“We’re going to have to go to the Temple.”

The answer came in a resounding thwap. Non-verbal, yet decisively negatory.

Fox rubbed his hand through his hair. His curls were limp and defeated. The ends drooled on the collar of his undersuit and made him shiver.

“Do you have an alternate suggestion?” he asked. He rapped his knuckles on the rim of the durasteel drum that the patrol team had rolled back with them. “This is barely big enough. And I think it last held something toxic. My lips are tingling.”

Another thwap. A third. More urgent? Emphatic? Fox hadn’t been offered the tentacle interpretation module in flash training.

Ha. ‘Offered’.

Fox sighed and propped his chin on the rim of the barrel, squinting into the dark water and its occupant. Deep red-brown tentacles with lurid green suckers curled over the rim of the barrel and plipped carefully across his pauldron in a noise like tearing flimsi. Shiv had one of the shinies in bed recovering from sucker-to-skin contact; not dangerous to anything but dignity, apparently, but if Fox started singing Coruscanti opera, he wanted to be sober enough to hit the high notes.

He patted one of the tentacles. “I know, I know, but maybe next time you’ll think twice before letting a shiny double-akk dare you to drink the mysterious bottles they find on patrol. We’re all getting another one of Shiv’s lectures thanks to you.”

A mournful blorp and another caressing plip over Fox’s cuisse followed by a bloop as Thorn retreated beneath the water. Dadita taps on the barrel indicated Thorn’s acceptance of his relocation.

Fox called over his shoulder. “Stone! Bring over the lid. We’re rolling this sucker to the Temple!”

And if Thorn managed to thwap a Jedi or two while he was there, well, Fox had plenty of storage on his bucket cam.

Bo-Katan x The Armorer

The royal warrior fallen from grace and the steadfast spiritual leader, ideological opposites with a common goal. It’s the sun and the moon, now perfectly aligned in an eclipse, and no one can look away.

At first it simply reads as a strong showing of solidarity between the two factions. The pair’s mutual respect and partnership is a sign of understanding that all walks of life, all ways to be a Mandalorian, will be honored here on thier home world.

Such it is that when the Mand’alor speaks to the crowd, it is always The Armorer at her right hand. And when the Armorer leads ceremony at the Living Waters, the Mand’alor always stands not far behind her, in support.

Yet it is not just pomp and ceremony that tie the two together. It is no secret that they can often be found side by side by side talking on this or that, in the trenches rebuilding, overseeing the foundlings training, or just sitting by the fire. (At least one observer has even claimed to have seen them walking through the gardens together while talking in hushed tones.)

In short, where one goes the other is sure to follow.

So it’s no shock that the rumor mill is set ablaze. It’s a common ground a both groups have vested interest in, and they trade peices of information like currency.

( “The Mand’alor used to be involved with a Jedi”, a Nite-Owl whispers to a member of the Covert as they haul debris together to clear room for a larger camp.

“We don’t even know The Armorer’s real name. I don’t think anyone does.” he replies.)

Perhaps the first whispers started back on Nevvaro, within the Covert, when then now Mand’alor emerged scandalously bare faced from the humble forge, walking side by side with thier leader. Or maybe it was during the battle for Mandalor, as silver and gold sliced and swung in perfect sync as they led the charge.

It’s quite the tale really.

So of course people talk, as they always have, as they always will.

Sparring partners debate as they clash. (“I heard they got secretly married right after the battle for Mandalor.”

Then the adamant reply, “No way. I bet they actually hate each other. It’s gotta be be just for show.”)

Friends whisper to each other in the dining hall.(“Do you think the Manda’lor has seen her face?”)

There is one thing everyone agrees on though, and that is that there is much work to do.

Especially so in the forge. The Mand’alor has been leading parties in to the destroyed imperial base. First as search parties, now to gather the fallen imperial’s pieces of bastardised beskar.

The shiny white armor plates begin to stack up in the back of the forge, and while it means much work, it also means new armor for foundlings and repairs for those damaged in battle.

On this particular day, a curious gaggle of both helmeted and bare faced young Mandalorians watch The Armorer from a distance in the shadows of the cavernous great forge hall. She hammers at the forge, methodically working a large peice of metal until the sound of a small vehicle breaks her from her trance.

It’s the Mand’alor, backing up a speeder full of shining white imperial helmets, chest plates, and miscellaneous pieces.

The helmetless woman jumps straight of out the seat over the side of the speeder, and gestures with a flourish to the bounty. She says something playfully that, even straining, the group can’t quite manage to hear.

What they do hear is a laugh tempered with the lightest static from a voice modulator, that resounds throughout the cavernous chamber. The Armorer then closes the gap between herself and The Mand’alor, gently placing her gloved hands on the other woman’s shoulders before letting them fall, tenderly grazing the length of her arms on the way down.

“Ooo! I told you!” One of the foundlings squeals from the shadows , “They’re definitely in love.”

“They are not” her friend parries, not as quietly as they should have , “Just because YOU are in love with our Manda’lor does not mean everyone else is too.”

“Phstt, shut up! You’re just mad you lost our bet.” She playfully swats at her friend but the beskar on beskar contact sends a high pitched ping throughout the chamber and both Bo-Katan and The Armorer turn thier heads to to look in thier direction.

“Run! Let’s get out of here.”

“You owe me 10 credits!”

“I do not, that didn’t prove anything!”

Their voices carry throughout the chamber as they scurry away, despite their best efforts.

In the distance, on the grand pedestal of the ancient forge, Bo-Katan smiles despite herself focusing her attention back on The Armorer.

“I have to get this speeder back to the landing platform, but after that...” she lifts her hand to play with the ruffled furs on the edge of The Armorer’s cape, “I’m plenty free to prove anything you’d like.”

“Well my tracinya’ika” she replies in the soft voice that Bo-Katan has come to know is just for her, “I might have a few ideas.”

“This is the way.”

Ages ago when C & I were tossing Pern/Star Wars crossover ideas back and forth (eventually resulting in this ficlet) we figured if the Prequel-era Jedi land on Pern and accidentally Impress firelizards, no one objects to them leaving after the plot is done. If one of them Impresses a non-metallic dragon they get to leave after a lot of strenuous negotiation. If they Impress metallic though then ummmmm the Pern characters do NOT want to let them off-planet again and it's a whole clusterfuck.

HOWEVER. In the middle scenario. Please imagine the looks on the Jedi Council's faces when Anakin lands back on Coruscant with his beautiful blue dragon, Sith.

the more i think about it, the more i am Very Much looking forward to Hunter, Echo and Wrecker's confrontation with Cid.

not just for the "Cid getting what she deserves" part

for the "Hunter, Echo and Wrecker unleashed" part.

yelling. screaming. crying. waving guns around. throwing bottles. shooting bottles. stabbing the bar top with a knife.

i want Wrecker ripping arcade games out of the walls.

i want Echo to march into Cid's office, grab the clone helmets she's displayed, take them, and then utterly trash the rest of her office. top to bottom.

i want Hunter to take the dejarik table, the exact one where Omega played to pay off their debt, where he and Omega played against each other, and i want Hunter to rip it clean out of the floor and fucking launch it at Cid's head.

i want them to release all their stresses, and their pain and heartbreak, and their rage, on that little parlour.

And it's like. Being in tune with the force is one thing, right? Lots of Jedi are, lots of force users in general are, even!

But like. Okay so Hera mentioned in the pilot that Ezra opening the Holocron being a level of test, right? And it sounded like she and Kanan had discussed before something about him opening the Holocron meaning Kanan would train him.

But that's such a horrible test! In clone wars they specified that you could only open a Jedi Holocron as a Jedi. You had to be so dialed in specifically on the light side of the force.

So walk with me here. Ezra Bridger. He not only has a strong connection to the force. He not only instinctively calls on it without knowing a thing about it. He effortlessly tunes into the light side of the force, like it's as natural as breathing.

"but Void" I hear from the crowd "Ezra also tunes into the dark side of the force"

Indeed. Yes. Correct.

No but just stick with my crazed rambling for a sec okay? Because the dark side is supposed to be the easy path, the one that's so simple to fall into, it calls to force users, I mean, we see that the dark side is exactly that time and again.

I bring this up because. It's not for Ezra. The first time he grasps for the dark side he's in a panic, and it hurts him. It does get them away from the grand inquisitor but it almost doesn't. And the next time? It's after encouragement from Maul, and even then he's having to actively pursue it. He has to try to use the dark side.

And, because I think of this oh so much, when Maul needs him to open the Jedi Holocron--after he's been using the dark side and frequently, mind you--Ezra still can.

And like I have so many more incoherent thoughts about him and his force connection there's just so much he has taken up my entire brain<3

Going to try to watch Star Wars with my friend (who doesn’t even know that Vader is Anakin…) and I’m trying to figure out which versions to show him to avoid the shitty CGI.

I figure we’ll find the despecialized A New Hope, just watch the Disney Plus version of Empire, watch torrented versions of the prequels with the deleted Padme scenes added back in, then watch our Blu Ray of Return of the Jedi

TBB S2 Finale Spoilers Ahead!!

Thoughts on Death™ in The Bad Batch:

besties Tech was not the “death” i would have predicted from this show and i also don’t believe he’s actually dead (✨no force ghost, no canon✨). it makes me wonder, though, how many of us are truly prepared to possibly watch the Batchers die

i think we’ve known for awhile that by the very end of the show, there will be deaths and that at least one of those deaths will be Echo. thematically it finishes his arc (pun intended) of serving to protect the ideals of the Republic and his brothers. in the end he’ll march on with the rest of Domino Squad. and the rebel base on Hoth is called Echo Base for crying out loud! do you know how scared i was when we saw snow this season :’(

as i’ve seen pointed out, TBB is following an overall storyline much like Rebels, which we all know ended in the death of Kanan—the wise leader with experience in the Clone Wars who watched as his family was wiped from existence. see the parallels between him and Echo?

also TBB starts with seeing young, inexperienced Caleb/Kanan who then dies in the next chronological show. remind me of what Clone Wars started with in S1 E5? oh? if you said seeing a young, inexperienced Echo (and Fives) who then goes on to be in the next chronological show you’d be correct! the parallels are killing me

my personal predictions are that Echo and Crosshair won’t survive the series. Tech will come back, but not the same, and he, Hunter, Wrecker, and Omega will go on to live different lives. Emerie will also, probably, not survive :/

terrified for what’s in store for us next season!
