In the great big year of 2024 can we all finally acknowledge how fucking stupid those “transmasc vs transfem oppression” posts are? You cannot look me dead in the eyes and tell me that you think all transmascs just put on a hoodie and pass, that we don’t get beaten, and that we have great support and literally never go through anything. You also can’t look me dead in the eyes and tell me you believe that every single trans woman ever doesn’t pass, looks like man, is abused and are all defenseless little girls that need to be protected, because that’s just blatantly transmisogynistic. You’re literally helping no one with these posts and are cherry picking each experience. You’re contributing to trans masculine erasure, stereotypes of trans women, and also the “oppression Olympics” that you all claim to hate because you’re LITERALLY MAKING IT A COMPETITION.

Trans women deserve human rights protections under law

The right to cross dress in public

The right to not conform with any traditional gender norms

The right to publicly state their identity

Protection from discrimination in housing and employment

The right to have violent discrimination & assault against them because of their identity acknowledged as a hate crime

They deserve all of the same protections under law as same sex attracted people. Many face discrimination the same way homosexual men who cross dress do. They deserve to live their lives freely.

But what should they not have the right to do?

Use women's dressing rooms or bathrooms

Play on women's sports teams

Stay in women's shelters

Go to women's trauma support groups

Have people fired or reprimanded for acknowledging they are male

Encroach on ANY female only spaces or take ANY resources set aside exclusively for females

Trans women deserve some basic protections as a minority. I do not want to see trans women lose their housing, lose their jobs, or face hate crimes without the ability to hold the perpetrator accountable. I'm not against trans rights to equality, I'm against them taking my right to male exclusionary spaces. I'm against them taking away resources set aside for biological women. I'm against them using their identity to strip me of the few protections and rights I have as a female.

If your fight for equality eats away at another minority's rights, it's not equality, it's just fucking oppression.

The real problem with most stories that feature a role reversal of men and women in order to make some sort of point about gender inequality, is that if they fail to treat the male character experiencing oppression at the hands of women, as a genuine victim deserving of sympathy, (which they often do) then the story comes off more as a fetishistic revenge fantasy and the entire point is ruined, on both fronts, not only by aligning the author with the perpetrators but also by failing to portray the victims as victims (a subtle bias on the part of the authors because they dont believe men can actually BE victims).

Two things that bug me about the forced birth argument of "It's a small amount of rape victims getting abortions!" is that

1. That's still a LOT of people. Any amount of people being raped is significant and just because it's a small amount doesn't mean you should take away that option for them? One rape victim not getting care is one too many.

2. Genuine question, how the hell can you possibly know that? Rape is a VERY underreported crime as it is for a multitude of reasons. There isn't really any way to actually know how big that number actually is. Victims are scared. Genuinely how can you possibly be so sure of something that is nearly impossible to prove?
