I might not watch one movie from each previous participant, but I will try to watch one from the person who tagged me. So it'll be Bill (2014), as I've seen your 3 other recs (albeit it was all ages ago!)

And here are my recs. They are Very Bonkers!

Return of the Killer Tomatoes

People often make fun of George Clooney for starting his career with such a B-movie, but mind you, it's not just a B-movie, it's THE B-movie. It's weird, low budget, and, well, bad, but they know it, and they actually make fun of it, in a million ways. The script is actually smarter than it looks. All the way to the post-credit scene! And yes, George Clooney makes pizzas.

Batman, The Movie (1966)

Not unlike the previous one, this movie is a parody of itself in a hilarious way. It's stupid and funny at the same time. Holy movie, Batman! Superheroes sure used to not take themselves too seriously. Also, I can't hear any scientist mentioning "heavy water" without bursting out laugh, because of that movie.

Hunt for the Wilderpeople

Okay, something more serious and more recommendable for a change, if you're interested in actual A-movies. Taika Waititi doesn't really need introduction anymore, since he's become such a big shot, but this movie, despite not being his most famous, is actually my favorite of his. Probably because it has a sincerily and authenticity to it. A grumpy old man and a grumpy young kid get to know each other, which someone softens them both.

Burn After Reading

I could pick a dozen of Coen brothers movies, and originally thought of O Brother (as a Great Depression AU of the Odysseus, it absolutely qualifies as "bonkers" I believe) but since I often rec that one as part of my favorite movies list, I decided to pick another of the Coen brothers crazy movies. As often with the Coens, a couple of idiots get caught up in a story bigger than them and it all goes South, really fast. It's crazy for sure, with a stellar cast, and Brad Pitt in what might be his greatest role XD

Something I've been thinking a lot about lately is how everyone thought Egon had gone insane. What Happened that made them think that. They've fought a gigantic Stay Puft Marshmellow Man TWICE (counting the 2009 video game because iirc it's canon? Correct me if I'm wrong), fought an interdimensional god, fought a blood thirsty ruler that killed thousands and was hated by all that was trapped in a painting (and managed to get in to beat him by making THE STATUE OF LIBERTY start walking down the street with slime that reacted purely based on vibes), found an underground abandoned transit system full of the moodslime, had a bathtub try to eat Dana and her baby, fought a giant murderous black widow lady, fought the fisherman ghost who turned an entire hotel floor into the bottom of a ocean, and that's not even mentioning them getting trapped on an island that randomly raised up from underwater that had been abandoned for decades created by Ivor Shandor who worshipped Gozer. So what did he do or say that made everyone else think he'd gone insane?? All I can think is maybe he was acting strange / eratic before, but he's always been like that to some degree.

I don't know. It's something that I've been thinking about. The correct answer is 'it's not that deep and they needed a reason that the others weren't together anymore and weren't aware of Egons death or know what was going on,' but also. What Was He Saying that prompted everyone, including Ray, to think he lost his mind when he'd been right almost every time before that.

I'm genuinely so curious as to what he was up to before this. What was he doing. What insane idea was working on prior to this or was he even working on anything at all??

Also want to clarify this post isn't negative 😭 I really love the newer movies and their lore / the newer storyline / characters, I just like thinking about small stupid things like this. Gives me something to think about / speculate about / figure out an answer to.

I think Mutant Mayhem is the first tmnt propriety to make Leo my favorite turtle right off the bat.

Not that I don’t like Leo anywhere else, but usually it takes me like a second rewatch or something to really pick apart Leo’s character in full to appreciate him- and even then he’s usually not my favorite.

But MM Leo is my favorite for reasons I cannot identify.

Maybe it’s the way he walks, his cringe fail personality, I don’t know but I care about this loser so much.

Idk he cares so much abt his siblings despite the fact that they can be so mean to him sometimes. He is also the one who continually pushes to do the right thing when theres nothing (or even sometimes worst things) to gain from it.

Even his attempts at being cool come off as dorkish but it’s charming in a way only little kids can be. In a ‘you’re doing your best sweetie’. Leo is a single mother of three while also being a teenage boy, that takes work.

He’s such a silent but calculating character, ironically when he doesn’t try so hard and does what he feels is right he gets the best results (ie his leader speech, the plan to be accepted, gaining the acceptance of other mutants) for all his fumbling and try hard attitude he has such natural potential it’s insane.

I JUST REALIZEd. Lcsys as the Truman show (if you haven't watched that, it's about this guy who gets his life entirely broadcasted as a TV show but he doesn't know about it)

OOHHH yes >:O It's been a while since I've seen the movie so I wasn't able to remember many specific details, but like a lot of people that last scene really stuck with me

There's an added level of weirdness that Es has to come to terms with when the reveal finally happens -- the fact that this audience actually knows more about them than themself. (I think if it were real, Milgram's dedicated fanbase could have tracked down Es' true identity by the end.) These people see Es' every move, hear their every word, scrutinize their every decision, and knew their real name long before they did...

On a sillier note, I remember the scene with the advertisements and I'm laughing picturing the prisoners trying to hype up their own mv release dates. Es posts the interrogation schedule and every five seconds someone is like, "Oh Wow! I Can't Believe My Song Will Be Extracted On Wednesday March Fifth At Six O'Clock PM Japan Standard Time! I'm So Nervous For Wednesday March Fifth At Six O'Clock PM Japan Standard Time!"
