🏃 #MarathonTraining 🚒 Was supposed to do 12 miles today to keep my Detroit Marathon training on track, but got close. I'm not at 100% certain that I'll be ready for Detroit in October, but am around 85% sure I'll be ready. I have to make my decision by midnight tomorrow to save my spot, so I will be doing some soul searching in the next 24 hours. Todtp change things up I went out to Station 5 and ran from it to Station 4 and back knocking out 10 Mike's, so I'm close, but not ahead of where I need to be. 🏃#HailRun 🎖 Today I knocked off my bucket list another thing as a runner I have not done before and that was run in a hail storm. Ran @epicracingevents New Haven 10K for I'm thinking the 4th or 5th time and now in my new age group of male 50-54 I got my 1st in almost 3 years 1st place, which was a nice surprise. I was not training to get a PR or sub 1 hour, so it was nice to hear my name when it came to awards. The race itself started out really cloudy, but around mile 3. The rain started and at mile 4 it fell hard and shortly after that the hail started and on my bald head...it was not that comfortable. But I pushed and think I might have passed a few older gentlemen in my age range, as I saw them walking either through or around the puddles I was running through. 🚴‍♂️ #BikeRide 😁 First bike ride of the year! Facebook had a memory pop up from 7 years ago of me riding a bike for the first time in 18 years. I guess we had great weather then like today. So I decided to ride thev3.1 miles from home to the fire station for my weekly work detail then ride home in the dark an the @fortwaynetrails Maumee pathway. A shout out to the @newhaveninparks for getting the pathway open so fast after annual flooding. It looked like there had been several downed trees they had to take care of. Please do them a solid and give them a follow! Hopefully tomorrow will be nice and I may get a run in along the pathway. Used some muscles that are sore and going to be sore, but I have my favorite product @bluestopmax to hit them with next few days. 💪 #WorkoutSaturday 🦵 I did some shoulder work for about 20 minutes and then am doing something new to see if I can reduce knee pain and that it adding some sled work into ankle and hip exercises. 🙂 #DowntownRun 🏃‍♂️ Getting ready for a double race weekend this coming weekend. Glad my daughter started swim practice again cause I get to run Downtown Fort Wayne. It was an interesting run cause I figured it was a slow news day. 💪 #PreRace 🏃‍♂️ Drove through thick fog to the Buckeye State to run the Hicksville Fire Department 5K for my 4th time. Hoping for a sub 30:00 and top 3 in my age bracket. I have in my last 3 attempts placed 2nd, 5th and 3rd 2018-2020 I know I'm training for an Ultra, But I had to fit this race in to help support this department on their annual race. 📸 #RacePic 😁 Just got course photos for @fort4fitness race 2021 and got say some of the best of any of the big races I have done to-date in my 7 years of running. Yet another reason if you are looking for a race to consider making a weekend of, consider this one. I'm not being bias just because it's my home town, but it's a well organized event and you have several races to choose from of all varying lengths. Although these picks were great, looking at them I am reminded I really should get skin removal surgery. 270 lbs of weight loss leaves allot of loose skin. I have grown use to running with it, but it does come across looking like a basset Hound when running. I can't wait till the 2022 race, going to try for the triple crown then. 🏃‍♂️ #DayAfterRun 🏃‍♂️ Had a good race yesterday and came home to a new pair of Hoka trail shoes delivered so I was geeked. Today I needed a nice post race recovery run and what better way to break in New shoes them that. A bit hot and humid, but I kept it slow and ran in the shade whenever possible.
