Being told, in a bar during the latest hour of night and having a drink together once again, by Jinpei—who's one of his best friend and who he had known since the start of the police academy, which he had created memories of adventure and troubles they lived all through together, till one by one of their group started to pass away from tragedy filled deaths by the reaper itself—to take care of his (soon to be) spouse, if the case of Jinpei's death ever occurred, was a weird conversation for Rei to ever had.

Especially when kept in mind—Jinpei knowing this sort of secret as well—that Rei had (or still has) a unrequited love towards said spouse—you—and than being asked to take care of them, was repeatedly to say weird.

So when Rei had gotten the SMS from your older Sister, days later, that Matsuda Jinpei had died in a bomb explosion—like your brother Kenji before—and you're not responding to her and she fearing you're being a grieving destructive self-harming wreck (once again), Rei literally had abandoned every sort of work—and thank goodness, it wasn't during any important undercover mission in the Organisation—he had and drove as fast as he could towards you.

Stepping inside your house—once Jinpei's home too—having a spare key, the first thing he notice—besides the shattered picture frames on the floor and the mess like disaster—was the loud repeated song, mixed with your gut wrenching sobbing, of Big in Japan.

Big in Japan was the song which caused Jinpei and you to fall in love with each other, so hearing it—after so long—caused pain in Rei too, because even though he too loves you, so had it been Rei who had pushed Jinpei in your direction—during a nights out in a club, to celebrate something—to finally have a dance with you and starting the flame of love between Jinpei and you.

And when Rei sat down next to you—having you found curled up in the bedroom on the hard wooden floor, shivering and soaked wet from a sweaty fever—pulling you into his arms, hugging you close and telling you soft hushed whisper—trying to ease your sobbing and giving comfort and support—that everything would be okay once again and that Jinpei, his friend and your boyfriend, didn't suffer from any pain and is being reunited with Kenji and the others in heaven and looking out for us—Rei too, after clutching onto him so tightly helplessly of decaying hope and any will to continue to live, started to cry and weeping in grieving with you together through another night.

All because, that damned song reminded him too much of Jinpei.

Whenever Rei recalls the conversation he once had with Jinpei—during the first months and a year after the funeral—Rei had thought at first that Jinpei had meant it such context, to not leave you alone and being there for you—giving you support and comfort when needed—but now? Two years later, Rei believes his friend had meant in a whole different way.

And Rei realised, after noticing the way you smiled at him—a smile which finally reached your eyes again and had so much warmth—filled with genuine love, that perhaps—after Rei noticing his own warmed cheeks and the soaring like heart, whenever he's near you—Jinpei mean it to make you love again, a person he trust and knew would be nothing but good to you.

So Rei had asked you and you said yes, then he asked for a second date with you—a third being planned, a fourth comes up next—and all the way to being in a steady relationship with you now.

Does Rei sometimes feel guilty to finally—after all these years of having an unrequited secret crush on you—being together with you under such circumstances? Yes, yes he does.

Does Rei regrets it in any way? No he doesn't.

Sure, Jinpei would be forever your first love—it's a love which always burns bright—but Rei knows, your love towards him is just as genuine and precious truthfully.

Okay, it does feel a tiny bit strange to be together with you and living the same house Jinpei once had lived in, but after adopting Haro it was better to move in with you—especially when you have adopted a dog, named Toji, as well.

The sun peeked through the half closed curtains, tickling Rei's nose and shining a bit onto his face—making him groan in annoyance from being awoken, ever so slightly, like that—turning around to you, circling his arms around your stomach and pulling you closer to him.

The pitter patter of tiny paws which rumbled through the corridors and towards the bedroom, were thunderous loud in the ears—and Rei counted in a whisper from ten to zero, at two he felt the jumping weight of two dogs onto the bed.

You too, after getting wet kisses of two snouts and tongue licking onto your face, groaned out—getting more awoken with the passing minutes.

»It's your turn to have a walk with them...« you said, voice heavy coated with sleep and sounding hoarse, to Rei and turning in his arms to face him—Haro and Toji jumping in the middle, making their space between you two, wanting have to have some snuggles as well.

»I know, but how about we sleep some more, these two certainly wanna do.« answered Rei, hand coming up to your hair—combing his fingers through it and ascending downwards to your face, caressing your cheeks.

You only hummed in agreement, already falling back asleep and Rei smiled—glancing to the picture of Jinpei on your nightstand, whispering prayer and small gratitude thank you—before kissing your lips.

Even when Rei would be locked out of heaven—he would be fine with it—as long as he is with you through the rest of his life on this humble earth.

Assuming you already read the WPS flashback case, what to predict Amuro will do??? Are we finally going to know about the tea party?

I'm 99% sure he's not gonna tell the BO, however do you think he will confront Vermouth regarding this? He's aware how protective Vermouth is towards Ran and Conan and must be wondering why. (honestly, i just miss this duo and want another case with these two)

I actually hope sensei is starting a PSB arc. We already have a lot FBI related arc while none for PSB. Plus, the past recent manga chapters is mostly about WPS related people + Amuro so I hope we will get another Amuro focused arc.

File 1134-1136 Review

I really enjoyed this WPS-centric flashback case, and it's special, not only because we got a young shinichi meeting his future ally Rei, mirroring Ripples case (File 972-974) where he met Shuuichi, but also because it's our first WP-gang focused case within the manga of DC.

I really enjoyed how all their personalities came together with ShinRan, from Hagi's cute interaction with young Ran in the car, to Jinpei's banter with young Shinichi.

There were some fun comedic Matsuda moments and action scenes with Hagiwara that further highlights DC's old-school quirky personality in the writing.

I also appreciated the bromance scene with Rei acting protective over Hiro, despite not really needing to (which even Gosho made a comment about in AC 2/12).

But of course, the biggest moment from this case was how both Conan and Rei mutually recalled and remembered each other from that past case, and how it lead to Rei officially piecing together from Conan's telling slip-up that he's actually Kudo Shinichi, who he met 7 years ago.

Now, in regards to Vermouth, who he was revealed to have promised to not harm Conan and Ran (File 955), with this new realization, it is highly likely that he will piece together that Vermouth most likely knows Conan's true identity (especially if Vermouth makes ambiguous remarks that with this context hints to her awareness).

He could also make the connection that Chris Vineyard (Vermouth), an american actress, has ties to Shinichi's mother Kudo Yukiko, a fellow actress, and therefore might have personal relations conflicting with her BO mission. The biggest advantage Bourbon has over Vermouth now is that he can further exploit that weakness just by threatening her that he will expose Shinichi's whereabouts to their no.2, Rum, if she doesn't aid him in further disguise stunts he might need. Of course, that would only be a last resort measure (if the blackmail over her secret isn't enough), since if he were to openly admit that he has figured out Conan's identity to Vermouth, it would arouse Vermouth's suspicion over his loyalty to the BO, as well as risk Conan's safety if Vermouth happened to not actually know his true identity.

On the other hand, we have Rei's order from Falcon Elder (File 1115), who wants him to investigate Edogawa Conan. This new development will likely halt Furuya from giving Falcon Elder any forthcoming intel, since he has most likely already made a protective deal for Shinichi with the Kudo family during their late night tea party (File 1012), so I can see him forcing Falcon Elder to make newer, potentially hintful, moves to investigate Conan (similar to Rum when he instead ordered Vermouth after not getting anywhere with Bourbon in File 1060).

I think however that this development will be the major stepstone for Furuya finally figuring out Haibara's true identity and eventually having a proper meeting Elena's daughter (since he will now know that shrinking is possible), if anything, this is the most productive result we could get from this development.

Another potential development that could come from this is that with his knowledge of Vermouth's secret relationship with the Boss, if knowing about the existence of de-aging effects within the BO is something that could drastically alter his whole perspective on the secret and the gravity of it, then it could be something that further pushes him into the "Boss investigation" rabbit hole, but that's only if such a layered relationship truly exist (and if he has enough context to realize it).

Pls, I need more time travel content of Conan ft. The Wild Police Squad. I feel like I wrote too many scenario drafts in my head and I can't get them out (so maybe I'll just babble it all here-).

The scenarios playing in my head are more on hurt/comfort centered, because in one idea, only Akai and Conan traveled back - few months before Hagi's death. And their whole motive aside from ending the BO is making sure that ALL of Rei's friends stay alive.

For Akai, maybe it's because he felt like it was the least he could do (and definitely double the effort to make sure Scotch lives).

For Conan, it's because he knows nobody deserves to be alone. Especially, not Rei.

Then comes the outsider's POV with the squad being like: "idk this kid, but it feels like he's heaven sent; and if anything happens to him, we'll wage war"

and if anyone asks why not the 'kill-others-and-then-myself' line, they will reply: "It feels like we'd be disappointing the kid if we do that, and something tells us we don't want that to happen."

And then when it's the timeline for Scotch's supposed death, Akai did the most idiot thing that will have Conan lecturing him (that's why he won't tell) - he pointed the gun at himself, with Scotch still holding the trigger.

Of course, naturally, Hiro was frozen not for the fact that Rye had a grip on the revolver's cylinder, but because killing Rye was one thing he couldn't do. Not after finding out he's FBI. Not when Rye has a son waiting for him.

Now, this is not where the hilarious misunderstanding occured, but rather during their recon (the flashback of Masumi meeting Scotch). Let's say after the mission, they wondered why Rye still stuck around the train station, so they (him and Rei) followed out of curiousity and saw a young teen, around the age of the girl, hug the long-haired sniper with the said sniper twirling the boy around. (They basically mistook Shinichi as Akai's son, yeah).

I'm just stopping things here cuz I don't think I can be cohesive enough as it goes on. It's probably not the end of my time travel musings, though.
