Fridged (but only half successfully)
Danny awoke in a cramped, pitch-dark box with the taste of blood in his mouth. It took his brain a few moments to boot up, but then he jerked forward in a panic.
And promptly collapsed unceremoniously to the ground as a side of the box swung open.
A fridge. He had woken up in a fridge.
What hell happened to him last night?
Pushing himself around to sit upright, he grimaced at the sensation of wet fabric clinging to his skin. Glancing downwards at his clothes, he froze. The crimson stains covering the entire front of his body were impossible to misidentify. He was soaked in blood.
Fuck, this wasn’t gonna be something he could just ignore, was it. He let his head thunk back against the fridge, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath as he cast his mind backwards.
The last thing he remembered was flopping into bed in his shitty Gotham apartment after finishing a voice call with his significant other. An apartment he was definitely no longer in. So what the hell had happened to get him here?
Suddenly, his introspection was interrupted by a figure crashing in through the window. One of the bats, who then completely froze up upon taking in Danny’s slumped form.
A horrified whisper left their lips. “Danny…?”

i like to think about the duality of the kids about people shipping Bruce with anyone, because the guy has been elected as the most handsome man in the country for years, has this whole playboy Brucie persona and is often seen with someone at his arms (men and women)
on one side, they'll be like "ew god no, i do not want to imagine dad like-" and "oh my god some people actually ship Bantman and Joker wtf ??" and they'll do their best to filter every social media to avoid any thirsty or shipping content about Bruce
when the press ask them about it, they be like:
Tim : "Would you like it if I asked about your thoughts on your dad cheating on your mom with his secretary ? No ? Then mind your own business." when the dad was in fact cheating with his secretary and now everybody knew because Tim was live when he answered
Jason, pulling out a gun : "i swear to god i'll shoot the next person who asks me this and then i'll shoot myself. Ugh, do i look like i fucking care about the old man's sex life ?"
Dick, smiling uncomfortably : "i don't really live at the manor anymore and i barely see him with my job so you know..." when it has been in fact a week he's been sleeping at the manor after patrolling with Batman
Damian, frowning as usual, looking at the guy who asked him as if he did not have a brain : "Father is careful in not mixing his carnal activities with the family life so i do not have any hindsight on his sex life. i do not wish to know regardless." the journalist is taken aback by the explicit answer of this ten year old, while his brothers are trying not to laugh behind him (Jason was not hiding his snickering)
on the other side, you cannot tell me those guys are not the biggest shippers in the world
like Jason would want Batman to date Wonder Woman just so she could be his step mom. i strongly believe the guy has a ao3 and tumblr account and is very much active on both. he definitely reads batman x green lantern fics just to annoy Bruce (even though his dad has no idea, but still gets shivers when Jason is reading one)
Dick and Duke both ship SuperBat although for different reasons. for Dick, that's his uncle there, he was there when they met and saw them as they slowly became best friends. he strongly believes they are made for each other. Duke just think it would be super cool (no pun intended) if the Superman and the Batman were dating.
Stephanie just likes to roll with it, some days she feels like shipping superbat, others she'll be more into batcat, or batlantern. she's pretty volatile and doesn't really have a favourite, but when she gets into one she's all in. she'll be arguing and insulting people online who disagrees, sharing crazy theories...
Cass doesn't really care, she'll listen to any of her siblings ranting about their thoughts (especially Steph) and juts find it adorable (and funny how much they care)
Tim probably ships superbat because they are completely opposed, and he finds the parallels really interesting. he definitely writes fics (Jay reads his fics and they exchange about it without knowing it's each other)
Damian doesn't really see the point. but he has drawn of few fanart (Jason tried to bribe him with money once and Damian had to remind him of his inheritance) when Bruce benched Tim and him and he ended up drawing some batlantern that Tim printed and plastered all over the manor. Bruce had to restrain the access to the printer (Tim hacked into it the next day)
Barbara, although she doesn't really ship, is the one you go to if you search some content, she'll find you the most heart wrenching, 200 thousand words, slow brun, angst/comfort fics you'll ever read (the type of fic that changes you deep into your soul). she still likes debating with the batkid
Regardless, if there's one things they all agree on, it is Bruceman (love those fics were the batkids just go along with it). like it's hilarious but the fans make some pretty good points and they are in fact impressed. it's also the safest ship as it would not happen in any situations so they don't have to worry about their dad being stolen

was talking with @inspectre-abed about how so much of the resistance group was cut from the war games colorized and it always hits first as the obliteration of showing Jamie/Zoe growth but also. Also. Seeing how much Jeremy/Jennifer suffered (not terribly but I do miss all of their few scenes haha) and just. Those are THE two strongest parallels imo. If you know me you know I never stfu about two/jamie x jennifer/jeremy but I don’t think I’ve talked about the resistance group stuff mainly cuz I never thought about it before??? But all of the emphasis on breaking their programming & brainwashing - it’s literally two/jamie/Zoe breaking free from their own environments & maybe I’m stupid and slow to realize this but. Like. Damn. Not to be annoying and drag eu into this but,
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/0391422ee77321cb9cc6bd77dd93e314/d8fcb51a013e1cb3-71/s540x810/b6d4bc9bb7de0b37b6d27b0dc1bd8e72dcef2d0c.jpg)
(The Menagerie^) and like sure it’s just Jamie playing the role of the Doctor or adding his own input after being with the Doctor for so long or whatever….but yeah. this learning about brainwashing after sorta breaking free from their own??? This acknowledgment from Jamie about the existence of this (and Jamie of course always bristling at it, like the macra terror) With the Doctor it’s obviously running from Gallifrey and while I don’t want to differentiate the Doctors too much…This IS so specific to the second doctor. Ian & Barbara made the first impact of course, and personally I will always be biased towards Steven because of his rather traumatic run with the Doctor. But now that 2 has settled into this, they can really begin to explore life outside of Gallifreyan standards. Adopting more and more human customs, saving lives for the sake of saving lives, and the transformation of the show as a whole after the dark and chaotic streak picking up after the Myth Makers.
While Jamie it feels it could fall on either hand of literally fighting as a Jacobite or just existing as someone different in his society (thinking,,,, “fae-touched” from on a pedestal or “Jamie knew the Doctor was not human: he didn’t know exactly what he was[…]He also knew that humans rarely came away from their adventures with the fairy folk unscathed.” from the Nameless City (p31-2 I believe) like. Literally any of his eu references that discuss his opinion on the Doctor & how he fits into all of that - and so well because of who he is which definitely doesn’t feel like it’s alluding to any other Identities.) it doesn’t change the fact that he has also been in some sort of resistance group & that joining the TARDIS did throw off this fog for him - whether exposing him to sci-fi worlds (like the soldiers being exposed to Their sci-fi world) or just learning about Himself On The TARDIS.
And obviously Zoe quite literally overcomes her programming from her childhood as she learns to love and live with Two & Jamie - “the girl […] from the future” who is not so far off from us now learning how to exist beyond what she has been dehumanized & reduced to (not …. unlike the kidnapped soldiers) by joining up with people from different times & different worlds that have suppressed them in some way. Not to mention her post-war games audio where she works to dismantle said system. (Ty inspectorabed).
This sort of resisting & breaking the rules through willpower & anachronistic friendship….that IS the second doctor. Like. “I tend to get involved with things” I know we all think about that like but watching the colorized version really hit hard because it reminded me, and also because it’s such an important scene now brought to color & attention (aka worthy of the 90 minutes). The Doctor getting involved in a much larger scale than their past life because they’ve established themself as this sort of figure & goal now (again…going back to the I, TARDIS book which describes how 2 shifts their self perception I guess?? Not a hero, I’ll never call the Doctor a hero, but. Certainly someone who chooses to step in more than not, and certainly more than 1 did.) Combined with getting involved with other people when 2 really shouldn’t be - aka, forming a family with Jamie & Zoe - it does feel a lot like the resistance “wrongly” coming together. This breaking away & resisting…like. That is the resistance of humans in the war games. Different people from different times united by their shared resistance from this brainwashing. They came from different places & were most likely given different programming - though not on the level that two/Zoe/Jamie would be given different things ofc - but they still reach similar conclusions towards the end. Not to mention the Doctor sort of pretending to help the scientist reintegrate the rebels in the same way they ,, initiated the Time Lords returning/affecting Jamie/Zoe …
So.
Yeah. That’s it. I don’t know.
I know they had to cut a lot so it’s not really about that just more. Nice to see the resistance as this culmination of Two Era but especially with Jamie & Zoe & how they reflect the Doctor and their own attempt to escape Gallifrey….how the three of them do eventually go home - but unlike the resistance where that’s a good thing it’s a loss to them….how they never end up escaping their Programs but they have still escaped their Programming??? Does this make sense?? Anyway
*
Stuff referenced again: the menagerie novel, the nameless city (prose), on a pedestal (ST: the quality of leadership), echoes of grey/the memory cheats/the uncertainty principle/second chances audio series about Zoe. (CC I think?)

♫ “Something happened for the first time, in the darkest little paradise.” Don't Blame Me by Taylor Swift
Everything feels cold on mornings like these.
The light bleeds in through the venetian blinds, gray and gloomy. You huddle into the blankets, clinging to any warmth you can find. It's your dads house, or rather, apartment. You remember waking up in a king-sized bed years prior.
Your thoughts drift back to old memories again. You wish you could push them out.
"Dad, I'm scared." You say, seven years old, middle of the night, clutching a rabbit stuffed animal. Your mom rubs her face, still groggy and half-awake.
"Hey, hey. It's okay." He whispers through his own fatigue, stretching out his arms for you to join them on the bed. "Why are you scared?"
You hop on the bed, crawling into him. Your mother tosses, turning over with a lazy hum before drifting back to sleep. You squeeze your rabbit, Mr. Marbles, and bury yourself in the covers.
"What if they get me?" You ask, voice small. You can't see your fathers eyes soften through the darkness.
"Who?" He seems to sober up from sleep at your question, clearing his throat. His voice becomes a bit clearer.
"The bad guys." You say the words like they're sacred. It feels hard to get them out, and it feels swallowing salt-water.
Silence.
"I won't let them, I swear to you." Your dads voice speaks, and in his arms, you feel sleep slowly return to you. "I'm gonna protect you. And mommy."
"What about you?"
Silence.
"Go to sleep, Y/N. Everything's going to be okay."
You fell asleep that night, quiet, waking up to pancakes, and light that was much warmer than what you have now.
You sit up in your own bed, cramped. You heave a sigh, rubbing your temples. You're not tired like you should be. You stayed up the previous night, jumping roof-tops with Selina. It was a welcome distraction, the adrenaline that pooled in your blood at night. Mornings in Gotham were worse.
You hear whispers in the room over. Thin walls. You don't care to listen as you get dressed, but you do wonder who exactly your father could be talking too.
"How'd you find me?"
"Oh, you're famous, sir. You're names in the papers. The famous bounty hunter." You wince. Jim Gordon. Your father. The bounty hunter.
You walk to the room quietly, before stopping. You see the two men sitting down, and you piece together just who exactly is on the couch.
Both men turn to face you at the interruption, and Mr. Tetch looks equally as surprised as you are. His eyebrows pull together, and your dad looks like he's been caught doing something. He knows you don't approve of this bounty hunter bullshit.
"Ms. Y/N?" Mr. Tetch calls, and Jim picks his head up at this. He gives you a look.
"You two have met...?" Your dad speaks, sizing up the situation in concerned curiosity.
Before you can answer, Mr. Tetch does for you.
"Yes, sir. We've met at the Siren's club. Your daughter, I presume?" He asks, inquisitively. He looks as though gears are turning in his head. Jim simply nods, a bit uncertainly.
"Hi." You give a small wave. Mr. Tetch brightens up at this, somehow fascinated.
"Right." Jim says, slowly. He looks back between the two of you.
That familiar feeling of silence sounds out again. It tastes bitter.
"...I want you to find my dear friend." Mr. Tetch speaks up. "We're very close. But...her condition proved too much for me. I sought help, the worst kind, the fiend. Professor Strange." He hisses the insult with venom. You watch your dad raise a brow as he sips his coffee.
"Her condition?" He asks, and you marvel at the words. How odd.
"Some poison, in her blood." The man responds, like it's casual. "very rare, unique, in fact. He took her in. Said she needed constant supervision. He wouldn't let me see her."
There's an edge to his voice. The way he talks about this friend of his. Poisoned blood, you think, curious. For some reason it embitters you. You hate this fucking city sometimes.
"You go to the police?" Your dad asks. Of course he'd ask that.
"Useless." Mr. Tetch says, solemnly. "This is Gotham, after all."
You let out a soft chuckle at that, which makes both of them look at you. Both sets of eyes zone in on you. Your dad looks disappointed.
"Well, he's not wrong." You nip, and Mr. Tetch cocks his head up. "The GCPD is a shit show."
Mr. Tetch looks surprised at your audacity, and a bit amused. Your father reprimands you.
"Y/N." He says, and you bite back a retort. He sighs, dragging a hand along his face. "Indian Hill escapees get five grand from the GCPD. You able to top that?"
You remember when all the money in the world couldn't have swayed the famous Jim Gordon from his duty.
Mr. Tetch pulls out a wide wad of cash from his pocket, "I'll double it." He speaks. Woah. Did your mom give him that much for just one show? No way in hell. He must have gotten this money somewhere else.
"I'll see what I can do." Jim says, without question. You want to roll your eyes.
"Thank you, very much." The man responds. Polite, isn't he?
You watch as your dad pockets the money, and how he's handed a photo of a beautiful woman. In a strange way, it makes you feel a bit insecure.
"Leave your number-" Jim goes to speak, when Mr. Tetch interrupts him, handing a business card. Eager much.
The man leaves without a word, sending you a final glance before he turns. Those dark eyes...they startle you. He sends a small, intrigued smile. Again, it feels like the world stops. Your breath catches in your throat.
When he's gone, you stand on your toes to hover over your dads shoulder. You two stare at the business card in synonymous silence.
"The Great Jervis Tetch" Hah. So that's his first name. Jervis.
You suddenly feel warm. Maybe this house isn't that cold after all.

Is it weird that I am perfectly fine with Araki giving Jodio a severe mental illness but still wish he had given Jodio a different one?
sorry it took so long to answer this one, i was trying to figure out how exactly to answer it, and it turns out there's a lot of different ways:
from a perspective of representation: mental illness is an incredibly stigmatized subject, and in mediums like manga and comic books even more so, as it is incredibly common for a lot of popular plots in those mediums to go "well, x character went crazy, that's why they're evil", as well as stories in general to associate a lack of empathy with a lack of ability to act in traditionally heroic ways. jjba itself has shown that, as part of dio's initial villainous characterization involves him showing a lack of empathy towards various figures such as dario or george (although this isn't the only way his villainy is characterized, as we're also shown right off the bat that he's very deliberately cruel). with jodio being set up as more of an anti-hero, giving him more traits that could be considered unheroic as well as a commonly stigmatized mental disorder, it makes sense to not have that sit quite right. but taking the history of the series into mind, jojo's is no stranger to exploring more shades of gray in its protagonists in its past. johnny and gappy have certainly committed far greater acts of brutality in their parts, while giorno, who jodio is set up as a parallel to, outright aspires to be a head of organized crime. even josuke, who is portrayed as one of the kindest and most pure-of-heart jojos, basically condemns a guy to a fate worse than death in his first arc. this isn't necessarily anything new the series is giving us, and the fact that the jojolands is largely portrayed from the perspective of jodio himself is a massive plus, as it gives us insight into his thought processes and helps us sympathize with a character we might not have done so otherwise (telling a story from the perspective of someone doesn't necessarily ask us to sympathize with them, but things like the goofy jokes he makes with dragona, his own insight on his diagnosis, and his clear love for his family go a long way towards making jodio likeable). one could view this as the natural progression of jojos tending towards the anti-heroic while araki explores more marginalized communities he's interested in portraying, or a poorly thought out decision that furthers stigma towards said marginalized communities. personally, i think it's still too early in the story to make any real judgements, but the way i see it it's kind of similar to the situation with jolyne. she's the only female jojo, and the only one besides jonathan who ultimately fails in her quest at the end of her part. there are narrative and thematic reasons for doing so, but it doesn't sit right with a lot of people, and that's perfectly fine.
from a medical perspective: according to the dsm 5, a person must fit at least three of the criteria for antisocial personality disorder in order to be diagnosed as having it, most of which jodio does fit. failure to conform to social laws and norms (he's a teenage drug dealer), deceitfulness (when barbara ann asks him where he is and if he's hanging out with paco, he lies), impulsivity (he destroys one of the lava rocks to try and get rohan to cooperate), aggressiveness (he kicks that one fucking cop until he's a stain on the ground, twice, although he is justified in his actions and this kind of willingness to fight people is essentially a requirement to be a jojo), reckless disregard of safety (again, practically a requirement for most main characters), consistent irresponsibility (assuming what we've been shown of him is how he acts all the time, yes, although the story so far takes place over too small of a timeframe to determine that), and lack of remorse (dragona has to remind him not to get too violent in the opening chapter with the cop). so he does fit most of the criteria, but it is also a requirement that, to receive a diagnosis, a person must be eighteen or older, with evidence of having fit some of the criteria before the age of fifteen. so by real world standards, jodio would be on track to being diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder, but actually receiving it from a high school psychologist is bullshit. then again, this is the universe where the president made a cowboy race battle royale where the contestants had to collect magic body parts, so it's entirely possible that psychiatric standards in that world are just different. but you would be entirely justified in not liking his diagnosis, and there are several other disorders that fit the behavior that jodio shows. there's adhd (the impulsivity and tendency to get lost in daydreams and beating the shit out of cops), depression (the sense of emptiness he describes upon being given his diagnosis), anxiety (irritability and angry outbursts), and that's just some of the more common disorders. we haven't even gotten into some other full-on personality disorders or common comorbidities with antisocial personality disorder! from this perspective, your assessment is totally fair.
from a thematic perspective: as mentioned earlier, jojo's is no stranger to making its heroes increasingly reflected in shades of gray, and parts seven and eight especially make a point of contrasting their protagonists with their respective foils from parts one and four. johnny is a paraplegic gringo jockey twink that murders people so hard his friend the executioner had to tell him to slow down, in contrast with the jacked and kindly gentleman jonathan who impressed a stranger so much with his dignity that he immediately joined him in his quest. gappy is a quirky lil amnesiac who beats people to death with shovels while josuke has one of the more normal personalities of all the jojos and possibly the lowest kill count. at first it might seem like giorno and jodio are the most similar duo, since they're both criminals that act a-okay with murder, but while giorno's goals and reasoning for joining the criminal underground are motivated by a sense of empathy towards the people of italy and a belief in a higher ideology that passione can aspire to, jodio is a very self-centered kid. he has a very inflated idea of his own reputation, can't spot obvious traps, and the very first thing we're told about him is that he wants to be stinking rich. he also believes in the ideology of mechanisms, but it's an ideology that is explicitly centered around gain and his own material wealth, in contrast to giorno's philosophy, which involves ideals of self-improvement and certain boundaries that should not be crossed in the pursuit of power. giorno's ruthlessness stems from a place of compassion, so having his counterpart being someone who lacks the ability to feel empathy is a really interesting choice that gives the story a lot of places to go. the fact that the other criteria he fills, like impulsiveness and irresponsibility, stand in direct contrast to giorno's ambition and planning ahead, also adds further potential for the jojolands to explore a completely different sort of crime story than golden wind. so from this perspective, i'd say that your assessment is rather harsh.
tl;dr there's a lot of different angles to approach this question from. it's 90% probably that i completely misunderstood what you were trying to ask, though, so please tell me what i got wrong :P
#this wasn't the question at all but it's also pretty interesting to consider how mental illness is portrayed in previous parts#you've got stuff like doppio and diavolo (and king crimson?) as an evil system#a tired trope that's pretty harmful#but plenty of interpretations of the main jojos themselves have leaned towards neurodivergent readings#johnny and jotaro are super easy to read as having ptsd#there's jotaro and kakyoin and gappy being commonly headcanoned as autistic ofc#joseph and suzi q could be seen as adhd#it could be easy to interpret giorno's behavior as indicative of some kind of disorder#you could probably toss that on the pile of “previous patterns araki is expanding on”#not necessarily something he did on purpose but something he decided to explore in more depth eventually#hoo boy this is probably the longest thing i've made in a while#jjba#jjba part 9#jojo's bizarre adventure#jojo no kimyou na bouken#jodio joestar#hirohiko araki#the jojolands#jojolands#antisocial personality disorder#mental illness#mental health#dsm 5#anyone with any other interpretations experiences or angles to add to this please do#i'm not a psychologist and i don't have aspd so please take all this with a grain of salt#why did i spend so much time writing this

(Note: Barbara Allen's supposed promiscuity was a source of conflict in Dark of the Moon. She falls pregnant with John's baby before he's turned human, and as such the baby is a Witch-Human hybrid, which is considered an abomination and burned to death by Barbara's nurse.)

While I haven't watched MHA in good while, and I'm also not the biggest DC head (cause the franchise is fucking gigantic) this is the way I see this conceptually:
Dabi x Hawks is Nightwing (Dick) x Batgirl (Barbara)
Endeavor x Hawks is Batman (Bruce) x Batgirl (Barbara)
Like excuse me sir, why are you dating a person who is the same age as your black haired (sometimes), blue eyed son and is also (in some alternate universes) his ex and is also kinda your coworker like hello????
Now do correct me if I'm wrong but the parallels make me hate Endeavor x Hawks even more (not more than batman x batgirl tho cause that is sometimes CANON)

What's With All The Miniatures and Shrinking? Featuring Welcome To Marwen, TFS, The Incredible Shrinking Woman and More (Inital/Intro Post Re: The Miniature Stuff in ST)
So, I was talking about Wilbur about the weird miniature version of the Creel house that we see in one of the TFS BTS videos:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/e53fad8dee956d292082702adb822cf7/45c229023a51ca7c-19/s540x810/71100cc6c1de8c38e6e35257686cba90a27c9198.jpg)
And then, I started thinking about TFS and ST and all of the weird references to miniature/fake versions of things etc. I'm still working on another, larger analysis re: Welcome to Marwen, the Singing Detective, The Twilight Zone, TFS, It's A Wonderful Life, and Hawkins not being "real," but for now, in this post, I just want to talk about the weird "shrinking"/miniature stuff in ST and TFS and how it also connects to the weird invisibility stuff in ST and TFS. Let's get into it.
The Incredible Shrinking Woman
So, there's a VHS tape of The Incredible Shrinking Woman in the Family Video VHS store:
And interestingly enough, the main character of The Incredible Shrinking Woman is a woman named Pat Kramer- which immediately made me think of Patty Newby, and what I talked about in this post re: Patty, Suzie, Orphan (2009), and how Patty connects to the whole "small woman" thing, and NINA/Argyle's "NINA could be a small woman" line. And in The Incredible Shrinking Woman, Pat ends up shrunk due to an exposure to experiment chemicals- which is the same reason that was publicly given for Barbara's death in S2, which is interesting considering all of the Patty-Barb parallels and the fact that Patty plays "Barbara Allen" in the Dark of the Moon play in TFS. It's also interesting that Argyle specifically talks about not being able to see a small woman- versus Patty asking Wonder Woman to make her invisible, something that Patty says she knows isn't "technically canon," likely referring to Wonder Woman's invisible jet, which renders her invisible when she uses it, and also has its own AI system which is connected to Wonder Woman's brain so that she can manage it telepathically, which makes me think of Patty's weird powers-like abilities/her ability to somehow find Henry in the void etc etc, and the whole "invisible jet" thing makes me think of Project Rainbow trying to turn the USS Eldridge invisible by sending it to Dimension X:
Anyway! There's some thoughts re: The Incredble Shrinking Woman. Now let's look at Welcome to Marwen.
Welcome To Marwen
So, Welcome to Marwen is on the S4 Board:
And in Welcome to Marwen, Mark Hogancamp creates a miniature fake WW2 village called Marwen to cope with his PTSD- and he imagines that the village and everyone in it is real/the lines between reality and imagination become extremely blurred for him. And I already talked in this post about Mark's eye scar versus Brenner's eye scar (which, Brenner and the idea of a fake Hawkins/Hawkins not being entirely "real" is something I'm going to dive into more in that big analysis I mentioned), but now, I just briefly want to talk about Welcome to Marwen in general.
The village of Marwen not only reminds me of Scott's miniature town (which we'll get to in a second), but it also reminds me of S3 Will's literal miniature DND village, which is extra interesting considering Will's Brenner parallels, and specifically, his Brenner Sr parallels during that S3 scene, with Will being dressed as Will the Wise & Will the Wise's Saruman the Wise parallels versus Brenner Sr's Saruman parallels, like I talked about in this post, versus what I talked about in that initial Mark Hogancamp scar vs Brenner scar post re: Brenner Sr.
And speaking of the toys/miniature people coming to life in Welcome to Marwen, it's interesting that Spellbound, the song that plays at the end of S4, talks about toys coming alive/going "beserk":
Anyway, my main point with this is just that it involves a fake miniature town with fake, miniature people and that the lines between fiction and reality get blurred, and that Will putting the villagers into peril to try and get Mike and Lucas' attention is very similar to the scenarios that Mark Hogancamp puts his villagers (and his own alter-ego) into.
Argyle’s Small Woman Lines, Scott's Mini Town, and Things You Can't See
So, we also have Scott talking about how you "can't see" the electromagnetic field around his miniatures, but it's there- versus Argyle talking about how a "small woman would be hard to see" and Eddie saying to steve that there was "nothing you could see" versus Joyce saying "why is nothing happening"- all of which makes me think about Patty (a small woman) asking Henry what he sees during TFS when he's in the void looking for her mother:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/56fb69e238b6bfbf90c8986f8d262f29/45c229023a51ca7c-15/s540x810/ec71ff04569614eddeb0e8395a96e27ee244c910.jpg)
So, we have this whole idea that things are still real even if you can't see them, versus being unable to see a small woman/the idea that people are still real even if you can't see them, and then we also have Lonnie saying that people are "more real" outside of Hawkins, and then ALSO saying that if Jonathan left Hawkins, Lonnie could "see" him more- which then connects to Scott's whole "you can't see it but it's there" thing (and also implies that the people in Hawkins aren't "real"):
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/345e8e2f89467014ef8344a4798429ed/45c229023a51ca7c-2c/s540x810/5f20b7ca43ea693177fbd44dcd4692b2d70ce573.jpg)
Which, re: all of the invisibility stuff, it makes me think about how Project Rainbow was originally supposed to turn the USS Eldridge invisible- and technically, it did: by sending it to Dimension X. And so, when we compare that to all of the invisibility references surrounding Hawkins, part of me wonders if Hawkins itself, just the town, somehow exists in another dimension/possibly even Dimension X somehow, but anyway.
Alice In Wonderland
And now, let's talk about Alice in Wonderland, because it's definitely inspo for ST, and there's SO many references to it in ST and TFS- but today, I want to focus on the Alice in Wonderland references that centre around shrinking/changing sizes, as well as the chessboard stuff in Alice in Wonderland, and how that connects to the idea of Brenner moving the Creels around like pieces on a chessboard/like dolls.
So, I already talked in this post about the chessboard imagery with the Creel & the ideas that Brenner was manipulating the Creels both on the night of the murders and leading up to the murders, and moving them around like pieces on a chess board, as well as all of that versus the chessboard in Alice in Wonderland, and now I'm sitting here wondering if there's any literal "moving them like dolls/like chess pieces" stuff going on re: the Creels, especially considering that weird mini TFS Creel house. Brenner, quick, do you have like. A Creel terrarium going on here???
And also, in S1, they used the song "White Rabbit," which constantly references Alice in Wonderland, and specifically, talks about how "one pill makes you smaller"- which makes me think about Soteria being pill-shaped and how El says that Henward is "too big" to escape through the tunnel right before El removes soteria.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b90804354a8c5018b5d8efb1136f7f40/45c229023a51ca7c-3f/s540x810/6cc4782ce913e64dba05486002a536ca5c41cfd9.jpg)
Especially since White Rabbit plays after El escaped HNL via the tunnel in S1 and ended up at Benny's/the song is connected to that HNL tunnel.
And just as a little side note, it's interesting to me that they specifically chose to describe Henry as "little" Henry in the Weekly Watcher, especially with the context of all of this weird shrinking/miniature stuff.
And all of this makes me think about the whole "one pill makes you smaller" thing vs a.) El literally appearing as a smaller/younger version of herself during NINA and b.) what I've talked about re: Henward being subtitled as "boy" during NINA despite seemingly being a grown man.
There's more to talk about re: all of this and ST vs Alice in Wonderland but I'll save that for another time because this post is just meant to be an intro/overview post re: the weird miniature/shrinking stuff in ST.
DND Minis
Also, the party literally all have MINI equivalents of themselves-
-for some reason, they're drawing out attention specifically to the idea of miniature versions of the characters.
There's also the whole "Hank the Ranger" mini that Scott paints & how a.) "Hank" is a nickname for "Henry," and b.) the lyrics "hungry ONE" play over the scene of Scott painting the Hank the Ranger figure. And like I talked about before, we have Will's S3 village- where he puts the villagers into peril in an attempt to kick Lucas and Mike into action, which is interesting, because it's like. Yes, of course, the villagers are fictional, but also, like I mentioned before, Welcome to Marwen (a movie where the "fictional" villagers often feel very real) is confirmed inspo- so that makeas me wonder about Will's Brenner Sr parallels and the idea of Brenner/Brenner Sr somehow pulling strings in Hawkins and putting people into peril etc etc, I need to think about it more & I'll save that for another time because this post is getting too long already.
And also, speaking of minis in general, El has the miniatures that she made out of clay for her diorama- which is interesting because in TFS, Patty and Henry talk about how Wonder Woman was "sculpted out of clay," and also, Erica's Lady Applejack DND mini reminds me of Wonder woman, with the pose and the hairstyle:
TFS almost reminds me of a dioarama, with how it's contained on the stage- which makes the upside down Rebook box that El uses for her dioarama interesting considering all the of the references to the UD in TFS and what I talked about in this post re: what looks like the UD outside of the Hawkins High window in TFS.
Anyway, there's SO much more to talk about re: DND minis in this show, but I'll save that for another time/the point I'm just trying to make here is that a.) they DO keep drawing our attention to fake, miniature versions of peope and b.) these fake, miniature versions of people connect back to TFS (see: Will's Brenner SR connections and the sculpted out of clay thing vs El's clay diorama minis).
Beetlejuice
And now, we're onto Beetlejuice, which is also on the S4 board:
So, in the attic of the house in Beetlejuice, there's an attic- and in this attic, there's a miniature version of the town, where a miniature Beetlejuice ends up residing- and like I talked about in this post, Scott's miniature set has a miniature version of Beetlejuice's grave in it- which is especially interesting considering that it's anachronistic/Beetlejuice wasn't out at the time of S3.
And so, the miniature town in the attic in Beetlejuice makes me think of the Creel attic, and Henry spending so much time up there with his spiders- and Wilbur @reikunrei perfectly tied this part all together by mentioning The Bride of Frankenstein and the scientist that makes mini versions of people in jars:
Which then makes me think of how Henward compares himself to a spider in his monologue, his spiders, which are in jars, just like the people in jars from The Bride of Frankenstein- which is interesting because that then draws a parallel between Henry himself and the people in the jars/the idea that Henry is in some sort of "jar"/a miniature version of him:
And it's also interesting to me that Henry found the spiders in a vent versus all of the references to people in vents in ST (see: Erica in the vents in S3, which, interestingly, we also get a scene of S4 of Erica painting minis/she seems to have her own miniature of her DND character, Lady Applejack, so she's tied to the miniature stuff and the vent stuff versus the spiders in the vents later ending up in jars just like the miniature people in Bride of Frankenstein) and the way that El says that Henward is "too big" to go through the vent/tunnel in the NINA basement:
(and also, the vent thing gets even more interesting when we consider the fact that in TFS, Henry doesn't find the spiders in the vent- instead, he brought them WITH him from Nevada in his suitcase in jars. There's something rattling there re: all of this weird miniature/shrinking stuff vs TFS and the fact that Henry's spiders in TFS were never actually outside of the jar in the Creel house vs TFS feeling weirdly "self contained"/not aligning with filmed canon- almost like it's in a jar) And then re: Bride of Frankenstein and "small women," that brings us to this post that I made re: TFS, Patty's Mom, and Patty and music box imagery and how Patty's mom resembles/is posed like the literal small woman/tiny ballerina inside of Nancy's music box- and then when we look at Bride of Frankenstein, there's a tiny ballerina inside of one of the jars:
Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
And now, we have Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, which is on the S4 board:
In Dream Warriors, we see Freddy's dollhouse- and it REALLY reminds me of the Creel house, specifically, that weird miniature TFS BTS version of the Creel house, and also reminds me of the boarded up version of the Creel house, considreing how Freddy's dollhouse is boarded up:
This dollhouse was built by Kristen, and ends up acting as a portal to Freddy's nightmare realm- which makes me think about the scene of the Creel house getting split in half by the gate in S4/the portal imagery there. And speaking of Kristen, Kristen is able to pull people into her dreams- which makes me think of Patty in TFS and all of the references to things being "her dream," like I talked about in this post.
But then, Patty also tells Henry that it's his dream/there's a whole thing there re: shared dreams, so it seems to go a bit further than the way Kristen just pulls people into her dreams:
And also, in Nightmare on Elm Street 4: Dream Master, Kristen talks to Alice about her nightmares, and Alice tells her to take control of her dreams and "think of someplace fun," which is basically what Patty says to Henry in TFS, when she says to "make it a nice dream"- so Patty seems to get paralleled to both Alice and Kristen (which is very interesting considering Alice's character as a whole, but that's its own post), and Henry seems to get paralleled to Kristen (and a bunch of other Nightmare characters/there's ones with stronger parallels to Henry than Kristen, but again, that's another post).
(and just as a little fun fact, the actress who plays Kristen is also named Patricia)
Anyway, I went on a bit of a tangent re: Nightmare on Elm Street, but I just wanted to bring up the whole Freddy's mini dollhouse thing vs the weird mini Creel house/the Creel house in general and all of the Patty-Henry dream stuff. Not to mention all of Alice Creel's dollhouse imagery versus Freddy's dollhouse- what the hell is going on???
Conclusion
I’m not really sure what the hell is going on here, but there’s SOMETHING here. I don't even really have a coherent thesis or anything but my point is just that there's something weird going on re: shrinking and miniature versions of people and places and that also somehow ties to all of the references to invisibility/not being able to see things.
And I mean, if Brenner wanted to run experiments on an entire town, it'd be easier to do it on a tiny town, right?? Like how Scott LITERALLY runs an electromagnetic field experiment on his miniature town. And I'm also staring at the Mindflayer appearing with that giant hand and reaching towards Will- when you think about it, that's the exact sort of thing that somebody in Scott's miniature town would see when he reaches towards the town/this giant hand reaching down. Are the people of Hawkins just little DND-esque miniatures to the MF/shadow???
Also, all of this stuff re: miniatures/small versions of people makes me think about all of the pocket stuff in ST/Mike's weird letter-shaped pocket etc etc versus a.) mini people being pocket-sized and b.) the idea of pocket dimensions, and things like a bag of holding in DND, which is much bigger on the inside than it is on the outside. Is Hawkins itself some sort of pocket dimension? Does NINA take place in some sort of pocket dimension???
Long story short: I'd love to know what the hell is going on. Are there literal miniature versions of the Creels running around somewhere in some sort of ant farm-esque Brenner experiment???? Like a little "Freddy's Dollhouse" sort of thing but with the Creel house??? What the hell was up with that miniature Creel house for TFS that never got used in the play??? Is Hawkins itself some sort of weird miniature experiment town??? Is Hawkins as we know it "fake"/not "real" and is the UD the "real" Hawkins/the original Hawkins???
I'd just love some answers LMAO

What is your Earth 3 Gordon Family like? Is Barbara Owlgirl or filling another role?
they're a major crime family. Barbie Gordon was Owlgirl until Tom punished her for failing to kill Jack Dent during the parallel version of Killing Joke, now she's the Council of Owls' Auspex (ngl I just looked up synonyms for "Oracle" and Augur's probably the better word to use here, but Auspex is so cool, it's got an x in it! anyway). Despite being rendered quadriplegic, she remains relevant to Gotham's criminal underworld into the Beyond Era, serving as the Boss of Bosses by the time Rance McGinnis becomes Owlman Beyond.
Jimmy Jr. briefly operated as the Justice Squad's Owlman under Waller's edict after William Cobb's death, but the Crime Syndicate's extreme hostility to multiversal intervention (worsened by time spent incarcerated in Green Lantern Sciencell-type prisons situated in Bleed-Space) made him a target and Luke Fox quickly killed and replaced him.
