friendly reminder that george took ballet classes!!
#yes one of those is mine but i added to the conversation so I think i deserve it 😌💅#the detail in his character lowkey reminds me of Oscar Isaac in Moon Knight#because that's one of the only other times I've seen such precise control that the character feels like a different person than the actor#and mind you Oscar Isaac is a seasoned screen actor and George is fresh out of acting school???#can't wait to see where he ends up#also like I literally watch interviews and my brain struggles to believe that Edwin and his actor are the same person#i don't even know how to describe it he's just so incredibly skilled#dead boy detectives#dbda#edwin payne#george rexstrew

“i love you.” you smiled, legs crossed sitting in front of him. “i love you too, beautiful.” he leaned in, pecking your nose lightly.

˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ when gojo has a crush on geto's childhood best friend (pt. 2)

minors / ageless / blank blogs dni
ೃ⁀➷ notes: please read part one here. my baby boy is so sweet and sincere when he's love, even though it's doesn't always come across that way x
ೃ⁀➷ tags: angst and fluff; unrequited(ish) love; pining; hurt/comfort
♡ satoru gojo was not your type. he was cocky, arrogant, obnoxious, childish and a slew of other things that you found deeply unattractive in a man his age. he somehow always manages to take everything just a little too far for your liking. his extroverted persona a bit too overwhelming for you. suguru went on and on about him, but you really couldn't see the appeal. nor could you understand what drew suguru so deeply to him.
♡ okay, maybe he's just awkward, you think. after watching this tall, muscular man walk directly into a closed door mid-conversation. he banged his face so hard against it, he made a funny noise, and you had to suppress a laugh. "are you okay?" you asked concerned, and the man simply grumbled a yes as his cheeks turned a bright pink. it's the first time you saw him blush, and your heart fluttered at the sight.
♡ "look, I know he can be a lot, but you know he's my best friend. other than you, he's the only person I would give my life for," suguru stated honestly. you were both conversing over a tub of ice cream. you were sitting cross legged on the sofa, digging your spoon into the ice cream angrily. satoru made an inappropriate joke in front of everyone that humiliated you. you did not appreciate it one bit. you rolled your eyes and left in a bitter mood. suguru stopped by your place with the ice cream trying to console you.
♡ satoru's face visibly falls when you reject hanging out with him for a movie. two tickets in his hand that he pinches together. it was his way of apologizing apparently, but you were not going to entertain the idea of spending anytime alone with him. "look," you respond with a sigh, "I forgive you, okay? but I'm busy tonight.". it seems your follow up sparked something inside him. he lifts up his face, a small smile highlighting those annoyingly handsome features. "wait, so we are cool? you aren't mad about what I said?" he asks. you exhale, "yeah, we are cool."
♡ "I think you're being really hard on him," suguru stated casually. your cheeks burned with embarrassment. "the guy is obviously making an effort to get along with you, and you keep shutting him down". you stared at your best friend with accusing eyes. "why are you taking his side?" you replied with frustration. suguru gave you a knowing look. "I am not taking sides. but I will defend either of you if necessary." you reached for your arm and pinched it with slight shame. you didn't realize how difficult you were being. "just go easy on him," suguru added on. "if not for his sake, then at least for mine. I just want you guys to get along..."
♡ surprisingly, things started going really well with satoru after you began making the conscious effort to do so. you could even say that you both were starting to become friends. satoru revealed that he was actually quite smart when you both were alone together and not in front of a crowd. he's also insanely talented but downplayed himself quite frequently and nonchalantly. his confidence, his real confidence, about his talents and wits was always subdued. you wondered if the persona he puts on for people is to simply hide away this part of himself. your heart started to expand and contract tightly when you listened to him spitball on some random scientific fact mid-discussion. satoru's incessant chatter not so annoying to you after all. as a matter of fact, he actually had a really nice voice when he was speaking calmly. at one point, he smiled and mumbled that he needed to learn to shut up. he casually ran his long, slender fingers through his snowy hair and gave you a bashful glance. your heart pattered a little faster. he can be really cute when he wants to be.
♡ you're spending a lot more time alone with him. and it's nice. like really, really nice. he's bloomed into someone unexpected. someone that catches your eye in an entirely different way. you do eventually agree to watch a movie together. the two of you were snuggled close in the theatre, sharing a bowl of popcorn. at one point you both reached for the bucket at the same time, the warmth of satoru's touch grazing over your fingers and making your thighs tremble. "sorry," he whispered as he casually lifts his hand, but his hot breath fans your cheek. you gazed up to see that his face is quite close to yours, your eyes falling to his pretty lips then back up to the sparkling blues. "i-it's okay," you answer, taken aback by the proximity of him in your space. you fold your arms over your belly swimming with butterflies, suddenly too aware of your own emotions to eat anymore.
♡ you're falling for him, when did that start happening?
♡ oh. you like him. you like him more than you should. you haven't even told suguru about it and it's eating you up inside. you haven't even admitted it out loud to yourself and that makes you scared. but you can't stop looking at him. he looks so good in his outfit - dressed to kill, and capturing everyone's attention at the party. "who are you staring at?" shoko asks. you try to brush it off, but utahime points out the obvious. suddenly you're bombarded with questions, your words failing you as you try to give an explanation.
♡ they don't accuse you, but they are curious and their wonder spins into hundreds of questions. everyone knows that you didn't like satoru gojo. what suddenly changed?
♡ "satoru is really sweet, but...he's not my type..." you blurt out in an attempt to save yourself and to give yourself some space from the weight of your realization. but only then do you see the girl's expression drop as both their eyes look above your head.
♡ satoru looks back at you crestfallen, having clearly heard what you just said. no, you think, no no no.
♡ he tugs at his collar, "excuse me-" he states as he spins on his heel. you all watch him disappear, and you're suddenly standing there wishing that the ground will swallow you whole. suguru asks the girls to give you both some privacy. the two of you stand in silence for a bit, and you realize that your best friend is giving you a chance to catch your breath. "I have to go talk to him," you blurt out, a sense of panic in your eyes. suguru just smiles. he knows you so fucking well. he takes the drink from your hand and gestures towards the door with the tilt of his head.
♡ "satoru..." you call out quietly, finding him seated outside. he doesn't react like usual, just stares at the ground before clearing his throat. he wipes his hands on his thighs and stands upright, his broad shoulders slumping. he turns around to face you, and the expression makes your brows furrow with concern. "you don't have to say anything," he explains.
♡ he stands upright, slides both his hands in his pockets and exhales in defeat. "I think it's fairly obvious that I like you. But they're just feelings right? It'll go away. I don't want to keep bothering you or wasting your time..." "satoru..." you interrupt.
"you clearly don't feel the same way, and I-I don't want to come across as a creep or make you feel uncomfortable..." "satoru, please" you beg, taking a step closer. "look, it's fine..." he says with a big grin, his eyes glossy and making you ache. "I'm a big boy, I can take rejection..." "it's not fine," you murmur with a shake of your head. "I have clearly been forcing this, making up stories in my own head. I shouldn't...I shouldn't keep taking up your precious time..." he walks up two steps, ready to bypass you but you quickly loop your arm around his bicep and tug him back. "wait-" you stammer, and he halts. frozen, you gaze at each other in contemplation. your other hand reaches for his jaw, and his body stiffens against your touch. "just...wait..." you softly add on, trying to rationalize your own feelings and what this could all mean. you tilt your head up, your thumb outlining his jaw. your eyes fall to his parted lips, your own seeking him out. you kiss him sweetly, apologetically, affectionately.
satoru is stunned. his eyes fall hazy like he can't believe what just happened. he looks so cute that you can't help but smile, your thumb moves to swipe the lipstick over his bottom lip.
"I-..." he mumbles dreamily, slowly angling his body in your direction. he gulps down the raw hurt. "I thought I'm not your type..."
"you're not," you answer back cheekily, your arms moving to circle around his neck while his own hands find your hips. "but I think that's exactly why I like you. you're everything I didn't expect."
his forehead drops against yours as a wave of relief washes over him. "you like me?"
you nip at your bottom lip, teasing the tip of his nose with yours. "yeah," you answer a little breathlessly, before smiling into another kiss "I really do."
♡ when suguru wakes up the next morning, the first text he receives is from satoru. after you both disappeared from the party last night, he had to follow up.
suguru: let me guess, did you both kiss and make up? satoru: I just left her place, heading back to mine now. suguru: spare me any gross details please. satoru: I feel like I am dreaming. last night wasn't real suguru: pretty real, bud. so, don't fuck it up. satoru: just pinch me when you see me, alright? I need to make sure.

Alexia Putellas x Child!Reader
Jenni Hermoso x Child!Reader
Summary: Alexia tries to get her act together
For as long as she will ever live, Alexia will never forget her mother's face that day at Alba's door.
She will never forget the genuine horror on her mother's face even as she took control of the situation. She will never forget that night when Alba slammed her against the wall after the final of the Copa de la Reina. She will never forget the way you hid behind Jenni's legs after your ballet lesson.
It's all she thinks about even as she sits in the rocking chair with a sleeping Jaume in her arms.
"Ale?" Olga says sleepily," It's three in the morning. Come back to bed."
Alexia doesn't want to. She doesn't want to let Jaume go but she doesn't want to look at him either.
He was so perfect. His birth had been quick and easy unlike yours. Alexia had felt an instant connection to him, unlike when she suffered a bought of post-partum depression with you. He was so soft and so perfect and yet...
Alexia couldn't believe that she has pushed you away in favour of him.
She had a beautiful son and daughter. Two children, not one.
She thought having a sibling would be the best thing for you. She wanted to build a family with Olga. She never considered that she hadn't actually included you in that family.
"Alexia," Olga says, a bit more awake now," Come on. He's due for a feed soon. I'd like some sleep before that."
Mechanically, Alexia places her son back in his crib, wiping away some of the drool on his face as she allows Olga to lead her back to bed.
A sense of numbness follows her now and it's clear to everyone.
Word has spread amongst the team now about what has happened. They know the bare minimum, only that Alba took Bambi and that Jenni has dropped everything to fly across the world for you.
No one knows why, officially. It's clear that Mapi and Ingrid have informed a few team members. Paredes, in particular, cannot look Alexia in the eye anymore and some of the younger players are wary seeing that.
Her life is falling apart. She had no idea you were the linchpin holding it all together.
Olga lays next to her, head pillowed on Alexia's chest.
"You're so tense," She says," Relax. Everything's going to be fine."
Alexia scoffs. "Is it?"
Her question hangs in the air for several minutes. Neither of them speak. Neither of them move.
"Yes," Olga says eventually," You need to stay positive, Alexia. If not for yourself then for your daughter-"
"Your daughter?" Alexia echoes Olga's words perfectly," My daughter? Is she not ours?"
The silence is telling and Olga rolls over and away.
"Is she? Jaume is ours. y/n is yours."
Alexia sits up in bed, reaching over to flick a lamp on. This wasn't a conversation she could have in the dark.
"We have a son together. We're going to get married. In what world is Bambi just mine?!"
"In every world!" Olga sits up too. "She has always been yours, Alexia! I am just the woman her Mami is marrying! Nothing more, nothing less!"
"How can you say that?! We're making a family together! Bambi is included in that family!"
"Of course she is but when have I ever taken that role in her life?! You took her to football! You take her to ballet!"
"She stays home with you all day!" Alexia bites back, standing now until they're both yelling at each other over the bed. "You make her lunch! You keep her occupied!"
"And you do her baths and her bedtime routine! You do her morning routine too! God, Alexia, I am essentially her glorified babysitter! You have never once let me take over those things!"
"You didn't ask?! Olga, if you wanted to do that stuff just ask me!"
"And be rejected? No! You've never given any indication that I was even allowed to try!"
"Because I thought you didn't want to! Bambi has always been mine! Forgive me for not knowing how much to put on your plate. I was trying to make this transition easy!"
"An easy transition?! Alexia, I was pregnant! I was already thrown in the deep end! Adding a self-sufficient kid wouldn't have been much worse!"
They're both screaming at each other now and Jaume clearly hears the noise because he cries from down the hall.
Alexia takes a deep breath, eyes shutting briefly as she counts to ten to calm herself.
Olga goes to get Jaume, moving out the door.
"If we're going to get Bambi back," Alexia calls after her," Then we have to both want her!"
The forms about your ballet class lay on the kitchen table when Alexia gets up the next day. Things were frosty last night when Olga came back to bed with Jaume but they seemed to be looking up when Olga said that they would have a mature conversation about the Bambi situation when Alexia got home.
Alexia picks it up as she eats her breakfast, skimming through it. It's for an extra class on Thursday nights (five until seven) on top of your usual ones. Apparently, it's for those little kids that have real potential. As in, the potential to be great.
Alexia had been one of those kids but for football instead of ballet. She had excelled. She was one of the greatest in the world now all because her father saw the potential in her and signed her up for a team.
She had tried to do the same with you. She took you to the under-fives Barcelona team but it hadn't turned out how she want it to. The other children had left you in the dust. Alexia had hoped that it would be a one time thing, that the first session was a fluke.
You were already so different to her and even back then, she knew that when Jaume arrived things would be different.
She'd tried to get you into football so you would have something to bond over together, at least until Jaume was big enough to play with you.
But it wasn't meant to be and her Mama had insisted in signing you up for something else.
Originally, Alexia had planned on it being another team sport, desperate to have something at least similar to football that she could cling to.
Instead, her Mama had reminded her of last Christmas when the family went to go see the Nutcracker and how enamoured you had been.
Ale's Mama had pushed and pushed for ballet and Alexia was glad that she had.
The forms sat signed on the kitchen table as Alexia washed up her bowl and dialled a number on her phone.
"Hola, Mama," She says," It's about Bambi..."
It's after training that Alexia goes to see her Mama and sister. They meet up at Eli's house and all crowd around the kitchen table.
Jenni is there too and when Alexia asks who is looking after you, she's told that Mapi and Ingrid have taken you for ice cream.
"I don't like this," Alba mutters from where she's leaning against the wall. She's the only one not sat, arms crossed over her chest. "How do we know that she's not going to take Bambi home and neglect her again, huh?"
It's the hardest words Alexia has ever had to say but she pushes them out of her mouth. "I don't want you to give me Bambi back, not now at least."
"What do you mean, Alexia?" Her Mama asks.
"I...I have a lot of making up to do," Alexia admits," I broke her trust and that is not an easy thing to get back. If I want Bambi to come home then she has to want it to. I don't want her to be unhappy again."
"What are you saying?"
"Let me visit her, please. Let me earn back her trust, please."
Everyone knows Eli is in charge here. She is the head of the family and everyone defers to her on big decisions like this. This is a family matter. This is about her granddaughter's happiness and her daughter's peace of mind.
"Bambi is very fragile right now," Eli says quietly but the house is so silent everyone can hear her clearly," This is a serious matter, Alexia and if it was anyone else's daughter, child services will have already been called."
Alexia looks down at the table, the same table she would be scolded at when she was young.
"Your father would be ashamed of you." Eli's words are hard and biting and it's exactly what Alexia wants, even if it causes a sharp pain in her chest. "This is not how we raised you. That little girl is so beloved by everyone and what you have done...I love you, Ale, but it is unacceptable."
"I know, Mama. Please, let me make this right."
"Bambi coming home is her choice. It is not a when...it is an if. If I decide that you are doing more harm than good then there will be other actions we can take."
She looks at Jenni, who up until this point has been silent and Alexia's eyes dart to her too.
"Mama, what are you talking about?"
"Eli," Jenni says," She is trying. We don't need to-"
"Jenni still has adoption papers," Alba says from her corner of the room," All they're missing is your signature. Mama is saying that if this cannot be resolved and Bambi doesn't want to come home..."
She lets the idea hang in the air. She doesn't need to say it out loud. They all know what she means.
"It won't get that far," Jenni says, looking at Alexia for the first time since all of this became real," Bambi loves you."
Alexia pushes through the lump in her throat and the tears pricking in her eyes. "If I cannot make this better then she will have the best chance with you."
Jenni looks away first. "She has ballet on Saturday until one. We can do a visit then."
"Thank you."
Olga is sitting with Jaume when Alexia gets home. It's an almost perfect image. All it's missing is you at Olga's feet, playing with your trains.
She can imagine it, your trainsets spread all over the floor and your ballet bag left abandoned on a chair. You will smile when you see her and Alexia will litter your face with kisses before doing the same to Olga and Jaume.
It will be perfect, Alexia promises herself.
"Hey, little man," She coos to her son, hefting him up into her arms and pressing a kiss to his forehead.
Jaume giggles at the affection, lips smacking together as his hand whips out to grab at Alexia's nose curiously. He's been a little fussy recently and extremely sensitive to changes in light but he seems a little happier now.
"That's my nose," Alexia says. She wiggles it. "Is it really funny? Huh? Is my nose funny?"
"Jaume seems to think so." Olga rises from the sofa and pecks Alexia's lips. "How was your mother?"
"Helpful."
"And Alba?"
"She was...Alba."
"And Jenni?"
"How did you-?"
"I am not blind or deaf, Ale. Your team gossips. Jenni has comes back to Spain for y/n."
"Amor-"
"I'm not threatened," Olga laughs," You broke up for a reason but even I know that a meeting of y/n would involve her. How was it? What did they say?"
Alexia manages a smile. "I can see her on Saturday, after ballet. There's a place where you can paint pottery nearby. I think I'll take her there."
"That's nice," Olga says.
"I..." Alexia's been floating in a happy bubble ever since she started to drive home. She doesn't want to ruin it but she has to know. "Did you have a think about what we talked about?"
Olga sighs. "I love Jaume," She says after several beats of quiet," Because he is mine, yes, but mostly because he is yours as well. And I love you so much."
Alexia doesn't like where this is going. "And Bambi?"
"I'm sorry, Ale, but I do not love y/n but...I think I could learn to because she is so much like you and I love you. I do not know y/n like I know you and Jaume. I want to though. I want her home with us so I can love her like I love Jaume. I am sorry if it is not what you want to hear but it is my truth and I hope that is enough."
Tears fall down Alexia's cheeks.
"It's enough. It's enough, amor."
Alexia spends all week waiting for Saturday. There are matches to prepare for and media commitments to do but you're all she can think about.
She wonders if she should bring you a new train to mark the occasion but the model train store has finally shut down and Alexia cannot get one for you in time.
Next time though, she promises herself that she'll got you a new train for your collection. Her palms are sweaty and she's nervous when she spots you and Jenni walking down the street hand-in-hand.
You're still in your ballet clothes but you've got one of Jennie's jackets on and it's dragging on the ground behind you because it's too big. Your hair is still done up in a bun and a few wisps fall down to frame your face.
"Bambi," Alexia says, suddenly breathless when you look up at her.
"Hola, Mami," You reply, ducking a little bit behind Jenni as you greet her.
"Your Mami and you are going to paint some pottery," Jenni says," And I'll be right here to pick you up when you're done."
"You won't be late?"
"Of course I won't be! You're my most favourite little girl in the whole wide world! I'd never be late to pick you up!"
You smile and giggle when Jenni peppers kisses all over your face before gently moving you towards Alexia.
"Hola, Mami," You say again.
Alexia smiles and takes your hand. "Hola, Bambi."
You look very nervous and your hand is unusually warm in Alexia's, though she puts that down to you coming straight from ballet.
There's a big wall where you can choose what to make. Alexia gets a mug and, unsurprisingly, you want the train. It's at the very top of the shelf and you can't reach and you don't want Mami to get upset at you for asking when you could easily get something that's closer to your height.
But Alexia notices.
She's making sure to pay a lot of attention to you now. To the way that your ballet pumps are wearing a bit at the soles and the way you play with the sleeves of Jenni's jacket.
"Do you want the train, Bambi?" She asks," Do you want me to pick you up so you can grab it? Can I touch you?"
You nervously nod and Alexia pretends to not notice the way that you don't breath until you're safely back on the ground.
The little shop is quaint and fairly quiet and Alexia lets you choose the table at the very back.
Very gently, she telegraphs her every move to you as she rolls up the sleeves of Jenni's jacket so you don't get paint on it.
You're both quiet as you paint.
Your little tongue is stuck out in concentration as you dip your paintbrush into the paint and move it to cover your train.
"You moved up in ballet," Alexia says eventually," How was that?"
"Was good," Is the response from your tiny voice," It is harder now but still fun." You blink a few times as the overhead light buzzes and you scratch at you neck. It's been a little itchy since you last saw Mami and you don't like.
You haven't told anyone because you're scared they're going to get angry at you. You're a big girl now. Big girl don't complain about something as silly as itchy skin.
"I'm very proud of you," Alexia says," And I'm glad that you're enjoying ballet so much."
Your watery little smile back makes Alexia nearly cry herself. "Really, Mami?"
"Of course. I am so proud of my Bambi. You make me proud everyday."
"Are you sure, Mami?"
"Yes. I am very proud of you."
You sniffle a little and duck your head back down to continue painting. It hurts to move your head though. It's all stiff and tight so you have to hold it at an odd angle so you don't cry - though you're not sure if it's because of the pain or the fact that Mami is acting like this is the Before.
The Mami from the Before never got angry when you asked silly questions. The Mama from the Now got angry at you once when you asked a silly questions when Jaume was crying.
You hope that this Mami won't be mad because you ask a silly question.
"Mami," You ask softly, the memory plaguing you ever since your Jenni returned to you," Jenni says she wanted me when I was little. Did you want me?"
Whatever bubble Alexia was in before pops and it's like icy cold water has been dumped on her.
"What do you mean, Bambi?"
"You and Miss Olga wanted Jaume," You say," And my Jenni says she wanted me. Did you want me too?"
"Bambi..." Alexia doesn't want to think about those first few months of having you. The post-partum depression had hit hard and Alexia could do little but deal with yours and hers basic needs.
She had loved you and resented you all at the same time and the guilt had weighed on her for months.
"I always want you."
You shake your head before wincing and returning your head back to its awkward resting position. "But did you want me then? When I was little like Baby Jaume and when I was in your belly?"
Alexia moves from her chair to kneel in front of you. Her hand comes up to cradle you. Either her hands are big or your face is tiny because they cover your entire cheek.
"I love you," Alexia says," You're my Bambi and I've always loved you."
"But did you want me?"
"Bambi..."
"Mami...Mami, I..."
Alexia doesn't want to lie but she also doesn't want to tell you either. There were moments, that first week she found out she was pregnant when she didn't want you. She hadn't been overjoyed at the prospective of you. She hadn't wanted her career to be derailed by something as silly as a child.
She doesn't want to tell you the truth because she knows that it will be damaging to you. You're not old enough to be told things like this. You're not mature enough to be told this kind of information and not have it linger and fester within you for years.
But Alexia's always valued honesty. She doesn't like lying but she had lied to you all your life. She doesn't want to lie again now even if it's about something like this. Adults cannot fault other adults for telling their truth but you are neither an adult nor can you understand what this means for you.
"I want you now," Alexia says instead," I want you when I go to bed every night. I want you when I wake up every morning. I want you when I score a goal and when I win trophies. I want you, Bambi."
You sniffle and scratch more insistently at your skin, your wrists this time.
"I miss you sometimes, Mami," You say," But coming back to your house is scary."
"Thank you for being honest, Bambi. You don't have to come home if you don't want to." Alexia forces down tears. "When I next see you, we should go and see Abuela and we'll explain things to you, okay?"
"Okay, Mami."
"Is your train done?"
Your train actually is done so Mami gives it and her mug to the lady who works there to finish off and you both walk outside.
"They should be done in a few days," Mami tells you," And then when I next see you, I'll give you your new train."
"Okay, Mami." Her hand is in yours and you think that is enough for today, pulling your hand away as Jenni turns the corner and lets you run to her.
"Hey," She laughs, swinging you up into her arms," How did it go? Was it fun?"
You don't answer, burying your face into Jenni's neck.
"I..." Alexia says," I think next time when should go to my Mama's...Conversations are...difficult sometimes."
Jenni nods. "I see," She says," Next week, maybe?"
The words are complete autopilot. Alexia hates what she's said the moment they're out of her mouth but they're completely out of habit and she doesn't even think before she speaks.
"We'll see," She says," I'll have to check my schedule." She clamps her mouth shut the moment she says them. "I mean- No, I meant-"
You look resigned, like you are so used to this that it barely effects you but Jenni looks furious. She hefts you up higher in her arms.
"Say goodbye to your Mami, Bambi."
"Bye, Mami."
"Hey...Wait, no, Jenni. I didn't mean-"
"Bambi needs to have a nap," Jenni says," She takes one right after ballet. We changed her schedule for painting today. I should get her home."
Alexia wilts, slouching her shoulders and curling in on herself. "Adios, Bambi. I love you!"
Jenni is already walking around and you don't offer your own I love you in return.
Jenni's steady steps feel nice as she walks you back to Tia Alba's. Your itchiness increases and you scratch more harshly at your neck.
"Ma-Jenni?"
"Yes, Bambi?"
"Can we have cuddles tonight?"
"Of course we can. I love cuddles with my favourite little girl. Are we having them on the sofa after bathtime or in bed together?"
Before Ma-Jenni came home, you slept with your Tia Alba. Now you sleep in the same bed as Ma-Jenni. She's big and strong and she holds you just right. She doesn't let you go the whole night. You go to sleep in her arms and you wake up in her arms.
"Bed cuddles please."
"I love bed cuddles."
You grin. "I love bed cuddles too!"
You scratch at your neck again and Jenni gently pulls your hand away. She frowns, swiping at your skin with her thumb a few times.
"You've got a bit of a rash there, Bambi," She says," We'll have to keep an eye on that."

Shooting Stars
A rewrite of March's shooting star festival cutscene. I kept his dialogue, because I think it's such a good insight to his character, but I added to it in a way that I'm pretty proud of! I hope you enjoy!
March x Reader
Word Count: 3k
Tags: Slight angst, fluff, idiots in love, oblivious flirting, emotional constipation, light swearing
Last night, you dreamed of stars.
It was all everyone was talking about for the past few days. Friday night at the inn, Nora and Holt each had their own stories of their first shooting star festival spent together. At the Saturday market, Vera lamented not being in Mistria for the festival (apparently, it’s the best view) as she cut your hair. And today, Elsie stopped by your house to hand deliver a brooch — traditionally used to invite a ‘special someone.’
You turn the brooch over in your hand. It’s shaped like a star, with crystal beads dangling down. “It’s beautiful,” You comment softly. “If I invite someone… does it have to be romantic?”
Elsie pauses. It’s likely that she’s never had to consider the festival as anything other than romantic. “Hmm, I suppose it doesn’t. But a night alone, underneath the stars, destinies intertwined; would you rather spend it with a friend, or a partner?”
The conspiratory wink she sends only twists your insides. When you moved to Mistria, romance wasn’t on your mind. It wasn’t something you’d thought about until no one could talk about anything else. “I just don’t think anyone would want to spend the festival with me in that sense.”
She laughs, and for a moment, you wonder how Juniper snuck her way into the conversation. It’s similar; high pitched, snooty, but it’s different in the way she’s laughing with you rather than at you. “Oh, Darling,” She chuckles, waving her hand, only stopping when she sees the confusion on your face. “Oh, you’re serious? Darling, have you truly not noticed — you know what, I’m sure you already have someone in mind.” She chuckles again, taking your hand and closing your fingers over the brooch. “Just invite him, and have fun. It’s such a special night, no matter who you spend it with.”
Elsie parts with a quick peck on both sides of your cheeks, leaving you with the brooch and your own thoughts.
~~~
Five points dig into the palm of your hand, guiding you on your walk to the mines. That’s where Ryis said they would be.
“Hey!” Olric spots you first, waving cheerfully as you approach. “You want to go mining with us? March thought we’d be able to get some extra copper before the festival.”
Normally, you would say yes. But your nerves were already telling you to get as far away as possible, and working in the mines with the source of those nerves was mortifying. “Actually, I wanted to talk to March. Can I steal you for a second?”
You don’t know why the thought of asking him is getting you so worked up. When Elsie gave you the brooch, he was the first person to come to mind, and it didn’t bother you. And then she started talking about her past partners to the festival, and intertwined destinies, and now all you want to do is chuck the brooch in the river and pass out in the mines again. It took a few dips in the pond looking for artifacts — and then a shower — to get out of your own head. And then the walk through town and the narrows brought all those worries back. What if he thought it was romantic? What would you say?
March stands in front of you at the old flower bed, his hands stuffed in his pockets, as Olric preoccupies himself with double checking their rucksacks for everything they need by the mine entrance. “What do you want?” His brusk question somehow manages to quell your nerves.
You hold out your hand, revealing the brooch. “Elsie gave this to me this morning, she said it’s a part of a tradition, or something,” You begin, digging your shoe in the dirt path. “You can say no, I won’t take it personally. I just thought it would be fun. As friends, obviously.”
When you finally manage to look at him, March is staring down at the brooch with a look of pure bewilderment. His eye twitches slightly as he glances up at you, trying to read your expression for something, then back at the brooch. He seems to register that you’re no longer talking, and he flushes, his shoulders tensing as he looks away with pinched features. “Fine. Olric will just badger me about it if I say no.”
“You don’t have to—”
“I said yes, didn’t I?” He snaps, glaring at you, his cheeks only getting redder.
You can’t help but smile, only seeming to fluster him more. “Cool. I’ll see you later, then.”
“Be at the summit at eight. Don’t be late, I won’t wait up for you,” He grumbles, finally snatching the brooch from your hand and stuffing it in his pocket. Before you can respond, he turns on his heel, stalking away with his head down. You watch as he reaches Olric, who grins and claps him on the shoulder with a thumbs up, earning a snapped response from March that you can’t hear as they disappear into the mine’s entrance.
~~~
When you walk through the clearing to the summit at eight on the dot, you find March already there. “Hey.” His greeting is shorter than usual. He only glances at you for a second, returning his focus to the two paper cups in his hand before thrusting one at you. “It will get cold. I figured you wouldn’t dress for the weather.”
You laugh as you take the cup, the warmth in your hand blooming as your fingers brush against his. “You’re literally wearing a tank top.”
“I’m used to it,” He snaps softly.
With a snort, you shake your head, approaching the setup of blankets and pillows. “Wow. I can’t believe I missed this last year.” The sun is setting, painting the sky orange and pink. You’ve been on the summit before, but something about tonight fills you with a new wonder.
“You… missed the festival?” He was about to sit down when your words gave him pause, an unreadable expression passing over his face.
“I was working.” You pass the blanket, looking over the edge. “I wanted to get to the next mineshaft stop in the mines and lost track of time. I passed out down there, actually. Valen chewed me out the next morning for making her work on her birthday. Oh! I have some dried tea leaves and flowers, I could make her her own bag of loose leaf tomorrow—”
March interrupts your musing. “I’d rather you not fall off the cliff, would you come sit down already?”
The sun sets as you both sit on a star-shaped pillow, and after a while of sipping your drinks in silence, the first shooting star streaks across the sky. And then, another follows. And another.
You’re entranced by the show when March speaks. “Well, here we are. Up on the summit… watching the stars.” His voice sours, and you turn to see him looking up at the sky with a grimace.
He was having a bad time already? Your awe subsides, and you sigh. “Yup.” You take another sip of hot chocolate. “So, uh, did you watch the stars with your family when you were younger?”
“My… family?” He pauses. “Olric and I didn’t have time for that kind of thing growing up.”
You glance back over at him to find him staring down at his drink. “Me neither. My parents—”
“Can we talk about something else?”
There isn’t malice in his tone as he interrupts you, but the urgency drops a pit in your stomach. “Yeah, of course,” You answer, wracking your brain for something else. “The stars are beautiful, aren’t they?”
His grip tightens on his cup. You let out a sigh, pulling your knees to your chest and resigning yourself to a silent night when he suddenly stands, glaring down at you with an intensity you haven’t seen since first moving to Mistria. “Why did you really invite me here, anyway?” March demands. “To press my buttons? As some kind of… joke?”
“A joke? What the hell are you talking about?” He only tenses more as your brow furrows. “I invited you because I like you!”
“You… what?” Confusion takes over for a moment before the anger and frustration returns. “Quit messing around. If you want to watch the stars, let’s watch the stars.”
“No!” You pull yourself to your feet, now glaring at him as March stares at you in shock. “You really think I invited you as a joke? What’s the joke, then? Explain it to me, because I have no idea.” He only sets his jaw, not taking the bait as you clench your fists at your sides. “I invited you because I thought it would be fun, because I thought we were finally at a place where you didn’t hate me just for moving here, but I guess I was wrong. You didn’t have to accept my invitation, March. So either get over yourself, or get out of here. I’m not letting you ruin this festival for me.” You sit back down, stubbornly staring at the sky to avoid looking at March, who you can see standing frozen in the corner of your eye.
You expect him to scoff and stomp away, grumbling under his breath about how annoying you are. You expect him to accuse you of something else, or to lob another insult your way in retaliation for the ‘get over yourself’ comment. You don’t expect him to sit back down begrudgingly, not that you could celebrate it as a win even if you wanted to, which you don’t, because you’re still pissed off at his little temper tantrum. “The stars… do look pretty from up here.” March finally breaks the silence, his voice strained. “I didn’t realize they would be so clear.”
You scoff. “How did you not know what it would be like? Did you miss last year’s festival, too?”
“I… was working.”
A sudden snort escapes you, breaking the wall of frustration you had put up. “Now you’re making fun of me.”
“I’m not.” March rolls his eyes, but you can see the hint of a smile — or a smirk, more likely — playing at his lips. “You can see the stars any time. Why would I waste an entire night staring up at the same boring sky when I could be doing something productive with my time?” He shrugs. “That was my plan for tonight, but… we’re all caught up on our orders for this week, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to take a night off.”
You don’t know what it is about him. Maybe it’s that despite his initial coldness to you, you knew it was from a genuine care for his home. Maybe it’s the way you can see the pressure he puts himself under, the standards he holds himself to, and you know his attitude is less about you and more about himself. Whatever it is, it never fails to roll the passive aggressive comments off your back as soon as he makes an effort to be nice.
That doesn’t mean you’re not going to still give him shit about it. “And then you were an asshole.”
He snorts, scratching the back of his head with a small frown. “Yeah, pretty much.” It’s not an apology, but you don’t feel like pushing it. “It almost feels like they’re drawing you in, doesn’t it?” It does. Not only are you drawn into the stars, but you also feel drawn to the person next to you. Two stars shoot across the sky, as though bound together. It isn’t until they disappear that you remember to blink.
Despite the distance between you, a sense of warmth leaves when March eventually stands. “It’s getting pretty late,” He announces, holding his hand out to you. “Come on, I’ll walk you back to the farm. If you fall and hurt yourself in the dark, I know I won’t hear the end of it.”
You laugh and take his hand, that warmth returning as he helps you up. “Please, I could make the way back blindfolded if I had to. Let’s test it, do you have your headband on you?”
“Unless you want to make Valen work on her birthday for the second year in a row, you can endanger yourself as a party trick another time.”
“Promise? It’s a good party trick.” He looks away as you grin, and you can see his cheeks flush under the light of the moon.
~~~
“Watch your step, a bit of the decking is uneven after the storm last week,” You warn. “I mentioned it to Adeline and Ryis, they said they’d get on it this week as soon as they got the supplies.”
“So you’re the reason I had to complete another nail order.” March steps over a splintered piece of wood.
You roll your eyes. “I’ll put in an order for something more ‘worthy’ of your talents to make up for it. How about a spoon?”
“Cute.”
“Careful, I might start thinking you actually like me.” He stumbles over another part of the decking that had lifted, causing you to laugh. “Don’t fall and hurt yourself in the dark, March, I won’t hear the end of it.”
“Shut up.”
“That’s more like it.” You continue walking, him grumbling after you. Another shooting star overheard gives you pause, remembering something important. “I never saw a shooting star as a kid. For the longest time, I thought they were fake. Just some lie to tell kids so they’d believe in wishes, y’know?” You slow down, electing to walk past the shorter path through the edge of town to walk around Sweetwater Farm instead. “The first time I saw one, it was my third season as an adventurer. I wished for a family. And when the missive to move in here came, it came true. Everyone took me in. They made me feel welcome, like they wanted me here. Except you. That’s why I invited you.”
You don’t have to look at him to know the confused sneer painting his face. “You invited me because… I was mean to you when you moved in?”
“Everyone was so hopeful about me getting the town rank back up,” You continue. “I love everyone here, and I was so grateful, but it was a lot of pressure. I felt like I had to live up to everyone’s expectations. But you… you didn’t have any expectations of me — except that I wouldn’t last, but that was fine. For some reason, it helped. You already assumed the worst of me, so I didn’t have to be the best. I can be myself around you. Does that make sense?”
When you turn to look at him, he’s staring at the ground in contemplation as he walks with you. “... Yeah, actually. It does.” You continue on in a much more comfortable silence than the summit, the frogs croaking and the wind whistling through the trees speaking for you. Eventually, you get to the farm. “Woah.” March blinks, shock painting his features as he takes it in.
You scoff. “I know, don’t start with me. Between crops, animals, the mines, the request board, and Adeline’s projects, I don’t have time to clean up. Once winter comes around, I can focus more on making it look presentable.”
“That’s not—” March shakes his head. “You don’t have time for decorating, but you have time for bothering me?”
“Oh, I make time to bother you. It’s one of the highlights of my day.” You grin at him as you reach your door. “Thanks for walking me back. I’ll come by to put in my spoon order tomorrow.”
“I’m not making you a spoon.”
“I guess I’ll just keep eating with my hands, then.” The disgusted grimace on March’s face causes laughter to bubble out of you. “See? Best part of my day, right there. Goodnight, March.”
He rolls his eyes again, his face turning red as he turns and walks away. “Night,” He calls out, not looking back.
Your smile stays the rest of the night as you get ready for bed, and that night, you dream of stars.
~~~
The next morning, after dropping off Valen’s birthday gift, you stop by the blacksmith’s. March lifts his head, nodding in greeting before returning to whatever he’s working on at his desk. “I’m going to the mines, are you low on any ore? I can bring some by later.”
“We’re fine.” The response is immediate, he doesn’t give it any thought. Typical. “Since you’re not busy, there’s a notebook in my room. It’s on my shelf.”
“Good for you.” He shoots you an unimpressed look, but you’re already on your way to his door. “You know, it doesn’t hurt to throw in a ‘please’ every once in a while,” you comment as you step inside his room. It’s neat, with a potted plant in the corner and a small watering can. At the far end of the room, a tall shelf is lined with frames and trophies from various blacksmithing competitions. It doesn’t surprise you to see how many read ‘first place.’ You find his notebook quickly, and turn to leave the room when something catches your eye. Two shelves above, near the most recent trophy, sits a star-shaped brooch with crystal beads. You clutch the notebook tightly. You had expected March to just throw the brooch in a chest somewhere, not… keep it on a shelf of his achievements.
To avoid dwelling on it for too long, you go back to his desk and hand him the notebook. Luckily, he doesn’t ask what took you so long. “I was told that I should thank you for last night, so… thanks,” March sighs, pausing from his work to look up at you. “Just don’t let it go to your head.” He smirks, causing you to roll your eyes.
Still, you can't help but smile. “I’ll try my best. See you later, March. I want my spoon by the end of the week." It's his turn to roll his eyes as you wink and continue your way to the mines.

Friday morning, a packaged set of cutlery sits in your mailbox.

Mine (m.c.)
Fandom/Characters: Chicago Fire - Matt Casey x Fem!Reader, Sylvie Brett, Stella Kidd, Kelly Severide, Blake Gallo, Wallace Boden, Christopher Herrmann, Joe Cruz, Darren Ritter
Word Count: 3.5k
Summary: You and Matt Casey had been secretly dating for a while, and it had gone smoothly since you worked at different firehouses. However, you were offered a job at 51 which despite seeming like a great idea, only made everything complicated.
Warnings: hurt/comfort, a bit of angst, a bunch of fluff, pet names, mention of anxiety, protective matt, kissing, happy ending
a/n: my first fic!!!!! (on tumblr that is lol) i used to write a lot on another platforms but haven't written for fun in forever (other than for school, ew lol.) so i might be a bit rusty so just yk excuse that until i get back into my flow :) anyways i hope you guys like it <3
For the last three years, you've been working as a paramedic at Firehouse 20 alongside Violet Mikami. During that time, you've come to know Blake Gallo as a result of his on-and-off relationship with her. Although he's a great guy, what made him even greater is the person he introduced you to about a year ago— your boyfriend, Captain Matthew Casey of Firehouse 51.
Where could you possibly start? His mesmerizing, smile and his charming personality drew you in in an instant. You never realized how the occasional encounters, transformed into intimate late-night conversations. And before you knew it, those late-night talks grew into romantic dinners and memorable dates.
After months of both of you dancing around one another, he finally masked up the courage to ask you to be his girlfriend. Without a moment's hesitation, you instantly said yes.
Six months have passed since then. Both of you had mutually decided to keep it private for some time in order to prevent any interference with your jobs. The only individuals who had known were your respective Chiefs, just in case something happened.
Your Chief also knew you could handle a busier station such as 51. So, he had just offered you the vacant paramedic position that was left after Foster left for Med School.
Initially, you were excited about the offer because it meant working with your boyfriend. However, now you're uncertain about accepting it as you're not sure how he’d react. While you believe he'd be as thrilled as you are, there's this nagging feeling that it would complicate things.
So you decided to call him.
"Hey Matt," You said once he picked up.
"Hi babe, everything okay? You rarely call me during shift." He replied, voice laced with concern.
"Yeah, yeah, everything's fine." You assure him before nervously adding, "It's just... I have something to run by you...”
"Go ahead sweetheart, what's up?"
"You know how Foster left and ever since then there's been an open paramedic spot at 51 for a while now?"
He hums encouraging you to continue.
"Well, my Chief spoke to Boden and they both agreed that I could fill that spot if I wanted to."
"That's fantastic news!" He said excitedly. "Do you want to?"
You sighed. "I do want to. I think it would be nice to work with you and the experience of working at a busier station? That would benefit me, by a lot. I’d be able to learn so much."
"Then what's there to run by me? This is your decision Y/N." Matt questioned.
"It's your house! I don't want to interfere with the little family you all have built and make things complicated considering we'd be working together while dating and what if they take it the wrong way thinking I only got the spot because I'm with you-"
"Hey! Y/N, sweetheart, breathe." He says cutting off your rambling, trying to calm you down.
"What?" you ask, voice exasperated.
"Baby, no one's going to think anything like that. You're an amazing paramedic and you earned your spot because you're good at your job. Also, no one knows that we're together so they won't suspect a thing. We don't even have to tell them yet if you don't want to.” He said reassuringly before continuing, “And you wouldn't be interfering with anything, I can assure you that we'd all love to have you at 51. This is completely your choice though, so whether you want to transfer over here or not, you have my full support, regardless of what you decide."
You smile at Matt's words. "Thank you." You pause for a moment before resuming happily, "Okay I'm going to go tell Chief that I'm accepting the position! I'll talk to you later Matt."
"That's my girl." He says smiling before hanging up.
You swiftly head to your Chief's office and let him know that you completed the transfer paperwork and are ready to begin at 51 as soon as possible. He nods, smiling, and assures you that he will push the request forward.
It was now Monday. Which also happened to be the same day you started your first shift as the new paramedic of Firehouse 51.
God were you nervous.
You had spoken to Matt multiple times and he continuously reassured you that you had no reason to feel anxious because everyone would adore you. So why were you still panicking?
Matt liked you, Gallo liked you, and so did Boden after the short interview you two had.
You had also heard a lot about each of them through Matt, and they all sounded like wonderful people. So the odds of your new coworkers welcoming you with open arms were pretty high.
Yet despite your best efforts, you couldn't shake the feeling of anxiety that was coursing through your veins, leaving you a nervous wreck.
You let out a sigh, trying to calm your nerves as you approached the Firehouse. You bumped into Gallo on the way which instantly relieved your worries. Seeing a familiar face put your mind at ease, melting your fears away, even if it’s only for a moment.
The two of you engaged in an easy conversation as you walked into the building together.
Upon entering, you spotted a table near the rigs with several individuals seated around it. Gallo eagerly ushered you towards them, quickly introducing everyone.
"Squad, this is Y/N Y/L/N, our new paramedic!" He said as you smiled, waving at them.
Gallo then pointed at a tan, blue-eyed man who was sitting at the head of the table. "That's Lieutenant Kelly Severide. Head of Squad and those are his Squad members."
He quickly got up and shook your hand. "Nice to meet you Y/L/N."
You recognized him now. He was Matt's best friend, they'd been through thick and thin together. It was sweet actually, finally getting to put a face to the name you've been hearing so much about.
Gallo took his time introducing you to the other members of Squad, all of whom greeted you with kindness and respect.
As he slipped into conversation with them, you took the opportunity to excuse yourself and find your partner, Sylvie Brett, who you’d be spending most of your time with.
She stood out easily, being one of only two women in the house. You spotted her in the kitchen, chatting with another girl who you figured must be Stella, Severide's girlfriend. Matt had spoken to you about how amazing they were as a couple, and it always made you happy to hear about them. With a deep breath, you made your way over to them.
"Hi!" You smiled. "I'm the new paramedic here working with... Sylvie Brett?" You ask unsurly, turning your head to glance at the blonde hoping you're right.
"Yes, that's me! Hi!" She answered enthusiastically, hugging you. Matt had mentioned how sweet she was but the embrace still caught you by surprise. Regardless, you hugged her back, accepting the kind gesture. Once you pulled away you waved at the other woman who smiled back at you, introducing herself as Stella Kidd.
After conversing with them for some time and getting to know one another, you headed off to the officer quarters with the hope of seeing your boyfriend.
Once you approached the office that was referred to Matt Casey, you knocked.
"Come in." You heard so you stepped inside, closing the door behind you.
"Hi baby," You said, smiling at him. He looked up from his desk, features softening as he noticed you.
"How's my favorite girl doing?" He asked standing up to give you a brief kiss on the cheek.
"I'm great! Everyone here is so nice and fun to talk to. They've all been so welcoming." You answered excitedly.
"See, I told you everyone would love you. What's there not to?" He asked rhetorically, making you smile as he placed his hands on your waist pulling you in closer. Matt's inability to keep his hands to himself never fails to make you laugh. It was all quickly forgotten though when he drew you in for a more passionate kiss when he noticed that there weren't any prying eyes on you.
As time passed, days turned into weeks, and before you knew it, you had seamlessly become a part of them. Each member of the group welcomed you with open arms, and it felt like you had found your place within the close-knit family they had formed at 51. It seemed like you had found a lasting bond and a sense of belonging with everyone there, envisioning a permanent future among them.
You became good friends with Sylvie and Stella, established a nice mentorship with Hermann, and created a sibling-like bond with Severide.
Most importantly though, to your knowledge, no one had suspected your relationship with Matt.
You wanted to say something, you really did. You didn't want him to think you were ashamed of being with him. But you didn't want the people you had grown so close to to think that you were only offered the position because of your relationship with him; even if you were confident that they weren't the type of people to believe that.
It was an ordinary day. You and Sylvie had just returned from responding to a call— nothing too serious, just tending to a man who had been cut by a broken mirror. Together with Sylvie, you bandaged him up and sent him to Med for stitches, wishing him a speedy recovery.
You were restocking the ambulance when Sylvie spoke up, "So, did you see the way that guy looked at you?"
You almost choked on your spit at her statement, not expecting it. "How did he look at me?"
"Oh c'mon- there were literally hearts in his eyes every time you spoke up while bandaging him!" She exclaimed a bit too loudly making you shush her.
"Who had hearts in his eyes?" Matt chimed in as he walked up to you and Brett, joining your conversation.
"No one," You say brushing him off but Sylvie interjects. "This guy we were helping earlier, he totally had the hots for our new paramedic over here." She said, nudging you with her arm in a teasing manner.
"Oh, did he?" Matt asked in a tone that sounded like he was joking but you could see the way his body tensed.
"It's whatever, nothing serious. It's not like I'm going to go on a date with him." You roll your eyes trying to dismiss the situation.
"You should!" Sylvie replies happily, "You're pretty and single. He wasn't bad on the eyes either, if you know what I mean. Go have some fun girl! Who knows, he could be the love of your life." She adds, winking.
Matt gave a half-hearted smile and walked away without acknowledging Brett, leaving her looking up in confusion. "What was that about?" She asked.
"No idea," You say shortly, despite knowing exactly what was going on.
Matthew Casey was jealous.
It was quite surprising because he had never shown signs of being the jealous type. In the past, if another man approached you in his presence, he would politely ask them to leave you alone, making it clear that you were already taken. Or he’d simply put his arm around you in a protective, not-so-friendly manner, letting everyone know that you were his. It never bothered you. You found it cute, actually.
But this? This was different. He had never acted this way, which concerned you.
After you were done restocking the ambo you made your way to his office, hoping to ease the tension.
You sighed as you knocked, hearing a quick come-in before stepping inside. You noticed he had his head buried in paperwork, not even acknowledging you as you came in.
"Matt, honey, what's wrong?" You asked, worried when he still didn't look up at you. You waited for a moment before continuing once he didn't reply, "Baby talk to me."
He sighs before finally looking into your eyes. His ocean blues never failed to make you weak in the knees. So intimidating but beautiful nevertheless.
"I don't want to keep this a secret any longer." He eventually replied, motioning between the two of you.
"I don't want to either but you know we can't."
"Why can't we?" He said, tone a bit sharp, causing you to flinch for a second.
"Because-" you were cut off by a knock on Matt's door making you straighten up.
"Sorry to interrupt, but there's someone here to see you Y/N." Said Severide as he poked his head into Casey's office letting you know before heading out.
You quickly glance at Matt sighing before leaving his office, silently apologizing. You hated leaving mid conversation but this could be important. You noticed him trailing behind you as you walked out but chose not to comment on it.
Once you were outside, you recognized him as the man you had sent to Med earlier. The same man who had 'the hots' for you apparently, according to Brett.
This was going to be a long conversation.
"Hello!" He said, way too ecstatic for someone who had just been discharged from a hospital.
"Hi there, how are you feeling?" You asked, keeping the conversation polite.
"Better thanks to you, you saved my life."
"Oh, you know, no big deal! Just doing my job."
"Well, I was hoping to take you out on a date as a way of saying thank you." He said with confidence, catching you off guard.
"I'm very flattered sir but you don't need to thank me, let alone take me out on a date. I'm happy to help, love what I do." You say, hoping that gets rid of him.
By now, you were fully aware that most of the members of the firehouse were watching the interaction occur from behind you. Hence why you were aiming to wrap it up as soon as possible.
"No, no, I insist. We'll have a great time together!" He pushes.
"Like I said, thanks for the offer but I'm going to have to decline. Feel better." You say, turning around.
Before you had a chance to walk away, he grabbed your wrist harshly. Pulling you backward, making you lose your balance, and almost causing you to fall.
"Woah woah woah-" "Back off!" You hear the men hurriedly interject pushing him away from you before Matt yells, in a tone that sends shivers down your spine. "Get your hands off of my paramedic before I call the authorities. You have no right to touch her, especially after she said no."
Boden hears the commotion and steps out of his office. "What's going on over here?"
"This man put his hands on Y/N after she rejected him Chief. He was just leaving though weren't, you?" Matt replies, glaring at the man making him quickly walk away.
The second that he was out of sight, everyone turned to you. Stella speaks up, "Are you okay?"
"Don't worry guys, I'm fine." You say looking around at all of them, reassuring them that you're okay. "Thanks for the help. I'm sure he won't be coming back any time soon, especially after the way Casey glared at him." You add chuckling, trying to lighten the tense atmosphere around you.
"You'd almost think you guys were dating with the way he attacked him to defend you," Severide commented casually, using a tone that sounded like he knew something. Which you decided to ignore for the time being.
At the mention of your boyfriend though, you looked up hoping to catch a glimpse of him but noticed he was nowhere to be found which alarmed you.
As the crowd dispersed and engaged in their own conversations, you discreetly slipped away and made your way to visit Matt in his quarters, marking this as your second visit there in the last half hour.
This time though, you didn't even bother knocking and simply walked in.
When he noticed it was you, he quickly stood up concerned, “Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”
“Oh, I'm alright. Don't worry, it was nothing I hadn't dealt with before in this line of duty, you know how men can be sometimes.” You answered, nonchalantly.
You both stayed quiet for a moment, not knowing what to say. Finally, you decided to break the silence, “I'm sorry, Matt. I don't want to argue with you, so if it'll make you happy, we can go tell them right now.”
He sighed, turning around in his chair to look at you, “Y/N, this isn't just up to me, we’re in this relationship together. We have to make decisions like these as a team. I love you and I want everyone to know that but if you're not taking this seriously and want to go on that date instead then-”
“No! This is serious to me Matt, I love you and you know that.” You cut him off before he's able to finish the sentence. “I have eyes for you and only you, no one else matters to me but you, Matthew Casey.” You add firmly, making sure he understands that.
“Then what’s the issue here?” He asks, tired of the constant back and forth you've been having today.
You sigh and sit down on the edge of his bed before replying, “I just- I've become so close to everyone here in the last few weeks and I don't want their opinion of me to change after they find out that you and I are together. I don't want them to think that I'm only here because of you.”
“Baby…” He says in a softer tone, getting out of his seat to come sit next to you.
You don't look at him once he's sat beside you, opting to look at the floor instead.
“Hey, look at me.” He gently says taking your hands in his, grabbing your attention.
You hum as you bring your eyes up to meet his.
When he's sure you're not going to look away, he starts speaking, “Listen to me, everyone here? They're the most amazing and supportive group of people you'll ever meet. They won't dare say anything of the sort because they'd be beyond happy for us. And if they slightly even think about it, I won't hesitate to go all ‘Captain’ on them.” He says, making you chuckle.
“Besides, I don't want idiots like that guy who can't take no for an answer, hurting you again for a nonexistent chance of taking you out.” He adds.
You lean forward, pressing your forehead against his, and after a moment passes, you mutter a simple, “Okay.”
“Okay?” Matt questions.
“Yeah, okay, let’s tell them.” You reply, nodding enthusiastically.
“I want everyone to know that this handsome man right here,” You say pointing at his chest with a teasing tone, “Is of the market and mine only.”
“Yeah?” He grins.
“Mhm,” You say with an even bigger smile, before leaning in to press your lips against his.
As your lips finally touch, a wave of stillness washes over you. It feels as though the entire world has come to a halt and all that exists is the shared connection between the two of you. At that moment, nothing else matters except for the feeling of his lips against yours.
His delicate hand caresses your face, making you smile into the kiss as you pull him in closer, wrapping your arms around his neck. There's no need to hide your love for each other anymore, allowing your affection for one another to be expressed freely without the fear of secrecy. The rush of emotion flowing through you is intoxicating and God, it is an exhilarating feeling, one that you had never felt before.
Before the kiss could progress any further, you heard cheering outside making you pull away. You glance out the window to understand what the fuss is about when you notice that the blinds were left open, meaning that all of 51 just saw you kissing Matt.
Your cheeks flush with warmth, causing you to bury your face in Matt's shoulder as he laughs at your reaction. He wraps his arm around you, pulling you closer in a tight embrace.
You look up at him, mouthing an ‘I love you,’
He whispers back, “I love you too.”
He quickly leans in for one more peck against your lips, before bracing himself for all the questions you're about to receive once you head outside.
“You guys were betting on us?” You asked amused, raising your eyebrows at the exchange of money happening right in front of your eyes.
“Well, what were we supposed to do!?” Cruz exclaimed defensively, earning a giggle from you.
“I mean, we all knew you guys were head over heels for each other, that was obvious. We just didn't realize you had been together prior to all of this.” Added Ritter, shrugging.
“I can speak for everyone though when I say that we are all very happy for you two.” Said Herrmann, making everyone nod in agreement.
As soon as the initial stage of shock died down, Stella and Sylvie rushed over to you, enveloping you in a group hug, requesting all the juicy details. While Kelly simply gave Matt a supportive pat on the back, smiling at his best friend.
Soon, the questions regarding your relationship began pouring in. Matt drew you closer, wrapping his arm around your waist as he answered each of them one by one. You rested your head on his shoulder, closing your eyes briefly, basking in the serenity.
And at last, you found yourself finally feeling at ease. Your family knew, and they were happy for you. Which is all you could ask for.

KIND EYES ON AN INTIMIDATING FACE - AN C.S. SCENARIO

Ateez Masterlist

Throughout your career, you have had many blessings. From your debut as a solo idol with the amount of freedom you had, which was uncommon in smaller labels such as yours, to hold your space in the industry after 15 years since then. In all those years, you explored as much as you could with your producing skills and acting roles. However, you felt like yourself the most ever since you started your very own YouTube show.
In the short history of it, there were many moments that unexpectedly became viral through the 2 years you've hosted it. Many of those you enjoyed revisiting from time to time for different reasons. Some of your dearest friends today turned so because of an episode, which you'd forever be grateful for.
However, a forever fan favorite (and maybe one of your favorites to date) was when Ateez were your guests back in 2023. You saw the clip so many times on Tiktok and other platforms that you had it stuck in your mind and to this day, you still received questions about it in fan meetings and other TV shows, which was always fun for you.
The viral clip includes you and 3 of their members, Hongjoong, Jongho, and San, as the main parties involved. It started when Hongjoong asked you a simple question: "Who do you think is the most friendly to start a conversation with?" The context that is left out on the clip is important. You mentioned how you tended to have a hard time making new friends in the industry, as you were known to be introverted, and many colleagues could be intimidated by your name alone. It was by the end of the interview when everyone was the most comfortable, and somehow, the hardships of idol life, appearances, and stereotypes became a topic of conversation.
Then, Jongho mentioned it had to be Yunho or maybe Yeosang while you pretended to think. He said something about them being the nicest looking. Many of the others agreed with that statement, adding that they were angels lookalike. Which, yes, you couldn't deny it.
But that wasn't your answer.
There were full-on gasps when you said San’s name. The man himself looked around like that was someone else’s name. His reaction was analyzed by the internet, who declared that he looked like a confused kitten, a very cute confused kitten.
His ears became red in a second, truly flabbergasted as he hid his flustered smile with both hands. "Me?" You didn't know if he intended to ask in a such a cute, almost bashful way, but it was how it sounded to you.
"I have a dear friend of mine, whose birthday is today, what a coincidence." All of the boys seemed to hang onto your words, one of them leaning in more than the others. "He was born with a set of kind eyes on an intimidating face, so people tend to think he's mean. But he's actually one of the kindest and warmest souls I had the pleasure to meet. You remind me of him". Your tone was soft, and your eyes were genuine, and the last phrase you said directly to San himself.
All of them oooed and aaaaed while cheering, including your staff. It was a whole mess after that. There were so many cuts because the focus on the topic at hand was thrown out of the window. San was teased relentlessly, so much so his entire face was red as a tomato, and as the perpetrator, you intervened on his behalf. That last part made the cut and viral clip end with San’s watery full of emotions eyes on you.
There were many theories if he simply became emotional after your words, if it was because of how much he laughed behind the scenes or if there was something else there, something that started with lo and ended with ve.
What did you know for a fact? Every time that clip was mentioned to San, he'd blush like the first time, and the whole thing would go viral again.

This is probably the weirdest way to show that I'm in the Mouthwashing fandom, and like nobody is going to see this BUT
If I see ONE MORE person compare Ted to Jimmy I'm going to LOSE MY FUCKING MIND. Is this another testament to people not understanding Ted's overall role in the story and his character arc? YES, YES IT IS. RE READ THE BOOK. RE LISTEN TO THE RADIO DRAMA. GAME IS IT'S OWN CONVERSATION THAT WILL TAKE TOO LONG FOR ME TO DISECT + IT HAS IT'S OWN STORY AND THUS WILL NOT BE INCLUDED HERE.
Jimmy is a jealous man, who assaults (and unfortunately impregnates) Anya, and then tries to crash the ship so he doesn't have to deal with the consequences, and when everyone lives, they live in misery BECAUSE OF HIM. He is the co-pilot, he has more power and authority over the others, and he ACTIVELY makes things worse, and is at fault for the crash and the subsequent fallout. (this section is shorter, simply because I've been in the IHNMAIMS fandom much longer and have way more thoughts on Ted) Ted, on the other hand, is not at fault for the world ending. He is just as trapped as the other five, he's more prone to mental manipulation and THINKING he's better off, but he really isn't. He doesn't have more power of the others because he's also a victim. He is by no means a great guy, or even a good guy; They key difference is that at the end of his story, the book, he actually fucking HELPS. Rather than make his friends continue to live in misery, he puts them out of it, and rather than end his own suffering, he spends those precious few seconds he could be ramming an icicle into himself, comforting Ellen as she dies. It doesn't make up for what he's thought and said, BUT, it's something at least. It's remorse, it's letting her finally be content, it's trying to give her the empathy she showed him time and time again. And he gets turned into a horrid slug creature after, he actively suffers more than everyone else for the rest of time- he self sacrifices so his friends could be at peace. TLDR: Jimmy is objectively selfish and doesn't change much throughout the game, save for MAYBE the very end (ig putting Curly in the pod is one brownie point for him) however Ted actually shows growth by the end of the story, and makes a point to end the suffering of his friends, while ultimately sacrificing himself in the process. If I catch another person equating these two I'm just gonna start throwing hammers at them I DON'T CARE. I am THE Ted defender, and I WILL stand my ground that, while he is no where near perfect, he DOES become a better person by the end of the story and deserves to have that acknowledged. anyway this has been sick rants with me, feel free to add on in reblogs or perchance spark a FRIENDLY debate. I apologize if I come off rude here, Ted and IHNMAIMS have been a hyperfixation of mine for months and I am very easily riled up about the story and characters. adding new tag ; Jace rants 🗯️ ! For all my ranting escapades from now on.

Oh, Darling, Please Be Mine
Prompt: Proposal
@bucktommyfluffebruary
A03: https://archiveofourown.org/works/62721625/chapters/162762577
Tommy felt his heart hammering in his chest as he led Evan up to the edge of the clearing, where it was easiest to see the ocean from, praying that he didn’t pass out before he asked him the question that he knew would change his life…
…but he also knew that he didn’t just want to dive right into it. He had a plan.
Once they were finally up there, he turned and said, “You know you’re the first person I’ve ever shared this place with?” and his boyfriend nodded and quipped, “Yeah, you, uh…you kinda mentioned that before,” and the airman flushed, feeling his stomach flip at the adorable smile on the younger man’s face, a part of him still terrified that he was making the wrong decision. God, what if Evan said no? Even worse, what if he laughed at him? What if—
No. He cut off the line of thought before it could get worse and took a deep breath.
“Yeah, well…this has always been where I’ve felt the safest, you know?” Tommy started to explain, wanting Evan to truly understand why that place was important to him. “When…when things got bad at home, I always knew I could come here and no one would find me. Here is where I learned to accept…well…me. All of me.”
At that, Evan’s brow unfurrowed and he knew he was getting through to him and let out a sigh of relief and pulled him closer, moving them to a spot where they could sit, echoing their positions from before.
His boyfriend pressed up into him, thigh to thigh, shoulder to shoulder, and Tommy felt himself settle.
“When I realized I liked boys, it was here. When…when I realized I never wanted to be my father, it was here. I learned how to make paper cranes here, too,” he added with an embarrassed nod of his head, and his boyfriend’s eyes lit up and he unintentionally interrupted, “You can make paper cranes?” but stopped when Tommy shot him a look, for which he was grateful, and he grasped at his hand with his own. “I also learned that most relationships take a hell of a lot of work and some people…like my parents…don’t know how to put in the work…”
His voice trailed off and he felt the mood shift slightly and felt bad for doing that, not wanting to make his boyfriend feel bad for him and swiftly tried to change the conversation back to a lighter note by saying, “But I’d like to think I’ve figured out a thing or two,” and ran his thumb over the ridges of his knuckles.
“I think you’ve been doing pretty good,” Evan said, shooting him a puppy-eyed look with those perfectly blue eyes of his.
Tommy’s stomach flipped. Again.
The ring in his pocket felt like a lead weight.
He couldn’t decide if the weight was one of promise or one of dread—he loved Evan with all his heart, but there was still some insidious voice in the back of his mind that was telling him that he would ruin everything by asking him to marry him. God, he loved the idea of hearing Mr. Kinard, or maybe even Mr. Buckley-Kinard coming from his lips…but his fear of him saying no somehow weighed more than the prospect of him saying yes, and it was holding him back.
He bit at the inside of his cheek and then turned his eyes to the horizon, taking in the view, and instead of saying what he wanted to, instead said, “It was also here where I decided to go into the army. I used to stare out at this view and all I could think of was being in the air, getting away from it all, you know?”
Evan nodded.
“So…this place was for you what my little hunting shack was for me?” he remarked, and Tommy hummed in the back of his throat and replied, “Yeah, I guess it was. I spent hours here pretending to fly off to places across the ocean. I used to make up countries that didn’t exist. I, uh…I always liked the idea of finding an island filled with dinosaurs,” he softly admitted, hoping that he wasn’t embarrassing himself…
…and was taken aback when his boyfriend said, “Oh, you mean like those Dinotopia books?”
He arched an eyebrow.
“You don’t know Die Hard or Love Actually, but you know one of the most obscure books series from the early nineties?” he asked, incredulous, unable to keep from lightly chuckling at the anachronism, shaking his head as Evan shrugged with a sheepish grin on his face, still trying to understand aspects of the young man in front of him, wondering if he would ever learn everything about him.
He hoped that he didn’t. Tommy hoped that he would go through the rest of his life constantly learning about new things about Evan that he didn’t know. All he wanted to do was keep unraveling the mystery of the man in front of him and living the rest of his life with him no matter what happened, even if it meant that he had to stop flying—and fuck, if that wasn’t the most terrifying thing he had ever thought of; that he would give up flying if it meant that he could keep Evan Buckley in his life.
Tommy’s nerves finally settled.
He went to open his mouth to take the jump, but then Evan said, “I do know things, you know. You don’t always have to sound so surprised,” and the airman gave him a look and said, “I’m not surprised…”
His boyfriend gave him a look.
“…okay, maybe I’m a little surprised, but I like that. I like being surprised by you…”
With trembling fingers he reached towards his pocket and unzipped it as quickly as he could and then pulled out the ring box, noting Evan’s blue eyes widening.
“…and I want to keep on being surprised by you for the rest of my life. For the rest of our lives,” he amended, feeling an odd calmness settle over him as he opened the ring box to show him what he’d picked out for him. “So, if you don’t mind—Evan Buckley—will you do me the honor of turning our lives into something even more? Because I can no longer see a future without you in it, and I don’t want to wait any longer. When I think of home, I don’t think of a house with a cracking front driveway, an uneven foundation, and a leaky side roof anymore...I think of you. You are my home.”
He searched his face, noticing a faint sheen of moisture in the corners of his eyes.
“Evan. Will you marry me?”
He swore everything went silent, even the birds in the trees, the only sound the waves down below them, faint and pulsing in time with his heartbeat as he waited with bated breath, somehow not scared by the silence that he hadn’t been expecting, but instead completely ready for whatever his boyfriend might say…
…and then his heart caught in his throat when Evan looked up at him and said in a tremulous tone, “Oh, god, yes…Tommy, yes,” and then leaned in and wrapped a hand around the back of his neck and pulled him in for a kiss that caught him off guard with its softness and sweetness, and he could feel faint tear tracks press to his cheeks, tears that weren’t his, and Tommy leaned into the kiss, pouring all of his love into it, using his free hand to grasp at the younger man’s waist.
Eventually they pulled back and Evan wiped the back of his hand across his eyes and said, “That is literally the most perfect ring I’ve ever seen,” and Tommy smiled.
“It took me a while to get it made. You almost nearly found out about it, actually,” he admitted, and blue eyes locked back onto his.
“Really? When?”
“Remember that yoga class I dragged you to?” Evan nodded. “Yeah, well, I didn’t realize that the woman I ordered the ring from was also a yoga instructor,” he said with a comedic tilt of his head, and was thrilled when his boyfriend coughed out a wet laugh and shook his head and said, “No! Wait, that’s why you were acting so weird around her?”
Tommy nodded and said as he pulled out the ring from the ring box, “Yeah, nearly blew the whole thing up right then and there—and then there was me convincing you to come here,” he reluctantly confessed. “I knew I was gonna propose right after the 118 bash at the beach, before the week was out…and then you gave me the perfect opportunity with this picnic. That’s kind of why I was being so weirdly controlling at the beginning of the trip. And why I took so many photos,” he added as he slipped the ring onto the third finger of Evan’s left hand.
Evan laughed again and said, “Kinda glad you did…oh my god, this is real, isn’t it?”
He lifted his hand and stared at the ring.
“Mhmm. It is.”
“You…me…we’re-we’re…we’re engaged.” Tommy watched as it sunk in. “We’re…oh, god, we’re engaged!” Evan exclaimed, leaning back in and pressing a quick kiss to his cheek, his entire face lit up with the biggest smile the airman had ever seen. “I’m gonna be Mr. Buckley-Kinard…”
“So you do want to hyphenate? I was kind of hoping you would…”
Evan nodded so violently he was afraid his head would fall right off.
“Oh, yeah. I mean, I love your last name, but I want everyone to know about both of us, and this way if we have…if we have kids,” he hesitantly added with a duck of his eyes, “They can have both of our names.”
Tommy nodded right back at him and softly agreed, “Yeah, I’d like that. And besides, once we’re both captains, we can go by our own names so people won’t get confused,” he said with a wry grin in as much of a serious tone he could muster considering just how overwhelmingly overjoyed he felt in that moment—so much so that he was certain that he was about to start yelling at the top of his lungs to anyone who would listen that he had gotten Evan Buckley to agree to marry him.
His boyfriend’s expression was adorable as his nose scrunched up and he said, “Once we’re both captains? Wow, uh…sounds like-like you have some pretty big plans for us,” and Tommy gave him a soft smile and said, “I hope you don’t mind. I’ve been thinking a lot about our future lately, and it just made sense that we both might want that one day…”
“Not gonna lie, it’s occurred to me. Just…I don’t want it to happen too soon, you know? I kinda hope Bobby sticks around for a while longer.”
Tommy felt his heart melt a little at the admission.
“Yeah, I get that,” he said, reaching out and brushing a stray curl from his forehead, loving how long his boyfriend’s hair was getting…and then was taken aback when Evan said, “Hey, so I’ve got an engagement ring, but what about you? I wanna show the world that you’re about to be mine, too,” and the airman didn’t know what to say—but then took a second and suggested, “How about I show you the website and you can design one for me, too?” and Evan lit up.
“Oh, I like that idea. You’d let me do that? Because I know you’re kinda weird about that kind of thing. You know, jewelry,” he said, tugging lightly at Tommy’s shirt. “I mean, you wear necklaces from time to time, but because you work with your hands so much in your off time, I wouldn’t want to pick something that would get in the way…”
Tommy shrugged.
“Then we pick it out together.”
Evan’s eyes crinkled at the corners.
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
He leaned back in and recaptured his boyfriend’s—no, his fiancé’s lips with his own, and lingered, soaking in the moment at finally realizing that his boyfriend was now his fiancé and that as soon as he possibly could, his last name would be attached to his and they would be married. And he would have a husband.
Fuck, he never thought that it would happen.
Unbidden, he felt a few of his own tears finally sneak out, and Evan pulled back from the kiss just enough to breathe out, “Hey, are you okay?” and Tommy nodded and said, “Yeah, just…you said yes. You-you…you’re gonna marry me. You’re gonna be my husband. We’re…we’re gonna be married," the words finally sinking in, the realization of what had just happened somehow hitting him with all the weight of a firehose to the chest.
The younger firefighter grinned wide and said, “Yeah, we’re gonna be married! I can’t wait ‘til I get to call you husband…”
All of the air left his lungs at once.
He nodded.
“Yeah. Husband,” he said breathlessly, reaching out and lightly tracing his fingers along Evan’s jawline, darting his eyes between his lips and baby blues—no, sky blues, he mentally corrected. Eyes as blue as the sky that he had escaped to at the age of eighteen, skies that he was willing to let go of for the rest of his life if it meant waking up to seeing them right next to him every morning until he could no longer open his own eyes.
Evan then said, “So…we gonna head home, now? Tell everyone the good news?”
Tommy shook his head and softly replied, “Not just yet. I want this to be just us for a little while longer. Is that okay?” he asked, nervous, but his fiancé nodded and skated his thumb over the back of his hand and said, “Yeah, it is. We can keep it to ourselves a bit longer. Just us.”
They stayed like that for a while, sitting and staring, and the airman found himself constantly running his fingers over the ring on Evan’s finger, still baffled by the fact that he had said yes.
Unexpectedly, Evan broke the silence with, “So…when you were asking me about my favorite season earlier, were you trying to figure out when you wanted us to get married?” and he shyly nodded and ducked his eyes. His fiancé chuckled and said, “You know what, I don’t care when we get married, just that we do. Now…how long do you want to keep this between us? Because the moment we tell Chimney, everyone will know,” and Tommy rolled his eyes and groaned.
“Ugh, I know, but I also know that you want to tell your sister as soon as possible, and once she knows, then Howie knows, and…yeah.”
They shared a look.
…and then Tommy said, “How’s this. We keep it to ourselves for the next few days. You’ll have to keep the ring off during work hours, anyway, so it shouldn’t be too hard to hide,” he added with a head tilt. “When you’re ready, we tell them. Not a moment before.”
He rubbed his finger over the ring one more time.
“Only when you’re ready…”
It felt soft and sweet when Evan leaned in and kissed him, none of the manic energy and passion from before, but somehow with even more love than before and he sank into it, enjoying the way it made his brain go quiet, and by the time they both pulled back he was feeling lightheaded in the best way possible and so took a moment to catch his breath by resting his forehead against Evan’s, wondering if they stayed like that long enough that his birthmark would be etched onto his skin, as well.
Evan then said, “I like that idea. Not sure how long I can keep it a secret, though, to be honest,” and Tommy snorted and shook his head and said, “Yeah, why am I not surprised? Don’t worry about it, Evan. Just do it when it feels right.”
His fiancé arched an eyebrow at him.
“I, uh—I kinda wanna call Maddie right now,” he admitted, and the airman threw his head back and barked out a laugh and said, “I think ten minutes isn’t quite enough time. Give it a few hours, at least?” and they broke into giggles together and ended up on their sides in the grass, staring at each other as they tried to come down from their laughter.
Evan calmed down first and said, “Yeah, I can…I can do that.”
They laid there for a little while longer, Tommy basking in the hope and love that he felt…and then the young fireman said, “God, I can’t wait to be married to you…”
…and Tommy smiled.
He couldn’t wait, either.

This is the last thing I'm going to post about this. Yes, reblogs are turned off. No, I am not tagging anyone's Tumblr or pointing you towards the people involved: I have them blocked. Do not go bother either one of them.
The Tumblr post I responded to earlier tonight went up before I read the actual response emails, because, well. They were sent while I was AFK, and then the Tumblr post containing Razz's response emails was tagged for me while I was, you know, not working. When I finally got to actually read the emails, I hit this line:
I bought the first heat pack during your sale and it said very explicitly in the emails that you guys would send a random one from your supply, no mention that customers needed to put something else in their cart.
Emphasis mine.
And at the point where someone's just fully making stuff up rather than admitting they fucked up, I'm done. So. In the name of my own sanity, I issued a full refund for this order, and:
Hi Razz,
Since you and your friend decided to take this conversation to Tumblr in the 3 or so hours I was AFK spending time with my partners, I hadn't actually gotten an opportunity to go back and read these emails. The first time I saw them was not in my inbox but idly scrolling Tumblr while petting my dog at 11 PM with your friend's, uh… commentary on them. Your assumption that I was condescending and calling you stupid rather than that I'm autistic and speak very precisely is very interesting, in context, and skipping over me saying 'I'm baffled' and 'I'm genuinely confused' to call that 'I think you're stupid' and all of the other really shitty commentary your friend put on those emails is… well, it's a choice. And at first I thought this must be someone out of pocket and white-knighting for you so I was not going to hold you to account for what they said, but then when I went to go block them, I saw your comments, and your posts, so. Yeah, that's fun and cute.
Anyway, the email absolutely did not "explicitly say" that we would be picking from our stock. What it said was, as follows:
"Emet just spent a week going through our entire stock of fabric, adding all of the new patterns & figuring out which designs must be discontinued since the fabrics can't be ordered anymore. She's got all of the closeout heat & cold packs prepped - ready to fill & ship - and you can get one of the discontinued prints FREE with the purchase of any regular-price heating pad, no code required! When they're gone, they're gone, so don't wait! Order by December 14th for domestic heat & cold pack delivery estimated by 12/24."
This section is followed by a selection of 9 New Heat & Cold Pack Patterns, labeled "New Heat & Cold Pack Patterns," followed by another section marked "Closeout Options!" which had 5 of the then 15-20 Closeout patterns, all labeled with CLOSEOUT at the front of the name.
After this was our legally-required footer with our mailing address and the unsubscribe link.
Nowhere in there does it explicitly say that we will be picking the item for you. In fact, it says "you can get one of the discontinued prints free," which would seem to imply you need to pick something.
I'm not sure why I should have assumed that sending you a screenshot would be something inaccessible to you when you… sent me a screenshot. Nobody said you were incompetent. Nobody said you were stupid. Nobody said blind people can't take screenshots. I mean, you took a screenshot of the email that you said explicitly said something it does not at all say, so clearly you personally can take a screenshot, and find that to be a useful tool in communicating. Why would I have thought that responding in kind would be something inaccessible to you? I haven't a clue, but what I do know is that my wife just walked downstairs after her full sleep cycle and said, "Is this still that person?" so … yeah.
I've refunded this order & closed your customer account. It's genuinely worth it to me at this point to lose the money so I never again have to deal with a person who chooses to try to tell me falsehoods about the content of an email that I just told you that I wrote. No further responses will be received by any of our staff.
Spider
I’m not going to waste more time reading paragraphs of you insulting me over not understanding your esoteric definition of closeout and deciding that a blind person can’t be blind if they can take a screenshot. I had a simple question, I practically resolved it myself, and between my first email and the next you leapt to conclusions and treated me like dirt for the crime of not having access to information you never provided in am accessible way. I choose to speak with a trusted friend over the situation the same way you would speak to your own partners. it was up to them what they did with your own words. Whatever fallout comes of this is on you. I’ve made sure the blind community is aware of your discrimination and as far as I’m concerned that’s the end of this. I hope your shipping costs I never even asked about were worth the income you've lost from me and my extended community since that tiny amount of money appears to be all you care about.
Razz T.
Razz,
Go away.

SitrixOC Astra (Third POV) Tags/Warnings: Vanilla, Fluff with porn, vaginal penetration, heavy petting, cardiophilia, Non-canon, Canon character x OC character Words: 2K+
Astra stood up, her head swimming after finishing the contract removal ritual with Sitri. Being only the second time she had performed this, it was natural that she would feel a bit woozy.
Damn, I never expected to be this sick. But then again…I’m not from hell…
Ppyong looked at her, flying around in circles with a concerned look. “I think it’s time again, aye! Miss Astra, do you need it?”
Astra looked up at Ppyong, trying to smile away the nausea that suddenly appeared. It was that time again, but she felt it was too soon. She had just received energy from Satan about a day ago. Or so she thought since the sun technically had not set yet. But who knew how time worked here? A day in Hell could mean two on Earth.
“I’ll be fine, Pp-” Astra struggles to finish her sentence, nearly bending over and placing a hand to her mouth to keep from throwing up. She also felt like her lungs were caving in, each breath she took being harder than the last.
“It’s time,” Sitri says, standing up and gently rubbing Astra’s back. She sat up and looked over at Satan who was staring at her wordlessly.
“Okay, I admit it. I need energy again. But isn’t it too soon?” Astra gasps, holding onto Sitri’s sleeve.
“No, it’s your first time in Hell. You’ll need it more often until you’re used to it.” Satan spoke plainly as if Astra should already know this. She rolls her eyes and squints her eyes at him.
“Then, will it be you again? Mister, chokes a lot.” She added sass to her voice, which made Satan chuckle boyishly as if he’d pulled the biggest “gotcha” moment. But Sitri kept rubbing her back and answered her question instead.
“You have already exchanged energy with His Majesty. It would be wise to choose another devil now so one source won’t be exhausted.”
“Oh.” Astra stood up fully, exchanging a glance between Satan and Sitri while rubbing her thumbs together. “So, I’ll be with you next?”
Satan frowned, unable to hide his distaste but he knew Sitri was right. “Yeah. Astra, think of the place where you’re most comfortable. Like before.”
“So we’re doing this now?”
“Yes. Now.”
Astra exhales slowly, letting her mind go at ease as she thinks of Minhyeok’s room. It felt odd, just like last time as if she were using his room in real time though it was just an illusion. She wasn’t actually in his room. She wondered if she could get over the guilt of having her first time be with Satan while doing it on what was a manifestation of her childhood best friend’s bed. Though, it was useless to dwell in the past. It already happened, and she needed this to stay alive.
At the same time while zoning out, she could overhear Satan’s conversation with Sitri.
“Hey.”
Sitri stares at his superior, straight-faced as usual and attentive. “Yes, your Majesty?”
“She’s mine.”
“....I’m aware.”
Satan was satisfied with the answer, not wanting to cause problems with his subordinate. However, there was something backhanded about Sitri’s statement that made him want to kick his ass. It was as if that lingering attitude he picked up from Hades was taunting him.
“Your Majesty, aren’t you going with Miss Astra this time, aye?” Ppyong asks genuinely while flying around closely to the slightly ticked-off king.
Satan swatted at Ppyong, scoffing and clicking his tongue.
“They sound like we’re in one of those dramas.” Astra thinks to herself, highly amused. Even though it was tempting, there was no time for Astra to say anything or focus on their banter, as Minhyeok’s room came into view.
It’s cold again. Wait…
Astra took a look down, her body bare like last time.
“Well fuck where did my clothes go again?” She covers her breasts, looking around for some kind of cover until-
“Solomon.”
Astra jumped, tripping over her own feet and landing on the bed behind her. In front of her stood Sitri, staring at her with pink cheeks while still holding a full cup of warm tea.
“Nervous?” He asks, coming closer to her with a sincere tone to his voice.
“No. Well, maybe. This is the second time I’m doing this.” Astra had to admit to herself that essentially having what was considered two dick appointments back to back was something out of the ordinary for someone like her. She was a virgin the night before, and now…
“Here, have some tea. It will help.” He offers his cup to her, Astra readily accepting. The smell emitting from it is fragrant and soothing, as she takes her first sip to test the temperature. It was smooth, quite honestly the most perfectly brewed tea she ever had in her life. Before she knew it the entire cup was gone, Sitri grinning from ear to ear as he took the cup back from her.
“Sitri that was amazing…I’m already feeling-” Astra paused, putting her hand to her chest as her heart thumped wildly. The room was quiet, but now it sounded more like a symphony with her pulse echoing throughout the walls. She looked at Sitri, who was so red in the face and trembling that she knew something was not right.
“Wait, this tea…is there caffeine in it?”
“Why yes, it’s black tea.”
Astra stood up, uncrossing her arms and pointing at Sitri with a firm pout, and her brow furrowed. “Sitri, this won’t calm me down. My heart feels like it’s on overdrive!”
The other steps up to her, reaching his hand behind her head and bending down to take her lips in a slow and deep kiss. This was much deeper and intimate than the first time she met him. His tongue explored the remnants of the tea lingering in her mouth, his moans and whimpers flowed into her as he brought her closer to his body.
“Your heartbeat…it sounds heavenly. So good…so loud.” He rasps, his deep pink hues meeting her gaze.
Astra now could pay attention to the details of his eyes. His pupils, blue upside-down crosses. Swirls of deep and light pink in his irises mesmerized her and made her forget that she gulped down enough caffeine to have her wired for theoretically a week.
“Solomon, your heartbeat…before then it was hard to concentrate on it. Erratic, mysterious, uncharted. I couldn’t make heads or tails of it. But now, this simple, steady beat is enough. And I like it a lot.”
Astra’s head was hazy from the kiss, but she then felt an overwhelming emotion. Disdain. There was one thing she couldn’t stand about Sitri since she arrived, and it was how she was constantly…ever so…compared to her ancestral grandfather.
“I’m not him.” She gently pushes Sitri away, turning her back to him. “I don’t want to be compared to him. I don’t even know the man and you’re comparing me to him.”
“Solomon, I didn’t mean-”
“My name is Astra, Sitri. Astra. A-S-T-R-A. There is no Solomon in that name. Only in my blood. Don’t call me by his name when we’re like this. I don’t…I don’t like it.” With her heightened heartbeat, even more wild now that she was upset, the room shakes in response to her current state. Sitri’s arms wrap around her from behind, his lips against her neck as he gently kisses up to her earlobe.
“I’m sorry that I’ve offended you, I don’t call you that to compare. It’s just…I’m so used to”
“Then get used to me. Sitri.” Astra turns around, staring into Sitri’s eyes again before kissing his cheek, then his lips once more, wrapping her arms around his neck. In seconds, she’s lifted off the floor into his arms, her legs around his waist to brace herself as he carries her to the bed. With a gentle flop, Astra lands on her back, smiling and placing her foot on his chest to playfully push him back.
Sitri smiles, taking off his top, the silky black fabric pulling over his head and falling to the floor revealing a well-toned, muscular physique that he was hiding effectively under it. Astra’s heart thumps louder upon seeing his frame, his tattoos now showing, and his waist, the ratio to his thighs better than any male model or porn star she’s seen before.
“Wow...Sitri..” She gasps, feeling the arousal increase between her thighs. She reaches out to touch him letting the definition of his muscles flex and react to her fingertips. He sighed, leaning closer to kiss her forearm and flashing a gaze at her that was teaming with ecstasy.
“You’re getting excited…if you could hear what I hear-” He shudders and exhales again, his eyes closing and opening slowly. “...you would understand how aroused I am right now.”
Astra sits up, scooting her body closer to Sitri, her hands now at his waist teasing the waistband of his pants.
“I want these off.” She says in a low voice, giving the other an innocent look. Sitri wastes no time, his pants removed in record time as they too hit the floor along with his underwear. Astra’s eyes take in the shape and size of his cock, noting that he was about the same size as Satan but slightly thicker.
She allows Sitri to lift her once again, positioning her hips at the right angle before the tip of him kisses her entrance. Astra’s breath hitches, her fingers gripping his shoulders as she keeps her eyes locked with his. With a small nod to give him the signal, she feels his shaft slowly push past her wet folds. A whimpering noise escapes her throat, her head burying in Sitri’s neck and chest as she takes him all in one go until he bottoms out. Sitri sits for a minute, slowly breathing as his chest rises and falls. She could tell by the way he gripped her waist that he was savoring the moment, and pressing her chest against his so he could feel her heart thump faster now that he was nestled deep within her.
“So…good. So steady. I want to hear more…” Sitri whispers in her ear before he pulls out and snaps his hips upward, causing Astra to gasp and cry out suddenly. He then evens out his strokes to the beat of her heart, the rhythm following closely at the same time hitting the right spots over and over. Astra felt no pain, only pleasure as she held onto Sitri the best she could. The way he was fucking her was more gentle, more sensual than Satan. Each thrust had meaning but was just as powerful and unrelenting.
Before she knew it she was on her back, staring up at him from below as her chest felt as if it were on fire. Her heartbeat was rising, the steady thumps turning into fast-paced pulses as if she were running a marathon.
“You’re showing off, is that for me?” Sitri asks with a grin on his face before leaning down and kissing the area where her heart was located. He bit down on the flesh, swirling his tongue before focusing on her breast and taut nipple. Astra arches her back, her legs not letting go of Sitri’s waist as he continues to pump into her wildly. Her hand curiously roams down his thigh, taking a handful of his toned and plump ass and squeezing it tightly. Sitri moans and pauses his movements, biting his lips, shaking, and looking at Astra with wild eyes.
“Again, please.” He begs in bated breath. Astra grins and uses both hands to grasp his ass and mold the flesh between her fingers. She couldn’t believe he was so sensitive by just having his backside massaged when he took so many kicks from Satan. Perhaps it was different during sex, as with each squeeze and tap his cock swelled and throbbed inside her.
“Oh, Sitri…you’re so hard you’re stretching me out…” Astra pants, the blue-haired devil leaning down to take her lips in a fervent kiss as continues to stay dormant in his position. As Astra kept her hands firm on his ass, he swirled his tongue with hers, growling and pressing his chest against hers.
As she pulls back from the kiss, that’s when she notices Sitri’s horn is gleaming in the light, covered in the same milky substance she experienced when playing with Satan’s horns. She grabs it, rubbing it vigorously. Sitri moans loudly, the sensation causing him to pause in his thrusting before he changes his pattern, his strokes now deep and in unison with her hand movements.
“Yes…like that…fuck…” Sitri’s eyes close as he bites his lip.
Astra felt herself clench around his shaft, excited to hear Sitri curse as he did. He appeared so well-mannered and distinguished that he was like a different devil in the bedroom. She couldn’t say much more, the stimulation from the caffeine, the sex, and even stroking his horn was overwhelming. It was as if everything he felt, she could too. At the same time, she was moments away from passing out, her climax reaching its peak.
“Sitri…I can’t…I’m about to lose it!” Astra cries and grabs his forearms tightly as she throws her head back, her walls closing even tighter around his cock as spasms rippled through her core. For a moment she thought her heart stopped, but the gentle kisses of Sitri let her know that wasn’t the case.
“That’s it…just like that, Astra.” Sitri saying her voice so sweetly made her whimper as another wave of pleasure hit her, this time a bit of fluid coating the other’s cock as he pulled out and slid back in to help her ride it out. “We can stop here for now…it’s a lot of you to take this much energy. Normally, you’d be able to exchange much more and receive more but this is enough. We’ll try again at a later time.”
Astra felt her exhaustion hit like a brick wall, limbs heavy and the wild thumps of her pulse finally regulating and slowing to a normal state. She looks at Sitri with tired eyes, reaching out to him to gently cup his cheek, his lips kissing her palm.
“Sleep well,” Sitri says, his nails gently tracing her jaw down to her chest. Astra smiles weakly before closing her eyes, Sitri’s swollen cock still deep inside of her until she is softly snoring. He removes himself reluctantly, wishing he could stay like this with her for a while longer. But he knew well.
“Someday, I’ll do what I want to with you…and that’s when I’ll let you know my true feelings.” He says, picking her up into his arms as they sat in the manifestation of Minheyok’s room in silence. The steady beat of her heart intertwined with Sitri’s being the only thing that played like music in his ears.

There’s Three of You?! Pt. 2

As stated before: no, no one asked me to write this. Yes, I thought about all this. Yes, I’m doing listening excersizes (just like in junior high aaaaaaalllllll over again) for the dialogues.
Warnings: foul language, might be some medical inconsistencies.
CHAPTER 2
I had just parked outside of the 21st District’s Police Department, my brother’s phone in my passenger’s seat on top of my coat. I cozied up before getting out of my car.
That idiot doesn’t lose his head because God was nice enough to super-glue it to his neck.
I made my way inside and notice the woman at the desk, she looks imposing, a woman with authority.
She must be the desk Sergeant.
I made my way over to her, a polite smile on my face.
“Hi, I’m intern Dr. Lillian Halstead… my brother works here.” I say to her, she looks at me, genuinely shocked.
“I wasn’t aware Chuckles had a sister.” she said, I snorted at her nickname for my brother.
“Chuckles? That’s a good one Sergeant…” I read her name tag “Platt. Pleasure to meet you.” I added.
“Pleasure’s mine. So, what did Chuckles do now?” she asked, I pulled out his phone.
“Idiot forgot this at my place last night when he left after watching the game together.” I say, the woman let out a hearty laugh.
“Men and their sports.” she said, then she looked at me again. “Come on, we’re going up through the back, I heard those knuckleheads will be back any minute now.” she said, coming out from behind the desk, asking someone to cover for her and nodding with her head for me to follow.
We went around the back and went upstairs to the locker rooms, we exchanged numbers and she went back to the desk. I heard everyone come back and Antonio comment on the things they’d missed, then Sergeant Hank Voight gave some orders for the guys to go out again.
“Actually, I think I'm gonna do this by myself, O.” said the new guy, Atwater
“Oh hey, everyone, Atwater's been in the unit two minutes and already he's put himself in charge.” said detective Olinsky, Jay had told me about him.
Everyone started clapping and I did too, decided it was time to show myself.
“I’m not even in this unit and I know one of its most important rules.” everyone turned to look at me, even Voight, who had started to make his way to -what I assume is- his office, I had taken off my winter coat and had my lab coat on top of my blue scrubs. Jay looked surprised to see me there.
“And what’s that rule kiddo?” asked the sergeant, I smirked.
“Whatever Sergeant Voight says goes.” I said, he let out a small chuckle.
“Smart girl.” Voight said, then Jay spoke.
“What the hell are you doing here?” he asked.
“You left something very important at my place last night.” I answered.
“No I didn’t.” he said, I could see everyone following our conversation as if it was a tennis match.
“Yes you did.”
“I would’ve notice it.”
This man.
“Alright smartass, could you maybe call me? I think I left my phone in the car.”
Jay reached to his front right pocket, then to his left, then both his back pockets with a face of pure terror. He sat down, open his drawers and, alas, no phone. I decided to have mercy on him. I pulled out his phone from my lab coat pocket.
He look at it, sighed in relief and walked over to me.
“I guess I did forget something. Thanks.” he said, reaching out his hand for the phone.
“Fully charged and updated.” I slapped his hand away and gave him a serious look. “Please, for the love of God, don’t loose or break it. Remember that I gifted it to you for Christmas last year.” I added.
“I’m not that careless.” Lies!
“Tell that to your previous three phones!”
“Colateral damage during UC ops.” I slapped him behind the head this time. “Ow! Sorry.”
“Sorry doesn’t begin to cut it when it comes to that. You know I worry, and yet, you go and still do UC work. You’ll make me go gray before my time!” I exclaimed, I heard some snorts and laughs.
“You brought me my phone back, charged and updated, for that I’m gonna hug you.” he warned me, I shrugged and accepted the hug. “I’m gonna lift you.” I panicked at that.
“What? No. Jay-!” he wouldn’t let me go.
“Ready? On three. One…”
“Don’t you dare Halstead!” I warned.
“Two.”
“I swear to God! Jason!” he ignored me again.
“Three!” and true to his word, his hands went to my hips, and he lifted me, turning us both around. I started laughing along with him.
“Ok, ok, I give. I give! Jay!” I said in between laughs, then he placed me back on the ground, he tighten his hold on me, leaving a kiss on my forehead.
“I love you, you know that right?” he asked me, I snorted.
“I could say the same thing to you.” I said, we pulled apart and I finally gave him his phone. He pocketed it.
“Gonna introduce us to the pretty lady?” asked, who I can only guess is, Ruzek.
“You haven’t told them about me?” I say in a fake offended tone, Jay let out a sigh.
“Drama Queen.” he mutter under his breath, then spoke in a normal voice. “Alright, everyone. This is my baby sister, Lilly Halstead. She’s finishing her internship at Lakeshore.” he said.
“There’s two of you?!” asked Ruzek in disbelief.
“Yeah… and I’m the prettier one out of the two of us.” I say in a stage whisper, he pushes my head to the side, I laugh.
“We’re both good looking. Let’s leave it at that.” he said, I nodded. Just then, my phone ringed. I raised my finger to signal I’d take the call
“Dr. Halstead.” I answered.
“Where in God’s name are you?” it was my attending, pissed.
Shit.
“As I asked you before leaving. I said I had to go and deliver my brother’s phone to him. I’m at his place of work.” I said, taking a deep breath, I could feel everyones eyes on me.
“I never gave you permission to go.” My expression showed my frustration and annoyance.
“Yes you did. If you’d actually been listening instead of checking half of the female interns’s asses-”
“Don’t you dare talk to me like that. I’m your attending, and I could very well punish you for that sentence.”
“You gave me permission to leave.” I repeated.
“I did not. I want you back at the hospital. Now.”
“You have no idea who my brother is, do you?” I asked him, done with his attitude.
“No, and I don’t care.”
“You should Dr. Hobber… you should. By the way, how’s your wife? Does she know that you’re cheating on her?” everyone’s eyes, even Voight’s, were as wide as saucers at my question.
“Excuse me? How dare you-?” hes started to defend himself, I cut him off.
“Does she know that you do it with girls who are half her age? And how are your kids? I hear your eldest had a big soccer game last week? Is he still going to go to that private elementary school you bragged about?” I asked him, tone denoting my smirk.
“Halstead, don’t try me, you know I just need to say a bad comment about you and you’re out.”
“You even dare to go after my internship and I swear to God I’ll ruin your life… guess having a CPD detective working in the Intelligence Unit, for a brother does wonders to your observation skills.”
“Wait what? Your brother’s a cop? Halstead-!!” I hung up on my boss.
“And that is how you deal with your jackass of an attending.” I said, everyone clapped, I gave small bows. “Thank you, thank you, but I really gotta go. I bet he’ll want to have my ass for this.”
“Hey, he tries anything and I’ll swing by, badge on full display so he knows to back off. Maybe even add the bulletproof vest.” Jay said.
“Even I can pay you a visit.” Voight said, we all turned to him, shocked.
“Really?” asked Erin, my brother’s partner.
“Yeah. Put the fear of God in him. Show him no one messes with one of our own.” I was impressed by that.
“Thanks guys, I really appreciate it, but I have a folder about yay big with all the evidence of this guy being the worst kind of scumbag. It includes pictures, testimonies, forwarded screenshots, and a recorded phone conversation transcript between him and one of the girls who wants him out, pretty much everything to get HR to fire him.” I said, giving an estimate size with my fingers. Jay side hugged me and kissed my temple.
“That’s my girl.” he said, I smiled.
After another quick hug and promises of a drink later that day, I left the precinct back to the hospital. As soon as I parked back at the hospital staff’s parking lot, I took out the folder from it’s safe place.
“Show time.” I said to myself and walked inside, straight to the administrator’s office.

Chapter Twenty Two Joint Training / Class A vs. Class B (Part Two)
░❇┊Previous┊❇ ░ ❇┊Next┊❇ ░ ❇┊Masterlist┊❇ ┊AO3 ┊❇░
░❇ Buy Me Some Coffee~? ❇░
Chapter Warning: Almost character death, some dark themes that will include violence. Spoilers for Miraculous Season 6 along with a sprinkle of cameos from other Zag Cartoonz. Spoilers of MHA of the manga and possibly Vigilantes and Team Up Missions.
A/n: Can't believe we're back at it again and we're up to the next part of the Joint Training. So far so good, Season 6 of Miraculous is slowly getting there and the added lore in it doesn't affect much of the story (in total fact, I'm so shocked it is syncing a little too well for the plot). But anyways, enjoy this chapter gang~"
“Your…lives are at stake?” Nino questioned with a frown, “What does that mean?”
“It’s exactly what it means,” Devil spoke with a scoff, then glanced towards some other people watching them, “It should be the same for them, no? Considering they are the missing children from the United States, correct?”
Marinette realized that she was talking about Seraph, Miss Mermaid Greenhorn and the new girl named Peni Lane. This got her thinking for a moment but she remained quiet for now
Seraph was the one that spoke first, having an almost teasing smile despite it looked tight with edge.
“Are you afraid that those special hunters will be after you lot?”
“Special hunters?” Marinette questions, already noticing the teachers were secretly listening to the conversation too, especially Eraserhead.
“Remember how I said that my father has special connections? The same connections that Tomoe Tsurugi has along with Audrey Bourgeois and Gabriel Agreste?” Once Seraph heard verbal yes’s from Nino and Marinette, he continued, “Well, there are plenty of people that hunt Miraculous and other magical items or strange anomalies for many reasons. Some for their own selfish desires….others think of it as a sport.”
“Interesting. Thus why you said that you are in danger,” Master Fu stroked his goatee with a hum, “But rest assured, children, you are safe here.”
Marinette didn’t know if Master Fu’s words registered to them, witnessing the Moonlight Hunters looking at each other warily, and it wasn’t just them. It seemed Seraph, Miss Mermaid and Greenhorn looked unsure too. What were they so afraid of?
Although Marinette noticed that Miss Peni didn’t looks too surprised. Huh…
“Guys! Don’t sweat it so much~! As long as we stick together and work as a team, there’s no way the bad guys can get to us!” Nino tried to cheer them up, giving a big, confident smile, “Trust~! We’ve got a lot of strong and smart people on here.”
Eraserhead decided to intervene, “How about we get on with the next match. We shall discuss what happened during the first match laster, hm? Goddaughter of mine?”
Marinette winced, seeing how he and Amelie were looking at her. Ah, so they knew...
“Looks like the match is about to begin,” Shinso spoke in a low tone with wary eyes, watching the teams for the second match heading to their starting point, then glanced over at Luka feeding Xuppu, “Who do you think will win this round?”
“That’s sorta a redundant question considering you are somewhat a time-traveler~?” Luka smiled at the other before he quietly transformed, then twirled his bo-staff, “But I’m assuming that you want my opinion anyways, huh?”
“If I get a different perspective other than what I know, maybe I can feel a bit calmer at the fact that I can’t control everything that happens,” Shinso looked down at his capture weapon, “To not feel this itch of trying to make sure things go right and to not screw up.”
Howler hummed as he observed the purple haired hero, then glanced over at the teams, “…In my personal opinion, this might be the match that’ll end up in a possible draw.”
This surprised Shinso. “What makes you think that?”
“Well…” Howler tapped his chin with the end of his staff, tilting his head, “Nathaniel and Felix will be against each other. And both of them are real good strategists. Then there’s Momo. I heard from Ochako that she and that Kendo girl are rivals even though they were in a work study along with doing a commercial together.”
“Hmm…”
The Monkey Hero watched Shinso for a moment, but then jumped when Shinso started to cough, “Woah! Hitoshi! A-are you alright?”
“I-I’m fine,” Shinso assured the other, placing a hand on the side of his head, groaning, “I-I guess the match took a lot out of me…”
Howler frowned. He could sense the other’s song wavering. He was lying.
“SECOND ROUND TEAMS, TO THE FIELD!”
Momo took a breath as she glanced over to the other team, her eyes trained on Nathaniel in his new costume and persona. She was indeed shocked that he decided to use two Miraculous in the field at the same time, but it’s not like she could voice out her concern. It was none of her business…right?
‘He is old enough to make his own decisions. I should worry about myself and my team rather than think of others.’
"Hey, Yaoyorozu?”
Momo snapped out of her thoughts and glanced over at the red headed girl smiling at her, and responded in kind, “Er, yes? What is it, Kendo?"
“Why weren't you in the pageant? I though I'd see you there,” Kendo asked with a curious look, “I’m sure you would have stood a good chance~”
“Er, f-for some reason, Aizawa-sensei failed to tell us that something like that would be taking place,” She explained then shrugged while looking away, “I also had band practice, so I wouldn't have had time to prepare for it. I suppose he must have decided that a pageant wasn't necessary for my hero progress.”
That, and she remembered she was a Guardian in training.
Although…is it really something she still wants to be?
‘I only agreed because Midoriya requested it of me. But is it really a good idea if I become a Guardian of the Miraculous and it’s New Order?’
As Kendo and Momo kept on chatting, Argent felt eyes on him. He knew that Neim was giving him a look and the dual wielding bird hero glanced over at the snake.
“Did you have something to say to me?”
“No. I just want to know if your head is truly in the game, that’s all.”
This confused Argent for a moment, “What are you talking about?”
“The fact you’re using two Miraculous at the moment, what made you decide this?” Neim questioned, tweaking his lyre for a moment, “It almost feels like you’re trying to prove a point.”
‘Am I?’
Argent paused in his steps, although he felt a nudge at his back and turned his head to look at Pixie Girl, who gave a reassuring smile.
“Hey, we’ve got your back, okay? So don’t let the enemy get into your head~”
Although to Argent, it didn’t feel like Neim was getting to his head. Rather, it felt like the snake hero was trying to tell him something without saying it out loud. But what for?
Neim walked ahead of them, but then noticed Spilornis and Cybear looking at him curiously.
“…Yes?” The Snake Hero asked, and the Eagle hero hummed.
“Was there a point to speak to him like that?”
Neim shrugged, “You’ve noticed the tension between him and Miss Momo, right? I suppose I just wanted to gauge his reaction.”
“Do you think they are having, how you call it? A lover’s quarrel?” The Bear heroine questioned, tilting her head, making both Neim and Spilornis chuckle.
“I don’t think that’s the case for them. I just wanted to know what made Nathaniel want to unify both the Peacock and Swan Miraculous,” Neim explained but then pursed his lips as he turned serious, “I’m surprised the idiot didn’t collapse immediately since, from what I heard, no holder can wield more than one Miraculous. Too dangerous, Master Fu would say.”
“I guess that is quite the feat then?” The other bird like hero hummed, but then noticed someone looking at him and noticed it was the shadow-y like young man walking next to Argent, “Hm?”
“Oh wow, he seems gloomy,” Neim noticed as well, then smirked, “I think this match is going to pair us off with people that might have the same wavelength our energies and fighting styles.”
“And, who do you think will match with you?” Cybear asked this time, pursing her lips, “I do not know who I’d be against.”
“Nathaniel might target me. As for you, Miss Hill…” The Snake hero observed the group and tilted his head, “Perhaps Pixie Girl? She’s kinda your opposite since you are the more technologically advanced while she depends on nature. It would be your advantage since there is no life of green anywhere for her to use.”
“Hey, Tokoyami~”
The three of them looked up when the shadowy hero from the other team spoke, giving a wide grin.
“If you think about it, we're basically the same type too.”
“If you say so?” A frown was placed on Spilornis’ face as he observed the other, ‘Shihai Kuroiro. Also known as the Scheming Hero: Vantablack. Your Quirk lets you merge with darkness and move freely within it.’
Vantablack chuckled, “You and I share a destiny. We are brothers in the shadows.”
“Oh?” Spilornis looked amused, Dark Shadow peeking out from his shoulder, “You have also stared into the abyss?”
The other shadow user shrugged, although smirked playfully, “Long live eternal darkness, friend~”
Cybear just stared at the two in confusion, but then glanced over when she saw the gloves that belonged to Invisible Girl waving around in anger and even Can't Stop Twinkling was huffing and puffing.
“Hmph! Those two aren't twinkling at all!”
Soon, the two teams walked off to their respective areas discuss their game plan for a few more minutes while Vlad King announced the match was about to begin.
Argent looked down at his weapon before he felt a nudge at his side and glanced over at Kendo, who told him to use her hero name: Battle Fist, the girl giving a wink and a smile.
“Let’s do our best, Argent!”
The dual wielding bird hero nodded, “Yes. Let’s do our best, Leader.”
“If anything I want you to lead with me,” Battle Fist whispered to him, and the other red head blinked in confusion, making her chuckle, “Don’t get me wrong. I know that the plan we’ve already devised is solid. I just think…you being at my side might trip Creati up a bit, ya know?“
Argent frowned, “…Are you suggesting to emotionally distract her?”
“While that is below the belt, yeah, however…” Battle Fist hummed as she glanced over to see Momo glancing at them, but then turned back quickly when caught, “Maybe she also needs a bit of a wake up call.”
He didn’t like what his team mate was pointing out, but he sighed and nodded, “Well, villains don’t play fair.”
“Hey! We’re the heroes in this scenario~” Battle Fist smacked his back in amusement, “But you’re right. Anything to win, right? Let’s expect the unexpected, like you said before~”
Argent was quiet for a moment, but then nodded, “Anything to win.”
“Okay team! Let’s go!”
The red haired girl fist bumped her teammates as all seven of them went to their positions, ready to take down Team A.
Cellophane stared at the screen for a moment before glancing over at Tetsutetsu beside him.
“Kendo seems like a really important part of your class dynamic, huh?”
“YEAH!”
The tape hero was quick to cover Rayures’ ears as the silver male started yelling, making Cellophane wince in pain since his ears were now ringing.
“SHE GETS THE JOB DONE NO MATTER WHAT!”
“Why are you yelling?!” Cellophane whined, the Tiger heroine he was protecting from the loud screaming blinked in confusion as if not knowing what’s going o.
But Tetsutetsu kept on going.
“THAT'S OUR BRILLIANT CLASS REP FOR YA! SHE'S SMART AND DECISIVE, EVEN UNDER PRESSURE! IT'S SO AWESOME! SHE'S ALSO BRAVE, RISKING HERSELF ON THE FRONT LINES WHEN OTHERS ARE COUNTING ON HER! NOT TO MENTION, HER ATTITUDE ROCKS!"
Somehow, Rayures got the gist of what he was saying, and even glanced up at Cellophane in worry since it seemed he was swaying in a dizzy manner while still holding her.
“H-Hanta? Are you okay?” She asked in concern, then smiled when the tape hero gave a shaky thumbs up to signal he’s okay for now
But Tetsutetsu was still enthusiastic with going on speaking.
“WITHOUT HER, WE WOULD'VE KILLED MONOMA OR BECOME A BUNCHA FOOLS LIKE HIM BY NOW!”
“Uncalled for~” Phantom Thief spoke up with a sigh, Star Stallion beside him with a weak smile.
Meanwhile, Shoto looked up at the screen with a frown, and Queen Bee (who returned from the nurse’s office and transformed) glanced up at him with a raised brow.
“Something wrong, Shoto-Baby?”
“I wonder if Yaoyorozu's plan will work.” Shoto replied with a serious look, his eyes showing concern.
“Her plan?” Queen Bee questioned as Ojiro glanced over at them as well.
“Why? What she upto?”
Queen Bee saw the look the red and white haired male had, wondering what was going on in his head.
"We'll start reconnaissance immediately!" Momo glanced over at Spilornis with a polite smile, "If you please?”
The Eagle Hero nodded before he looked to Dark Shadow attached to him, “Report back when you find the enemy.”
“Leave it to me~!”
The team of Class A watched as the shadowed being began flying off towards the pipes and such, their hearts anticipating anything from the other team and getting ready.
“Second chance.”
Neim twisted his bracelet as he activated his power, narrowing his eyes as he looked to Momo with a nod.
“Well done. Now, it’s their move.”
“They pretty much know what our Quirks are by now along with how some of your so called Miraculous work. But we've been improving on them and developing new moves. So they have to be ready for anything.”
Argent glanced over at Battle Fist as the rest of their teammates were hidden in their positions, while the two of them were standing together out in the open. Battle Fist turned to the other and smiled.
“That's why, first, they'll try for some recon.”
The two stared up at Dark Shadow towering over them in a huge form, and Argent was already pulling out four feathers.
‘May the best team win…’
Spilornis blinked as he glanced at Creati with a look of surprise, “Dark Shadow's found our opponents. It seems it is Argent and Battle Fist alone. They're located near the chimneys.”
The girl almost froze in place at that, frowning. ‘Why are those two together?’
“Focus, Creati,” Neim murmured as he glanced over at her, “The others must be hiding to tackle us into a trap. Don’t fall for it.”
“R-right…” She nodded before looking to her team while running towards Dark Shadow’s direction, “Quickly then!”
“…Why are you two just STANDING AROUND!?”
Dark Shadow roared as he grew bigger, reaching out to attack both Argent and Battle Fist, but the two dodged easily.
“I'll take care of whoever I can catch first!”
“I’ll leave it to you, Vantablack!” Kendo shouted, already jumping back along with Argent on higher grounds.
Pushing off from his hiding place, Vantablack blended into the shadows, then appeared to blend into Dark Shadow instead.
“Into the abyss~”
Watching Dark Shadow struggle and immediately flying back to Team A, Myst appeared beside Battle Fist.
“Go?”
“Go. Argent?”
“Time to go, my beautiful Amoks.”
Argent threw four bells on the ground as the feathers embedded into them, transforming into sapphire looking dogs. Closing his eyes, Argent took a deep breath before his eyes opened once more, showing his irises are now a mercury color. Letting out a puff of air, he let a gust of wind blow around them before it suddenly turned into a tornado, following after the amoks marching forward.
“Woah! That’s pretty cool,” Myst whispered, as she glanced at Argent, “Is this part of the Swan’s abilities?”
“Ah, from what I understand from Detty, the Swan Miraculous has the powers of the wind. Pretty much I can control the air around me. Thus, why it’s called the Wind of Change. If all else fails and my Amoks are taken down, my strong tornado is locked on anyone that’s not us, will capture them in the storm and be brought back automatically to our jail….not to mention I have a secret effect in place.”
“Oh?” Battle Fist wondered out loud as she looked at her partner once the ghost girl moved forward with the Amoks and tornado, “What sort of effect?”
Argent looked over at her and gave a quirked smile, “If you think Shinso’s Hypnotic Quirk was bad…”
“Fumikage….He…HE GOT ME!”
Cybear was quick to dodge, grabbing Spilornis out of the way in time while Dark Shadow was rampaging out of control. It was then Myst appeared, but she was pushed back by a green blur.
The ghost girl grinned at her brother, “Wow, Fury~ I didn’t think you’d tackle me first!”
The green ghost stared her down with a grin in return, kicking her off of him and flew up higher.
“This was a long time coming, sis~! May the best ghost win!”
“I intend to~” Myst teased back.
The two ghost teens then were speeding around each other, almost looking like two buzzing blurs as they fought in the skies.
Momo pursed her lips before she then spotted the four glowing blue beings coming at them, and she readied herself, “Invisible Girl! Cybear! Be ready! Neim, stand back as a last resort! Spilornis, you and Can’t Stop Twinkling push forward!”
Suddenly, the four beings stopped where they were, confusing both Momo and Neim.
“W-why did they stop?” Invisible Girl asked apprehensively.
But before anyone could answer, a gust of wind blew around them and suddenly Cybear and Invisible Girl were picked up from the air, screaming out in shock as they were caught inside the tornado.
“We better get away!” Momo yelled as she was about to run, but it seems the Amoks were blocking her way, “W-what?!”
Suddenly, Spilornis was using his new move Dark Angel Wings (a move that he learned from Hawks) to fly and grab for both Cybear and Invisible Girl, trying to pull them from the storm. But he was pulled in as well and felt his world spinning around.
“T-this is madness!” He yelled, suddenly feeling his head becoming lighter as he started laughing weakly, “W-what…what is this…?”
Cybear and Invisible Girl both were giggling almost as if they were drunk, still being up in the air with dazed looking expressions.
Neim felt himself sweat-drop as he watched his teammates in the tornado laughing louder and louder and looked to Momo in confusion, “What the…?”
“The Swan indeed is a terrifying Miraculous to use.”
Chat Noir tilted his head as he looked to Izuku questionably, “So it…does what exactly?”
“The Swan holder is able to influence the air around them. The Wind of Change.”
“The Wind of Change?”
Izuku nodded.
“Just as the name states, Argent can change the current flow of wind produced. But he could also pull the air out of the atmosphere. Basically? He is dropping down the level of oxygen by using the tornado. Meaning, anyone within the range gets their brains basically feeling like you’re tripping on drugs. However, the lower the oxygen level gets, the more easily Argent could just knock them out in seconds, ” Izuku explained as he was taking down notes with a hum, “In a way, it’s a god-tier ability. He can even pull your very last breath from you if you’re not careful. ”
Chat Noir gulped, and looked back at the screen to see Argent’s serious expression on screen.
‘He’s not gonna hold back, huh?’
“Second Chance.”
“Well done. Now, it’s their move.”
“Wait!”
Momo blinked as she felt the hand on her wrist and looked up to Neim in confusion, “Did something happen already?”
“It seems there’s an ambush waiting for us. Not to mention Argent has a few tricks up his sleeves.” The Snake hero looked to the Eagle hero, “Spilornis, pull Dark Shadow back!”
While he did look confused, Spilornis just nodded and called for his shadowed partner back.
‘Now that he has combined the Peacock with the Swan, he’s an even more dangerous opponent. I can even admit that is impressive,’ Neim hummed as he looked to Invisible Girl and Can’t Stop Twinkling, “You two. Be ready for a Navel Blast and Wrap Refraction!”
The two saluted while Neim looked to Momo with a nod.
Momo frowned before looking to the side, “Fury. Guard our flank. Neim and I are going to charge ahead instead.”
Fury peeked from the shadows with a blink, then pouted, “Aw, I was hoping to go toe to toe with my sister,”
“You’ll get your chance, but for now, just follow our lead.” Neim ordered before he spotted Dark Shadow coming back, but his eyes widened, “MOVE!”
“Fumikage….He…HE GOT ME!”
“SAY CHEESE!”
A yell from Invisible Girl sounded as a bright light flashed around them, and Can’t Stop Twinkling also shot off the laser from his belt. As Spilornis was calling for Dark Shadow to return to him quickly, a familiar figure jumped out from Dark Shadow and blending into some shadows nearby.
“So, Kuroiro was inside Dark Shadow!” Invisible Girl huffed for a moment while waving her hands, “So not fair!”
Neim glanced towards the distance and hummed.
‘Myst will be here soon along with Argent’s Amoks and that tornado. I suppose we’ll have to go for the direct approach for now.’
“Creati.”
Momo saw the outstretched hand, then grabbed for it with a nod.
“Ready when you are.”
The two then pushed forward, Fury flying over them as they left their other teammates to take down Vantablack themselves. Neim knew that with Spilornis facing off with Vantablack, there was a chance that Comicman and Shemage are gonna face Invisible Girl and Can’t Stop Twinkling.
‘This leaves Cybear against Pixie Girl. We really are pairing off with the perfect rivals.’
Suddenly, a magenta blur rushed above them, Fury disappearing with a yell.
“Myst got ahead of us…” Momo murmured as she looked towards where the ghosts headed off, frowning, “Does this mean that we’ll be up against Battle Fist and Argent ourselves?”
“Oh. That’s definitely the case~“
The two looked up to see Battle Fist flying in the air…but her eyes were glowing bright silver as she grinned down at them. Argent was behind her with both arms up, his eyes narrowed. From the looks of things, Neim figured that Argent was using his Wind of Change by floating Battle Fist with his powers and…did it seem she was bursting with power?
“You managed to work together and try and divide us. Bold move, and certainly unexpected,” Momo murmured as she stood her ground, Neim ready to twist his bracelet if needed when Momo grinned, “No matter. Because I expect the unexpected.”
“That’s funny.” Kendo laughed dangerously, “I said the exact same thing~”
Neim was about to twist his wrist but blinked when his hand suddenly was grabbed, and was lifted up in the air by both arms. He glanced up to see…two sapphire versions of Battle Fist.
“I figured you are using your Second Chance already. And that you have an hour time limit to use it as many times as you want. A very overpowered move, if I do say so myself,” Argent stepped forward with a tight smile, a waft of blue and silver mist surrounding him, “Then again, my powers are also quite the cheat code themselves. So why don’t we let the ladies fight their fight…and we fight ours~”
“Why doesn’t Neim use his quirk along with Second Chance?” Bonnie Blanche asked curiously, staring at the screen as it seems both Momo and Kendo were having a moment along with Argent and Neim.
“That would require him to get real close,” Shinso murmured as he observed their fight, “Although Felix’s newly acquired quirk is similar to Eraserhead’s, Felix has to physically touch someone to shut down their power.”
“Not to mention there is no way that Nathaniel will let him come close to him or Kendo,” Izuku pointed out as well as he smiled, “Which is why him having both long ranged Miraculous is quite OP…“
“Long range?” Chat Noir questioned, and Shinso frowned when Izuku continued happily.
“Nathaniel could easily summon anything with any random object and bring it to life. They could fight his battles for him. And with the Swan Miraculous…”
“He could keep any opponent at bay with his wind. But with Wind of Change, he could steal people’s lung capacity in seconds or worse…they go flying high with his storms.” Shinso finished and then pursed his lips, “Honestly, I’m sorta surprised that he’s going this far…”
“Nathaniel has always been the competitive type, event he doesn’t show it.” Izuku chuckled while tapping the end of his pen on his notebook with an intrigued look, “He literally takes people’s breaths away.”
Chat Noir and Bonnie Blanche shuddered and looked up at the screen, seeing Argent giving a maniac like smile while Neim was grinning back at him at the challenge.
“Damn. And I thought Izuku was the crazy one,” Chat Noir murmured, hand over heart.
Shinso looked at him and gave a wry smile, “He’s an artist. He’s gotta be creative.”
Argent tilted his head as he kept his arms up and released Kendo, who was twirling in the air and smacking Momo with her enlarged hands. He glanced towards Neim, who was just staring him down, as if calculating how to get out of this mess. The red head smirked at this, which caught the Snake hero’s attention. It was almost as if…
“Whack! Thud! Boom-Boom! Ahh! Bam! Crash!”
The walls around them started to rise, darkness falling around them. Screams from the other team sounded, and Neim almost had felt himself sweat with a wry smile while Argent just had a calm look, the smile on his face showing that he was in control of this fight.
‘They’re trying to box us individually so that one by one, we’d face the very people that are compatible to us in a fight. Kendo must’ve planned that out when Vantablack failed to fully control Dark Shadow.’
Neim realized that Momo was gone, possibly trapped on the other side of the big walls that appeared around them.
“As I’ve said before…” The Peacock and Swan holder spoke up as he stepped forward now, his Amoks still holding Neim still, “We fight our battle, while the rest of our dear teammates fight their own~”
“…You’re still not bitter about me besting you during our training with Sir Nighteye, are you~?” The blond taunted, raising a brow under his mask as Argent laughed.
“We both know we’re equally intelligent when it comes to battle strategies. Not at the same level as Katsuki, Marinette, Momo or Izuku, but we’re almost the second bests,” Argent was pulling a feather from his pocket, which turned into a dagger, “Nevertheless, I am curious on who’d win between us.“
With a snap of his fingers, Neim was released by the Amoks and Argent readied his weapon at him.
“So, with that said…why don’t we find out?”
Neim narrowed his eyes, before he snapped his head when he heard screaming from his female teammates (other than Momo) from the other side of the walls.
“Ah, I assume Shemage has activated her cluster of mushrooms by now,” Argent hummed, as he spun his dagger through his fingers skilfully, “She can release spores from her body and instantly grow mushrooms anywhere she wants. The more humidity in the air, the stronger she is. Which is where Comicman would come in. Other than trapping your teammates with mine for their own fights, he’ll just create a damp environment for the troop of mushrooms to grow and increase…which will give Pixie Girl her own advantage as well~”
Neim narrowed his eyes as he reached to fiddle with his bracelet, Argent tutting almost mockingly.
“You can use Second Chance now, but it would be pointless…”
“What do you mean?”
Argent grinned, “You don’t think I haven’t made counter-measures when using your Miraculous? That’s why it’s dangerous that me and Battle Fist are paired together. Because we both know how you and Momo are people that tended to overthink and psychoanalyse all possibilities. So what’s stopping us from doing the same?”
“…So in short…?” Neim’s smile sharpened, “You two made contingency plans to counter us…?”
“That’s right.” Argent smirked in return, “We called it the A-Z 100 Plans of Actions.”
Neim was quiet for a moment, and Argent tilted his head.
“So go ahead. Use your Second Chance. It will always lead to the many other plans I have to defeat you.”
“I have no idea where anyone is…I lost sight of Felix and the others are probably on the other side of the walls,” Momo murmured to herself as she looked around, “Their attacks were leading toward this specific outcome….”
Something came onto mind, and she gasped, jumping back for a moment.
‘Don’t tell me…!’
“We cut off the right part of the brain~”
Kendo’s voice sounded and Momo glanced up in time to see the red haired girl jumping out from her hiding and raising her enlarged fists to attack.
“NOW I JUST HAVE TO DEFEAT YOU WITH BRAWN!!!”
Momo was quick to create a strong shield to block the attack, but she skidded back roughly when her shield suddenly broke through. This shocked Momo to her core for a split second, eyes wide.
‘She crumpled the tungsten shield with one hit!’
“Nath-kun was right when he said to face you head on first,” Battle Fist’s eyes were still glowing, as she laughed, “He can be scary when planning. But, at least he’s given me an opportunity! I won't give you time to plan anything!”
Momo’s eyes sharpened as she summoned more shields around her, wincing when Battle Fist’s attack were rapid firing down on her.
“We can make this an endurance test if you want to~! But you have to use materials from your own body to create things.” Each words were spoken with Kendo keeping her punches up against the shields, smirking, “So there's no way you're gonna outmatch me, Yaoyorozu!”
Momo felt herself waver for a moment as she closed her eyes, just holding her guard as Kendo kept on attacking her. She was correct, she had no time to think, there was too much going on. If only Neim was at her side and summon Second Chance…but if she was still here and not back at the starting point, that meant…
Felix was in trouble himself—
“Second Chance.”
Momo blinked when Neim was in front of her with a worried look and she took this as a sign.
“…How many times now?”
The Snake Hero sighed, scratching his head, “I lost count at ninety nine. I’ve been going at it for so long…yet at every turn, Argent is ten steps ahead of me!”
Momo gulped as she glanced at her teammates waiting for them and felt herself sweat. Did this mean that with the combined minds of both Kendo and Nathaniel…they’ll lose?
Neim then explained each scenario when he used his Second Chance, which made Momo feel her heart falter. She knew Nathaniel was sharply quick-witted, despite that he would rather draw beautiful things on paper quietly and always had a soft shy smile when doing so. He was quite cunning when he wanted to be, something that surprised Momo. But it made their conversations even more interesting when they had tea together, especially when Nathaniel gave his own opinions during Momo’s guardian training.
’So he’s really going all out. Not to mention with Kendo as his partner, they’d be unstoppable.’
“W-what should we do now, Yaomomo?” Invisible Girl asked tentatively, already sensing how both her class rep and the snake hero looked troubled.
“…They think they have the upper hand just because Neim and I plan ahead and expect the unexpected,” Momo murmured as she then purshed her lips, then glanced at Cybear, “…Perhaps it is time we use both yours and Tokoyami’s special abilities.”
Neim hummed, “Right, I suppose Spilornis using Liberation would be an advantage.”
“He shall use it on all of us,” Momo stated, “If what you said is true, and that Argent is planning to separate all of us to face off opponents that would match us perfectly, then we’re gonna have to switch things up…”
“By doing what exactly?” Fury asked as he had his hands on his hips, “If Neim has tried to beat them ninety nine times and failing, what makes this hundredth time different?”
“It’s because I’m usually the one trying to figure things out. I-I tend to forget that I am on a team,” The Snake hero said honestly, pinching the bridge of his nose, “It’s why Argent could go against me so easily. Because he knows that you will depend on my knowledge and my use of Second Chance.”
“Then that means we should do the opposite of your plans.” Momo smile as she tapped her chin, “Alright, let’s all sit and talk once more. I want to get everyone’s suggestions this time around~”
Argent frowned as he looked ahead for s moment, watching his Amoks, his tornado and Myst leaving to go forth with their plans to chase after Dark Shadow. He didn’t know why, but he felt…uneasy.
“You never did tell me what the secret effect of your Wind of Change was?” Kendo spoke up curiously, peeking over at the serious faced dual wielding bird hero, “Is it something like Shinso’s Quirk?”
“No, but…”
Argent had a small smile before he then lifted his hands up in the air as a soft wind blew around them, closing his eyes for a moment and then opened them with a hum.
Kendo raised a brow at this gesture, tilting her head, “…So, you can paint with the colors of the wind?”
“Apparently Team A is strategising with their own ideas instead of just Neim’s and Creati’s. Interesting, I suppose Neim has figured out in his uses Second Chance that I thwart him each time,” Seeing the look of bafflement on the red haired girl’s face, he explained, “Gale Force is the secret effect I use. Basically, the wind blows to the direction I want and collects back conversations it picks up along it’s path.”
“Ooh! So it’s sorta like a game of telephone in a way!” Kendo clicked her finger with a look of amazement, “So you can pick up on what the other team is planning thanks to your wind blowing around them! Cuz their voices are filled in the air around them.”
“Exactly. It’s kinda a cool way of spying on them without moving an inch.”
Kendo stared at him for a moment, then frowned, “…Then why are you looking worried?”
“They suddenly got quiet. But there is no way Neim figured out my trick.“ Argent tapped his thumb over his lower lip, nibbling at the tip of his fingernail for a second with a contemplative look, “I have a feeling this is going to be a close one this time. But no matter, we’ll be ready.”
Argent waved his his hand for a moment in caution, tilting his head while listening to the wind blowing around him. Pursing his lips with a troubled look, he sighed and started to walk forward.
“Eh? W-where are you going?” Kendo questioned with a confused expression, wondering what Argent was up to now.
“Just…trying something out. Something tells me this time around is gonna be a challenge,” Argent looked back at her and smiled, “Stick with the plan. I’ll be right back~”
Neim sat himself on the ground as he watched everyone rush to get to their positions for the hundredth time, and closed his eyes with a slow sigh. He had to keep cool and calm. Otherwise, he knew that he will lose his nerve and accidentally trigger his finger to Second Chance once more. It was something that was pointed out to him by Tokoyami in his ninety seventh round. And so, Neim decided to go for another approach.
“So, what is the plan now?” Can’t Stop Twinkling asked nervously while Momo brought out what seems to be some sort of sack out from her body, “If Monsieur Neim is speaking the truth, then it’s hopeless…They won and we will always be behind.“
“Like Neim said, if I just use Liberation on all of us, we can actually fight the opponents we can easily take on rather than our formidable ones,” Spilornis stated as he pulled Dark Shadow to him and Liiri appeared instead, “Not to mention, we can witness Cybear’s first time in battle with her Miraculous.”
“I still think it’s a super cute attack…but will it work?” Invisible Girl asked warily, wringing her fingers together, “I mean what if this time won’t work either.”
“Then we’ll keep trying until we do!” Momo said confidently, giving a bright smile.
But then Neim raised his hand up.
“What is it?” The Everything Hero asked cautiously, but blinked when he grabbed her hand and started tracing his finger over her palm.
— I think it's best if we approach planning silently in this manner. I have a feeling the other team planted something or even assigned someone to listen into our conversations.—
Momo’s eyes widened as her brain snapped into over-drive. She started signing on his hand in return.
— I never thought about that. But perhaps that is the reason why Argent is able to thwart your plans each time. But you only just noticed now?—
— I will admit, I did notice something was up for a while after fifty tries, but I wasn't too sure. The tactics kept on changing for some reason. The last few times it was Myst spying on us or it was Shemege’s mushrooms used by Pixie Girl.— Felix paused with a frown before tracing his finger over her palm once more. — But considering you suggested we do things in a way that is unexpected and to use different ideas at the same time, I figured we do that with either writing it down or use this method to plan without being heard.—
Momo knew it was a good idea, and she soon turned to the rest of them to tell them what is going on and what is the next moves going forward.
Neim opened his eyes as he came back to reality.
‘Alright. Now the real battle begins.’
Argent frowned as he kept walking forward, not liking it was too quiet. Maybe it was because he thought his gale force would’ve given something by now. But no. It was almost as if…
Suddenly his eyes widened at the sight of Cybear running towards him while carrying Can’t Stop Twinkling in her arms. Thinking he was going to be attacked, he readied an object to create an Amok but blinked when they rushed passed him. Confusion spread over its face as he watched them go, but then gasped when he spotted Fury and Invisible Girl were going the opposite way of where Myst, the Amoks and his tornado were coming from. 'Are they deviating from their plans somehow? But they didn't SAY anything--'
"You look surprised Nath-kun..."
Argent raised a brow then glanced up to see Creati standing there with a confident smile, and he couldn't help but chuckle in return.
"Something tells me that you are trying to outplay me somehow. What? You're not going to face your biggest rival, Kendo?" He asked calmly, his eyes shifting to see Spilornis flying away. And no Dark Shadow.
“I’m afraid that my opponent shall be different. I hope you do not mind,” Momo stated seriously as she felt her quirk activate, pulling out a steel pipe and pointed it at him, “You said we needed to talk. Then let’s talk.”
“…Ha.” Argent let out a quiet laugh before brushing some of his bangs from his eyes and stared at Momo with a dangerous glint in his eyes, “So, what you’re trying to say is…I’m your target?”
Momo smiled softly, raising her pipe up in the air, “Expect the unexpected~”
Argent looked like something in his brain snapped for a moment, as he quickly pulled his twin daggers and jumped in the air, going to attack Momo swiftly. Creating a shield for herself with her other hand, she raised it up to block his hit. It was like fire was burning in between them as Argent kept on swinging his hits over and over against her shield, even trying to make use of his winds to place more pressure into his swings.
But once he made a powerful hit against her shield, he managed to push her back far enough and he was about to give the final blow, but his facial expression turned from triumphant to bafflement as soon as he saw what Momo suddenly created out of the blue—
“IS THAT A CANON?!”
Everyone in Class A and B looked at the screen in awe, although Class B looked more horrified while Class A looked impressed.
“IS SHE INSANE?!” Tetsutetsu yelled out with his jaws dropping, and he whined afterwards, “WHO'S SHE TRYING TO KILL WITH THAT?!”
“Again huh?” A boy named Sen Kaibara spoke up with a whistle, blinking with a look of amazement, “That girl really likes her cannons.”
Meanwhile, Queen Bee glanced over to Shoto and saw how he had a proud smile on his face, and something in her stomach twisted for a second. Huffing quietly, she turned back to the screen to watch, ignoring that throbbing in her chest. It’s not anything important…right?
Argent growled as he jumped back and made a vortex of wind surrounding her, trapping Momo inside as he tried to catch his breath.
‘What was she trying to pull with that kind of stunt?! It didn’t look like she was aiming for me though?’ Argent’s mind raced but then it clicked, ‘Was she aiming for the wall or something?’
“I apologize for threatening you. You were right about before…”
Argent raised a brow, “…What do you mean?|
Mom smiled weakly as she had her hand over her throat, knowing she didn’t have much breath left, ”…I am scared. I do think about letting down those around me. Especially when we lost Onez and Bridgette.”
‘Is she really going to be talking about this right in the middle of the fight?’ The red headed hero thought with a frown, as his winds wavered for a moment, and Moto caught on.
“But then thing is, Nathaniel, I was never meant to be a Guardian of the Miraculous. In fact I know someone else that deserves it more. And so…” Momo coughed as the wind was sucking the air around her, but still aimed the canon straight at his direction, despite the wind blocking her way, “When this turned into the kind of fight that you're good at, I could tell my defeat was likely. So, in order for us to win...!”
"ARGENT!”
Something rushed by the two bird wielding Miraculous holder, and his heart jumped at the sight of Battle Fist jumping in the air, and Argent took the wall of wind down in time for the red headed heroine to use her Double Jumbo Fist to smack the canon to the side…
….but that resulted Momo jumping her surprise attack on Kendo instead of Argent, her intended target.
Argent rushed over as he looked at the sight before him, “Kendo…”
Kendo grinned up at him tiredly, groaning as she looked at the sticky webbing that was stuck on her.
“Heh, better me than you, right? I think she predicted you’d call her bluff and place the wind wall down to attack her yourself, but luckily she got me instead. Good thing I knocked her out, but not before she got me.”
Momo was hanging off of the other girl, unconscious but still buzzing with her quirk on the sticky substance and the canon glued on her and Kendo. Argent had to admit…that was a close one.
“So it’s kinda why we’re stuck together. She could have done me solid and let the cannon fall off. It's hard to drag all of this stuff around.” Kendo groaned as she wriggled for a moment.
“Here, lemme help you out,” Argent was about to reach out to her, but Kendo shook her head, “Wha—?”
“You don’t get it. There’s no time left,” Kendo warned with a serious look, “Looks like Team A made some sort of secret plan that even your winds couldn’t pick up. All our teammates were knocked out with them.”
Argent looked confused for a moment before Kendo explained.
Myst frowned when she looked around the area for a moment, expecting Fury to be flying at her with vigor, but no sign of life was anywhere at all. She even had to pause, making the tornado and Amoks following her also stop in their tracks.
“Funny…Argent assured us that I’d be seeing Fury by now, and possibly that bird guy and robot girl—“
It was then she sensed movement behind her and she whirled around him time to see—
“HEARTS ATTACK!”
Comicman had a question mark over his head as he looked to the distance for a moment, hearing Myst’s cry and rushed over to the source of the sound. He felt his stomach go into knots as he looked around, but then felt something drip over his shoulder. An exclamation point formed over his head before he slowly looked up, seeing Myst but…it seems she was trapped inside a pink heart shaped bubble. She looked dazed, having a dreamy smile and staring off into space…it confused Comicman for a moment.
“Woah, this is really creepy—“
“There you are…”
Comicman squeaked as a comic bubble appeared over his head to form both a question and exclamation mark in surprise, turning around to see floating gloves forming into fists.
“Finally! Fury dropped me off to assist Twinkling to take down the others. SO I’LL BE THE ONE TO TAKE YOU DOWN, YOU MANGA JERK!” Invisible Girl yelled at the top of her longs, already throwing hands at him and beating him up.
Pixie Girl frowned as she was high in the skies, about to call on her teammates when she saw Fury floating before her and raised a brow, “…I thought you’d be aiming for your sister…”
“That was my plan…” The green ghost sighed before he grinned, “But a wise leader told me, I should probably do the opposite of what I want. And would’cha know it, it’s gonna be taking YOU down. You’d be pretty powerless without your magical partner, huh~?”
That comment ticked Pixie Girl off for a moment, as she laughed while cracking her knuckles, “Oh I can assure you, I am TWICE as strong as Sorcerer!”
Phasing out from the shadows, Vantablack appeared shyly towards the mushroom heroine, looking unsure.
“H-Hey? Komori?”
Shemage looked over at the other for a moment in confusion, stopping her spraying around the area of pipes and walls, tilting her head, “Hm? Speak up, silly, I can't hear you!”
He looked flustered for a moment, before sighing and looking to the side, “U-Um, well I…managed to catch the guy. Twinkles? He's in jail.”
Shemage smiled brightly, impressed and clapping her hands together.
“Really? Nice, Kuroiro! I'm counting on you for the other two toadstools.” She giggled as she then turned back to her spraying and hummed, “Our not-so-fungus opponents don't know where we are, so we can keep attacking them with mushrooms like this!”
Vantablack nodded, “Y-Yeah…of course…”
Although he was skeptical at first, he ended up going with the plan because Kendo trusted the new guy. When Dark Shadow didn’t come like they suspected, he was glad that they managed to capture at least one from Class A. But when Kendo left their side, saying that she needs to check on Argent, something in his stomach tightened. Like a bad premonition.
“Uh. Hey. Komori?”
Noticing the nervousness in her teammate’s voice, Shemege looked up, “Yes, shroom?”
It was then they noticed a chill in the air, and Vantablack felt the gut feeling increasing in a way that was hard to ignore. There was no way…
“You don't think, um…” He paused, looking away for a moment before he spoke lowly, “Class A knows about this place, do you?”
The two squinted for a moment before they leaned back in shock, noticing that something dark was flying their direction. And lo-and-behold, Spilornis was seen flying majestically towards them, and he had some special looking specs over his eyes.
‘Thermal goggles! Much easier to locate our enemies when I have these.’ Spilornis thought, his red eyes soon flashed of something, “Now when I stare into the abyss, the abyss stares back at me!”
“It definitely looks like he's heading straight for us.” Vantablack murmured as he was looking around for a moment, “Where are the others…”
“D-Don’t tell me they took them down already!” Shemage whined, already stepping back.
“I will not allow you to escape or hide from the storm you have wrought!” The bird hero yelled as he increased his speed, Dark Shadow now cloaking around him, “According to Hawks......speed can easily win against strength.”
He soon zoomed right passed them, knocking them to the ground.
“BLACK ABYSS! SABBATH!”
“S-Shroom-y!" Shemege yelled out in pain, falling with a thud.
"Komori, no!" Vantablack yelled but then grunted as his mind raced, 'He's too fast. Can't stay. Have to sink into the shadows.'
“Is it darkness that you're searching for?”
The shadowy male of Class B blinked but then glanced up as darkness swallowed him up, gasping as he was suddenly trapped in…some sort of clock. He groaned in defeat as Tokoyami de-transformed in front of him, holding the clock down firmly.
“Then you can borrow my cloak. If there's nowhere for you to move, then there is no need to fear your abilities.”
“…N-No fair!” Vantablack huffed, sounding like he was pouting.
Liiri sighed as she landed on top of her holder’s head, breathing out softly, “Your teammates should’ve taken down their opponents by now, correct? So it should be find that Liberation is off them now?“
“Indeed. By now, Cybear must’ve captured Myst and Fury with Pixie Girl. All we have to do is now wait until Creati and Neim has defeated both Kendo and Kurtzberg.”
“Fumikage, I caught the spore girl!” Dark Shadow appeared, having Shemege wrapped around it’s wings.
Fury soon flew over to them along with Invisible Girl and Cybear, the three of them grinning as they held their knocked opponents. Pixie Girl was tied up with green ecto-like goo while Comicman looked beaten to a pulp.
“We did it!” Fury cheered as he felt himself power down as well, along with Cybear, “With this, we’re gonna be winners for this round for sure!”
“Do not celebrate yet, we still need to take them to jail and meet up with both Miss Momo and Felix,” Aeon spoke politely, making sure that Team B were to be tied down together.
“Aeon-san is correct. Quick, Dark Shadow. Take these the prisoners to—“
Suddenly, the bird headed boy stated coughing, alerting his teammates with alarmed faces.
“Fumikage—“
Aeon wrapped a hand over her neck as she coughed as well, feeling her throat tighten and her eyes blurring. Soon, Andy and Invisible Girl followed, the two coughing and trying to breathe and falling to their knees. Dark Shadow looked confused for a moment, and Liiri was flying around Tokoyami in confusion, asking what was wrong with them. Even Maato, the Bear Kwami that belonged to Aeon, looked concerned.
“Heh~” An evil giggle came from the mushroom girl as she stuck her tongue out playfully, her eyes sharp, “It's not a cutie. So I made sure to keep it hidden away until now.”
“W-what…?” Andy groaned as he soon collapsed on the ground first, and Hagakure followed after.
Aeon also fell unconscious, her breathing slow and Tokoyami struggled to get air flowing into his lungs once more, but couldn’t. He helplessly looked over at Komori, who was released when Dark Shadow was flickering in and out of existence.
“I'd be such a bad 'shroom if I didn't use it when we were about to lose, though~”
‘My windpipe…’ Tokoyami thought weakly, sweat poring out from his feathers as he fell on his knees.
Shemage grinned as she walked over to him, tilting her head, “Lungs feel bad? That's little Schizophyllum commune~”
Before she could say anymore, she squeaked when suddenly something knocked the back of her head and she fell to the ground with a thud, signalling she was down for the count. The tired looking Tokoyami looked up to see Dark Shadow giving their final salute, before disappearing and Tokoyami losing consciousness.
“So that’s what happened…”
Argent hummed as he tapped his chin, then looked towards Kendo.
“I did turn back to check on them just in case they needed help. I managed to free Vantablack, who was the only one that was still conscious, and told him to place our teammates in a safe hiding place and our opponents to the prisons.” Kendo finalised as she then sighed, looking at Momo still hanging off of her, “And then, this happened…Everything she created showed that she was looking ahead. Covering her bases. Which is why I said that only you and Neim are the only ones left standing.”
“…Huh. So it comes down to this.”
Kendo raised a brow before she felt him tap her shoulder, then felt herself fluster when he smiled.
“You know you could’ve just helped Vantablack take the prisons back while I dealt with Momo and Felix. But…I thank you for coming after me anyways,” The red head said kindly, really appreciating his partner.
Battle Fist rubbed the side of her neck with her good hand, laughing a little, “W-well of course. We’re teammates after all. Gotta have each other’s backs.”
Argent nodded before he then looked towards the other side then started walking.
“H-Hey? Are you going to face off Felix-san now?” Kendo asked.
The Peacock and Swan holder looked back at her, then smiled at her innocently.
Although she knew it was anything but innocent.
“You guys paved the way for me to end this grade finale. I might as well do my part, hm?”
Neim still had his eyes closed as he waited, just taking in slow and deep breaths as if he was meditating. He felt a gust of wind blow around him, but he did not panic. Instead, he opened his eyes slowly and saw Argent standing right in front of him with a fake smile.
“…So.” The red head started with a chuckle, resting a fist under his own chin as if looking down at him with a thoughtful look, “You thought you had me all figured out, hm? Tell me, how many times have you used Second Chance?”
“…This is my 100th loop,” Neim answered easily as he stood up, dusting off his pants before sighing, “I almost didn’t figure out how you were ten steps ahead of me each time. But I figured…it must be the Swan Miraculous that’s aiding you somehow,”
Argent gave a look for a moment, almost as if urging the Snake Hero to continue his words. But once he saw that Neim wasn’t going to continue, he scoffed.
“So? Aren’t you a little curious of what I can do? I mean, how I’m using the Swan Miraculous—?”
“No. I decided not to care.”
Argent felt his eye twitch for a moment at that, and Neim gave a grin.
“Ah,” The red headed hero sighed, as he was already pulling out his daggers, “You’re not fun. So? Are we going to “duke it out” or something?”
“Actually yes.”
Neim suddenly de-transformed for a second, but snapped his wrist again to transform once more and activated his Second Chance at this very moment. This shocked Argent for a second before he had to step back when the Snake Hero decided to rush forward to attack.
“Now that I managed to reset my Second Chance, we can keep on fighting forever until you yield~”
‘Blast it all!’ Argent thought as he blocked the attack with his fan, trying to swish his dagger to jab at Neim’s side, but Neim soon blocked that with his leg, ‘He’s not bluffing, I can tell. So even if I manage to get close, he might just end up using his quirk on me and take me down.’
He soon blew his wind to push Neim away, but his eyes widened when he saw the other twist his bracelet.
“Second Chance!”
“Now that I managed to reset my Second Chance, we can keep on fighting forever until you yield~”
Argent tried to attack this time around instead of blocking, even trying to summon his Amoks to his side.
“Second Chance!”
“Now that I managed to reset my Second Chance, we can keep on fighting forever until you yield~”
Argent made an army of Amoks to hold Neim down, but his eyes widened as he saw the hand reaching for the bracelet—
“Second Chance!”
“Now that I managed to reset my Second Chance, we can keep on fighting forever until you yield~”
Frustrated, he summoned a whirlwind of tornados towards Neim, hoping to blast him to the sky and let him drop—
“Second Chance!”
“Now that I managed to reset my Second Chance, we can keep on fighting forever until you yield~”
Neim paused as he finally (after ten more loops) managed to have Argent pinned down on the ground, already reaching to pull The Peacock and Swan brooches off of Nathaniel, watching him de-transform back.
“Looks like I win,” Felix stated as he transformed back and sighed, “I’m assuming Kendo is still conscious and maybe one or two of your teammates are not knocked out by my own. Therefore, I should go and check once I feed Sass and win this match—“
It was then he felt his world shift and felt himself on his back, staring up at a dead-panned Nathaniel staring down at him. It almost…looked familiar.
He didn’t have time to think as the Swan Miraculous was snatched out of his hand and heard Nathaniel murmured ‘Detty, Ethereal Winds.’ and suddenly Nathaniel was in a Swan motif.
“Shhh~” The red headed Swan Hero whispered as he placed a finger over his lips, then let the finger rest on top of Felix’s.
Felix looked confused at first, but suddenly felt an intense tightening in the chest for a few seconds, then the discomfort started increasing to his throat. Suddenly, he gasped as a wisp of air was slowly leaving past his lips, almost like a small tempest formed and exiting his being.
“STOP THE MATCH!”
Marinette yelled from the stands where the teachers, Nino, the Moonlight Hunters, Seraph, Miss Mermaid, Greenhorn and Peni were standing alongside her, and Marinette couldn’t really believe her eyes. She couldn’t believe Nathaniel was capable of doing something so…so…
Inhumane.
But before anyone could move, it seemed The Swan Hero snapped himself out of whatever trance he was in and quickly stopped what he was doing, Felix relaxing but passing out due to lack of oxygen. Amelie was quick to move and ask Star Stallion to take her to the battlefield, and Aizawa stating that the match was over.
Both Class A and Class B were silent from this, as Vlad King coughed and shakily announced.
“Er, Second match! C-Class B wins this round…”
Izuku pursed his lips as he close his notebook and took a breath. ‘It’s scary how Nathaniel could easily kill Felix if he didn’t snap out of it…although…I can already guess what’s going through his head…’
He watched the screen as Nathaniel de-transformed and moved away when Amelie showed up, her crying over her unconscious son’s body while the recovery bots came to escort them away to Recovery Girl. He even saw how Aizawa had approached Kendo and Kuroiro, explaining the situation to them. Izuku couldn’t help but look in sympathy when Kendo looked frantic and saying something to Aizawa while Kuroiro was looking sorta grey, almost akin to being pale.
“This is bad…”
Izuku glanced over at Hitoshi, who looked sort of put off.
“…Are you afraid?” He asked the purple haired male as the hypnotist froze.
Hitoshi frowned, as if insulted, “I’m not afraid of Nathaniel. I’m afraid how everyone else is going to perceive him now.”
Izuku didn’t think about that.
He dared to look around and saw that even Nathaniel’s own class looked a bit frightened. Tetsutetsu didn’t have anything to say this time around, and even Monoma looked wary enough that he didn’t have it in him to shout his praise in his class’ victory.
Izuku sighed. ‘Of course Shin-kun would know this feeling better than anyone.’
“Nathaniel is still Nathaniel. I don’t see why we should think otherwise.”
Izuku and Hitoshi looked up in surprise when Chat Noir spoke up angrily, fisting his hands together.
“If people have a problem with him after this, then they are just a bunch of two-faced hypocrites!”
“That’s right!” Trickster Tails said in a huff, hands on her hips, “As if we don’t have powers that we almost used in fights against bad guys that seemed extreme! Hello! Chat Noir uses his Cataclysm on the daily—Ah! I mean, glad to have you on our side Chat, you know what I meant—“
“I mean, I use my Clout a lot on bad guys too. It’s just one punch and WHAM! I send people flying,” Rayures also spoke up loudly, as she looked to Cellophane, “S-So, would that make me dangerous?”
“Wha—?” The Tape Hero looked confused before he looked sheepish, “Oh! Of course not! I mean, it’s your quirk—Power? I guess?”
“Let’s not forget what I can do…” Dynamight stepped up as he let his explosion pop off in his hands, tilting his head in a bored fashion, “So instead of looking so damn afraid of what that bird can do, worry about yourselves. What he did was just a way to win this match, nothing more.”
Izuku smiled a bit, knowing that his his childhood friend was aiming this conversation to those that thought badly of Nathaniel, and was relived that the blond was taking Nathaniel’s side and defend him. In his own way, he supposed.
He even glanced over at where Marinette was at, his eyes softening as she looked flushed and ashamed at having thought otherwise. Not that he could blame her, but he sure hoped that this was a lesson they all needed to learn. That there will be circumstances that would lead them to choices that might seem immoral…but are the only ways to reach a better future.
Nathaniel looked down at his hands, holding both the Peacock and Swan Miraculous that seemed to be mocking him with the way they glinted under the sun’s rays.
“Hey…”
The red head looked up from his place to see Kendo approaching him along with Liv and Holly, who had woken up thanks to Shemege’s quirk of mushrooms that bring people back from slumber.
“…I didn’t think you guys would want to talk to me after what happened?” Nathaniel spoke quietly, almost scooting away as if expecting something to happen.
Kendo rubbed the side of her neck as she sighed, “Hey now, don’t look at me as if I’m going to beat the ever living crap out of you…kinda hurts my feelings, partner,”
Nathaniel blinked as he looked up at her in surprise.
“You…aren’t afraid of me?”
“Pfft,” Kendo laughed a little as she shook her head, “I might have been surprised at being told you practically AIR BENDED the life out of Graham de Vanily with that power of yours, but I knew that you weren’t trying to kill him. Because I know you would never.”
Nathaniel looked away, “I lost my head there. I thought…I wanted to beat him. To win, for us…”
“And we did win, thanks to you,” Liv said assuringly, sitting by his side and placing a hand on his leg, “If anything, we wanna say sorry we didn’t do much in helping our team win. If only I expected everyone else other than my brother attacking me,”
“A-and I know I shouldn’t have let my temper get the best of me too,” Holly admitted while scratching her cheek sheepishly, “I let that boy get to me about how I was dependent on Aster a lot, and it tripped me up. It was lucky that Kinoko managed to even the odds, just like you told her…”
Everyone looked to the side to see the mushroom girl approaching Tokoyami, lifting her quirk up and holding some sort of container to him as he was coughing for air.
“Sorry about that, Tokoyami. You want a cough drop?” She asked kindly, but Tokoyami was shooing her away.
“I don't need your pity.” He would state weakly, making her laugh.
“Fair enough. At least see Recovery Girl and get some medicine for your throat.”
“Kendo! Remember your surroundings. The same for you, Kurtzberg. Damage should be kept to a minimum. You will also have to tell Fukidashi this when he wakes up!”
Vlad King’s voice sounded at the monitors, and Kendo apologises, Nathaniel looking down once more.
‘What happened to me back there? All because I didn’t want Felix to win?’
He gripped the Swan Miraculous in his hand…and then, he noticed it.
The red head gulped when he shakily held the Swan Miraculous up to eye level, and he felt himself pale.
This Miraculous was damaged.
Izuku was about to get up to stretch his legs when he heard a female cough, trying to get his attention. He turned his head in surprise to see Marinette walking his way along with Nino, and he had a feeling on what she wants to talk about with him. The green haired male even noticed how Nino went to Eijiro and Kagami, and immediately clocked on what’s going on.
‘Ah. I suppose it was about time…’
“Izuku.”
The boy smiled at the pig-tailed girl, “Mari-chan.”
“We need to talk,” She stated, and she pulled him to the side for a moment, then deeply exhaled, “I…I’m sorry about what happened earlier.”
“No, I should be the one apologising,” Izuku stated as he and Marinette sat down together on the railings while they watched the teachers sort out the next match and even calling for a sort break, “I get that sometimes I tend to do things without consulting you or anyone else, or that I leave you out on information that probably wouldn’t make sense to you. But you have to understand that like you, I have to do it in the moment before it’s too late.”
Marinette did understand. She did, and she took another breath as she shifted in her seat.
“…You ever think about how much more responsibility we have now compared to before?”
Izuku blinked in surprise at the change of subject, then nodded slowly, “All the time. Back then, it felt like we could just wing it. Now, everything feels...heavier, I guess?”
“Yeah. Like, even the smallest of decisions seem to carry weight. Whether it’s being a Guardian, or just being a hero — it’s all on us.” Marinette stated as she reached up to touch one of her earrings for a moment, her eyes softening with some thoughts that weighed on her mind, "I used to think responsibility was just about doing chores or getting homework done. But now, it’s about doing the next right thing, saving the world and our future. To save everyone.”
Izuku hummed, closing his eyes, “I completely understand. Sometimes it's not even about what you want to do, but what you need to do…because people are counting on you.”
Marinette knew they were getting somewhere.
“Yeah. Responsibility isn't always fun, but it gives life structure. Purpose, even.”
Izuku opened his eyes now to look at her, “True. And I guess the more we take on, the more we grow. Ready or not.”
Marinette nodded, “Ready or not. But at least we're not figuring it out alone.”
She saw the way Izuku froze and her heart grew heavy. Ah, maybe it was good that Nino did talk to her before this. How did she not realise she wasn’t the only one that was agonising about everything, everyday. That there was someone else in her corner suffering alone in the silence. All because they didn’t want to bother anyone with the burden of knowing too much in so little time.
“Izuku…”
The green haired hero tilted his head, as if gesturing her to continue, and Marinette felt her eyes water once more.
“I want to sincerely apologize.”
“Eh?” This confused Izuku for a moment as he straightened up, and Marinette shook her head while raising a hand up to him for her to talk first without interruption.
“No, l-let me finish first. I…I know I’ve hurt you, and for that, I am truly sorry. It was never my intention to cause pain or disappointment, and I regret my actions deeply. I understand that words alone can't fix everything…but I hope this apology is a start. If you're open to it, I’d like the chance to make things right and rebuild the trust I may have damaged. Please take whatever time you need—”
“Marinette, you don’t have to apologise!” Izuku spoke up as he grabbed her hand, “I get why you are mad at me, really! A-and you have ever right to be—“
He then felt the arms wrapped around him and his eyes widened. He looked down at Marinette staring right back at him with a look of sorrow and regret.
“It wasn’t too long ago that we fought side by side in New York,” Marinette murmured, squeezing the hand holding hers, “We bonded. And so that means that I should learn to trust you even when things don’t make sense. You and Hitoshi both. This is why I want to apologize. You’ve already proven so many times that you have good intentions and…I know that I have trouble depending on people. That I’m not alone.”
Izuku pursed his lips, then leaned his forehead to rest against hers as he laughed quietly, “Seriously. I’m not holding any ill feelings of how you think of me. I know I tend to come off as someone that is holding too many secrets. But then again, I get what you’re saying. Because…I am the same as you.”
“It looks like Izuku and Marinette are talking again,” Kagami murmured as she watched the two talking and smiling, which made her sigh in relief, “It’s good that they made up. This was a long time coming, they should clear the air with one another if we are going to be working together.”
“Yeah. I mean those two hold in so much, I was afraid either me or Kats would have to talk to them,” Eijiro hummed but then tilted his head when looking at Nino watching them as well, “So? Did you talk with Marinette about what we talked about before?”
“She actually told me first before I could say anything, believe it or not,” The Turtle holder glanced at the two, “You two were right. But how did you know…?”
“It was something that I thought about for a while,” Eijiro shrugged as he had his arms folded, “Even if I took on the role as Guardian because Midoriya asked me to, it didn’t feel like I earned that spot. Besides, I feel kinda better if the responsibility goes to someone that might actually be worthy of it.”
“And you are worthy of being a Guardian,” Kagami argued.
“I agree with Kagami,” Nino nodded, but then hummed, “But I feel like something else is on your mind?”
Kirishima looked a little put out for a second, but then looked sheepish “Well I was thinking of maybe stepping down from being Guardian because…because I wanted to have more time to help Gami-chan.”
Nino looked understanding at this, “Ah I guess it would make sense that you’d want to help her investigate her mother and the rest of those adults?”
Kagami turned her head to look at Eijiro with a raised brow, then asked, “You want to help me find out more about my mother?”
“From what we’ve seen on TV live and online, you want to get to the bottom of what she’s up to, right?” Eijiro asked, looking over at her.
Kagami nodded.
“So what better way than to figure out a plan to spy on her and the people with her.” Eijiro stated, “Marinette and them had the right idea, but they went about it the wrong way. Which is why I think that maybe if I step down as Guardian, you and I could—“
“You don’t have to step down as Guardian for that,” Nino interrupted before placing a hand over his chest, “Look, I’ll talk to Master Fu about me becoming a Guardian…but don’t quit. Who says there has to be a limit to how many Guardians we have? Isn’t the point of having a New Order to lessen the burden?”
“Nino is right. And we do not have to rush on the plan on spying on Kaa-san,” Kagami added before she tapped her chin, “Not to mention we should inform Adrien as well of what we’re planning.”
“Yeah, you have a point,” Eijiro hummed, then saw Nathaniel was walking alongside some Bots that were carrying students to Recovery Girl, “Speaking of Guardians…”
“I should talk to him for this one. Dude looks like he’s got a lot going on,” Nino stated, leaving the two and walking over to Nathaniel, “Hey, man…”
Nathaniel looked up at Nino for a moment before he sighed, “Hey…”
“You okay?”
The red head shrugged, “Not really…I can tell everyone is now pretty scared to approach me now.”
“Nah, they just surprised you pulled that move at the last second, that’s all,” Nino noticed Nathaniel’s hand in a tight grip, “What’s that?”
“Nino…” Nathaniel opened his hand to show Nino the Swan Miraculous and frowned, “Apparently this Miraculous is damaged.”
“What?” Nino took the Miraculous off of his hand and looked closer, “Wait, how did we miss that this was broken like the Peacock?”
“It’s small, so it makes sense that myself and Momo did not check properly,” Nathaniel sighed, “Which is why I’m going to talk to Momo about it when she wakes up.”
Nino whistled, tilting his head while adjusting his cap, “Woah, imagine if Momo went ahead and used this Miraculous during the fight. Who knows what could’ve happened—ah!”
Nino felt himself sweat drop at the sight of Nathaniel looking gloomy, turning his head away in shame. Nino was waving his hands in front of him, trying to explain himself before Nathaniel stopped him.
“No. Maybe this is why Momo hesitated. It’s because her instincts are sharper than my own. Honestly, I was impatient and wanted to prove a point, it was stupid of me...” The red head moved his bangs from his eyes, smiling wryly, “It’s something that I should apologise to her for when I see her. But honestly, I wonder if she wants to see me after this…”
“Hey, don’t say that. She’s not gonna hold this against you dude. Like, you guys are pretty tight, close even,” The former DJ stated with a smile, patting Nathaniel’s shoulder, “I’m sure once you two get talking, everything will work out. She won’t be mad at you so easily, since she likes you and all.”
“What?”
Nino squeaked before whistling innocently before walking away robotically, Nathaniel blinking when he started running. The artist thought that was weird, but then looked down at the Swan Miraculous, glad that Detty wasn’t summoned at the moment so he could think.
But how in the world did he and Momo both miss that this Miraculous was broken?

A post that's very much related to a separate post that's been going around the graphic side of Tumblr. (To the person that made the original, this is not in bad taste. I'm just stating opinions of my own and opinions that others may have in common with me. I genuinely have no intent on trying to make you look necessarily bad in any way. The first half is just kind of me rephrasing the original post because I thought it had a good point, but that point got lost along the way.):
Make a pretty blog because: you enjoy making it, having one makes you happy, looking at it comforts you, etc.
If making a pretty blog doesn't feel like something that would be worth your time or would make you happy, then don't.
Just have fun and be yourself, there is no standard to meet and you having a "non-aesthetic" blog doesn't reflect on you. People are here for YOU, not your blog aesthetic.
That being said, to anyone and everyone who DOES have an "aesthetic" blog, that's cool. I hope it makes you happy.
And I hope that some people realize that making and decorating a blog, even if it's super "aesthetic," IS a way to express yourself. Art is self expression, fashion is self expression, music is self expression, even book covers can be self expression. It doesn't matter if it follows a color scheme, maybe that's just what you like and what feels right.
And using myself as an example because I'm sure I'm not the only one, I don't make my blog appearance for ANY of you. I'm sorry. It's for me, because it brings me comfort. I like having a pretty blog because it helps with my anxiety, I enjoy looking at it, and it feels more like mine. And also, there are so many blogs I have made that I find "aesthetic" that are on private. They could not be less for followers or status.
"It's just copying" (<- paraphrasing here.) No idea is original. Listen to me: no BOOK idea is entirely original. Every story has technically been done before in one way or another. Does that mean the author has no personality? Does that mean the author has no creativity or is just trying to seem cool? No. There is no such thing as an entirely original thing. But they we're expressing their talent and what they like to do. Let people have fun, let people do what they want.
This same argument can and does happen in the artist community, the writing community, and every other form of art. This is not a new argument, it's just a slightly different context. If this was applied intensely to everything, no one would participate in hobbies anymore.
I love everyone who doesn't have "aesthetic" blogs. I love everyone who does. And yes, some people with pretty blogs get followers more easily, but those followers have minds of their own. If they realise "hey, this person isn't actually all that great of an individual," then they'll unfollow them. A color scheme and some pngs don't earn love and forgiveness. It's all for enjoyment and fun.
Please do be yourself. But be yourself in whatever way works for YOU. At the end of the day, it really is just pixels. So the appearance of your things or how cool you seem DOESN'T matter. But take that again with the context of this post: the appearance of your things or how cool you seem DOESN'T matter. So do what you want.
I am very aware that this post is much less than perfect. There are definitely parts that I could've phrased differently, and things I could've added to convey the message better. But I hope you can understand what I was trying to say. Thank you for your time if you read this far, and if you have any comments or things you would like to add on to improve this, please let me know. And it's more than likely that I'm wrong about a lot of this, and this entire conversation is up to debate. If you disagree, then please discuss it publicly because I think this is an interesting debate and I would love to understand more than my biased stances allow me to right now. Again, thank you so much for your time. Have a lovely day. <3

7 - Not So Peaceful Afternoon
Part 8
Dr. Redheaded Neighbor
If y'all have any ideas my ask box is always open Tag list - send an ask to be added @annieradcliff @watermeezer @zaidatorcuatomorgado
“I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. He’s my brother and you’re my best friend who hasn’t met you in the entire time we’ve been friends.” Will had been trying to convince me to go meet his brother for the past few weeks after the ED shooting.
I had been living in his apartment and been keeping my most important valuables from my apartment even though I would still go back and forth to take showers and get new clothes. But in all honesty the whole situation hadn’t been as bad as I figured it would be. I didn’t want to feel like I was invading his personal space.
Currently there was a thunderstorm going on outside of apartment building. Maxon was laying beside me on the couch and Will was sitting up on the other side of me. “Will, I know you want me to meet him and I do want to meet him. But I feel like he’s going to take our current relationship the wrong way.”
“I mean he’s my brother and he’s always joked with me about different things. But if you’re worried about what he will think of you then I can say you shouldn’t be. From where I stand you’re amazing in my eyes.” Will sat down one of his favorite Irish author books he was reading shifting his body to slightly face me.
I lightly blushed turning my head away from his gaze. “Will, stop it.”
“You’d rather I lie?” He asked me.
I shake my head no correcting him. “That’s not what I’m saying.”
“Then tell me how you really feel.” He pressed on with those puppy dog eyes he could give me and I’d cave in a matter of seconds.
I run my fingers through my hair feeling myself getting embarrassed since we don’t really have conversations like this with each other. “I don’t know what to feel. I haven’t exactly ever talked about having a serious relationship with someone. I just don’t want to embarrass myself when I might not have an answer back or be able to correct him without getting embarrassed.”
“If you’re worried about making a good first impression, don’t be.” Will scooted closer to me on the couch raising his hand and brushing some fallen hair out of my face. “I’ll be there and just pretend that you’re talking to me.”
My eyes fixated onto his that hadn’t moved away from mine the second he said the world to me. “Will.” I mumbled lightly under my breath.
I knew that if Raegan could see our current position right now she would say for us to just kiss right. It was something I had got myself wishing for a time or two but I’d never be so reckless or brave to make the first move. “Mallory – ah crap sorry I should take this.” I swore he was about to lean in and maybe kiss me until his phone suddenly started ringing.
Will got up from the couch going into his bedroom to take the phone call and be the considerate roommate he has been. My phone vibrates next to me where I had to answer it seeing my other best friends name pop up on the screen. “Hey Raegan, what’s new with you?”
“What’s new with me. Absolutely nothing. Now let’s switch the subject to the person who’s moved in with her very attractive ED doctor who she has been living with for the past couple of months.” She instantly turned the call into a video one.
Covering my face with my hand I threw my head back on the couch. “Rae, are we really going to talk about this again?”
“It’s the only thing interesting of our lives. So yes. Now spill I’m begging you.” She gave me the puppy dog eyes on the video call.
I sat up with Maxon coming to snuggle up into my lap. “Look I’ll just come over to your apartment and explain everything that is really going on between us rather than tell you over the phone.”
“Sounds like a plan.” Raegan hung up the phone.
The bedroom door cracked open for me to see Will coming back into the room. “Hey Mal, I’ve got to go to the ED. We’ve got multiple so I’ve got to leave you for a few hours.”
“Don’t worry, Will. I’m going to hang with Raegan for a little while anyway. How does some deep dish pizza sound for dinner.”
He shrugged his jacket and grabbed his keys before we made our way into the hallway and walked down the stairs since the elevator was currently getting maintenance on for the afternoon. “You know how I love that pizza. I’ll never turn it down.” Will held the door open for me and Maxon walked ahead of us.
“Get in and I’ll drive you two.” Will reached his car where we all got into the car driving to her apartment building.
Getting out of his car I waved bye to him heading up the stairs outside the building. “I’ll come home with pizza, promise.” I held up my pinky and he looped his with mine before letting me leave.
Maxon made his way down the second floor hallway that she lived on sniffing the carpet until he lifted his head up and bolted past her door to the door at the end of the happy. He began scratching it with his paws so I went to see what he had found. “Find something, boy. We can ask Rae about it. Come on let’s go – woah Maxon!” I tugged on his dog collar and he snapped his head back going back to trying to get through the door.
“Hey there you guys are. I was being to get worried.” My friend popped her head outside of her door a few doors down the hall.
I pointed my thumb over my shoulder asking her. “Sorry. Maxon thinks he’s found something. Do you know who lives here?”
“Wish I could say yes. But no I only know whoever it is keeps to themselves like all the time. I’ll see if I can get them to answer.” She came to us and started knocking on the door getting no response. “Hey! Is anyone in there?”
Sniffing the air lightly I swore I was smelling smoke coming out of that apartment room. “I’m calling 911.” Drawing out my phone I dialed the number hearing an operating machine.
“911, what is your emergency?”
I explained to the operator hearing a scream come from the hall. “I can smell smoke in a locked up apartment room in the Royal Eastwood apartment complex – get help here immediately.”
Spinning around on my feet I saw the apartment door and Raegan went to step inside before a sudden explosion went off and launched her into the wall. Maxon began barking and leaped inside the room hearing a baby crying. “Help is on the way.” The phone operator informed me.
“Rae, hey look at me.” I bent down to my friend who was barely keeping her eyes opened. I scanned over her body seeing that she was bleeding from her lower stomach. “I need you to put pressure on the wound okay. Help is coming.”
She gulped doing her best of what I said before I got to my feet leaving her. “Go find Maxon – uh.”
Slowly walking into the room I wished I had grabbed my gun from Will’s safe before I left so I had it in this moment. “Maxon!” I called his name with my hands up to my mouth not seeing him in the living room.
Entering the small kitchen area I finally found my dog by the nearest window and he was laid down in front of a crying baby. Bending down on a knee I picked the infant uo in my arms seeing another body laying a few feet from us who was a guy who must have been the father. Yet now he looked to be dead from the gash coming down his chest with blood caused by the explosion. “What do you think caused this explosion , boy?’ He got up from the carpet floor heading over to a stove top showing me a pack of cigarettes and I could smell some gas still inside the stove.
“We’ve gotta get out of here.” I told him seeing some smoke building up in the burner and a tiny flame forming. Maxon barked and we ran out of the room with flames blowing up behind us causing our bodies to both collapse onto the floor.
Lifting my head up I saw the baby was still in my arms thankfully and began crying loudly. “I hear a baby crying in this room!” A male voice met my ears before I saw a guy covered in firefighter gear coming over to me and another behind him.
“I’ve got a baby and my dog should be beside me.” I coughed out a response seeing some black smoke slowly filling the air making it hard to breathe.
The other firefighter spoke helping me up to stand where I nearly stumbled. “Don’t worry, ma’am. We’ll find your dog.” We went into the hallway and I saw where Raegan was now only had some blood but she must have already been taken outside.
The firefighter opened thr window in the hallway and one of his teammates handed him two harness sets. “Give me the baby then I’ll come back and take uou down.”
“No. It - we don’t have enough time before another explosion goes off again.” I cut in eyeing the harness he had in his hands until I yanked one of them from his hands.
He went to interrupt. “Ma’am, you can’t do down by yourself-“
“Make sure your partner gets my dog out. He is the most important thing to me.” I snapped back wrapping the first rope around my waist and then the two over my shoulders and connecting them together in the middle of my chest. “I am a retired Army veteran so show me some respect. Now help me get set up to go down last or I’ll figure it out myself.”
He nodded climbing through the window with the baby and clipping my clip on the rope then sliding down to the trucks and ground. The other guy came in shortly with Maxon in his arms. I couldn’t see his tail wagging and he had some ash sticking into his fur so he was clearly not in good shape. “We found him, ma’am.”
“Take him down immediately. I’ll follow afterwards.” The first guy that found us in the room didn’t fight against me. He hooked himself up and slides down the rope. I sit down on the window sill placing my hook on the rope line before I gripped the rope with the gloves they had given me to put on so I didn’t burn my hands. Climbing fully outside I didn’t dare look at the ground and just counted to three before jumping. “One – two – three ahhh!”
While I was sliding down the rope line the building window suddenly had another explosion going off behind me. A blonde woman ran towards me catching my body against her chest and unclipped the straps from around my body. “Are you hurt anywhere?” She asked me.
“No. I’m okay, I just need to know if my friend and dog are going to make it.” I responded to her.
She leads me by the arm towards the ambulance and she helped me inside where I saw Reagan passed out on the bed hooked up to some liquids. “Casey, bring over the dog!” She called before a firefighter with blonde hair and blue eyes came over to us carrying Maxon in his hands.
“He should be fine once he gets rest and some fluid in him. Nothing seems to be broken or bruised on him.” The firefighter laid Maxon down in my lap. “He’s a brave dog.”
“And you are probably one of the most reckless people I have ever met. What you did took guts that you clearly have. If I ever see something come up I might find you. What’s your name?” Her blue eyes focused on mine while she smiled. “I’m Sylvie Brett. Brett with two T’s. Nice to meet you.”
“Mallory, Mallory Easton. Me and my dog Maxon are retired Army veterans.” I asked seeing she was about to close the ambulance door and got inside the back with the three of us. “Could you do me a favor and take us to Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. I know one of the doctors there.”
She nodded checking on my friend. “Thank you for your service. Both of you.” The ambulance began driving off to the hospital.

#1: Origin Story
Five Years Ago…
It's funny how quickly a day can change. All it takes to turn an ordinary Tuesday afternoon into the first day of an entirely different life, apparently, is your mom knocking on your bedroom door and saying "can I talk to you about something?"
Little did Hope know as Emma came in and sat down on the bed next to her that this was one of those conversations.
"What is it?" Hope asked, her mom looking at her with a bittersweet intensity she didn't understand. "Is something wrong?"
"No." Emma smiled, shaking her head as she tucked a strand of hair behind her daughter's ear. "You're just growing up so fast."
"Yeah." Hope shrugged.
"And now," Emma shook her head, "you're gonna be a teenager soon, and things are gonna start changing. Your…."
"Oh my gosh, mom." Hope interrupted. "I don't even know what 'the talk' is, but I know I'm not ready for it now."
"Good," Emma said, "but this is a different talk. Over the course of these next few months, you're going to be developing some… powers."
"Powers?" Hope's nose scrunched up.
"Yeah." Her mom nodded.
"You mean like flying and invisibility and laser eyes?" Hope asked. "Like the heroes on the news?"
Emma laughed a little and nodded. "Exactly, like them."
Hope had always looked up to superheroes, wanted to be like them— what kid hadn't? Now that she found out she was like them, it all sounded so great— a little too great to be true.
"How do you know?" Hope asked.
In lieu of an answer, Emma pointed at Hope's nightlight on the other side of the room. The nightlight turned on as if in response, casting projections of dozens of multicolored stars onto the ceiling.
"Woah." Hope looked up, awestruck. "How did you do that?"
"Can you keep a secret?"
She turned back to look at her mom and saw a beam of light shooting from her hand, something she'd seen before, not from her mom, but from a superhero she often saw on the news.
"Saving Grace?" Hope asked. "Mom, you're a superhero?"
Emma nodded.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Hope asked.
"Being a superhero isn't as glamorous as it sounds." Emma said. "There's a lot of responsibilities, some that you can share, and some you have to bear by yourself. Hope, no one can know about my powers, or yours. If you tell anyone…."
"I'll put them and myself in danger, I know." Hope nodded. "I've watched enough movies to know that much."
"Good." Emma said. "And you need to make sure to make the right choices with how you use your powers. It took me a while to realize mine were a gift instead of a burden."
"I understand." Hope said. "What powers will I have?"
"I can't be sure," Emma shook her head, "but supers often inherit traits from their parents."
"Parents?" Hope asked. "Is dad a super too?"
"Super, no." Emma said. "Hero, yes."
Hope then remembered Saving Grace's partner in crime-fighting, Captain Guyliner, a powerless superhero with a high-tech gizmo for a hand and a clever one liner always at the ready.
"My dad is Captain Guyliner?" Hope asked.
"You catch on quick." Emma patted her on the back.
Hope suddenly wished she could forget all the comments the older girls at school had made about their "heartthrob hero," Captain Guyliner, suddenly disgusted at the mere thought of their catty giggles.
🩷•⚡•💛
The fort in the backyard had been Hope's space to think since the day her dad built it for her. From there, she'd launched all of her childhood adventures, from huge ideas like lemonade stands and sleepovers to little things like playing pirates or princesses or, ironically enough, superheroes.
"Pink leader to Gold leader," Hope said into her walkie talkie, sitting on the fort's worn out carpet. This had always been her place to run to, and there was one friend she'd always run to it with.
"This is Gold leader, clear."
"We need to regroup." Hope responded. "This is a code… orange."
There was a moment of silence before he sent back a reply.
"Code orange? We don't have a code orange."
Hope rolled her eyes. "That's how you know how important this is! It's something we never could've possibly planned for, at least not enough to make a code for it."
"Wouldn't that make it code perriwinkle?"
"Just get over here."
"Over and out."
Hope closed her eyes and hung her head against the wall, wondering if she'd open her eyes and find that it'd all been a dream. If it was a dream, then dream-Gideon would need to hear all about it, and if she remembered it and it didn't get too weird, she'd tell real-Gideon about it too.
Either way, real-Gideon was gonna hear about it. She'd never kept a secret from her best friend in her life, and that wasn't gonna start now.
It was only a few minutes before the door to the fort opened, and the boy with shaggy gold hair and a wrinkled brown flannel over his t-shirt joined Hope on the floor— their fort had more than enough chairs for the both of them, so it must be really important if they both understood that this was a conversation to be had on the floor.
"What's so important you had to make up a whole new color?" Gideon asked.
"I didn't make up a color." Hope said. "Orange has been a color since we were in kindergarten, but probably longer."
"Okay," Gideon said, "but what's up?"
Mom had told Hope not to tell anyone, but Hope had been told that lots of times before, and it never stopped her from sharing with Gideon.
Besides, this was life changing, and Gid would notice if something this big in her life changed. It was better to tell him about it up front then have to explain it all later when he found out anyway.
"Can you keep a secret?" Hope asked.
"Of course." Gideon said. "And not just because you're the only friend I have to share it with."
"And what about if we stop being friends someday?"
"That's never gonna happen." Gideon said. "And even if it did, your secrets are still safe with me."
"Okay." Hope said, "I… I'm developing super powers."
"What?" Gideon asked.
"Super powers." Hope said. "You know, like Saving Grace, or Red Wolf."
"Really?" Gideon smiled. "Code orange isn't code for 'april fools!' right?"
"I'm serious, Gid." Hope said.
"Okay." He said. "What powers do you have?"
"I don't know yet." Hope said. "My mom said I'll start seeing them within the next few months."
"That's awesome." He shook his head in disbelief. "My best friend, Hope Swan-Jones, a superhero! How'd your mom figure that out?"
It was one thing to spill secrets about herself with Gideon, but it was another thing entirely to share secrets about her parents. Right now, her powers were still developing. They might not amount to much anyways, and she hadn't made any enemies yet. This was a secret she could share.
But her parents were practically celebrities, as far as heroes go, and that comes with a lot of enemies. If any of them found out Gideon knew their identity, they could use that to hurt them, or to hurt him, and he didn't have powers to protect himself.
"I don't know." Hope shrugged. "Moms just have a way of knowing these things, you know?"
"I guess I'll take your word for that." Gideon looked away, scratching the back of his neck.
"Oh, Gid," Hope said, remembering no sooner than the words were out of her mouth that her friend didn't know about that first-hand, "I'm sorry, I…."
"Nah, I'm sorry." Gideon shook his head. "This isn't meant to be a pity party. This is exciting— you have superpowers, Hope. We could save the world, be heroes…."
He turned to her and suddenly stopped, his words caught off track as he squinted at her.
"Why don't you seem very excited?"
Hope shook her head. "All this 'great power; great responsibility' stuff. Being twelve years old is hard enough as is."
"Yeah." Gideon said. "We're too young to drive, and too old for the McDonald's playplace."
"And now I have this added responsibility, and…."
"And you don't have to bear it alone." Gideon said. "I'm here to help you, and so are your parents."
"You can't let my parents know you know." Hope said, quickly remembering her mom's warning. They said I can't tell anyone."
"We've all heard that before." Gideon said. "And as always, your secret is safe with me." He held his hand out to her, pinky finger extended. "I promise."
She wrapped her pinky around it as well, sealing a promise of friendship neither of them would ever dare break.
