First Demon Busters post of 2025 !!!! WOOO! Sorry this took so long, I had to go on a training arc to draw this plus I got really into HSR for a while , but now it’s here!!! Before I get into it I just wanted to thank you guys for 100+ followers!! Y’all are the best! Ok I’m gonna stop yapping.

For anyone who’s new here, in this modern kny x ghostbusters inspired au people have been dying to demon attacks at alarming rates and the Demon Busters (updated and rebranded demon slayer corps) need a way to get more people to call them. So, they run ad campaigns! But this isn’t about that, this is about our favorite duo, Tamayo and Yushiro!

Depicted above is the exact moment Yushiro tells Tamayo about Tanjirou and Nezuko.

In this au, Tamayo is a world renowned doctor and Yushiro is her assistant. They move from hospital to hospital not only to escape Muzan, but also to find a way to turn demons back human, and develop a drug to take down Muzan. They use the blood stored for transplants for sustenance so they don’t have to hurt humans, but they rarely need it.

Tamayo is well known for her vast medical knowledge and her ability to cure illnesses. She is also known for her beauty, but draws worried attention because she also appears to be sick. A doctor who can’t walk in the sun? How strange. And while Yushiro can disguise himself to look human, something seems off about him.

She is also the doctor that helped Tanjirou’s dad with his illness. Being an ex Hashira, he caught onto the fact they were demons pretty quickly. However, after some explanations he understood their situation (more on this later). She is also the first one to even mention the curse of the slayer mark, hypothesizing that it had something to do with Tanjuro’s illness.

Once Tanjirou becomes a Buster and Nezuko a demon, they run into her after an (unfortunate) altercation with Muzan, and recognize her as the doctor who tried to save their dad. Of course she is extremely concerned when the two reveal that Muzan attacked their town and vows to help them, leading to Tanjirou’s blood collection side quest (which is mentioned much more often). She tells them what she knows about the busters and about his dad as the previous sun Hashira. We also get the reveal that since sun breathing is very taxing on the body, Tanjirou is more prone to getting the slayer mark.

Yushiro also teaches Nezuko how to mask her appearance to be human, giving her one of his talismans to make the illusion more real. It works well for her since at the point of meeting them she has some sun tolerance.

Overall these two get much more screen time. As Nezuko’s condition progresses and as they make more progress on the anti-muzan drug and the demon reversal drug we get periodic check ins with them.

Post-war Obamitsu AU

I can't help but fantasize about an alternate reality where Obanai and Mitsuri survive and get into a relationship. I'd like to think their relationship would be flawed, but full of love. There is the initial trouble of Obanai surviving when all he ever wanted was not to, so they have to work through that. He will suffer shame and despair as a consequence, which will require a great amount of patience on Mitsuri's behalf. Added to that is the fact that Obanai will have to adjust to life without vision and the sentence of the mark that hangs above their heads. In short, both have fewer reasons to be with one another than they do apart, yet they were born to be together and they will gravitate towards each other no matter what

Mitsuri will press Obanai and invade his sadness with her love, compassion and willfulness and he will soften with time. How could he not? The love of his life is there within reach, after all. So, they both get into a relationship reluctantly at first, bit by bit, until one day Obanai asks for her hand in marriage because there is no reason to waste time. If Mitsuri insists on staying by his side, the least he could do is give her what she always wanted. They get married pretty soon after that, surrounded by their loved ones and move in together. That marks the first time Obanai ever lets himself be loved and the first time Mitsuri is in a relationship. This leaves plenty of room for mistakes, good-intentioned or accidental ones, but mistakes nonetheless

Mitsuri is an honest and loving person who gives energy to everyone around her, qualities Obanai admires. Over time, these same qualities invite protectiveness in him. He loathes watching Mitsuri give her affection to those who are unworthy. His jealousy and protectiveness of her create tension between them, although he never takes it out on her. She doesn't know how to manage expectations or regulate her emotions, but that is not the only obstacle they face. Obanai's almost endless shame, reservation, and antisocial personality clashes with her outgoing one and limits her. Mitsuri's insecurity and overwhelming fear of being seen and not liked also cause trouble

Despite all of this. Despite their rough start and struggle to let the other in and to lean on one another, despite the small quarrels because they're both novice and it's their first time building up their relationship, love remains and it's abundant. After a while, things click, and they learn to speak each other's language fluently. Mitsuri's energy will be enough to carry both of them, and her honesty and giving nature will heal him. Obanai's protectiveness and adoration will win her trust and breathe new confidence into her. They will talk more, about everything and nothing. He will learn how to live and allow her to help, and she will learn how to receive love and exist

Then, she tells him she wants kids, which opens newly closed wounds and causes them to bleed again. All the anger, fear, and shame take hold of him, and he panics. Their progress feels like it's gone, they fall out of sync again and his laser focus on her smother her instead of comforting her meanwhile, her love and the promise he made to her will become his weakness instead of his strength

When it all feels desperate, messy and hopeless, she asks him to talk. So, they sit outside on the Engawa with drinks in their hands and they talk. He tells her about the horror he carries within, how he was engineered to be horrible from birth because his blood is filthy. She won't hear any of it. Instead, she tells him that he is a survivor, a fighter and a hero. She tells him how his love for her breathes life back into her, how she gives and gives to everyone else and how he gives it all back to her, she tells him that his existence is precious and that their love is her destiny

She leans on his shoulder and tells him that it's never easy to have children or become a parent, but that there is no other person she would rather do it with than him. He sighs and closes his eyes and despite his heart leaping in his chest as if it's moments away from death, he thinks of her smiling face and her happiness. He thinks of how much he wants to be the reason for it, and if not, at least add to it. He kisses her sweetly and nods his head. That nod changes their world

Soon enough, he is holding the smallest, wailing baby in his arms, and in that moment, his heart is split in two. One half for his wife and one half for the boy he adores. They give him a beautiful name and for the first few months, her mom stays with them to help. The kid is healthy, has his father's eyes and his mother's appetite, he cries often and Obanai races to hold him and kisses him every single time. He spoils him just as much as he spoils his mom. Mitsuri describes him to Obanai in detail. He doesn't know how to explain it, but he wants to tell her that when he imagines him, he sees a ball of light. He doesn't tell Mitsuri that, nor does he tell her about the moments when his chest tightens and his blood runs cold for no apparent reason, torturous moments that come randomly and sparingly before they leave. She doesn't need to know. She has never been this happy, and he would die before taking a fraction of her happiness away

A year later, she lays on his lap and kisses his hands gently before she looks up and announces that they are ready for another one. His heart becomes stone-heavy and uncomfortable in his chest, and his mouth dries up as she squeezes his hands. Three years. If the mark prophecy is true, they only have three years remaining. He reminds her of that, and in the smallest voice, she says, "I know." After a pause, she adds, "That's why I don't want to leave him all alone." He says nothing, as he has nothing to say. She cries, and he holds her all night

Their daughter is born in the spring, eyes as pretty as her mother's. Obanai's heart is divided once more, one-third for the little bundle of joy he holds in his arms. Her mom, though exhausted, describes her in detail. He kisses both of their foreheads and carries her to meet her older brother before introducing her to her grandparents, aunts, and uncles. The first few months are hectic. They don't bring up the future. Months pass, and they insist on forgetting about the future, but it approaches. The march of time doesn't stop for anyone

Before they know it, June 1st arrives, and with it, Mitsuri turns 25. Now, talks of the future are impossible to avoid. They talk to her parents, who assure them that as long as they live, they will care for her kids, and they will grow up as healthy and loved as Mitsuri once did. They talk to their friends in the corps. Hope, pain, and fear surround them, but so does love. They all encourage each other and make their funeral and burial arrangements known

Obanai is okay. There is a streak of sadness that weaves through his heart and body, nagging and eating away at him, but he kisses Mitsuri, and they hold one another, rested and warm. He tells her she is his destiny and that he is grateful he was born because he got to meet her. Tears roll down her cheeks, and he kisses them away. He tells her, "For as long as I can remember, I believed that happiness and life weren't meant for me. You gave me both." He hugs her tightly and then they both look over at their children, sleeping soundly on their futon next to them

The summer heat gradually puts them both to sleep, and the lull of the breeze, the sounds of life—the weaving grass, the sound of the crickets, the faraway river, and the distant fireworks outside—are the last things they hear

I wanted to try editing Tanjiro and since I like him with long hair in episode 1 I did this too :)

• He's blind from one eye because Nezuko scratched his face when attacking him.

• He wears Nezuko's hair tie as a bracelet.

• Always wears his hair in a loose ponytail, but sometimes put his hair down when resting.

• Tanjiro have nightmares every night so he has some trouble sleeping.

• Became a demon slayer to avenge his whole family being killed and to prevent other people to lose their families too.

I imagine a modern sort of AU with these two in the spotlights:

Mitsuri traveling away from Kimetsu town after tragically lost her boyfriend of years Obanai due to an incident involving his family (murder mystery maybe). Taking Kaburamaru with her, she stays in the Grand City, working as an art teacher in the New World Academy.

In the midst of her grief, she finds comfort in a cafe where the chef is nice enough to cook her enormous amount of food without any complaints every time she comes over.

Or maybe it's the chef himself.

(Mitsuri and Sanji are going to start off as friends and then close friends and it'd take a very long time for them to be together because one is afraid that she'd forgot her late boyfriend if she moved on, and another doesn't want to take advantage of the poor girl and he's unsure if he's worth enough to be with her)
