This random NPC conversation is honestly my favorite in the game. I remember overhearing it when I was looking away from my screen, doing a double-take, and sticking around to hear it again. And this was back when they first rebuilt Lion's Arch.

I happened to hear it again today and had to screencap it.

It legitimately makes feel crazy how Culpepper exists only to prop up the male characters. She has one speaking line, and then every other comment on her existence is men insulting and killing her. Her death isn't about herself--it's to highlight Ryan's hypocrisy, Cohen's thin skin, and Sullivan's, her murder's, grief.
Maddening that we're supposed to feel bad for the cop who killed Culpepper, and then stole from his victim's home, and sympathize with his sadness instead of focusing on Culpepper's actual death. Her death isn't hers, more focus is given to the men in her story than her own thoughts and feelings. She doesn't exist outside of men, she doesn't even exist for herself. Her relationship with Jasmine isn't even in the game, it's something added in the book and even there, their relationship is only explored in male characters talking about them behind their backs. Never on screen interactions.
She's not a character in the story, she's a prop for the rest of the male cast, and this can be said for a majority of the female characters in BioShock.

customer service voice killer (specifically flight atrendants) because i think him being overly amicable and polite as a front while doing the most heinous crimes is a really fun contrast. like, he gets whacked in the head and then minutes later just slowly gets up with such an angelic smile and blood running down his cracked head going "i'm sorry. i would not miss this time". what a polite guy asking people if they want to be served a beheading or a stabbing.

I don’t have a sign to tap but I should—instead, a reminder that my feminism extends to all LGBTQIA (T for trans women, non-binary, and other gender non conforming identity)—AND to sex workers. No purity tests or virginity cults on my feed, if you please. Also: all races, and have kids or don’t. 🙌

I really enjoyed this one! It was messy with a capital M, but it was also a fun and quick read. I loved that Teddy and Cole were such opposites and not really looking for anything past a week of fun together. And yet…they found a spark of something more in each other. I wish their communication was a little better, but also I can completely understand why things happened the way they did. (Also, Jason deserves a punch to the face and some serious jail time for what he did. I hate him with every fiber of my being! 😡) I think the only thing I wanted a bit more of was Cole’s job as a sex worker and the company he created around it. Otherwise, I really liked this and it’s getting four stars from me!

Walked into my roommate's room halfway through watching XO Kitty to tell her about how it was an enjoyable silly new Netflix show but that they weren't giving the queer relationships as much development and screentime as their straight counter parts.
Finished the season and had to burst into her room again to correct myself because HOW WRONG I WAS. I could not have been more wrong about the queer rep. Holy shit was I wrong.

did anybody else see the clip of jenna ortega recounting filming wednesday netflix with an acute c19 infection as an amusing anecdote. that she was incredibly sick and weak and feverish and had to film the dance sequence anyway, damaging her body while exposing cast mates and crew to a deadly virus. i have seen very little recent news regarding tv & film set safety with regard to sickness exemptions / prevention / minimizing disease transmission and i wonder if it’s because SAG-AFTRA president fran drescher is antivax (and has acted flippantly about c19 precautions) lol. solidarity with striking actors but they also deserve so much better
