Winged!Batfam AU where wings are really uncommon and are a black market commodity. Bruce has something even more uncommon: bat wings. They are one of a kind. When he’s not Batman, he dresses them with feathers so he can keep his identity. All of the robins were born with regular (bird) wings. The only exception to this is after Jason dies and he emerges from the Lazarus pit, he has bat wings like his father. Wretched mirrors. Yada yada. You get the picture. Something about demons coming back to haunt you.

Toying with the idea of Damian’s wings being plucked as a child while he was in the league so they would resemble his father’s. (Ik bat and bird wings are structured differently but pretend they aren’t.) Maybe they grow back, a rebirth. Maybe they don’t, a grim reminder of what he was supposed to be. Either way, his wings are painful to use compared to the rest of the family. He will power through it when he needs to, but he’s more earthbound than the rest of his family.

Wing au!!!!

So Damian is a mix of both his heritages being a bat and a bird which causes trouble in his flying.

Jason would have had a powerful set of wings but unfortunately one was taken.

Dick has colorful wings a bit smaller but fast and agile, the colors help represent the flying Graysons.

Cass is as stated a Chinese paradise flycatcher a tiny but fast bird.

Duke is an angel kidding kidding but he has the biggest wings in the family, he has two big sets that glow because he’s a meta.

I’ll probably do more of the family in another post if this does well because drawing wings is a challenge for me 🥰

Tim was born with wings.

There were tiny at first, so small the doctors didn’t even notice. It was after a few months the little nubs became visible and as soon as they noticed, that was it. They were growing.

By two years old they were three times his size and he wasn’t allowed to leave the house. His parents own a medical company yet they couldn’t figure out how the hell such a deformity could ever exist. They hired very specific doctors to help them and forced them to sign NDA’s, though even if they did people would probably just think it was usual Gotham horse shit.

So, they cut them off.

At two years old his wings were removed and shut away in a box in the basement and after that, Tim Drake stopped being the happy little boy he was. His second year of life was spent in agony as the wounds healed and he learnt to walk again without the normal weight, and that slight discomfort and phantom pain didn’t leave even after he met Batman.

It got worse when he became Robin and knew he was hiding his two disgusting humerus bone nubs left protruding his middle back.

He manages to keep it hidden for several years, but it’s when he’s newly seventeen that he gets hit too bad. A grenade he managed to dodge the explosion from, but that knocked him off a roof and onto a railing.

It’s agony as he lands on his left and feels his ribs shatter and snap, but luckily he passes out and doesn’t feel much of it.

Unfortunately, that also means he can’t insist on doing his own medical assessment like he usually does and Alfred and Dick do it themself.

Alfred notices first and freezes, which makes Dick come over to see.

Neither of them have the chance to hide it from Bruce who surpassingly accepts it quickly and is instead crushed that his son didn’t trust him with such a vital part of he he is.

Tim tells them the real story when he wakes and admits that’s why he didn’t take his parents house after they died and just left it vacant, so he wouldn’t have to accidentally find the bones of his lost life.

When Jason and Dick go with him, Damian as well though he tries to say it’s because he’s bored when really he doesn’t want to be left out on his brothers new chapter.

As requested, Jason goes to find the box for him and he finds it after an hour of looking, only… the wings haven’t decayed.

They’re also moving.

Bruce, A Raven obviously, Ravens are intelligent, ominous, and symbolic of mystery and strategy. Their black feathers complement Bruce's dark and brooding persona. Their adaptability and cunning reflect his detective skills and resilience.

Dick, Swallow wings, Swallows often symbolize freedom, loyalty, and speed, matching decently to Dick’s acrobatic grace and free-spirited nature.

Jason, red bearded vulture, vulture wings represent survival and transformation, and death, it could serve to reflect Jason's resurrection and his morality when it comes to death, also i think the way they gain the red coloring on their heads could really match the whole red hood thing.

Tim, Falcon wings, Falcons are sharp-minded hunters, known for precision and problem-solving skills. Tim’s intelligence and meticulous planning fit perfectly with a bird known for its sharp focus, strategy and thinking.

Damian, Peregrine Falcon, Peregrine Falcons are the fastest birds, could symbolize Damian's skill and efficiency as a fighter. assassin, ect.

Barbara, Barn Owl wings, Barn owls are symbols of wisdom and clarity, Their silent flight mirrors Barbara’s resourcefulness and ability to operate from the back as Oracle, The elegance of their wings also suits her graceful and strategic nature.

Cassandra Cain, Black Kite, Black Kites are known for their acrobatic flight and ability to navigate complex environments, reflecting Cass's unparalleled combat skills and agility..

Stephanie Brown, Sparrow wings, sparrows are small but resilient, often underestimated but highly social and adaptable. This matches Stephanie’s determination, optimism, and ability to thrive in the face of challenges.

Alfred, bald Eagle wings, Eagles symbolize guardianship, wisdom, and strength, fitting Alfred’s role as the steadfast protector and father figure to the Batfam. His wings would have a regal presence, emphasizing his quiet but commanding influence, also just would be funny if the British guy had em.

Duke, Golden Eagle wings, Golden eagles are associated with sunlight and strength, aligning with Duke’s role as The Signal, operating during the day. Their wings convey a sense of majesty and independence, neat.

Medieval Dragon Rider Au!

Jason is presumed dead after an assassination attempt on the king goes awry, leaving the young prince’s chambers a burnt a ruin.

The only thing that survives the fire is the prince’s dragon egg, passed on to the king’s newest charge, Tim Drake, after a mourning period. To the surprise of everyone, the egg hatches shortly after. “A sign of the dead prince’s approval”, it is declared.

But when Jason returns to attack Tim in revenge for taking his place, it’s on the back of one of the largest dragons the realm has ever seen.

And Tim’s dragon has only just become big enough to saddle a rider two months ago.

Batman and his children are winged. No, they are not metahumans, they are representatives of a whole separate subspecies of Homo sapiens. They are representatives of the wind tribe, whose people, according to lost legends, were blessed by the heavens and the winds themselves.

The wind nation has wings, any wings that people can imagine and can't even think of, they are different from ordinary people, taller, truly divine beauty, improved physical performance and longevity, - Alfred is also a representative of the wind tribe, no one knows how old he is and he had the intention to be the keeper of the Wayne family line.

Bruce, like his father Thomas before him and his grandfather Julian, is born by androgenesis. There are so few people of the wind tribe left that they do not even know about each other and as a result, no one can find a mate - and entering into an alliance with a human means a negligible low probability of having a winged child.

They did not become completely extinct only due to the fact that they are capable of virgin reproduction - males, as mentioned above, are capable of androgenesis, and females are capable of parthenogenesis. Rare of them are able to change their gender, but it is so rare that it is considered almost a myth.

Richard Thomas, Jason Aleifer and Timothy Kaia are Bruce's biological children, as you have already understood, they are also the results of androgenesis. Dick has beautiful dragonfly wings, Jason inherited his father's bat wings, but first in his childhood they were covered with downy feathers, Tim has the wings of a nightingale.

They really have bird-like habits and their own special language consisting of a light chorus, rhythmic clicking and whistling. They have sharp claws and small fangs that can be used as weapons.

Love this so much. The detail the world building goes into is fantastic. I am super interested in this whole thing. There are a few things I am ofc super curious about. Firstly, how would Damian play into this AU if at all? Second, how would the wind tribe and the physical attributes associated with it play into the public lives of the Wayne family? Also is there anyone that is notably human in this AU?

Idea for your Wing AU, but what if Tim had Raven wings? Ravens are usually omens of death and intelligence, and in general, they are great fighters when need be.

Tim's always followed by death in the comics, and he's pretty raven like to me, lol. If not raven, then maybe a crow? He gives off vibes of a black creepy bird to me

[Wings AU Damian Wayne]

Okay so I made this as a start to some references for my wings AU and to show off some key details to my designs for them!!

The most obvious ones being the added toes(talon) to actually properly grip things, and the talons themselves.

Other details to note (though more common) would be:

Slightly pointed ears, pin feathers, and tail feathers.

Also Damian is a fledgling still so his wings are still under developed, soft and downy. He mainly glides rather than flies, meaning he still relies entirely on grappling lines.

I have some more details I'd love to touch on, such as how each of the batfam works with capes and masks, but I have to finish sketching and detailing stuff like that rn!

CASS!! She's got great grey shrike wings!! I was conflicted over what bird to give her for the longest time but i think this one works well enough

her wings are dyed mostly grey/black with a pop of yellow to keep in line with her costume :)
