Tarot reading for CR C3 E64

Did a Blessing Challenge Action reading with my Botanica deck. The deck combines tarot with flower and plant cultural meanings and meaningful historical objects representing the suits. This deck isn't good for predictions, but it is good at introspection about what's currently happening and makes a great jumping off point for meta.

Pull:

Blessing: Six of Coins Reverse (Raspberry) The good things are hidden behind bramble. Pain before gain.

Action: Knight of Coins Divinatory (Honesty/Moonewort) An honest, hard-working person. Steadfast, patient. Good with money.

Interpretation:

Blessing:

They've been through so much, good or bad, and they've changed without their person. (Arguably Laudna and Orym got worse.) Their relationships are going to be challenged. Team Issylra may be jealous of some off team Wildemount's wins. Team Wildemount may not fully understand the pain Team Issylra went through. But ultimately, it's going to form a stronger bond. And they might know better what they want. I think Laudna and Imogen may cling to each other more. They got good information about where things stand politically and what's at stake. They're all cut up, but they have the fruit and it's time to make a pie.

Challenge:

The challenge is to gather everything they've learned, everything they know, and to start planning. Including contacting key powerful people (like the Air Ashari, Whitestone, and Pike. Maybe Ajit Dial in Jrusar. The Cobalt Soul. Ira.) They have to gather more information about what did and didn't happen. But they're well positioned to pull it off and they have so many pieces they will be listened to.

Action:

Diligence is going to be key here. This isn't going to be done running headlong into battle as the lone heroes against the world. They keep their heads down, they recruit allies, they gather more information, and they come up with a solid plan all together.

The Sun represents positivity, vitality, happiness and fun. It portends good fortune and success in the direction you are moving towards.

Here’s Twiggy! This has been in the works since… I think not very long after she showed up? Because to me she’s just the personification of the Sun card, on both a superficial and a deeper level. Of course, we don’t know a whole lot about Twiggy, since she was only there for one episode, which definitely made this a lot harder, and that goes for all of the things I’m talking about here, they’re all based off what little we have, because that’s really all one can do.

To me, she absolutely represents that unrestrained, sometimes childlike joy and enthusiasm for life and excitement and new things. And despite her surely having had less happy things in her past (she mentioned that her parents died a long time ago, and she’s also clearly been around a whole bunch of different things, ending up on a pirate island), she retains an energy and air of innocence, retaining her optimism, friendliness and cheerfulness even in the face of a whole bunch of strangers, an uncertain future and fighting a god damn fucking dragon.

Of course I had to include Trixie, as well, hopping along the way in front of Twiggy, her faithful companion (much like the hamster unicorn I included for Jester’s Fool card), and also an animal I at least associate with fun and play and curiosity. The apple is just, well, an apple. There’s no very deep apple symbolism going on here, more of just a general, Twiggy eating sweet things that she enjoys (and then maybe she got distracted by something else and the apple landed by the wayside). The sunflowers, of course, are a reference to the Rider-Waite-Smith design, and one I felt was fitting both for Twiggy and for the composition, to go along with the sun itself, and the happy fun ball.

Then there’s that. The Happy Fun Ball of Tricks. That I obviously had to include, and I early on knew I wanted to do with this very composition (as much as it pained me several times in the process). This ball she stole off some guy she didn’t like who didn’t deserve it (whether or not she knows more about this that she never told the nein), that she played with and did tricks with and that turned out to be quite more than just a fun ball of tricks. But I like the idea of it, this shiny beautiful golden ball, held up towards the sun, played with as a fun toy doing a bunch of cool tricks, that actually contains a whole bunch of sub-dimensions and an ancient wizard and a whole slew of terrifying monsters. And, you know, she killed a dragon in there. Which is certainly encompassing of positive outcomes, and of accomplishment! It’s not that the struggle and the dark and the difficult doesn’t exist, it’s about being able to overcome them, and gain knowledge, and bring back hope and happiness. And I think Twiggy represents all of that, in her strengths, in her joy and energy and confidence, and all her wonderful qualities that made her such a joy to watch, even if she was there for only a short little time.

M9 Kids/Next Gen AU Headcanons

I made the weirdest, most chaotic version of Mighty Nein kids with all the canon couples (plus ShadoWidoMauk because Molly's alive in this) at midnight last night.

35+ chaotic notes I love & I want others to see:

Fjord and Jester were told she was pregnant by Artagan one morning, laying in bed between them going, "Congrats on the triplets you two"

While Jester was pregnant, her and Artagan babyproofed the house by putting bubblewrap on the knife handles and flipped the doors upside-down (but they are rounded at the top and have glass windows so Fjord has on more than one occasion kicked it and broke glass)

They're born on April Fools day (or the Wildemount version of it)

All three of them are warlocks for Artagan with official Fey Wild court titles

For their third birthday he let them choose plushies (the same way parents have their kids pick their HP house) and they later become their Familiars

Each of them multiclass to a different charisma based class though (One is a Glamour Bard, another is a Wild Magic Sorcerer (flavored to be Fey Wild based bc Artagan), and the last one is Oath of the Open Sea Paladin (for the Moonweaver))

They have, like, a twelve year younger brother who's like 6 yrs old, a protégé in sculpting and just a green clone of Jester

He has one level as a Forge Cleric. His Plushie Familiar is a sea turtle to mess with Fjord

This kid actually gets dreams of the Wild Mother and when he first sees the statue in Nicodranas, he goes 'Daddy, that's the woman in my dreams!'

Fjord immediately calls Cad and goes "WE HAVE A WILD MOTHER WORSHIPER!" He is so proud

This kid also has super strength for a six year old and a higher strength stat than Fjord, Veth takes every opportunity to make fun of him

ShadoWidoMauk has two kids

Essek is trans in this AU so him and Caleb have a kid (who becomes a Divination Wizard (with a minor obsession in chronomancy) who uses tarot cards as her spell book)

Has a Bat Familiar who has the full title of Lord Spinkle of Den Nein, named after Jester's Weasel Sprinkle (yes, purposefully spelt like that, Spinkle)

This kid also has a bag full of cards (a playing card set, a marked card set for cheating, tarot cards, Moon Weaver oracle cards, spell cards, a Deck of Illusions and a Deck of Many Things)

We were thinking maybe a couple levels in bard but IDK

Then Molly randomly adopts an Aasimar kid that reminds him of Yasha

Aasimar kid is agender but is also an Eldritch Knight flavored for Dunamancy and uses dual swords like Mollymauk

Used to hide in their parents and older sister's coats, really shy baby

BeauYasha has two kids, TJ and another they adopt

TJ takes a few levels in Artificer but runs the BeaureBar and does side stuff for the Cobalt Soul

In the same vain as #16, Beau finds a Tiefling on a Cobalt Soul Mission and Yasha is like 'Molly and I swapped kids'

This kid is a problem child and Yasha and Beau teach them how to work through their anger (Astral Self Monk who works for the Cobalt Soul the same way kids volunteer at the Library)

Beau and Veth have a competition on who has the most kids so they will fight each other. Veth Wins

Artagan is 100% making sure Veth wins, idk how but he does

Veth has two more kids besides Luc (A Gloomstalker Ranger/Spore Druid and a Barbarian, Path of the Fundamental Chaos (What Ashton is))

Luc, obviously, becomes a Arcane Trickster Rogue like his momma and goes out on his own adventures with Toya, Clarabelle, and Kiri

The Ranger/Druid is born one day after ShadoWidoMauk's wizard kid and will never hear the end of it (does that thing where she go "When I was your age" then proceeds to tell them what she did yesterday)

BeauYasha's Tiefling kid is dating the Barbarian kid and they are both just figuring out their anger problems together

So there will be no war between the Brenattos and the Lionetts

ALL OF THE BRENATTO KIDS ARE OBSESSED WITH UNCLE CADUCEUS. They just are. Mandatory, they all say he's their favorite.

Last one is Cad, he felt like he was missing out on something the others had by being AroAce

Then Clarabelle knocks on the door with an Air Genasi baby in her arms going 'Yeah, parents are dead' and Cad sees this as a sign to adopt her

The only kid in this AU we have a name for, Cirrus Clay after the clouds

She is a Twilight Domain Cleric who worships every god? Polytheistic, mainly works with WildMom but has worked with all the different gods at least three times

Meditates in water because the feel like they're floating, has nearly drowned before

Honestly, this is Melora's way of making Cad face his fear of water by giving him a beach obsessed kid

ALRIGHT MAGIC SCHOOL TIME

so ! what the girls study:

tzuyu's a moon druid under the nature department. if you don't know what a druid is, they're basically spellcasters that tap their magic from the primal forces of nature, and as a moon druid, tzuyu mainly uses her magic to transform into beasts to fight against those that harm nature. yes she's very sweet she can turn into a hamster but she can also turn into a giant constrictor snake

chaeyoung studies evocation magic as a draconic bloodline sorcerer. yes, many fancy words. evocation magic is basically using magic to manipulate pure energy in the environment, i.e. blow shit up. as a sorcerer, her magic stems from a particular phenomena, in this case her bloodline, and manifests itself in her proclivity for pyromancy (setting shit on fire)

dahyun studies under the divination department, which is basically spells all about knowing things, past, present, and future. she's a knowledge cleric, which means her magic stems from her belief and faith in a particular god. i'd say she mostly uses a crystal ball or tarot cards to cast her spells and see things, and her magic basically gives her photographic memory or smtin idk HAHA

mina is a warlock ! this means she's struck a deal or a bargain with an otherworldly deity or creature in exchange for fabulous power. in this case, she's made a deal with a dark power (that i'll probably reveal later on) in exchange for having spells that can alter space and time. as such, she's part of the dunamancy department (credit to wildemount for coining that name) and studies chronurgy, or the manipulation of time. did i mention she's an elf? yeah she's an elf, elf mina fits perfectly imo

sana is another sorcerer, this time a runechild sorcerer (credit again to matt mercer and the new tal dorei book !) she studies under the gnomish runes department. basically she's got all these runes on her skin which she uses to make wards that can protect her and people all around her ! neato !!!

jihyo's a bit of a nerd in the department of lore. as a wizard, her magic stems from practice and study, so yeah, nerd alert. she basically has a sentient spellbook that she uses to jot down notes and spells and stuff like that (order of scribes !) she's also the dorm manager ! bc dorm manager jihyo is always my headcanon

momo's in the elven rituals department, and that's because she's a half-elf studying bladesinging (damn high ac wizards) bladesinging is basically an art form that's supposedly unique to elves. it manifests through something called the elfsong, and elves can use it to sort of "dance" with a sword. very cool ! and very momo too !!

jeongyeon's a cleric like dahyun, except instead of knowledge, her domain is death. yep, jeongyeon studies in the necromancy department. except instead of being more of a zombie type necromancer, she's more of a "i will kill you" necromancer and most of he r magic is harmful and more about killing people. did i mention she has a scythe? yeah she had a scythe

nayeon is a half-fairy bard ! bards are unique in that they draw their magic from performance and song, which fits nayeon to a tee ! she studies glamour in the department of enchantment, and basically has a silver-tongue ! also bc she's a half fairy she's super popular and basically everyone likes her

Has your character ever been in love?

Val: Yes, currently. Also yes, previously, but it was short lived and she's very aware now that it wouldn't have worked. (She has also broken a few hearts; namely, the heart of the poor boy that she first got intimate with. Kid recovered fine in the end, but she felt bad LMAO.)

Esme: Yes, deeply. Probably too deeply. Definitely too deeply.

What animal best represents your character?

Val: I feel like I've definitely done a daemon read for Val before so if this contradicts it then y'know, ignore me. BUT. I feel like she's kinda got some Staffordshire Terrier energy. (And I'm NOT just saying that cause I have one.) Idk, maybe the "loyal dog" trope is a bit too easy, but Val's not especially complex! She's fairly easygoing, a little goofy, can be a bit lazy in her off time, but she's a workhorse when she needs to be and strong as all fuck. Plus, yeah, she's real goddamn loyal.

Esme: This is another that I feel like is just too boldly obvious, but I think Esme is a hummingbird. The sheer agility, vigor and constant movement of those little birds really just suits. Plus, they basically fall into short-term hibernation every night to keep their metabolic rate from killing them? If that's not a direct analog to her meditation habits, I don't know WHAT is.

What is your character’s most recent or frequent nightmare?

Val: Most recent was definitely one of those memory-dreams that ran parallel to the time she got possessed and attacked her friends! There's a lot of things that Val has learned to do the last few months, but she still feels very vulnerable mentally. And carrying around an aspect of our BBEG in a bottle has got her worrying about it again.

Esme: Weirdly, it's a dream about drowning. Except it's not really a dream about drowning because Esme doesn't really know what that feels like. So what is really is, is a dream about sinking down into something she can't get out of, which usually still takes the form of water. In the worst ones, there are familiar faces just over the surface, they can see her, and they do absolutely nothing to help.

If your character had the chance to rename the party/give the party a name, no questions asked, what would it be?

Val: You think VAL has any better ideas? No. She's glad that no one really needed her opinion on the matter because she's got No Thoughts. (That said, she thinks calling the tief trio 'The Luck of the Devil' is very funny, and thinks that Rona and Sarula can be made honorary tieflings to join in if they wanted.)

Esme: The minute someone points out that the party initials make 'AATEE,' she's gonna want an 8 in the name somewhere. The fact that the campaign is set in Wildemount during the same timeframe as the M9 is just a bonus. (The 8 Of Clubs for their tendency to party is very good, but I think she could argue for The 8 of Cups for the same reason, and because it has a nice little tarot flare.)

But first, Esme's going to have to believe that everyone's gonna wanna stick around.

4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you’re really proud of (explain why, if you like)

The fight spirals around them as they find themselves unprepared for the onslaught that is the Iron Shepherds. Around Molly, fragments and possibilities swirl. In each movement he sees success and failure, balanced as if on a knife edge.

Dawn breaks as Molly falls at Lorenzo's feet. The world about him is scattered with options. He takes one and feels the weight of the glaive through his chest.

this is from Basically A God - a molly au i worked on for five months - and tbf it is two paragraphs but if i could share the whole thing i would. i love this fic so much and i adore how it ends. i really enjoyed writing a molly who could see both the past and future - a molly who'd seen cognoza, and jester's tarot reading, and the full mighty nein but could never reach it. i think there's just some inherent tragedy in it all

10. How would you describe your writing process?

i watch/read something and then think obsessively about it for a while. when i'm like that, the little things i do slip into headcanons and fic ideas. or perhaps a song i'm listening to that i've associated with certain characters will make me think of them.

once i have an idea, i usually write it in one sitting, or a few wherein i can capture the emotion the idea makes me feel into text - if i have a break i usually lose the feeling and the mood will shift a little. for my bigger fics - like thinner than a razor or any of the xhorhassian food fics - i do transcript/explorer's guide to wildemount/real world research and then write based on that.

for the weekly post episode fics i've been writing, something usually calls out to me from the episode after i finish it and then that's what i write.

Need to get your Changling Cleric of the light to stop wandering off? Just convince him to go hang himself up by the foot in the Vermaloc woods while you set up camp. It'll keep him in one location and keep him from investigating the obvious trap. The change of perspective can be enlightening.

Or maybe it's just the blood going to his head. ------ My Wednesday DND group, the Party of Fools (Set in Critical Role's The Explorer's guide to Wildemount's universe of Exandria), is working on making Tarot Cards of our characters and we chose "The Hanged Man" for my Changeling Light Cleric of The Luxon, Essan Torris Beltune (Currently on his second life). However when I asked what he should be wearing, and some of my my party, comprised nearly entirely of asexuals, said "His Vestments... and Red Shibari."

So.. Um. OKAY HERE YOU GO. SAFE FOR WORK SHIBARI. It is not sexual or anything, just aesthetic. Hanged man meanings UPRIGHT: Pause, surrender, letting go, new perspectives REVERSED: Delays, resistance, stalling, indecision

2020 Critmas Fic Day 25

Take a Chance…Catch ‘Em all (CR C2/Pokemon Crossover Ficlet)

It’d certainly been a turbulent Pokemon Challenge season, leaving many convinced the Wildemount Pokemon League Championship would have to be called off (reigniting the debate about whether the Menagerie, Dwendalian, and Xhorhas regions ought to separate out with their own regional leagues, given the near-constant tension and strife between them), but peace had been secured (for the moment) and the biggest tournament of the year was about to commence.

Seven entrants in particular were creating quite a stir during the tournament lead-up and opening ceremonies—as they had since emerging from seemingly nowhere early in the season. To some, they were nuisances, to others, heroes, still others saw them as loose cannons, but all could agree that they were powerful trainers with loaded teams. (Seriously, how did they get into the kind of shenanigans that ended with each of them having a Legendary Pokemon anchoring their teams, along with the now-standard Mega-Evolving or Gigantimaxing Pokemon?)

They’d traveled as a team; they’d trained as a team; they’d triumphed as a team—perhaps the only thing giving anyone else a chance in the tournament was that hey could not compete as a team, but would have to stand on their own. (But then again, each on their own was a force to be reckoned with for sure…)

There was Veth, who seemed to sing rapidly between ‘Team Mom’ and ‘Trouble-Maker-In Chief’, and her eclectic team: Buttons, her Klefki was her oldest partner; Whiskey, her Spinda was unpredictable—useful in a pinch, but he caused nearly as much trouble as he prevented; her Thievul, Rogue, made up for a lack of brute power with her blinding speed; River, the Gigantimaxing Lapras, seemed to make even her own trainer wary; likewise, Nott, the Sableye, had taken a long time for Veth to come to terms with, to work with; and the Legendary Zapdos, Motherhood, dared anyone to even think of messing with her family—blood or no.

Caleb had been traveling with Veth long before they’d met up with the other five of the Nein, and his Delphox, Wizard, had been with him even longer, as had his Mega-Evolving Blaziken, Fireball. Frumpkin, the Meowstic, had been the next, beloved, addition to the team, followed a little later by the Gigalith, Transmuter’s Stone. As a battler, Caleb was well-known for his creative tactics when employing Polymorph, his Ditto, but speculation abounded regarding how he’d come to have Atonement, the Legendary Shaymin, on his team. (Truthfully, even he could not say—though he’d sought it for so long.)

There was some debate and discussion of whether Beau was officially affiliated with the Ioun Academy for Trainers or not—at first, she’d seemed to be a runaway student, but now she appeared to occasionally be running missions for them as a kind of faculty member—but there was no denying that she was a skilled battler and a keen strategist. Her first partner had been a Snivy (now Serperior), the iconic Pokemon of her family, named Lionett. They two had struggled to work together at first (apparently), but they had come to develop a style that was uniquely theirs, unconnected to her family, and in that, partner and trainer had found their bond. Likewise, Monk, her Mienshao, and Cobalt Soul, her Mega-Evolving Lucario, had taken some getting used to as she navigated her relationship with the Academy. All she would say about her acquisition of Tarot the Xatu was that he was ‘a gift from a friend’; while her back-and-forth sniping with her Noctowl, Professor Thaddeus somehow (no one watching from the outside could quite say how) led to a decent win record for them. And guarding them all as Beau guarded her friends’ happiness and well-being was Sentinel, the legendary Zamazenta.

The bubbly trainer from Nicodranas, Jester, had quite the varied team that leant itself to a very unorthodox battle style. Trickery, her Mega-Evolving Banette, seemed quite the dark and spooky partner for someone so fond of pink and pastries, while Ruby, the Ninetails, had all the elegance and grandeur of her namesake. The Inteleon, Gentleman, was a recent addition, but kept a narrowed eye on anyone that got too close to his precious trainer; while many marveled that such a battered- and haggard-looking Zangoose as Sprinkle was still alive, much less still following his trainer’s coaching. While many dismissed Smeargle as a ‘gimmicky’ Pokemon, Jester proved time and again that her Paints could be useful if only one was clever…as clever, say, as the Legendary Hoopah, her beloved Traveler….

There was one other trainer from the Menagerie Region: Fjord, originally from Port Damali, whose own diverse team marked quite the convolute path he’d taken to get to where he stood now. He’d started after receiving Warlock, his Malamar from unknown sources—and it was that mystery that’d set him on this journey. Along the search for answers, he’d found Crystal, the strange Carbink, and Uk’otoa, the menacing Spiritomb, in short order. But whatever he’d learned seemed not so satisfy what he’d truly been looking for and, after adding his disciplined Kingdra, Captain, he seemed to change track altogether with his Mega-Evolving Kangaskhan, Paladin, and the Legendary Zacian, Star Razor. But whatever had prompted the changes, there was no denying the comfort and confidence he now battled with.

Caduceus originally hailed from outside of the three regions, and had joined the others after an unexpected confrontation with an Evil team had turned deadly, early on. He’d come to their aid, then come along, with his gentle Meganium, Cleric, Graveyard, his deceptively-spooky Trevenant, and his Polteageist with the on-the-nose-name of ‘Tea’ (apparently it was an old family joke?). Speaking of the rest of his family, he had been using this journey, at least in part, as a means of finding what had become of them, finding Decompose, his Shiinotic, and Gorgon, the Gigantimaxing Copperajah, and finally his parents, aunt, and siblings—thankfully alive and (now) safe. All the while, guiding, guarding, and anchoring his team was the Legendary Lugia he called Melora with warmth and reverence.

Yasha, the one member of the group from the Xhorhas Region, (if the wilder, southernmost part of it), was an undeniably intimidating sight—as were her first two partners: Barbarian, her Mega-Evolving Garachomp, and Orhpanmaker, her foul-tempered Hydreigon. But there was a softer, gentle side to the woman as well, clearly demonstrated in her tender care for the Comfey she called Zuala with an odd, sad smile. Yes, the Mighty Nein (as they were called for reasons no one in the watching crowd fully understood) were certainly the center of attention as the opening ceremony of the tournament unfolded—stories of their convoluted and dangerous journey to this point had spread on ahead of them, even ridiculous rumors that they’d single-handedly stopped the latest war and brought peace to the regions; and many were curious to see what they could muster as solo battlers, rather than the unit that they had operate as for so many of their adventures. Then, the final entrant of the tournament was introduced and his team revealed, and a ripple went though the stadium crowd and home audience alike—could this contender be the one who could upset what had looked to be a sure sweep for the Nein?

He was introduced simply as ‘Matt’, but there was nothing simple about his team: Pumat the Oranguru was a formidable tank; Kiri the Chatot hid some surprising tricks while her gimmick distracted attention; his Gigantimaxing Drednaw, Orly, was fearsome in battle despite a generally friendly disposition; crowd-favorite Essek, the Weavile, was no above using shady tactics where necessary, while Yussa, his Kommo-o tended to rely more on overwhelming power. But a pall hung over the arena as his own Legendary was revealed—what did it mean that he had a Guzzlord, and why was it called ‘The Eyes of Nine’?

As the ceremony drew to a close, one man turned away form the large screen outside of the stadium—he’d seen as much as he needed to, what he’d come to see. He looked to his own team of three—found along a path of a life anything but simple: Bloodhunter, the Grimmsnarl whose terrifying appearance belied a selfless heart; the colorful and fun-loving Oricorio, Carnival; and the solemn Chandelure he called Death while still smiling). Mollymauk nodded to the three of them with a friendly wink as they made their way from the stadium.

“Don’t they all look impressive now? Hardly recognize ‘em. Let’s put old Luci down once and for all and heave a heartfelt reunion—Whatdya say?”

rianne never quite had a normal upbringing. shortly after her birth, her parents (a witch and warlock) were both killed in a freak car accident. this left the small orphan in the care of her maternal grandmother, louisa davenport.

louisa made sure to teach rianne everything she knew, but it came with a great warning. growing up in the heart of boston, ma, she was taught to hide her powers from the rest of the world. hunters lurked around every corner and the elderly woman couldn't stand to lose her only living kin. it was also because of this that louisa taught her to use her magic for as much good as possible.

shortly after rianne turned twenty-one, her grandmother's health began to decline. it was around this time the old woman finally told her where their family was from. it was the first time rianne had ever heard of wildemount, but the curiosity inside of her grew.

her grandmother passed away in may 2017, leaving rianne a deed to a house in the english village and a decent sum of money to live off of. it shocked the young girl, considering for the majority of her life, she was convinced her entire family were simply a group of poor immigrants.

upon relocating to wildemount, rianne discovered things that she only imagined in her wildest dreams. it's been a bit of a culture shock for the young woman, but it was mostly positive... until the leyline split.

additional personality information

rianne is very rooted in nature and insists on doing things as naturally as possible. for every plant she uses for a spell or potion, she must plant a new one. she protects animals fiercely and believes they should be all but worshipped.

smoke weed every day might as well be her mantra. little lady is almost constantly high as it helps with her anxiety and tbh, just makes her feel better over all.

she'll fight with anyone that says there's black magic and white magic. while someone can do primarily good and bad, she firmly believes that all magic is gray and that every single thing comes with a price.

rianne, while fiercely loyal once she cares for someone, is terrified of getting attached to anyone in anything other than a slightly platonic way. she's lost all of her family and, honestly, can barely stand the thought of a romantic connection despite how lonely she is. that doesn't stop her from loads of physical affection and flirtation, however.

she fancies herself a bit of a superheroine of sorts and almost always tries to do the “right thing” in situations because that’s her grandmother would have wanted. (spoiler alert: what she thinks is right is usually wrong.)

she's always ready for an adventure and gets pretty antsy if she sits still for too long.

short tempered and reckless, she often finds herself in a bit of a trouble.

critrole pokemon au?? 👀 do you know what everyones teams are yet? & are they all trainers on their journeys or do they have different roles?

each of the nein are gym leaders in a vague approximation of a game set in wildemount! I don’t quite have full teams but I have partners and types!

fjord’s water type! - when you first fight him, his partner would be a water/dark pokemon, either a new one (serpentine?) or a variant of aegislash (emphasis on eye imagery), but late game he would have a regional variant of melotic, grass/water. his gym would be on a ship at the docks in port damali.

jester’s fairy!! - her partner is a galarian rapidash, and no one quite knows where she got it, considering she’s never been to the galar region. she claims “the traveler“ got it for her though no one knows how credible that is. her gym is at the lavish chateau. I also want her to have an alcremie for sure.

nott is poison! - honestly not quite sure what her partner would be, possibly a muk, garbodor, or serviper. maybe a regional variant or something? I do what I want. maybe it’s a new pokemon. I’d love for a button pokemon to be a thing and this is pure self indulgence babey!! her gym is somewhere in felderwin, I don’t think it’s a specific place, just the felderwin gym.

beau is fighting! - her partner’s a riolu! (later lucario) I actually sketched up a design for her but I don’t have my sketchbook rn I’ll add the sketch to this when I find it maybe? her gym is the cobalt soul monastery in zadash.

molly’s psychic type babey!!! - I’m not entirely sure of his partner either tbh. possibly gardevoir or jynx? possible it’s a regional variant too, or maybe a new pokemon?? a tarot themed pokemon cld be really cool huh. his gym is a circus tent set up in hupperdook!!

caleb’s fire type!!! - his partner is a shiny torracat! it’s one of the first ideas I had for this au. it’s always shiny it’s not a chance that he’ll have one, he just gots a shiny and honeslty he deserves it. I currently have his gym as being in rexxentrum but honestly I may move it to trostenwald (which would put him before nott in encounter order)

caduceus is ghost! - his partner is a sinistea that would late become a polteageist. I’d also love to make a ghost type mushroom pokemon, maybe even a variant of breloom? his gym is linked to shady creek run but it’s actually the blooming grove, you’d have to get through some of the savalirwood to reach him

yasha is grass!!! - not exactly sure what her partner would be, but something flowery. possibly lilligant or tsareena? her gym is not far from bazzoxan.

also he’s not really a leader but essek would basically play the role of champion? He specialises in dark types. his partner would possibly be zweilous or liepard but more likely a new pokemon? not exactly sure what but a pokemon based on dunamancy would be cool I think, especially with the geometric links I think that could be cool!
