Zero has an edgy pokémon coma theory, and I kind of love it.
Tumblr media
Obviously this is contradicted by a bunch of things, and presumably isn't secret lore the devs decided to include. But in the spirit of demonstrating how easy it is to develop a plausible conspiracy theory with sufficiently hyperactive pattern-matching, here's some "evidence" we found:
Apart from Wishiwashi, which might be a separate phenomenon (where do the extras even come from when it does Schooling?), no pokémon which is actually multiple pokémon exceeds a squad of six members. Falinks tops out at six, and Exeggcute has six but one of their heads exploded.
Random trainers around the map tend to only have two or three pokémon in their team. Game balance reasons? No! Only career trainers like the Elite Four or breeders bond with the maximum safe number of pokémon at once!
Gary/Blue has seven distinct pokémon, but only swaps one out when it- judging by its disappearance in the fight in Lavender Tower- literally dies.
The protagonist of gen 1, Red, shows up in the next game... totally nonverbal, hanging out at the top of a mountain, unable to interact except to battle. He's lost his mind to bonding with too many pokémon! The price of power!
Things this theory explains:
Multi-pokemon like Magneton- what makes Magneton a single pokémon, and not two or four Magnemite? Magneton is the configuration of Magnemite that's capable of bonding with a trainer as a single pokémon.
This is the function of pokéballs- they're a prosthesis for the organ pokémon have but humans don't that allows them to form psychic mind-meld links with other pokémon. It's not mind-control or convenient loyalty- you're in each other's heads now. Escape from a pokéball is rejection of the psychic link.
The original four trade evolutions- Gengar, Alakazam, Machamp, Golem- all become more humanlike on evolving. This is a side effect of trading a psychic bond with one human for another one, giving them more humanity to sample.
Things this theory makes way more sinister:
Tumblr media
The pokédex quest is way spookier under this paradigm. The box system- if you can't catch more than six, why do boxes exist? Actually, it's weird that they exist at all, isn't it? Boxing the majority of your pokémon is a weird neglectful thing that the games just kind of pretend doesn't happen- trainers rarely if ever acknowledge its existence.
What if most trainers don't HAVE boxes? What if that's something you have, because the evil professor gave you a special pokédex that can access a private computer system belonging to a confederate? For example "Bill's PC" or "Lanette's PC", as opposed to "[playername]'s PC"? You don't normally keep pokémon in indefinite stasis in a computer system- this weird app just exists to allow you to complete the pokédex without your brain exploding!
Tumblr media
In Red/Blue/Yellow, Oak gives Blue a pokédex, sure, but he clearly makes no attempt to fill it out. And... really, why would he? He didn't give his grandson the special pokédex that cares about whether you've caught pokémon. He just gave him the normal one! The one that's already filled out! Because of course a filled pokédex already exists! It's yours that records new information only when you catch stuff.
Tumblr media
The implied endgame here is... the professor wants to create a pokémon-catcher capable of melding with a legendary pokémon, to interrogate it about the secrets of life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are so many levels on which this doesn't even kinda work, but it's extremely fun to occasionally cut loose and take a swim in some cool refreshing Edge.

We'll pretend it's still Sunday...somewhere in the world, maybe it is! I don't know, ask my friend @frjsti, I suck at time zones.
The fun thing about taking weeks to post is that I get to collect all of y'all's tags like Pokémon. It gives me a little thrill to add another name to my list of people to thank--caught another one! This one's an Ultra! (Do I sound like I know what I'm talking about? I don't. The only Pokémon I can ever remember is Pikachu).
So, here's who I've collected since last I posted:
Thank you to : @alexalexinii, @artsyunderstudy, @monbons, @prettygoododds, @you-remind-me-of-the-babe,
@blackberrysummerblog, @nausikaaa, @bookish-bogwitch, @iamamythologicalcreature, @emeryhall,
@rimeswithpurple, @larkral, @youarenevertooold, @ileadacharmedlife, @thewholelemon,
@thehoneyedhufflepuff, @j-nipper-95
On with the snippets! Some of these honestly are a little out of date, since I've been collecting them for weeks and I've posted three chapters recently. But I'm sure y'all won't mind.
Also, did I count sentences? No, no I did not.
From Saving Simon Snow:
I frown at her. “Souls are real? I thought mages weren’t religious.”
Penny waves a dismissive hand. “We’re not. The word soul is just a convenient way to describe the core of magic found in each mage.”
I frown harder. “Wait, then. I had no magic, so I shouldn’t have a ‘soul’ as you call it. Why did the spell work on me?”
It’s Penny’s turn to look troubled. “And Baz is a vampire and has no soul, so that doesn’t make sense either.”
“He has a soul!” I protest. “He has magic, doesn’t he?”
From the Heart in the Well
“But what are we to do about this?” I point to him and me and then to the now-six inches of water lapping around my ankles.
Snow frowns. “Shit,” he mutters. “I hadn’t thought about that.”
“When do you ever think?” I snap. It hasn’t been too cold, but now, soaked to the skin, I’m feeling the temperature. I rub my arms. They haven’t gone numb—my vampire nature doesn’t really permit me that sort of human response—but I remember what it feels like to go numb, from back before I was turned. So even if the cold can’t really harm me, it makes me feel more human to act as if it could.
From Snow Fox:
I run my hand over my face, trying to rub away the exhaustion that’s dogged me since I brought Baz home for the last time. I’ve not been able to sleep through the night since then; between missing his arms around me and stress over my many responsibilities, it’s no wonder that rest evades me.
I don’t want to put Penny at risk. But she’s right–she’s the most likely person to be able to get in and get back out again. Every man in my troop, including Shepard, has featured on one of the redcoat’s wanted posters. Our images are plastered to every tree from Atlanta to Charleston.
From TikTok Dancer:
.He shrugs again. “Well, you’re beautiful.” He says it in a matter of fact way, like he’s saying the sky is blue, or oatmeal is what’s for breakfast. I feel that tug in my chest again. “How did you manage to stay a virgin so long? Or is it just that you usually bottom?”
“I’m a virgin,” I sigh, giving up any pretense of appearing sophisticated. This man manages to unravel every false front I try to put up. “Or, I was.”
He grins again. “I’m honored that you chose me then. Now, are you ready to go again?”
From Stars, Flowers, and Children,
On top of a mound of cash and jewellery (had Davy robbed the coffers of everyone on the SS Watford after we were abandoned there?), I’m elated to find the old stereoscope that Davy amused us with, so long ago. And under it, an entire bag full of view cards. I frown. This is far more cards than I remember viewing, in that long ago time. Then I remember Davy sifting out several of the cards, and stowing them away.
I’m immediately intrigued. I’m older now, not a child anymore, and I’m extremely curious to know what Davy considered to be “sinful shite,” not fit for my young eyes.
From Cupid’s Shield:
I ate until my pants were too tight, and, for the first time I can remember, I didn’t even think I could manage a sour cherry scone. So I decided to skip Tea and go up to our room to sleep off my overindulgence.
Which is why I’m sprawled out on my back in bed, when our door is flung open so hard that the crash of it hitting the wall shakes the room.
I sit up on my elbows and blink at the figure in the doorway.
It’s Baz. Baz. And a glowing golden arrow is embedded in his back.
From my COBB project:
Simon, as team lead, doesn’t have one specific thing to do. Instead he’s buzzing anxiously around, inspecting everyone’s work and generally making a nuisance of himself, as he always does. Baz is about ready to pull his hair out if Simon asks him one more time “How’s the progress?” Or he might pull Simon’s hair out, and I wouldn’t blame him.

The Summoning (ch. six)
Tumblr media
FT. Leon x Gym Leader!F!Reader
series m.list
WARNINGS: This chapter seems all over the place, but I promise it’ll come together towards the end. I made some interesting choices when it came to certain characters, but I believe that each choice works well with the story. I didn’t proofread this too well, so if there’s any major mistakes, please let me know!
Tumblr media
Hammerlocke stadium towered over Gloria as she stood before it. For some reason, this gym seemed much more intimidating than the others. She had to stop and make sure that she was ready, despite training nonstop since she left your gym. Hop didn’t, however, and had run along to challenge the gym’s leader. Marnie was nowhere to be found, but Gloria didn’t mind. She had mentioned a while back that she was set to be the next gym leader of Spikemuth. Bede had gone missing too, but she thought he’d be fine. He seemed independent enough anyhow.
The battle against you had shaken her some. She knew her strength, but fighting against you made her doubt herself. That’s why she was apprehensive about facing Raihan. If you were able to make her question her every move, then what would Raihan do to her? She shook her head, hesitating to take a step forward. To the untrained eye, she looked like an anxious gym challenger, yet to those that she challenged, they’d recognize her resolve crumbling. Up until now she had sailed through the gym challenge, simply due to observing those around her. But you… you had honestly frightened her.
Seeing that video of you battling the Kommo-o had just unnerved her further. She was thankful she didn’t witness it, seeing as she would’ve been to paralyzed by fear to escape. You were just that powerful.
She sighed. She didn’t have the time to think about that right now. She needed to defeat Raihan. Gloria looked down at the Pokéballs strapped to her waist. She could feel that things were going to gradually get more intense, she just didn’t know how. She thought back to the stories her mother would tell her before she passed. Each region has had a crisis with its legendary Pokémon in recent years, which Gloria believed to be part of a bigger picture. The most recent one was a few years ago when the Alolan region had things called ‘ultra wormholes’ open up. Researchers and trainers from all over jumped at the opportunity to see the phenomena, including her mother. Different wormholes led to different worlds, some that were even inhabited by human-like beings and Pokémon.
Gloria sighed. She was getting ahead of herself. She needed to defeat Leon before she could do anything about Alola. Her mind wandered off to her encounter with Zacian back in the Slumbering Wield. For whatever reason, Hop hadn’t seen it. Instead, Zamazenta had been the one to reveal itself to him. But why? How had those two legendary Pokémon picked them? What had led up to that decision? She sighed again. Her bloodline meant something to them. Hop’s too. Could they have possibly fought alongside them in a past life?
Hop suddenly rushed out of Hammerlocke stadium, running straight for her. She jumped at the sight of him. If only he were aware that he was a small piece in a much bigger puzzle.
“He beat me! He beat me!” He wailed, throwing himself into Gloria’s arms dramatically. She chuckled before pushing him away. Hop himself was a strong trainer, it was his emotions that he let run him. That’s mostly what caused him to lose. “He’s really strong, Gloria! Make sure you’re prepared!” She shook her head. She was always prepared.
She began to sign out her words. Her hearing aid hadn’t been working for quite some time, which made it a struggle for her to get through the gym challenge. She planned on getting a new one with the money she saved up from her gym challenge, but that wouldn’t be for another month or so. It was unfortunate.
‘What is his trial like?’ She signed out slowly, since Hop wasn’t exactly too quick with his Galarian Sign Language. She stopped and looked at him, glancing at his lips every now and then as he formulated a response.
“Oh it’s simply awful!” Hop whined, grabbing her by the shoulders and shaking her. “He drags out three of his gym trainers and makes you prove your worth! That’s it! But they’re soooo strong!!!” He groaned and hung his head. He was such a character. Always dramatic. Gloria smiled, nodding in response.
‘See you on the other side,’ she responded, grinning at him. Hop frowned and pouted at her.
“You’ve got this, Gloria! Kick his butt on my behalf!” He waved her off and ran in the direction of the PokéCenter. She watched as he left, gripping the straps of her bag tightly. She then turned to face the looming building that was Hammerlocke stadium. She swallowed nervously. This was simply just another step in her challenge.
She began to walk across the bridge, taking her time with each step. This battle would be easy. Hopefully. According to sources, Raihan wasn’t in it for the game, but for the thrill of battle. If she could throw him off with strategy, then she’d continue on undefeated. Gloria pushed past the doors to the gym lobby. Raihan met her there.
“Yo! I’ve been waiting for ya!” He grinned, showcasing his weirdly sharp teeth. She cringed. “Follow me.”
꧁ ༺ ─── ˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ ─── ༻ ꧂
You sat in your living room, your head between your hands as you stared down at your floor. Piers had since gone back to Spikemuth, promising to return later to check in on you. Leon however, was sitting across from you, his eyes full of worry. He didn’t know what to say or what to do that could make you feel just a bit better. He felt… guilty.
“Leon. Eternatus is clearly trying to get ahold of me,” you started out, “but why? Why is Opal’s family connected to it? What connections did they have to the Darkest Day? And…” you looked up slowly, your eyes meeting his. Realization had struck you. “It’s not just me,” you muttered in awe, your mouth slightly agape.
“What do you mean? Is Eternatus reaching out to people other than you?” He cocked his head to the side, racking his brain to make sense of the situation.
“That child, Gloria, and your brother Hop. They encountered the sword and the shield Pokémon in the Slumbering Wield a day or so ago, right? Those Pokémon hadn’t been seen in nearly two hundred years before that. Think about it, they must be able to sense that something dangerous is happening in the region,” you got up and walked over to the bookshelf that stood in the corner of the room. Dozens of history filled books lined the shelves, each of them provided by Opal. You scanned the shelves, your eyes landing on a book that you had seen many times before. You just hadn’t been aware of its significance up until now. “There must be something important about the both of those children that caused them to show themselves…” you slowly opened up the book, skimming through its pages manically. There was something in particular that you just needed to confirm. Sure enough. There it was.
A drawn out family tree of Opal’s bloodline took up two full pages, and two more families followed it. Opal’s handwriting was at the bottom of the page, drawing you into the generation. On the next set of pages was a tree of names that you couldn’t recognize. The last name added to the tree was a child, descendant of Adriana, named Gloria.
“Leon…” you whispered, turning around with the book in your hands. You continued to scan its contents, your eyes reading over each name on the tree. You hesitated to turn the page. Another, slightly shorter family tree met your eyes. The latest addition to the line was a child, descendant of Cedrinne, named Hop. Opal had documented their births, which ultimately connected them to you. “Look…” you passed off the book to him. You weren’t quite sure what this meant. And you couldn’t remember if you had any more of Opal’s old books that explained the significance of it all. You looked back at the bookshelf and then back at Leon.
If Opal’s ancestors were worshippers of the being that was Eternatus, then what were Gloria and Hop’s? Were they firm believers in the sword and shield Pokémon? Had they worshipped them? Were there hidden statues in their honor? You felt your heartbeat grow faster, now pounding within your chest. What did this mean? The world spun around you. This felt horribly surreal. Two fifteen year olds and a twenty something year old had been picked by Pokémon that were powerful beyond belief and for what? Was it them that would save the region?
“I…” Leon looked up at you, his eyes widening. You looked pale, and you had broken out into a cold sweat. “Are you alright?” He asked slowly. Setting aside the book, he got up and reached for you, to which you rejected.
“We need to go to the clearing,” you blurted out. “I’m going to see if I can get answers. I need answers.” You pushed past him, grabbing your coat and sliding it over your arms. You struggled to put on your shoes, your hands shaking terribly. Leon rushed to follow you.
“How are you even going to do that?” His tone was filled with nothing other than worry as he copied your movements. Once he had his coat on, he waited for your next move. You seemed frantic, and it was bothering him. He wasn’t sure why, but it was.
“I’m going to reach out to it this time. The last time I saw it, I was shown the true importance of that area. If I can just get it to show me more, then maybe I’ll be able to piece some of this together and have it finally make sense. And maybe then we can formulate a plan to deal with Eternatus and Rose.” You walked briskly, pushing past various tree branches that blocked your path. This plan needed to work. If it didn’t, then you’d be at a total loss. Everything would have been for nothing and Eternatus would then be unstoppable.
“Y/n…” The man behind you stammered, holding his phone in his hands. You payed him no mind and continued on. “Y/n!” He raised his voice slightly, which caused you to jump. Slowly, you turned around to face him. “Hop and his friends… they beat Raihan…” Your expression fell. Shit! You thought that you would have more time to figure out a plan together. Now… now he was leaving. Now you’d be back to square one.
“Damnit,” you huffed, looking at him with a pained expression. You didn’t want him to leave. Not yet, anyways. You needed him. After all he had done to help you, you needed him! “Well, I suppose you ought to get back to Wyndon,” you frowned, hanging your head slightly. “I’ll let you know if I come up with anything, alright? I don’t doubt that they’ll want me to participate in the competition, so I’ll be seeing you soon enough,” you paused, “just don’t get lost.”
“Got it,” he nodded, giving you a wide smile. A heat rose to your cheeks. “Just be careful out here. I’ll…” he cleared his throat, “I’ll see you soon.” Leon turned his back to you and began heading back to your house.
You continued on to the clearing. It somehow looked much more dead than the last time you were here, as if the life had been drained from it entirely. The statue stood before you in all its glory. You felt the strength of its presence. The hairs on the back of your neck rose. An overwhelming feeling washed over you, and suddenly everything went black.
Your eyes were wide open, yet you couldn’t see anything. Scared, you called out, sticking your arms out to feel for something you could lean on. There was nothing. In fact, you couldn’t even hear the ambience of the forest anymore. You turned around and your sight returned. Eternatus was in front of you, seemingly restless. It was as if it wanted something from you.
Hesitantly, you stepped forward, hoping to touch it. Your hand was a few centimeters away when the scenery changed. The two of you were back in the clearing, right next to the statue, which appeared to be in pretty rough condition. The creature let out a cry.
“What do you want from me?” You asked, frustrated. It wouldn’t give you answers. It couldn’t. The thought upset you. If it had been putting you through all of this, then why couldn’t it answer a simple question? Eternatus stood still, its silence eerie. The sound of footsteps made you redirect your attention. Your eyes widened. “Opal…”
The woman appeared to be a bit older than the last time you had seen her, and behind her followed a teenage version of yourself. “I’ve told you before that this is our history, but I’ve never told you why,” the older woman smiled, her eyes focused on the statue. She turned to face the younger you, gesturing for you to come closer. She had a far off look in her eye that made your heart clench. Oh how you missed her.
Opal cleared her throat before sitting down gently on the grass. “Come now, child. This story is quite a long one.” You looked at Eternatus. So this was its way of responding to you. You looked back at Opal and yourself. It had been here all along. A gasp escaped you at the sudden realization.
“A very long time ago, an event called the Darkest Day took place. It caused the Pokémon in the region to dynamax randomly, which led to chaos. That statue right there is a depiction of the creature that caused all of that chaos. It fed off of the energy that dynamaxing provided up until the two kings defeated it. With the help of the sword and the shield Pokémon, they were able to save the region and capture the creature. But they didn’t know what to do with it. Would they bury it? Would they turn it in? Well, they didn’t do either of those things. The brothers chose to pass it off to the region’s strongest line of psychics,” she grinned, “those psychics, dear child, are my ancestors. They entrusted them to properly handle the situation, to which they decided to trap its soul within the statue. Since then, it’s been a tradition to prepare the next in line for the responsibility of their choice. We look after it.
“You see, each of the women in my bloodline has had a connection to this being. Some have even reported to see it in their dreams,” she sighed and placed a hand on your shoulder. “I’m not sure if you’ll be able to do the same, due to your situation and relation to the family,” Opal paused, her eyes searching yours, “I believe that if it wants to reach out to you, then it will find a way. I’ve no doubt that it can sense that you’re now a member of the family. And while I understand that this is very exciting for a child your age, I need you to understand that this is a dangerous being. The statue must never break, or its soul will return to its body, do you understand—“
The memory faded away slowly. Opal had been the last thing to dissolve, which only hurt your heart more. Vast nothingness now surrounded you and Eternatus.
“You…” you muttered, staring at it in awe. “You want to be freed of this curse…” you trailed off slowly. “But… if you’re still in the statue when Rose awakens your physical body, then what? Won’t you just go anyway?” The Pokémon roared at your question. “I’m guessing that’s a no…” A sudden shock ran through your body, causing you to gasp.
“Save… me…” a deep and powerful voice echoed within your head. It sounded incredibly raspy, its words hardly intelligible. Shivers ran down your spine. You had no clue that it could communicate.
“But… I can’t!” You took a step back. “You’re stuck here for a reason! How am I supposed to believe that you won’t go with Rose when your body is awakened? This is dangerous. You’re dangerous. I refuse to put my region at risk.” It roared. Opal’s voice suddenly met your ears.
“You misunderstand… child…” each word was choppy, as if Eternatus was sifting through its memories to get to you. “I’m… right here. Rose… won’t… have me.” You groaned and covered your ears, shutting out the voice.
“Stop that! I’m not letting you out!” You shouted, taking another step back from it. You stumbled and fell. When you landed, the void around you had disappeared, the original sight of the clearing greeting you. The statue’s aura seemed much more intense than when you had gotten there, and it unnerved you. Slowly, you rose to your feet. You did your best to dust off the dirt from your rear before inspecting the statue. Everything seemed fine. No cracks or anything.
A loud, shrill cry suddenly met your ears. The sound was followed by a few thunderous footsteps. Each one shook the forest floor, and each one brought it closer to you. Horror struck you as you stared. Above you towered a dynamaxed Espurr, a Pokémon that was said to not have any control over its psychic abilities. You panicked as you felt around for at least one of your Pokéballs. Quickly, you threw out the first one you could find. Polteageist.
The Espurr cried out and stomped its foot, causing a few of the nearby trees to fall. Your heart sank. The trees weren’t the only thing that had fallen. The statue was now on the ground, reduced to nothing but tiny pieces. A black cloud flew from the rubble and into the sky. That must’ve been Eternatus’ soul. It vanished in an instant, taking the dynamaxed energy away from the Espurr and knocking it unconscious.
“Oh no…” you muttered, looking up at the sky.
꧁ ༺ ─── ˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ ─── ༻ ꧂
There was nothing more Leon feared than losing. Without his title as the champion, he'd be nothing. He sat in his private locker rooms, his head hung between his shoulders. From everything that Hop had told him, Gloria sure was a force to be reckoned with. Even Raihan admitted that he had a tough time battling her. He was proud of the girl for making it so far into the gym challenge, but he had a nagging feeling. If Gloria was strong enough to take both you and Raihan out on the first go, then what did that mean for him? Would he too struggle and inevitably lose?
He frowned. Being the champion was all he had ever known. He had remained undefeated since the tender age of ten, taking down the former champion at eleven. All he had ever really gotten the chance to do with his life was fight. Now he regretted it. He wished he had chosen something different as his passion. It was too late now, however. Leon was doomed to repeat an endless cycle of repetitive winning.
The intercom crackled as the speaker called for all of the challengers to make their ways to the locker rooms for further information. The first round of preliminary battles were about to take place. There were four singular challengers. Only one, if any, would be able to claim the title as champion.
Leon sat up, turning to look at the wall beside him. He wondered if you had managed to discover anything in reference to Eternatus. He couldn't help but worry. You had seemed so sure of yourself when he left, plus you had yet to send him any kind of message-
His phone suddenly began to ring. He picked it up immediately, holding to his ear as he waited for you to begin speaking.
"Leon this is bad," you sounded out of breath, as if you had been running. His heart sank. "Leon this is so bad. Eternatus' soul was trapped inside the statue! It wanted me to free it, and I told it no, but right after that a dynamaxed Espurr appeared and fucking knocked it over!! Leon! That accursed thing broke the statue!" your voice wavered. You were panicked, and now, of course, Leon was too. "If it get's back to its physical form, then we're done for! All of that research, all of that hard work we put in- wasted! Leon Galar is fucking doomed!" He heard you let out a sob. "It's all my fault..."
"Hey hey hey- wait- um," he choked on his words. Fuck. Eternatus was free. That meant that he and you were staring the inevitable doom of the region in the face. "You need to tell Rose. He needs to know what's going on. Where are you? I'm heading out. Hey, take a deep breath. We'll put a stop to this."
You sniffled, holding your breath to prevent you from letting out another sob. "I'm at my place... the boys are out at the gym... if they found me like this I- fuck..." You mumbled, simply verbalizing your current thoughts. Leon sighed and stood up. You hung up, leaving him alone with his thoughts. If he wasn't scared before, he definitely was now. He grabbed his cape and threw it over his shoulders before briskly walking out into the lobby. Several fans stopped him, but he pushed onward. Oh if only they knew the amount of trouble they were in.
He managed to grab a flying taxi and head out to Ballonlea. He tipped the cabby and rushed towards your house. The sky was dark. A storm was coming.
Dread filled him as he set foot in Ballonlea. The weight of his current situation was just now beginning to hit him. He was at a loss. If Eternatus was free, then what did that mean for Rose’s plan? His heart sank. If the soul and the body had been separated, then there was a chance that Eternatus was trying to get back to stop the use of its body. Unfortunately, the chances of that being the case were slim.
You came into his line of sight, your eyes puffy from crying. Without warning, you ran up to him, wrapping your arms around him and burying your face in his chest. A sob escaped you. Leon could feel his own eyes begin to water. He couldn’t tell if this was the end and it scared him. He hesitated to return your embrace. His heart throbbed in his chest. The moment felt so incredibly bittersweet that he didn’t know if he wanted it to last forever or not. Having you so close to him reminded him of how much you meant to him. You were everything.
After a few minutes, he let you go, taking a step back so you could collect yourself. It didn’t take you long to catch your breath before you led him back to your house. You stared down at the ground the whole time, your eyes focused on nothing in particular. It hurt him to see you in such a state. You looked broken, and there wasn’t anything he could do to help fix that. He frowned and looked away.
You opened the front door and let him in, avoiding looking directly into his eyes. You feared that he would get mad at you. Actually, you hoped that he would. You wanted him to put the blame on you and accept things as they were. If he did that, then maybe it’d be easier for him to handle it. Oh what were you thinking. You’d fall apart if he blamed you. Yet you felt you deserved it.
With a sigh, you sat down onto the couch. Bede and Allister were still out, blissfully unaware of what was soon to come. Your lip quivered slightly as you thought about what to say. Was there even anything you could say? ‘Sorry I fucked up and now the region is done for.’
“It’s not your fault.” Leon’s words pulled you from your thoughts. You turned to look at him with teary eyes. “How were you supposed to know that was going to happen?”
“But I—“ you sniffled, looking back down at the floor. He walked over and sat next to you, wrapping his arm around you. “Opal chose me to watch over it… and I—“ you cut yourself off with a sob. Leon pulled you closer to him and rested his head atop of yours. He wished he could offer you some advice. He really wanted to be able to tell you that everything would be fine.
But he just didn’t know.
He pulled away and grabbed you by the shoulders. His eyes searched yours in silence, as he was too awestruck by your beauty to form a sentence. He swallowed nervously. “I don’t know if this is the end or not, but I wanted to tell you that I’m so glad that I got the opportunity to know you better,” he took a second to gather his thoughts, “I wouldn’t want it to be anyone else…” he could feel himself beginning to tear up. If only he could tell you just how much he loved you. But now wasn’t the time. It would never be the time.
“I…” you sighed. Suddenly you were at a loss for words. Your heart ached, and you longed to tell him how you yearned for him, but you knew you couldn’t. You feared that now wasn’t an appropriate time. But if not now, then when? “Leon… I never thought I’d grow close to you. But… I’m happy that I did. I… I’m not sure if it’s all going to end soon, so I wanted to say—“
He leaned in and gently placed his lips against yours. When he leaned back, he saw your widened eyes and panicked. He quickly scooted back, looking away out of embarrassment. He could feel his face burning.
“S-Sorry! I-I thought that— and uh— um…” he trailed off, his voice rising in pitch the longer he spoke. It had been so long since the last time he had felt this embarrassed. He wanted to disappear.
“Can you do that again?” You asked slowly, reaching out and placing a hand on his arm. His head whipped around, his eyes wide as he stared at you. He couldn’t believe that you were serious. In fact, he was overjoyed. Forget about the world possibly ending, the one he’s in love with just asked him for another kiss. He could actually die in peace now.
Experimentally, he placed his hand on your cheek, his thumb caressing the skin gently. He then leaned in, planting another kiss on your lips. You leaned into it this time, placing your hand atop his. You could feel him smile before he pulled away.
“I think I might—“ Leon was interrupted by the sound of the door practically being kicked open. Instinctively, he scooted away from you, his eyes widened.
“Y/n!” Bede screamed, nearly tripping over his own feet when he saw you in the living room. He was horribly out of breath, and his eyes were wide with fear. You rushed over to him. He grabbed you by your shoulders and let out a choked sob. “A-Allister’s Mimikyu dynamaxed while we were out! I t-tried to stop it, but it t-took out my team so fast a-and… he said he’d be able to handle it b-but…!” You stopped him, your expression serious.
“Stay here with Leon,” your voice quivered slightly. Allister didn’t have any other Pokémon besides Mimikyu, so how was he going to take it down? Wait a second… you recalled seeing another Pokéball in his room, but you were sure that this mystery Pokémon wasn’t strong enough to take down Mimikyu. You looked back at Leon briefly before rushing out of the house.
Thunder rolled in the distance, nearly covering up the loud cry of a Pokémon that came from the Glimwood Tangle. You ran off in the direction, making sure you had Chandelure ready. You hoped that you’d be able to reach it in time, and feared what would happen if you didn’t. The world flew by as you ran, the cries gradually growing closer.
A soft groan met your ears, causing your heart to sink. You ran out into a clearing where the enraged Mimikyu had settled. To your left stood Allister, and in front of him was a tired looking Dusclops. You ran over to him and pushed him to the side. In the same movement, you brought out Chandelure, giving it free rein over the battle. You grabbed the child, looking at him with teary eyes. His mask was broken, hanging off of his face and revealing one of his eyes. He looked horrified, as did you.
You got up and turned around, watching as Chandelure fought off the Pokémon. You began to aid it, calling out moves and commands. Now that you were between it and Allister, you could rest easy. But not too easy. See, the thing with Allister’s Mimikyu was that it was by far one of the strongest Pokémon you had ever seen. You had just made sure to keep him unaware of that fact. It had always been an issue for you while training with him, unfortunately, but you knew that having this secret was for his own good.
With your body in between Allister and Mimikyu, you were practically a shield. At this point, you were willing to take a hit from the thing if it meant that he would be safe. You winced as Chandelure was attacked. Its pain was your own, and you could feel it gradually growing weaker. A pained expression crossed your features. Your knees began to weaken. You weren’t sure if you and your partner could keep this up for much longer. You frowned, bracing yourself for the inevitable.
But it never came. In fact, Mimikyu had returned to its normal form all on its own, now laying on the forest floor unconscious. You looked at it in shock before turning to face the child. He had been frozen in terror, a sight that shattered your heart.
“Are you okay? Are you hurt? What happened?” You asked back to back, moving him as you inspected his current state. You shook him as you spoke. The absolute fear in your voice would grow to be something he’d never forget. You pulled him into your arms and held him as tight as you possibly could, not giving him room to breathe. Tears welled in your eyes. Oh you were so worried. It made you more than happy to know that he was alright. “Let’s get you back to the house, okay? I’m sure Bede will be happy to see you,” you finally stepped back, fixing his mask with a smile. You gathered Mimikyu and carried it, walking alongside the Dusclops that Allister had summoned.
It was a miracle that it had withstood Mimikyu’s attacks so well. You couldn’t help but be amazed. How had he managed to find a Pokémon as strong as this one? Did he just get lucky? Surely not.
“We’re almost back to town,” you turned to look over your shoulder, giving him another soft smile. You froze. “Allister?” You turned around, your eyes wide. “Allister?!” You called, panic washing over you. “ALLISTER??” You raised your voice in hopes that he would respond. Yet you heard nothing. “Shit shit shit…” The Dusclops beside you sensed your worry, trailing alongside you as you walked deeper into the Glimwood Tangle. He had been right behind you the whole time! How had he vanished so quickly?! Your heart raced and you handed off Mimikyu to the Dusclops before breaking out into a full sprint on your search.
“ALLISTER!!” You shouted, out of breath. No response. You stopped. Your running had led you to the clearing where the statue of Eternatus once stood. Dread filled you. It was no coincidence that you would up back here, you were sure of it. You looked around the area frantically, stopping when you saw the child sitting in front of the base of the statue. He turned to face you as you got closer.
“My premonition…” he took off his mask and set it to the side. “I-It’s going to be fulfilled soon…”
A nervous chuckle left your lips. Fuck. “Come now Allister, let’s get you out of here and back home,” you extended your hand for him to take. He stood up and you picked him up, carrying him on your back carefully. It had been quite a long time since you had done this, but you figured the timing was right. You frowned as you carried him back to the house.
“Y/n..?”
“Yes?”
“What was that place?”
“Just an old shrine for the two kings, Allister.”
“Alright.”

“Those trainers that are fighting in the wild area are getting killed.”
“You think I don’t know that?!” Rose slammed his hands down onto the table, causing some tea to spill. Oleana flinched, her eyes widening slightly before she cleared her throat. He sighed and stood upright, fixing his tie in an attempt to maintain professionalism. He turned around and looked out at the large window. “What I meant to say was, I’m already aware of that unfortunate fact.”
“Is there not anything that you can do?” She gave him an exasperated look. She wasn’t sure if her love for him was worth it anymore. “Can you not issue a warning? This is a serious matter!”
“They knew the dangers when they signed up to take those Pokémon down,” he retorted. He couldn’t do this much longer. “It’s no one’s fault but their own, do you understand?”
“But Chairman the—“
“Do you understand?!” He whipped his head around, giving her a serious glare that caused her to wince. She frowned, hanging her head in shame.
“I understand.” She mumbled, rising from her seat in silence. She turned to leave, but stopped. There were so many things that she wanted to say to him, but he wouldn’t listen. He would never truly listen to her. Sadness filled her heart. He was so horrible to her. She hated him. But oh, what would she do without him?
The sound of her heels clicking on the marble floor echoed as she made her way to the door. Once again, Rose was alone. His eye twitched. His plan would be executed soon enough, and then he wouldn’t have to worry about anything anymore.
He grabbed his teacup and threw it across the large room in a fit of rage. Watching it shatter gave him a small feeling of satisfaction. The little glass pieces shined on the floor, each one reflecting a different perspective. He watched it in awe. Each piece reminded him of the different stages of his life. First his family, then his gym challenge, and then his rise to fame as the Chairman. His heart ached at the sight.
There simply was no escaping the path that he took to get there.
It seemed that he couldn’t go anywhere or do anything without being reminded of how much he had lost. And he had lost so much. He swallowed thickly. If his plan worked, then he wouldn’t have to lose ever again. No one would. In fact, the Galar region would simply be a thing of the past.
Rose laughed bitterly. He found it ironic that he feared death, despite having nothing more to lose. He thought of Oleana and sighed, hanging his head. The thought of her made his knees weak. He found her to be utterly annoying, and yet, she had been the only person to stay by his side since he had taken on the position as chairman. A tear rolled down his cheek. Confused, he wiped it away. He didn’t care for her that much, did he? He shook his head. There was no way. She was insufferable. But… was she really insufferable or was she simply just trying to help him.
He froze. Everything he ever thought about her he began to doubt. When was the last time she had smiled? He had no clue. Another tear fell, and then another, and then another until he was fully crying at the thought of someone caring about him that much.
He wrapped his arms around himself and shuddered. Maybe he did have something to lose.
꧁ ༺ ─── ˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ ─── ༻ ꧂
Piers had booked a room at the Rose of the Rondelands so he could be with Marnie for the Champion Cup tournament. The final rounds between the final challenger and the gym leaders was set to commence tomorrow. Both he and you were set to battle in it, as well as Raihan. It was sure to be an interesting series of battles. If Gloria were to win each of her battles and move on to the next round with Leon, then that battle would commence immediately after the final round ended. It would be a back to back event, with fans from all over tuning in to see the challenger Gloria fight.
The sound of knocking tore him from his thoughts, causing him to jump slightly. “Oh, come in.” He called weakly. Marnie opened the door, followed by Gloria and Hop. The children’s worried gazes made him frown. “What’s wrong? Did ya not get t’ the dessert bar in time?” Hop shook his head and frowned.
“Do you know where Lee is? He promised he’d meet us for dinner, but we can’t find him anywhere!” He sighed, hanging his head. Gloria placed a hand on his shoulder to comfort him.
“I don’t. Have you tried lookin’ around? He really could be anywhere,” Piers stretched as he rose to his feet. “Come on, let’s go lookin’ for ‘im. I’m sure he’s not too far from here.” He led the way out of the room and to the elevator. “So when was the last time you saw ‘im?” Hop furrowed his brows in thought.
Gloria began to sign. ‘He appeared right after we finished the first round.’
“Oh yeah! That’s right! He looked like he had gotten there in a hurry, and he seemed real desperate to spend time with me and Gloria over here!” Hop paused and frowned once again. “But then he vanished. He told us that it would be a late meal, but we had no clue it was going to be this late!”
“They were telling me about it, an’ I figured that you might know somethin’ since you’re in kahoots with him,” Marnie shrugged. “I don’t wan’ t’ send you on a wild goose chase just because.” Piers nodded understandingly.
The group walked out of the hotel lobby and into the parking lot. For some reason, despite it being about nine pm, the area was rather busy. They walked through the crowd and headed towards the plaza, where they were greeted by even more people. Piers looked around, growing more and more suspicious of the situation. He looked at Marnie, who returned his look. So she could feel it too.
“Why don’t you go check th’ station?” He looked at Gloria, who nodded in response. “And you, purple hair, why don’t you check the other end of th’ plaza. Marnie, I need you to go get some of the nearby Team Yell members.” She nodded and ran off. Each of the children went their separate ways, which gave him some time to think before he executed a plan.
His eyes scanned the crowd. An unusual amount of league staff members were in the crowd, doing their best to blend in by interacting with the crowd. Odd. Usually there was one by the station, but now there were at least five or six mixed into the cluster of civilians before him. Come to think of it, those civilians hardly seemed… well… to be normal. Piers was a well known celebrity in the region, and not one of them had turned to acknowledge him. He hated to seem selfish, but he found it incredibly strange.
Gloria rushed up to him, signing frantically about some guy in the station that had battled her and ran. She said that he was working for Macro Cosmos, the company that Rose owned. Piers scowled. Of course.
“Where did he go?” He looked around, looking for something— anything suspicious. If he could get a lead, then he’d be set. All he needed was a hint. He looked over at Gloria. She informed him that this staff member had a different set of sunglasses than the usual ones did. He smirked. That was all he needed.
Marnie returned with the Team Yell members, each one of them eager to help out. Piers quickly explained their situation to them before sending them off in search of the staff member. He instructed Gloria and Marnie to stay together in the plaza while they looked. He’d rather they face off this stranger side by side than them be alone. There was no telling how far this guy was willing to go.
It didn’t take them long to find that son of a bitch. When they did, Piers had stepped up to battle him head on, but Gloria offered herself up instead. Her raw talent never failed to amaze him, and apparently Hop felt the same way, seeing as he watched the battle very closely.
“Hey kid, you’re staring,” he elbowed Hop with a smirk, resulting in the kid’s face turning a bright shade of red. He chuckled and directed his attention back to Gloria, who had finished her battle and was now facing them. She told them that they could now use the monorail, but they’d have to be quick. Apparently Leon was at Rose Tower.
“You guys go on ahead,” Marnie took a step back from them. She looked apprehensive. “I’ll deal with these numbskulls and join you over there,” she turned around and headed off in the direction of the hotel. Gloria turned to Piers, gazing up at him expectantly.
“You expect me to lead this mission?” She smiled slowly and he sighed. “Alright, come on you two. We’re in this together.”
When they got to Rose Tower, they stopped. After all, Piers didn’t really know what to do. It’s not like they could just rush in there and demand that they see Leon—
“I’m gonna go right on in there and demand that they let me see my big brother!” Hop huffed as he began marching toward the tower’s entrance. Piers rolled his eyes and Gloria held him back.
“That’s a bad idea. You need t’ work out a plan,” he crossed his arms and sighed. This was difficult alright. And it sure was strange.
“I have! I want to see my brother!” Hop raised his voice, glaring daggers at Piers. “And you can’t stop me!” He turned on his heels and stormed into the building. Gloria ran after him, worry painting her face. Children. Leave it to them to make poor decisions. He sighed. He was going to keep his happy ass right here just in case those two needed anything. He doubted it though. They were quite the duo.
“Gloria, you didn’t have to follow me.” Hop crossed his arms inside the entrance, turning his head away from her. She sighed and shook her head. At this point she really didn’t have much of a choice.
The two children took a few steps into the lobby of the tower, where they were immediately confronted by staff members. Naturally, they had to battle them to get past them. Once they got past that, they were free to use the elevator to the top.
She turned to face him, looking deep into his eyes before reaching out her hand for him to hold. He blushed and took it, giving her hand a gentle squeeze as the elevator continued to go up. He could feel his face burning, but he didn’t mind. He was living the dream in this moment, and he was content with that.
The elevator came to a halt, and Hop froze. “There’s no way we’re already at the top…” he mumbled, bracing himself. Two doors to his left opened, a pair of staff members joining them on the platform.
“That’s right, kid. We’re gonna take you down!” One of them taunted with a smirk. He pulled out a Pokéball and looked over at his partner.
“We’ll see about that!” Hop grinned, bringing out Dubwool. Gloria nodded and sent out Inteleon.
꧁ ༺ ─── ˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ ─── ༻ ꧂
“Do you understand the magnitude of this plan?” Rose asked the man beside him as he stared down at the city of Wyndon. He folded his hands nearly behind him. He had called Leon in to inform him of his new job in this plan.
“I’m afraid I don’t…” he frowned, following Rose’s gaze. “You say that me taking down Eternatus would save the region from imminent destruction… but how do you know that’s true?” His brows furrowed. He really didn’t want to agree with him, but it was looking like he had no other choice. And after everything that he had worked for too… it pained him.
“It’s called faith,” Rose’s tone grew serious. “And I have faith in you, dear champion. You’ve never failed before, so what makes you think that you’ll fail now?”
“I—“
“LEE!!” Hop’s voice echoed throughout the room. The sound surprised Leon so much that he gasped loudly, his eyes widened with shock. Gloria ran up beside him, a soft grin on her face.
“Hey there Hop,” he forced himself to smile, “how did you make it all the way up here?”
“Oh it was horrible! They were all ‘you’re not gonna get past us!’ and we were all ‘think again suckers!’ and then we faced off against Oleana, who was simply mad!! I told each and every one of those people that all I wanted to do was see my brother, and they wouldn’t let me!” He huffed and crossed his arms. “Plus you still owe us dinner! It’s been hours since we saw you last! I was so worried, Lee!” Hop whined and pouted dramatically.
Leon forced a chuckle, shaking his head as he did so. “I’m sorry Hop, I really am. I had every intention of taking you two out for dinner tonight, but I got caught up with important champion matters. Listen,” he squatted down some to look him in the eyes, “why don’t we go out for breakfast tomorrow before the final round of the Champion Cup begins?” Hop nodded excitedly. He was practically jumping up and down at the thought.
Rose frowned. He had never noticed that Leon and Hop were so close. He envied them.
“Why don’t you just go on back to the hotel?” Rose asked, resulting in a confused look from Leon. “Yes, you too. You’re all going to want to be properly rested before to tomorrow, so just go ahead and get your rest.”
“You heard him,” Leon chuckled again. “Alright let’s get going.” He ushered them out of the room, still grinning. Rose felt his heart ache.
He missed his family.
He missed his brother.
Rose hung his head, biting the inside of his cheek so hard that it began to bleed. Oh how he envied Leon and Hop. And Piers and Marnie. And you and Allister. Each of you were so close to one another, and it hurt him to witness. It wasn’t fair. He had worked for everything he had, and he couldn’t have a family? Even before they died, his parents wanted nothing to do with him. It just wasn’t fair. He brought an unreal amount of money to their name that they had never seen before, and all he got in return was cut off.
It wasn’t fair.
None of it was fair.
His knees buckled and he fell to the floor.
If only his mother were still alive.
꧁ ༺ ─── ˚₊‧꒰ა ☆ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ ─── ༻ ꧂
You didn’t want to, but you had no other choice. You booked a suite at the Rose of the Rondelands, guaranteeing that Bede and Allister would have enough space to be comfortable. You refused to leave them home alone after the incident with Mimikyu. Naturally, Bede was reluctant to go back to Wyndon, but he knew he couldn’t argue with you.
It was late when you checked in, and the person at the front desk was half asleep. Thankfully she recognized you, otherwise you would’ve been there for a while. Once you made it up to the suite, you put the boys to bed and then rested in the open area. Everything seemed like it was moving fast, and to make things it didn’t even feel real.
Every time you thought about Eternatus, you couldn’t grasp that it was a real being. But it was. And it haunted you. Ever since that statue had been destroyed, bad things had continuously happened to you, as if you were cursed. You shuddered at the thought. Eternatus may’ve been a powerful creature, but it surely wasn’t powerful enough to place a curse on you. You weren’t even sure that Arceus was capable of that, and Arceus was the being above all beings.
You sighed, rolling over onto your side with a frown. You had a splitting headache, and wanted nothing more than to rest, but you couldn’t. What if you closed your eyes and Eternatus found you again? Or what if you dreamt about what happened earlier with Mimikyu? You feared what might come for you in your sleep. It seemed slightly irrational, but you knew it wasn’t. A groan escaped your lips. Secretly, you dreaded participating in the matches tomorrow. You never cared for them in the past, so what made them think that you would now?
It was probably to make it more challenging than the round prior. Which made sense given that they usually brought in Raihan and Melony to make a show of it. When they brung you in is when things tend to get much more serious. You’re a challenge in and of yourself, and that’s exactly what the board is looking for.
You can’t help but cringe at the thought. Why not call in someone like Piers or Kabu? Why did it always have to be you and Raihan? You groaned again. Exhaustion washed over you. Unfortunately, you planned on forcing yourself to stay awake. You just didn’t want to risk seeing Eternatus again. Not after the encounter from earlier. That was going to bother you for a while.
A rueful chuckle left your lips. Maybe you should look into therapy after this mess gets cleared up. Arceus knows you need it. Oh well. That was a discussion for a later date. You yawned. Your eyes felt heavy. You didn’t want to go to sleep.
You yawned again. Your eyes closed.
You dreamt of nothing.

I need everyone to know that I have a whole MDZS Pokémon au. That I’ve have drawn pictures for, which I will share with you over a few posts.
(‘Drawn’ is a strong word I think, because I did just trace over the official artwork and just make them ‘Pokémon-y’ lol)
A couple of things about my au- 1) Everyone has a team of three Pokémon, because giving them a full six is exhausting to keep straight. 2) their starter Pokémon are the ones with names, and the names are the sword names. If they have a named second weapon, such as the flute or the guqin, then the corresponding Pokémon is named with that name. This has created a kinda funny happening where WWX and LWG have two out of three Pokémon named, but the third one just gets to be the Pokémon name. Isn’t that a little sad?
First up, because as far as I have right now they are mostly irrelevant because they are post-plot, are the Juniors!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried to give a lot of Lans ‘bunny’ Pokémon. So LSZ and LJY share Plusel and Minon, since they are a pair! The two are very good at double battles.
LSZ tells people that his Scorbunny is his started, and he does kinda think that’s true to his memory. I gave him that because ‘bunny’ and I gave Wens a lot of fire type Pokémon, so I felt that it fit. His actual first start is his Phantump, which started following him as a very small child. It’s Pokédex entry states that, according to legend, they are stumps possessed by the spirits of children, so I thought that fit him lol. His backstory isn’t as sad here, and Yiling is simply the graveyard town that many Pokémon regions have. I’m still debating how bad the Wens fate is, so we’ll come back to this.
LJY has an Alolan Vulpix because its something I gave to many Lans. It was supposed to be his starter because many Lan children start with them, but he ended up finding a Magikarp in the cold pond first. He begged to keep it, and so that became his starter. It only knows tackle. (So LJY claims, as the tackle in question looks a lot like the move splash, and only hits the opponent some of the time. If it’s not 100% accurate then it’s only 50% accurate lol)
Why did I give him a Magikarp? Because the thought of LJY with a Gyarados is hilarious.
Tumblr media
And then there’s Jin Ling!
I had to think very hard about his Pokémon. I tried to give the Jin’s Pokémon that have the red dot on their forehead, and that includes Persian for a few. So I thought if it would be funny if Jin Ling had the Alolan version, since Meowth looks so sassy but Persian would look so dumb.
His Herdier is Fairy. I was really debating what dog Pokémon to give him here, and honestly, I just really like that line of Pokémon. It’s strong, and useful. I’ve used them on many gen 5 teams. And of course, this Pokémon was given to him by JGY, so he needs a Pokémon from his other uncle! Mareep was given to him as an egg from JC.
Most trainers in this universe get one Pokémon as a starter, and then slowly over their journey get two more that they carefully chose, since the teams are so small and they are more like life companions. Jin Ling over here got all his Pokémon within a month, between the classic Jin starter (Meowth) and the presents from his uncles. Because of this, and other factors, he comes off incredibly spoiled and disconnected from everyone else.
Not pictured here is the Pokémon he ‘inherited’ from his father. It will be shown when we get to that character profile, but it’s so high level, that it won’t listen to Jin Ling no matter what. JZX wanted Jing Ling to be safe, but his Pokémon tends to get knocked out doing stupid shit more often than not lol
Sidenote here, but while I don’t love the outfits I gave the Lan babies, I really do like Jin Ling’s design. I think he looks the most like a Pokémon protagonist!
I do also want to SVSSS au like this, but I don’t have good traceable images like this lol. Maybe one day.

The Moonlight Lovers characters in Pokémon :
Hi! How are you? I hope you are well! ^^
Here's a headcanon that I was asked for but I've lost the request. I haven't played Pokémon for years. The last pokémon I played was pokémon Moon. But I hope you enjoy it.
Take care of yourself and have a nice day! ^^
Vladimir :
If Vladimir were a trainer Pokémon, he wouldn't really leave his house. It looks dangerous outside, and he could be attacked by a pokémon. He would stay safe in his little manor, away from the city with his roommates whom he liked to keep him company. Why go out anyway? Beliath and Ethan fetch him whatever he needs in town, Raphael and Ivan keep him company and Aaron is never far away. Plus, he's got his pokémons with him. He's never alone. In fact, his pokémons functioned as emotional support animals as a result, he rarely leaves them and he is even less likely to leave the manor without them.
Vladimir mainly owns grass-type pokémons, which help him look after his garden. He's owned most of his pokémons since they were little.
He's not a great pokémon collector, in fact, his pokédex is almost empty and apart from the six that live with him and those of his flatmates, he doesn't know many… His pokémons have the widest variety of characters. He's never really worried about that, and after all, he's accepted Ethan into his manor, even though he's got a horrible temper…
Leavanny (Bug/Grass): This was the first pokémon he ever had, when it was just a tiny Sewaddle. He always goes out with Leavanny if he has to go into town on his own. She's his favourite, both because he finds her very pretty and because she defends him so well.
Lilligant (Grass): He finds her adorable, of course, all her pokémons are adorable (much more so than Aaron's, in any case) but Liligant is really beautiful, he looks after her a lot and it's quite common to see her with Vladimir in the garden.
Leafeon (Grass): One day Aaron brought back a whole litter of little Eevees, their parents nowhere to be found, so Aaron gave them all one. Of course, Vladimir's evolved into a Leafeon. Hanging out so often in the garden with Vladimir, it couldn't have been any other way. It's the only pokémon that's allowed to sleep with Vladimir. It sticks to Vladimir's back while he sleeps and Vladimir has far fewer nightmares thanks to its presence.
Ribombee (Bug/Fairy): He got this pokémon when it was just a tiny Cutiefly. At the time, the pokémon hid under his hair at the slightest sign of danger. It's still doing it now that he's evolved, but because he's taller, he messes up Vladimir's hair a lot and isn't so well hidden any more. It doesn't matter, Vladimir still adores him just as much and gives him everything.
Florges (Fairy): He discovered Florges when she was just a tiny Flabébé among the flowers in his garden. Naturally, Vladimir took an instant liking to her. Now that she's a beautiful Florges, he's very happy to have her help look after and protect his garden.
Yamask (Ghost): Yamask isn't normally one of the pokémon he would catch, but the sad look on this pokémon's face made him very sad, especially as it was wandering alone in a graveyard. So he caught it and now it lives in the manor house and scares off unwanted visitors. Vladimir takes very good care of him and makes sure that he is never alone and sad again.
Béliath :
If Beliath were a Pokémon trainer, he'd always be in town. He probably wouldn't have the ambition to become the best Pokémon trainer, but he'd often be hanging around big cities, meeting other trainers and showing off his pretty pokémon. Mind you, he wouldn't come to do battle, no, he's just there so that you'll recognise that his pokémon are the most beautiful. Fights are fun for five minutes, but then you get sweaty, the pokémon are injured and their hair is all dishevelled, and you have to go home to give them a bath - he can't do that all the time.
He's particularly fond of pretty pokémon who take care with their appearance and with whom he could parade around town without the slightest problem. The other members of the manor find this a little exaggerated, perhaps he could favour power over beauty from time to time? But, no. That's not one of Beliath's ambitions.
He doesn't have a great knowledge of the pokédex, he knows the pokémons he finds beautiful, as well as those of his friends, but the others he doesn't study and Like Vladimir, his pokémons don't have any particular character traits, so he doesn't pay much attention to that. However, all his pokémons are spoilt rotten. After all, what could be too expensive or too rare for such magnificent creatures?
Cinccino (Normal): This was the first pokémon he ever had, a gift from his sister. He spends most of his time with it, and if he had to go out with just one pokémon, it would be her. Cinccino follows him everywhere and he hasn't been separated from her once since he was a child.
Lopunny (Normal): He caught Lopunny when he was just a Buneary hiding in Vladimir's garden. He couldn't resist her adorable little face. Buneary eventually developed into a Lopunny thanks to all the care he received.
Milotic (Water): He caught him when he was just a Feebas. He had to work hard to get a magnificent Milotic, but he's very proud of him. He shows it off to everyone he meets in town.
Sylveon (Fairy): It was no surprise to anyone at the manor when his little Eevee became a pretty Sylveon. At the time, it was all he could talk about, so much so that the others almost thought they were going crazy listening to him boasting about his pokémon.
Brionne (Water): He caught Brionne when she was just a young Popplio. He loves watching her dance and sing, and her antics amuse Vladimir and Raphaël. He's only too happy to have a pokémon who can put a smile on his friends' faces.
Spritzee (Fairy): Of course he had to catch Spritzee, she gives off a wonderful scent and isn't she downright cute when she moves around? She's the latest addition to his pokémon team, he adores her and often trains her in the hope that she'll soon evolve into a wonderful Aromatisse.
Ivan :
If Ivan were a Pokémon trainer, he'd be a young trainer who's just left home and… completely lost. He doesn't really know what he wants to do; becoming the best Pokémon trainer seems to be everyone's goal, but… is it his? He doesn't know if he wants to send his pokémon into battle, it sounds mean when you put it like that and he doesn't want to be mean to his pokémon… He likes his quiet life at the manor, of course, sometimes he'd like a bit more adventure, but to go on an adventure, you have to get away from the manor and… it doesn't seem like a good idea at the moment.
His pokémons are all still very young. He hasn't had them long and he's just learning how to train them with Aaron. He still has a lot of trouble understanding all the mechanics of combat, and everything he needs to know about types and specialities seems horribly complicated. He much prefers to play in the garden or the forest with his pokémons rather than trying to train them.
He has a pretty good knowledge of the pokédex, mainly because he listens a lot to the stories Aaron tells him about the adventures he had before coming to live in the manor with Vladimir.
Eevee (Normal): This is his first pokémon and the only one in the litter not to have evolved yet. Admittedly, Ivan isn't the most motivated when it comes to training. For him, Eevee is still just a little baby and he'd hate himself terribly if anything bad happened to him.
Jangmo-o (Dragon): This is another gift from Aaron. Ivan loves him, Vladimir and Raphaël a little less, because this little pokémon is very noisy. Ivan is trying to teach him to make his scales rattle in time with the music.
Igglybuff (Normal/Fairy): It's a gift from Raphaël this time. Ivan loves to hug him whenever he feels sad, and he's made it his mission to teach him to sing. Maybe his pokémon won't be the best in battle, but does it really matter? His Igglybuff only seems interested in singing and he can't see himself forcing it to do something it doesn't like.
Vulpix (Fire) (Shiny): This was the first pokémon he caught on his own and it's also a Shiny pokémon. He had no idea until he brought it back to the manor and his housemates told him.
Pichu (Electric): He's stopped counting the number of electric shocks he's taken because of this pokémon, but it's still one of his favourites. He takes it with him wherever he goes, usually letting it climb on his shoulders.
Tinkatink (Fairy/Steel): She's the latest addition to his team. He finds her adorable and can't help thinking that she looks like a little baby with her rattle. He spends a lot of time bringing her bits of scrap metal to make her happy.
Aaron :
If Aaron were a pokémon trainer, his aim would simply be to protect his manor and his friends. In fact, that's why he trains his pokémon. He never catches his pokémon with a pokéball, in fact he hates it. He finds the idea horribly cruel. There was a time when Aaron was the best trainer in the world, but he stopped everything to go and live a more peaceful life. Sometimes trainers still come to the manor to challenge him, he usually accepts, as long as he doesn't damage Vladimir's garden.
He adopted each of these pokémons when they were just tiny little pokémons. He can't help it, if his housemates didn't stop him, he'd collect every pokémon he could find and take them to the safety of the manor. In fact, it's partly because of him that there are so many young pokémon near the manor, they know they're safe near the human and his Machamp.
Aaron often goes out into the forest to train with his pokémons and to allow them to do a bit more damage than they're allowed to do in the manor. His pokémons are mainly Hardi, Brave and Assured except Riolu, Riolu is sassy, but he's the youngest so he has all the rights.
Machamp (Fighting) : He caught this pokémon when it was just a tiny Machop. It's the pokémon he trusts most, as he uses it to protect the manor when he's away.
Mightyena (Dark): He found Mightyena when she was just a tiny, injured Poochyena. He nursed her back to health and she has lived in the manor with him ever since.
Armarouge (Fire/Psy): If he can't go out on the town with Vladimir, Raphaël or Ivan, he always asks Armarouge to accompany them. He knows that his friends won't risk anything with him and he's very proud to have such a strong, loyal pokémon.
Flareon (Fire): One night when he was walking in the woods to train his pokémons, he came face to face with a litter of Eevee. The parents were nowhere to be found and the pups seemed to be starving and sicking, so he took them home and gave one to each of them. His became a magnificent Flareon, but of course Vladimir doesn't want to see this pokémon in his garden.
Lycanroc (Rock) (Midnight form): His pokémon literally terrifies Vladimir. This tends to provoke a lot of fighting between him and Vladimir's Leavanny. Living together isn't always easy, but Aaron knows how to convince his pokémon to stay calm.
Riolu (fighting) : He's still just a baby, because it's not been long since Aaron found him. Is he his favourite little one? He won't answer the question. Of course he doesn't have a favourite, not at all, Riri is just adorable… (He's totally spoilt rotten and is probably the most temperamental pokémon in the manor).
Raphaël :
If Raphaël were a pokémon trainer, he would probably live at the manor with Vladimir but would often go out into town to meet other trainers, fight them and have fun. He's not a great pokémon trainer, he likes fighting for fun, but he's not particularly interested in being the best. His pokémons function as emotional support animals for him, especially his Togekiss, which he can't keep his hands off.
His pokémon types are mainly Fairy and Psy. Even though he loves a good fight, he's very protective of his pokémon. Listen, if you hurt his pokémon, he's more than willing to challenge you to a duel, a real sword duel between trainers with no pokémon to help you. These pokémon aren't the only ones who know how to fight, after all.
He doesn't know why, but he only attracts pokémon that are Jolly, Naive, Pressed or Shy. Aaron told him it was because he always gave off a sweet scent, but he doesn't think there's any connection.
Togekiss (Fairy/Flying): This was his very first pokémon. He got it when he was just a little Togepi. Raphaël loves it and takes it everywhere with him. He couldn't live without him anyway, and gets very anxious when he's not with him.
Houndstone (Ghost): Of course, no one at the manor is exactly reassured to see Raphaël befriending a pokémon that can suck the life energy out of its trainer. But Raphaël seems so happy with his pokémon that no one dares force him to part with it. What's more, Houndstone takes great care of Raphaël and always protects him.
Indeedee female (Normal/Psychic): This pokémon never leaves Raphaël's side. She's always with him, no matter what, and it will be very difficult to defeat her and force her to move away from her trainer.
Espeon (Psychic): Ethan was certain that the Eevee Aaron gave Raphael would become an Espeon, and he was not mistaken. Most of the time, he walks right next to Raphaël with Houdstone to guide him around the city and prevent him from tripping and hurting himself.
Swirlix (Fairy): One day Raphaël simply came home with this pokémon. No one at the manor was surprised, he looks like candyfloss, he smells like candyfloss and like Raphaël he has a passion for sweets, the only problem is that spending on sweets has doubled since he arrived.
Mimikyu (Fairy/Ghost): This is the most recent pokémon in his team. He met him in an old abandoned manor house and couldn't bring himself to leave him there, sad and alone. So he took him home to look after him. It's lucky for Mimikyu because he couldn't have found a kinder trainer. Raphaël spends an inordinate amount of time telling him what a beautiful and adorable pokémon he is.
Ethan :
If Ethan were a pokémon trainer, he'd be a doctor in a pokémon center. No, he doesn't want to be here, yes, you're boring him with your irresponsible trainer problems. Of course he'll treat your pokémons, he has no choice now that you've brought them to him. He's not a pleasant doctor, in his defense, he meets irresponsible trainers every day who hurt the adorable pokémons they swear they adore. He's got a lot to be angry about.
His pokémon are sassy or naughty... there's really nothing he can do about it. he only catches pokémon like that and it's not even on purpose. Vladimir keeps telling him it's because they're so alike and… he'd almost take it the wrong way if it weren't a bit true.
He sleeps with his pokémons around him, even if he denies it. He feels much safer with them close to him when he's asleep, and with good reason, after all: who would dare attack a trainer sleeping in the middle of his faithful pokémons?
Reuniclus (Psychic): This was his first pokémon, a gift from his parents. At the time, his pokémon was just a little Solosis, but he was already taking it everywhere with him (he used to hide it in his schoolbag when he went to school). Today, his pokémon has evolved, but it still never leaves his side.
Alakazam (Psychic): This was the second pokémon he caught at the start, it was just a little Abra, but he evolved it and it became a powerful Alakazam.
Indeedee male (Psychic/Normal): He always goes to work with Indeedee, who is a very efficient pokémon and a great help when he has to look after pokémons. What's more, he can ask her to look after the other members of the manor for him, which always reassures him.
Phantump (Ghost/Grass): He really wishes he hadn't become attached to Phantump, but he feels so guilty that he couldn't part with him even if his life depended on it.
Glaceon (Ice) : He didn't want little Eevee at first, but Aaron dropped him in his arms without giving him a choice. Of course, he's taken care of her and yes, he likes her, he can't deny it Glaceon is adorable.
Cubchoo (Ice): Initially, this was an injured wild pokémon that had been taken to his pokémon centre. He hadn't planned to keep him, but he needed constant care, so he took him to the manor to be able to look after him more easily. He keeps saying he's going to free him one day, but… he's made a place for him in his room and Cubchoo even sleeps with him, so… that's not likely to happen one day.
Neil :
He's the best trainer. Look, he can't help it, it wasn't even his basic aim, but his opponents were all… lousy, horribly lousy. He keeps letting new trainers challenge him, but he always wins. It's almost boring for him, sometimes he'd like a real challenge.
He's got two legendary pokémons and all the others are chromatic pokémons. Does he intend to get all the pokémons in the pokédex in shiny version and all the legendary ones? Yes, of course, he's not here for fun. He needs to show the world that you should fear him.
He knows the pokédex by heart, as well as all the techniques and abilities of the pokémons. He's a veritable encyclopaedia on the subject. He doesn't seem very friendly though, even with his pokémons, but that's just an appearance he gives himself. When he's alone with them he's much more affectionate, after all if they're part of his team it's because he loves and respects them a little.
Zoroark (Dark): This was the first pokémon he got, a gift from his mother, it was just a little Zorua at the time. He lived alone with it for a long time and is therefore very close to his pokémon. It's the only one in his team that isn't a shiny or a legendary. He wouldn't part with it for the world.
Umbreon (Dark) (Chromatic): He adopted him when he was just a little Eevee. He'd be lying if he said it wasn't his adorable little face that won him over. His Eevee quickly evolved into an Umbreon, and like his Zoroark, he's attached to it. This pokémon always walks beside him with a gait as proud and arrogant as its trainer.
Tyrantrum (Dragon) (Shiny): The power this pokémon exudes makes it proud. Admittedly, it's a bit destructive and it's pretty hard to get around town with it, but people are quickly frightened by its appearance and that's all that matters.
Ceruledge (Fire/Ghost) (Chromatic): Not his most impressive pokémon, but as with Umbreon and Zoroark he's very attached to it.
Xerneas (Fairy) (Legendary): This is the first legendary pokémon he's managed to catch, and he's very proud of it, often going out on the town just to parade it around. Given its size, it tends to create chaos around him, but Neil doesn't really care.
Giratina (Ghost/Dragon) (Legendary): He had a lot of trouble finding and catching it. He loves his scary appearance - he loves arriving somewhere with his pokémon right behind him and seeing people's faces slowly become terrified.
Léandra :
She doesn't want to be the best trainer, she just wants to have fun. Fighting is of course fun and she never hesitates to accept it, but she would much rather party and go to parties than spend an entire evening fighting other people.
Like her little brother, Léandra is particularly fond of beauty in her pokémons, so she likes to be able to strut her stuff with them while winning battles. But she especially enjoys helping them win beauty contests.
She's not looking for a particular type of pokémon or character, but her pokémon can all learn the Charm move.
Gardevoir (Psychic/fairy): This was the first pokémon she ever got, a little Ralts at the time. In fact, she wasn't really trying to catch pokémons at the time, just the young pokémon followed her around a bit and she finally decided to keep it with her. She looked after him a lot and he's now a powerful Gardevoir, and what she enjoys most is being able to send him to check on her little brother discreetly.
Tsareena (Grass): This is the second pokémon she's had and the first she caught on her own. She never leaves her team. It started out as a tiny Bounsweet and maybe she caught it because she had the same adorable smile as her little brother. Little by little, she evolved into a beautiful Tsareena.
Gothitelle (Psychic): She thinks she's a perfect match for her little Tsareena. These two pokémons have such an arrogant look in their eyes. In fact, she got them at the same time. She loved watching them play together when she hadn't yet evolved them. Now she almost always travels with these two pokémons beside her.
Aromatisse (Fairy): She caught it after learning that it could give off a very bewitching scent.
Vaporeon (Water) (Shiny): She didn't really expect to fall for this little pokémon, but she realised she absolutely had to have one after seeing her brother's adorable Eevee. Hers has become a Vaporeon, so she might have preferred a Sylveon like her brother, but she consoles herself by saying that at least hers is a Shiny.
Diancie (Rock/Fairy): Diancie is the youngest of her group. She had a lot of trouble getting her, but after several years she finally succeeded. She takes very good care of it, and it has quickly become her favourite.
Farah :
If Farah was a pokémon trainer, her life wouldn't change much. She would roam the forest with a group of friends, living as close as possible to wild pokémon and studying them. Becoming the best trainer wouldn't be her goal at all, but she would have fun challenging the poor innocent trainers who had only planned to go for a walk in the forest.
She knows the pokédex by heart, and even the rarest pokémons hold no secrets for her. She could spend hours telling you all about them without getting tired. Like Aaron, she never uses a pokéball to catch her pokémons and keep them with her. She doesn't like this way of doing things at all, and the mere idea of locking one of these pokémons inside a pokéball makes her anxious.
Serperior (Grass): This was the very first pokémon she ever had, a gift from her big brother after they left home. At the time, it was just a little Snivy. It was her brother who taught her how to look after it and train it. Now that her brother is gone, it's the only memory she has of him, and she'll never part with Serperior.
Lycanroc (Rock) (midday form): This was the first pokémon she ever caught on her own. At the time, it was just a tiny Rockruff and she really couldn't resist its adorable little face. She trained him a lot so that he would become powerful and be able to protect her people, and he became a powerful Lycanroc, the pokémon she trusts most to protect her pack.
Thievul (Dark): She caught this pokémon after watching the food supply disappear for several days. At the time it was just a little Nickit, but she managed to catch it and it eventually stayed to live with its pack.
Houndoom (Dark/Fire): One of the pack members' pokémon had a whole litter of Houndour, so of course Farah took one for herself. As every member of the pack has done the same as her, their camp is always very well protected.
Jolteon (Electric): He arrived at the same time as his little Deerling, the two pokémons never leave each other's side and they seem to be very popular with the older pokémons in the pack.
Deerling (Normal/Grass): People always think it's a bit strange to see a tiny Deerling around a Lycanroc, a Houndoom and a Thievul, but it was her Lycanroc that guided her to this little pokémon. It was injured and her parents were nowhere near, so Farah had originally planned to nurse it back to health and then free it, but the little pokémon hasn't left her side since she nursed it back to health.

Pokémon black 2 and white 2 really just droped the hardest Pokémon trainer design of all times and never brought her back aside from Pokémon Master 😔
Tumblr media
Like come on go ahead and tell me Roxie isn't just the coolest thing you have ever seen in your short life, I DARE YOU.
Oh yeah AND PLEASE STOP FUCKING SAYING SHE'S A GUITARIST, SHE'S NOT, that's a bass guitare :) Bass being my favorite instrument, so I will not let it slide. (Not insulting yall don't worry it's good if you didn't know 🔥)
Tumblr media
I mean yeah Generation 5 introduced a lot of cool charachters like N and my baby Iris (best Pokémon champion ever btw she's too cute) but none top Roxie for me, she's by far my favorite charachter from those games, and 2nd favorite Pokémon charachter (for now) overall only beaten by Wally.
Tumblr media
Also her ace is Scolapede... And I have an unleathy amounth of love for this bug so this only makes her cooler, AND HER BASS IS ALMOST SHAPED LIKE A SCOLAPEDE WHICH BONUS POINTS. ✨
Tumblr media
Also I know the Black and White anime is TRASH, BUT ROXIE'S EPISODE GOES HARD, with only 3 pokémons and a type disadvantage (I think? I haven't rewatched the episode in a long time) she knocked five out of Ash's six pokémon... And that final pokémon is Pikachu, so let's face it, the only reason bro survived was plot amror.
Also when she was performing lil' riffs on her Bass in the middle of the fight, I just ₍₍ ◝( ゚∀ ゚ )◟ ⁾⁾
I fucking love this pissed lil rebelious bitch so much, peak charachter.
Tumblr media
I'm yet to see her in the Adventure Manga, but she seems to be just as good as she is in the anime and games, I expect her to have just a taaaad bit more to her charachter in the there, as the Manga really likes fleshing charachters out even more than they are.
And cherry on top? HER OUTFIT AND PARTNER POKÉMON IN MASTERS EX.
Tumblr media
TOXTRICITY MY FAVORITE GENERATION 8 POKÉMON... The outfit too... AAARGH EVERYTHING, IT LOOKS INCREDIBLE, AND HER BASS LOOKS LIKE A TOXTRICITY NOW EUJDUF
(Detail but she was paired with Bass form Toxtricity and not Guitare form, fucking incredible)
She also is, to this day, the only voice acted charachter in the mainline Pokémon games, yeah, she just spells P-o-k-é-m-o-n... Idk I just find it really cute and cool asf. (Video by PLDHnetLite)
Her gym looks cool asf too.
And finally, her theme song in Masters EX slaps way too fucking hard.
Anyways, if you read all of this... You are again not mentaly well cuz no... Why? Would you do that? But I apreciate it! I just like to rant randomly and Tumblr being my Twitter means I get to rant as much as I want without annoying anyone! Yaaay
Thank you for reading, stay safe :)

Chapter 31- Part 2
Tumblr media
A surprising amount of evolution Stones around here, but I'm not complaining.
Tumblr media
Another one-way path…very sus. But I think we've found everything to find up here anyways, so I see no issues continuing.
Tumblr media
That's a neat item, but more importantly…I see those green patches leading up the stream there. And if I remember the location of that Read-Out right…
Tumblr media
Yeah, yeah, it's up there!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Swamp Field, huh? Not surprised, I knew this place looked like a marsh. But what does this Field actually entail…?
Well, it's the love child of Water and Grass Pledge, that makes sense. And it…sorta benefits Poison-types? Lowers grounded Pokémon’s Speed each turn, damages sleeping Pokémon for some reason…? Gooey, Water Compaction, Dry Skin- those make sense, it's a moist and swampy environment. Smack Down gets a boost and second type? And only Smack Down (well, and Thousand Arrows, but Thousand Arrows shows up a lot on these Fields sooo-)? Seems a bit random…
Some Water moves get a boost, some Poison ones, a few Ground moves…oh, the big physical Ground moves (Bulldoze, Earthquake, Magnitude) get weakened? Fascinating.
All in all…I dunno, this Field kinda feels like it's all over the place compared to previous Fields. At least with the other ones, I could see some sorta theming with the effects and how certain moves react- this one's kinda like that too, but not really to the same extent? It's just…weird.
Tumblr media
So close, yet so far- guess I just have to go around.
Tumblr media
More Tiny Mushrooms- these would be really great to have if I knew where to actually sell them. Like yeah, I can sell them at the Poké Mart, but you're supposed to sell the Tiny and Big Mushrooms at a certain vendor in Gens V and VIII for WAY more money than you would at the Mart. If this game doesn't have a vendor like that, I'm gonna be very disappointed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well at least the rest of these items are good. We're getting up to the Healing t, and…eh, my Pokémon could use some PP restoration, so I'll use it.
Also, I used two of my remaining Exp Candy Ms to get Prong and Bloom up to Lv. 43, because why not. So now, let's see what's up ahead.
Tumblr media
Oh hey Aster, wasn't expecting to see you here. Can you move please, I'm looking for Cain-
Tumblr media
Oh hey Eclipse, I was expecting to see you here because Aster's here. How long were those two lurking in the bushes…?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To be honest, Xera didn't even know Cain was here going into this, uuh- she just wanted to beat up Meteors, I guess.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So Eclipse is still holding all the brain cells, good to know nothing's changed on that front.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh? Oh, you wanna play that game, huh? You two with maybe three Pokémon each, and Xera with a full team of six? Fools. Buffoons. She'll steal your bones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
…Alright Aster, you set yourself up for that one, the saying is “two heads are better than one”-
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alright, starting with those two again? They're probably gonna double into Glare with Psychic-type moves, so let's switch into Kirin to tank I FORGOT TO GIVE HER BACK THE ODD INCENSE. Uh…that shouldn't affect anything in this battle, right…?
Uh- in the meantime, Riptide will just use Water Pledge on…one of them. Solrock generally has worse Sp. Defense than Lunatone, so I'll target that one.
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, I already forgot Swamp Field lowers the speed of grounded Pokémon. Hm. But this is manageable- I'll just heal Kirin real fast while Riptide finishes the Solrock. Probably for the best, it seems like Solrock is doing more damage than Lunatone.

Accretion, chapter 5
Accretion is a story that follows the rise and fall of Galactic Boss Cyrus and the fate of Team Galactic and the lives of those affected by it after its reformation under Saturn.
This is gonna be a sad one. I hope you all enjoy it.
---
The stars were, well, mediocre that night. There was only so much stargazing one could accomplish from the roof of the Veilstone building. And yet, Cyrus had spent a good deal of time there, sketching constellations when he was unable to sleep. It was peaceful- Veilstone might have been big enough to produce light pollution, but there was very little noise at night.
As Cyrus was connecting the stars on Orion’s Belt, a little orange spark entered his periphery and waved at him with its lightning bolt arm. A rotom. Cyrus attempted to wave it away. It was an immense coincidence that he'd come upon the same elusive species of Pokémon twice in his life, but since the world was to be destroyed in six weeks, he wasn't interested in submitting a new subject for study or introducing a new member to his team. It was useless to him and he wanted to be left alone.
The little rotom dodged his hand, grabbed onto his sleeve, and started pulling it back.
"What are you-"
It grabbed onto Cyrus' pokétch and looked him in the eyes as though desperate to communicate.
"Are you my rotom? From the abandoned garage?"
The rotom nodded.
Cyrus wasn't sure what to think. After all these years... After it had abandoned him when he needed it... "Do you... wish to possess my pokétch?" he asked.
The rotom nodded again. Cyrus got up and went back down the elevator that led to his quarters, the Pokémon following close behind. He pulled out his toolkit from one of his drawers along with the one rotom motor he'd never thrown away- the one from his now long-discarded toy robot.
"Screwdriver," Cyrus ordered the spark. Sure enough, it threw him the tool, just as it had way back then. Forty minutes and many alterations later, the brick-sized motor was ready to be attached to the pokétch, and the rotom successfully entered it.
"Why did you leave?" Cyrus asked the rotom, which was now levitating before him as the watch.
I never meant to leave! A trainer found me. He put me to sleep with one of his Pokémon's moves. By the time I woke up, I was in Snowpoint. I couldn’t get back. Trust me, I tried! I missed home. I missed you! Came the text on the device.
"I see. And why did you come back?"
Because I want to be friends again! The spark seemed to grow worried. If you do.
It took a moment for Cyrus to process that. His best friend had come home. He carefully reached out to the possessed watch and, once he determined that it was safe to touch, held it in his hands. "Yes, I suppose we could," he said.
The little face on the edge of the pokétch smiled brightly. Oh boy! We're going to have so much fun together! You've gotten a lot better at engineering, too! I'm not making static noises anymore, bzzt! Oh, there's one, but hey, nothing's perfect! So, what have you been up to, buddy?
And with that one question, Cyrus' heart sank. His rotom would be horrified by what he'd become. "I'm an engineer," he lied.
And you were okay without me?
"Yes. You leaving forced me to find my strength. After you left, I disposed of the idea of friendship entirely. I learned not to want or need anyone's company or approval, and my life was smoother for it.”
For some reason, the rotom’s smile flipped into a frown. Of course- it didn’t understand because it was an incomplete soul like all the rest. He'd have to lie about his story more than he originally thought.
"To get away from my family, I graduated a year early on scholarships and went to Canalave University. There, I met someone who was kind and accepting and treated me well. I began to wonder if there were other people like him and opened myself up to others as an experiment. There were others like him, and I came to have the friends and support I'd allowed myself to want when you were in my life. I received my degree, worked as an engineer for a few years, had an idea for an invention, received some funding from one of the only members of my family who was nice to me, and the rest is history."
That seemed to make Rotom happy. It smiled and bounced around as much as the short cord allowed it to. Text started appearing on the screen, and Cyrus had to gently hold it still to read it.
Wow! That sounds like just what you wanted way back then! I guess life really turned out for you, huh? I was sort of the same. Since I was forced to live away from home, I had to find my courage, too! The trainer released me pretty quickly, but I still got to meet so many new people and Pokémon and see so many places! It was great, bzzt! But now that I’m here, you’ll take me to the old garage sometimes, right?
"Of course,” Cyrus lied. What was he going to do with it? Have one of his subordinates release it far away from here? That seemed more humane than letting it realize what he was and what would become of the world.
Super!!! Now can you show me around your facility? It looked really big from outside!
“Yes,” Cyrus replied, scooping up the motor. He supposed this was perfect- he needed time to plan, after all.
“What’s that?” the rotom asked before they’d left the room, gesturing toward a shape hanging from a rack in the corner.
“That is...” a Pokémon he’d manipulated into evolving in order to use its strength. The only reason it was in his quarters was that it was now too attached to him to live apart without compromising its usefulness. “My pet crobat. You will be introduced to him in the morning.”
The whole tour was like that. Rotom wanted to know about everything. Thankfully, lying was second nature to Cyrus. Bombs became computer batteries. Pokémon held for experimentation in vats of green fluid became Pokémon they were trying to heal.
As the tour wore on, Cyrus reflected on his lies. The best lies were mostly truth, but his lie about his life... it sounded almost as though it could have happened. In another life, could he have been an inventor, surrounded by friends and still in contact with the few family members who'd treated him well? If he'd allowed it, would he have met more people like Saturn and seen his desire to end the world fade away? And then he wouldn't have to come up with a way to get rid of the little spark he held in his hands.
What's in there? Rotom asked, gesturing towards a door.
Cyrus stopped dead before the door. "That is..." the door to the grunts' dormitories. How many adoring grunts were in there? One hundred and fifty-three, if Cyrus was remembering correctly. And that wasn't counting the four commanders, or the numerous scientists at his disposal who had joined for funding and lack of academic red tape but who were all somewhere in the process of coming to believe in his ideals.
"I'm adored, rotom," Cyrus said, voice steely. "I'm loved, just as I wanted back then." He was useful to them. He was on a path to release the world from its pain, and even if they didn't fully understand his vision, his usefulness had made him more powerful and loved than he ever could have hoped to be otherwise.
Yes, everything he'd done- ruining his friendship with Saturn, lying to several dozen people, blowing up three lakes, torturing three Pokémon, locking himself into this lifestyle by becoming a wanted man- it hadn't been for nothing. If he'd gone down the path he'd described to rotom, allowed himself to be weak, then not only would he have suffered rejection from everyone he tried to befriend as had always been the case, he probably would have crawled back to his family and spent his life hurting others in attempt to gain love and contentment or in frustration from the lack of it. And then the universe would still have no hope for salvation. Both he and the world should be glad for the choices he'd made, and if his circumstances had led to this, he should be glad for them, too.
Cyrus felt the rotom tugging on his vest, pulling him out of his train of thought. Its screen contained several messages.
That's great! So, what's in there?
Did you hear something?
Bzzt, Yoo hoo, you okay, buddy?
What's going on?
"You may see in there in the morning. Come. I have something for you."
Yay! A surprise!
Cyrus knew now what he must do. He took Rotom to a supply closet and allowed it to select a pokéball for itself. It was only right since they were now trainer and Pokémon, he said.
Say, did you get to go on your Pokémon journey? it asked. It was more sedate now, the late night finally getting to it.
"No."
Good. That way we can go together.
"Yes. It will be perfect. Now return. Settle in," Cyrus ordered. The sleepy rotom left the watch and entered the fast ball it had chosen.
Cyrus took the ball and headed straight for Charon's quarters. Charon was always looking for new experimental subjects to extract money and glory from, and Cyrus needed his rotom kept apart from him. It was that simple. He knocked on Charon's door, and Charon answered it after a minute, looking like he'd just dragged himself out of bed. Most likely he had.
"This had better be important," Charon grumbled. "Master Cyrus," he tacked on for the sake of decorum.
"I have a new experimental subject for you. Its name is rotom," Cyrus explained. He felt the rotom bouncing around the pokéball in attempt to escape. He tightened his grip. "It is of utmost importance that you keep it comfortable. It is a new species of Pokémon, so there will be plenty of research to be done without breach of ethics. If I find out that you have gone against this, you will be terminated. And Charon?"
"Yes, sir?"
Cyrus fought to keep the tremble out of his voice. It was a good thing that rotom had come back now and not years ago, when changing his path would have easier and his willpower was less refined. "Keep it out of my sight."
The pokéball exchanged hands and Cyrus left, intent on finding some work to busy himself with until dawn. Six weeks and this would all be over. And then he would finally be at peace.

“Systems online,” Saturn said, pressing a button on the rather impressive control panel in the Galactic Base. The drones following the mission of the Spear Pillar came online. The giant screens that covered most of the far wall of the command center showed Cyrus as he walked through the caves of Mount Coronet with Mars and Jupiter at his side and a hand-selected fleet of grunts following behind him. Surrounding the main screens were several smaller ones showing the images from different drones. Saturn pushed a button and the large screens' image changed to show a helicopter manned by four grunts and carrying the containment chamber of the red chain. He pushed it again and it showed the outside of the Galactic Base. Saturn cycled through a few different drones before settling on the one trailing Cyrus. After that, he could sit back and wait, watching the screens and listening to the sound of twenty-odd grunts tapping away at drone control panels.
Everything was in place. The voice locks to the secret tunnels had been turned off so that a fleet of grunts, armed to the teeth with Pokémon and weapons, could flood through them in the event of a break-in. Another fleet was waiting on their second helicopter, ready for a command to give the Coronet team some backup. As Cyrus had prepared to ascend to godhood that day, Saturn had planned to be his safety net no matter what might arise.
And yet, Saturn couldn’t bring himself to relax. He felt nauseous. He’d known all along what this day would bring, but it was only days ago that it had truly sunken in: he was about to die, and the thought of what came next terrified him.
The past few weeks, Cyrus had been ready to snap at anyone who inconvenienced him. It was the worst bout of irritability Saturn had ever seen in him. Saturn had said something along the lines of “hey, at least the Spear Pillar mission is only a while away,” to try and ease him, and what he’d said back had chilled Saturn.
“Yes. Finally, all of it will end. All of it will be over.”
“...And the new world will begin?” Saturn had replied.
"Yes," Cyrus had said, sounding as though that was an afterthought to him.
That’s when it had hit Saturn: this was the man who would reform the universe. This hate-filled man, who hated humanity, hated the world, had precious few things he felt positively about, and was more inclined to destroy than create. What was perfection to him? What would be left after he destroyed everything he loathed? It was almost a comfort that Saturn, if he weren't a part of that perfect world, wouldn't be forced to see what the universe was about to become.
Saturn closed his eyes- an act that was only mildly irresponsible since there were so many grunts watching the drones- and thought back.
It was the Canalave University campus, the winter break before Cyrus had disappeared. A gentle snow was falling. Betty, who was floating by his side, levitated a long wool scarf and, using her telekinesis, wrapped it around herself from her neck to the tip of her tail.
“I can’t believe you bought Betty a present,” Saturn said. It was a good one, too- abras were too cold-sensitive to be out in this weather unclothed and too weirdly shaped to buy snow clothes off the rack for, so this would be the first winter she could follow them around outside.
“I had a theory it would work. I wanted to test it,” Cyrus explained, taking care to look uninterested. He actually looked his age back then- cheeks less hollow, eyes less baggy, generally more alive.
They were on their way to the Canalave Christmas festival. It had become an annual tradition of theirs since Saturn didn't want to see his family more than necessary and Cyrus wanted no contact at all with his. As they walked, Cyrus made what might have been a reach for Saturn's hand, but pulled back at the last second. "So... your romantic interest, the person you wanted to impress with your project..." Cyrus began, looking forward. "It was me, wasn't it?"
"Yeah," Saturn replied, looking over to Cyrus and wondering what he would do with the information.
"I see," Cyrus said, making another reach for Saturn's hand and then stopping himself.
The poor idiot’s at war with himself, thought Saturn. Without thinking, Saturn took Cyrus by the shoulders and kissed him on the lips. Cyrus reciprocated. He held Saturn close and ran a hand through his hair. What am I doing? He's not capable of a relationship. Maybe I just wanted to see what would happen. The two separated, and Cyrus was looking at him like he was the most beautiful person in the world.
Eyes open. Cyrus was on the Spear Pillar, watching mirthlessly as the Gods of time and space were dragged through portals by tight, burning chains. Behind him, two preteens stormed through, throwing out their Pokémon with intent to interfere. Cyrus looked back at them for a moment, but once Mars and Jupiter initiated battle with them, he turned back to his work. They were an annoyance. A possible obstacle to his destruction. Nothing more. Why had Saturn spent the last six years helping to put the universe into those twisted hands?
Saturn knew the answer. Back in Canalave, he’d often considered talking to Cyrus about his toxic beliefs, and after Cyrus had revealed his plan, Saturn had the same thought anyone would have: to run, call the police, and cut ties. But he’d wanted to see what would happen if he let Cyrus do his thing without interference. He was impressed and curious. And even now, even as guilt-ridden as he was, Saturn knew that he wouldn’t have been the first to try and stop Cyrus and presumably wouldn't have been the first to try and help him, nor was it really his responsibility to. Saturn had plenty of reasons for shame. He had followed a hundred immoral orders to earn himself this front-row seat to the apocalypse. But Cyrus' choices were his alone, and this was probably inevitable.
A multi-coloured shroud erupted from the two Gods. The images in the video feed from every drone dimmed as it covered the sky region-wide. Even in the windowless control room, the air seemed to darken. Cheers erupted in the control room, followed by rapt, reverent silence.
In one of the video feeds, Saturn noticed a squadron of international police officers running for the Veilstone building. He pushed some buttons, opening the tunnels to their secret openings and sending the reserve grunts an alert message. They flooded in through the secret exits and began combat with the now-outnumbered police officers. It seemed as though the problem was handled. Saturn returned his attention to the feed of the Spear Pillar. The lake trio had appeared, but it seemed that they were helpless to stop Cyrus.
“Excuse me,” Saturn said, turning to leave the room. The highest-ranked grunt in the room wordlessly took his place. Saturn wasn't sure what he'd do in these last moments. Maybe he'd call his family. Contact with them had been minimal in the past years as more and more of his life had to be hidden from them, but right now he just wanted contact with someone who wasn't celebrating the end of the world.
Just as Saturn had walked the length of the room and was about to leave, one of the grunts called out, "Saturn, sir, what do we do!?" Saturn turned. A shadow the shape of a centipede and the size of a building had appeared on the Spear Pillar. There was no protocol for this.
The shadow dove on top of Cyrus and disappeared into the floor below, dragging him down with it.

For fic truth or dare! 🍓🕯️🔪🌻🪲 please! (Any or all)
Thanks for the ask!
🍓How did you get into fanfiction writing?
My sister started doing it first and I wanted to give it a try (if one of us tries something, the other usually tries it too). My very first fic was based off a small detail I noticed on the edge of a panel in a Pokémon manga, and I wanted an explanation for that. It got in my head, and I wrote it, because I wanted to put it out there and see if anyone else had noticed the detail (I still actually don't have an answer to that).
🕯️On a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you enjoy editing? Why is that?
I'd say a 4 or 5. I see editing as sort of a chore. I don't actually READ when I edit, I just sort of skim and do my best to find any typos. On the one hand, it means that I have something to publish and that's exciting. On the other, it means I have to take half an hour or even more than an hour (depending on fic length) editing when I sometimes want to do something else or have a time crunch.
🔪What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
Okay, well, this works for both fanfiction and original writing, because I did it for the latter, but it applies to both:
Styles of men's underwear to figure out which one could hold a sanitary pad comfortably. I'm an omega verse writer and do go with the biologically male omegas have vaginas and therefore periods, and I figured not every guy would want to use a tampon, just like women.
🌻Tag someone you appreciate but don't talk to on a regular basis.
@keepmeinmind-01. They were the first fic author I really connected with. At the moment I am just having some trouble connecting with our mutual fandom, so it's been a bit since I read their story or we've talked, as many of conversations are spurred by the story. They wrote such a lovely review on one of my stories that I had to go see if they had a story I could read and review on.
🪲Add 50 words to your current WIP and share the paragraph here.
Dang it, Zelda, that requires me to fact-check, since I have like six WIPs and default to the last one I wrote on! All right, three minutes of fact-checking and one minute to kill a hornet later, here it is more than fifty words:
It started with Anthony Dimmond. Hannibal had met him in France, under the identity he had used there. The man bore an unsettling resemblance to Will Graham, if in a classier, more polished, English way. But that was not what caused fear to strike Bedelia. It was the fact that he knew Roman Fell. She discovered all this when Hannibal invited him to dinner. It had been a blissful few weeks, settling into the new routine they were building now that both of them were pregnant, but one day, when she went to meet him so they could walk home together, he told her they were having a guest over for dinner.
This is from my Hannibal/Bedelia omega verse story, La Sposa del Mostro, set during their time in Italy.
Thanks for playing!

Dear Sephiroth: (a letter to a fictional character, because why not) #15
Today was kind of a weird day, for reasons that aren't especially relevant to you. But that's okay, because I just got back home (it's like 6-ish at night where I live), and I'm about to put on some toasty pajamas, get under a toasty blanket, and play some Pokémon Scarlet. But first, I wanted to write to you just a little bit, haha.
I wonder if you've heard of Pokémon through your travels at the Edge of Creation; I don't know what sorts of realities and stories are accessible to you in that space. Pokémon is a game where you get to travel the world with animal-like companions who have superpowers! You can carry up to six of these companions with you at any given time. I like to make sandwiches for mine, give them baths, and walk alongside them whenever I can. In previous versions, you used to be able to give them scritches and feed them little treats, and have them respond meaningfully to you and to the environment when you talk to them (Pokémon SoulSilver will always be my favorite!).
I don't really like the fighting aspect of the game though. In the culture of the Pokémon world, you test the strength of your bond with your Pokémon by battling them against other people who travel with Pokémon. And the method of adding Pokémon to your team from the wild is… well… I don't like it. I don't know how to describe it except "you beat it up until it's too weak to resist when you capture it and abduct it from the wild." There really is no pretty way to put it; it's actually pretty gross if you really think about it…
I hope someday for a game in which the focus is on exploring and on solving problems and making circumstances better for the people and the Pokémon. Perhaps having mechanics like Tomba! would be good - in that game, you run around and help solve people's problems, and it's very nice. I hope someday, too, for a Pokémon game where, in order to add Pokémon to your team, you have to impress them somehow, instead of abducting them from the wild. Maybe that Geodude will only decide to travel the world with you if you can break as many boulders as it can, or something to that effect…
Well, in any case… lots of people draw you with Pokémon. Some draw you with Pichu, and that is good. Perhaps you might like Eevee, for its potential to become almost anything. Or maybe you'd relate well to Mewtwo; his story is heartbreakingly similar to yours, and so perhaps within him you might find something like a peer. I wonder what your team of six would look like. I'm sure you'd treat them all well, and I'm sure they'd love you.
Oh! Speaking of Eevee, I found this comic (I'm not sure who drew it, but it wasn't me!). And in some ways, the Eevee with the sparkling silver coat sort of reminded me of you:
Hey, you know? No matter what anyone tells you, no matter how you stand out, no matter by whom you've been abandoned or betrayed… please remember… please ALWAYS remember… anyone can love you exactly the way you are, right here, and right now. If nothing else, you have people like that here, in my world; there are lots of people here who can love you as-is. There are spaces in which you could be safe. There are places where you could belong.
I don't know what you tell yourself while you wander around the Edge of Creation, but just like this Eevee here, you are NOT an abomination. You're not a monster. You're a living, breathing human being who deserves kindness and care, just like anyone. So please be good to yourself, okay? Please be mindful of how you think about yourself and the way you talk about yourself. Be mindful of your needs and honor them.
I don't have much else to say this time; I guess I must be a bit more tired than I thought. I'll leave you with the same request as I always do though: Please be safe. Please remember that you are loved and cared for. Please remember that you are needed in this world. Don't go so far away that no one can reach you anymore. Please.
I'll write again soon.
Your friend, Lumine

So, I've been thinking...
I consume a lot of Pokémon content on YouTube. Whenever I'm dead tired after work or just looking for something to have on in the background while I'm playing Skyrim and whatnot, I'll put on some Radical Soda or Fatguy703 Pokémon videos and chill.
And yet, I have to this day never played a mainline Pokémon game. A crime against nerdkind, I know. I figured it was time to change that. After thinking about it for a little bit, I thought it would be cool to buy and play all the classic Pokémon games. Everything pre-3DS era, definitely everything pre-Switch era, before the games kinda... objectively went to shit. They're expensive and hard to find, but... I like owning cool shit, and I want to experience the series from a lifelong fan's perspective. I didn't really understand the hype about Pokémon at first, although I thought the cards were pretty cool as a kid, but now that I've seen the games in action I decided I wanted to be a part of it.
So I did some research on prices, and embarked upon my Pokémon game hunting journey. I didn't expect to find much. I went to six different stores: three local hobby stores and three GameStops. Most stores I went to, I completely struck out: not a single pre-3DS Pokémon game in sight. I did pick up a used copy of Pokémon Moon for $20 though. Low priority, but out of all the 3DS games I decided Sun & Moon were at least worth a shot, and for that price, why not? This one even came with a case, which wasn't important to me but it's nice to have I suppose.
Tumblr media
I did manage to find two of the games I was looking for at one of the GameStop locations: Black 2 and Soul Silver. But boyo, they did not come cheap.
Tumblr media
Yes, DS era Pokémon games really are this expensive. $75 was about what I expected for Soul Silver, but $90 seemed a bit steep for Black 2, until I realized that trying to get an authentic copy for $80 would be pushing my luck. I feel quite lucky to have come by Soul Silver, in any case. I hear the Johto remakes are highly sought after.
The store I got these at also had original Black and White, Diamond and Pearl, Heart Gold, and surprisingly, Leaf Green. I skipped all of them because I felt the asking price was too high based on my earlier research (the Leaf Green cartridge was priced at a hundred fucking dollars). Additionally, a friend of mine has offered to give me his copy of Pokémon Platinum. Once he finds it, that is. So I had no reason to buy Diamond or Pearl anyway.
I've got two of the games I knew I wanted for sure now. Just six more to go. Thankfully, the only other game that's crazy expensive is Emerald. The rest are all a good bit cheaper than what I had to put down for Soul Silver and Black 2. I'll post some more when I can get my hands on the others.
As for everything 3DS era and onwards, I'm still debating whether or not to play them all. The games can all be had pretty cheap but there are so damn many of them, and for offering such a subpar experience I'm not sure it's even worth it to play them all. This is partially why I was willing to drop ninety bucks to get Black 2; it gives me a complete, quality Pokémon experience and is still cheaper than buying five modern Pokémon games that are all mediocre at best.
So for now I'm focusing on picking up the classics. I've tested my Soul Silver and Black 2 to make sure they work and are authentic, but I'm going to put off playing them for now. I want to try and play all the games in chronological order, so I need to get my hands on Yellow first.
I think posting about my experience with all the Pokémon games will be fun as well. Not sure exactly what I want to do, but it'll probably be a "Pokémon Diary" kind of thing. Similar to how I used to post daily updates on my progress in Genshin Impact, but more personal and less me nerding out over min-maxing in a gacha game.
Anyway, time to go troll eBay for deals on Pokémon Yellow.

worldbuilding headcanon; I really need to make a banner for these. Anyway. Let's talk about pokémon leagues! We're going to discuss the general responsibilities of regional pokémon leagues, and then we're going to discuss the concept of the International League. Onward, unto the wall of text!
Regional Leagues
Note that all of this comes with a big asterisk as the precise details vary dramatically from region to region. Obviously, Alola, for example, is quite different from the rest, but that's neither here nor there. Broadly speaking, we can assume this applies to MOST leagues, and we can identify the exceptions and weird cases later.
So—the Pokémon League as an institution is more than just the gym challenge. I, of course, am not the first person to hold this headcanon, nor the first to write it out. Multiple generations of games have even begun to imply this now! Sweet, sweet validation! Now, the actual structure of the league as far as who's in charge and oversees what (is it a chairman like in Galar, is it a Top Champion like in Paldea, is it something else entirely like in Alola, etc.?) varies WILDLY from region to region, so we will not be getting into the particulars of that. But at the end of the day we can assume there's multiple levels involved in the whole thing, and we can assume going forward that when I say "the league" from here on in I mean the administrative part, not the front-facing parts.
So, broadly speaking, most leagues have some association with their regional government. It's not like you have to pay to do gym battles or anything, so we can probably conclude that it's publicly funded to some degree. In many cases, the league can best be described as its own department within the government, just as the FDA or DoJ would be. (I understand this probably sounds silly to many of my fellow Americans, but given how rooted pokémon are in society, it doesn't seem that far-fetched, at least for a world that broadly seems to have its shit slightly more together than we do.) That all said, yes, the league is—if not a governmental organization, then a private one that works closely with the government because Galar does appear to be alarmingly more American in that respect and handles quite a few things associated with that. So let's go through the list.
First, and most obvious: Trainer Cards! The league is responsible for issuing trainer ID cards, which are what permit folks to battle, trade, and breed pokémon (with some exception), and use the PC system. Now, battling and capturing pokémon without a Trainer ID isn't strictly illegal, but there are limitations. Possessing many pokémon without a Trainer ID is (typically, most regions define the upper limit as 2 per person, or one per person per household). And while engaging in trainer verses trainer battles without ID is technically illegal, usually punishable by fine, most regions will just look the other way as long as it's not actively harmful, disruptive, dangerous, or otherwise breaking any other laws. There's really no need to enforce it on the two six year olds having their caterpies fight on the playground. Trainer IDs can, of course, also be revoked for numerous reasons relating to past offenses. It is EXPLICITLY illegal to breed pokémon without ID, however. In addition, unsurprisingly, gym battles and other "formal" pokémon battling facilities cannot be participated in without a Trainer Card.
The PC System. Broadly, the PC system's servers are managed and operated by the Pokémon League. Since every trainer has their own set of boxes, these are associated with trainer ID. Basically, if you don't have a Trainer Card, you can't use the PC, wholesale. I could dig into this more but that's a WHOLE other headcanon so let's just not.
Setting and Enforcing Regional Battle Standards. Why do some pokémon "not exist" in certain regions? Why can a pokémon's moveset suddenly change between generations? Why are battles strictly turn based in the mainline games when they had additional speed components in Legends? Regional Battle Standards! The League is in charge of setting what pokémon, moves, items, etc. are permissible in official battle, which is the format used in gyms, e4, and to some degree in most battle facilities. They set restrictions on battlefield size, legal movesets, legal pokémon, and so forth. So if any of these things do or don't exist in a given region's game, it's not that they aren't present*, it's just that you're not allowed to use them in League-Sanctioned battles there. So you can technically own a Tepig in Paldea, you just can't use it at the gyms or league. Failure to follow these standards isn't a huge deal, at worst mistakenly breaking the rules may render a league battle invalid or failed and require a trainer to repeat a challenge. Taking a league battle outside of a designated field, for example, may result in automatic forfeit or a penalty of some kind. Knowingly breaking these standards by using unapproved, potentially dangerous moves or entering battle with unsanctioned pokémon can earn a fine or even a strike towards having a Trainer Card revoked, in extreme cases.
*Some leagues do restrict this further and forbid any battling with certain pokémon, including wild battles outside of emergency circumstances, largely due to ecological reasons. Galar is known for being heavily restrictive in this respect.
Public Research and Battle Safety Standards. Overlapping slightly with the above, publicly funded pokémon research is technically overseen by the league. The "Regional Professor" is typically the head of this particular division and assists in setting battle standards and battle safety regulations based on ongoing research, among other things. Of course, independent researchers still very much exist, as do researchers employed by specific organizations, and so on and so forth. You get the picture. Mainly, this feeds into the next one:
Enforcement of Battle Safety and Pokémon Care Standards. Again, a bit self-explanatory, but as the League sets the standard for regional law regarding safe battling, pokémon well-being, and so forth, they also ensure that their own facilities are following this standard and have sub-departments dedicated to investigating private organizations or other groups that may be violating these standards. Failure to meet these standards can be anything from having a trainer card revoked and fines to jail time if the case is extreme enough. By and large this is typically where a lot of a league's time, effort, and funding goes towards, as pokémon are critical to many aspects of life. Like. There are, presumably, pokémon labor standards. This is like OSHA for pokémon.
Ranger Unions?. While the regional Ranger Union usually isn't directly within the League, they are very intrinsically tied institutions and work closely with each other, to the point where most people assume that they are the same. This is not true, however! Ranger Unions deal with wild pokémon, conservation, and public safety. There is considerable overlap—both Ranger Unions and Leagues help to maintain the routes between cities, for example, and ensure that trainers passing through them are safe, but the Ranger Union is the one that actually dispatches rangers to regularly conduct searches and handle any particularly dangerous pokémon. The league deals with the trainers themselves more directly. The head of a region's league and the head of their Ranger Union are ostensibly partners and work very closely with one another.
Other Battle Facilities and Alternative Battle Styles?. Officially speaking, facilities like the Battle Subway, Battle Tree, Battle Tower, et cetera are usually overseen by the League in some capacity, though many are private facilities that are not necessarily owned by the League. They're subject to League Standards, but can enforce their own rules on top of them (such as further restricting permissible pokémon usage). Additionally, non-battle or battle-adjacent matters like Contests are considered to be part of the League, and typically have their own sub-departments for unique rules and standards applied there.
The International League
The International League, as it sounds, is an inter-regional organization that meets once a year. Representatives from each region—typically, league officials and champions (if they aren't the same person—so in Galar, both Chairman Rose and Leon would presumably be present), as well as the Regional Professor—meet and discuss regional standards, research, and other such concerns. The International League is a large part of why "new" regions appear—a new generation of games marks an introduction to the International League.
While International League standards do not necessarily apply to every region on a regional league level, and regional leagues have the right to enforce their own standards as they see fit for various events, tournaments, and so forth within their own regions. However, large-scale world tournaments typically follow International League rules. Likewise, Trainer Cards, PC systems, and so forth all carry over between individual regional leagues that are a part of the International League. So if you're a trainer in Kanto, you can go catch pokémon and challenge gyms in Unova without having to file for a new trainer card and all that jazz. Some leagues also have special provisions for challenging champions and elite 4 if you have the necessary badges from another league (or leagues), but this is usually a rare case, if only because it's much more common for trainers of that caliber to not bother with the official route and just do casual matches.

You know your depiction of Emmet being a package of pure kickass in jailbirds gave me an amazing idea; Emmet, in your work, can use ingos Pokémon because he trusts his brother and knows even without memory how his brother trained his Pokémon. Emmet in the jailbirds au can use at least six Pokémon at once.
This brings me to two questions.
Is Emmet limited to only six? And
…has anyone counted how many Pokémon Ingo has on hand for his path of solitude challenges in the game?
hehehehe first of all yesss recognition
and second of all this is maybe a more serious answer than you were actually wanting, but
ok a little off topic bc i've been itching to share this hc but: i think ingo's path of solitude mons are actually ones he's borrowing from the survey/security corps. it just makes sense! so they're not as well trained, but it's whatever, bc path of solitude generally relies on having you counter a single, specific strategy, so that's all he needs to teach them beforehand.
and then re: the Actual question, and again getting More Serious than you were maybe thinking, but i think doing that six-at-once thing requires a SEVERE shift in tactics. like, the more pokemon you add to the thing at once, the farther back you have to pull your focus, overseeing the entire battlefield rather than focusing in on one or two at a time. were emmet to be facing six opponents that all had their own trainers dedicated to directing them, he'd probably struggle a lot more because he just physically cannot give six different orders at once—but it works out in this scenario bc his opponents are wild pokemon that are completely desynced. he can afford to go big-picture.
BUT like you were saying a big part of it is also training! the other reason he doesn't have to give such specific orders is bc ingo's pokemon already know how to execute a variety of strategies. "focus on doing status moves to everything on the field," "pull in together with a partner so it can shield you from that supereffective attack," "keep up a cover for your team" are all things that the pokemon wouldn't necessarily know how to do—but ingo's trained them to do without much more than a hand signal and one or two words. and then once they have that order, they can react under their own power to changes in the field, without emmet needing to notice and counter every little thing.
and PART of that is that, obviously, those strats come in handy for warden duties, when you ARE in fact facing a horde of wild pokemon and you also have to kind of focus on not being attacked yourself. but that's not the only reason, obviously. he's also just so used to having to train for singles, doubles, and multis, and making sure they can execute all of those altered strategies perfectly. so it comes way easier than it might otherwise, if he was doing all this for the first time, bc of that.
...this is getting really rambly and off topic now
to answer the Actual question, tbqh, i think emmet could go to like, arbitrarily large numbers of pokemon—it's just he'd have to shift more and more into that big-picture mindset, at the cost of being able to focus in on details.
(THAT'S ALSO NOT A THING MOST TRAINERS CAN DO just to be like. i think emmet is Uniquely Good at that focus shift and it's part of why he loves doubles so much and why he's THRILLED about the six-way battle. because you are Right he is Pure Kickass at being a trainer and this situation is his element)

Why I want Robert in Smash:
More F-Zero rep!!! Adding onto that, because he doesn’t have any weapons of his own he’d make a great echo of Falcon (in comparison Goroh is a samurai and Pico has lots and lots of weapons so they would make more sense with their own movesets)
I know there’s a lot of people in the Smash fandom who think Falcon wouldn’t like men in a romantic way (I’m not one of them) but I think having two similar age guys from the same series in Smash would increase the shipping (idk if this says anything but recently I've been rereading about half the fanfics tagged with Captain Falcon/Dr. Stewart (that's my favourite ship btw))
Falcon is currently my favourite Smash fighter and Robert is my favourite F-Zero racer which would mean I’d have a new favourite
If someone like Peach is allowed to join a fighting universe I think they have space for another doctor (this one’s more in-universe for obvious reasons also Robert is so much more badass than Peach sorry)
The comparisons between him and Falcon vs Fox and Falco (ironically in that order)
Seriously I just really want more DouglasxRobert shipping content lol
Also for Walking Wake and Iron Leaves:
Having a duo of mysterious Paradox Pokémon in the crossover game would be amazing but you have to do both and as separate fighters
Even though Meowscarada, Ceruledge and Iron Valiant would make more sense and I prefer them (and in general the next Pokémon fighter is almost certainly either Meowscarada or Eevee), the Imaginary Paradox Duo are the Pokémon I most want as the next fighters
Miyu and Fay:
Enough people consider SF2 to be canon now
I love the ship
Theres probably more you can do with them than the other SF options other than Krystal
The Hunters from Metroid Prime Hunters:
I just really love them I think they’re cool (if it’s too much hassle adding six new fighters just for Metroid I’m fine if they double up with their Affinity Weapons’ opposites ie Kanden and Weavel, Spire and Noxus, Sylux and Trace)
And one for all of them (except WW):
Gimme that future rep!

"...Delia?"
Professor Oak didn't wait for her to answer before entering the room, closing the door softly behind him. "It's time."
Delia swallowed, rubbing her sweaty palms against her white trousers and hoping, too late, that they wouldn't leave a stain. She knew it was time. It was time ten minutes ago. Just like it was time fifteen years ago, back when she was the one wearing the dress. Except today, she couldn't move, couldn't even stand, much less walk down the aisle.
Oak frowned slightly, bushy eyebrows drawing together. He was greyer and his boutonniere was a different colour, but Delia wouldn't be surprised if he was wearing the same tux.
"What's wrong?"
"...I can't do this."
Her voice cracked and she choked back a sob. She was so stupid, doing this now at the eleventh hour, the twelfth hour, she'd been fine all through the run-up and the planning and the rehearsal dinner, why now, Jessie was waiting -
"It's all right."
Oak slid onto the bench next to her. His hands were warm and rough around her own.
"You don't have to," he murmured.
Delia shook her head.
"But everything -"
"You don't have to," Oak interrupted gently. He fished a couple of tissues from the nearby box (thank goodness James had thought to leave some in both dressing rooms) and pressed them into her hand. "Second, there's no need to worry. James has convinced Jessie to be fashionably late."
Delia couldn't help but chuckle at that. She wiped her eyes and looked up at him. Oak smiled and pulled her into a hug.
"Let's you and I figure this out," he suggested.
Delia took a deep breath and let it out. She held onto him, breathing in the aftershave he only wore on special occasions. He'd been her teacher, her support system, her crush (very briefly), a mentor to her son, and most of all her friend. A friend who knew what it was like to marry young, divorce young, and raise kids alone.
"I'm scared," she mumbled. "I love Jessie - Sam, I love her so much - but I loved Jack. I loved Jack and Ash and I weren't enough for him and -"
Oak cut her off before she could spiral any further. "Okay, let's be scientific about this." He pulled back slightly to look at her. "You and Jack were eighteen, and you were..."
"Pregnant," Delia finished.
"And you'd known each other..."
"Six months," Delia answered, understanding what he was getting at. "And now I'm thirty -" she coughed - "and very much not, and we've been a couple for years." She sighed. "I know all that, Sam. It's not helping."
Oak shrugged.
"Fine, forget science," he agreed. "Tell me why you want to get married."
"Jessie really wants to," Delia murmured, gazing down at her engagement ring. "She's dreamed of a big wedding ever since she was a little girl. And I want her to be happy, so..."
"Ah, ah," Oak chided with a smile. "That's a Mom answer. Tell me why Delia Ketchum wants to get married."
Delia paused, the clock ticking softly as she thought back over her relationship with Jessie.
"It doesn't feel right saying 'girlfriend' anymore," she replied.
"You could call her your partner," Oak suggested.
Delia shook her head. "James was her partner. It sounds... Team Rocket-y." Though he did have a point, she had to admit. "...I want us to be a real family."
He cocked an eyebrow. "You aren't a family now?"
Also a point. She and Jessie and Ash were a family. And yet...
"I love how she and Ash spend time together," Delia murmured. "I know they had a rocky start, but..." She looked up at him. "...I swear, Jessie misses him more than I do. She pretends she doesn't, but as soon as she knows he's coming home, everything has to be perfect. And she's the first person he talks to about his adventures. Until she pushes him to go talk to me." Her fear and anxiety continued to wane the more she thought about it. Ash and Jessie talking snake Pokémon (shudder), arguing over who would take the fall over her ruined garden, shamefacedly confessing their daddy-daughter-drag-double battle adventure. Jessie moved to tears by Ash's Father's Day gift. The pair of them exchanging a brief look before Ash explained away his bandaged leg as a bike accident. "I want us to be together forever. And..." She swallowed. "...if anything happens to me... I want them to have each other."
Oak squeezed her shoulder.
"Then I think you should get married," he replied with a smile. "But it doesn't have to be now, or like this."
Delia looked away, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear.
"Well yeah, but... everyone's here... and there's a great buffet that'll go to waste... and you and I are both wearing tuxedos..."
Oak chuckled.
"For what it's worth," he remarked, "I was against your first marriage. I'm not against this one."
He rose and offered her his hand.
"Walk me down the aisle?" Delia asked. "Again?"
He smiled.
"It would be my pleasure."
last ask made me think about a jessie/delia wedding and delia lowkey freaking out/almost getting cold feet
old fears about marriage coming up uh ohhhh
