🏃#HailRun 🎖 Today I knocked off my bucket list another thing as a runner I have not done before and that was run in a hail storm. Ran @epicracingevents New Haven 10K for I'm thinking the 4th or 5th time and now in my new age group of male 50-54 I got my 1st in almost 3 years 1st place, which was a nice surprise. I was not training to get a PR or sub 1 hour, so it was nice to hear my name when it came to awards. The race itself started out really cloudy, but around mile 3. The rain started and at mile 4 it fell hard and shortly after that the hail started and on my bald head...it was not that comfortable. But I pushed and think I might have passed a few older gentlemen in my age range, as I saw them walking either through or around the puddles I was running through. 🚒 #4thOfJulyBikeParade 🇺🇸 This was an interesting run today. My department helped out a local HOA with their annual 4th of July bike parade and I volunteered to walk behind the engine that was in the lead. Figured since I'm in topper mode for my upcoming half this would be good. Well the guys on the engine had us up to about 10 mph and at about a 1/2 mile my already sore legs were barking. It was great helping out the community and "chasing a fire truck" is an interesting run to say the keast. 📸 #RacePic 😁 Just got course photos for @fort4fitness race 2021 and got say some of the best of any of the big races I have done to-date in my 7 years of running. Yet another reason if you are looking for a race to consider making a weekend of, consider this one. I'm not being bias just because it's my home town, but it's a well organized event and you have several races to choose from of all varying lengths. Although these picks were great, looking at them I am reminded I really should get skin removal surgery. 270 lbs of weight loss leaves allot of loose skin. I have grown use to running with it, but it does come across looking like a basset Hound when running. I can't wait till the 2022 race, going to try for the triple crown then. 🚒 #OfficialFirefighter 🚒 No more probationary shield on my helmet. We have the advantage of @fortwaynetrails Being all over the area so it's a matter of getting to one and you will have a good run/walk/bike. 📅 #TransformationTuesday 🗓 Never give up because great things take time. 🥶 #FannyFreezer5K 🏃‍♂️ Last weeks 5K was mild 42° today...not so mind. 27°, but the trail was in nice condition and it made for a good run. Still not back to the times I want to be at, but a 28:53...I'll take that. Last weeks 5K I was just hoping for a sub 30:00 run.
