I think I'm going to have to go with tumblr, and it's not just because we're here. Twitter and Bluesky are nice and my experiences on both are overwhelmingly positive. But tumblr has an atmosphere that encourages originality, sharing your creations and talking about things in depth.

I just realized! For Michael's affection timeline/meter thing. The first time you told us that the Michael's responses to asks were platonic in nature due to him being us as a friend at the time. Does that mean Michael's responses can become more romantic as the blog/game progresses?

Yep ::-) That was my intent! It's especially reserved for the drawn responses (which I haven't had the time to do these days but I definitely will in the future once I'm done w college in March!)

Yeah, it is kind of annoying when it's constant questions that have already been answered on the lore masterlist or things that get talked about over and over on the blog. I know the lore masrerlists are long and there's a lot to go through, but I spent a long time last night reorganizing them to make them a bit easier to look through.

I don't mind people asking for spoilers for things that are going to happen, or theorizing about things because I get to use the gif. It's when people ask about things that have been touched on already in the fic. If you're a new reader, it's either already been talked about, or it's going to be.

I know everyone is anxious to get to the angst and the plot with the cameras, but we'll get there. We will. I didn't put it in the story for no reason. Things will start coming together as we get closer (which we are pretty close now) as to why it's taken so long. Trust me, I'd love to get there faster, but there's other things we have to focus on too that will be important later. I don't write things for no reason. Everything is for a reason and things will play out, I promise. I can tell the people who actually read and pay attention to details versus those that just read the words because I've been hinting at things since the beginning. A lot of things have been hinted at or mentioned or foreshadowed that have happened, or will.

I know a lot of people only come to my blog for the fic. Which, that's fine. But like...take the time to look around. I have a navigation post for a reason. It'll answer most of your questions and if it doesn't, then ask. I'm begging people to look first 😭 please for my sake and yours.

I did take a rest today. Ignored tumblr for a while and did some things I wanted to do.

if you've ever scrolled for a bit here, you've probably Seen that I've tried a few times to get back into posting more often and failed comically as i grappled with the dreaded Mental Eel Nesses and Executive Dysfunction, among other things. especially since ask blogs aren't as popular as they were back in the day when i made this blog (2015! turned 9 years last aug 15th! that's an entire child. jin owes me a lot of child support,)

okay so like. cutting straight to the point not gonna get sentimental right now I'll save that for later: i want to keep this blog active REALLY bad, but as much as I'd like to, for multiple reasons i cannot draw as much as i did back in the day, which is like... the main thing i usually post here. so I've been pondering for the past year or so What to Do about it

my one idea is to turn this into a general kgpr blog and reblog other people's art and official stuff and the alike here, instead of keeping it Just My Stuff

but the thing is, if i DO that i would want to change my url, because reblogging art to a place that's named "badly drawn--" whatever is. i Don't Want That y'know? it's disrespectful lol

the thing is that that's soooo many links that would Break. among other things. (+ i have nooo clue what id change the name to but that's a different issue)

This particular mend was an interesting journey, I think. It really had me considering the process and approach in the second half, when initially I started with a real napkin sketch of an idea, and hurriedly threw it down onto the fabric.

So first off, here, we just see some black thread whip-stitching a hole in place, nothing special, right?

Turns out, WRONG! It's not just a satin stitched circle, it's gonna be a cat paw! Here's where I pause for a bit, though, because I'm realizing that the black thread really doesn't show off the shape and detailing in the satin stitches, so it just sort of looks like two vaguely shaped blobs, and that won't do!

So, I settle in for a bit of a think, and, additionally noticing that Magnus, the cat who's paw I started this with in mind, has black toe beans, realize I've gotta take a bit of a left turn away from the impulse of "put cat paw over cat holes". I did a little digging, turns out, there's a tool that generates DMC color codes based on color code (over here: https://www.thread-bare.com/tools/match-closest-dmc-thread-to-color-tool), and decide that color-picking from Library's beans would be a fun way to solve the problem. Color picking from the reference picture of his beans here:

revealed an additional minor trouble, the color that would have perfectly matched the center bean there on his front paw was discontinued, but good news, the second and third closest colors are super easy to get! I did a little test swatching to find that the way I was planning to blend those two colors didn't quite work as intended (alternating stitch by stitch satin stitches, and adding a ceylon block of the second, pinker color on top of the third, greyer color satin stitches), like so:

Made it so I had to make a third pivot from the original idea, and I came up with this!

In a nutshell? split the difference by bean! Have the main one in the middle be the reddish-pink color I thought was slightly too directly pink for the whole thing, since like you can see in the reference photo, the center bean is a bit more flushed, and use the greyer color for the toe beans, since they're a bit less red in tone.

Especially with the test swatching I did to cover up some burn marks on a rag that had an Unfortunate Encounter with the stove, it really felt like I was actually making artistic decisions here, rather than just going "hm, lemme just toss some cute little thisn'that over some holes in my wardrobe".

Sure, anchoring those pink satin stitches onto the black threads that stretched over the original hole made it a bit more of a process, (knotting the thread to get it to hold still didn't 100% work out, like you can see with those two small horizontal stitches) but at the end of the day, I really like the look of how it all came together, and I wouldn't be complaining if I didn't see it from the inside, as it goes with art projects. Now I've got a little cat-paw that reminds me of both of my cats, and I get to wear it around for people to see!

nobody thinks izzy is mean to ed “for no reason” btw. he’s got reasons! he’s got motivations! but izzy’s reasons don’t excuse him, and they’re not written to excuse him. izzy’s actions are justifiable from his perspective, but the show doesn’t agree with his perspective. yknow, because he’s an antagonist?

and an antagonist’s actions can be unjustified AND sympathetic, actually. i personally don’t find izzy to be sympathetic, but that’s just my taste in blorbos. just for an example tho: azula from avatar the last airbender is very sympathetic to me, but that doesn’t make her actions justified, yknow? she was helping her dad commit genocide. no amount of childhood trauma excuses that.

that’s where the “villain discourse” around izzy comes from. when there’s a post talking about how fucked up it was that izzy called ye olde SWAT team on the Revenge and someone argues “well, he just wanted his captain back! ed was changing and leaving izzy behind! he felt betrayed and heartbroken!” it’s like… yeah, we know??? that doesn’t make calling the navy not fucked up????

or a post about how cruel izzy’s being when he says “i should’ve let the english kill you. this… whatever it is you’ve become is a fate worse than death. edward better watch his fucking step” getting countered with “izzy thinks ed needs to be tough or else the crew is going to lose respect for ed and their respect for ed is the only reason izzy didn’t get thrown overboard” or “izzy doesn’t understand how ed is changing and he doesn’t like it” like yeah we all know that, the thing is that izzy is wrong and that’s the whole point.

idk. liking and sympathizing with izzy doesn’t have to mean misunderstanding his narrative role in season 1, y’all. he’s an antagonist, and his reasons are not meant to be excuses. if he gets a redemption arc, it’s going to be a redemption arc, not an “izzy-was-justified-the-whole-time” arc. and as long as the fandom understands that, then we’re all in agreement!

Lauren/Scary Girl is so transfem demigirl to me and I can't explain why

Lauren showed Damien smile HD and/or cupcakes and now he's traumatized

Damien got into science from those grow your own crystal kits

I feel like he has a favorite word

Lauren got Damien a cactus and he named it after the shade of green it was

Raj taught Bowie how to ice skate

Raj has absolutely no storage space on his phone so Bowie's always the one taking photos

Wayne will tease Raj about literally anything but if he notices Raj getting upset he immediately stops
