JInshi just could not resist from calling after the girl, who was carefully treading with a heavy bucket of water. And that’s exactly what happened; Hearing her lover and master call for her, Y/n had turned around in a haste forgetting all about the bucket in her hand, making the heavy wood hit her ankle.

A pained scream pierced through the Rear Palace and Jinshi had sprinted over to the girl who was now sitting on the ground, painfully clutching her ankle. “ouch…” she whined.

“Y/n, my love, I’m so sorry,” Jinshi apologized; he really was sorry. All he wanted was to chat (annoy) his favourite girl. He had not meant for her to fall. Of course, he wouldn’t! Had he known she was doing such labour, he would not have called after her.

But what’s done is done. There’s no point in crying over spilled milk.

Y/n put her finger on his lips, stopping him from continuing. “Jinshi-sama, we’re outdoors. It’ll be an eyesore if someone hears you,” she said softly. Even though she was in pain, she still smiled. The smile that made Jinshi’s heart skip a hundred beats.

With a heavy heart, he asked. “Can you stand up?”

Y/n scrunched up her face in pain, trying her best to stand. She could only rise a few inches off the ground before she fell again. Sighing, Jinshi slipped one of his hands under her legs, the other supported her upper half.

Slowly, the master carried his treasured servant back to his quarter.

After asking the Rear Palace doctor to put ointment on her injury, Jinshi and Gaoshun had left to give the girl some rest. It had not even been half an hour before a frantic Gyokuyou and her darling daughter Lingli almost burst through the door searching for her most trusted friend and servant.

“Y/n!” Gyokuyou gasped when she saw the huge swelling on her leg. “You must be careful while working, Y/n! What if—’ the scene before her had stopped all those words in her throat.

Y/n was sticking out her tongue as Gyokuyou reprimanded her. She almost sounded like her sisters. But she looked up in confusion when she saw the elder woman stop in her words. “Lady Gyokuyou…?’’

However, it was not the woman who answered Y/n’s unasked question but her darughter, Lingli. “Jinshi!” Lingli said happily.

Only then did she pay attention to the garment that was on her body. Y/n was in her white robes or the undergarment. The thing keeping her from the chilly atmosphere was the ever so familiar round-collared robe, the intricate golden patterns on the hem of the garment.

Jinshi’s robe! Shit!

While Gyokuyou intended to lecture the girl further, she just could not continue on after witnessing this mess. So instead, she hollered, “Master Jinshi, come here, this instant!”

As if by teleportation, Jinshi was present in the room along with Gaoshun. However, Gaoshun was not as fast as Jinshi, he walked into the room normally. Knowing Jinshi, everyone in the room knew he had his ear pressed against the door, eavesdropping on every word of the conversation that took place inside.

But Jinshi paid no mind. “What happened? Is there anything wrong, Y/n?” He asked; worry and hurt laced in his voice.

Gyokuyou sighed. “No. She’s alright. However, Master Jinshi,” She put a heavy hand on his shoulder, her eyes dark. “Perhaps you should put more consideration into your actions?” The tone was one of warning. Y/n almost felt like she was watching a fight going down between siblings.

“Huh?”

Smack. She hit Jinshi’s head soundly. Pulling him by the wrist, she made him stand before his bed which currently rested Y/n. Gyokuyou pointed at the robe on Y/n.

“What is this?” She demanded, She had calmed down a bit but still had that disappointed mother look on her beautiful face.

“Oh. So this is what the fuss is all about!?” Jinshi sounded dismayed. With a sigh, he plopped face down on his lover’s lap. As if on cue, Y/n smiling began to caress his hair; the action making Jinshi smile much like the other toddler in the room.

Gyokuyou was completely and utterly defeated. “Master Jinshi, I know how much you love Y/n, but you should be more careful!” She sounded just like a mother, Y/n thought. “What if someone else saw this instead of me?”

“Meh,” Jinshi retorted, still relishing under Y/n’s fingers running through his locks. “Her clothes were wet, she could’ve caught a cold. How could I allow that?” He finally looked up, a smug smile on his lip. “Moreover, you can’t deny she looks absolutely delicious in my robes. Mm. Maybe we should do this more often—‘’

They should have dwelled more into Merlin’s skills (and I’m not talking about just magic)

As I rewatched Merlin, I realised this man has so many skills?!

We often talk about how surely Arthur must have thought him how to use a sword (I agree 100%) but Merlin also knows how to hunt?

He dislikes it, yet years and years of going hunting with Arthur proves to be fruitful. Merlin founds the deer in season four before the entire Camelot patrol. He knows how to recognise tracks on trees and traces of feet in the mud (he knows how to build them in the right way with magic, too). And I have proof that Arthur teaches Merlin, because in season five, Arthur makes Merlin see what was wrong with the branch. when they went out and Arthur noticed that someone (Mordred) had walked past the woods.

Also, season four, episode two? Merlin wakes up before Lancelot and HE IS HUNTING FISH LIKE A MASTER?!

Have we talked about this? Who taught him? I believe most things he already knew how to do, since he grew up in a village with a single mother where everyone had to fetch up for themselves.

He also knows how to cook. And he gets compliments (even if they are jokes) from the Knights and Arthur himself too.

HE IS A PHYSICIAN, and I wished we could have seen so much more of that, because he is hot, because it proves that is so good at learning, listening and also teaching. He tells Daegal how to get rid of the poison, poison, in his body and HE IS STILL SO HUMBLE ABOUT IT?! He spent more than ten years being an apprentice and when Daegal tells him he is a good physician, Merlin denies it?! Bro has low self esteem.

Merlin also has all the skills required from a servant, like sewing, cleaning specific fabric in a certain way, polishing armour and so many other things, adjusting swords and weapons ecc.

I guess it pisses me off when Merlin is described (heavily in fanfictions too) like an incapable manservant, unable to do things for himself or defend himself without magic, when he spent ten years in Camelot doing new work after new work. Just because he was scared at the end of season five without his powers (because he had never lost them before) it doesn’t mean Merlin isn’t capable of using a sword, or help himself, since he does and challenges Morgana too, even without powers.

EDIT:

Merlin also knows how to use a crossbow and how to fight side by side with Arthur and he knows where to head, where north and south are, based on the scent of the air?! Merlin knows so many things.

Let's pause and give Cyril Tanner some credit for being a real one. Constantly woken up in the middle of the night to take Will, Jem, and Tessa on suspicious outings that Charlotte definitely doesn't know about, and he never even questions their bullshit coverup stories.

Cyril is also in such a messy position in London, because he's literally there to replace his dead brother. Will, Jem, and Jessamine grew up alongside Thomas; Charlotte and Henry semi raised him; and Sophie was his best friend for a year. Even Tessa barely knew Thomas, and she still thinks "he's just like Thomas" every time Cyril does anything. Cyril looks similar and acts similar and fits into the same role in the Institute dynamic, but he's not Thomas and doesn't know these people. They're all looking at him wishing he was someone else, and he's never gonna truly fill that gap because no level of similarity would make Thomas and Cyril the same.

I've been fixated on medieval beds for a while - massive, beautifully carved beds passed down through generations. The king's bed, only reachable through a series of increasingly private rooms - if you saw that bed, you were favored. And outside of sexual relationships, nobility in the past would share beds with others for warmth, company, or as a show of friendship/political closeness.

Delgal and Thistle shared a bed since childhood, but that habit was disrupted on the nightmare day when King Freinag died AND Delgal got married. Their living arrangements changed - Delgal moved into his father's rooms and Thistle was given his own room as a 'gift' to the new court sorcerer, but after a few weeks of unsettled sleeping apart, they went back to how things had always been.

The queen secretly believed that Delgal might have grown to love her if they hadn't gotten married on the day his father died. But they did get married on that day, and Delgal was never any more than Polite to her. She spent most nights in her own bed, her own rooms, instead of his. Separation was her normal, but it was a shock for Thistle. The rare times that Delgal invited his wife (or the various affair partners he had over the years) into his bed, he'd tell Thistle beforehand to sleep in his own room. Thistle understood that a husband has a duty to his wife and that Delgal had needs besides, so he tried not to feel hurt for being 'kicked out'. He usually failed and would stay up reading - Thistle had trouble sleeping alone, and he'd get nightmares most nights he tried.

It's a twisted mess! Thistle's emotional well-being was tied up in a single person once King Freinag died. He tried and failed to connect with people outside of Delgal. I have this conception of Thistle wanting to be the most important and only person in Delgal's life. In the past, he had enough self-awareness to know this wasn't reasonable, but he still felt it and didn't know how to live with it other than pushing it down. His controlling rage as the dungeon lord feels like all of this bursting out.
