love the multitude of implications with this image. henry is a fruity little pink drink with lots of cherries. cherries that have been penetrated, mind you. reminiscent of a shirley temple. making it a mocktail too⌠what, it canât be a ârealâ drink? a float vs him floating⌠be serious.

thinking about how even gay rights just. arenât taken seriously by your average well meaning liberal. iâm thinking about how coworkers a few jobs ago just chuckled when i said i didnât want chicfila bc of their donations to anti gay efforts. more recently, a trans girl who works at my gym told me that her bosses wouldnât let her hang a pride flag in the gym. This is despite it being a place that is largely queer and a strongly âliberalâ soace, because âconservatives go here too.â At what point do certain ideas become unacceptable? at what point do we stop having conversations about queer rights because yes we all know gay people deserve rights? âconservatives come here too!â okay and youâre okay with that? you want that? thereâs people who will be made uncomfortable by something as simple as a pride flag and youâre okay with that? youâre accommodating it? have some fucking conviction! do the minimum!

i canât believe they chose the non-alcoholic version of a dirty shirley for 001 đ with the four cherries pierced on a stick? really? okayâŚ
#i love how 001 is this fruity girly drink too. basically a shirley temple float đ#and we all know why the name âdirty shirleyâ is distasteful even if itâs common#and to add (mocktail) implies that the original is a cocktail. so.#i also love that this is almost exactly the kind of cocktail i make for myself every nightâŚmineâs a popped cherry/vodka sunrise but still#the tfs team knows what i like đ#henryposting#(kind of)

Okay, so here's the thing. If, per TFS, Henry can open gates the same way El can (specifically wall gates, too, which are distinctly separate from Vecna gates)...then what was this all about?
Why is Vecna, if he's Henry, seeking a power he's already got?

Now...the Shadow doesn't seem to be able to open gates on its own in TFS or filmed canon, and regardless of which theories you subscribe to, it's hell-bent on getting people to open gates. It just needs someone to open a door.
So when we think back on what that sequence in 4.09 actually showed us:
It's all about opening gates for creaturesâand, especially in conjunction with this:
It's about opening gates for the Shadow.
Just needed someone to open the door, did we?
And I know I've mentioned it in passing before, and usually I write it off as having been uninformed because I hadn't finished S4V1 at that point, but I do hold onto the theory that Vecna isn't Henry at allâhe's just a flesh vesselâand he was built by the Shadow as a means to open gates and communicate with humans without flaying them.
Looking back, that's the message they were pushing:
Vecna was, allegedly, a newer, better version of the Fleshflayerâone trained based on El.
Like, y'know...
New Coke?
And like, you might go "Yeah. Henry was flayed. He's the vessel. Vecna is Henry"...to which I respond by directing you back to the top of this post.
If Vecna is Henry, then why does he need to learn from El and develop a novel method to open gates? Why does he need to be New Coke? Is he not canned Classic Coke's predecessor, Classic Coke in a glass bottle? [points furiously at âthe gunfire shattered the tanksâ]
It stands to reason that Vecna's not Henry, then. Not physically, at least.
And, tangentially speaking, it would answer the question of "why does Vecna have specialized holes in his back for those tentacles?" and "where did Vecna's dick go?" and "why does Vecna lowkey have womanly hips?" and "Why is Jamie so tickled by the Vecnussy thing?" The Shadow is sexless. If it created a human form, that form would have a mishmash of every human, creature, or otherwise that's been consumed by it: Males, females, tentacles, and demogorgons. Why would Vecna have a dick? Why wouldn't Vecna have specialized holes? Anyway.

Fandom Problem #10,213:
Person: *makes a hate comment on a creator's fanwork*
Person: *gets told off for their shitty behaviour*
Person: "Why is everyone being mean to me?!"
Oh, I don't know. Maybe because you were behaving like an asshole, who could not just block and move on but instead had to send hate for everyone to see. Maybe that is why people told you to get lost and that you are an asshole. Stop playing the victim when you started it.

Social murder is a term coined by Friedrich Engels in 1845 in one of his seminal works, The Conditions of the Working Class in England. Engels was Karl Marxâs close friend and collaborator, co-authoring some of the most influential works that stimulated worker revolutions across the world. Engels writes:
âWhen one individual inflicts bodily injury upon another such that death results, we call the deed manslaughter; when the assailant knew in advance that the injury would be fatal, we call his deed murder. But when society places hundreds of proletarians in such a position that they inevitably meet a too early and an unnatural death, one which is quite as much a death by violence as that by the sword or bullet; when it deprives thousands of the necessaries of life, places them under conditions in which they cannot live â forces them, through the strong arm of the law, to remain in such conditions until that death ensues which is the inevitable consequence â knows that these thousands of victims must perish, and yet permits these conditions to remain, its deed is murder just as surely as the deed of the single individual; disguised, malicious murder, murder against which none can defend himself, which does not seem what it is, because no man sees the murderer, because the death of the victim seems a natural one, since the offence is more one of omission than of commission. But murder it remains.â

i do find it hilarious any time someone comes into my inbox like âbro youâre gonna crash out so hard when you end up being wrong about everythingâ and Iâm here going. did you miss my 3743748 thousand posts on how i actually donât care what they do as long as its good? you could not make me crash out about my theories if you tried. i could be 100% wrong on every front and iâd go âhm. okay. yeah, i was expecting that. the story was good, though, thatâs whatâs important.â and then move on with my life
#meanwhile there are byIers in the tag talking about how theyâre going to end it all if byIer isnât canon#likeâŚmaybe address your own fans before you address me. baby Iâm fine!

Felt like looking up TJLC again to remind myself that history repeats itself more often than we think.
#no genuinely i do keep tjlc in the back of my mind at all times#for years iâve been here like. i need to remind everyone every so often that i give my theories an average of 10-15% confidence#and that i expect nothing at all aside from a well-told story
