My take on this stupid trend

thinking about red vs blue is crazy because it's like:

this is a story about how you can't keep chasing ghosts forever. there's alien/human mpreg.

holding onto the past is holding you back - you have to learn to let go and say goodbye. ed robertson from the barenaked ladies plays a guy who (jokingly?) tells his soldiers that if he weren't their CO he'd make them call him daddy.

family isn't always defined by appearances and you may find it in those you least expect. the aliens speak entirely in blargs and honks.

everything we do is driven by love - love for your current companions and loves that have been lost along the way. it has one of the most intense and longest running queer-baits i've ever personally witnessed.

veterans aren't given the proper support to be able to return to a civilian life, and this systemic issue causes problems for everyone in all levels of society. there's a homophobic bomb.

you can't change what's happened to you and the ones you love; you just have to find a way to keep moving forward. one of the main characters only speaks in poorly translated spanish.

everyone has the capacity to change and be better. it has two (completely unrelated) insanely complicated time travel plots, and they’re both only dubiously canon.

it's an incredible piece of media and proof that you can create something magical with the limited tools available to you. there are chunks of it that are borderline unwatchable.

it's changed the way I approach storytelling forever. i can't easily recommend it to pretty much anyone.

As someone who grew up on Rooster Teeth, who consumed so much of their content during my formative years, today's news hits a little harder. I'm so upset for the people who lost their jobs and livelihoods due to this huge downsizing on WB part (not to mention the fact most of them found out through a twitter post!) - it pains me to hear that some of their projects will never get a real conclusion or that the hard work they have been putting in for years might be forgotten.

I'm holding out hope that there will be some sort of archival process or maybe the RT website will remain live so that people can watch what is there (maybe no longer behind a paywall?).

That being said, RT was never a perfect company and to pretend that it was is doing a disservice to everyone who has been hurt by the decisions of their coworkers, the treatment of BIPOC by the audience, and toxic work environment that surrounded their productions. We should not use this time to discredit those experiences, but remain aware that these situations can coexist simultaneously.

For the cast/crew/production teams that have led these projects, I am hopeful that this will not be the last time we see them apart of content. I know most people are concerned about the state of RWBY, RVB, Gen: Lock, etc, and I do think these IP's will be picked up. If we're lucky, they will be along with the teams responsible for them in the first place. But I urge you to not use this time to talk about these shows, but instead send some comfort to those who are now out of a job.

I love seeing RvB containment breaches because they are always the most out of context parts of the show.

Like, the Grimmons closet being brought up on a post about queerbaiting or Donut becoming Jesus that one time. It makes me really excited to see what the next big containment breach is.

Red vs Blue has many sins but I am willing to overlook all of them for the simple fact that they hired a woman off tumblr to sing a song for the end credits and she came in and performed the single most haunting, evocative cover ever heard by mankind

Due to how long it's going to take for us to get the full results done, we've decided it's going to be best to release them in batches so that we can start posting WAYYY sooner than we would if we tried to share everything all at once.

This batch consists of the more general demographic info that we collected, as well as all of the info regarding favorite seasons, favorite story arcs, etc.

So recently I decided I would start Red Vs Blue and binge the whole series….

And then proceed to find out that Rooster Teeth was shutting down, as I live under a rock

…but despite that, I’m still gonna document what I think about each season in small little increments ! Cause honestly… this show is really damn good.

Anyway, here are my thoughts

Season 1:

Whoever told me that Midsummer Night’s Dream is the best Comedy of Errors has NOT seen this show.

Also… I thought Caboose was the dumb one, but he’s not that dumb? Does something happen to him oorrr?

I take that back, getting horrifyingly traumatized by Sheila’s death and dealing with Tucker might ALSO give me slight brain damage.

At first I joked and said “ha! What if Tex and Church were gay for each other, and that’s why he lost his girl,” and like… I was kinda right! I mean they weren’t gay but they were (are?) in love with each other!

Also she’s a girl! Kinda expected it later but still, pretty neat!

DAMN DONUT HAS GOT ONE HELL OF A THROWING ARM!

Conclusion: I bet Sarge whimpers….

was searching for some rvb intro music on youtube to put under the beginning of this survey results video i'm working on, and accidentally uncovered a long-buried memory of when a PG cut of red vs blue aired on the el rey network stupidly early in the morning like 9 years ago, and subsequently laughed so hard i cried at this stupid intro they made for it

EDIT: Here's the two promos they made for it, i forgot they actually aired all the way up through chorus, too

I wonder if the PG cut still exists somewhere, that'd be fun to revisit

EDIT 2: So i've discovered that there may be two different censored for TV cuts floating around. there also exists a TV-14 cut of the show that can currently be watched on Tubi and Peacock, of all places. I don't remember the el rey version well enough to really know what the differences may be, but I plan on doing some more digging. will keep y'all updated.
