OK okokok... gonna put this 'I just woke up' thought out there because this is tumblr and what else is it for? Someone has probably already said this and I haven't seen it, but whatever. I will throw it out anyway.

SO... Gale. We've all seen the posts where people quote the Gale lines about being naturally gifted with magic as a baby, a prodigy etc. and then point out that this is sorcerer behaviour.

BUT, what if... you're all right and it is sorcerer behaviour. BUT the orb feeds on weave/magic right? And sorcerers are born with innate magic... so what if he was born a sorcerer, then trained as a wizard, but the orb consumed his sorcerous magic. And that's why he's not as powerful as he once was, because, unbeknownst to him, all this time, he's been using that natural sorcerous connection to make accessing the weave easier. And now that's gone. Eaten up. Destroyed forever by the Netherese void.

And that's part of what's causing him pain. Because an instrinsic part of himself has been taken away. And he feels it like a phantom limb. Maybe he thinks it was actually connected to his relationship with Mystra, rather than a part of him, and that adds to his sense of loss from that relationship.

What if the first magic item Gale fed to the orb was himself and he doesn't even realise it?

Stumbled upon a Reddit thread (don't ask) where people still whine and bitch about having to pick the "Nah, fucked that up too," dialogue option at the Oil fields to have a good relationship with Johnny. Saying that it needs to get fixed, calling it 'antagonizing' him, further proving that they don't understand him or his friendship with V at all. Sorry, but what's still not clicking? Holding him accountable for what he did and being honest with him is the only way you can have a good relationship with him for a reason.

It's not scolding him, it's not being mean, it's just V telling him 'No, what you did hurt me and I can't trust you anymore.' And he needs that, he needs someone who won't let him get away with the shit he does, he needs someone who is honest with him and won't just agree with everything he says so that he can grow and change. He knows he royally messed up, but he needs to hear that from V too. How do you expect V to have a true friendship with him if they just let him walk all over them and act like he did nothing wrong and everything's fine?

And it makes sense that the devs chose this as the secret ending unlocker because you can't have them storm Arasaka Tower together in full synergy when some parts of them are still at odds with each other.

Listen, I love Johnny as much as we all do here, but he needs to be called out when he messes up, and that's that.

So I had another thought about 3x05

So the mosaic timeline did happen- just in the past of timeline 40. Apparently. Because they can remember it, and the letter to Margo exists, right?

And when they read the letter, and see/smell/taste the peaches and plums, they remember. Not everything, but little parts.

It seems like the implication here is that- because it had already happened, with their consciousness, they could’ve hypothetically remembered those little parts at ANY TIME.

If something had triggered those memories beforehand, some way before reading the letter to Margo, maybe they would’ve been able to remember.

So I was like, omg, mini fic idea possibly, one of them accidentally triggers those memories before they ever meet. And I guess assumes that they’re like, dreams or something.

Until they meet the other. And then suddenly, everything is strange. And the whole fic is just them freaking out because they’re both remembering parts of a whole life they had together, convinced they’re going crazy, while subconsciously being drawn to each other and becoming friends and such

But other than that it follows canon. It’s an alternate universe, where all the events still happen, but that’s just an underlying tone.

There is something so inherently funny to me about this particular option. You wake up in a groggy state and he is just standing there at the edge of the bed!

He's apologetic and you can't believe what you're hearing, so when you hear him say that he's sorry, you suddenly bolt awake and you're staring at him with wide eyes, and he has to put his hands up to stop you from doing something before you're completely awake. You can't believe it, he can't believe it, but you're both staring at each other, and it's awfully strange.

What do we do?

I'm really just Feeling Things tonight about the conversation with Gale after Elminster's visit and like. Gale is So Insistent that if Mystra says he needs to blow himself up, then it must be the best option. The only option. And of course he is! Because what's the alternative? If there's another way, any other way, that means either

1. Mystra doesn't care enough to consider whether there might be another option. Gale blowing himself up is the easiest solution, so that's what she goes with. Or, even worse,

2. She does know there's other options, but tells him to sacrifice himself anyways, because it gets rid of two of her problems at once.

Gale doesn't just assume she's right because she's a goddess. He goes along with it because of what it implies about him, and her, and how she sees him if there is another way. He has to believe that this is the only option. Because the alternative? That he's disposable at best and actively unwanted at worst? That's just too much to bear.

What exactly does Anne Boleyn do to Mary? I know that Anne's "malicious stepmother" is mostly smeared, but she does have some suppression and hostility towards Mary, right?

The reports only come from Chapuys, the most infamous being that she ordered her aunt to ‘box her ears as a cursed bastard’ if she continued to insist to be called Princess, the less so of the same dispatch (and infinitely more plausible, imo) that she wasn’t to be allowed to eat in her own chambers, and had to eat in the dining hall, so that Princess Elizabeth’s precedence was enforced (an odd ritual visually, since she was literally an infant-toddler, but she was supposed to rank higher than all else of her household, including Mary, & AB likely wanted this reinforced).

Some historians believe this was ordered, but never effected, there’s only one that believes it was, iirc (Anna Whitelock), some believe it was exaggeration. There’s pretty good arguments for the first and last, it’s an odd report in myriad ways: 1) Mary wasn’t a servant, this was a joint household in which she was merely the ‘lesser’ of the King’s daughters (it was the remit of nobles to physically chastise servants, specifically), 2) Mary was an adult, so while corporal punishment for royal children was not unheard of (it happened to Edward VI, and nearly to Henry Fitzroy), it wasn’t typically towards royal adults, not even royal ‘bastards’, and it if did it was aberrant enough that chroniclers would generally comment (none did, here), 3) Chapuys never gives us any update on this report? Like whether her ears were ever boxed or not? If that specific punishment is continuing? Etc She was a threat to AB & her daughter and AB treated her as such. She made some conciliatory attempts which were rebuffed. Some believe she would never have made the first unless she ‘had’ to, I believe she made it because she had confidence the Acts of Parliament were going to pass soon in her favour, and would make Mary’s stance dangerous.

Tl; dr Mary was derogated and isolated , and there’s some debate on to what degree this was Anne’s influence vs HVIII’s (what happened to her after Anne’s execution, however , proves Anne was, at the least, not the sole author of her mistreatment)
