Voted! Here's a crappy picture of Forte after we left the polls
Huge thank you to our local poll workers, who were both helpful and respectful. And also to all poll workers who help the American people make their voices heard.
Anyway, time to go watch V for Vendetta and try not to freak out as the results come in.

Man, depression SUCKS
So I'm working my checklist. This is one of em:
Tumblr media
Took a (much needed) shower 🚿 for my poor grody body. Not gonna say how many days it's been, I do want to start tracking how often I DO shower so I can try and figure out how to do it more often.
Got my tea and morning meds in. Only missed one dose this week.
Am drinking water. (Black cherry seltzer)
Had breakfast. Now I've made lunch (quesadilla with a bit of salsa and a bit of lunch meat, and a sliced apple). We're out of bread.
Tumblr media
Am eating to make sure I can last the whole of this shopping trip. (Going out with spouse to find cutlery for the camper van and try out a couple of camping things at REI. Lightweight camp chairs is one goal, and I wanna look at their hiking and walking boots and shoes.)
My body hurts less than yesterday , I think thanks to the long hot shower and a bit of stretching. I'm behind on my workouts and will work out some accountability or rewards to encourage myself.
I have stuff to do to get the rest of the way ready for Halloween,
Tumblr media
and other stuff to be prepared for working the elections. I did finish writing my postcards for the GOTV in Georgia (and mailed them on time!) Next Monday is gonna suck because of the time change.
Speaking of, I need to finish researching and marking my ballot. I don't know enough about my local races or the state propositions.
I miss my friend GrlPurple. She used to host Proposition Parties. Lots of good food, and each person picked or got assigned one proposition to research and talk about so everyone could feel reasonably well informed without having to look EVERYTHING up themselves.

Thanks for listening 🎧😊 bleeding off a couple hundred words always helps make the world less bleak.
And in case nobody told you today: I love you, you're fabulous, your ass looks fantastic, and you can! Do the thing!

I’m on my 9th hour of working at my local polling station, and I still have 3.5 hours left. This is exhausting.

From the August 5, 2024 item:
Without them, elections could not be held at all because elections require hundreds of thousands of new workers for a single day (or possibly 2 days to include some training or 3 days if they are needed for vote counting). So volunteering to do this work is essential to making democracy work. No doubt some of our readers are thinking: "I'd be willing to help out, but what do I do now?" Turns out there is a group trying to match up potential poll workers with local elections boards all over the country. It is powerthepolls.org. It acts as a broker connecting people who want to work at the polls with local election boards that need people to do it. It also provides information to potential poll workers so they can see what the deal is. It is a nonpartisan group that is just interested in making sure elections work smoothly.

Campaign of Fear
The people who administer U.S. elections – from poll workers and ballot counters to county clerks and secretaries of state – have endured a year of terroristic threats from supporters of former President Donald Trump, inspired by his false assertions of widespread fraud in the 2020 vote. The result, as Reuters chronicled in this agenda-setting series of reports, has been a campaign of intimidation that is stressing the foundation of American democracy.
