I'm getting back into practicing some art, actually

So a study I did today, suddenly remembering that The Magicians was a thing

Having a really long-term hyperfixation that has since faded is terrifying yes but it's also so embarrassing. Hi I used to think about Scrimblo Splungus 25/7. Yeah, for 2 years straight. Nah, I don't think about them anymore except for with a vague sense of melancholy as I recall how they used to make me feel. Anyways this new one, Blimpkins McGee? I'm gonna think about them forever and the cycle will NOT repeat in 2 years. Trust me guys.

Hey so my art teacher assigned us a project where we have to make an animatic of cartoon characters we made in like 10 minutes and then show it to the class (which is already kind of a nightmare, especially when the only thing you can think of involves SHOWTUNES) but imagine my horror when I sent it in and it was revealed that I had once more used my iconic move of Not Reading The Instructions Correctly and so now I have to pull out A WHOLE OTHER MINUTE FOR THIS THING.

For some reason I decided to study some basic Ukrainian? It intrigued me I guess- and I’ve found so far that in terms of conjugation it’s just like French but better, and the pronunciation of letters is kinda like French too only with more throaty hissing noises (k, hch, hhh, rrr, j, g, dz)

I was so frustrated for so long that I wasn’t able to do poetic analysis of The Magicians, because I find deep dives into subtext and symbolism and all that so interesting, and ironically all it took for me to be able to start analyzing it was to let the hyperfixation cool down a bit

Genuinely I got so excited every time I thought about it that I was incapable of pinning down any real deep thought about it beyond fairly explicit connections/references within the series and breakdowns that other people had done, and all I had to do was let it calm down a bit so I could take out my critical lense

Why do I always get so fixated on things that make me physically ill to think about???

Holy shit. I got another friend to watch The Magicians, but this time I didn’t tell her ANYTHING beforehand (I basically propagandized the other one beforehand- @amaniiiite 🥰)

And she is on. The EXACT. SAME. WAVELENGTH AS ME.

Identical opinions on almost EVERYTHING IN THE SHOW SO FAR. Even the opinions that NOBODY AGREES WITH ME ON.

And. She’s just finished the episode where they kill the beast. She loves Quentin and Eliot.

She ALREADY LOVES THEM! She says they’re “in love to her” and I am SO EXCITED for her to watch season 3. I’m going to watch 3x05 with her. I am OVERJOYED.
