy World!)
We have no clue about Chester but hopefully we will see him. :'D
I'm not sure if we will see ALL characters to return, cause that's too much and some only appear a few times, some appeared once. Timmy’s grandparents, Crocker’s mother and some probably are dead.
I'm not quite sure about Chimson Chin and Dark Laser because they were wishes along with Imaginary Grey, right? I got feeling that probably they all got erased along with the rest of Timmy's wishes and are no longer exists because Timmy is no longer a Godchild as we saw in Timmy’s secret Wish, how when a Godchild lost their fairy/ies, their wishes has vanished.
But seriously, poor Chimson Chin, Dark Laser and his dear little dog. :(
I know Peri and Irep are still around but I believe probably Fairy Council has a way with them, well with Peri, that they're different from the rest of wishes. Probably there’s a reason why Peri has his own special wand.
I would like to see Peri’s reaction when he sees Crocker, I mean he saw Vicky and thought she wasn’t real! :’D
Anyway, I can tell it’s going to be hard seeing Timmy with no memories of his fairy family and magic. I know we have to deal with it. We can do it! We just have to see what they’re planning with him. I would like to see Jorgen, how he deals with seeing Timmy to go with the final goodbye, after everything he had done for Fairy World. How many times he had saved them from the dangerous situations especially with Darkness.
(I loved that Wishology episodes-)
I’m bet it was very difficult for Wanda, Cosmo and Peri to say goodbye to Timmy. It was really hard for Peri to understand what’s going on cause he was 7 years old.
Hopefully Hazel doesn’t have to deal with some huge challenge adventures herself like how Timmy did, not counting the final season of FOP because it was kind of easy and she had a lot of helps from her brother, friends and her wishes.
I don’t know if you know but there was a theory that Timmy still remember them due to his memory not getting wiped away by Jorgen was because of Love. The Love is more powerful than magic that can’t be done. Kind of interesting but also I would think that if his memories really wiped, maybe his memories didn’t got wiped away, they just blocked out and are blurry, then returned years later. If his memories got wiped away then his feelings of love cannot be gone, still there, deep inside. He probably went to have some therapy. I saw one theory that his favorite colors are green, pink and purple that made him feel special and happy, which is interesting.
Memories or not, I think Timmy would feel uncomfortable and unsure about AJ’s business like AJ telling him some stories which doesn’t make sense. Timmy would say something like:
“But AJ, what if there’s good ones?.. I mean if they’re real.”
Or something like that. He probably wouldn’t be wondering why Crocker was at Galax Institute as he wouldn’t want to know why as we know why how crazy Crocker is…
It would be cool if Timmy and his family became the next neighbors of Wells’ and Cosmo and Wanda’s.
My apologies if anything that doesn’t make sense-
SORRY IT TOOK ME A BIT TO RESPOND TO UR ASK!! Anyway GIRL UR IDEAS?? 10/10!! ok so there's so much to cover so very sorry if I don' get to it all! I love the idea that Timmy is skeptical of AJ and his whole business, AJ did start it when he was 10, so Timmy would have his fairys DURING the creation of this company. He must have been lowkey terrified LOL. Ive seen the theory that Timmys memory couldn't be fully erased due to love, and tbh I really want that to be true. Out of all theories, Its one of my favorite ones! Hazel is def gonna have a lot of an easier time compared to Timmy, as Timmy kinda delt with all the universe-ending stuff of his time. Hazel has a lot more support, especially as more people know about her fairys in the finale and she dosnet have to worry about hiding them all the time! DONT GET ME STARTED ON JORGEN AND TIMMY.. IN MY MIND TIMMY HOLDS A SPECIAL PLACE IN JORGENS HEART AND NO ONE CAN EVER ERASE THAT... LIKE HE IS A STICKLER FOR THE RULES AND HE WILL ABIDE TO THEM BUT HE ALSO SEES THAT STUPID ASS PINK HAT AND SMILES SOMETIMES sorry if I didn't go over everything u said!! Ive had this in the drafts for a while but I love ur thoughts :3 also I hope he went no contact with his shit ass parents :D

Operation Birthday Takeover Review/Analysis
I wanted to include this in the review bomb but decided against it because the episode would take too much yap compared to the others to summarize properly, let's go!
(sorry if these screenshots have the player on them I couldn't find a better way bare with me this is better than the easier route i'd have taken)
HAHAHAHAHAHA SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT HERE!
First of all, PERI! YOU'RE BACK BABY HBUIEBRBFEIBFWiuB
Second of all and most important, this was a MAJOR Dev episode. Well, obviously, since it's his birthday, but we got to see more of him being nice while it lasted anyways, and we also got to see more of Dale's neglect and it's affects on Dev.
You can see he's clearly disappointed about his dad paying no attention to Dev at all, preferring to work on "Project H" instead of his own son. Will throw hands on this man fr.
Throughout the episode we see more hints of this disappointment, like when Vicky gets invited to the party (Dev doesn't even like princesses! DUDE!)
Now that I'm really rewatching as I go, Hazel seems to be very aware of it and very empathetic towards Dev, I like that about her. She's looking out for her friend! Good on her!
On the other hand (to move the plot forward and thus this review), I love seeing the fairy family back in action again!
I love their dynamic even more! Also I swear to God half of the iconic lines come from these interactions I swear to God.
"Time to see what's so secret about this room!....... On second thought never mind" SOBBING LAUGHING
Having the three of them slowly find out that project H is actually Project Hazel is so wild. THEY LITERALLY WROTE DOWN IMPORTANT INFO ON THE BOARD LIKE THE FAIRIES THING. COSMO! WANDA! WHYYYYYYYYY
The sad part of the matter is, Dale was fixated on Dev's friend of all people simply because she was... content? With fairy godparents? It's so sad actually for Dev... he REALLY needs someone to care about him
I wanna get into Vicky though now, and the surprising amounts of references to the OG series that were made in less than 2 minutes apart from each other? Crazy!
First of all, she's back! An interesting character to return for sure, considering she mostly acted as Timmy's babysitter in the OG series, but the continuity of this show never ceases to surprise me!
She's somehow similar looking? Like, correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't she be older now? Significant enough to be changed visually for sure. AJ was 10 in the original series and now he's like 30 something. By that logic shouldn't Vicky be closer to her 40s? Does that age a person significantly from 16? That's what I thought anyways... She's still into the "conning little children for money" thing. She's literally 30+ at least, did she not try to up her game somehow? IMHO she totally could have extreme power like that over adults if she got gullible enough ones, could've been worse, but I guess people of Vicky's personality don't truly change unless there's a major life breakthrough that happens. You know what they say about peaking in high school...
Icky Vicky the song (and thus the episode it was in) is canon to the FOP A New Wish universe. I could swear the song sounded slightly different than it did when it was sung in this episode, but I'll blame that on the song coming out 10+ years ago and voice actors being too specific to nail down (I think the guy from one direction played the Icky Vicky singer? No wonder they couldn't invite him back). The song being referred to as "old" got me cringing a bit. I didn't grow up with the show but I get the feeling people who did felt themselves aging in real time with Jasmine's comment...
TIMMY MENTION! TIMMY HAS BEEN MENTIONED BY NAME IN THE A NEW WISH UNIVERSE AGAIN!
Poor fairy trio though, they're all traumatized by Vicky, even Peri (who thought she was some weird ass dream, dawg I wish 😭) and immediately they're cowering with fear at the sound of her name. They got PTSD or something from all those years in original FOP...
What's funnier is them being able to stand up to Vicky by just. transforming into humans, which works bc that's always worked in FOP canon (when parental figures showed up in the OG), but somehow Wanda and Cosmo didn't fucking know that? Truly, Wanda, it would've been nice for y'all to know that some decades ago.
"That's Vicky for ya! Making Kids Miserable Since 2001!"
Actually it would be 1998 if we count the Oh Yeah Cartoon Pilot and subsequent episodes, but I guess we're only counting actual FOP as canon 😔
-
I wanna really talk about the last scene though, where Dev finds out that Project H was Project Hazel. It REALLY tears him up inside to see just HOW bad his father doesn't give a shit about him.
LOOK. LOOK AT THAT FACE AND TELL ME THAT ISN'T DEVASTATION! Even as he's recounting all the times that his father talked about Project H
The emotional neglect really runs deep with this one.
He lashes out at both Peri and Hazel (her especially since he's under the impression that she faked being his friend or something) and even wishes for Peri to leave him alone. So basically he's closing himself off from the 2 people who cared about him the most, likely as an emotional response. And then he goes and crosses off everything on the board in anger and leaves.
I've noticed Peri's behaviour towards Dev has changed a bit again since the Dimmsonian episode. I think in that episode initially he seemed more tired, and he's probably still tired, but if he is, it's not shown as much here. I think personally Peri seeing more of Dev's life might've changed his attitude towards the child, but he still remains semi optimistic. He cares about this kid. It's shown even in just those few seconds of hesitation before he leaves that Peri was kind of heartbroken/sad at the request to leave Dev's side, but was willing to do so since he asked/wished. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I really do enjoy their dynamic and really wish to see more of it, especially after this.
This is all 100% driven from his dad's actions affecting his emotional state, and I think this is actually a perfect setup for the episode where Dev and Irep take over Fairy World. Especially if Irep finds Dev like not even seconds after this scene, he's more vulnerable now than he's been throughout the whole series thus far, so a manipulator like Irep (if he is a good one, but heck even if he was dogshit at it) could defo make him change his thoughts on things.
Overall this episode was great and there's lots to love about it!
#posts#fop a new wish#my reviews#I might make more focused posts later because I go on autistic tangents abt details and I feel like I lose the thread of stuff#with longer eps like these that is#have this for now#I guess this is why I'm more hesitant to post reviews bc I tend to go off in 5 directions lol

not to come trudging into your inbox unwanted, but is there a word for the phenomenon where like, a protagonist meant to be like, an underdog and societal outcast evolves into The Only Real Person over the course of the narrative because the author is so dead set on making the main character a hated little meow meow but also always right and the only valid arbiter of justice?
I don't know if there's one word specifically for that, but at risk of tvtropesification I would describe this as a phenomenon that can happen multiple ways with slightly different flavors.
Type A: What Do You Mean I Have Traits?!
Example: Danny Phantom.
Basically this is distinguished by being present from the absolute start. We are supposed to believe Danny (or Timmy, FOP does this too) is a Total Loser, but, actually, nobody seems to have a problem with him besides Dash and the series never seems to struggle to think of kids who have it worse than him in the social pecking order.
At this point, the Uncool-Ness of the protagonist is essentially a fig leaf. You can also often see this with "everyman" protagonists like the fantasy hero who comes from a small countryside town but will never have any sort of qualities people might look down on as "rural" or "a country bumpkin". See also: the Sky High variant where the hero has to relate to and move within the underdogs but crucially is ultimately revealed to not be an underdog at all by having the most conventional powers at all.
The underlying problem to type A here is it is written with the goal of relating to the lowest common denominator. It assumes that a character being successful, motivated, driven, is unrelatable... but also, someone being a "real" loser who is actually disabled or poor or has actual unglamorous consequences is not relatable either. So you get an upper middle class perpetually single guy with one (1) bully who hates him and one (1) girl who's Tragically Out Of His League (but is also dying to jump his bones) and this is passed off as actually just the safe, generic, reliable guy! perfectly ordinary. And just for YOU, audience, because this is what we think you are: a loser with no reason for it.
(suffice to say I do not care much for this type of everyman writing.)
Type B: The Backstory Creep
This is more common in long-running series, especially manga with their production model encouraging a bit of seat-of-pants-ing. Basically your character actually starts out a real everyman who could be somebody. A good example of this type I'd point to is Luffy from One Piece.
Yes, Luffy has a power uncommon to his setting, but the Gum-Gum fruit isn't lavishly unique among devil fruits; it has its strengths and drawbacks. There are even ways that ordinary people have an advantage over devil fruit users. So Luffy is just a particular promising rookie who we like because of his personality.
Then... it turns out Luffy's dad is famous but somehow nobody before this point has assumed a Monkey D. Luffy is related to the notorious Monkey D. Dragon. And then it turns out Luffy's grandfather is also famous... and then we get into the implications of the Will of D and Gol D. Roger.
You can even do this if your characters already HAVE an obvious connection but it gets worse. Consider also Naruto, and how it's baldfacedly obvious from the start Naruto is Minato's son, considering he looks like a younger Minato with whisker marks; later installments of Naruto decided to make his mother not just an amazing badass but also that the Uzumaki name was attached to some amazing legendary ninja clan, which... people more into the series than me have pointed out this makes really upsetting context out of an early fight where a character who is meant to be wrong argues that all victory or loss is based on who is a superior being, and Naruto argues back that if a nobody like him can defeat his opponent, then it's proof this is wrong and free will is important...
...but never mind that, we can give our hero an entirely unforeshadowed Badass Secret Legacy!
(did I mention both of these variants really like to shit on adopted parents? because of course adopted parents can't give you Proof Of Badassery in your genetics.)
A big part of what I think is wrong with both of these, is that it basically tries to have its cake and eat it too. Your character is powerless and likable and struggling, except they succeed amazingly and have cool parents and all these connections! Your character is dominating and godlike except they're such a rookie underdog they are not responsible for their power at all, and don't have to face any consequences or concerns related to being an overpowered monster.
The more honest way to field it, is that if your character is a luckless street urchin, let the narrative treat them that way. Let them have consequences of it that aren't just pretty or flawless. If your character is glamorous and powerful, let the narrative treat them that way. Even in relatively trivial ways, this kind of power-but-not-actually can create weird vibes.
To pick on Frozen, a film I otherwise actually enjoy a fair bit of- Anna's love of chocolate in the time period of the setting definitely marks her as an aristocrat used to a life of leisure and imported fineries. She has beautiful dresses to wear. None of this makes her evil. But the way the film gives her chocolate is supposed to make her feel like a Relatable Underdog, which... frankly, feels like gilding the lily. Anna's perky disney-standard songs come with some of the most heartbreaking lines. We see that she nearly gets killed in childhood and then loses her memory of the incident leaving her to an experience of extreme loneliness that creates a people pleaser who falls head-over-heels for the first person to actually make time for her and agree with her at all.
We don't need to hear her having the tee-hee indulgence that just like you, folks, she wants to stuff chocolate in her face!
(we also will not, incidentally, depict Anna as plus-sized even though for her time period and setting, her being built like a viking bride would both emphasize the various gags- and serious bits!- where she is obviously very strong, but would also make sense as culturally speaking the idea of thin as the ideal body is a recent innovation and Disney can afford to give body diversity to its heroines. Nor will we actually consistently depict Anna with a large appetite.)
She's so relatable, we see her waking up and her hair is gross and messy!
(we will not ever again see her in any sort of unglamorous look the entire film including while she's dying of a curse and her styles are just as fastidiously tidy as Elsa's, distinguished only by more severe lines on the latter... until she goes to her ice queen design)
So funny, she talks about being gassy in one scene!
(we will never depict her farting.)
And this is trivial stuff. There's one line about gassiness. This could be emphasizing not that the problem is fart joke but the problem is Anna has zero filters, which is fairly consistent throughout the film in both dramatic and comedic areas. I could say something a lot worse about the plot hole that Anna is clearly not meant to be a classist person (she does not treat Kristoff badly and he speaks freely to her early on) but the castle obviously has guards and servants... that somehow did not impact Anna's loneliness, even though their parents are dead and Elsa is obviously not sticking close enough to Anna to prevent her from being friends with them. To the point in For The First Time In Forever Anna is dancing actively around the servants but she isn't talking to them and they aren't reacting to her.
Doylistically, this is just because the servants are setpieces. This is vastly overthinking it and I'm not in their target audience. But I think this comes back to the same thing you're talking about, anon:
An awful lot of writers are very uncomfortable admitting their protagonists have any form of power or privilege that they might need to have a more complicated relationship with than just a "spoiled princess must be humbled" moral.
Even when it's a boring, mild form of power like "everyone does not hate me at school" or "I am allowed to sometimes be lucky"
