I'm still stubbornly poking at this Fluffbruary attempt that has so far rolled days 3-12 into it and will be briefly paused as I have a different idea for days 13-14 that maybe I can bang out in short order and then come back to this and just keep rolling days into it. IDK. BUT ANYWAY:

"Are you a conversationalist, or a ride-in-silence enthusiast?" he asks, as the bus lurches into motion. "Ordinarily, the latter," the guy admits, glancing briefly at Hob. "But, as I stormed out with neither book nor earbuds, and I find myself with a chivalrous seat partner, perhaps I could be persuaded to the former just this once." "Very kind, thank you," Hob says, with a smile. "'Stormed out' sounds rather unpleasant; feel like unburdening to a friendly ear? I'd be happy to listen, if so. Or find something else entirely to talk about if not." His stranger turns to the window, watching the rivulets of rain trailing over the glass; there is a brief lull before he speaks. "I find myself creatively blocked, and my sister's attempts to be helpful. Were not." He sighs. "I left the house to clear my head, before saying anything truly unkind." "Smart," Hob agrees. He could listen to this guy and his dark-velvety voice talk all day. "'Smart' would have been making certain to grab more than just my phone and wallet." There's a pretty little scowl accompanying the words, that rosy mouth plumped out in the faintest pout, and Hob is smitten. "That may be, but then I'd hardly have had reason to say hello, and we'd both be sitting here reading our books politely ignoring one another. Silver lining?" "Perhaps," the guy says, but he sounds agreeable enough.

Currently working on: My mental health? lmao. Work's been insanely dramatic lately and I finally got a resolution to a stupid problem today so yay! I feel like a massive weight's been lifted from me honestly.

personal questions tag game!

I got tagged by @ginoeh, thank you! Were you named after anyone?

Actually yes, I did a bit of digging because my Mom always said I was named after (a book character by?) Liselotte Welskopf-Henrich, but I think they named me after what she received as an honourary name by the Dakota, "Lakota-Tashina". (My parents were always very interested in Native American cultures) Since I know that I like my name a lot more even if I haven't earned it the same way :)

Do you have kids?

Yes, one :)

Do you use sarcasm?

A lot, mostly when I'm angry or taking the piss. It's probably awful for everyone involved because I can get very cruel :/ (I'm not proud of this)

What's the first thing you notice about people?

I try not to look at people? Because of anxiety, but then I usually notice how they are talking, their tone of voice and posture, how comfortable they are. I'm bad at remembering names but faces are better once I got the nerve to look at them LOL

What's your eye colour?

It's brown. I wish I had inherited my dad's grey-green though :/

Scary movie or happy ending?

Happy ending please. I like to be scared a bit sometimes, but I handle horror podcasts better than movies

Any special talents?

I can draw quite well I guess!

What are your hobbies?

Drawing my favourite blorbos, writing fanfiction, crochet

Not since I was a kid. I'd like to have one again but I don't like the hair getting everywhere

None. In German we say "Sport ist Mord" LOL I guess that's me. But I enjoyed Badminton in school

I'd love to be a comic artist or book illustrator but I'm disillusioned enough (or old enough) to know that I do not have the stamina to be a full-time artist. I cannot handle the self-promotion necessary and would not have the energy to put out enough to make a living.

What ship were you completely obsessed with as a teenager, but now you don’t care about anymore?

As a teenager... well, that was quite a while ago lol. I suppose that would have been Harry/Draco. First fandom, first queer pairing, first smut stories. I was such a sweet sweet summer child XD The early 00s were wild

Which ship would you consider your first one?

Soooo. Funny story. Way back when, I got into fanfiction via fanfiction.net. You know how their filter system is bad/non-existent? Yeah. Little me, on her first outing to ffnet, didn’t know how to operate the character settings. I clicked on the first story on the top of the first page of the HP section. It was a Snape/Hermione star-crossed lover deal. It flash-fried my brain, taught me content curation in a crash course and incidentially made me partial to the ship for quite a few years...

Your first fanfic was about which couple?

See above lol. I will never ever forget the experience. I tried to find that story later for downloading (like an ugly beloved keepsake ig lol) but never managed.

If you mean fanfic I've written: it was gen.

Do you remember the first couple you saw fan art of?

Have you ever gotten into ship discourse?

Nope. Scraped by a few times since I entered the tumblr bubble but managed to stay out of it. I don’t get the point. It's freaking fictional characters in fictional worlds. Go touch grass or something instead... (but you will make me fucking mad if you try to drag me into these things with wild ad hom accusations based on what i ship or dont ship)

Did you used to have a NOTP or have one currently?

No, not really. It's only ever preferences. There are some I dislike due to my own hc/inability to suspend my disbelief but I wouldn’t call them NOTPs. I just don’t read them.

Who were the last couple in the last fanfic you read?

Dreamling

Currently, do you have any OTPs?

I actually dislike the term OTP. It's a scale of preferences for me. There are few (read: none) fav characters that I can only see with one love interest (and anyway, sometimes i do prefer plot over love story. wild take i know) and the more time I spend in a fandom the more I diversify.

Is there any couple that, to this day, you are extremely mad about not getting into?

I don’t get this question, sorry. If I'm interested, I'll search it out. Even if the fandom is old. AO3 is an archive for exactly that reason.

Is there any ship you used to dislike but now you think they’re kind of interesting?

Not that I can think of, at the moment!

Do you have any ship that, in the past, would have been considered normal but now you would be cancelled over?

Probably? I'm not clear on what all one is getting cancelled over this week/month/year by which group of 'concerend bystanders'. I suppose I might get cancelled for the mentioned Hermione/Snape?

What is your favourite crack ship?

I'm so glad you asked. It's clearly Dream/Helm (thank you for that @writing-for-life ) Or Gollum/The One Ring (thanks go to Neil himself here). Or - actually, never mind lol.

What is the couple you read the most fanfics about?

At the moment it's Dreamling. But I cycle through fandoms/pairings periodically...(btw im looking for more Johanna/Death? If anyone could point me in the right direction?)

What do most of your ships have in common?

At least one character has a dark/unknown/violent/tragic past (they can be victim or perpetrator!!! I'm all for character development babey)

What do you absolutely hate in a ship?

I don’t hate ships? As I said above. Possibly the reduction on 'I can fix him/her' or 'my love will save him/her from depression/"the darkness"/etc.' but that is mostly a matter of the author's style of crafting characterization and plot and has nothing to do with the ship itself.

There are a few people irl who know! There's Mr. ginoeh for one, an old college friend, and since October even a few friends at my university who know. Of them, though, only Mr. ginoeh knows my pseud. But he never even takes a peek lol

👻 I there a new genre you'd like to write?

Hm. I've only written one horror story so far and would like to explore that a bit more. Does that count? I'd love to try my hand at tradgedy but then again, Sandman... lol

🐌 What is one of your smalles writing goals?

Idk if I understood this question correctly but - I'd be really happy if I finally manage to stick to a pre-decided wordcount for a chapter XD

I circle through my fandoms periodically, so yeah, I guess I will - eventually, inevitably - return to Twilight. I still have a wip after all with half of a new chapter already written and a whole outline to boot. Also, there’s a Halloween Thing (TM) I'll be taking part in due to one of the Twilight Discord servers I'm in, so maybe that’s somwthing to look forward to...

Atm though I'm slogging away at my Naruto fic which more than deserves an update (And maybe, maaaybeee Jujutsu Kaisen timetravel fix-it fics have me by the throat rn, who know def not me )

💥 Is there a chapter, scene or WIP you're most excited to write? Share a snippet or tell us about it!

I'm very excited about quite few scenes that I'll be writing in the next few weeks. But since they're all part of my Big Bang project, I can't really talk about any details atm... I'm sorry!

🛏 Is there a new trope you'd like to write this year?

I haven't done an enemy-to-lover yet... The secret identity trope is something I'd like to do as well XD

🪩 Do you have any "good" writing habits you want to cultivate?

I wouldn’t call them habits (yet), but I've started to be less obsessive and do more actual 'first draft' writing in the last few months. I want to get better at that! Also, writing down whatever comes to mind even if it’s just typed out on the phone (which I hate for writing btw).
