#all of us flames is the one I'd beg you to listen #cuz it's genuinely. a piece #I think about its opening and ending tracks so often #it doesn't try to be this big political statement album ezra is expressing her grief and fears and convictions #in such a personal way. that still lets people in yk the kindred spirits #the music is great but her songwriting and story telling are so unique and amazing and ugh.#and also im gonna sound so pretentious be ready #but she doesn't deserve to be remembered for bein the sex education netflix soundtrack #when she wrote this album #that starts with the most poignant metaphore. and ends with another most poignant metaphore.#'and what do your rainbows do here on the ground?' jfc #cowboy Ballads is also a magnificent quarantine album #and to everyone who hasn't watched moonage daydream YET. treat yourself and happy new year

has anybody else thought about how jk could easily manage sofia's parts of slow dance or is it just me?

#jikook #bts #everybody is working to insert jk in who where i just don't see it (other than the seven parallels)#and not talking much about what i see as WAY more obvious nods most especially in rebirth #like jm sings about wanting to be worthy of someone - maybe someone who just became a huge SOLO global popstar?#and mentions 'real love' - what was the name of that chapter in the bangtan book again?#and the feminine pronouns not present it's just the nebulous 'you' that in jimin songs often stands in for 'army'#(and one very specific 'fan' who has said he is ALSO army)#it's the 'i wanna be with you'#the answer for jk's 'i am still' with its unspoken additional 'still with you' layer #and then we get slow dance and we're back to the nebulous 'you' - on an island he-#oh wait what was that about a pair that traveled to an island? and filmed some stuff there that we'll see soon? hm #the reason this set me off though is the lines about 'cancelling my plans' to live to 'the tempo of our favorite song'#the falling deep into lines etc etc #because we know what happens when those two get together - they lose track of time everything else fades away #it's why they haven't done lives. why 'you and me' are 'up all night' why jm knows that as soon as jk is around #his self-discipline will crack and he'll fall into the pattern he tried to head off by separating from jk while making face #and we *know* jimin wrote on this song #frankly if he *hadn't* gotten a female feature everybody would be JUMPING on this song as a jikook anthem #the inclusion of sofia works perfectly - like hammering the pin back in a grenade #but i was reading those lines and thinking how high she went and going who else could sing this ...?#huh. who do we know of who can sing *anything*? and who has a range that can hit and blend with jimin's perfectly?#so. i dunno. y'all do your delulu the way that works for you and i will do my delulu my way lol #personally i think the eyes in the mv look like a screenshot from the love wins all mv but that's only me #i think the parallels with seven work more #and speaking of parallels (there are so many) i think this album was built to ensure jm is on equal footing with a certain someone #it's the commerciality of it - as though jm was like we will be together in this as well #when he seems not to be super interested in global domination but still 'special' enough to be on the same level with his love

hahaha i just looked up taylorswifs age to see if it was at all justified that someone on here called her 'almost middle aged' and she's 34 😭😭😭 u guys have got to stop, even actual middle-aged women often are cringe and write bad poetry, as they should. try going to a poetry open mic or something.

this isn't a defence of taylor as a songwriter because who cares and idk enough to tell u. but i guess i find the idea that she should be ashamed of herself because 'women who are younger than her are writing/have written way better stuff' absurd. like yeah? such is the way of the world. age doesn't really matter that much. girls who are younger than me are writing poetry that's better than mine and i'm undoubtedly writing stuff that's better than some women who are older than me. I'm all for an honest criticism of, well, anything, particularly pop music but that isn't an honest criticism lol or even remotely relevant.

anyway im listening to michelle branch and avril lavigne rn so I can't really talk about cheesy pop music lol. it has its place in society is my feeling i guess and ppl r gonna enjoy it, it's made to be enjoyed is the whole thing about pop music and the fact that ppl like it is not worth getting up in arms about. chill. relax. do some ketamine

#sometimes I will think about this quote I read once that said ‘Shakespeare wrote better than he could write. Michael Angelo painted #better than he could paint’ and the point was just. the art as something almost speaking through the artist #especially at certain points #and I feel that way about Taylor #I don’t know how to explain it but sometimes I hear her songs so differently than at other times #like sometimes. (this is going to sound insane) sometimes they sound too fast to me #like. it’s TOO efficient.#in terms of structure #because she is BRUTALLY efficient almost #and sometimes (sorry I keep using the word sometimes) I just want to reach out my hand and like. rest it over the song #and tell it to breathe. and at other times I can FEEL the song slot into place and I can feel the depths reached and I can feel the stars #align into place as she taps into the greater truth #like the first time I heard loml #and burst into tears #or when I listened to it again when I was on a drive in the mountains with Nina and I just started sobbing at the end #it doesn’t hit for me every single time (though every time it’s a good song)#is what I’m trying to say #and I think it’s because Taylor’s talent is the most restless spirit I’ve ever seen. she’s like a beanstalk growing right in front of me #and so as wonderful as she is she is never as wonderful as she WILL be #and I hate that attitude generally (so much) of being like ‘she’s just getting started that’s the crazy’#but the truest comments about Taylor ALWAYS say that #and it’s always struck me as true!!!! and that is why every album is better than the last and to an extent makes her previous work #look small in hindsight.#I keep being so struck by tortured poets and the way it has synthesized the personal and the storytelling #into a new blend we have NEVER seen before. the muses are present but theY ARE NOT PRESENT IN THE SAME WAY #they do ! not ! matter ! the way they used to #in her art she is getting farther away from what we call diaristic songwriting and she is moving deeper into the world of art #and as she does it you can FEEL (or at least I can feel or at least I think I can feel) the lightning and thunder (so to speak) gathering #in her heart and in her mind and in her journey and she is going to EXPLODE one of these days

The posts the other night wondering if Taylor ever shared any of the TTDP music with Joe in contrast to him formerly being the first person she’d share her music with have been living rent free in my mind tonight 😵‍💫

I know we’ll never know nor should we, but the idea that she was potentially sitting with all these Big Feelings and possibly suddenly feel like she had to keep these songs to herself (or worse, that he wouldn’t care either way) just… makes me feel badly for her. It’s all speculation and parasocializing so I’m not purporting any of this as fact but like… just in personal experience… It’s not unusual at all.

Anyway don’t know where I’m going with this I’m so tired

#like… given how different it is from the rest of the album… I wonder if YLM was one of those tracks they wrote during midnights when #she recorded and was like ‘immediately no’ and stuck it in the ‘never gonna see the light of day’ folder on the hard drive #until it did #soooooooooo curious how much was written during 2022 and how much in 2023

I know some idiots love to act like Taylor just throws albums together in weeks, but she spent two years working on TTPD and tweaking to get to the final product. Her potentially releasing a new album so soon is not a reason to be worried about quality. She was already working on ts12 before TTPD was announced.

You gotta be new if you don’t know that she writes in real time and only puts what she feels fits with an album

#i see so called fans worried about quality pls you are new and it shows #she isn’t just throwing albums together #these aren’t filler songs and I’m sure there’s even more that didn’t make the cut #I don’t have the dates when the newer songs were recorded but don’t think it was after Singapore #she headed to studio right after Singapore #she’s been working on ts12 #she wrote red while promoting and touring for speak now #she wrote hundreds alone for 1989 #there was also themes that are very midnights and folklore so things could’ve been older and she had it shelved #she’s been more productive than ever and that quality hasn’t changed #also 1989 movie was edited fast and a mess yet eras movie was even faster but it was good #she writes in real time and you’re new if your worried
