I'll tell people that I'm not on Facebook/most social media anymore. They always say, "Oh, good for you! I'm always scrolling and wasting time. I think it's bad for my mental health."
And I always try to reinforce that, yeah. It probably IS bad for your mental health. Maybe not for everyone, but for the vast majority of ppl I talk to who still use a lot of social media constantly, it seems like it really depresses them, demotivates them, and sends them into spirals of self hatred.
If you find yourself constantly doom scrolling & know that it's impacting your mental health, I highly recommend throwing the whole website out. Tell ppl how to contact you, and leave. And if you can't stay away from it, you may be looking at an addiction that needs to be dealt with, lest it turn into a toxic spiral of misery.
#there are downsides ofc#i can't network my art as well without these sites#there are some people who just never reached out to me after i gave them alternative contacts#but tbh i like living a life where the friends i have make an effort to see & talk to me#instead of just mindlessly keeping up with whatever bullshit i post on my wall or whatever#knowing what I'm up to (what I SAY I'm up to anyway) and knowing me are two different things#and that's okay#no ill will to those who could not/would not perceive me offline#but so much gratitude to the friends who still keep up with me#who are willing to make an effort#there's less of them & the ppl who didn't stick with me were sometimes heavy losses#but in the end this is much healthier#i know i exist as a person to these people and not just an avatar#social media

I hate the stretch lines in the front of Curly's uniform because that means the devs rushed to make a model in like a month or so and thought "They gotta at least know he has huge knockers, gotta know he's got back pain." Cause like what is the thematic importance of his tits having overhang?
What responsibility is that representing? Breast reduction? It shows an inherent greed in his character due to the excess and heshouldletmeholdone and that he clearly is blinded cause if he tries to look down his damn ladder all he's seeing is his own cleavage.

No, never. And I never will.
Even if I could somehow guarantee the training data used by the program was sourced ethically, the whole point of writing is that I'm telling my story. I may be taking forever to finish it, but I can at least stand by the fact that this is wholly my work and every element has been carefully crafted with artistic vision and intent - something computers lack. I think that to do otherwise would be a disservice to both myself and the overall work.

finally finished the priory of the orange tree after putting it off for like a year, and putting aside the fact that it's insanely boring, way too long, and the romance is lackluster, it certainly was a choice to, in a book at least in part about finding common ground and coming together, basically go "religion a is correct and good and its believers can continue on their merry lives, but religion b is a 100% incorrect wrong bad lie founded by a wrong bad misogynistic lying liar, and everyone who believes in it should convert and in fact we're going to end the book by heavily implying that the recently-converted queen is going to slowly but surely pressure the entire country to convert because their faith is wrong and bad". like that was certainly a decision that samantha shannon made.

friends i am begging you, if you want to get a dog and have never had one before, DO YOUR RESEARCH ON BREEDS.
i was working with a lady the other day who was telling me she wanted a puppy and had never had one before, so she went and adopted a 7 month old husky/border collie mix from the shelter after being denied at [pet store] for working too many hours. i'm pretty sure she got this dog because it has complete heterochromia and is a very tidy black and white, like a standard border collie.
please. do NOT do this. look into what dog breed will BEST fit your lifestyle. if you work long hours, do NOT get a working dog breed. maybe even don't get a dog. maybe get a less affectionate cat. i do not give a single FUCK if the dog is pretty. do both yourself and the dog a favor and get the dog that fits your life!!! do not get a working dog and stick it in an apartment or house and wonder why it's eating your furniture and destroying your house!!!

I think I'm actually onboard with DA: The Veilguard's change in art direction compared to the other games. I am so deeply over the attempts at hyper realistic see every pore and hair follicle styles that bloat the file size by 200% leaving less room for actually interesting game mechanics and details and in the case of most fantasy games make the armour and magic effects look just that tiny bit stupider because the level of fantasy doesn't mesh with the realism. And also if this art style lowers the chances of my character's lip gloss being visible from space I will damn well take it.
Plus the lighting and the colours? Showing contrast between light and dark while still letting me be able to see what was going on? Fantastic.
Literally my only note is why does the Qunari dragon slayer who clearly goes for the brutal and direct melee approach have supermodel proportions? Like where are her muscles? Even Harding, light of my life, looks a little too Made Up and slight and she's a dwarven scout. I'm lowkey convinced all the women have the same model just set to different heights. Idk. Taash's model is probably pretty final but maybe Harding will be allowed to look a bit more rugged in game compared to the cinematic trailer.

One of the worst and most counter-productive things this site has tried to do is claim that just Sharing A Marginalization With Someone means that the two of you have a wealth of things in common and are Automatically Aligned On Most Issues when that is NOT THE CASE. VERY CATEGORICALLY NOT THE CASE.

I get certain Yuki fans’ criticism because sometimes the media narrative can be more skewed towards Daniel but I really appreciate the mutually respectful relationship they have!
It’s clear they have slowly settled into this comfortable relationship as teammates. They both clearly have their eyes on the ultimate prize but they’re also clearly committed to making the vcarb project a success and I do feel they’re the team with the easiest-going vibes right now

needed to leave money in a coworker's tip cup without her knowing it was from me and the best strategy I could come up with on the spot was to tell another coworker out loud that I was putting money in her tip cup (obviously I did put some in her cup too, that'd be terrible to lie about!) and she gave me a hug that I really did not feel I deserved but actually I think she took that as me being supportive when she was having a difficult day so net positive even though I lowkey was not thinking that much because I was overthinking an unrelated situation

I had a conversation with my mom about commissions--she’s of the opinion that you shouldn’t have to wait super long to get what you paid for. I’m the opposite; I think artists should be able to take as long as they need to finish a commission, and I’m totally cool with waiting for months even for them to get back to me. Surprisingly enough I’m very patient when it comes to commissioning other people lol. Maybe I just think that way bc I’m an artist myself so I totally get the struggle. (And I also take time with my comms too.) My mom is not an artist so she doesn’t really grasp the amount of time and effort it takes, so she expects results immediately. Which like. I get that too? I dunno. What do you all think? Are you the kind of patient person who’s totally chill with an artist taking months to finish your commission? Or do you want it to be done within a reasonable amount of time, like 2-3 weeks?
