Hyena jaune and lion yang would hate each other but they like each other but must keep it a secret

In the African savanna, there are two animals constantly at odds with one another. The African lion, often symbolized to be associated with kings, with lionesses who fight fiercely to protect their cubs and sisters for the sake of their male leader, and the Spotted hyena, the top scavenger with an appetite for rotting flesh, where the lowest ranked female ranks higher than the highest ranked male. Both animals compete for food to the point of developing a natural animosity with one another. In some cases, hyenas will specifically target lion cubs and elders, while lions will maim hyenas with mortal wounds and leaving them to die.

Though not the same as their animal counterparts, two clans of faunus which share these traits compete with each other over the continent of Sanus. The Xiao Long clan, whom value loyalty, honor, and justice, reside on the island of Patch, under the protection of the Kingdom of Vale. The Arc clan, whom value freedom, community, and legacy, reside to the south, in the shadows of Mountain Glenn, in the village of Ansel, not bound by the laws of any one kingdom.

Would it be possible for these two clans to be reunited under the banner of one? Perhaps, long ago, before the raids began. Raven Branwen, the leader of the Branwen Bandit Tribe, attacked the Arc clan for their resources. However, when they sought retribution, the Xiao Long clan protected her. A child of the Arc clan was killed in the assault, and the Arc's sought the death of Raven's child, who was held in protection by the leader, Taiyang Xiao Long. He refused, declaring that any who made an attempt on him or his kin would suffer greatly.

This is when an unknown member of the Arc clan made the attempt on the wife of Taiyang, spurring the clan head to declare war on the Arcs. Bloody combat was engaged for days, even weeks on end, until the Arc clan was forced to surrender before the might of the Kingdom of Vale. However, the Arcs vowed that one day, they would see the end of the clan of Xiao Long.

"Are you sure you want to do this?"

"I'm sure, Mom." Jaune nodded, taking the hug from her and hugging in kind. "This is something I have to do."

His mother looked to his father. "If... If this doesn't work out, then there's no shame in coming home."

Jaune frowned at this. Were they expecting him to fail? To quit when things got too difficult for him? A part of him wanted to shout at his parents for insinuating this was what they meant, but he instead chose to keep his mouth shut. Especially with his mother as the clan matriarch. Punishment for a man contesting with the matriarch was harshly dealt, regardless if the man was correct.

Besides, deep down, he knew they were right.

"Jaune?" He looked to his mother. "Be careful. Please?"

"I will, Mom." He smiled before he turned and left to board the bus. He sat in his seat and looked to his family waving to him. His mother, his father, his sisters, his aunts and uncles. They all waved him off, to which he waved back. Next stop, the bullhead. And from there, Beacon.

"Yang," the eldest daughter of Taiyang looked to him, "there's someone here to see you."

Standing next to him was her mother, Raven, her hand resting on the pommel of her sword. Same as always, she didn't have a smile on her face. She'd never seen the woman smile, but that's also a slightly unfair statement since the woman was never around for longer than a day since Yang was old enough to notice. Maybe even before then.

"Yang." Raven greeted, entering Yang's room. She looked around, as if she were judging Yang's choice of decorum. "KickerZ?"

"What do you want, Raven?" Yang replied.

"You're going to Beacon."

"Yeah? What about it?"

"I went there, too, a long time ago."

"What, and you're choosing to offer me advice now when I'm about to go?" Yang stood up, doing her best to keep her temper reigned in. "Because the last we talked was... Wait, we never talked. Because you were never there."

"I was busy."

"Being a thief?"

"Bandit."

"Right, because that's so much better." Yang rolled her eyes. "Why are you here, Raven? Don't tell me it's for a hug goodbye because I'm not hugging you."

"Be careful."

Yang blinked. She didn't expect Raven to offer caution, partially because in all the stories Dad told about her, Raven usually was the one to disregard such warnings. It would be sweet, if it came from anyone other than Raven.

"I will." Yang crossed her arms. "I don't make the same mistake twice. Especially with the Grimm."

"It's not the Grimm I'd be worried about." Raven stared at the KickerZ poster with a muscular blond man with fangs and a tail. His eyes were as blue as hers... "You know about the Arcs?"

"A bunch of bandits south of Mountain Glenn." Yang said off-handedly. "Friends of yours?"

"No." Raven turned away, walking out the door. "I mean what I said, Yang."

"Yeah, I'm sure you did." Raven then left. Yang stepped out shortly after, but found the woman had already left without a trace. No trace, that is, except for a single black feather. Probably fell off of her while walking. Did that woman ever change clothes, or bathe? Yang didn't want to think about it.

Mostly because she needed to meet up with Ruby before they left for Beacon together.

Context: Yang and Jaune are chilling in the commons room.

Jaune: "I wonder if anybody here would even date me."

Yang: "I'mma be real, VB. You have a vibe that makes it feel wrong to do anything other than marry you."

Jaune: "…Wait, what?"

Yang: "I'm not saying this as an insult, though. It's just…you give off 'saving himself for his one true love' type of deal."

Yang: "You're a sweet dude, don't get me wrong. But, thinking about you in any way other than 'married life with a few kids and a pet' just feels wrong. Like, I feel like I'm committing a sin for doing that."

Jaune, now very confused: "I don't know what to make of that."

Yang: "You're a Sheppardist, right?"

Jaune: "Yeah, why?"

Yang: "You know that story of...fuckin' whoever where they died due to poisoned clothes?"

Jaune: "Saint Alcides, yeah."

Yang: "Wanting to do anything that isn't 'consummate love in candlelight' or 'give you pizza and a Director's Cut DVD' is essentially how that feels for basically anyone who knows you for more than ten minutes."

A Fond Farewell

With Rooster Teeth beginning its draw down, an era has truly passed. The company has lasted more than two decades. 18 (soon 19) seasons, five mini-series, and cameos and references in Halo itself for Red vs Blue. 9 volumes alongside two movies, a chibi series, Ice Queendom, and its own games for RWBY. And so much more beyond that, RT Shorts, podcasts, Achievement Hunter, The Slow Mo Guys, and on and on. That’s a lot, especially for a little startup launching off a web series. I was listening to “This Isn’t Goodbye, It’s See You Later” by Richie Branson while I was making this little memorial post. It’s a song made for another Rooster Teeth show, Camp Camp, and I have to say it’s some very appropriate music for this moment.

The day the news dropped, I wrote up a little comment in response to Rooster Teeth beginning its closing down, and I thought I’d share some of it here. I grew up with Rooster Teeth, a bit of a cheesy line I know, but it’s true for a lot of us. I was just a little kid way back in the early 2000’s, a kid that liked Halo (a game I didn’t even own for a long time, but played at a friend’s house), and was just getting curious about what I could find about it on YouTube. And that brought me into the world of music videos and skits and montages made for that little game I liked.

From there, I discovered a small web series called Red vs. Blue. I’d sneak onto my folk’s computer to watch it since they didn’t appreciate the language, and in doing so I dipped my toes into the wide world of the internet for the first time. As I got older, I eventually hopped onto Reddit for its discussion threads of Rooster Teeth’s latest show, RWBY. I began my first in-depth fandom interactions, speculating about the show, enjoying the flood of fanart, even got into fanfics about RWBY (those fics have had their own amazing evolution alongside the show) and to this day it’s the fandom I’ve followed and bookmarked the most fics from. All the while I was making friends and bonding with people through the community this company and its shows have created.

Watching the shows and people grow over time was, looking back on it, just like watching myself grow. I was never really a social media/internet kind of guy, until it came to Rooster Teeth. The shows, shorts, podcasts, it all opened up a whole new world for me. It’s sad to see it coming to a close, and I hope it gets picked up in the future. But I’m happy, too, that it’s left so much behind, and had such an impact on me. It’s left me with so many good memories. Rooster Teeth, its shows, those that created and worked on it, and above all the community around it will always have a special place in my heart.

So, I bid a fond farewell to Rooster Teeth and its crew, and anyone who may drift away from the fandom in time. I wish you all the best.

A technologically-advanced city that was supposed 'encompass the true potential of humanity's progress', or something like that. What the brochures didn't mention was that the city was also designed siphon money and resources from the common people. The leaders were greedy and self-righteous, and their servants were naive and shortsighted. And when the borders closed, Atlas' culture of exploitation was turned inward, slowly destroying whatever facade of perfection the kingdom hid behind. Fittingly, the final blow would come from those most hurt from Atlas' selfishness.

"As it turned out, Atlas was merely the latest battlefield for an ancient war, fought between beings that saw the whole of humanity- and faunus- as their tools and weapons. Can you imagine what it's like? To realize that everything you've worked for, your blood, sweat and tears, was only a moment in time for some 'higher life-form'? Not a good feeling.

"But, just when things looked at their bleakest, we were given a way out. Teams RWBY and JNPR. They too were being manipulated by the war. But rather than remain puppets, they fought to alert the world, and found a way to save the people of Atlas from total destruction.

"Unfortunately, things didn't go smoothly. Thanks to enemy's infiltrators, the people are now stranded in Vacuo, the Kingdom of the Sanus Desert. RWBY lacks Bathos and that seems to bother people.

It occurs to me that this is another reason why the RWDE and so-called critics consider RWBY a good punching bag is summed up alot in Overly Sarcastic Productions’ video on Bathos. By this I mean that it’s unabashedly proud of being a web series inspired by Anime. While not every trope in the medium is used (luckily), it still indulges in a lot of cliches the medium is known for.

Also think about how sincere RWBY is. Ozpin’s grand speeches about the war and its aftereffects or even the human nature of fear. Salem’s monologue at the start of Volume 1 and end of Volume 3. Ruby’s grandstanding against Cordovin. Blake and Yang just... Blake and Yang.

There may be some goofiness along the way but it’s clear that the writers are not here to appeal to the lowest common denimenator like Warner Bros would’ve if the studio had control over it.

We all know how that went with Gen:Lock. :/

I find myself comparing to a lot of this to Red vs. Blue. While the latter was sincere and more deep down the road, it started out of as a dudebro-y type of comedy.

Said comedy would persist even as it would become more sincere such as with Volume 8 putting Sarge, Church and Wash’s characters to the test. The Freelancer flashbacks also dial back the slapstick to a near zero but still be keen to sling some zingers in battle.

RWBY doesn't start out as a parody of Halo or anything but is starting mostly from scratch and is largely unironic about what it wants to be. There are few times where you'd find RvB's style of college frat boy humor in RWBY if at all.

So a lot of the RWDE as well as non-fans sees them opening up their heart and seeing a target with an easy bull's eye.

It took Cardin only a minute or so to catch up to Jaune, who he found pulling his chainsaw-hand out of the ground the white eyed top half of a Beowulf head laying at his feet. The body just off to the side, with black ichor spurting from the gruesome wound.

Jaune: Are you good? You ready to do this?

Cardin just nodded.

Jaune: Remember, if they look like how your friends did... they're already dead. You're not killing them, you're ending their pain.

Cardin just nodded again. Jaune nodded to him and moved off, heading north, or what Cardin thought was north. He hesitated only for a second before falling into step behind him.

Ruby lay in the fetal position, as a black haired woman with cat ears tore the guts out of her sister. Yang had rushed to her aide, only to be overwhelmed. Her screams of pain had only just ended. With blood dripping from her hands, the thing hissed at her, and started to move forward.

Between them, Weiss stood. Her eyes wide with panic, and her hands shaking as she tried to hold her rapier steady. The whatever it was closed, a wickedly twisted and malicious grin on her face.

????: I am so going to enjoy ripping your heart from your chest... Schnee.

Weiss: (Her voice wavering with fear) Stay back! I'm... I'm warning you!

????: (Laughing darkly as she closed even more) You can't stop us. You are nothing, all of you are nothing but flesh and souls to consume!

The blast of a pink smoked grenade, tossed the twisted form of a faunus backwards tumbling through the air. It landed in a heap and remained still.

????: That's for Rennie!

The orange haired, gore streaked woman closed on Weiss, her weapon never straying off the crumpled form. Weiss' breath still came in ragged gasps, as the other woman, finally, took a place right next to her.

????: Are you okay? I'm Nora, by the way.

Weiss: Weiss Schnee, and I... I don't know.

Nora: (Pointing towards the whimpering form of Ruby, with a movement of her head) What about her?

Weiss: I don't know.

Nora: We need to get out of here, like now.

Weiss: I need to check on her (pointing with her shaking rapier towards the sprawled out form of Yang.)

Nora: Ah, her intestines are all over the surrounding ground... I don't...

Weiss: I think she was her sister. I have to check.

Nora: Okay. Be careful.

Weiss nodded and with hesitant steps approached the form of the blond haired woman. Weiss was pretty sure there was nothing she could do for her, but still she had to make sure. Once she was close enough, Weiss reached down and gently pressed her slim fingers against the woman's neck.

Suddenly the woman's eyes snapped open, and with a lightening fast twist of her head, she sunk her teeth into Weiss' wrist. Weiss screamed in pain and terror as she dropped her weapon and tried in vain to yank her hand free.

Nora: Weiss, get out of the way!

Weiss: I'm TRYING!

Weiss threw all of her pitiful body weight backwards. She didn't succeed in freeing herself, in fact, she did nothing but cause herself to fall to the ground. With a sickening fleshy tearing sound, the woman that was grinding her teeth into Weiss's wrist, pulled her top half free of her bottom half.

Weiss: I'm using a new conditioner, and I think it blends nicely with my body wash, lotion, and sanitizer.

Yang: Oh yeah, you can totally tell~!

Boys

Jaune: (Reading bottle) "Warning: Product has been tested on pigs and have been known to melt their eyes, causing permanent blindness."

Jaune: ...Eh, I'll be fine.

Jaune: Well that's the thing. As soon as I got this ring I was taken to this planet full of other Green Lanterns called Oa, and trained to use the ring by some scary yet cool guy called Kilowog. I heard there was trouble on Earth so I came by to help out.

Ruby: Good timing too. Kinda running on fumes now.

Jaune: Well take a breather. I got this, Ruby, Yang, Weiss and-... **Looks at Blake**

Blake: what? Why is he looking at me funny? Oh, it's probably my lack of cat ear-

Jaune: CINDER! **Makes a large cannon**

Yang Xiao Long-RWBY

Qualifications:

She is canonically wlw (has been for years but specifically kissed and got together with her now girlfriend in the latest season) and uses a prosthetic arm and has been shown to struggle with PTSD due to the traumatic nature of losing it during the show.

Canonically had her right arm chopped off, uses a prosthetic. Has PTSD. Is canonically in a WLW relationship.

She has a canon girlfriend and canonically has a prosthetic arm and PTSD

She's canonically sapphic (part of a recently canonised wlw slowburn relationship) and is an amputee (due to events from the 3rd season finale) who wears a robotic prosthetic. She also suffers from PTSD which is explored in the show

Propaganda:

I will keep on submitting Yang to relevant brackets until I die. RWBY has plenty of strengths and weaknesses with writing, especially Yang's recovery arc, but instead of forcing her to push past her trauma and enter the battlefield immediately, we see her struggle with it, take time to process, and not be pushed into repression and when she chooses to wear her prosthetic, chooses to train to ready herself, and chooses to seek out her family and save lives, she isn't perfectly healed, as no one is. The show depicts her having flashbacks due to sudden loud noise, shaking hand the first few times she has to fight for her safety instead of training with her dad, and snapping at friends when they bring up Blake, the person she lost her arm trying to save (who, near immediately after ran away due to feeling she was endangering those she loved, furthering Yang's already present abandonment issues.) It isn't done perfectly but the intentions and general message sent are extremely positive and honest. She struggles less as the show progresses, and there are opportunities to consider herself less for being disabled or "become whole again" but she explicitly refutes these ideas and says that's she's better because of her failures and losses, and isn't any less whole. Her becoming disabled is also extremely tied to her being LGBT, because, as previously mentioned, she lost her arm protecting her then friend and partner, now girlfriend, directly after the villain who cut her arm off told her love interest that he would "destroy everything [she] love[s]. (Camera pans to Yang, he looks at her.) Starting with her." LIKE. He attacked her BECAUSE Blake cared for her so much and Yang ran to her defense blindly BECAUSE she loved Blake so much. When they reunite, they struggle with communication because Yang feels Blake is seeing her as weak, and through several things, mostly a climatic battle against the man who severed Yang's arm, they affirm each other as equals. I can go on but this is already too long. YANG SWEEP!!!!!

Yang lost her arm while protecting her best friend and future girlfriend from said girlfriend's abusive ex. Had a whole arc about learning to live with that loss and dealing with PTSD. Is totally devoted to and in love with Blake Belladonna and is just the sweetest but most badass character in the show.

She's one of the main characters, and just finished a 10 year slow burn romance. Plus, she has both physical and mental disabilities, but is never treated as lesser or incomplete.

Yang Xiao Long was one of the first examples of a sapphic character I ever saw in animated media with her character journey in the show being an iconic part of my teenage years and current young adulthood. The loss of her arm after a traumatic event in the show's 3rd volume was one of the big shockers of the show that nobody saw coming. Since then the show has done an amazing job in exploring both the mental and physical effects of her losing a limb, gaining a prosthetic arm and the recovery journey. Her character also has a major arc regarding handling her PTSD from both this and her past most notably in the 5th and 6th volume. Her character also has a slow-burn romance with her teammate and fellow main character Blake Belladonna which is one of my fave romances ever (it has everything: canon soulmates, friends to lovers, sunshine x grump,battle couple etc..) that has recently became CANON BABIEE!!! There are MULTIPLE characters in RWBY with various disabilities that are handled well in the narrative but i would say Yangs definitely the top FAVE!
