Curly had two days to act and Swansea had two months.

I think it’s just interesting that every defense of Swansea not immediately acting are the same ones that are argued against for Curly. “He didn’t want to alert Daisuke or makes things worse for Anya either Jimmy!” I mean people also assume that about Curly and the crew. “He has to think about his plan of action and a right moment!” Again so did Curly, power and authority aside, he still would have to think of what he had to do. “He makes sure he doesn’t have to be around Jimmy!” So did Curly and they only do this to an extent, both give Jimmy more than a few opening to keep harassing Anya.

This isn’t defense of Curly nor a damnation of Swansea. Their actions are very parallel to each others in tragic and sour ways when it comes to how they approached helping Anya. In the grand scheme of it all they both did the same thing: Nothing. No action either took stopped the inevitable outcome of her death nor Jimmy’s continued damage to themself.

The only real difference is Swansea didn’t like Jimmy which is pretty substantial, but also just as damning as Curly knowing how bad Jimmy could get to an extent. He had even less of a reason to wait, even more of a reason to act seeing as he was now worried for Anya AND Daisuke. He is not bound by the possible procedure as Captain and actively does not care about what happens next. So what does it matter if he acted in the moment? Why did he wait? I think he’s just as morally complex and grey as Curly and we hold him on a pedestal that still perpetuates things in rape culture the game critiques.

It’s not just enough to dislike and be abrasive to predators/abusers like Jimmy. It’s not enough to just put yourself between them and the other person. It’s not enough to hold tensions when you know someone is vulnerable. He and Curly do the exact same things but on different sides of the coin. I ask how is it better to not turn a blind eye but still not really do anything about what you are seeing? Not until it affects you atleast…

The game makes a big point to not put men doing the bare minimum or who wait to do more on pedestals and I’m actually surprised so many are missing that point.

here you go. first one is obv at the scene . second is at some point @ 13. i imagine they strongly encourage men keep their hair short being a militaristic society and whatnot. couldnt get him to part with the facial hair though . anyway his hair would be relatively grown out here. iirc katniss says his eye doesnt sustain any permanent damage or whatever but i do think the nerves in his eyelids are kind of affected so that eye has a little bit of a squint even after the scars fade

Since it's not going in my article due to space constraints, i'll share a bit about Jane Manning James here. It won't be superfleshed out atm bc it got cut. I plan to do more later. As I am *Reorganized*, writing this for a Community of Christ publication, i researched Ld-S shared history to the point of Nauvoo. my article doesn't follow west (technically). the main resource was an LDS one (thank you v much for your freely available archive) asking about her time with the prophet of the Restoration.

Jane Manning James

A significant Black Latter Day Saint from the early church was Jane Manning James. A woman from Connecticut notably made the walk from Buffalo, New York to Nauvoo, Illinois on foot, with most of her family. This was only after being separated from the group of recently converted latter day saints in Buffalo, possibly due to their race. Jane was baptized in 1842 by missionaries in her home state of Connecticut. She recorded these things about her journey and arrival to Nauvoo and her faith when asked to recall her life living with Joseph Smith in 1905.

“When I went there [Nauvoo] I only had two things on me, no shoes nor stockings, wore them all out on the road… They [Joseph and Emma] was looking for us because I wrote them a letter. There was eight of us, my mother and two sisters and a brother and sister-in-law, and we had two children, one they had to carry all the way there, and we traveled a thousand miles.”

She was sure in her belief of the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ and Modern Prophecy. She says in her recollection, after seeing that Joseph Smith Jr was indeed the man in her vision in Connecticut, that “This is the Gospel of Jesus Christ and there will never be any other on earth. It has come to stay.” Sister James would later go west with the saints under the leadership of then Apostle Brigham Young.

thank you for the example set Sister James on faith, dedication, and perseverance. She also had spiritual gifts, such as speaking in tongue and faith healing. She believed following the gospel, knowing it was a key to a better way of living life (for her.) it wasn't easy for her, and yet, i think the faith community i observe today (and mormonism in general) is better, just for her having lived it.

may she be at peace, and in a manner God, Sister Jane herself, and her family she led that meant so very much to her, see fit.

Cherry. (Man, this is going to need some tag rambling; because while it's what I suspected and it's very fitting in many ways, I need to address one element).

I don't know to be honest, but here we are. Much like the cherry, you're a sensual person who enjoys all the creature comforts the world offers. You enjoy delicious food, dynamic relationships, passionate lovemaking and stimulating conversation; however, you may also come across a touch vapid or shallow, due to your quickly fading attention when something has served its usefulness to you. To quote some man on tinder: "you're here for a good time, not a long time". You can come across, at times, slightly tart, carrying a bit of a bite to you that not everyone can handle. That’s okay: you’re an acquired taste!

The concept of Ghost Amber will not leave me alone, so I give you this:

After being tormented by Amber and his subconscious through the end of s5, House goes to the psych ward to get rid of “The Amber Hallucination” once and for all. He thinks he’s finally succeeded and put it to rest when he comes out in s6… only to finally return to PPTH and have Ghost Amber pop right back up while he’s talking to the ducklings about their first case back. She’s smiling like the cat that got the canary, smug that she actually drove him insane enough for him to come off of Vicodin. House, unnerved, thinks he’s hallucinating and tries to ignore it while throwing his tennis ball at the wall. Ghost Amber is not fond of being ignored, and so she reaches out and grabs the ball before House can catch it. Every single one of the ducklings watches with wide eyes as the ball hovers in midair for three full seconds and then drops to the ground.

(Wilson comes into the room a minute or two later only to find it eerily silent, and asks “why do all of you look like you’ve just seen a ghost?”)

it is sooo important to me that for as codependsnt as ven would be to vel she is equally if not more unhealthily attrached to him. her baby brother shes tormented since before they could remember. who allows himself to be oushed around. to sink to he rlevel and takr part in whatever weird little scheme she's come up with .

thinking so fondly about the interview at the beginning of the movie and her split second look of pity before pickkng up where veneer dropped the ball and righting everything. its one thing if SHES the one upsetting her brother, in fact its becomr soo second nature to her she doesnt even realize shes doing it, but someone else doing so sets something offf in her i know it . her ass was feeling some crazy white hot rage under the surface both at her incompetent baby brother being unable to answer a simple question and the GALL of kid ritz to put the two of them in that situation (but oh i looove her immediate damage control. having to logically aside...she loooves cleaning up after the mess shes made(of him)) . tbis cannot be the first time. there is something so sexual about him being unable to handle the pressure and her constantly letting him take the first hit. what is it girl. are you testing him? reinforcing how if it werent for you he wouldnt have all of this? is it just funny to watch?
