idk how to say this but sometimes some things are played as a joke and aren't meant to be taken seriously
#like i know people smarter than me have the actual words for what i mean but you know how sometimes you watch a battle shonen and#a character knocks out another one as a joke and youre meant to see it as a joke#when in the same ep a villain can knock out the same character the same way and you're meant to see it as the character getting harmed#it would be dumb to perceive the jokey dynamic the same as the protagonist x antagonist one#anyway what i mean is i dont think the 118 are being asshole with their reaction to buck's dilemma unless the show decides to address it#that way#yall cant get upset on behalf of a character if the show doesnt make the active choice to explore that aspect#(they still can btw the arc is not wrapped up yet but some of these takes are weird as hell to me)#it's getting into tommy was being rude flirting with buck when bobby is in the hospital territory#TO ME

Listen guys, I just wanted to say this, may not to be important but needs to said:
PEOPLE HATE WAY 'CAUSE HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE HATED
that's it, that's the post...ok let me elaborate
As the saying goes, "you have to be the villain in someone's story for them to be the hero", and this may not be the most fitting sentence in context to WAY but in a way it is. Listen, why do we love characters like vegas/kiyoi/charn but dislike the dr from sign or way to be specific?? Interesting question right?
Vegas/Kiyoi/Charn are not "evil" characters, they are not supposed to be looked over or hated 'cause of whatever they did (killing for Vegas, bullying for kiyoi and Charn being the evil lawyer) 'cause their motive to commit a crime outweigh the consequences of the crime itself. Why did Vegas kill people?? He was from the minor family who were always overshadowed by the major, lived with his abusive ass mf dad, was raised and treated like an animal and when the final fallout with pete happens, he realises he treated pete the exact same way he was treated all these years, like an animal (pls don't even treat animals like that) and the realisation alone made THE vegas beg to Pete. Even though Vegas is a murderer, a criminal, people can sympathize with him 'cause he has a convincing story of extreme physical and emotional abuse to tell, his story perfectly explains him as a person and doesn't matter how bad/evil he is, people still cry out for him, people still feel the pain 'cause to some extent, people can relate to it. Same for kiyoi and Charn (I am not elaborating but there are many psychological takes on kiyoi here which are really good)
Now this solid back story lacks in the case of Dr and Way. Even if Way was not the "Enigma", he would still be a very annoying character, he is not the cool "loki" rather actually annoying lmao, mostly because nothing about way, till now, can explain what he did, like why did he hypnotise and manipulate babe?? FOR 10 YEARS?? why did he have to manipulate everyone against Charlie and Jeff about the car accident??? He was suspicious of Charlie, but actually he wasn't. He didn't know anything about him, did no research about him, did not have any reason, technically, to doubt him cause he had zero proof about Charlie or even jeff doing something, he just wanted to cut both off 'cause jealousy. He even saved the bfs in the last ep just 'cause babe was there, if only charlie was there or someone else with him, he would have left them. And I am not even kidding. Remember how after knocking the guy out, way goes "come on, Babe" totally refusing to acknowledge charlie being there. He could have just went "let's go" or "come on guys" but no. And if he infact is the enigma, then that just adds up to the selfishness and nothing. I am not saying that a character needs a dramatic backstory to explain their wrongs but way has...nothing. like from all perspectives he would have won, he did not have a loss. Also the biggest deception is literally from his part. The fact that not only babe, but literally every character including jeff - charlie, trust him, the fact that he tries to come off as a concerned friend but actually is just a manipulative bitch with victim complex, and to make it worse his "love" is more of a "possession" like unfiltered unsexy possession lmao. Exactly like the doctor. Both don't have any reason to do anything they did, they just want to see the world burn but not in the "oh the world is shitty" Charn way rather they are the upper hand and basically are toying with things for their pleasure.
Nothing worse than a character being merciless to people for no reason, they are either sociopaths or just rich and this would have been a great thing in crime/thriller genre not romance.
#lgbtq#bl drama#pit babe the series#I hope this makes sense#anyways#context and perspective is very imp#in media#tw: abuse

oh my god this fucking show.
*slaps roof of coffin* We can fit so many kinds of emotional ruin in this baby! I do not think I have seen a show tear down everything it built like this since Hannibal's S2 finale. But it's not tragic in the same way. This is the gleeful destruction of a kid building elaborate structures out of blocks so they can knock them over.
God, Jacob's acting has been so fucking good this season but this episode was just. Armand sitting there in the crypt listening to Louis go mad with grief and starvation. The absolute mindless ferity when he's planning his revenge, and how much vicarious satisfaction you get from hearing the screaming as the flames ignite.
(I watched a little bit of the bts after the episode and Ben Daniels is so fucking delighted to get his prop head chopped off. The glee in his voice when Jacob sends him that pic is the cutest shit.)
Daniel is such an interesting homewrecker. That bit in ep 5 where he has to go back to his own book to retrieve his previous words. I think he would have fucked up his life even without Louis's admonition/command/whatever. But there's always that little bit of doubt and I think it would have haunted him if he'd remained mortal.
And it's fascinating to see him poke and prod even after he's gotten the story from both Louis and Armand. All those inconsistencies that seemed inconsequential but then lead to something significant. I wouldn't even call it misdirection, just using new information to interrogate the text from the correct perspective (har har). And you can see the trepidation when he pulls out the script, knowing what's going to happen, but it's not just his job to excavate the truth, it's his calling. All characters have a bit of a writer (or writing team) in them, but Daniel feels invested with a lot of affection from people who understand his line of work.
Armand. Oh god, Armand. This show is neo-puritan kryptonite in the best way. The narrative never excuses Armand's actions, heinous as they are, but it also makes it difficult to villainize him for it. He is so, so fucked up and broken it's more sad than anything else. (I don't think it even gets to the level of tragic, because tragedy is too dignified for his motivations. I mean this descriptively, not pejoratively.)
Louis and Lestat making up in a rickety-ass old house in New Orleans during a hurricane is not exactly light symbolism, but it is extra af in a way that is very them.
Random things:
How long has Lestat been plunking at that wooden "keyboard"? Those finger marks are deep.
"Did you hurt yourself?" 😭😭😭
Louis's goofy-ass tourist outfit with the Saints ballcap lmao
I want to know the circumstances of Daniel's vamping. He just blew up Armand's entire life. Was it retaliatory? Armand has never made a fledgling until now. I am so curious to see why now. (Also he's gonna fuck that old man and I'm so happy for them both.)
Absolutely the first thing I would do if I became a vampire is change my eye color, just because.

sorry if I'm bothering you but I FINALLY FIND SOMEONE ELSE WHO PREFERS FTF BUT PURELY BECAUSE OF OUR LOVE FOR WILLOW (we're the only ones right about her) like yeah, it's DEFINITELY not a perfect episode but IT'S ABOUT THE CHARACTERS. and I LOVE TTT TOO BECAUSE OF LUZ but tbh I didn't like being in the fandom when TTT came out because THERE WAS SO MUCH STUFF ABOUT HUNTER, TO THE POINT WHERE PEOPLE THOUGHT HE SHOULD BE THE MC AND NOT LUZ??? I love my boy but I felt overwhelmed at all of this so him not getting too much in FTF was fine for me :)
Firstly, I'd like to say YES!! FOR THE FUTURE SOLOS!!! LITERALLY SOME OF THE BEST CHARACTER WORK, ART DIRECTION, SOUNDTRACK, BOARDING, HUMOUR AND HORROR IN THE WHOLE SHOW!!!
Secondly I'd like to say that this is SUCH a can of worms that I've held back on talking about for A While™. Tbh it kinda feels like u read my mind I was literally thinking about this this morning.
(BIG ASS RAMBLE UNDER THE CUT. I AM NOT JOKING THIS POST IS SO LONG IT'S NOT EVEN FUNNY)
Both episodes are really fucking good, both on their own merit and when you take into account the circumstances under which they were made. I do not want to labour this point. I hate pitting two bad bitches against each other.
I AM however interested in investigating why, when two episodes are of similar quality, but with different priorities and focuses and (for lack of a better word) Vibe™ does the fandom demonstrably prefer one over the other?
Thanks to Them is BIG on plot. It's big on "establish what the kids have been doing, introduce Lore and Mystery, do the possession, fight the bad guy, get back to the demon realm, bada bing bada boom!!". I don't think it's nearly as relentlessly paced as some people think, and I think there are definitely emotional moments to be gleaned out of characters who AREN'T Luz, Hunter or Camilla- but overall it's similar to the most plot focused episodes of season 2. Your knock knock knocking on hootys doors and your hollow minds.
But for the future is a lot more concerned with character. Everyone gets some small moment to shine, though you're correct in saying that the focus is mostly on Luz, Willow and then probably the collector. But Camilla, Gus, Amity, Hunter, King, Eda and Lilith all get more emotional depth in a few lines than like. Willow did in half of thanks to them. even Belos gets more screentime this ep than he did in thanks to them, screentime that's much more illuminating (do love the moments he had in thanks to them but they weren't huge character moments really, just him villain-ing it up).
Less plot stuff happens, if you count the main goal as "get into the titans skull" then that's only introduced about a quarter of the way through the episode, whereas "get back to the human realm" is established as the goal of thanks to them in like. Negative screentime lmao. You basically know it's the goal coming in because you've watched king's tide already. For the future isn't like this!
And I GET IT MAN! checking in on the YouTube progress bar at the 3/4 of the way through elicited pure fear in me! But I feel like the fandoms fear of plots going unresolved and questions going unanswered has created this. Like. Attitude that the episodes need to be completely spartan or they're wasting time.
Like, with bringing back Boscha and Kikimora. Some people consider that a waste of time because they weren't Big Bads in seasons prior, meaning they should be low priority and don't belong here. And ppl are entitled to feel that way!
But I don't think you can call them wasted! Or irrelevant! I think the writers put a lot of work into making their storyline fit with the themes of the show! I have an essay I may never finish in drafts about this but- one of the most popular aspects of seasons 1 and 2 was the whole corrupt government storyline, which reached it's climax in king's tide but still had no resolution, same way hexside had no resolution from what happened after labyrinth runners. The writers combined these storylines by showing how hexside wasn't going to become a mini dictatorship like the isles old system (hence the title of the episode, changing things for the better "for the future"). That's efficient storytelling! Combining two plots into one in order to resolve both at the same time!
But people don't take this as an example of efficiency because it's not Lore or Plot based. And I think that's a real shame.
Both episodes have pacing and balance issues but I don't think one is especially egregious compared to the other? Nor do they have more pacing and balance issues than say, Clouds on the Horizon, which I'd say is one of MY least favouritely paced episodes of the show. Maybe thanks to them just had more novelty factor because of the setting (not to mention it probably benefitted from having one less subplot to juggle, but eh)
And about the fandom response after each episode....yeah. yeah.
I love Hunter. He's my baby. My scrimblo bimblo. He is like my twin brother. Literally. For reasons I cannot begin to explain here, hunter the owl house is like my twin brother.
And in all fairness to the fandom, plenty of people are normal about him. I know this because I've curated my experience to entirely be the people who are normal about him.
But the people who are not normal about him...my god.
Tbh I think this issue of focus actually lands on why I prefer for the future to thanks to them (THOUGH AGAIN. THEY BOTH SLAY)
The ending of thanks to them was so abrupt and emotionally charged that it felt like a betrayal, almost. The show went so hard and so fast that afterwards there was no breathing room and I didn't fully trust the show to be able to pull back afterwards. I thought either Hunter is going to eat up more and more screentime next episode by having to deal with the implications of every that happened five minutes from the episodes end, or they are literally never going to touch on him again. The ending of thanks to them was SO MUCH in so little time that I literally could not fathom a middle road.
Whereas the ending of for the future was a lot more. Aha, eureka! Moment to me. Like "OHH so that's what we're dealing with next episode!!! Nice". There was excitement and yeah, fear that things wouldn't land, but overall there was more trust in me. And of course, they did find a lovely medium between it being the Hunter show and addressing his trauma adequately. His arc was very emotional and satisfying this ep, without the borderline hard-to-enjoy turmoil that the ending of thanks to them put me through lol.
But I think, to some people, the sheer angst of thanks to thems ending was more emotionally rewarding than the well paced stability and slight ominousness of for the future. They felt that episodes end was too "mid". Too soft. The end of the show needs to go all out all the time, so this episode that focused more on emotional arcs and early season callbacks and payoffs is weak.
And to be honest, maybe my analysis here isn't as in-depth or as in-touch with fandom complaints as it could be! I've generally avoided the people harshly criticizing for the future because I like it when fandom is fun. I don't like watching one of my favorite episodes to date get dunked on. But that in and of itself (combined with the leak situation) has led to an inability to really Go All Out with fandom engagement rn. It's a struggle!
I've seen people describe for the future as en episode where Everything happened, and yet nothing happened. I get why! I personally prefer it to thanks to them because I feel like too much happened during that episodes climax to the point where it didn't even feel like the episode had true resolution.
But also, I get that for a lot of people, it's not even about construction. It's just about expectation and preference. People weren't expecting hexside, and when they got it, they got upset. People weren't expecting Willow, and when they got it, they didn't like it. And I get that. Really I do.
But this show is so fuckin wild. It does so much and throws so many curve balls at you. Never the big twists either, always the shit u don't expect. And it's great. I've honestly grown really fond of the way this show pokes me in the ass with something I didn't really expect or consider.
Not everybody is though and like. That's fine. But I do wish sometimes people would just. Kinda. Let it go when something goes in a direction they didn't expect. Because I didn't expect the direction FTF went in at all and I loved it once I stopped to think about it. But that's just me.
I think this is only like. 25% a direct response to things you said in the ask, so to conclude by answering/engaging with your ask point by point:
Willow stans and For the Future stans unite. This is our nation. Also shout-out to the fellow willow understanders I am mutuals with/follow you guys were really keeping us going in the pre for the future times
It's not a perfect episode but circumstances considering, it never could've been, and I'm okay with most of the ways it falls short. I'm also fully willing to hold out and see whether or not watching and dreaming rectifies any of my complaints, considering several of the issues I took with thanks to them were solved this ep, lol
Luz and Camilla literally stole the show in thanks to them and while I understand that the ending of that ep was very hunter centric, hence the hunter centric fandom atmosphere afterwards, I do prefer the environment in fandom rn that's appreciating this mother daughter duo rn
Hunter is not a main character imo. Not because he couldn't be but because his story is rendered infinitely more interesting when he is a supporting character. It's one thing to tell us that Hunter lives for other people and is made to forever be a second- best underling. It's another thing to show us this with his narrative role as the ultimate foil. He Is Better Off This Way. Also this point is dumb but I fully believe Hunter would be miserable as a main character. He does not want this
Also Luz is genuinely one of my favorite main characters in television. Maybe ever. If I start talking about her we'll be here all day. Just look at literally anything sepublic has written about her it's all on point
For the future had the perfect amount of Hunter content tbh. No episode should have more or less. I'm banging my gavel like a judge decreeing this to be so
#ramblings of a lunatic#asks#toh#that is literally the only thing i will tag this with it's a barely coherent nightmare behemoth and i do not need it in tags#anyway. I'm still holding out that these specials are gonna fundamentally work better together than as separate eps#i got the feeling when thanks to theme ending was off and i felt the same when the subplots of ftf went unresolved#it's not for now. each episode is just about cleaning up problems from the previous ep and exploring how its impacted our guys-#-before establishing a new short term goal and then achieving it via emotional trials and tribulations#it makes the months between eps agonizing but also. I would not be able to handle these guys being just s few weeks apart#it simply would not have computed in my brain#ANYWAY. here's a whole lotta nothing! hope any of it's understandable#no art tonight but i am gonna chip away at the darius/camila ask#that one should be close to wrapping up we're like..a bit more than halfway through it#hope it's more understandable than whatever i went off on here!

Why GwenDerick is the key to solving the Prez/Whitney Problem:
[This was partially inspired by @the-queen-of-ships post on how Whitney and Gwen are surprisingly similar, here. It really got my brain cogs turning.
Oh and lots of spoilers (up until ep.129). READ AT YOUR OWN RISK.]
Okay, buckle up folks, this is going to be a long one.
There are a lot, and I mean a lot of parallels between these two pairings, enough so that it’s almost impossible to just write them off as narrative accidents. And I’m not talking about the really superficial ones, like the one sided arranged marriage thing or how Frederick and Whitney come from really competitive families, as opposed to the largely supportive ones of Gwen and Calpernia— no.
I’m talking about shattering Perceptions.
Throughout the series we see multiple examples of how people’s perceptions of themselves change after being exposed to certain situations, none more obvious than Gwendolyn, of course, whose whole world turns upside down when she accidentally overhears her fiancé calling her ugly.
This one comment knots itself into a ball of unresolved feelings which eventually spirals down, down, down and manifests into a vision of a broken reflection that Gwen sees every time she looks in the mirror.
While Gwen’s is the most direct translation of the metaphor, i.e. Frederick Literally Shattered The Version of Herself She’d Known Until Now, it’s not the only time we can see it happening in the series.
Far from it, in fact— it’s a frequent theme for almost every main character.
Frederick’s Perception of himself changes when he actively tries to win over Gwen after witnessing her Kindness; not only rebelling against his overbearing father, but also relying on his brothers’ help for the first time in his life.
Blaine’s Perception of himself changes when his Father compares him to Frederick, to the point where the man almost had a villain arc (damn).
Aurelia’s Perception of herself changes when Gwen returns her necklace, that she went out of her way to mend, even though Aurelia almost got her banished from the club.
And it’s not just them either. All three of Gwen’s siblings, Maria, Lorena and Jamie all have their individual perceptions shattered, wether it be through loss of Ego, Ideals, or gain of an Expectation placed on them.
For example, Maria gets knocked down a significant amount of pegs when she confesses her troubles to Lieutenant Dandridge, who subsequently calls her a pig for her (admittedly) selfish behaviour.
Lorena’s Perception of herself changes when she asks Suzanna for advice and feels hopelessly underprepared for the very real consequences that come with sticking to her ideals of Offense before Defense.
Even Jamie panics when he realises that his Father expects him to run their military one day, when he doesn’t have a fighting bone in his body!
Sometimes the shattering of perceptions can be positive as well as negative; temporary as well as long-lasting. The point is that it changes the way that character thinks about themselves or the world around them, up until that point.
Now applying that same logic in Prez’s and Whitney’s story, it’s pretty easy to see how all the pieces start coming together. But for these two it’s a tiny bit different from the others because it happens not just once, but twice, in the course of this comic.
It’s fairly easy to pinpoint the moment in the backstory where both of their Perceptions of themselves shatter for the first time: the night of the Were-Spider Incident.
A brief summary for all of you who’ve forgotten Prez’s backstory: She was engaged to the Monochrome Prince, Whitney, but fell sick and began to lose the ability to see colour because she couldn’t express her true feelings about the marriage.
She met a nurse soon after, Asa, who helped her feel like herself again, but fell in love with her on the way. Whitney found out, tried to kill Asa, but ended up cursing Calpernia into a Were-Spider instead.
[If you thought Gwen and Fredrick’s story was all about not judging a book by its cover, this one takes that and amplifies it times 100 by having Whitney, “The Monster”, actually break away from being a byproduct of his extremely toxic environment and Calpernia, “The Good Girl”, literally lose her purpose in life, only to find it again in helping others.]
Whitney has a very on-the-nose Perception Shift, like Gwen, as his life literally flashes before his eyes when the Were-Spider nearly kills him, and there’s not one part of it that’s even the slightest bit happy.
Exhibit A:
(Honestly, with the way this is framed, I think he’d’ve been glad if Calpernia actually killed him at that point.)
This eventually spurs Whitney into reconsidering his life, nearly dying again by his brother’s hand, being saved by a monastery of male nurses; before finally embarking on the path to change and mend his very terrible and traumatised person.
Prez’s is a little more subtle though.
While the obvious answer would be to conclude that Prez’s Perceptions of herself shattered once she was banished from the polygon kingdom for her actions, I actually think that there is a more apt time, prior to this, where we really see that metaphorical glass break.
Exhibit B:
This. This is the moment.
It’s the first action that Prez takes after admitting to herself that she doesn’t want to continue living like this. This calls back heavily, and I mean heavily, to Frederick’s ENTIRE character arc. (His whole deal was breaking out of bad habits and old patterns that he’d shut himself into so he wouldn’t be hurt anymore.)
The first thing she does is sacrifice herself to protect someone she thinks is worth saving. The old Calpernia wouldn’t have done this. The old Calpernia would’ve just shut up and stood to the side like the obedient, diligent girl that she was so proud to be– but Prez was already tired of being her by then.
We can notice a few parallels here already:
For both Gwen and Calpernia, the immediate backlash is largely negative. Gwen has a violent, visceral reaction to Frederick’s comment, runs out of her palace, and passes out in the woods; while Prez, of course, turns into a Were-Spider and tries to kill everything within a five-mile radius. And then gets banished on top of all that.
But there’s still the promise of a hopeful future for these two. Gwen wakes up, is met with kindness and friendship and belonging, and Prez wakes up, finally free from the shackles of expectation that had been slowly killing her, now armed with the new dream to help others and create the CPC.
For Whitney and Frederick, it’s the opposite. While the immediate reaction is more positive; Frederick is (temporarily) braver and more open to noticing Gwen’s beauty, and Whitney seems like he’s on the right track to redemption— their futures look bleak in comparison.
Not only do we know that Whitney has no home and no one to return to, we similarly know that Frederick’s going to find out all the pain and trauma he caused Gwen at some point.
This is where things get interesting and before I start to point out more narrative coincidences, I’d like to stop and really examine what happens to certain characters when the way they view and value themselves shifts.
{Fast forward five years after the events of the backstory.}
Prez goes from being flawless, pampered and adored to forging her own path, no matter how messy, difficult and stressful it is– almost dying multiple times as she begins to recruit members into the newly formed CPC.
She deals with her new circumstances by throwing herself into every bit of ambition she can muster, and forgets to properly grieve what she lost, (as Curtis clearly points out during her confrontation with Whitney).
Meanwhile Whitney goes from behind an obnoxious, chauvinistic ass to a thoughtful, protective man-tiger-guy, clearly suffering from many, many forms of PTSD, and looking to make amends to everyone he’s hurt.
He deals with his circumstances through reflecting on his past and coming to terms with all of it; to the point where he no longer has any ambition at all and just seems to wander aimlessly from kingdom to kingdom in search of Calpernia.
As fate would have it, both Prez and Whitney separately end up becoming the First Friends and Mentors to the young and impressionable kids, Gwendolyn and Frederick respectively.
What’s intriguing here is that these two find themselves armed with the exact expertise to help one another, but this advice is passed onto Gwen and Freddie instead.
Let me explain.
Gwen is deeply unselfish, there’s a kindness in her unmatched by any, and as a consequence of this, forgets to care for herself. Prez has the perfect solution for this: Lean on those around you instead.
This advice would work wonders for Whitney too, who also forgets to care for himself, not out of immense care for others, but because he thinks he doesn't deserve to.
He refuses to integrate himself into society, preferring to eat basically raw meat, drink rain water, and sleep on the grass, because it’s not like anything is going to attack him anyway? He won’t even sleep in the tent he carries???
[If you think about it, the man had more privileges resting in the monastery with the male nurses— at the very least, he had a roof over his head and a blanket to sleep in.]
It’s clear that Whitney is deeply uncomfortable allowing basic comforts for himself; he undoubtedly carries a lot of guilt and shame regarding everything he’s done, at least to Calpernia and Asa, and can’t really bring himself to rely on others at all.
Exhibit C:
Remember Leopold’s famous line in Episode #74?: One can only accept love from others, to the degree that they allow it in themselves. (Another parallel between Gwen and Whitney).
Gwen just genuinely couldn’t accept anything from Frederick or from anyone really, until she actively let herself do so, once she felt safe enough.
Similarly Whitney physically won’t even allow himself to develop any feelings for Calpernia, and these repressed feelings exhibit themselves in the form of his curse flaring up every time he experiences a normal or healthy emotion, like affection, gratitude, or jealousy.
While he does seem to have accepted the acts he’s committed in the past and is willing to atone for them in whatever way possible– allowing someone else to take care of him (as he would’ve been accustomed to as a prince), is out of the question.
On the other hand, Frederick and especially Calpernia have a hard time dealing with their emotions— any emotions.
Frederick prefers to shut the feelings out by hiding from them and looking down on everyone and everything first. It takes Whitney oversharing his own experiences, gruesome as they may be, for him to understand the privileges he’s been afforded as a Plaid Prince, and that by shutting out the bad aspects of life, he’s shutting out the good ones too– like how much his family cares about him.
Whitney’s advice consists of the following: Pain is not a competition. The painful emotions you feel are valid, but you get to choose when you’re ready to heal from them.
This advice would definitely help Prez too, since she has a bad habit of undervaluing her more basic feelings if she feels like someone else is suffering more than she is.
This is clearly depicted during her confrontation with Whitney, where she’s about to hit him, but breaks down and ends up punching a cake before she can admit that life sucks and she hates her curse.
And this isn’t the first time she does this either. During her initial months of illness when she first meets Asa, she says this:
Calpernia is explicitly aware of the privilege provided to her, so much so that she doesn’t see value in complaining about issues that are otherwise minor in the grand scheme of things.
Though Prez has grown from this mentality by establishing the Cursed Princess Club (which encourages its members to express their emotions), she’s just internalised the concept instead, believing that she, specifically, does not have the time to deal with minor emotions when there’s princesses out there that she could be saving.
For the most part, the advice works. Gwen relies on her friends and family for self-worth and the cracks slowly begin to reduce; and Fredrick stops feeling sorry for himself and starts actually changing his circumstances.
Here’s where the second part of the theory comes into play. The perceptions of Prez and Whitney are shattered yet again, but not the ones they have of themselves— this time, it’s the ones Gwen and Frederick have of them.
Frederick goes from thinking Whitney is this weird but Mysterious monk with a magical cure for negative thinking, to finding out that the man’s an attempted murderer and understanding that he really shouldn’t be so quick to judge.
And though Gwen doesn’t say it about Prez, in so many words, it’s clear that she feels a similar way.
In the beginning of the story, Prez was depicted as this all-knowing Wise One™️, a person Gwen assumed had all the answers because she was an Adult and also because she never talked about her own problems.
Later on, during Nell’s Premonition arc, we come to realise that she’s about as informed as everyone else, but prefers to blindly act on things, because, in her opinion, doing something is better than waiting for something to happen to them. This eventually has her focus on all the wrong things and nearly gets Renée killed in the process.
When Prez reunites with Whitney, it is the very first time Gwen has seen her vulnerable.
i.e. Like This:
All the trauma she didn’t have time for suddenly resurfaces, and not only do we see her finally feel her feelings, we see how those feelings don’t suddenly disappear into the calm persona she’s maintained for so long, but instead breaks that facade to show the scared, angry girl she’s been pretending not to be.
And though we never see Gwen acknowledge it in words, it’s clear that this behaviour changes the way she sees Prez, because the next time these two have a talk, Gwen doesn’t really take her advice, or even want to.
The Second Shattering of Perceptions has once again resulted in two, extremely different reactions.
This time Fredrick is immediately wary when he learns of his Mentor's past, but changes his tune when he calls Whitney his friend during Gwen’s dinner to keep the CPC’s secret. And Whitney backs him up in front of his family, too. So we can infer that their relationship is going to be okay.
But it’s not the same for Prez and Gwen. Not only is Gwen not taking her advice; she’s actively not facing the truth because she believes Frederick loves her for who she is. Gwen is betraying her sense of self worth by not speaking to him about something that has plagued her since their very first meeting.
To top it all off, we don’t know whether or not Frederick thinks Gwen is cursed. Sure, he knows she’s part of the CPC and that the club is important to her, but we don’t know what he makes of her being there in the first place.
Now, onto the more predictive parts of the theory.
If Gwen finds out that Frederick thinks she’s cursed, it could shock and confuse her enough to tell him that she knows about what he said that fateful day they met. And this, in turn, will have a drastic impact on their relationship.
Although I do have few more predictions for where the story might go after this, I think it’s safe to assume that once Gwen and Frederick deal with their unresolved family drama in their own separate ways (from Lilyth’s diary to Leland’s blatant affection for Jack), they’re going to come back to one another, a little older, a little wiser, and give it another try.
This is where Whitney and Calpernia’s story comes into play for the last time.
The Advisors will now become the advisees, and instead of Frederick and Gwen asking for guidance, it’s likely that they’re going to be the ones giving it this time around.
Maybe not directly, not with those specific intentions in mind– but maybe they’ll end up reminding their mentors what they learned from them and each other, which will eventually spur the two into making their own decisions.
Currently, in the story, we have both Prez and Whitney facing problems they can’t immediately solve without making extreme changes to the way they’re currently living.
Calpernia is faced with a choice (multiple actually) of wether she should continue running the CPC in secret, or take Tori’s suggestion and start publicly advocating for their rights and making quantifiable changes. This requires her to choose between the comfortable life she’s lead for the past five years (the woods, CPC headquarters) and the busy, confusing life she might lead in the future (possibly travelling between Kingdoms as an official ambassador?).
Whitney’s problem is that he doesn’t trust himself not to hurt anyone anymore, like members of the CPC, especially Calpernia. He doesn’t understand that his curse flaring up is a result of repressed emotions and not some kind of omen that he needs to continue punishing himself and sleeping on grass for the rest of his life.
With the way things are going for them it almost feels like if Gwen and Frederick don’t interfere, Prez is going to put too much pressure on herself to do it all and Whitney is going to isolate himself from everyone and everything–– just like our main couple at the beginning of the comic.
Personally, I think it would bring the narrative arc to a satisfying conclusion if this indeed happens, and if it’s Frederick helping out Calpernia and Gwen saving Whitney from himself, instead of vice versa.
When Whitney first meets Frederick, the Plaid Prince had just spent half a day hauling a giant llama across state borders, on foot, to ask out a girl he was pretty sure was a witch, but was kind to him. Needless to say, Frederick’s mind is about as cluttered as Monica’s room, but luckily Whitney has the perfect solution for this.
It was Whitney’s Meditation that helped him separate his thoughts from his feelings, and ultimately helped him realise what he really wanted to do at that moment (i.e. to find Gwen).
Prez is struggling to separate her worries for Gwen and her struggles, from her own mixed feelings about Asa, and thoughts of wether or not she’s potentially coddling the CPC under the pretense of helping them, like Tori accused her of doing.
Frederick can share how, when he was just about to give up from the stress of it all, this simple trick, from Whitney, helped him prioritise what was most important to him at that moment. Meditation can keep her from pushing aside her emotions for later by laying them all out, and help Prez assign degrees of importance to her various problems, so she can figure out what she actually wants to do.
Similarly, I think it’s only fitting if Gwen is the one who finds Whitney and stops him from his self-imposed, chronic isolation.
When Gwen first confesses to Prez about her broken reflection, Prez explicitly tells her not to fixate on the shattered self-perception, because that would only lead her down a path of self-destruction.
Now, as in tune with his emotions as he is, it’s clear that Whitney is definitely headed down this particular rabbit hole.
Whitney believes he can’t help anyone after everything he’s done- especially not Prez, who, he’s spent the last five(ish?) years trying to find and apologise to.
The only healthy way he has of working through his problems is sitting down and thinking about them, but it’s hard to notice the positive aspects of yourself if you're the only one contributing to the discussion.
Whitney thinks he’s realised what’s wrong with his curse: obviously he’s someone who doesn’t deserve any form of love or comfort whatsoever or he’s at risk at turning back into an irredeemable monster– but he's wrong. Pulling away from Prez and the CPC is only going to hurt him more because it reinforces the idea that no matter how much he tries to change, he’s unfixable.
The poor guy hasn’t experienced a single positive emotion in his life, of course he’s not going to understand that leaning on others for emotional support when he doesn’t feel like himself, is a Good Thing.
[He probably only realised a major part of his old life stressful and toxic because the male nurses validated it, and since there wasn’t a single female nurse at the monastery, it’s understandable that healthy signs of affection was a topic that was never brought up.]
Gwen can help him by sharing how there were so many instances in her life where other people saw the beauty in her that she couldn't see in herself, from her family to Prez and the other members of CPC, to even a complete stranger like Leopold, and that just because it's hard for Whitney to see the goodness in himself, it doesn't mean that it's not there. It definitely doesn't mean that he's regressing back into the terrible person he used to be.
This would tie back in with the overarching themes of Self-Love in the story; not only is it in taking time to realise what is most important you, it's also relying on others when you feel at your lowest.
And it would finally make it clear why Whitney and Calpernia had to go through their individual struggles, making effort to change themselves and the people around them only to wind up helping each other, at the end of the day.
Cursed Princess Club is their tale just as much as it is Gwen's and Frederick's, and it's written so brilliantly that the characters go from archetypes to fully fleshed out people with their own personal victories, problems, and senses of self-worth.
The only problem I see with this theory, however, is that while it is heavily implied that Gwen and Frederick were always going to be endgame, that’s not really the case for Calpernia and Whitney.
While they were destined to reunite (by that one fortune cookie, we stan), their story was never really about romance, but a darker spin on the main themes of the story, and to highlight the morally grey aspects of the world it takes place in.
However, just because these ex-fiancés aren't really cut out for love, it doesn't mean they can't end up together.
But that's a theory for another day.
TLDR: GwenDerick is a Narrative Mirror to Prez/Whitney and therefore will help the latter Grow as people.

for season 2 of arcane I really hope Caitlyn gets to do something, to show off. We barely get to see her abilities in season 1. The only time I can think of (outside of her flashback) is when she makes Sevika back off of killing Vi without killing her. While this is impressive and shows off her skills and her character since she was shooting to incapacitate not kill, it’s not really showing off what Caitlyn can do as a champion compared to other characters.
Ekko, Vi, Jinx, Jayce, (maybe Warwick if you believe the hints, which I do) all get to show off their abilities and have awesome scenes. While you could argue, Viktor, Heimerdinger and Singed also didn’t get to show off, only Caitlyn is in the mix in Season 1. She’s also the only carry, but that’s besides the point. Viktor is likely going to be either a villain or at least antagonist to the story with Jayce. Heimerdinger while a powerful mage had the focus on his politics in the first season and now that he’s with Ekko it’s likely he’ll have a bigger role to play even if it isn’t in combat. Singed is a weird one because he doesn’t feel like the same character the most in Arcane compared with his LOL lore so that’s up in the air.
Caitlyn gets knocked out and kidnapped so many times in Arcane despite only having a real role in the story in ep 4. Maybe it’s because when I played years ago Caitlyn was one of my mains, but it sucks to see her being the damsel in distress or easily over powered when she is a champion too. Yeah, Vi got some of the beat downs without her gauntlets but at least she got to show off and be the main character/one of the main characters for the whole series. Caitlyn doesn’t get much of that, and I know it’s probably because she uses a gun and you can’t show her gunning people with the themes of the show, but it sucks to not have her be the damsel

My thoughts on Go! Princess Precure:
Ok, so finally finished go princes and i gotta talk about, so i'll try giving my thoughts and feelings on this season here. I tried to talk about it in the most coherent way but i'm not organized soooo...yeah, anyways: my thoughts under the cut
Um, I LOVED THIS SEASON OMG IT WAS SO GOOD. I'll be honest i wasn't feeling super strong feelings about during the first half, BUT the second half made me completely love it, they did so many things with the story and the characters that really surprised me.
Haruka was definetely my favorite character, again i didn't really had any strong feelings about her, but they really surprised me with her arc, especially after eps 38 and 39 is where she became my favorite.
These episodes served as a way to show another side of her (her dyspear and sadness), but also as a way to solidify her motivations and make her remember why she wanted to become a princess in the first place
"Who cares if you have your dream back? It'll only knock you down!" "Then let it!" HELLO??? I was screaming during this entire fight scene and this dialogue.
Now about minami, her arc was also really great, i was already kind of expecting something like that, but the build up to her realizing what her true dream was, was really well done, and it had a satisfying conclusion
Kirara's arc was also fantastic. I love how her episodes showcased her determination in protecting everyone's dreams, but at the same time showed her insecurities and fears over being a model, especially cuz she always showed herself as really confident.
Her final episodes did a great job at showing how she had found a new goal that she wanted to fullfill other than modeling: protecting people's dreams along with her new friends
Also i just like her laidback and friendly personality.
Now towa and kanata, um, they made me cry.
Ok so towa was already a character that i was more invested than anyone when she was first introduced, you know, since she was more involved in the main plot.
I really liked that they gave her an episode to interact with each one of the main girls (even yui). This helped their friendship feel more developed and genuine, also it was fun seeing her trying to fit in earth.
ALSO, another thing that helped to solidify their relationship is how towa understood that minami and kirara had some kind of problems and used the same advice that they both gave her, to help THEM instead, man, it really makes you see how much they care about each other.
Kanata was overall really cool as well, don't really have much to say about him but he's great. I cried when he cried at the end.
Now yui, if i didn't know beforehand, i would've thought that she was going to be the next cure. I love how, despite being a secondary character, she still is part of the group. Also she broke herself out of the cage of dispear and helped every other secondary character do the same so...yeah she's awesome.
The villains were super entartaining as well, i love that they all hated each other lmao.
Ok but, Shut was really funny, i liked that the show itself admitted that he was pretry incompetent as a villain, and they used this fact about him for his redemption (also he punched close in his face which YESSS).
Lock was a little rebel teenager, and i love that about him. I like that he and shut ended together in the end.
Close was definetely the highlight villain, i really wasn't expecting that he'd come back, but honestly i'm glad he did. His final fight with flora was EVERYTHING, and the fact that he just...leaves...on his own??? At first it can seem like an anticlimactic ending, but i worked to showcase the main message of the show: that yes, dreams can make you feel as much happiness and as much dispear, but what's important is to not let the negative feelings consume and prevent you from achieving pursuing them, and since close represents dispear, flora letting him go was definetely the best choice.
Some extra stuff: the mascots were fantastic, aroma is funny, pafu and kuroro are adorable, miss shamour is the best she's everything. The animation and the music were BEAUTIFUL. The side characters were ok for the most part. OH and the transformations and the costumes are fantastic.
Overall it was an AMAZING season, the story was beautiful, the characters were really well developed, it was just...beautiful yeah that's all.
#ok so it's finally finished#i'm thinking of maybe doing one of these for each of the seasons i finish#but i'm still not sure#idk let me know#if anyone wants to read this of course#this is not super organized it's mostly just me rambling

So let’s talk about the newest episode of WandVision there is of course a spoiler warning from this point on
First let’s talk about theories disproved
So the town is made up of the citizens of westview( as far as we know ) the fact the several citizens actors such as the milkman, mailman , and “norm” were shields of agents in previous movies is a conciedence
It’s looking like Anges is a regular citizen not Agatha Harkness, who in the comics was one of the original witches of Salem, a mentor of scarlet witch who was eventually killed by her when she went crazy and almost destroyed the multiverse, but as she was not one the citizens who was identified there is still a chance but we’ll have to wait and see
Okay so let’s talk about what still up in the air theory wise and what we do know thus far
Let’s talk about Mephisto
i still believe that this is how Marvel is choosing to introduce him since he plays an important part in wandas story arch in the comics ( for those who don’t know Wanda creates the twins using a bit of his power/soul and he arranges for them to be stolen by his minion Master pandemonium who uses them as Arms to try and regain Mephisto’s stolen power ( yes you read that right the 80s were wild)
I still believe that he is the one orchestrating everything behind the scenes but I have a new theory on who he is or at least one I have seen but I’m sure is out there cause let’s be honest I’m not that creative lol
I think during the aftermath of the snap Mephisto took advantage of the chaos to take the identity of Hayward the new leader of SWORD
Think about he could’ve seen that there was a chance to take power in the upcoming new agency and knowing marvel they might pull an ego, he might’ve had a had in hand in Maria’s death to make sure that he got control of SWORD and to have Monica have a personal investment in this fight
If we go with this theory that explains why he seems to have vendetta to make out Wanda as the villain and dangerous and why we didn’t see the “ footage “ of Wanda stealing visions body my guess is he is trying to alienate wanda from everyone else so she’ll have no where to turn
The reason I think this isn’t entirely wanda is because while in the comics Wanda is one of the most powerful mutants in the entire multi-verse thus far in the mcu she hasn’t shown that level of power and while I would LOVE if they gave Wanda the power and recognition she deserves I don’t think that’s going to happen given The writers treatment Of the marvel women so far and if given the chance they will make the all powerful villain who manipulating the poor defenseless female who couldn’t help but fall for his evil schemes * cue southern lady hand to forehead swoon*(oh I’m going to piss off some fanboys with that one lol) but really think about it Hollywood as a whole doesn’t like bestowing the mantle of most powerful on women or POC especially in action movies which , whether or not you want to admit it , as a genre is engineered to please cisgender straight white men but that’s a whole other debate and I’m already going off enough tangents as is
I don’t think that it was wanda who left the boundary or if it was I don’t think it was entirely of her own volition I think it was a tactic to further villify Wanda in the eyes of SWORD and cementing the distrust of her by them so Hayward can weaponize SWORD against Wanda and Vision
Expanding on that based on what We’ve seen so far from the eps and the previews it’s going to end up being a battle between SWORD/ Mesphisto who is manipulating everything and everyone to make it seem like it’s Wanda controling the town against Wanda and Vision, with the help of Darcy, agent Jimmy Woo, and Monica after they begin to realize what’s happening
Moving on to Wandas role
So I agree with Visions assement that while Wanda Wasn’t initially consciously aware of what was going on she “ woke up “ at some point is now actively manipulating her surroundings and while she doesn’t want to directly hurt anyone as evident by her protecting Monica while sending her flying through walls and the barrier which could’ve killed her but should’ve at least broken a several bones but she came out with out a scratch
We can see that she knows what she’s doing is wrong but the looks of guilt when confronted with what she is doing she is trying to make sure the citizens are living as normal as possible as seen when she mentions making sure they mow their lawns and make it to their dentist appts and she thinks by controling them she’s making it easier on them but she knows it’s wrong like for example when billy and tommy ask her to bring sparky back to life the look on her face when she tells them there are certain things you can’t mess with and Vision walking up right as she says that I’m guessing within the next couple of episodes she admit to herself that what is happening is wrong
The Twins
So far in the series we see that Billy and Tommy at least posses some of their mother’s power as seen as they can age up seemingly by will power
In the comics billy becomes Wiccan , who takes after his mother’s powers and tommy is speed who inherited his uncles super speed but we have yet to see if these powers will transfer into the show
Side note if they try and change wiccans or speeds sexualities which in the comics wiccan was canonically gay and in a long term relationship hulking, who he eventually married , and Speed who was bisexual and in a relationship with prodigy I will riot
I’m guessing that mephisto is going to take the twins leading to Wanda joining dr strange in his show traveling the multi-verse in trying to find them or some version of them since we can only assume that’s how they are introducing the introducing mutants to the mcu
Speaking of introducing mutants to the MCU
So at the very end of the episode they get a surprise visitor- quicksilver (which several ppl saw coming ) we see that the X-mans Quicksilver arrive at the door
While I am glad that they are reintroducing Quicksilver as his early death was my biggest problem with age of ultron, we will have to wait and see how this pans out in regards to the series as a whole
When we hear the knock we are being lead to assume same as vision that it is another diversion by Wanda which we’ve seen her do several times at this point she seems as confused as he is so I don’t think he’s appeared by her powers proven by the fact when he introduces himself as her brother she’s visibly thrown and understandably confused before hugging him
My guess is that Mephisto( who in the comics also has the power to manipulate reality tho not on the scale that scarlet witch does which is why he needs her) brought him in to distract Wanda and Vision from discovering the truth
Now we can only assume that because of his appearance that other X-men and ppl from that universe will make an appearance in the mcu but to what extent we can’t be sure yet it will largely depend on what actors agree to resign on to their contracts to continue playing their characters so we can assume that Wolverine will not be making an appearance as Hugh jackman has previously stated that he will not be reprising the role but with everyone else’s we will have to wait and see
Let me know what you guys think what you agree or disagree with, further theories etc
EDIT: I apologize it’s been almost a decade since I’ve read the series of comics feature the storyline that WandaVision were based off it was pointed to me by @Hapllucigenia123 that there were a few inaccuracies in my post
the guy with the baby arms was master pandemonium who while he was working under the direction of Mephisto is not him
the twins were made purely out of fractions of Mephistos soul in the comics and he arranged them for them to be kidnapped in order to regain the power he had lost
This doesn’t change my theories much since I don’t believe they are going to have master pandemonium appear in the series because he was a middle man and the writers are going to probably have a bigger villain name to help draw in more views.( also don’t think theyre going to have anyone use the twins as arms cause I don’t see it being taken seriously in this day and age but imagine the memes if they did lol but I will go back and fix the information when I can thank you again @hapllucigenia123 who can also be found in the comments if the tags don’t work

Pacific Rim: The Black raises questions
out of respect for @shmoo92, who I have been spamming for like half an hour, I’ve moved them here:
who the fuck thought walking across several thousand kilometres of Australian interior with tight synthetic clothing, shitty shoes, and no water carriage equipment was a good idea
the biggest lie of this whole in-Conn training concept are that an actual Marshal sat his arse down and narrated hundreds of hours of training script instead of doing a two-minute intro speech and then handing over to some nobody Education Officer
and also that there’s no Test of Objectives to pass before you can continue to the next lesson
totally realistic that there’s hundreds of lessons to be slogged through at eye-gouging pace tho
where did the seeds and agricultural supplies to set up the haven come from?
if they came from the base, how did everyone forget it was were there?
old mate cruises into camp with a backpack full of shit like “oh, I just found it out there (flapping a hand at the wide red yonder of Woop Woop) can’t remember where though, must not have been very interesting, no point going back”
random forager, you’re a dick
why the fuck would kaiju - who are focused on annihilating humans and terraforming the planet - want a dirtbowl detached from everything else, which is not even that close to the initial Breach
why do only random characters (esp. villains) have Australian accents
Why is there a Jaeger called ‘Striker Berseker’ holy damn that’s disrespectful to the original Striker and also contravenes the rules of not repeating Jaeger name components, who did this who is responsible
per the Drift footage of Herc’s last engagement, his co-pilot was a kickboxer?
or they’ve added kickboxing moves to the general Ranger cannon?
which yes, is in line with the idea of a collective Jaeger bushido, but seems to go against the logic of finding two pilots who fight the same way as a necessary element of compatibility
How advanced are the new Jaegers if they are physically capable of moving fast enough to make an effective knee block and also durable enough to balance the weight of a whole Jaeger (MEGATONNES) on one leg, like DAMN that’s some engineering, how long did that take
Atlas is a Mk-III but looks functionally the same as Striker (though the feet are different) so is this the baseline Australian Jaeger design?
Berserker also has Striker’s head profile (or seems to, without going through shot-by-shot analysis, which let’s be honest, I’m not going to do when I’m still mad about him being a Striker knock-off)
In the middle of nowhere, with vast distances to be crossed between towns, to say nothing of built-up facilities which would have sufficient fuel stores, how are these random Outback wanderers keeping their Bushmasters and haulers moving?
It’s really fucking wasteful to kill off all your dedicated security force and your only Jaeger technician, why the fuck didn’t you just get the people you know can pilot into the Conn and put a couple of that security force in there with them
really doubting your Mastermindness, bud
Who the hell are these other 73 people who tried solo-piloting
I find it hard to rationalise the PPDC throwing so many people into an action with like a 95% fatality rate
Why the hell is there a Jaeger training range in what seems to be the middle of central Australia?
Wouldn’t the average temperatures and restricted access to replacement parts and transport networks put MASSIVE mechanical strain on the Jaegers?
How long does it take to ship parts in? What methods do you even have - road, rail, air??
Yes, the isolation means there would be less worry about causing infrastructure or ecological damage, or misdirected weapons discharge, but it’s SO ISOLATED
Unless this is a land-only training range, and then cadets graduate from here to urban/complex operations, and then marine?
in which case, where are the other training ranges?
Since the series has an aversion to using actual fkn towns (oh my god, just say they lived in Canberra, that’s a valid place which happens to be the actual seat of gov’t, surrounded by nothing but sheep and grain farming, to put the massive expanse of a Jaeger complex), where exactly are all these cities (not towns, CITIES) supposed to be?
Unless Median is an artificial city which spread from the urban training range, the way residential areas grow from mines or defence sites?
They seem to be walking through the Pilbara region of Western Australia a lot, so are all these ranges in central and N-W Australia? Does that mean the marine range is in the vicinity of Broome?
Kinda makes sense, since it’s still lightly populated, and on the opposite side of the country to the actual kaiju threat, meaning cadets would have less stress about suddenly being thrown into IRL combat
it was explicitly stated that kaiju AREN’T called things like Widowmaker, as that’s intimidating as fuck for the Rangers who have to engage with them, so what dickhead named the kaiju in EP 1
you don’t have to call them Captain Fuzzyboots, but keep in mind that you’re sending these guys up against actual humans inside the drivesuit holy hell show some fkn forethought
The drivesuits in Atlas look a lot lighter on than traditional suits, so is these lightweight training kit, versus full-bore combat armour?
if the armour is stored inside the Conn and automatically fitted to whatever pilot steps in, how many sets are pre-loaded? (Breasts or not, height, build)
also no circuitry suits? How do these suits work then?
Plausible that suit tech has advanced since 2025 and that certain elements are now integrated, but interesting that new-frontier suit tech is retrofitted to a Mk-III trainer with no mention of adjustments or conversion alterations
#Pacific Rim: The Black#series: Pacific Rim#this show is not doing a lot to win me over#but I will be stealing several elements of the world it proposes#like varied levels of ranges#which is in line with actual military procedure#so that's cool#but honestly if you're not going to do things justice don't fkn touch them#this is like being a kid and agreeing to let someone join your game of make believe and then they destroy everything#by violating the basic premises of your world#I strongly dislike it

I think Toei tries to attract new fans with Adventure 2020, that's why they focus so much on the action and battle scenes. They will probably focus more on drama or relationships if they were directed to an old audience (for example: Tri). In itself, I think the characters are "fine" in Adventure 2020, but they look more flat, because we compare them with Adventrue 99. That said, I think writers have problems with a big group.
I think I figured out what is annoying me about the reboot. I dont mind all the action scenes (or lets be real the action eps), its just that every ep of them fighting just to fight seems pointless and fillerish. I liked the earlier eps with a bit foreshadowing like Tai being able to read the digicode and the angel feathers dropping and now we just have scooby doo villains every ep for no reason like the mamemon and seadramon. WHY. I was enjoying the group doing nothing but sitting down and eating fruit for like ONE minute before "oh noes children! New foes you must defeat who serve no purpose other than to let our art team show off our fight animation!"
I just want the kids to have an entire episode of them together TALKING not fighting. Digimon is not just about the battles. It's getting on my nerves, especially when the writers show how capable this reboot can be with awesome character development and interaction it portrayed earlier on.
Its weird. Even with the other Digimon shows like Fusion or Savers, they never had every frikkin minute of EVERY ep be a full out fight like the reboot has given us. I want these fights to MEAN something otherwise they're kinda boring.
Another pet peeve of mine, one that made me chuckle bc how silly it was at first but bow that they keep doing it, WHY DO THE CHILDREN ENDANGER THEMSELVES RIDING INTO BATTLE ON THEIR PARTNERS?!
Like there's a reason they didn't do that in 01. Ppl WILL and CAN get hurt. Look what happened to Tai in ep 24 and then MetalGreymon MCFREAKIN losing it. Then this more recent ep, Tai gets knocked into the ocean and almost drowns (gets eaten again) bc he's riding on Greymon again. MAH BOI, I love you but DID YOU LEARN NOTHING?!
like I'm so frustrated that the kids keep doing this, I feel like writing a CRACK fic where they meet up with the older versions of themselves from the original timeline and they get a full EARCHEWING of all the dos and donts of battletime warfare tactics and monster attacks.
If Toei wanted to pull in a new audience, it might be working, idk, but surely the audience members must be sort of bored by the same redundant fight scenes that have been going on the past few eps with no clear answers. The children dont speak much either other than to call each others names. Im ready for the next arc and a slower pace, Toei.

Something I've really enjoyed is how effortlelessly strong the show made the flag smasher supersoldiers. Like when dude in the end of ep 2 casually knocks over the telephone pole? We as the audience know that shit's heavy but to him it might as well be made out of paper. The Undisclosed Villain's lackeys are certainly intimidated, even if it doesn't stop them from mowing him down with a storm of bullets.
And that's what makes me nervous, y'all. What if that was a reminder that supersoldiers are tough, sure, but they bleed the same if you shoot them enough times. Supersoldiers can die.
Like, I know you're not going to kill off a character if his name's in the title of the show. But. I'm just saying. Disney likes to do this stuff man. And now I've gone and made myself nervous.

My Ranking of Every Hercule Flambeau Episode (S01-S08)
There are some spoilers for S7 and S8, but they are fairly vague and pretty much the sort of thing that you might see on the official press release. So not true spoilers as such. Also this is totally subjective and the result of my own personal biases. It’s also behind the cut because it’s looooonnng.
8. The Two Deaths of Hercule Flambeau (s06e10)--
So, this episode is *fine*. It’s hardly the worst episode of the show, but it’s easily the weakest of the Flamby eps, despite their being a few isolated moments I enjoy. (Hercule getting a long overdue bedroom scene for one :P)
My main gripe is with this episode is the uneven way Lisandra Flambeau is written. The script seems to flip-flop over whether we are supposed to find her sympathetic or not. On one hand, many scenes imply that she genuinely loves Hercule despite them having a shotgun marriage after only a few days of knowing each other. On the other hand, she does not hesitate for a minute before poisoning an innocent (Fr. B) for no other reason than to hurt Flamby, which makes her lose a lot of sympathy points.
And as a result, it seems to make Flambeau seem like more of arse than normal for betraying her, while somehow also absolving him of responsibility for doing so, because she turns around and does *THAT.*
And ngl, it does make me a little uncomfortable that while the character of Lisandra (as an Italian) is possibly not meant to be interpreted as a POC, the actress portraying her definitely is. (Sara Martins is of Afro-Portuguese descent). Which makes the uneven characterization (and underwritten-ness) seem even more glaring, especially when compared to that of the other (white) women in Flambeau’s life (his first love Rebecca and his daughter Marianne, arguably Lady Felicia as well). It just leaves a bad taste in my mouth even if in all likelihood, the part wasn’t written with Sara Martins in mind.
I think a much more interesting approach to Lisandra would be to have intending to betray Flambeau all along. Maybe she had her own agenda for seducing Flamby, meanwhile he thinks he’s the one using her for his plan. Maybe she does develop some feelings for him along the way, but it only makes her hesitate for a moment before going ahead with her original plan. That way, she keeps her agency and isn’t reduced to the “woman scorned” stereotype while also leaving the writers free to ship Flamby with others in the future without seemingly endorsing guilt-free adultery .
Other random note: I can’t take parts of this episode seriously because the “Crown of Lombardy” is very obviously Guinevere’s crown from BBC Merlin with no attempt to alter or disguise it.
7. The Daughter of Autolycus (s04e05)--
Not gonna lie, I am not really a fan of “character has long lost relative that we’ve never heard of until now” plots. And that goes double when said long-lost relative is a child or sibling. As such my low ranking of this episode is partly due to unconscious personal biases against that trope.
That being said, if we had to get a long-lost relative that we’ve never heard of until now plot, I’m so glad we got Marianne--even if it takes her another episode to really live up to her potential.
I have to knock off a few more points for Nero Hound as a villain. For one thing, he was played by Nancy Carroll’s real-life hubby, but they didn’t let let him interact with Lady F at all. Such a *waste.* Also Nero Hound is far too similar a name to Nero Wolfe, and I’ve definitely confused them on more than one occasion). He’s also rather generic in my opinion, even compared to some of Flambeau’s other “generic mobster” rivals/associates like the ones in S8.
However, there are some moments in this episode I genuinely like--particularly the theft “imagine spot” and Flambeau’s bishop disguise in general. Plus, the scenes where Flambeau and Marianne appear together are excellent, as are the hints that Marianne will become a redemptive trigger in Flambeau’s life.
6. The Judgement of Man (s03e10)--
Again, the low ranking of this one may be due to personal biases. In this case, I’m still low-key bitter--five years later-- at the BBC marketing department for baiting me with the idea of Flambeau actually interacting with the rest of the squad (esp romantic tiems with Lady F) and then giving me the absolute minimum of Felicia/Flambeau flirting and no Flambeau/Sid and Flambeau/Mrs. M interaction.
But there are other reasons why this is in my bottom 3 Flambeau episodes.
Honestly, I feel like an equally compelling episode about the Vatican’s complicity in Nazi art theft could’ve been made without having to insert Flambeau in it. I mean I suppose it does make sense to have the art thief character in the art episode, but still I feel like both Flambeau backstory and important historical lesson about Nazis, the Church, and Jewish art suffer from being crammed into the same episode.
That being said, Mrs. McCarthy’s duchess disguise in this episode cleared my skin, watered my crops, etc, which is why I’ve ranked it higher than the previous two.
5. The Folly of Jephthah (s08e05)
It loses a few points because I got very exited about the idea of Marianne becoming Bunty’s thief gf cool new friend, and yet in the episode itself, they only shared one scene and didn’t really interact much in it. That being said, I did like like that Bunty and Mrs. M had a bigger role in this episode than the squad usually gets in Flambeau episodes.
Overall, I feel this episode works a lot better than most of the other “backstory-heavy” Flambeau episodes, because we’ve already gotten the Marianne-related exposition out of the way and can focus more on allowing her character, Flambeau’s and their relationship with each other to develop.
I’m also a bit smug in that I predicted (or at least hoped for) this exact character arc for Marianne within a few weeks of “The Daughter of Autocylus” airing and that my hopes came to fruition so beautifully.
It doesn’t particularly impact the ranking too much, but I do feel like this episode deserves a special shout out, because it has established a (hopefully-continuing!) pattern of Father Brown calling Flamby almost exclusively by his first name, which is a major significant step in their bromance and deserves recognition as such.
4. The Blue Cross (s01e10)--
As someone who was first exposed to Father Brown through reading the stories for a college course, I always find it especially interesting to look at the episodes that were adapted from Chesterton.
This episode is neither the most faithful book-to-show adaptation (which is probably “The Three Tools of Death”) nor is it the best (imo “The Sign of the Broken Sword’) , but it is arguably the most significant. “The Blue Cross” was the first ever Fr. Brown story and is probably the most well-known. It’s also the first real look we get at the character of Flambeau, who (in the stories and arguably the show as well) is probably the closest thing we get to a clear character arc.
The show keeps some of the important elements of the short story: Flambeau’s clergyman disguise, the switching of the packages. But it also has the challenging task of upping the relatively low stakes of the story, as well as introducing a major recurring character that resembles his book counterpart but remains distinct enough to justify the fairly different direction show canon is taking him.
The show does this reasonably well--if not particularly imaginatively. I do enjoy some of the touches (I’ve written an entire meta before about Flamby’s reading material on the train and how it relates to his character)--particularly the show’s choice to have Flambeau fixated on religious art specifically (RIP for Flambeau’s Dairy Company though. It will always live in my heart).
Unfortunately in the adaptation, loses a few points for not really using the show-original characters particularly effectively. It loses still more for Flambeau’s characterization in this episode . He comes across as much more serious and menacing in this episode than in all the others. It works okay when we consider this as a standalone episode but provides some glaring Early Installment Weirdness when we compare it to other episodes.
3. The Penitent Man (s05e15)--
So as the rest of this list will testify, I have strong preference for the “fun” Flambeau episodes over the more series ones. This is the exception that proves the rule--the serious, cerebral, melancholy episode that simply “works” for me in the way that some of the others have not.
A lot of it is due to the more-intense-than-usual Flambeau character focus that goes into this. Sure, we’ve met his (presumably ex-by-now) wife, his daughter, and his first love by this point, but all of those episodes focused primarily on Flambeau as an extension of the relationships with others. (”The Judgement of Man” in particular is far more Rebecca’s story than Hercule’s.)
Whereas this episode is very definitively focused on Flambeau himself and allows more nuanced exploration of two of the most defining facets of Flambeau’s character: (1) his fascination with religion--and spiritual salvation in particular-- as something he seems to resist and crave in near equal measure (2) his almost masochistic streak of recklessness.
Even though Flambeau’s supposed “piety” is revealed to be all part of his heist plan, there are strong hints that his desire for redemption and atonement are at least somewhat genuine, even if he is not ready to pursue them just yet.
Off topic, but a few random things of note in this episode: this episode all-but-confirms bi!Flambeau, wet!Flambeau at the end is extremely relevant to my interests, Father Brown attempts to smuggle Flamby a lock pick from the beginning and has the audacity to say “ I only use it when I get locked out of the presbytery.”
Also, it has this iconic exchange:
Goodfellow: What is that awful smell?
Father Brown (covered in sewage): It’s me
2. The Honorable Thief (S07e10)-- So nearly all of the Flambeau-centered episodes from S3 on have been a little preoccupied with filling in some of the gaps in Flambeau’s backstory, which is *fine*, but honestly, I feel like in doing so, they’ve really lost sight of why we fell in love with the character in the first place.
He’s vibrant and clever and funny and over-the-top. But most importantly, Flambeau is a lot of fun. Therefore, it follows that episodes that feature him should be a lot of fun too.
And well... they are all fun in some way, but they aren’t as fun as they really could be. John Light is insanely charismatic, but charisma can only go so far when the episode in question is a downer.
Fortunately, this episode is the furthest thing from a downer imaginable. It’s absolutely delightful from start to finish. The plot is serious enough to keep things engaging, but also light enough to keep us from getting too distracted by angst.
I’m also incredibly biased in favor of this episode, because it finally gave me the Felicia/Flambeau ship tease I’d been passionately hoping for (if not really expecting to get after “The Judgement of Man” disappointed me). But it was so much and so good, and I wasn’t ready for it.
In a broader sense though, this episode really delivered with Flambeau/squad interaction in general--which was a key component that has been missing from most of the other episodes. And the Father Brown & Flambeau interactions were also has heartwarming and funny as they always are.
If I have one tiny little gripe with the episode, it’s that Daniel is not Sid. He has enough broad similarities with Sid that I can’t help but wonder if the episode was originally written with Sid and then hastily re-written when Alex Price couldn’t return. That being said, he was a likable enough guest character in his own right, and I wouldn’t mind seeing him again.
1. The Mysteries of the Rosary (S02e05)-- Perfection. Not only is this THE definitive Flambeau episode, but is also one of the best episodes of the show overall. It has everything: the birth of bearded Flamby, bromantic road trips, a treasure hunt, great guest turns from Anton Lesser and Sylvestra Le Touzel.
I think part of the reason this episode resonates so strongly with me is that it’s really the first proper sense that we get of Show!Flambeau as a character. Sure we officially met him in “The Blue Cross,” but considering he didn’t show up until halfway through the episode and was in disguise for most of it, we didn’t really get much of a sense of who he is.
This episode changes all that and sets Flambeau up as the character we will know and love for the rest of the series--charming, urbane, funny, passionate, a carefree carpe diem exterior masking (or overcompensating for?) a sense of uncertainty and conflictedness.
Somewhat off topic, but as great an episode as this is for Flambeau’s character, it is nearly as wonderful for both Sid and Father Brown’s characters. We get to see Sid’s ease with Father Brown, the casual camraderie that the two of them have--as well as Sid’s protectiveness (and jealousy) when Flambeau decides to gatecrash their bromantic road trip.
Honestly, there are so many things that are great about this episode that I don’t think I could possibly list them--but one little detail that really struck my the last time I watched was that the first proper glimpse we see of Flambeau in this episode (we see him in shadow in a flashback before) involves him saving Father Brown’s life. Whereas the last proper glimpse we see of Flambeau is after Father Brown has saved Flambeau’s life. Thematic reversals. Cinematic parallels. We love to see it.

Everything to love about Far From Home not in this order:
Literally seeing that opening with all our loved avengers that are no more.
Whitney Houston “I will always love you” made me cry because damnit Tony’s face was right THERE! NOT OK!
The blip footage was pretty damn funny not gonna lie.
Peter’s cute ass plan to tell MJ how he feels.
MJ’s favorite flower being a Black Dalia because of the murder. Literally a girl I can relate too. Murderinos for life sister. Idk but it just made her sooo relatable!
The fact that Brad is a kid grown up from the blip and that made him seem all the weirder for MJ.
Jealous Peter was so freaking amazing! Oh my gosh! That face he’d get. I’m a sucker for jealousy and they did it so good.
Making MJ this awesome character she was before but also obviously has this softer layer where she does have flaws and insecurities and she’s really sweet but also so badass. That was amazing.
The starting relationship between Peter and Beck. It was cute and so I was sad knowing that Beck was somehow going to be the villain.
Also let’s talk about how Beck is basically Syndrom from the incredibles.
That scene with Peter and Brad....the pure terror when he snapped that picture
Also seeing how big of a dick Brad is and how unhealthy jealous he was.
“Nick Fury” getting ghosted, showing up in Venice, tranquilising Ned (don’t touch him you monster) and then promptly highjacking Peters Summer trip.
Showing the emotional trama Peter is going through. The anxiety, the greiving. It was very reminiscent of Iron Man 3 when Tony suffers from PTSD after the battle of New York. I loved that they showed Peter reacting as any kid would, many adults too, which is to just try and forget anything happened but being faced with the reality every day. So well done.
Happy and May’s relationship. Enough said 😂😂
I feel cheated we didn’t see Mr delmore again.
Addressing all the problems the Blip/Snap created. High school aging, school, drinking ages, homelessness and housing issues. That’s just the start of it I’m sure but they covered those pretty well and I love that.
The technology that made Beck into Misterio was so well done. Instead of some frankly, kinda far fetched story that he came from an alternate earth (which I was willing to believe but felt it was a cop out in terms of plot and character) they showed the real world issues that superhero’s can create. The Enemies that have a real deep rooted hatred for hero because they’ve personally been betrayed or wronged by them. Because marvel has always made clear, everyone is not on the hero’s side.
Steeping Misterio’s powers in tech which is classing marvel but again, so brilliantly done in this movie. I loved the development. Because at first glance, half way through, I was thinking “wow this is really kinda weird and unexplained and too witchcraft for what marvel usually brings to the superpower backstory” I know it’s weird to say after everything marvel has done. But it seemed just a tad out there without being too hard to grasp. Which again was brilliantly done because that was the whole point.
The nod to Misterio’s helmet even when Beck was in the hologram suit watching everything play out. I guess it was his screen? But I loved the staple of even without his big over the top suit he still had the trademark helmet. Great costume design.
Peter’s soft gazes towards MJ. Nearly gave me a cavity they were so sweet! Ahhh sooo cute
Mr. Harrington’s marital problems nearly made me pee my pants....we all knew here in the fandom that shit like that would half to happen but my god lol
The opera scene was sooo freakin cute and that one step Peter took when he saw Brad move in was so freaking cute and hot!
MJ running after him and finding the critical peice of information to crack the case wide open. Loved it.
Betty and Ned’s Sicily sweet romance that you knew couldn’t possibly last. They really nailed the realistic high school romance. But I still ship it.
The bus scene was epic. And when Peter knocked Flash out...god it was amazing.
Mj obviously having love eyes towards Peter same as he does for her.
THE FACT THAT HE ACTUALLY BOUGHT THAT NECKLACE FOR HER OH MY GOD! I CANT GET A GUY TO TEXT ME BACJ LET ALONE BUY A NECKLACE LIKE THAT WHICH PROBABALY COST A GOOD CHUNK OF CHANGE IT WAS SO FREAKING AMAZING AND CUTE AND TOUCHING.
All the iron man images got me feeling depressed as hell
“are you being serious because I was only like 67% sure?” That was amazing. Seeing MJ get so excited and trying to keep that hidden was awesome
The fact that she was so pleased with herself but also played it hella cool when Ned walked in and she said she figured it out. Literally that is me.
The shirtless Peter trope that we all wanted and freaking got! So freaking cute how she tried to peak at his abs. Like understandable girl.
The fucking illusions. Turning our sweet trusting Peter into a ball of mess. I was too.
God when he had to tell himself it wasn’t real but it still totally feels like it is.
Him trying to save MJ when she’s “thrown off the Eiffel Tower”
Every traumatizing thing Beck shows and tells him during the illusion. So shitty.
Seeing Tony’s grave, seeing iron man come out. That was awful and we all felt it in the movie because we’ve lost him too. We could FEEL that slap same as Peter.
Beck telling Peter that Tony’s death was his fault. I was abouta hurl myself at the movie screen.
Every illusion done in a way that just when you think it’s over, it’s never stopped. You forget what’s real and you feel trapped in it same as Peter does.
WHEN HE GETS HIT BY THE TRAIN!!!!!!!!!! Nearly had a damn heart attack!!!! My mom had to look over and ask if I was ok because I literally stopped breathing for a solid 30 seconds.
Showing gradually just how insane and evil Misterio was.
HAPPY BEING CONCERNED FOR PETER! LIKE SINCERELY AND HONESTLY CONCERNED! It’s good to know he’s got Happy to take care of him and May but that Peter still has a father type figure he can count on after Tony. Because you know Tony wouldn’t have put up with any of that getting hit by a train shit.
Also where the hell was Karen? We missed her. We got Edith but Karen wouldn’t have let Misterio take her over. WHERE WAS KAREN!!
Peter crying and needing to know Happy was real. Broke me heart
That hug between them was so sweet and you can see the concern on Happy’s face
Happy and Peter opening up to each other was so awesome considering their relationship in Homecoming.
ALL THE TONY and PETER PARRELLS! All of them!!!!!!!!! Not the people saying “Spider-Man’s the next Ironman” no the actual hints and glimpses at how similar him and tony actually are. The hologram gauntlet shot, a straight parallel to Iron Man when Tony is building his first real suit. Obviously “Back in Black” by Led Zeplen (formally known as AC/DC) playing. Another obvious hint toward Tony. The Stark sunglasses. Peter falling with the parachute and it literally looks like Ironman with his jet stream behind him from a distance. There’s so much more I’ll do a whole other post on.
Of course: “I love Led Zeplin!” Hahaha it’s such a kid thing to say! I’ve said it before I knew the big differences between AC/DC and Led Zeplin. It was so freaking perfect.
Peter making his suit and Happy’s face. Bittersweet and I live for the affection he holds for Peter now.
The Netherlands Holding cell...must I say more?
Brad’s downfall and MJs amazing comment about him taking pictures of people in the bathroom. Ep-ic. Even flash was like “bro that’s so weird”
Mr. witchcraft was hilarious and I loved his aside with Brad “I’m gonna be the cool teacher and tell you you can’t do that anymore.”
Flash is definately Gay or Bi and I’m so here for it. That wink he makes to Peter proves it.
All the near death truths in the vault of the tower.
MJ BADDASS COMES SWINGING WITH THE MACE AND IT WAS LEGINDARY OH MY GOD! YES GIRL! She’s my idol I love her so much.
Peter and his “Peter Tingle” And while we’re on the subject the banana he gets to the face while packing.
Important. His amazing skills at the end trusting his instincts (which is great because May says in regards to MJ, but it applies to this too) May tells Peter to trust his instincts and don’t think too much. And that’s what he does when he defeats Beck.
The bad ass “you can’t fool me anymore” after redirecting the gun away from his head at the end. Literally was so intense and well done.
Peter and MJ’s kisses! I loved how awkward it was at first and the slightly less awkward one. They really accurately captured the awkwardness of teenagers in love. Like that’s what it’s like guys.
Show me MJ’s parents you cowards, or show me something. Anything. I just want to know the nature of the situation.
Ned and Betty’s breakup. So funny and honestly not surprising at all. But still I ship them.
The hand hold. So cute.
May and Peter still being the cutest aunt and nephew duo there ever was.
I totally thought Peter was going to end with telling the world he was spiderman....BUT SOME OTHER ASSHOLES DID IT FOR HIM AND MADE HIM INTO A VILLAN AND IM PISSED. LOOKING AT YOU MR JAMESON YOU PEICE OF SHIT.
The movie ended and I have no idea what’s next.
Mid credit of MJ swinging through New York. Home girl doesn’t like and neither do I. Looks full on terrifying we don’t blame you hun.
After credit where the skrulls have been playing Maria and Nick fury for the whole movie. Honestly it made more sense because Nick fury seemed just a bit off. ALSO WHERE IS THE REAL NICK FURY at and I’m so psyched to see where this new movies are gonna go!
Alright that all for now folks!!!! Everything about the movie was great!!! I will have to watch again ad see if anything more pops up. Sorry for any spelling errors I’m on my phone.

SPN Season 15 Spoiler Sheet, update 10/3
Lots and lots of updates abound. I took out some old general stuff because this monster is huge (but it will only get shorter, sniff sniff) Spoilery goodness under the cut.
DISCLAIMER: This is gathered info from various sources. This is not confirmed information. Stuff in this WILL be wrong. Don’t take this too seriously. This is for fun. Also, if you use this info for another publication, please let me know as a courtesy. Don’t be a dick. It's all out there, but it hurts to see my same phrasing on other publications after all the work I’ve done to consolidate it…
General Info (oldest to newest). This is a blend of pre-COVID and post COVID, so some might change.
In an interview, Kripe indicated that the series ending would have “peace” for Sam and Dean
Misha will be in 15 out of 20 episodes this season (he’s missed 3 so far and I suspect will miss 14. Unclear about 16, 19, and 20).
Dean and Amara’s connection will be explored
JaxCon/Vegas Con spoilers:
Misha said the ending was “happier than he expected” but also had some sadness. He later used “sad and redemptive”
Misha mentioned that Claire will be mentioned on the show, but as of yet not appear.
Dean says the line stop killing my people” (to god?)
Jensen said he doesn’t see how the story could continue past this season, but Jared said its more of “a see you later”
Al Cal posted a pic of a “thrown away” call sheet that seem to indicate Micheal, Lucifer, and a character named “Betty” interacting in the bunker. Unclear as to the validity, could be from 19 based on casting
Charlie (original flavor) will return
Filming resumed on Aug 18th. Per Canadian policy, they must quarantine for two weeks. Those quarantining seemed to include:
Fairly Clear: Jared, Jensen, Jake Abel (Micheal), Rob Benedict (Chuck/God) Mark Pelligrino (Lucifer), Al Cal (didn't need to quarantine, but he is definitely on set), Jim Beaver (Bobby)
Unclear/Rumored: Misha (he is being deliberately cagey), Osric Chau (Kevin- but likely for another project, he was a week ahead of everyone else)
Reasons Unlikely: Sam Smith (chemo treatment), Kim Rhodes (working at a camp during quarantine), Ruth Connell (posted from Malibu the entire time)
No idea: Shoshannah Stern
Jensen said sp 19 is more of a season finale, while 20 is a series finale. Repeated in interviews/livestreams.
Megan Fitz. complimented both Dabb’s and Glynn’s writing on twitter. Not sure if it is in reference to rewrites or the special retrospective that is planned.
Jensen indicated that the ending did change per COVID protocols. Later interviews (Variety) confirmed this, but it seemed to indicate the changes were in regards to how many people filmed at once (crowd scenes, recurring characters returning)
Misha is being very, very cagey about where he was. Some live streams seem to indicate he is not at home, but he has yet to confirm- his presence in 19/20 is hard to track. In an interview with Metaverse, he was in bed in a hotel looking space and you could see mountains in the background. He was not on set for the first week of filming, so he could be a week behind.
Misha has thrown around the words “final” and “what he <Misha> would have wanted” per Cas’ ending. “Sad/Proud” and “poignant” were also used. His latest line is “sad but satisfying”
The final episodes will premier October 8th. The finale will air Nov 19th in conjunction with an hour long special.
Dabb confirmed to TV line the episode 19/20 explanation Jensen’s mentioned- For the most part, we wrap up a big chunk of our mythology in Episode 19,Episode 20 is more character-based and is more concerned with Sam, Dean and this family they’ve built around them than it is with figuring out the Case of the Week.
When talking about the lightheartedness of returning on ep 14, Dabb said deeply depressing and upsetting episodes are coming (USAToday). He also said we would see “new sides” of Jack, Cas, and Billie. A revisit of Chuck and Amara’s “sibling issues” as well is on tap. Jared said sacrifices are coming.
From TV Line- re the battle with Chuck. Allies will return, buit was repeated several times in the article that is comes down to Sam and Dean. Jack will struggle with getting his soul back but will be helped by Cas.
It was confirmed there will be no appearances by mamma and papa Winchester, possible due to COVID. (TVLine)

This is the flashback ep
From TVLine- “It worked not only as a case right now, but also as something that informed the journey Sam and Dean have taken, where they started as kids, how they kind of came together and then how that has [led up] to the point that they are, emotionally, when the episode airs. So it ended up being a really good reflection of our guys now, telling a story about our guys then, which, to me, are always the best versions of those types of flashback stories.”

An really emotional scene was filmed with Misha and Jensen. Jared was definitely not there, but Alex was on the flight they took with Rich, so its possible he was too. This was revealed at a con in which the four of them were on a plane that had an in-flight problem.
Filming watchers saw a bro hug
Tape Ball posted a shot of field that looks like where dean came back from hell
Misha indicated this was his “favorite episode” in a recent interview

Guest stars: Jake Abel (Micheal), Mark Pelligrino (Lucifer)
Other Spoilers/info:
Production shut down as a precaution for coronavirus on 3/13, two days into filming. It is scheduled to start again on Aug 18th.
Jensen indicated there might be some re-writes for this ep to account for COVID protocols.
When they started filming, they indicated they were on day two. So maybe they could only use some of the scenes they shot? Then they added an extra day all called it day 9. COVID protocols makes things take longer
AlCal was definitely on set.
Jake Abel is definitely on set, and he posted an instagram story with his trailer and Lucifer’s (Mark Pelligrino)
Some filming was done at a gas station called Showalter’s (name of the director) with Jared, Jensen, and Alex
Jake “Spoiler King” Abel filmed a video showing chairs for Jared, Jensen, and Alex as well as Rob Benedict (Chuck/God). They were filming near a lake with a mountain view (that looked similar to where Cas died in season 13)
Rob Benedict posted it was his last day in Vancouver, indicating we won't see Chuck past this episode? Or very very briefly in 20? Jake Abel posted a similar message, also baiting fans about Misha’s whereabouts
Scene “28” took several days and seemed to go across both 19 and 20? So they might have done some combo filming?
Episode 15x20
Title: Carry On

Sneak Peak:
Castiel ? maaaaybe? Jack ? maaaaybe?
Guest stars: Jim Beaver
Other Spoilers/info:
Jensen indicated filming would take two weeks, longer than usual (looks like a 9 day shoot, with a day off for Labor Day)
According to Superwiki, 9/3 was the last day on the bunker set, the final days are on location.
Scene “28” took several days and seemed to go across both 19 and 20? So they might have done some combo filming?
Filming locations seemed to include a barn (pic with a stunt guy showed wooden walls and straw) and a lake (not the mountain lake from 19), and a forest. Filming signs spotted at Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve.
Jim Beaver confirmed his appearance on Twitter
There was a pic of J2 with baby on a bridge. Baby had her original plates. They seem to be wearing the same clothes they were in the pilot. There may be grey (??) In their hair, but that could be lighting
Misha posted some creation videos, saying he had been on an impromptu camping trip. He was back in his house. They were posted on the last day of filming and he had pretty decent scruff. He also mentioned that it was the last day of filming and he wasn't up there.
The show officially wrapped at 6:25 on 9/10
Jared said “the last time Sam and Dean see each other is the last time Jared and Jensen film together” but seem to imply that was not the final scene? It was a confusing answer to a question about filming the final scene.
IMDB credits a vampire?

Earthbreaker - Re-Review#27
Here we go, the start of Series 2!
This is another machine that looks a little bit like the Sidewinder (TOS). Hmmm, I can see why the episode is called Earthbreaker though. I mean, look at the earth. Big clues there.
“We’ve got ourselves another gold rush.”
“Except it’ts scandium ore, not gold.”
“Ten times as valuable though. Ker-ching.”
Nothing like it, ey, money makes the world go around! And where there are money making opportunities, you can expect to find The Hood! Except, oh yeah, the part where he was like caught and put in a GDF prison at the end of the last series.
Oh well, no bad guys. Unless of course, you can find an accomplice of The Hood to fill the gap!
So this looks a little like our new villain! But we’ll get to him a bit later, folks. For now, let’s put our attention on our main family here.
“Let’s go in strong. Three ships at least.”
Oh really? Scott will never agree to that Kayo.
“Agreed.”
Okay... they clearly resolved their differences in the break.
“Virgil, Kayo, get ready to fly.”
“Anything Alan and I can do?”
Look at Gordon itching to get out and in on the action.”
“Just hold down the fort.”
“We could build one right here out of sofa cushions.”
Those faces there say it all, Alan! They are like *speechless*, *don’t know how to respond*, *oh Alan*, and *what on earth did you just say?* faces. I love it!
“Or not.”
Yeah, or not.
EOS is back! EOS is back, this is a big thing everyone - and google images doesn’t have like a single shot of her from this ep. Literally I searched for ages and there is nothing. I gave up because I couldn’t be bothered to keep on searching. I think I got to page 12...
“EOS, this looks like a life reading. Can you get a more detailed scan?”
“Of course, John.”
“Woah.”
“It appears to be the driver.”
“Yeah. He doesn’t look very friendly either.”
“I’m five minutes out. Where are the GDF?”
“On approach now.”
Yes, because they fared so well even with their “weapons clearance”.
Anyhow, don’t worry, because International Rescue have arrived to save the day!
“Colonel Casey?”
“Stay back, Thunderbird One. We’re still accessing the situation. That’s an order, Scott.”
“FAB. Standing by.”
Grandma strikes right again too - definitely be more interested in who is driving it. He’s dangerous and he’ll be back.
“Do we take that as a yes?”
In my opinion Virgil, never take silence as a yes. This is what happens as well so it seems.
“I told you to stay away.”
“Who are you?”
“I am The Mechanic. and if you’re Thunderbird comes any closer, I’ll break it as well.”
And now we have a name. Still, we’ll discuss him later, let’s continue with the story for now.
“This is my ship and I say not a chance.”
Got to love that giant green determination.
Thunderbird Two makes it back safely! That’s a testament to the pilot really. In both TAG and TOS we get displays of Virgil’s calm and skill. In TOS, Thunderbird Two crash landed at Tracy Island in ‘Terror in New York’ after being shot at by the US Navy’s new Sentinel... Oopps. In TAG, it’s a case of mechanical sabotage (add in a little stubborn will). In both cases though, the issues are similar - rear damage to the engines and the possibility of fire or cut outs.
In TOS, Scott is encouraging Virgil to make it a little further to the Island. In TAG however, Scott is the one who almost orders for Virgil to
“The landing will be way too risky, Virgil, you need to ditch her in the ocean.”
Now, my theory on this is that in TOS the boys still had their father, and were a bit older than they are in this series (not too much, but enough). In TAG, they have lost Jeff and so I think it makes sense that they have more understanding of their own mortality and less super human thinking (or visuals for us anyhow). In TAG, their also seems to be more thought into keeping the original Thunderbirds as in tact as they can - upgrades and modifications, yes, but as original as possible. Where as in TOS there’s less consideration of the machines. Maybe it’s just the different ways in which the two series are written, but in TAG, it definitely seems to be that keeping the Thunderbirds as much the same as the way their Dad built them, really matters to these boys.
It was a pretty good remake of the crash landing too, as well as being perfectly original in its own senses. And hey, Virgil didn’t get knocked out this time! But Thunderbird Two did still get drenched in fire suppressant foam. Oh well, you can’t have it all.
“I don’t know who this Mechanic fellow is, but I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts he’s getting some help from The Hood.”
“Uh, Grandma, The Hood’s in prison.”
And Grandma calls it right again! Anyone want to give her a third go this episode?
Interesting method of rescue. We’ve never seen anything like this before... And Kayo’s off doing her snooping. Love a bit of spy work.
Speaking of...
Here is something of a conversation... or should that be interrogation, but subtly?
“You know, Ma’am, hI ‘ave ways to make ‘im talk.”
“I think Miss Creighton-Ward is doing just fine on her own, Parker.”
No! I wanted to see what Parker had up his sleeve, Colonel Casey and I bet others out there did too, someone dare to prove me wrong. Go on.
“This look suits you. Stripes.”
“Yes, and red suits you. We can chit-chat all day if you like, but I suspect you’re here because someone is in trouble. Perhaps something worse than me has come to pass?”
“You mean The Mechanic? Oh, he’s well in hand by now. His first mistake was taking shots at the GDF; his last was taking shots at my friends.”
“This has nothing to do with me, of course. Being in here!”
“Certainly not. This Mechanic fellow has none of your guile and sophistication.”
Look at that creepy eye going.
So these are Mecca’s.
And this is The Mechanic.
Let’s finally discuss what we know about the villain.
“This guy is untouchable, Brains.”
“I believe The Mechanic is using Null-Point Energy in a recombinant distribution matrix.”
So, I’m trying to write this like I know nothing of how this whole story and character pans out, just so we can note the development along the way - so I know we do know more than this, but run with this level of knowledge in keeping with the current reruns of the show.
So we know he’s good with tech. That’s a first.
He’s connected to The Hood in someway for a second.
He can hack EOS, for a third - and John is good with tech so that is saying something.
And he knows Brains, that’s our fourth.
He looks like quite the bad guy actually... Little bit worrying for us.
Now, expanding on all this - back when series 2 of TAG first started, I read an interesting theory that suggested The Mechanic was meant to be in someway like or be the Black Phantom from the original series (Thunderbird Six) who was also mentioned by the IR impostors in the episode ‘The Impostors’ and was clearly supposed to be the person they were working for.
Now, we never really got to know much about Black Phantom, other than the fact that he ran his operations much like The Hood. In fact, Sylvia Anderson apparently referred to him on set as “Hood Jr.” which of course, could just be a nickname she chose to give the character, or could be implying a possible blood relation. ‘The Complete Book of Thunderbirds’ then took this one step further by implying that Black Phantom and The Hood were indeed the same person. Now, of course, there is every chance of this potentially being true as we know the Hood is capable of changing his face, and that he is called The Hood because he has so many alias’ that no one knows his real name.
Of course that above theory would cut The Mechanic out from being the Black Phantom, but it was still a worthwhile penny to flick into our thought space. Personally I don’t think The Mechanic and Black Phantom are the same person, but the post did raise interesting points about their shared traits of shadowy intelligence and ruthless actions. I think these are definitely the kind of characteristics that The Hood looks for in employees and so I can see where the idea came from.
Returning back to the idea of The Hood and Black Phantom being either related or the same person - just quickly to finish this whole section - The Hood is “feared as the most dangerous man in the world”, where as Black Phantom was noted as “utterly ruthless”. In many ways, these two elements and traits can and do cross over. It is likely to think that if The Hood is regarded as the most dangerous man in the world, that he is known to be capable of being ruthless. As a counterpart, if someone if known to be ruthless, let alone utterly, you would probably regard them with caution and consider them a potential danger at the very least.
In case it makes any difference - especially as it could have just been complete coincidence - The Hood’s original puppet was remade into Black Phantom for the sake of the Thunderbird Six movie, so who knows, maybe...
Oh, and the above I’ve included just because I like it and I wanted to put it here. I don’t know who made the original gif, but credit to them.

January 27: 2x04 Mirror Mirror
Had some technical difficulties but finally managed to watch Mirror Mirror. (Now I’m very tired.)
I see these aliens are more intense pacifists than Spock.
When Kirk says “But we won’t [force you], consider that,” right over his shoulder and into camera, it looks like he’s posing for a commercial.
Ah ha, the Classic Transporter Accident. (Aka how that became a classic trope lol.)
I love that they zero in on Spock’s beard first thing, like that’s the weirdest part of this universe.
Oh no, the agonizer!
So my big question is: do all the ISS Captains wear that gold vest or is it a Kirk thing? I just find it very funny that the men in the mirrorverse wear about the same amount of clothing as in the regular universe, and the ladies wear a lot less...and then there’s Kirk, conspicuously showing off his arms. Vests are NOT regulation!
When does he get a chance to record his log? And wouldn’t it be... recorded in the mirrorverse?
Kirk’s salute is hilarious. Uh, yeah, salute and wave, I guess??
He’s really focused on Spock. “Another ship. Another Spock.”
Kirk’s patented reassuring upper arm grab.
Uhura on the bridge! You can’t tell she’s nervous because she’s brave and strong.
This episode, and to a lesser extent The Naked Time, are why I think Sulu has a thing for her. I know it’s a different universe, but I still think it’s true.
Kirk’s salute is getting better. More confident.
He just doesn’t know how to be evil. He’s too good, too pure.
Hmmm, Security Chief Sulu? He really does have a lot of interests.
I wonder what Vulcan is like in this universe. They are still clearly post-Reform. But more ruthless. Scarier. Probably meat eaters.
Damn little Chekov. Just waiting for his chance to mutiny.
Security Chief, like the Gestapo. Did not know that was what the reference was supposed to be.
Hmm, male computer voice. This MUST be an evil universe.
“I’m a doctor, not an engineer.”
Evil Kirk strikes again! Honestly, this scene of the ISS crew on the regular Enterprise might be my favorite in the whole ep. Yet again obsessed with Spock’s facial hair. And Spock is obviously just loving it. “I find it extremely interesting.”
I think Kirk and Spock BOTH know what would buy Spock.
“I should regret your death.” I mean that’s basically a love confession. I love how they depict the K and S relationship in the mirrorverse. The subtle ways in which they’re still a team.
Spock would absolutely have killed Chekov for trying to kill Kirk.
I find evil!Spock the most convincing of all of this universe. I think he simultaneously feels true to the original character, and is also obviously of this universe, and that’s a pretty impressive feat.
“Terror must be maintained or the Empire is doomed.” Print that on a t-shirt.
“Conquest is easy. Control is not.” A lot of the mirror verse is over the top cartoony villainy but this is a very good point, and this scene in general is super interesting and subtle.
Kirk is so tunred on by that conversation with Spock. Like even in these circumstances, he still looks at Spock like he’s in love.
Hmmm, I like Marlena.
Of course evil!Kirk has an on-ship girlfriend, which good!Kirk would never do.
Evil!Spock is still very loyal, so much for all that “I would be a formidable enemy” stuff lol. “You’ll never find another man like him.” Too true.
Of course there’s some plundered alien tech plot device. I actually think that’s an interesting twist in a way... of course the ISS wouldn’t care about stealing, and so some...interesting artifacts might find their way onto starships.
Spock is upset he wasn’t included in this landing party meeting.
Hmmm, Sulu already wants to be Captain.
WHAT? SPOCK HAS OPERATIVES? VULCAN OPERATIVES? WHO ARE THEY? I MUST KNOW MORE. (Is one of them T’Pring?)
Marlena’s Starfleet uniform was hotter than this...paisley nightgown thing.
She’s so dramatic. Kirk is busy one time and she’s like well! I guess we’re over! Transfer me to another ship!
Another Captain Kirk arm grab moment.
I love how literally no one was surprised by that Uhura and Sulu moment on the bridge. “I’ve changed my mind again whoops.”
I can’t believe getting kicked once and then knocked on the head would almost kill Spock lol--seems like probably he might just have a concussion?--but I do like the concept of McCoy risking being left behind to help him. (And Kirk signing off on it because duh.) McCoy is just so good hearted.
Captain Sulu strikes again. Everyone has their own agenda lol. So many obstacles when everyone’s just out for himself.
Haha well that solved that. Zap zap zap and they’re gone.
As suspected, Spock recovered pretty fast. And he goes straight for the mind meld, obviously. That does seem pretty evil of him.
And another obstacle lol. I like that Kirk says Marlena can’t come with them because they can only bring 4 people because of the Calculations, even though... like surely he should already be able to guess there’s another Marlena in his universe and she can’t exactly replace a person who already exists? That would be bad.
Damn Uhura, saving the day again and looking damn fine doing it.
“I must have my Captain back.” Not even subtle about it. He MUST.
The Empire is illogical because it cannot endure.
Is Kirk literally asking this Spock to overthrow his other self and become Captain?
Also...is Marlena going to attach herself to the new Captain?? What does she think of all this?
This is probably one of the best end-of-episode bridge banter scenes in the series. “If I read my Spocks correctly.” Spock is a bit of a pirate. (I think Sarek would agree.) Spock loving the evil humans. Being jealous of Marlena. Kirk probably wondering how Mirror!Kirk and his Spock got along.
I think this is a really great episode, obviously, and I liked all of the intrigue. I thought the double, triple, quadruple crossing was really well plotted. Marlena is one of the better Love Interests and I thought she was really compelling. I LOVED Mirror Spock, and the general characterization of and subtleties to both Spocks. Mirror Sulu was interesting (what does he say about real Sulu I wonder?) and of course we got great Uhura moments and a good Bones moment too. I thought Kirk was interesting in this ep also, not quite confronting his evil side like in The Enemy Within, but...well I do think that was a part of him, the inferred characterization of mirror!Kirk, ambitious, single-minded--”inflexible, disciplined once you’ve made up your mind”--isn’t so outrageous or hard to understand.
I think the weakness of the ep is in the Mirror verse itself. It’s always struck me as a bit too cartoon-villain-y, painted in too broad strokes. Everyone wants to use violence to gain power. If deaths are so common, how has anyone survived this long lol? They allude to this sometimes--Spock not wanting command because it makes him a target, Kirk telling Spock the Empire is wasteful and ultimately unsustainable and thus illogical--but that just invites scrutiny under which the premise doesn’t hold. Imo, an organization like the Empire could never have lasted as long as or become as powerful as the Federation. As Kirk says, control is harder than conquest. I’m not even sure that all of the planets of the Federation could have come together in an Empire, and any allegiance would be very unstable. In other words, I don’t think “the Federation but make it evil” is even a sustainable premise.
Also, while people surely do crave power for the sake of power, I... tend to need a little more in my villainous characterization. Like, when I see that kind of villain, I always think of Price in Mr. Robot: “Every room I’m in, I ask myself ‘am I the most powerful person here?’ and I don’t stop until the answer is always yes.” That really is the core of him--and yet he’s still a subtle villain. That’s kind of the standard for me, I think. To put it another way, maybe the core of all villainy is just lust for power (and/or money) and maybe the best way to get power is brute strength, but the manifestations of evil are usually more subtle: some people who just want power, some people who have more narrow goals and can’t see the whole, many people who have been manipulated, and then just human ills like laziness, ineptitude, selfishness, short-sightedness. Only the most blunt of those traits and instruments really made it into the Mirror verse.
I would have liked to see the mirrorverse be more like... the mob.
...But it is only a 50 minute episode lmao.
Anyway, I find it very interesting that mirror!Spock has Vulcan operatives. His personal security guard is Vulcan, and taking these facts together, I think it’s safe to say that there are more Vulcan officers and enlisted on the ISS Enterprise than USS Enterprise. I’m not sure what to do with that but I find it very interesting. Is he more powerful on Vulcan? Is he more attuned to his Vulcan side? Are Vulcans more impressed with or deferential to him?
Anyway I am exhausted rn and I still have two more days this week so... off to bed. Next week’s ep is The Classic, The Apple.
