🚒 #OfficialFirefighter 🚒 No more probationary shield on my helmet. 🏃‍♂️ #SpringRun 🏃‍♂️ Today was beautiful 71° and Sunny, so I went to my favorite spot to run on the @fortwaynetrails the Maumee River greenway that connects Fort Wayne and New Haven. If you are ever in Northeast Indiana this pathway is unlike others as it follows the natural curve of the Maumee river for several miles. It is shaded, but not too shaded. Has plenty of rest areas with a beautiful view. Elevation changes that are not overly challenging and several points to diverge on other routes. I orginally set out to do 5 miles but when I got close to New Haven a call came in for the fire department and I was 7/10 of a mile away so I sprinted and reported on foot to my station and after we were called off I resumed my run and headed back. 💪 #MotivationalMonday 😎 Been a while since I have posted before/after. I am about a month into doing something I have wanted to do since I was young, and that was to be a Firefighter. Being as big as I was for so many years, the realization I would never get to try and be even a volunteer Firefighter was a there, but as many of you know after 2013 I am now in a mind set that if I can do it, I'm going to. So old me at 445 lbs can now not use my size to be the reason I don't achieve something. 🏃‍♂️ #FebruaryRun 🚒 Today was Beautiful in Northeast Indiana. 42° Sunny and calm. So I decided to run along the best stretch of the @fortwaynetrails the Maumee River Greenway, as the river was finally low and the path was open so I was in my happy place for a great run. After my training is threw with the New Haven Adams Twp Fire department I will be assigned at north station and I figured I would get a guess at the running distance from door to door. Map my run has it as exactly 5K(3.1 miles) so needless to say I won't be responding to calls on foot 😜 with my fasts 5K ever being 23:54. Afterward I went back to central station for some dressing drills with some of the other guys and am comfortably under the 2 minutes I need to be at for the Module A test in Indiana. Not bad for a 47 year old former 450 lbs guy. 🚒 #FirefighterTraining 👍 Got to Bluffton Fire Department tonight about 90 minutes early so busted out 3 mile before class. Still have some big races in training for and can't be skipping to many run days.
