I find so interesting when i see people saying stuff like Simon and Britt would be an amazing duo because... I think their dynamic could be one of the most toxic ones if it's explored (Ofc they would get along at the end dw)

Brittany canonically is someone who push herself too hard to get what she wants, even if that includes putting her own well being aside to reach her goals. While Simon refuses to sleep or take care of himself when it comes to studying for a new project of his, or some invention and shit like that. I can totally see Brittany not understading what is wrong with Simon not getting enough sleep or not eating well if he is willing to get something. And at the same time i think Simon could be a total hypocrite by saying stuff like 'You shouldn't push yourself too much' while having the biggest eye bags on his stupid face.

Random thought: what if Jake and his brother were orphaned at a young age and were in the foster care system together? Could be a plethora of reasons why Jake joined the marines and Tommy went into science. But that theory would be plausible if they ended up being separated at some point? Idk. It’s just fun to think about.

I'm watching through the early Phil younows for the first time and boy, we understandably harp on Dan the most for the 2012 era denial/overcompensating but Phil's contributions are fascinating. So far my highlights include:

"Dan and I don't do everything together because then we would get sick of each other...as friends" ok no one was reading into it as if you weren't friends

Him willingly reading out "would you rather marry Dan or lick a hobo" and having an extended moment of silence that lasts way too long to be casual as he fights for his life trying to figure out what to say before saying hobo and quickly trying to move on. Then Dan joins later on and he unprompted tells Dan about this. Also should be noted shortly after he answered he was like "huh weird my chat is suddenly being slow and there's nothing for me to read out" which seems a little too convenient to me

So so insane about just how well the Dune movies walk the line between making Paul sympathetic and making him...uhh.....everything else.

Because it would be easy to tip it too far in either direction and make him out to be either cartoonishly evil or (excuse the term) woobified -- but I think the key to it is that it's never depicted as being a "but" situation and rather always a "yes, and" situation. Yes, Paul is a very young, very deeply alone person who has lost everything and is under the pressure of thousands of years of genetic engineering and religious propaganda and really never stood a chance against all that, and it's a tragic and heartbreaking thing to witness. That is all true. Also, he's using an oppressed group of people for his own political gain and is about to cause both a horrible environmental disaster and a war that will leave countless people dead, among other very very bad things that you are absolutely not supposed to agree with and root for. This is also true. All those things are equally true, and it WILL make you uncomfortable. And you as the viewer are not supposed to choose a side to fall on, you're fully intended to see all of that at once and walk that fine line with the character, and the chaotic and messy experience of having all those things packed together as truth without it being an either/or situation is absolutely the most accurate way of perceiving him.

It hurt but I have finally accepted I got attached to the wrong side characters and we will never get another grim reaper arc. The manga may have lost me, but I will always have a soft spot for this trio.
