🚴‍♂️ #BikeRide 😁 First bike ride of the year! Facebook had a memory pop up from 7 years ago of me riding a bike for the first time in 18 years. I guess we had great weather then like today. So I decided to ride thev3.1 miles from home to the fire station for my weekly work detail then ride home in the dark an the @fortwaynetrails Maumee pathway. A shout out to the @newhaveninparks for getting the pathway open so fast after annual flooding. It looked like there had been several downed trees they had to take care of. Please do them a solid and give them a follow! Hopefully tomorrow will be nice and I may get a run in along the pathway. Used some muscles that are sore and going to be sore, but I have my favorite product @bluestopmax to hit them with next few days. #RideGreen, a bicycle pub tour featuring stops at various local pubs and restaurants, attracted nearly 300 entrants in its inaugural year, and that number is expected to increase for the second annual event Saturday, September 12, 2015. New this year will be a free morning wellness/fitness ride on the #FortWayneTrails oriented towards families and children followed by the adults-only pub tour in the afternoon. Both events will begin downtown at #Headwaters West and will include stops at several of downtown #FortWayne’s most popular locations, taking advantage of existing bike paths and trails. Through the event, the group hopes to highlight Fort Wayne destinations and demonstrate how active local engagement can help our community in a practical, environmentally-conscious way. Participants will be able to meet and mingle with other locals who share a vested interest in the community of downtown Fort Wayne, the environment, pub culture, local dining treasures, and biking. 🏃‍♂️ #SpringRun 🏃‍♂️ Today was beautiful 71° and Sunny, so I went to my favorite spot to run on the @fortwaynetrails the Maumee River greenway that connects Fort Wayne and New Haven. If you are ever in Northeast Indiana this pathway is unlike others as it follows the natural curve of the Maumee river for several miles. It is shaded, but not too shaded. Has plenty of rest areas with a beautiful view. Elevation changes that are not overly challenging and several points to diverge on other routes. I orginally set out to do 5 miles but when I got close to New Haven a call came in for the fire department and I was 7/10 of a mile away so I sprinted and reported on foot to my station and after we were called off I resumed my run and headed back. I spent all day working on our raised garden, pictures will follow soon, and after getting cleaned up I decided to ride my bike to the fire station for a meeting tonight. I have not went on a long bike ride in what felt like forever. It's great muscle confusion exercise. 🏃‍♂️ #FebruaryRun 🚒 Today was Beautiful in Northeast Indiana. 42° Sunny and calm. So I decided to run along the best stretch of the @fortwaynetrails the Maumee River Greenway, as the river was finally low and the path was open so I was in my happy place for a great run. After my training is threw with the New Haven Adams Twp Fire department I will be assigned at north station and I figured I would get a guess at the running distance from door to door. Map my run has it as exactly 5K(3.1 miles) so needless to say I won't be responding to calls on foot 😜 with my fasts 5K ever being 23:54. Afterward I went back to central station for some dressing drills with some of the other guys and am comfortably under the 2 minutes I need to be at for the Module A test in Indiana. Not bad for a 47 year old former 450 lbs guy. 🏃‍♂️ #LongRun 🏃‍♂️ I knocked out a 10.7 mile run the c other day while waiting to get new tire on the truck. We have the advantage of @fortwaynetrails Being all over the area so it's a matter of getting to one and you will have a good run/walk/bike. 🏃‍♂️ #Running 🏃‍♂️ I was getting a bit board with running on treadmills and after 5 years am soooooooo over running in my subdivision. With the overwhelming amount of rain the Maumee river is over her banks so running the Maumee river greenway is a no go. So I decided today to just go downtown and put a few miles on the @fortwaynetrails that are woven threw out down town. The light rain and 39° was not bad at all. It was not till I heading west I realized there was new trails I had not run on so that was a pleasant surprise finding a new path to run.
