EDIT: just realized that i should clarify something. what i meant by "feel bad for nie huaisang :(" was that jiang cheng felt bad for nie huaisang after nie mingjue died, because having to assume the burden of sect leadership while still grieving was something jiang cheng understood as well.

that poll option does NOT mean "jiang cheng thinks nie mingjue is abusing nie huaisang" or whatever. i should have made that clearer and i'm only realizing now my phrasing was in fact Dogshitte. i'm sorry.

I started drawing this one last night --- actually, I started forcing myself to draw it last night. I'm trying to readjust to drawing digitally (not to mention getting used to Clip Studio Paint), and I can confirm that I have another sketch being run through Glaze right now! As of posting this, it'll be ready in another thirty minutes. Once both of them are done, I plan on printing them through RedBubble.

excuse the quick sketch, for this post is less about the art and more about the idea behind it... i have this headcanon from when geralt's company was trekking with the beekeepers through the wilderness:

although they were initially very grateful to have three meals a day prepared for them, they quickly got sick of having honeyed porridge served for all three of them. "Everything was sticky from the honey, even the young women." milva began to get nauseous at mealtimes, and cahir, usually ravenous at mealtimes as befits a strapping young lad such as he, even turned down a few bowls.

regis, however, was quite happy with it.

because, as is mentioned later in the book, about saovine traditions: "The spirits of the dead (...) should be given honey and groats, all sprinkled with vodka…" i imagine some confusing night where he went into a villager's hut to drink blood, but, it was around saovine, so they were even expecting someone like him to arrive and to even be looking for such a thing. prepared for such a situation, they handed him some kasza with honey. he didn't really know what to do with it, but they instructed him on how to eat... it was surprisingly pretty good, so he started pulling this on all the other villages, like hey i;m "undead" (whatever that means) do you have any "porridge" with "honey." yeah also put a little vodka on it while you're at it.

so honeyed groats turned out to be the first human food he ate, and over time, became like a comfort food to him. now he has it without the vodka though

How does Celebrimbor inform Galadriel/Cirdan/etc that he is going to Numenor because they have taken his cat hostage? :D

Oh so that's the funny thing. He doesn't.

See, Numenor does some sly little trick where they send Celebrimbor a notice that they've got his cat captured before they even manage to catch him. With no word coming back from the Men they had sent out previously, they assume Celebrimbor and the other elves have been doing something to them. So they decide to aim for an easier target-his cat. I mean, how hard could it be to catch ONE cat? According to rumors the thing roams the woods around the city so they don't even have to break in. So they might as well send the letter to him a bit early. Speed things up, you know. Unlike elves, Men are on a time crunch here.

Sauron isn't sure how to feel when this newest batch of Men starts throwing fish at him and making weird sounds with their mouths. Flabbergasted, perhaps? Confused? Whatever emotion this is it leaves him open enough that one of the Men manages to accidentally beam him in the face with a sardine.

Celebrimbor, of course, gets the letter from Numenor and drops everything. He shows up just in time for Numenor to have his dear Annatar in a bag of all things. He's so worried that of course he agrees to follow them without concern. I mean, these are Men after all, not orcs. Surely this is all just some misunderstanding?

It's only later when he's actually stepped off the boat on the island that he looks around and realizes he basically vanished in the middle of the night without telling anyone at all.

Books of 2024: ORDINARY MONSTERS by J. M. Miro.

Swinging from a teeny tiny read (A SHINING) to this behemoth, which weighs in at 658 pages (that's like. uh. nine (9) SHININGs, never mind about the word density per page).

Did I know this is the first book in a trilogy? No. Did I know the trilogy is not yet complete?? Also no. Will that stop me from reading it now anyway??? Wow, you guessed it: No.

I'm always down books featuring corvids in the cover art and kids with mysterious powers, AND the "man made of smoke" that the jacket promises sounds Very Intriguing. All I know going into this book is what the jacket tells me, though, so I'm excited to be surprised!

Went to the bookstore today and asked about their mythology section and this frickin guy had the gall to be like "Yeah it's over here, but these are really dense and difficult so let me show you the children's mythology section." I was so baffled I didn't say anything. Normally I would've been very offended, but I couldn't help but laugh because I was like "I've been reading those massive textbook-esque mythology books since I was a literal child as research for my novel, sir. But sure, show me the kid's section, I like reading kids' books too."
