its so weird to read some of my old fics (do NOT do it but i'm just being hypothetical rn) and reading it. like who even was this person?? i completely was in a haze back in 2020. i literally was posting 3 chapters a day. A DAY. what in the WORLD was that shit.
anyway i remembered some STUPID sappy shit and i didnt remember if i'd put it into a fic or not BUT I FOUND IT.
She and Hope had been dating in secret for months anyway, and any attempt to go talk to Ryan only filed her disposition of displeasure upon knowing that she couldn’t tell anyone, Molly especially, it destroyed herself mentally. They couldn’t really go anywhere near the school, always having to lie to everyone about having projects together when Molly wasn’t around them. It’d consisted with 9 PM - 2 AM intervals of being able to actually see each other. Hope would sneak through her small bedroom window with a portable record player and whatever she had gotten from the vintage record store downtown, and Amy would always fall asleep around eleven because of her internal clock. She would always wake up to find a single sticky note stuck on the edge of her desk whenever she woke up to her alarm the next morning. One of them, Amy still had tucked inside of her phone case, a heavily detailed human heart, with blue and red ink sketched onto a neon pink sticky note, there was a caption that headed the small paper reading the phrase over every now and again makes her almost melt every time. “You have my heart.”
yeah idk why the fuck but i thought of this fucking idea again today and i was like "omg did i ever put that heart note thing in a fic???" yeah you fucking did.
all that to say ME AND WHO???? imagine. thats so fucking.... RAHHHH.
#NOT TOH FANFIC#see this is why i write fanfic. to enact some gay ass shit like this.#the fucking STICKY NOTE WITH A DRAWING OF A HUMAN HEART AND SAYING “YOU HAVE MY HEART” I AM ON THE FLOOR.#*sighs* sucks i cant reuse it on lumity though.#my friend making me realize i actually have rizz but am just too much of a disaster to actually understand cues with people#its a MESS. im just all over the place. i literally ranted to THE SAME FRIEND yesterday (or the day before??) abt some girl jesus.#anyway i remember writing A LOT OF POETRY back in hs about this one girl and then the same girl i got to talk to--#--my first actual conversation with her i blurted out that i wanted to shave my head. she was like.... oooooo god i was A MESS#still slid into her school dms during covid and was like “haha guess what i actually mf did???” anyway all that to say underlying dysphoria#they're nonbinary now too and i kinda ghosted them like a complete idiot :(. its been two years or so but i still think of them... a lot...#actually i have more lore about this person and its like istg they actually really liked me but i could not pick it up.#we had such SUCH good chemistry and vibes. n they were really pretty. ughhhhhh.#anyway yeah idk crushes are weird sometimes. the universe knows how unstoppable id be with a partner#i feel like i was the reason they were able to find themself and their identity because when we were talking i always encouraged them#and told them to do what felt right. im glad they did. i think sometimes that brings me peace. like i served a purpose.#STILL showed them toh. STILL SHOWED THEM TOH.#we were talking about amity LMAO “this green haired girl seems interesting” SHE SO WAS.#...yeah i wish i could text them but i kinda probably fucked it up.#shitposting shit#idk what this post is i just wanted to talk about this dumb sticky note thing because im rotating it in my brain and remembering how#mentally ill i was back in 2020#talking into the void yk how it isssss

What do you think of The Owl House? Like, I liked and respect Dana a lot for what she's accomplished, but I also feel like everyone is just pretending that the show doesn't have any problems, as I felt that the cast was always very poorly developed from the beginning.
I like the show, I don't love it, but i think it's pretty good. TOH has a lot of really cool world building and lore, but I also found a lot of the characters really lacking. Three of my biggest annoyances were Luz, the characters having altered personalities after one episode and the underutilization of Luz's friends.
I think Luz is actually a great protagonist, my issue is when the show really loves to tease her as this flawed and morally complicated protagonist when... she isn't? any time she does something bad, its completely accidental. It's funny when the show first came out and people negatively compared her to Mabel because Mabel actually did make a lot of selfish and careless decisions that she had to grow from.
The show also had a bizarre habit of giving characters new personalities after their first appearance, and I think Amity is the worst offender of this. Her first appearance she's the generic mean girl bully, and this is used to create conflict and for Luz to befriend Willow. But then after that, all of a sudden she's super "cold" and keeps to herself, and the characters act like she's just the popular quiet girl? and then the show has the audacity to blame a lot of the bullying Amity did on her friends and parents. I have no clue why the flashback episodes portrayed it like Amity just watched as her friends bullied Willow, SHE was a part of that! Similar issue with Hunter. Introduced as a snarky brat, and then his next appearance he's incredibly angsty and depressed so the audience could sympathize with him. Willow and the Collector were also ones that stuck out to me, but it was a change that was subtle enough that I didn't notice.
I don't know why writers do this. I like it when your characters are messy and flawed, give them unlikable traits so we can watch them slowly be better people. Don't tell me someone is flawed and then don't give them flaws and don't tell me to sympathize with a character by just giving them a new personality.
I think everyone is pretty aware of how poorly utilized Luz's friends are but there are seriously so many episodes where I was like "why aren't Willow and Guz taking Amity's place". They really feel like a studio mandate.
Also Lumity is kind of boring but honestly, I don't really think its as big of a deal as some fans think it is. Lots of cartoons have straight couples that quarrel, get together and their relationship isn't the most compelling in the world, but its still pretty cute. If anything I do wish Amity would work through her issues more than have what little personality she had disappear when she dated Luz.
With your point about how fans handle criticism, admittedly I think part of the reason why people don't want to admit the show's problem is because Disney fucked it over MASSIVELY and it feels like punching down (at least to them). I think there's a very common mentality of "is it fair to criticize a show that never really got a chance to fully find its stride?"
But I also know this is just a massive problem with shows that have queer characters in general. There's just this prevalent attitude that if you have a problem with a piece of media that also happens to have queer characters, it means you're "ungrateful" or trying to insult it on purpose. Though personally, I think TOH fans are a lot better at handling and giving criticism.

My most important sapphic ships post before Pride Month ends
What the title says, studying kept (and still keeps me) busy so we gotta go fast lol
Bumbleby (RWBY)
Tumblr media
to the surprise of absolutely no one, they get first place (despite me not going in a particular order) because of reasons. They're perfect. Soulmates. Slowburn of all time. Yin and Yang. Eyes the color of each other's souls. Truest OTP to ever OTP in my book. ∞/10
Konosetsu (Negima!)
Tumblr media
I already talked about them in their own post, this scene changed my life leading to my self-discovery and it still lives rent-free in my mind.
Kyosaya (Madoka Magica)
Tumblr media
I'd also add MadoHomu but I'm trying to keep it to just one for each fandom. That said, they still make me mentally unwell. I love them, and I did for a long time now. I can't wait for the next movie to come out and suffer.
Ruby and Sapphire (Steven Universe)
Tumblr media
These bitches had the first cartoon gay wedding and kiss DO I NEED TO SAY MORE???
Korrsami (Avatar)
Tumblr media
Still down the queer cartoons making history path, these two made me insane back in the day because I still didn't understand I was queer and lots of sapphic couple were starting to appear in media, and I remember jokingly say how "lesbian ships were hauting me". All I can say now is "Thank you" lol. Anyway, they were incredibly important and all the people criticizing how little queerness there's in the show will never understand just how massive this scene was.
Catradora (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power)
Tumblr media
Friends to Enemies to back to Friends to Lovers. Iconic. I still want a movie with their adventures bringing magic back to the universe.
Hollstein (Carmilla)
Tumblr media
My third beloved blonde with a cat gf ship. I miss this web-series every day. Also, Natasha Negovanlis played an immense role in my gay awakening.
Ellie and Riley (The Last of Us: Left Behind)
Tumblr media
Ellie and Dina are adorable and I love them, BUT I just will never get over these two. That dlc fucked me up. (also, they're in the same category with Korrasami as "gay ships that hauted me before I realized I was queer" lol)
Lumity (The Owl House)
Tumblr media
I remember starting this show feeling it as the successor of Steven Universe, at least to me. We could say that at level of mistreatment from its parent company, it defenitely surpassed it, but at least I'm glad I was right and we got Luz and Amity becoming canon. I love these two and not a day passes without me yelling at Disney for what it did to them.
Bubbline (Adventure Time)
Tumblr media
I actually watched Adventure Time fully only recently, but I always loved them even when I watched the show randomly when it appeared in tv back in the day. Getting to see the progression properly just made me love them even more.
Yasammy (Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous/Chaos Theory)
Tumblr media
Incredibly recent addition, but I am so glad that I checked out Camp Cretaceous and got into it. It's a nice show and these two are a really cute couple, their confession and especially Yaz's internal turmoil were just so on point. I was really happy to see them go still strong in Chaos Theory, and I can't wait for next season.
Pricefield (Life is Strange)
Tumblr media
These two caused me pain in the best possible way. I felt literal heartbreak at the Bay Ending, and I was just as emotional at the Bae one (Bae > Bay Forever) I hope the new game will respect their relationship OR ELSE.
Wow, this is quite the list. I do have an amazing taste, if I do say so myself, ahah!
Well, I guess this is it for now, glad I could make it before Pride Month was over! Knowing myself I might have actually forgotten some though, so keep an eye out for possible updates (what makes me even think that you'd care? lol).
That would be all, be gay and do crimes! Bye!

Tumblr media
I have a lot of things to say about this character. I used to identify with her a bit but I no longer do and a lot of the writing in her “arc” has aged poorly. The narrative wants to portray her as just someone who longs to be understood. What we got though is a character who never grows and remains selfish and inconsiderate. I respect and understand that she’s important to a lot of people who are queer and neurodivergent as I am too but I don’t think she’s as good as her stans say.
I’m going to contrast her with two protagonists I am fond of. The character I named my blog after, Ben Tennyson, and Akko from Little Witch Academia which I just finished watching. I actually compared the former to Luz in a more positive post back when I liked her but I think a more critical comparison is needed now. Some have said it but TOH is just an isekai anime for queer people. Any development Luz may have had regarding being less impulsive and selfish got dropped in favor of her just wanting to be understood. She gets everything she wants, to be the hero, to date the rich popular girl, and never be criticized or challenged by anyone.
If Lumity was a cishet ship, it would get a lot more flack from people. Amity herself is woobified by her fans when she was often nasty to Luz or Willow for no reason and didn’t do much to redeem herself for the latter. Luz chose to keep lying to Amity and kept secrets even after she promised to do better. Despite suffering from bad writing in UA, Ben/Julie was still better than this. Julie actually held Ben accountable when he lied or screwed up and she never bullied him, Gwen or Kevin. Ben does try, even if he’s not very good at it to be a better boyfriend and spend more time with Julie as seen in “Revenge of The Swarm” after promising he’d do better.
Tumblr media
Some other things that make Ben better than Luz is that his hero fantasy is actually deconstructed. He learns he can’t mess around and do what ever he wants. While he jokes around and acts like a brat, he admits it’s because he’s scared because of the stakes that come if he fails in the episode “The Forge of Creation”. This is not to say Ben 10 is great as it does slip into isekai territory as well with that disgusting harem episode in OV, but it does a little better. He’s also actually bullied as shown in the OS and AF which makes him a bit more sympathetic whereas fanon is used to make Luz more likable than what just the show itself tells.
Regarding Akko, she’s similar to Luz in that she’s impulsive, selfish, rude and wants to be a witch to live out some fantasy. The difference is that Akko learns to be more responsible, that not everything is about her and that she can’t just get whatever she wants. While patience is still something she struggles with by the end of the series, she still grows and becomes a better person. Whereas Luz was willing to abandon everyone while wallowing in self pity, Akko ran away for a few hours after learning that Chariot, her mentor, idol and friend was the reason she was struggling but a quick talk with Diana brought her back. The thing is that a character whos not a noble saint but still very sympathetic can work such as Shinji Ikari but not if they’re framed as heroic like Luz. That’s why a lot of the show’s writing has not aged well.
Tumblr media
To recap, this isn’t to bash people who do identify with Luz and like her. I used to as well, but she’s got some flaws that are often brushed away and the narrative seemed like it wanted to have its cake and eat it too. Wanted to challenge traditional fantasy tropes while ultimately turning into a chosen one wish fulfillment for Luz. TOH was praised for its representation as well as by people who view it as the anti SU but its not the greatest show ever and there are some troubling implications.

New TOH Content From Disney's Chibiverse Valentine's Day Episode!
youtube
Since the episode is both A.) Over 22 minutes long & B.) Features numerous characters from various Disney owned IP's; I will only be posting screenshots that contain TOH characters.
Now that's out of the way... Let's get started!
Tumblr media
Considering how Lumity heavy this Chibiverse episode is, it amuses me that Hunter is the first TOH character to make an appearance.
Tumblr media
He's manning the kiss cam! He takes the responsibility very seriously.
Tumblr media
Lumity arrives! On... Stringbean... wearing outfits that they don't wear in Season 3. You know, the season Stringbean hatches in.
I suppose the Chibiverse never claimed to follow continuity, lol.
Tumblr media
The episode has a "couples compete against other couples in a game show" set up. Luz and Amity are chosen as one of the couples to compete!
Tumblr media
The Chibiverse episodes aren't really much more than the Chibi Tiny Tales shorts complied together, with some new animated content revolving around a wafer thin "plot" being used to connect the segments.
In this segment, Luz is riding a rollercoaster!
Tumblr media
And now she's on a ferris wheel with Amity! Mere seconds after being seen riding another ride, lol.
Tumblr media
Game show format.
Tumblr media
Lumity tease another couple about how they're totally in love with each other despite claiming to be friends by mentioning that they also started out as friends. (And before that, enemies!)
Tumblr media
Anyone else wondering why Amity's eyes have been half-lidded nearly the entire time?
Tumblr media
Lumity being recognized and used in official Disney licensed content!
Amusingly, instead of it being called their "ship name", it's referred to as their "power couple" name. Lol.
Tumblr media
This little point icon thing-y is adorable.
Tumblr media
But I think that the little heart with their faces on it on top of it is even more adorable, lol.
Tumblr media
Next bit of TOH related content in this episode, the Lumity Date Chibi Tiny Tales short!
I did not screenshot any of it because it can be found elsewhere online.
Tumblr media
Question one for the couples: What's your partner's favorite food?
Tumblr media
And Amity's favorite food is apparently fairy pie! This makes the fact that she made a fairy pie was Luz at one point even sweeter than it already was.
Tumblr media
And Amity loves it! Luz blushes with pride.
Tumblr media
More teasing!
Amity also looks weirdly like a cat in this 'shot, lol.
Tumblr media
Second question for the couples: What is your partner's favorite color?
Turns out, Amity's is lavender!
(Also: Glyphs apparently work in the Chibiverse.)
Tumblr media
Only that's actually... wrong?!
As it turns out, Amity's real favorite color is... periwrinkle.
Tumblr media
Luz & Amity try to argue that lavender & periwrinkle are so similar that they might as well be the same color, but no sell.
Tumblr media
Yet more teasing. This is the main running gag for the episode, and yes, by this point, it starts to feel like it's overstayed it's welcome.
Tumblr media
And now it's time to watch The Amphibia House Chibi Tiny Tales short!
I don't know what this short has to do with "love" (Since all of the shorts are supposed to revolve around it in this episode), but maybe it considers Luz and Anne's new friendship to be a form of platonic love or something. Lol.
Tumblr media
Time for the final question!
Tumblr media
What does your partner want to be when they grow up?
Tumblr media
We never actually get to see either Luz or Amity answer this question.
Tumblr media
Because they tie with another couple and thus "win" the game show basically by default, lol.
Tumblr media
But we do get to see them kiss on the kiss cam!
Tumblr media
I literally just included this because Luz & Amity are both blushing.
Tumblr media
Enough Lumity! Now let's get some eleventh hour Huntlow!
Tumblr media
I love how this is how we finally got an official Huntlow kiss, lol. Hunter is about as shocked as I was to see it!
And that's all folks. Hope you liked my rundown!

Huntlow Grom Redraws (The Confession)
Huntlow Grom Masterpost
Previous: The Fear
Next: The Dance
Video:
Out of the redraws ive done recently, this one was by far the most fun to do. It's probably because I reused a lot of backgrounds from "The Fear," and didn't have to worry about lightening like in "The Mud," but oh boy, I'll have to worry about BOTH of those things in "The Dance,"
I think one of my favorite things in this part is drawing Waffles' expression. We got a live Waffles reaction everyone! I did have some trouble deciding what to do with her in panel 6. Due to her positioning on Willow's right, the angle she was at would make Waffles almost entirely obscured. Originally I had her starting to fly to Hunter in that panel, and she wasn't even in panel 7 due to that, but once I realized too much time would have passed between panels 6 and 8 for Waffles to be in that position in panel 8 (which didn't happen until the lining and coloring phase btw) I had to redo her in panel 6 and add her in panel 7.
I changed some expressions as usual.
In panel 1 Willow is angry at Grom for hurting Hunter.
The biggest one being in panels 5-7 I changed Willow's expression from Luz's happy one, to one that's more... well, pretending to be happy. The reason is because of the biggest difference between the Huntlow Grom and the Lumity Grom is that the feelings for lumity were not yet mutual at their first Grom. For Huntlow, they are, and once Willow saw Hunter's note, she was afraid Hunter might like someone else. Which is why she is trying to be supportive, but also a bit upset as she's now even more worried about her chances with Hunter. (Little does she know the note was for her all along) Hence, the expression change.
In panels 5, 7, and 8 I added blush to Hunter for no other reason then I thought it's cute.
Panel 9 I changed Hunter to have a smile determined expression, which continues into panel 10, while Willow is also determined, but frowning.
I might've missed something but that's all the expression changes outside of the obvious major difference that a palisman is there.

@tacsorium I decided to answer in a post because it's too long for a reply.
To answer your question; some of the intrigue might be based on earlier drafts where Charlie was going to have crushes on men (including al) but end the series with a girlfriend. But also, Charlie and Alastor are dark reflections of one another so their dynamic is inherently going to be something that's interesting to watch. I can't say for certain what route they want alastor's potential manipulation to take; however they have already shown us inserting himself as a wedge between Charlie and those who have the potential to be closest to her, namely her father and vaggie. And, romantic or not, Charlie is being set up to be alastor's "person" his exception to all his personal rules. We know he doesn't like being touched without consent and yet he allows Charlie to do as she pleases with him.
As for chaggie, no, I don't feel like they felt like a couple personally. But my issues with that is solely how little vaggie feels like a complete character outside of Charlie that affects my perception of that dynamic. I'm not opposed to them being a couple, but I am annoyed I don't feel as invested as I should. Their relationship is supposed to be a core element and instead it's just... kind of there. And in a show where there's tons of diversity in sexual and orientation it feels like chaggie's relationship should hold more importance.
Lumity is probably not as apt a comparison since we did get to see it develop over two seasons before they actually got together. Did they have episodes where they went on dates? No, did the plot often get in the way of them being happy? Yes. But at the same time it felt like Luz's romantic connection with amity added more stakes instead of none. Falling for a witch was thematic too since it was part of what sent belos himself over the deep end. And here the villain sees what he deems "another poor human" falling for the same trap that took his brother from him. But Luz also doesn't love amity just because she's a witch, we saw at the time that luz and amity originally didn't get along.
One other ship that seems to be more in line which chaggie is Pearl and rose from Steven universe. Right down to the "do it for her" song "whatever it takes". The problem is that Pearl and rose did have thousands of years together, and even still the betrayal of rose deciding to be with Greg and have Steven cut her to the bone. But Pearl was made for Rose, in a very literal sense. Vaggie it feels to some extent would have fallen for the first person to show her kindness in that vulnerable state and it so happened to be Charlie, there's a sense of indebtedness in both situations. The reason it works for Pearl and rose is that part of pearl's journey in steven universe is learning how to be her own gem, her own person, both in and out her romantic relationships.
Vaggie... doesn't get any of that. And fine, whatever, it's not my show. I don't know what Viv has planned next. But I do feel that we can all agree that if they were going to bother to give vaggie her angel wings back (a topic that's a whole other rant) they could have at least paid it off by having Charlie be rescued by her angelic girlfriend instead of Lucifer ex machina once again. Punching Adam in the face was fine, funny even, but love interest rescuing the falling party is like visual story beat basics.
In short, I don't hate chaggie. I just wish the show had given me more to like. Charlastor fills a trope I like of heroine/villain. It's the trope of "I can fix him/I can make her worse". And as an asexual, it's the chance to explore a character who thinks he's above silly things like attraction of any kind to be walloped by feelings and suffer. I really just want to make Alastor suffer is what it comes down to.
Hope this answers any questions you had for me!

I’ve seen Dana say they got news of the shortening before writing Follies at the Coven Day Parade, but I’ve also heard that Knock, Knock, Knockin’ on Hooty’s Door was the first episode they wrote after learning about the shortening. I’m inclined to believe Dana, or perhaps the three prior episodes were already written, but then rewritten in response to the news.
If K3oHD is the threshold, then it’s fitting that so many developments occur for our core trio, like going back to basics. It sets the tone for how the rest of the show is essentially a speedrun of the original plans, with some things still needing to be left out to make room for what’s an abridged version of plans. It’s like the first episode of the new, compact version of TOH the writers had to do; Just as the show’s first episode was about the trio.
This does make me wonder how long it would’ve taken for Lumity to get together, for Harpy Eda to happen, and for King to unlock his roar if it weren’t for the shortening. What was s2e8 supposed to be like, what did the writers initially have in mind? Would it have still followed the same format of the previous season’s eight episode, with three plots for each member of the LEK trio?
As it stands, for how packed and efficient the episode is it still works; People still thought it was normal, same for Eclipse Lake and Yesterday’s Lie. That could point to what Dana said. I guess part of it is that we just see S2A as one batch, so it feels right to assume it was done that way and the shortening only began to take effect with S2B’s first episode, Follies at the Coven Day Parade.
I can see the Raeda breakup flashback still occurring because happening right after the episode we see Raine, and getting further context to Eda and Raine’s dynamic there, feels fitting; A way to add to the tragedy of Raine having to be left behind… Speaking of, knowing the shortening happened right after Eda’s Requiem makes me wonder if the bindings Kikimora placed on Raine were originally meant to have more relevance, but were left as one-note because of the shortening?
Whether it’s ER or K3oHD that it changed, would Raine have been actually brainwashed? Or just outright incapacitated before the writers decided they did not have time to do that AND have Raine return and do things, it’s one or the other. Maybe Darius and Eberwolf were genuine enemies in that episode, and would’ve had an arc during the show’s run of becoming rebels; But since storylines had to be downsized or even removed, this was ‘skipped’ by having it retroactively be the case from the start. And with them, you can at least believe they were always on the same side, whereas an abuser like Alador would have to be addressed because it’s not some one-off misunderstanding.
Man; This being the break, the dividing line, it makes you look differently on either episode on either side of that writing threshold. How they were both changed, one in hindsight and the other in the writing process, to reflect how they’re the transition between different phases of the show. In the end, it’s the same never ending list of questions and What-ifs that will haunt us over TOH, some reasoned inferences and a few confirmations, but ultimately no answers unless we kidnap the writers and make them talk or course.
And even they wouldn’t know fully how the show would’ve turned out in another timeline, because they were still figuring that out and how to fill in and organize the broad strokes when the cancellation arrived and they had to fight for the S3 specials. Because without those the ending would’ve felt very rushed and/or we would’ve missed out on a lot of the buildup and other arcs on the way there, which would also feel extra rushed if not absent. Alas…
Reminds me of how shortly after the cancellations news came, Dana admitted in a 2020 Reddit AMA that writing for S2 was fun, that putting together plot lines was like ‘weaving threads’. Considering how so many things have to come together so efficiently and converge, I can see what she meant. Dana did acknowledge that working within limitations proved to be fun in some ways, and gave the show things it otherwise may not have gotten (such as the Collector); She even planned a separate Choose Your Adventure project based on the audience’s input for her Patreon, before Dana had to cancel it to focus on her career.

Mini analysis of Amity from an autistic perspective
Tumblr media
Amity is a character in the Owl House that I was fairly neutral towards when first watching the show. I quite enjoyed scenes whenever she showed up, but that was mainly because I got to see her dynamic with Luz, who is my favorite character. Being neurodivergent myself (autistic and potentially/undiagnosed ADHD) I suppose I had some tiny worries that Luz dating a supposed neurotypical person could be conflicting in a real-world setting. But, that of course begs the question:
Couldn’t Amity be neurodivergent too?
And to that, I’ll simply say yes, I believe she is. The most popular headcanon on this seems to be her being on the autism spectrum, which I personally headcanon. Autistic Amity as a headcanon sees some backlash, but I mainly attribute that to people preferring to stick to strict canon information. Admittedly, when first hearing of the headcanon myself, I didn’t fully agree with it either, but it’s definitely grown on me a lot.
Amity stands out as an autistic rep for me because of her less appealing traits, from a traditional sense. The cultural perspective on autistic people has seen a sudden shift to this near fetishization of “quirkiness,” where traits like stimming and hyperfixations have been uncomfortably romanticized to some degree. I think a good example of this sort of “quirky autistic” archetype is Marcy Wu from Amphibia; she’s a classic adorkable character who wears her eccentricities proudly, almost seeming too good to be true (which obviously Amphibia leverages later to show us Marcy’s… True Colors.) I by no means think Marcy is a bad character, she’s easily my favorite character from Amphibia and I prefer her to Amity as an autistic rep. Nonetheless, I do appreciate what Amity represents as an autistic character a lot in how she differs from someone like Marcy presentation-wise.
Amity starts off as a bold, arrogant top-student with a rigid academic lifestyle. She’s not great at recognizing other’s emotions or communicating her own. She pushes past all of her inner worries to maintain her classic Little Miss Perfect persona for a time. These are not desirable/romanticizable character traits, but they’re among common autistic symptoms. Given her collected, “conforming” attitude most of the time, most viewers, myself included, wouldn’t suspect Amity is autistic on a first watch. In short, early season 1 Amity represents a masking autistic individual. We see Amity slowly deconstruct the toxic lifestyle her family has forced upon her, and make new connections and start to rebuild a broken one (with Willow.) In her own words from Escaping Expulsion, she’s becoming the person she really wants to be.
The same sentiment is also why trans Amity works so well as a headcanon, but maybe I’ll talk about that another time
Amity’s journey throughout the show is about unmasking her own autistic traits through the support of people like Luz. We get to see her become more sensitive (and I use this word as a compliment,) throughout the course of the show to her own benefit and as a boon to those she cares about. The Owl House is a show about celebrating nonconformity, and I’m glad they allow Amity to push away from her restrictive way of living to become her true self, an autistic girl who trips after getting scared in a library.
A common criticism of Amity’s character is that the Lumity dynamic linearizes her character down to the role of “Luz’s girlfriend” and 180s her entire identity. I do believe the show depicts Amity’s development away from her season 1 self more gradually than some fans give her credit for. The power dynamic between her and Willow has an uncomfortable imbalance to it still, and she’ll occasionally make regretful remarks like “I was top student once,” she’s still changing, at times not the most elegantly, and didn’t spontaneously decide to become a new person for the heck of it. On the topic of her focus on Luz, as someone on the spectrum itself, I do think it’s perfectly reasonable. I’m guilty myself of hyperfixating on romantic interests in the past to the point where they’ll become the entire focus of months of my life, I can’t say I blame Amity for having so much attention on Luz. The show does an amazing job at making their relationship healthy and not surplussing angst for easy story conflict (call me boring but I’m a big fan of unproblematic relationships who actually work through things.) Case in point, I think Amity’s common writing concerns work to her benefit from an autistic perspective, it’s allowed me to enjoy her character a lot more, at least.
One last point before I wrap up, I wanted to bring up one of my favorite lines from Amity and how it gives me major autistic vibes, being from Eclipse Lake:
You know, you were right. We do have a lot in common. I grew up thinking everything was an opportunity to justify… existing! But there are people out there who won't make you feel worthless. You just have to let yourself meet them.
Tumblr media
I’m mainly interested in one specific word here: existing. The emphasis on “existing” is important given the general profoundness of the rest of her statement. Amity wanted this message to be super inspirational and meaningful to Hunter, but she gets flustered in the middle of it, she’s worried about Luz after all, and gives a superficial choppy ending to one of her sentences. No “opportunity to justify my parents loving me/being content with who I am etc…” just one word, existing. I appreciate this line because a lot of autistic people, myself included, have incredibly vivid, articulately-crafted dialogues within their heads, and when it comes time to actually say things out loud, it sounds a lot less eloquent to our own dismay. This line for me highlights why I enjoy Amity as an autistic character so much, being flawed in a realistic, relatable way that isn’t traditionally appealing, and that’s ok.
This is the first time I’ve done a Tumblr analysis like this before, let me know what you’ve thought of it, or share it around if it was of interest to you. I have a lot to say about other Owl House characters (and also Marcy,) so I may make extra analyses in the future

Note
In your opinion does "The Owl House" have any re-watch value? Does the story, characters, characterization, writing, etc. hold up over repeated viewings or is the show played out after the first time through the series?
So I want to acknowledge that this is actually an awkward question. Not with how you phrased it or anything just... Period? Because whether something is rewatchable will mostly come down to personal taste and enjoyment. Some people find Horror movies to be great fun to rewatch while others may not see the point because you already know all the scare moments or answers to creeping dread. Some might find action movies exciting to rewatch while others need the novelty of a first rewatch. As such, my answer is very much so is going to be biased by the fact that I ended up not liking the show.
But... I broke essentially on rewatch in a way. A lot of people have shattered on TOH essentially from having to reconcile what it says versus what it does. A lot of this because TOH constantly kicks payoffs down the line and hints at potential it will reach. It is constantly making the journey suffer for the promise of a grand finale. And, well... A lot of people have agreed that the shortening did not force their hand to break multiple themes in the finale, or take Amity's character or a bunch of other things that bloated the series and never got a proper payoff, such as the Collector.
This format of TOH I think is actually what makes it so hard to rewatch unless you are the ultimate fan of it who will notice nothing. S1 is labeled as boring, a complaint I even agree with as someone who mostly likes S1 still. It spends the most time setting up plot lines though in episodes that are a pretty safe seven out of ten, or worse. Amity episodes can escape this problem decently often, being fun in their own right, but that's why the fandom only acts like half, at best, of S1 even exists. Most of it is easily forgotten because it's very forgettable. Not like in a S1 of Amphibia way where it's all so much fun but also so much of it that they can blur and be hard to separate but just in a "I just wasted 20 minutes of my life watching an okay kids cartoon" way. The only thing that helped those episodes not feel that way was this idea that it was building towards something with these characters.
And... After the shock of things like the Lumity Kiss being real, I don't think S2 holds up for being the majority of those payoffs. Amity and Willow? One of the most explicitly kicked cans? Seen interacting on the same side before either addresses the "We're not friends' thing because of Eclipse Lake, so that's pre-shortening and they still didn't decide to address and then address it badly. Luz's magic is wrapped in a plotline she's not a part of and has no real reaction to even. It's just "Oh, we're just making bullshit up now instead of finding glyphs? K." Amity's parents are wrapped up, in the same episode, early S2, in a very similar way where Amity is barely a part of that episode but now her core angst and excuse for being a bad person? Dealt with and out of the way, at least until they randomly decide to try and say Alador TOOOOOTALLY wasn't a bad guy. That he hated Odalia too. Totally doesn't contradict literally everything that came before, something that would be much more sharply noticed on a binge rewatch. Like... It cannot be understated that by the point most plot threads in TOH wrap up, they were introduced and left to rot for so long that half the time, the fandom was starting to get UPSET during the runtime for the lack of any exploration or conclusion. Long hiatuses didn't help but at its core, even when it was running people were wondering when we would get satisfying answers to thing and rarely were they happy about it.
I think this is a core part of why ONLY the shipping community seems to have clung to TOH. That or people who are exploring the show's missed potential with characters like Belos or the Blights. The fandom has had to either commit to the one thing TOH did do well, its shipping (that comes with so many fucking asterisks) and its potential baiting. But the latter also means you have to recognize why it failed in the process of doing your exploration of the work.
So will some people enjoy rewatching it? Of course. There are people who probably like rewatching the AtLA movie though because the die hards are die hards. Do I think from a casual perspective you get much out of rewatching a random episode, let alone binging the series again?
No. I just think disappointment that the main series will leave you, which will eventually no longer be tempered by the reputation of it having been shortened, will only get worse. It is not a tale worth seeing again, so I hope I see you in the next one.

I had to do at least one drawing of Felony Carl and Globby for Pride Month, and since we got to see them do some minor dancing in"Krei-Oke Night," I thought doing a redraw of Lumity dancing (which is another beautiful LGBTQIA+ couple I love so much ^_^) would be cute. ^_^<3<3<3 Hope you like it. ^_^<3<3<3
*Sorry that I didn't get all of Felony Carl's right arm. I ran out of room and I wasn't keen on the idea of erasing everything to resize it smaller. :( I also debated about adding Nega-Globby exploding in the background to match more of Lumity, but since the drawing was already off-centered, I was like never-mind. :/
@spyrkle4 @enbydemirainbowbigfoot @gelatinous-globster They're both such amazing couples. ^_^<3<3<3<3

Listen idk if I'm stepping on a landmine with this but I'm honestly really confused by the notion that I've seen going around that the "whitbane/belos" side of the fandom are the only ones keeping it alive like. Have you even looked at the other sides of the fandom??? I've seen this take multiple times by multiple people and every time I see it it's as baffling as the last. Like yeah, toh tag might not be as active as it was when the show was still airing but it's still really active. I still see fanart of lumity being cute. Of hooty being a menace. Of Steve. And yes, of Belos and Caleb. I swear that I'm not trying to generalize here, but it feels like the "Belos fan" side of the fandom just seems...bitter almost with the source material. That they didn't get more screentime, and I've seen some really cool fanworks that expanded on what the crew had to cut. How come that got more screentime and our guy didn't? They weren't important! They aren't real fans!
Trust me when I say as a huge fan of the Collector, I get it, I really do, but some of you guys need to chill. You aren't the only ones in the room. We're all a fan of the same show. Everyone was devastated when disney cut it short, and the crew ended up making a great ending even then. We all have things we wished could've gotten more time, but it wasn't our call to make, and that's okay.

Hello owl fans, I wanted to give my critical breakdown on When I first watched Owl House, now rewatching it, looking back at a well known character in
This very 3 part topic focusing on
Everyone's fan favorite Amity who I like to call
(Little Miss Self Insert) Amity analysis & why she’s popular
Tumblr media
Literally the same (Real) hair color as the creator
Tumblr media
DISCLAIMER THIS IS NOT AN ATTACK ON THE CREATOR But a Critic that could benefit the show & educate viewers, POC, BIPOC (Bi meaning black indigenous, Person of color) REP,
(don't Hate appreciate), if ya can't Face different opinions or anyone with an open mind who can critic just being nasty/policing people, There's the Portal Door to outer space.
Ok aight Lets start to this 3 PART topic post
I indeed love my run of Amity as a character because she made an impactful LGBTQ show great, along with her endeavor on how she developed as a character. ( Also Green Hair AMity is Better.) because she had great drive melding her into the person she is, having to face her parents, falling in loving with luz.
Due to the high demand being a lgbt character at times, (even though we been starved and wanting more rep) has at times repercussions and flaws,if the writing, narrative & pacing is compromised in the show which shown after rewatching the series ANOTHER TOPIC.
I'm fully aware that she's a well-known fan favorite character ever since the show's green light along the panel interview with Dana Terrace hyped her up during the debut panel of the other shark cartoon she worked on, DOWN BELOW
youtube
After Rewatching the show I felt there was more to her then just being luz girlfriend,
(like other characters to never get there titular moments at time like the Hexside students.)
and how she was written in a one-sided straight forward manner which people overlook cause we had proud lgbt content to gush over, googling, blushing eyes and the creator saying no romance in the series yet we have a two girls hogging peoples potential and spotlight?!
which contributed to her name trending more & talked about compared to our main POC character (which I find weird & Staggering at times.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Theres proof from a Good post on here THATS IMPORTANT BELOW
Now we got that outta the way 3 major reasons LETS GO
The Favoritism
I feel the favoritism in fandom really says about how the show reacts TO OUR favorite characters, yes a world and great characters can be executed in titular episodes or moment you can let them see shine,
but diving into the season 1 of the show had its Rocky start till they started the real action in season 2 not to mention the kiss scene which put everyone on good edge however hogged (a titular poc spotlight.)
There's proof on how poc people in real life are depicted in media as something negative and gross yet caucisian people are giving everything handed to them in a silver spoon.
so here's a article ill bring up cause these types of behavior says in how poc see ourselves
Heck thats how we got that lumity controversial pic
(IF YA KNOW YA KNOW)
ill pull up with article on black media effects real life
I truly did feel the intent on the show at times was made selfishly at times,
Which there's a link about a unique article that sheds some light on this situation on how it treated Amity and why she was made into a self inset character. Showing relationship run throughout the show.
you can be able to write a good cartoon series and make an impact on fans, spilling your life on the show you care being in there shoes,
However don't let it sacrificed the many aspects excusing plots, and narrative with tonal whiplash & poor characterization.
Hope Your here with me now lets get on to
Shipping discourse
these girls took over the whole world by storm, to the point the fandom only cares about these girls, nothing beyond,
(social media numbers don’t lie on searched characters and many aspects on the owl house.)
if not them but solely for Amity herself. which I felt really was a selfish writing move. Cause I really did love the character until she was written good however shoehorned to being a hollow shel of herself and discourse did no favors.
It irks me to no end cause we have a prominent poc character said previously, who gets not talked about a yet amity is the one y’all favor to? At the point y’all really don’t show y’all don’t care about black, Poc, or BIPOC and there contributions to media.
it pains me to see a show like this has been nothing but a whole show of contradictions and ill-pacing,
And i know why we stand with the ship or any sexuality reveal with any character to gain a following or popularity for that matter is this a good term of how we gotten lgbt media uprising
(which I understand we crave years ago. )
PERFORMATIVE SEXUALITY (Article & Term HERE .)
Not to mention the celebrity worship yall put onto amity herself which is responsible for it
Where gonna make this quick so last session and hoep you have a good one afterwards thanks
The Colorism Issue (Glad fans are speaking out)
Tumblr media
Its just facts that we see white or white-passing as something to be congratulated and praised for compared to what poc go through cause we POCs & myself have to work tens time harder for what we want, (one issue for another session is?)
WHY IS THE NOCEDA FAMILY HAVE DIFFERENT SKINTONES?!
FIX IT Titan
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For media especially Disney has treated Poc if not BIPOC IN live action if not animation to an extent is degrading, you have kids on jessie acting any way without severe repercussions such as how they Treat BIpoc Characters with utmost disrespect. Which is shown throughout our favorite shows. (also shows how the show loves it kids cause it suffers no consequences.)
Now May wonder why i put in Princess & The Frog
We do see great chemistry to the show and movie example
The similar girl dynamic that will be is Tianna and charlotte
There relationship is done better, I do feel there was little bit of colorism played into this and alas not to mention tiana poc friends characters being black but non existing, however I do feel to a agree they really stretched on how we should have diversity in a negative way which I’ll get into in a sec.
Tumblr media
Its at this point charlotte is the sweet spoiled girl and felt amity was favored cause of how she was written that way, they tried to make her favorable because you guess or see she’s WHITE.
Which shows not only poc characters are secondary in animation or forms of media, also how Luz is written in a white space, but with amity
She was gonna be depicted as a favorable one cause of how she was written LIKE CHARLOTTE
(To the point people started seeing charlotte as the main character form princess & the frog.)
Having the cultural representation & also inconsistent characterization shine to the point where we could’ve had great characters shown and debut yet
Have two girls take over the show as a whole really?!
oh reminder the diversity happen yet being sacrificed for a shoehorned lgbt content and activism to the degree it over whlems the show with
amity being a type of reverse mammy to make her look better for luz to counter her spicy latina ways, like a unruly tomboy to kiss the white favored girls booty, knowing full well the fandom will police anyone saying otherwise.
The article I’ll show about gearing our diverse audiences which I feel Disney needs to do a lot better on cultural representation, and harmful stereotypes as this.
ARTICLE ON HOW STEREOTYPES CAN BE IN MEDIA
Hoping I said it well, since there's so much to add to this however hope we can be reasonable on the comment section, so hoping we can have a civil discuss on about this topic thanks for reading this far you have a goodnight and great day where you are
with love kyoko cane

The Owl House Is A Bit of A Mixed Bag When It Comes To Ships
The Owl House is a show that I love a lot, but when it comes to relationships I have some mixed feelings. Now, I don't hate ships in TOH but I do have some issues with them.
The Good
First let's start of with the good; one of the things I like about how TOH handles its ships is how they don't overtake the plot or anything, which is a pretty easy trap that any show with romance can fall into (looking at you Star vs). There's also no bullshit romance drama in the show (the closest thing we get to that is Luz not opening up in S2 EP11 and EP14 but that was about it and its also executed in a way that's not absolutely insufferable).
Lumity is also the show's best relationship; it's gradually built up over the course of season 1 and the first half of season 2 and they are legitimately pretty cute together. Ships like Veesha and Aladraius are also pretty neat. So now let's get into...
The Problems
NOTE: Any issues I have with TOH's ships are most likely due to the shortening, so take my critiques with a grain of salt. Also there will be some criticism levidied towards Huntlow and Reada, if you don't like that don't read the rest of this post.
I think my issues with TOH's ships have to come with the ship's themselves, mainly Raeda and Huntlow. Lumity is good as I already said but the other two have a few issues. First I'ma talk about Huntlow; I don't hate Huntlow as a ship, It's OK, I just think it could have been done a bit better.
The ship mainly suffers from being less developed than Lumity, as Willow and Hunter don't really have that much-developed chemistry with each other. There is one interesting thing about the ship though, that being how they are both young witchlings that were shunned for not being born strong and called a "half-a-witch". That is an interesting parallel, but I don't really think the show develops they're relationship beyond that. The ship is just kinda underdeveloped which is my main problem with it, they're relationship just isn't that fleshed out to me, and as a result, it feels a little bit rushed.
I WILL say though, the moment they had in FTF is cute, it's neat harmless little fan service that doesn't take away from the plot or characters, which is nice.
But overall Huntlow isn't terrible but I have my fair share of issues with it. I honestly feel like this ship has more developed chemistry in fan works than in canon. Like, seriously, Willow and Hunter are incredibly cute together in a lot of Huntlow fan works more than in the actual show.
Anyways, now let's get into...Raeda. I've already talked about this ship before and why I personally don't care for it so I won't go too in depth here, but Raeda to me just suffers from how Raine, as a character, is heavily defined by Eda, and they don't have much depth outside of that. If Raine as a character had more independence from Eda I would have liked this ship a lot more, but they don't.
Again, my issues of Huntlow and Raeda are purely there because of the shortening. If the show wasn't shortened than Huntlow would've definitely been more developed, and Raine would have been a better character with more actual development beyond "Eda's ex".
Conclusion
So ya, that's my thoughts on TOH ships. The shipping in the show isn't bad but I think it could've been better, though again, it's worth mentioning the show got shortened so these problems aren't necessarily its fault, buuuuuut my points still stand. So....bye.

^^^^ me with Geo
So so so so so sooooooooooo
You've met GEO
My reasoning for loving him so much stems from Season 2 Part 1 so I can't fully explain
BUT
I can tell you some things that they show doesn't tell (I think):
Geo says that he's a Munch with the color of a Geckle but it's not true; he's half and half
If you didn't notice but only his left ear was pierced; a sign in the Gay community to other gays that you are gay back when being public about it was frowned upon
The man who wrote the episode "Land of Lost Things" and created Geo (I think he made the character) is gay himself! So in a way, Geo is a self-insert character
I am Aromantic. I just don't feel the need or want to have a romantic relationship. And that seems to have stepped over into the media I watch. I don't ship. I'm slightly romantic repulsed. I don't actively hate it, I just don't like it. I'm fine with canon ships like Jaya or Lumity (from Owl House (plz watch it)).
But something about Geo and Cole. Something about how they interact in Season 2 that just.........AUGHAUGHGHHAHG!!!!!!! It awoken something in me. I feel warm inside!!!! I found myself grinning ear to ear.
It could just be the fantastic writing, but it's so much more. The ship for Geo and Cole is called LostShipping and/or Geode. The fanbase kind of goes back and forth. I don't mind either.
I'm still aro, and I still cringe inside at most romance. But Geode is the one exception and the whole #savemyboycole thing is really dumb
Oh look, I did explain it all without spoiling lol
And yeah......there are ppl who are NOT happy about Geo and Cole. They're not even actually together yet some ppl on Twitter are pissy. They HAAAAATE Geo! It's stupid. First off, it's a lego. Second, it's a kids show. Calm down. It's not that bad/important. Some ppl see Cole as Gay (me) and others see him as straight. Both are fine. Both are cool. He's still the same guy.
Oh, and there's no minifig for Geo. I think it's bc of his hair. They don't have like a set piece of it or something.....eh....just make a plushie of him (and of Cole plzzzzzzzzzz) I'd buy 500 if they did honestly
And now that you've met him.....I am safe to change my pfp to GEO!!!!!!!! (I also LOVE his outfit so much!!!! I want it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I almost put in a pic of him in Season 2 and was like "Oops....back it up! Can't use that!")
Geo! A blorbo! He's such a bean!
I noticed something right off the bat with him looking like a Munce and a Geckle, so when he mentioned it, it kind of confirmed what I'd thought.
I totally remember the gay ear piercing thing! My cousin and uncle were double and triple checking when they got their ears pierced that they didn't get the wrong ear. And that was in the early 2000s. It's amazing what's changed in 20 years. (Note: this is not the cousin who got married in Malaysia last year. This is his older brother, the extreme goth who hosts the Halloween Birthday Party every year. The 1 where my sister pumped me up to do this.)
Oh! I love that little bit of trivia!
*gives you a virtual hug* I will always love my aro friendlies.
It's extremely rare to see a queer couple that is Comfortable and just Exists. With Geo and Cole, it feels natural and unforced. And I'm very glad for that. It's probably why shipping them feels... nice.
Idk, I'm rambling.
I'm guessing the #savemyboycole thing is connected to chriscreator0 somehow?
A characters sexuality or gender doesn't change who they are as a person, and I wish people who criticize media for including queer characters were more willing to understand that. Just bc something about them is revealed doesn't mean they still aren't the character that they liked.
Justice for Geo! We deserve an official minifig or plush of our pretty guy! I will shake my fist at LEGO until something is done for him.

What annoys me is that there is a very clear potential for well developed, multi-faceted interactions between Luz and Willow and Gus, from just what we know about the characters: Gus is the one with the experience of getting tricked, so why not use it for some scenes with Luz in s3? but on the other hand his experience with school is very different from Luz's and Willow's, so that is also something worthy to explore in earlier seasons. Luz and Willow had instantly clicked upon their meeting, but they changed during the course of the show - how does that affects their relationship? Maybe dig deeper into how Willow feels about lumity. They all also feel very responsible for things going wrong, so why not develop that bond?
Instead the show feels outright dismissive of their dynamic by season 2, and then the fandom treats that as an excuse to be like 'oh, their relationship is just cute friendship, so the show could not do anything interesting with it and had to focus on their 'complicated' relationships with white characters' (but curious how even Gus&Willow's relationship with Eda that was present through s1 was never developed even after they were trying to save her, while she got to mentor the Blight twins).
And others had noted how the show needs to involve a white person into most of the romantic relationships, but it feels like the same is true with most of the deeper platonic relationships as well. And, ok, i think another part of the problem is just the writing style and that at times toh seems to really weasel out of the conflict between the core characters, but Amity and Hunter have so much more serious interactions with Luz. And problems with sidelining Gus and then Willow started long before the shortening.
But the show also downplays even the friendship between Willow and Gus: Gus has no real involvement in Understanding Willow - as i've already complained about, and in Glass Ruins Willow's injury is just mentioned in the opening and is never brought up again.
It is so frustrating because this drags the whole show down for me. Obviously the clear prioritizing of the white characters over Willow and Gus, but also just from the technical writing stand point the arcs end up very unbalanced and sometimes the writing choices to remove Gus and Willow out of the picture are just plainly lazy. If Gus and Willow and their friendship with Luz were treated with the same importance - even if after the shortening it was just a moment here or there - it would remove like half of my complaints about the show.
