shidou ryusei - seong taehoon (how to fight / viral hit)

when he caught you gawking at the new viral hit chapter, taehoon specifically, he immediately joined you (as he should)

he straight up yelled "smash" at that one scene where taehoon's snacking and he's wearing a tight shirt so you can see all of his muscles

he begs you to re read the series with them, and now you two read each update every week together, fully engaged in the story and taehoon's abs

attempts to recreate all of taehoon's kicks (i headcanon that does taekwondo and has a black belt :>), proudly shows them off to you, with a huge grin on his face (please fawn over him too)

also extensively practices so he can show them off by incorporating them into soccer somehow (doesn't matter if it ain't practical he just wants to impress you), and if he ever has to use them on anyone making you uncomfortable

he probably has a folder in his gallery dedicated to every panel he loves (which is basically all) and recreates his absolute favs (with you as his photographer)

makes a lot of jokes about being in love with taehoon (so do you), but he'd stop them if they made you uncomfortable, and reassures you that a drawing can't compare to how sweet, amazing and perfect you are

you even tweeted about how badly you need him

rin notices the bags under your eyes, and the lack of sleep you had been getting, he's worried and when he asks you you're too focused on the event story to even register what he says, as you're on the brink of sobbing at young akito and ena

he observes as well, and immediately is jealous of how much of your attention this fictional character was receiving from you

as you're about to spend another few hours grinding, he stops you

soon you're rambling on how much akito's backstory and struggles already hurt, and how wholesome yet painful the event story was, with akito quitting soccer and ena encouraging him to give music a try, and it only nurtures rin's envy

"yes i am?? and he looked cute as a child and now he's a pretty boy with the best vocals. their event cards are beautiful too i need them. didn't you start soccer because of sae anyways?"

Thanks for being my first ask! I would love to answer your question.

Deciding on my favorite all time characters was so much harder than I thought it would be. I think it’s because the character exists so thoroughly in their own world to me that it’s hard to stack them against each other. But I’ll do my best!

I’m going to split my answer between your two asks because I don’t want the response to be too long. Also, forgive me for I cannot spell and punctuation is my natural enemy. 

My Favorite Characters (as of right now)

Jason Todd a.k.a the Red Hood - Batman/ Red Hood Comics

This is pretty simple actually I’ve been obsessed with him since I watched Under the Redhood the animated movie and then went on to consume so much content about him. I think he is if not my most favorite character, then at least my most consistent character (I jump from hyperfixation to hyper fixation alot) So yeah he’s great. He’s very much a shining example of characters I tend to gravitate to in media. 

Kugasaki Nobara - Jujustu Kaisen

Justice for my girl Nobara. I consume quite a bit of media alot of which you could argue was originally geared towards menand so female characters are usually not the best or most fleshed out and so rarely become my favs which is why I hold the ones that do so close to my heart. Nobara is like no other female protag I’ve seen in shonen, she’s allowed to be so much she’s so mean and so forthright and she’s silly she’s a non-hypersexualized comedic relief character and that’s so hard to get with female characters that isnt just them beating up the main character who just lets them. Don’t get me wrong she’s mean to yuuji but in the way we are all mean to our best friends. Her moral philosophy is one of my favorites in the show, shes so complex and so fun and here powers are so interesting. I wish more would be done with her.

Ice Bear - We Bare Bears 

I don’t really have much to say here. Ice Bear’s just a cool dude.

Reigen Arataka - Mob Psycho 100

This is very basic of me but I love Reigen so much. I love mob to but Reigen just slightly edges him out because of his sheer insanity. The way Reigen is animated is so god he can never just do one action he’s so hyper and he’s such a bullshitter I love him. But really I feel like we never really get these kinds of  stories with “sensei” like characters. Cause in the beginning He’s presented to us as Mob’s master but it’s so obvious that he’s a con man but the thing is he still gives really good advice and in his own way he is genuinely really helping people. And he gives the single most best piece of advice to a teenage mc that I’ve ever seen. Like how often to you hear the master character tell their pupil that the right thing to do is runaway. That he shouldn't be responsible for fixing the messes of adults, he’s a child and should be allowed to be a child that all the villains are adults and it’s frankly pathetic that they are trying to fight actual children. Reigen simply is him and he grows so much in the way he treats Mob. It’s hard not to love him. Also he has no friends his own age so I feel bad for him. 

The Archangel Michael - Supernatural

There’s not much to say here. He has like 20 minutes of screen time across 15 seasons, but the ways in which I am unwell about him are limitless. He’s my poor little meow meow I will defend him to my dying day. 

Honorable mentions to those I don’t really think about often,and like more in the context of a dynamic, but when I do I go on an absolutely fanfic fuelled mania. 

Erwin Smith (AOT) - There is no canon evidence for this whatsoever but he strikes me as a man that is just a little too much like his mother (unhinged). This is solely based on a specific fic series but the ways in which I am unwell about this trope has implanted unto him. Also love his dynamic with Levi

Robb Stark (GOT)- Honestly I cried about the red wedding for 5 days straight and yeah I like reading about his dynmaic with Jon. 

Shinsou and Aizawa (MHA) -  cheating, but I like them as a dynamic and i flip flop between who I like better, especially in fics where Shinsou isn’t just a vehicle for trauma.

Mihawk and Shanks (OP) - We don’t really know alot about either, though Shanks has gotten a bit more fleshed out recently. I think if we ever find out more about Mihawk he would ascend to one of my favorite characters but right now all Ireally have are headcanons. Also I love Shanks I love seeing him on screen I find him such a fun but tragic character and i dont really know why but yeah he cares so much he’s like a slightly more weighed down luffy what’s not to love?

And finally the ogs

Zoro (OP) - I was so obsessed with him when I first started reading one piece. Love him and Luffy

Nico di angelo (PJO/HOO)  - I think mostly I’ve outgrown Percy Jackson but what kind of person would I be if I didn’t give love to the ogs.

What's your opinion on proshipping?

uuuuhhh idk really. So i'm gonna ramble for a second!

I'm aware of what proshipping actually means, something like ship and let other people ship, but things like tiktok and twt has kind of skewed my view on what proshippers are — which are weird noncon loving weirdos who like brothers kissing — but ik the rational side of my brain is telling me that what I just said is a fat generalisation. ofc some proshippers are like that, but ik most proshippers aren't and just dont care what other people do in fiction.

i do kiiiinnndddaaa believe that what you like in fiction does reflect your person in some way, since it does with me. for example, I consider myself to be very gentle and a hopeless romantic, and I project that onto the media I consume and create. but I have also written about some very harsh and dark topics in the past, just never in a way that glorifies or sexualises them.

I do believe that fiction does affect reality in certain scenarios... but I also know that some things are purely fantasy and it's fun to let go of morals and be gross and freaky (in a FICTIONAL SPACE!!!). but I don't think you're free from judgement from other people purely because what you do is fictional. If I found out that someone i followed on social media/or knew irl had a thing for noncon then I don't think I'd be able to look at them the same.

I wouldn't consider myself an anti (anymore) bcs they've grown a bit of a harsh name for themselves, but I certainly wouldn't consider myself a proshipper mostly because they have ALSO grown a harsh name for themselves and I've had very rough and weird experiences with them. I feel very strongly for fictional characters and their experiences, even if its a random oc that I see on my dash, and that in turn means that i cant really view fictional characters as little puppets in which we use to tell stories or project onto. idk whether it's because my imagination is vivid or something to do with autism, but it's hard for me to move on with my day after reading something abt my fav character being attracted to a child (even if it is technically canon... salad fingers...)

there have been times where I come across a darkfic, skim through it due to morbid fascination, and just regret it to the point that I feel myself physically restrain the need to type out my strong opinion furiously in the comments. but I know that no one forced me at gunpoint to read it and it was all my doing. I believe heavily in curating your own online experience, but have a hard time following that advice myself lololol.

and I think that's the problem with antis. they don't curate their online spaces enough and end up looking at the things that make them feel mad and weird. that was definitely my issue not too long ago and it just made my mental health terrible and life all dull and sad. but now that I've kinda realised that searching for the content that makes you upset and doomscrolling through it to the point it makes you seethe, and then venting about it isn't doing anyone good, I've instead channelled all that energy into finding people who share the same views as me and like what i like !!!! trust me, that is SOOO much more better.

but at the end of the day, I dont think I'll ever feel neutral about proshippers. If i see any terms like "proshipper" or "comshipper" or "anti-anti" I would feel that little ick in me, a hint of disgust... but I'll do my best to move on with my day !! people have the right to feel disgusted, grossed out, even sad about what proshippers do, they have the right to think of them as weird and strange because of proshippers liking what they like, and proshippers should expect that not everyone will feel how they feel. Especially since people who aren't in fandom spaces are sure to side eye you if they find out you post about twincest or dad x daughter relatiobships. but they do not have the right to go out of their way to bully and harass proshippers who are in their own little bubble with their own little audience, posting what they like. ofc you can vent about the things you don't like to people and on your socials, as long as you're not actively searching for it.

I have no idea if this sounds hypocritical or weird, I've read over it a few dozen times and I think I sound decently coherent. idk maybe someone wants to fill me in on some things, but I stand by my opinion.

As a teenager... well, that was quite a while ago lol. I suppose that would have been Harry/Draco. First fandom, first queer pairing, first smut stories. I was such a sweet sweet summer child XD The early 00s were wild

Which ship would you consider your first one?

Soooo. Funny story. Way back when, I got into fanfiction via fanfiction.net. You know how their filter system is bad/non-existent? Yeah. Little me, on her first outing to ffnet, didn’t know how to operate the character settings. I clicked on the first story on the top of the first page of the HP section. It was a Snape/Hermione star-crossed lover deal. It flash-fried my brain, taught me content curation in a crash course and incidentially made me partial to the ship for quite a few years...

Your first fanfic was about which couple?

See above lol. I will never ever forget the experience. I tried to find that story later for downloading (like an ugly beloved keepsake ig lol) but never managed.

No, not really. It's only ever preferences. There are some I dislike due to my own hc/inability to suspend my disbelief but I wouldn’t call them NOTPs. I just don’t read them.

I actually dislike the term OTP. It's a scale of preferences for me. There are few (read: none) fav characters that I can only see with one love interest (and anyway, sometimes i do prefer plot over love story. wild take i know) and the more time I spend in a fandom the more I diversify.

I don’t get this question, sorry. If I'm interested, I'll search it out. Even if the fandom is old. AO3 is an archive for exactly that reason.

I don’t hate ships? As I said above. Possibly the reduction on 'I can fix him/her' or 'my love will save him/her from depression/"the darkness"/etc.' but that is mostly a matter of the author's style of crafting characterization and plot and has nothing to do with the ship itself.

How many books did you read this year? 24 ! reading the 25th rn. (booktube has poisoned me into thinking this isn't a lot, but i had a lot more fun reading when i didn't pressure myself into reading more like i did last year lol)

3. What were your top five books of the year?

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir (reread - it was my fav last year as well lol. This is my FAVORITE BOOK EVER.)

The Mountain in the Sea by Ray Nayler (THIS IS VERY CLOSE BEHIND PHM. THIS IS THE REASON I CANT STOP THINKING ABOUT OCTOPUSES)

Our Hideous Progeny by C. E. McGill (this book means so much to me, please read it. ESPECIALLY if you like frankenstein. AND dinosaurs.)

Dracula's Child by J. S. Barnes (a sequel to Dracula that I did not expect to like as much as I did. He's currently writing a sequel to Frankenstein too and I'm like pissing myself)

Romantic Outlaws: The Extraordinary Lives of Mary Wollstonecraft and Mary Shelley by Charlotte Gordon (talked about this in the previous ask. It's a biography, about what it says on the tin. It's so good)

13. What were your least favorite books of the year?

I thought I didn't have many books I super didn't like but then I went on a rant about one of them so I guess I do

The Space Between Us by Doug Johnstone seemed on first glance to have all the ingredients to be a favorite of mine, but it completely failed to make me care about the characters, and the sci-fi aspect of it was pretty underwhelming. Also, the run-on sentences were horrible. Ig it was a style thing, but I hate that so much lol.

The Soul of an Octopus by Sy Montgomery was on of the four octopus-related books I read this year after falling under The Mountain in the Sea's spell (The Space Between Us is also one of them, though the octopus in that one isn't really an octopus). It is a non-fiction book about Sy Montgomery learning about octopuses. The beginning was promising, where she first goes to the aquarium to meet an octopus called Athena, and she gets to hold Athena's arms and stuff - but then this just keeps happening. Athena dies and is replaced by another octopus, who Sy holds hands with for a bit, and then that octopus gets sick and is replaced by another octopus, and they hold hands a bit more. Then, maybe I didn't like it as much because it had a lot to do with other animals and learning how to scuba dive, which probably is interesting for other people, but my one-tracked mind was only there for the octopuses, so I just found it tedious. And then even when it was about octopuses, it always felt more like Sy was writing like "wow this is so amazing for ME," like about how it made her feel, and not so much about the actual octopuses ?? And there was something really uncomfortable about reading about them keeping an octopus in a bucket for several months because they were waiting for the other octopus to die, WHILE talking about how incredibly intelligent octopuses are like...isn't this just animal abuse at this point? They BRIEFLY mention the ethics of aquariums and capturing wild octopuses for no reason except to put them in an exhibit, not to rehabilitate them or anything, but it feels like the problematic aspects of this just kinda gets brushed away..... Anyway, didn't do it for me, and by the third time she writes "octopus time" (describing how time seems to flow differently while she's over the aquarium holding the octopus' arms) I was just kinda annoyed lol. Anyway, rant over

Autonomous by Annalee Newitz. This book isn't actually on the bottom of my list because I ranked it both by how much I enjoyed it, just pure entertainment value, and how much I admired the work that went into it. The Soul of an Octopus and The Space Between Us are at the very bottom, but there's still four books between them and Autonomous (The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee, The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness, The Unexpected Return of Josephine Fox by Claire Gradidge, and Half a Soul by Olivia Atwater). The reason I'm talking about Autonomous and not any the ones I ranked lower is because I did find the book compelling and entertaining like 80% of the time -- meanwhile, those other books were just fine. They were okay, the didn't really make an impression. I didn't dislike them, there were just other books I enjoyed more. THE THING IS. Autonomous did something so fucking weird at the end that it kind of ruined the whole book for me?? Like, please message me if you've read this in case something has just gone over my head, because like I swear to god there's a character who is gay but refuses to acknowledge it and instead says some really homophobic shit, who never comes to terms with his sexuality and instead puts the label Woman on the genderless character he has a crush on (who knows this isn't correct, but this character is kinda like, "well if it makes him like me then I guess I don't mind," which could have been interesting to explore if it weren't at the end of the book and it never goes anywhere??) and that's just how it ends? Huh????

I.. hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is like.. an askblog for the fictional introjects which formed in DID/OSDD systems.. I may be Rei Furuya, but I'm not the same as I am in my source material. This isn't an ask your favs blog, but more of a, "learn more about us and talk to us!" Kind of thing.

To answer some questions though:

- I did hate Akai Shuuichi a lot, but mostly because I couldn't come to terms with the fact that losing my boyfriend was my fault, not Akai's. I blamed us both, but I let him take most of it because I was too scared to take it myself. I'm dating the Nightwatchers System's Akai though, and I love him dearly. Though, I will say, I miss Japan a lot and that's why I'm moving back there, and trying to convince them to move with me.

- I think it was Bourbon or Toru (two splits I had) who adopted Kaito first from the NW System, but I see him as a son, and honestly, I don't think if I could go back, I would ever arrest him. (Though he'd probably break out if I tried LMAO)

- From what I can remember, I was the bastard child of Hyoue Kuroda's and a foreign woman he arrested. But I claim Elena as my mom now, even if we aren't blood related. I know she's not my mom, but she treats me like a son and lets me call her mom. I treat Shiho as a sister too. I could be the farthest thing from a child/brother for them, but they still accept me and comfort me when I need it. I do the same for them.

- I think Hiro can back me up when I say that if he didn't get me out of my room/dorm/apartment, I probably would have studied myself into the grave. I wanted to prove I was enough, even if it killed me. I neglected my health for the sake of being enough, proving I was worthy of respect. It wasn't worth it.

- Well, I have an agreement with the main host of our system, and we're going to be moving to Japan. Hopefully we'll be living there permanently, but we can't exactly say what the future holds.

I dont think these fanon takes are a minor thing, I think its more of a cql thing, if people have watched the drama first/only, their perspective is heavily influenced by it, its no fault of the actors but the script heavily does change stuff, WWX is made to cry 82 times in cql? In novel its 2 at most, JZXs death and when he returns from the dead, his resilience trait is..gone. Jiang Wanyin is shown as soft instead of brash/impulsive that he is, JYL has a fixation on family stuff 1/2

Which is more subtle in the novel, to remove WWX remembering LWJ in burial mounds they add lotus pond scenes, this instead shows that WWX missed 'home' or 'regretted' his actions, in novel he never once did, he wasn't bitter/guilty because he knew he was in the right, and Wens were grateful to him, the public hanging of Wens??? I mean, the whole arc was what rumor mongering does, no one knew they were innocent people because this was hidden from them, people like LXC and NMJwouldNOTstandforit2/?

What is up with Mian Mian being from a bigger sect when she worked hard in a smaller sect to gain a high position and then discarded it for righteousness? ? What about JZX? His arc has him an only child thus influence on his pompous behaviour, and he steps up to save Mian Mian 'daughter of a servant' not his close friend, it highlights him not care about status when looking at people, and sure JWN throw the person down the cliff your sister died saving, what a way to honor her sacrifice 4/?

How they changed JWN into a 'soft' person (with emotional scenes on screen)when he is brash/impulsive fixation on yunmeng trio, JYL with family, WWX never regretted his decision, ever, hes in the right thats why, he doesn't throw the seal into the crowd, he dies from the backlash of destroying the seal because of the very reason he knows they'll use it to harm others which he didnt want. It seems more like scrip writers didnt address mxtxs work as an adaptation they were adapting 5/?

Anon, I'm assuming you said what you wanted to say? Idk, but let me reply to these?

Bear in mind, I watched the series once and actually fast forwarded a few scenes.

I agree that CQL has colored people's opinion on the characters. But I still don't get the takes. Even if CQL softened JC significantly, his actions are still Very bad.

Even in CQL, he-

1. Owes a debt to the Wens and refuses to disclose it.

2. Knows people in the BM are harmless and there's a child there.

3. Doesn't support WWX at critical times, showing division instead of solidarity.

4. Lets the woman he was intent on courting burn before his very eyes.

5. Participates in a seige against his martial brother.

6. Helps that martial brother commit su*cide.

7. Threatens a resurrected wwx multiple times.

8. Tries to fight wwx when he was legit bleeding and swaying in front of him.

9. Goes 'what of my mother, father, sister,' during the whole GC conversation at the temple.

10. Treats his nephew like shit.

11. Benefits immensely from WWX's death.

This is just from the top of my head. Just CQL material.

So, all of these things aren't subtle. They're not nuanced actions of discreet character that you need to dig into. All of these incidences are significant events, clearly described and showcased in CQL.

Blaming CQL is well and good, it has a lot of flaws. I agree with everything you mentioned. But, my thing is, CQL JC is almost worst. CQL WWX is actually more innocent. CQL goes solidly white vs. black morality. LWJ and WWX on the right side, everyone else (juniors and wn not included) on the wrong side. It can't be clearer even in that, somewhat clumsy, adaptation.

What I think is happening is people are overly identifying with a foil character. Instead of thinking, "Well, this is how this character works, these are his actions" they go, "this is how the author, unjustly, crafted my fav character. His actions are the author's fault and really, he is better deep down inside of him. You just don't understand him like I do. Really, the author was unfair to him."

All the while, they forget this is a fictional character crafted from the author's imagination and not a real, dynamic person.

The case with MianMian is ridiculous. Her character is compelling in many ways and CQL definitely messed it up. JZX would've benefited from that nuance. I won't comment on how much I hate the low self-esteem so prevalent in WWX's CQL characterization because it makes me scream.

But even then, WWX is shown as competent, confident, and so done with everyone's bs. He clearly reached a point where he only cares about LWJ. It is pretty obvious that in his opinion, everyone else (aside from juniors and wn) sucks.

CQL may be iffy, it isn't fully to blame. Fanon takes are... well, just some people deciding they wanna ignore the source material and believe their fav character is different. Which, sure. I don't mind.

Still doesn't change the fact that they chose to interpret characters in a certain way despite all evidence to the contrary.

Anybody who thinks that what's being spoken about is 'dramatic' or 'about making somebody look bad' is really not understanding.

This is not a GAME.

I know you, Comet, and I know what you've had to endure and what you've been through. The people who are engaging you DO not, and they don't understand that it is not, and was NEVER about making the character performing the questionable action look 'bad'.

They resonate with the character, that's fine, and they're passionate about it, but they're projecting anger that is real for THEM toward a real person that they don't know. The reason they're probably resonating with Adrien so much is that they can't see that they themselves are weaponising their own feelings to justify going into a real person's space and telling THEM, someone THEY haven't met and don't KNOW, some really hurtful things (that simply aren't even true). It's not about dismissing abuse, it's the opposite. It's about helping an AUDIENCE understand that normalising or justifying PATTERNS of abuse because that person is ALSO a victim does not change the fact that it is STILL happening. Like, you already know what my area is and the things I sadly have to familiarise myself to working around because of it. I'm saying it now: you are not wrong and shouldn't be shamed or silenced for calling out ANYTHING that NEEDS to be made clear is a PRECURSER to the worst case scenario. I know most other people still can't personally resonate with the idea of ever having to perform an autopsy on a child or a toddler or having to prepare forensic evidence for court. This is my area though, and the reality that there is a big difference between disturbing somebody's fantasy of a fictional character, and actually stating exactly what is happening on that screen because it isn't CLEAR enough that the SUBTLE patterns aren't normal and should not be misinterpreted or emulated REGARDLESS of where they're coming from. This is the consequence of normalising patterns. Especially the small ones. Children have died preventable deaths because nobody thought the abuse was 'clear' enough OR the person displaying the patterns was 'too misunderstood' for it to be recognised and stopped (which, by the way, has a toll on THEIR quality of life as well). SOMETIMES this coming from the victims themselves. That's HOW it works. The person WITH the behaviour PLAYS the 'good guy' to EVERYBODY ELSE. That's HOW they keep their 'supply' in check. But this is what I'm dedicating my own career to, you know this, and I'm TELLING you, as somebody who has the displeasure of adjusting to the reality of seeing the WORST consequences of these 'behaviours' being unrecognisable: it NEEDS to be yelled from the rooftops so that OTHER people don't second-guess the red flags before it is absolutely too late. Keep saying what you have to say. I don't care that it's in a small part of the internet. It needs to be drilled into people's heads that it isn't normal, and it's OKAY to say that your fav is doing something ugly. There are lives that are more important than other people's need to shut down anything they can't personally resonate with or conceptualise.

You aren't, and were NEVER here to hurt people. Being able to tell people that unclear or subtle forms of abuse are NOT normal either = 'well, it was okay when the person on TV did it because _ reason, so maybe I'm just attacking them and I'm not actually suffering' = ALWAYS more harmful. Reality is dark. People are NOT just either 'all-displaying' evil or 'good' & there are real life consequences for not seeing the forest from the trees.

I've touched on this a couple of times but my mum is a huge liar, she constantly would lie to my family members about me and my sisters to make herself look better while making us look like scum, so when my sisters and I spoke up about her neglect, alcohol/gambling problems and abuse we were dismissed. For me personally I got people questioning how I can know everything that's happening to my sisters and I when I "sit in my room on the computer all day". Enablers believed in my mother so much that the concept of being able to hear through the walls when I'm hiding in my room to get away from her (itself an obvious red flag) or that my siblings talk to me about things my mum has said or done and that I believe them because she's done the same to me. It also took me a really long time to move out of home because of how manipulative she was, she would be good sometimes and horrific others making me think she was going to get better for real this time when she was good. She also put me down all the time making me feel like I couldn't handle living independently of her. I'm still working through that even after having moved out for over a year now.

The point is that I do actually relate to Adrien a lot, especially this season. But when I was younger and I sought validation online and threw tantrums when I didn't get it, I wish I'd had more media show that that behaviour is not okay. That emphasis was put on explaining your feelings in a healthy way instead of lashing out and expecting people to want to understand your side of the story. Because actually if you're being a shithead to someone they don't owe you the benefit of the doubt. Miraculous does a great job of showing this in Oni Chan - Adrien giving Lila a chance despite knowing that she's a liar is portrayed as the wrong call. It's true that Lila is lonely, but enabling her only let her hurt the people close to him, so he sets clearer boundaries with her at the end of the episode. Adrien is someone who really values friendship and wanted to give Lila a chance and that's noble, but she isn't owed that.

I just wish that Ladybug was allowed to learn the same lesson when it came to Chat Noir. Instead time and time again she is made to place her own feelings aside in order to coddle Chat Noir. It's more insidious than it is with Lila because Lila is clearly bad. But with Chat Noir, it's Adrien, the nice guy who's hard home life we see a lot more of than Lila's. Lila is hinted at being lonely at home in order to explain some of her behaviour and give a moral about it not excusing her lies. But time and time again Adrien's home life is to give him a reason to angst and to lash out at Ladybug who is expected to shoulder his issues while setting aside her own. Whenever she does get fed up with him and yell back she is portrayed as the bad guy. Similar to how when I was young I would lash out, and when people called me out on it I would take that to mean they were looking for an excuse to hate me. Because I couldn't fathom that I was just being obnoxious because I'm the one who was miserable.

Adrien is the hero. His actions are supposed to be admirable and emulated by the young audience. But whenever Marinette makes a mistake she learns a lesson and it becomes clear to the audience what that lesson is. Adrien rarely learns and the narrative focuses on his hurt feelings rather than his problematic behaviour. He's not the first character to be written this way and he won't be the last. But like I said I wish we could do better.

It changes over time but I'm gonna pick 2 for this one, being Harriet The Spy by Louise Fitzhugh and Aster and The Mixed-Up Magic by Thom Pico & Karensac! Both completely different plots but revolve around strong child protagonists and have an indescribably cozy vibe to them. Personally I don't think the Harriet novel is for everyone, but I ABSOLUTELY reccomend people check out the Aster graphic novels!

☠ Something that angers you

I wouldn't know where to begin honestly 'cause I'm hardly ever angry at things (or at least I try not to be). But what def comes to mind is people deliberately referring to me by my deadname or using the wrong pronouns for me, even worse when they already know I'm transfemme yet REFUSE to correct themselves once I point out how uncomfortable I am being misidentified. Same feeling goes for when I see this experience happen to my friends or strangers who are also trans/nonbinary. It's just a hurtful thing to go through and some people just don't care to realize how immense it is to be misidentified,,

🎥 Fave film

Like the book answer, I wanna pick 2 of my favorite films of all time. Those would be Hugo (2011) and Kiki's Delivery Service (1989), both films are very heart-warming coming-of-age stories that've never failed to make me euphoric and cozy out of all the countless times I've rewatched them and I totally reccomend them to people who haven't seen them yet :D

I find it odd that people are just willing to attack people over a preference of character. Like, Tim fans that say anything about Damian, positive or otherwise, get rants about how they don’t understand his character, and how Tim is the worst, etc etc etc. People who literally just transcribe what he did in the comics are not immune either. How can any fan be so deluded to callously attack people for not loving a character unconditionally?

I got this ask like, yesterday and completely forgot to answer it cause when I saw it I went to go watch Jurassic Park and just absolutely forgot to respond when I came back. But I’m really sorry about that. I don’t know if that’s a rude thing to do, but I feel rude for it. I feel bad.

But like, when it comes to stuff like this, I’ve had absolutely awful experiences. But I got rambly, because I am so tired right now. So I put it below that thingie, cause it went on a while.

Trigger warnings for like, talks of pedophiles and such. Which makes my stomach curl having to type that, but here we are.

I’ve noted stuff Damian did in series they like, because they always act like they’re some gold standards when Damian’s still doing horrible stuff in them, and they’ll act like I’m hating on Damian. When acknowledging that he did stuff that makes the whole anti-hero thing make more sense, is not hating on him. I just accept him for who he is, without having to freaking woobify or change him so I don’t have a bad conscious about enjoying him.

I literally just look at it like that with the viewpoint of “In context, and looking at what he still does, this is not out of character. They just aren’t ignoring it, or not treating it like how they probably shouldn’t”. That is it.

And yet for that, I got called jaded, racist, a child-hater. Literally had someone give a verbal request for people to to “repress me” which is essentially asking for me to be group bullied. An account was made just to harass me (maybe two actually). And for a part of the post where I acknowledged that looking at a panel where Damian was naked made me viscerally uncomfortable. I got called at first, childish, and then someone made a joke about me being a pedophile.

When the reason why I was uncomfortable, was because I have fucking PTSD over a pedophile attempting to groom me, and they had naked pictures of Damian. Like fucking excuse me for having trauma and a bad life experience.

Like they went to that level, just because I acknowledged more about their favorite than they would. They are that deeply ashamed of him.

But all it proves to me, is that chunks of his fandom encourage being an absolute terrible person. They defended each other. They seeked and got reassurance from each other. A dude named DamiFucker jumped in, and I didn’t see them shut down the actual fucking pedophile. They didn’t give a shit. Because it isn’t about reality. It was just about trying to make me look bad.

Which by the way. Having every bad thing said about me, be not true, is oddly kind of a confidence maker, because they couldn’t find a valid thing to complain about me for. They had to exaggerate or just lie about it like they do everything because they can’t just calm down.

All for acknowledging something Damian legitimately did, in a recent comic, that they act like he’s just some innocent kid in.

Someone told one of them to kill themselves, and they acted like I DID IT. They done fucking thought they were getting close to revealing personal information about me, by revealing I’m some Scottish high school teenage girl or some shit. And I am genuinely sorry that it ever happened to them, but I am not at the control of other people, and had already told people not to do that before a lot of them even brought it to my attention.

When also, about the Scottish thing, I don’t even use the proper spelling of someone from the U.K. They just wanted to get me that deeply so bad they didn’t realize.

Of course after that they blamed it for me anyway, even though I am not responsible for other people’s actions. I didn’t even tell anyone to do it.

Instead of taking responsibility for their own heinous actions, they instead try to just make me seem as bad as possible. Like I am not a fictional character which makes it ridiculous, because I can defend myself, and I have far more legitimate respect from others as well for being a genuinely good human, and intelligent at that.

And this isn’t even the first time I’ve gotten shit for stuff like this.

There was a person who harassed me for months till I finally blocked him, just because, I said that Damian was actually really tall originally, and they just changed it just to do some cheap jokes. And I thought that was ridiculous just to make a character out of character just for something like that.

Some of them take little things like that so seriously, because they have this specific view of him, that if disrupted. They can lose it.

I’ve gotten told to kill myself many many times over shit like this.

I literally say what happened in a comic, or my basic opinion. My most negative stuff is about how terribly his stories are written a lot of the time. Something I do with my own favorite.

And they give it attempts to run my fucking life, for real, over it.

Like the Tim fandom are not saints. No fandom is, but they are not freaking worse than any other fandom. The idea that the Tim fandom is the worse is ridiculous and is just said because they’re so far up their own ass in ignorance that they won’t acknowledge their own actions.

They have to make stuff up in attempts to make them look bad. If you have to make stuff up, or exaggerate stuff, or highlight stuff that the other fandoms literally do all the time. You should just fucking acknowledge that it is not the worse.

Even just for Tim himself they always have to make stuff up, or exaggerate stuff to make him look worse than what he is.

If you have to do that for anything, a real person or not, you don’t truly hate it nearly as much as you think. You’re just a bitter angry person, looking for something to hate.

This stuff was months ago for me. It is not something I’ve thought about every day since like, the few weeks after it happened.

But I’m just acknowledging this because they can be so utterly reprehensible and yet they still have the victim complex. And this ask reminded me of it.

Obviously, it isn’t like the whole fandom. Like do I think literally everyone who likes Damian is a shithead? Obviously not, ya know. It’s just that unfortunately that fandom has some real toxic attitudes. There are good people there, that are probably just as confused by it themselves. They can excuse actual pedophilia as long as they’re attacking the same actual living human, but they draw the line at openly acknowledging something their favorite character actually did in a comic that they themselves like.

They even admitted they didn’t read the fucking thing.

Basically, just get out of town acting like the Tim Drake fandom is the worst fandom. I’m in the tag everyday, and the worst I see is some people being too obsessive, and JayTim. And I think JayTim is like, disgusting, but if someone’s here reading it like “Oh, but I ship it”. I’ll also say that I don’t care if you ship it, because fandoms are freaking weird and I accept that. As long as you’re not a gross person in real life, I ultimately don’t care anymore. I don’t get it, but what ever. As long as it’s not pedophilia, in which case, I’m genuinely going to judge you. But even then JayTim is more of a Jason fan thing as far as who their main fav is.

Basically, if transcribing character actions gets a downright horrid response that involves attacks and worse, then the people attacking should probably get a new favorite character, because they obviously can’t freaking stand them.

I didn’t even say it in a negative context either. Just: “This new story makes more sense than you think, because if you look here, and--”.

tell me the first song that made you stan your current fave group and why did your faves attract you so much?

side effects! (oops this is a txt blog) but i’m pretty sure this is what made me want to stan skz! the song is very experimental, as it’s psychedelic edm (i believe), but i liked it a lot after a few listens. i was totally obsessed with the choreography as well, because the whole thing is just...art. they attracted me because their style of music was different than what i had seen before, and on top of being extremely talented and creative people, they were also super funny and caring.

another group that comes really close to being my favs is day6 (and i cannot even begin to describe my infatuation with this group). i listened to “shoot me” and “sweet chaos” and BAM that’s all it took to drag me into stanning this group. i’m not familiar with the inside jokes and all that, but i just love listening to their music! there is not a single bad song in their entire discography! i also have the largest heart eyes for young k’s “young one” project covers and eaJ’s original songs.
